January – March

The early months of the year were dominated by the World title feud ongoing between Jack Bruce, Rich Money and the champion Eric Eisen. Bruce took a long time to recover from losing the title, and Eisen was able to hold back his challenge with some ease – that, and the assistance of his new enforcer, Marat Khoklov. At When Hell Freezes Over in January Eisen took a narrow victory by nefarious means after a pre-match attack. Rich Money capitalised on his own grievances over Eisen’s World title victory, channelling his momentum to earn a title shot at the February event, Nothing to Lose. Money ran Eisen even closer as the champion needed the direct intervention of Marat Khoklov to protect his title.

Eisen revelled in his brilliance the following month, seemingly outsmarting Bruce and Money as they prepared for a triangle title match at Awesome Impact as he added Marat Khoklov to the match, giving him a clear edge. However, as the match went on it became clear that Bruce was willing to trade his title shot to spite Eisen as he wiped out Khoklov and himself with a top rope dive through the announcers’ table, leaving the way clear for Money to take the win and his first World title.

Elsewhere in the SWF, Angry Gilmore and Squeeky McClean united under the team name Purity of Purpose, winning the tag titles in an upset over Giedroyc & Valiant. Even at this early stage, however, cracks were appearing in the tandem as Gilmore sought to win clean, while Squeeky looked for shortcuts first, last and foremost. The team eventually dropped the titles to the Samoan Wildboyz in March as miscommunication cost them the match.

Meanwhile Brandon James continued to brutalise opponents, forcing Joe Sexy into retirement with the help of his hired ‘Big Money’ muscle, newcomer Swoop McCarthy, the massive Everest and the veteran Runaway Train. The North American champion successfully defended his title against opponents as varied as Sexy, Lobster Warrior and Gregory Black throughout the early part of the year.

The ‘Supreme Legend’ Christian Faith was the target of a sustained assault on the part of Remo, who viewed the iconic veteran as his route to the top. The two men squared off on three consecutive pay-per-views, splitting the first two matches before Faith won the rubber match. After the bell he was assaulted by Vengeance, the masked man having put Steve Frehley to the sword in a series of matches before targeting Frehley’s friend. To add insult to injury Marat Khoklov was interspersing his work as Eric Eisen’s bodyguard with unannounced assaults on Faith, the monstrous Russian giving neither rhyme nor reason for the repeated attacks on Faith.

Newcomer Aaron Andrews made a big impression in his first match in SWF, capturing the revived Shooting Star title. He’d go on to befriend Christian Faith, who took it upon himself to give the youngster some tips and become something of a mentor to the newcomer.

April – June

The World title reign of Money began as the champion intended it to carry on. Victories over Eric Eisen and Jack Bruce made it clear that ‘Hard Cash’ intended to be taken seriously, but when the Supreme Respect battle royale came around, many wondered whether his reign might be coming to an end...

A lot of questions were also asked about the power structure in the SWF. After some questionable decisions on the part of the Board of Directors Mr Eisen took swift action, putting the hardcore legend Eric Tyler in day to day charge of the company. Tyler’s presence was felt immediately with the new boss being more than willing to take decisive action that would please the crowds and keep the money rolling in. He also introduced a points system for the tag division, stating that any team scoring three wins in a row would earn a title shot at a time of their choosing.

Elsewhere, the days of Purity of Purpose being a focused and coherent unit came to an abrupt end as McClean left Gilmore lying when the team failed to regain the tag titles. The two would face off at the Master of Puppets event ahead of the Supreme Respect battle royale, with Gilmore taking the win. McClean would later attack Gilmore during his entrance for the big match, but that simply left Squeeky vulnerable to an attack from Remo, who objected to being deprived of his opponent.

Aaron Andrews would run into trouble with another debutant when Jay Chord ambushed him and snatched the Shooting Star title in an impromptu match.

Another newcomer making waves was Rocky Golden who added to Steve Frehley’s woes as he attacked him several times before beating him in their first match. Although Frehley managed to gain some revenge, Golden had made a big impression.

The Supreme Respect match was an hour of incredible action. Brandon James used his wiles to gain the coveted no. 30 spot, and seemed a lock to win, especially as Vengeance and Marat Khoklov had dished out some serious damage while in the ring. Remo and Angry Gilmore had entered at 1 and 2, and seemed vulnerable to the rampaging ‘Big Money’ but it was Gilmore who eliminated James, earning his ire even as Remo eliminiated Gilmore in turn – earning the ‘Alpha Male’ a shot at his best friend and the World title come Supreme Challenge.

The rivalry between Jack Bruce and Eric Eisen continued, World title or no World title. The two men clashed again and again, with Eisen’s illegal interference leading to Bruce’s elimination from the Supreme Respect match. The two agreed to a final match at Supreme Challenge – although Bruce could be forgiven for being distracted by the arrival of a figure from his past, the enigmatic Troy Tornado.

Vengeance, supported by his newly-recruited Acolytes John Greed and Marc DuBois, continued to hunt and harass Christian Faith. The trio – collectively known as the Heart of Darkness – repeatedly attacked Faith’s friends and allies. Gregory Black and Aaron Andrews were placed on the shelf for several weeks before Faith gave in and agreed to meet Vengeance on his terms: Caged Hell.

The brutal match that followed was one of the most bloody and vicious in SWF history. Both men seemed determined to hurt one another, with Faith coming close to succumbing to temptation to brutalise the masked man. With the crowd cheering him on, however, Faith managed to shake off the dark influence of Vengeance and his acolytes to emerge triumphant on his own terms, earning a critical victory.

Such a shame, then, that Faith’s celebration was cut short by the arrival of Marat Khoklov. The Russian Monster KO’d the battered Faith with a single punch before issuing a challenge for Supreme Challenge one month later...

OOC: Appreciate the vote of confidence - here's hoping this can live up to it.

2010 In Review

July – September

The Supreme Challenge was one of the best shows in recent history. Remo and Rich Money had a hard-hitting battle for the World title, their friendship set aside for one night. The two men showed how close they are in terms of ability, and how well they know one another as they went back and forth for almost half an hour. Ultimately, Rich Money came out on top to retain the title, but Remo had nothing to be ashamed of in his narrow defeat.

The ire of Brandon James was focused on the runner-up in Supreme Respect, Angry Gilmore. Gilmore had gone bell to bell in the big match, while Brandon James had been overconfident in his #30 entry, resulting in Gilmore eliminating the bigger man. James demanded vengeance at Supreme Challenge – which Gilmore agreed to, provided the North American title was on the line. On the big night, Gilmore scored the big upset, taking down ‘Big Money’ with an Anger Management to take the title and put a big dent in James’ plans for domination of the SWF – for a few nights, at least.

In the night’s other headline match, Christian Faith went toe to toe with Marat Khoklov after nearly a year of being on the receiving end of the Russian Monster’s brutal attacks. Khoklov had Faith on the ropes a number of times, but the Iron Man wouldn’t stay down. With the Supreme fans firmly on the side of Faith he rallied to score the win after landing several Leaps of Faith.

Elsewhere on the show Ford Gumble and Harry Allen, CCX, took full advantage of the points system by parlaying their hot streak into a tag title shot as part of the fourway ladder match. Swoop McCarthy made a name for himself in the toughest way possible, tumbling from the top of a ladder to the arena floor. The Bumfholes tried valiantly, but came up short in their fifth title match of the year as CCX walked away with the titles.

Also on the show, Vengeance reinforced his position as one of the most fearsome members of the SWF roster, defeating Jack Giedroyc in a thrilling brawl. The duo would continue their battle, however, with no sign of their rivalry disappearing from SWF screens at time of writing. Meanwhile, Jay Chord’s Shooting Star title reign was brought to an abrupt end as he fell to Aaron Andrews, the former champion making a point of claiming his match fairly and with plenty of advance warning.

Finally 2010’s Supreme Challenge was an especially big night for one young man in particular. Spencer Spade, a 19 year old rookie, had his first ever professional wrestling match on the show, impressing in a draw with Jake Marlowe.

In the aftermath of Supreme Challenge, Brandon James stepped forward. Conceding his right to a North American title rematch, he instead demanded a match at Rich Money for the World title, a match he earned by beating Vengeance, Christian Faith and Angry Gilmore in a classic match. Champion and challenger exchanged barbed remarks over the intervening weeks, with James scoring a big win over Money in a tag match just a few nights ahead of the big show. At Welcome to the Jungle, however, it was Money who emerged on top, winning out in an arena-wide brawl that came to an end when Money goaded James into a reckless attempt at a Big Money Move that destroyed a large section of crowd barrier, leaving James vulnerable for one of the few times in his SWF career.

Also in a mood to show off was Eric Eisen. Defeated by Jack Bruce at Supreme Challenge in seemingly the final match of their rivalry, and unable to recapture the World title from Rich Money, Eisen went shopping. He debuted the Billion Dollar Belt and while the title is not recognised by the SWF he has put the trophy on the line on a number of occasions, and has always managed to find someway of retaining it – even if that has occasionally involved changing the rules mid-match to suit himself.

The arrival of another new name in the form of the highly-talented Darryl Devine confirmed what many had suspected for some time – there was an invasion of sorts taking place in the SWF. Devine joined Chord, Rocky Golden and Troy Tornado in a group that dubbed itself the Succession, with the stated goal of showing its members’ superiority over the SWF roster, whom they considered to be arrogant and insular. That attitude rubbed a few competitors the wrong way. Chris Morrisette hasn’t taken kindly to the group’s positioning of themselves at the top of the ladder. Steve Frehley, meanwhile, has declared his mistrust of the invading group, and is out to repel them from the company to show that the SWF is home to the best in the business.

The Amazing Bumfholes were having problems getting in gear, with the re-energised Biggz Brothers bedevilling them on all sides. Bart and Brett had been struggling throughout the first half of 2010, and their tempers had finally boiled over when the Bumfholes took the last spot in the Supreme Challenge ladder match. The two teams had a wild match at Welcome... that saw the Brothers come out on top. In the following weeks the newly re-christened Big Time would snatch the tag titles from CCX for a record fifth time just a few days from the Under Control pay-per-view. The brothers were quick to let people know that made them record holders – and, in their opinion at least, the greatest team in the world.

Also making an impact in September were the Vixxens – or rather, the Vixxens division. Robbie Retro had talked Mr Tyler into bringing in several young women to compete in the SWF having discovered that the respected Vixxens title had once been a SWF title, more than thirty years ago. Retro was instrumental in bringing the Vixxens ‘back home’, although for his pains he received not a drop of credit from reigning champion Lauren Easter. The beautiful and deadly Easter walked into SWF, took one look at Eric Eisen, and found herself a new companion to accompany her as she settled into the Federation. Robbie wasn’t impressed, but he couldn’t seem to find a way to get his own back. One suspects, however, that he had a hand in bringing in several of the pre-eminent female wrestlers of the day to challenge Easter for her title, however.

That show was one that largely fell outside the control of Mr Tyler. In a bold move, the man with the power turned it over to the SWF fans in the run up to Under Control, allowing the fans to choose several matches on Supreme TV and choose opponents and stipulations on the event itself. To no-one’s surprise, the Bumfholes were picked as Big Time’s challengers on the show, and upset the (record-breaking) champions just two nights into their new reign.

Also on the show, Spencer Spade fell to Robbie Retro, Gregory Black won the North American title from Angry Gilmore in a ladder match and Frederique Garcia toppled Aaron Andrews and Gino Montero in a triple threat match to regain the Shooting Star title.

The big news of the night, however, came in the main event. Eric Eisen and Brandon James had demanded rematches with Rich Money for the World title and Mr Tyler added them to the ballot – but he had a choice of his own: Christian Faith. The ‘Supreme Legend’ had only recently expressed a desire to step away from the World title scene which Mr Tyler had agreed to, on one condition – this one. Faith won the poll with a huge majority and in the ensuing match he and Money put on an absolute classic as the fans went wild for this clash of two huge names. Ultimately, experience told as Faith caught Money with Money in the Bank, pinning the champion with his own move to lift the World title for a record fifth time!

Who Is Richard Eisen was my introduction to diaries (along with God Bless Texas) and I can't wait for the follow up. Keep up the good work JC

Pleased to have you along, Inky. Hope you enjoy the ride!

Do I detect the Colony moving up the charts?

Can't keep a good insect down :p

If I say that Green is a little further along than Red, you can probably work out which is which. Shame for me - I always preferred Red...

Can't wait for this one, JC...especially when I find out who Mr. ??? is in the Main Event scene on the opening post.

I bet this is what The Colony's locker room looks like...with the exception of Soldier Ant. Green is consoling a dismayed Red when he finds out that he's not as popular.

"It's okay, Red...James told me he preferred you over me. Who cares about the popularity charts?"

Thanks, LLK3. Mr ??? will appear in the second week of November. Not sure if he'll show up on Supreme TV to bump the buyrates for the PPV, or debut on the show itself. Suffice to say he'll be recognised by a lot of people...

EDIT: Forgot to add... Had I signed Sammy Bach from TCW back at the start of the last diary, he would have debuted as Black with the following pic that may be familiar to long-time readers.

Loving the recaps and can't wait for the full shows, awesome start / continuation!

Thanks, 20.

Can we get a list of tag teams, btw, JC?

I'll be doing a roster recap over the next few posts, including a separate section for the tag teams. I spent a couple of days browsing YouTube looking for just the right music for teams like Northern Exposure - not to mention Champagne Lover and Davis Wayne Newton.

2010 In Review

October

The build-up to Let The Games Begin was focused primarily on one single match – the rematch between Christian Faith and Rich Money for the World title. Per Mr Tyler’s directions both men would fight four times in the weeks between the two pay-per-views. Faith went four and oh, beating a variety of opponents over the course of the month, including a thrilling and very testing title defence against Eric Eisen two nights before the pay-per-view. For his part, Money went three and one as he conceded his match against Brandon James two nights before Let The... in order to keep himself fresh.

Whether it was that which made the difference, or whether it was Faith’s decision to go all out in all four of his matches only Money may be able to say. On the night itself Money took a hell of a beating, but in doing so he wore Faith down as the ‘Iron Man’ needed to give nearly everything just to get Money in a position to pin, a strategy that seemed to leave Faith as badly worn down as it did his challenger. Money was able to dig deep and find his reserves, channelling his youth and apparent greater stamina to come from behind to stun the World champion and score the pin, taking back his World title after just one month.

Another reign lasting only a single month was that of the Amazing Bumfholes, who faced Big Time on the big show. However, Bart and Brett weren’t able to claim a (record) sixth tag title reign as they lost their rematch. It was Wall of Muscle, the bodyguards and hired heavies of Brandon James announced that they were taking the title match they’d earned right there and then – and with Emma Chase pulling the strings there seemed to be nothing Mr Tyler could do about it. Swoop McCarthy and Runaway Train toyed with the Bumfhole brothers but were careful not to get too over-confident, putting them down for their first titles as a team.

Elsewhere on the show, Gregory Black toppled Angry Gilmore in a close contest, after which the two friends shook hands in a welcome show of respect. The rivalry between Jack Giedroyc intensified still further. Giedroyc has never been the calmest of men, and of late seems to have become still stranger in his effort to shut down Vengeance and his acolytes. Still, attacking a random stranger in a supermarket might be a bit odd even by his standards, had he not thought it was Vengeance. That the stranger then got the better of Giedroyc as Vengeance watched on must have been galling for the Englishman.

But Vengeance was not the only member of the Heart of Darkness with plans afoot. Of late John Greed has been waxing lyrical about the nature of sin and the way in which he claims it has taken root in the SWF. An initial challenge to Steve Frehley proved unsuccessful – probably, although who can fathom the mind of John Greed? – but when he took on Kurt Laramee it was the ‘Eighth Deadly Sin’ who emerged triumphant.

Lauren Easter, meanwhile, was riding high. After defeating long-time rival Joanne Rodriguez at Under Control she toppled Grace Harper at Let The... but not without help. The arrival of a dark-haired woman distracted Harper long enough to allow Easter to take the win – and the newcomer also decked Harper after the bell, as though she really wanted to prove a point. Will the newcomer be friend or foe for Easter? Only time will tell.

But the dark-haired woman wasn’t the only new arrival on the scene at Let The Games Begin. Two male competitors also made their debuts in matches at the show, albeit with mixed fortunes. Englishman Eddie Cornell, who seems to be related to one-time SWF competitor Tommy Cornell, made the dubious move of challenging Eric Eisen. ‘The Supremacist’ made short work of the Englishman, who had been annoying Eisen with crank calls in the weeks before the match.

More successful, though, was ‘King of the Hill’ Brent Hill. The veteran star has followed Troy Tornado and Rocky Golden eastwards and tangled with Chris Morrisette in a scientific masterclass, eventually taking down the respected SWF veteran. Hill is a force to be reckoned with – and as an added bonus he’s managed by Hannah, a woman never far from the minds of a lot of SWF fans.

The rivalry between Succession and members of the SWF roster grew in intensity throughout the month. Tornado and his cohort had made the SWF loyalists look foolish in defeat at Under Control, and Steve Frehley wanted to get his hands on the leader of the group to exact some revenge. Unfortunately for Frehley, Jack Bruce wanted to fight Tornado as well. Where the two men had previously had coinciding goals, it was now clear that only one man could advance to Let The Games Begin to take on Tornado. The two friends were pitched into a match to sort out who, and it was a match that Bruce won with the – unrequested and unwelcome – help of Tornado himself. However, where Bruce won that match, he would fall to Tornado at the pay-per-view as Tornado showed cunning to topple the ‘Long Island Angel’, an event that Tornado claimed was just the beginning for the two of them. Beginning, middle or end, Steve Frehley had seen enough and was seen asking for help from an unknown person after the match – a person who’ll be arriving in the SWF in November...

Thanks, BloodyKnuckles. Good to have you on board!

Just tweaking the first part of the roster review. I'll post it later tonight. It doesn't tie in exactly with the roster in the first post (Eric E, for example, always gets treated as a main eventer in-game, but has had a few losses lately hence his drop to midcard) so it's more my take on who's where in the SWF right now rather than who the game thinks is where.

The Main Event

Rich Money
– SWF World Heavyweight champion

The new – and two-time – World champion has had a 2010 to remember ... Never giving in to self-doubt, Money toppled Eric Eisen for the title in March and held on tight for six months, including overcoming his best friend, Remo, at Supreme Challenge ... Lost the title to Christian Faith in a thriller in September, but outlasted the Iron Man the following month to regain the title ... Ruthless and amoral, Money will do anything to keep hold of his title, and prove he is the best in the world, a claim fewer and fewer people can doubt ... Appreciated by the fans, they don’t always like the way he treats his opponents ... He’s never shown any sign that he cares either way

Record: 40-3-6 (0.82, B+/A)

Titles: SWF World (2) – March to September 2010, October to present

Brandon James
(with
Emma Chase
)

‘Big Money’ has been a consistent threat to anyone and everyone in his path ... Undefeated for more than six months in 2010 before losing to Angry Gilmore at Supreme Challenge ... Came up short in World title challenge against Money in a Match of the Year contender ... Brutal treatment of Joe Sexy and Everest effectively retired both men from the SWF ... Devious and dangerous, his intelligence is augmented by that of consultant Emma Chase ... Feral and brutish once the bell rings, he is a cunning and intelligent scheme outside of the squared circle ... Big Money Move continues to claim victim after victim after victim ... Occasionally shows signs of difficulty in marrying his in-ring instincts with his out-of-ring smarts; Should that ever be resolved, he could be unstoppable

Record:
26-4-10
(0.65, B/A)

Titles: SWF North American – October 2009 to July 2010

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/ChristianFaith.jpg

Christian Faith

‘Supreme Legend’ is as beloved today as ever ... Recent one month World title reign showed he can still run with the top dogs, but nowadays he wants to focus on the future of the business ... Has assumed a gatekeeper role to test the up-and-comers ... Delivered stellar performances in victories over Vengeance and Marat Khoklov in mid-summer, and continues to deliver the match of the night, week in and week out ... Will be viewed as the yardstick for others to measure themselves against; He measures himself against Rich Money ... Would like to wind down his career by giving back, but the suspicion will always linger that Faith will be called upon to handle the biggest threats

Record: 33-1-12 (0.72, B+/A)

Titles: SWF World – September to October 2010

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/EricEisen.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/ZSWF_BillionDollar.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/LaurenSmall.jpg

Eric Eisen
(with
Lauren Easter
) – Billion Dollar Belt holder

‘The Supremacist’ is rich, powerful and utterly ruthless when it comes to getting the win ... Frequent clashes with Rich Money have highlighted the similarities between the two men ... Failure to regain World title saw Eisen debut the Billion Dollar Belt. Not a recognised SWF title, Eisen has mostly defended it against the SWF’s lesser lights ... Always scheming, Eisen hijacked the nascent Vixxens division by winning over Lauren Easter with a big stack of cash ... Can never be counted out of contention as he always has plans in motion

Record:
28-4-14
(0.61, B/A)

Titles: SWF World – December 2009 to March 2010

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/JackBruce.jpg

Jack Bruce

‘Showtime’ always delivers what the crowd wants ... Derailed in his efforts to regain the World title early in the year, Bruce at least took revenge on Eric Eisen in a brutal brawl at Supreme Challenge ... Haunted over the summer by an anonymous stalker who was revealed to be Bruce’s old friend Troy Tornado, Bruce is now embroiled in a heated feud with his long-time rival ... Bruce’s friends have rallied to his aid, but there are signs he may be on the verge of alienating them with his drive to take Tornado out ... Always thrills the fans, always fights to the last, feeds on the cheers of the fans

Record:
30-6-10
(0.65, B/A)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Remo.jpg

Remo

‘Alpha Male’ went bell-to-bell in the hour-long Supreme Respect match, earning a World title shot at Supreme Challenge ... Fell to best friend Rich Money in that shot ... Has scored big wins over Christian Faith and others, suggesting he’s on the verge of hitting the top ... Has recently seemed a little directionless, sitting out several shows but showing up to watch matches from the aisle or the crowd ... Whatever Remo has going on is likely to mean pain for someone; There are few more effective in Supreme history at hitting hard, hitting fast and hitting often

Record:
23-2-11
(0.66, B/A)

Titles: Supreme Respect winner – May 2010

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/RobbieRetro.jpg

Robbie Retro

‘The Master of the Blast From the Past’ is a big crowd favourite ... Indifferent record in-ring shouldn’t disguise Retro’s big steps forward this year, as he’s been mixing with some of the top names in the company ... Recent feud with Spencer Spade has reconfirmed Retro’s deep knowledge of wrestling history ... Knows all the tricks, all the moves, and all the roads to the top ... If he becomes capable of putting theory into practise, he could be a real contender ... Heavyweight brawler stands to gain more than most from facing Christian Faith over the coming months

Record:
29-2-25
(0.52, C+/B+)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/RockyGolden.jpg

Rocky Golden

‘The Golden One’ is in SWF to make things better ... Initial feud with Steve Frehley showed Golden to be a tenacious and tricky opponent ... Alliance with Tornado and the other Succession members gives Golden strength in numbers ... Big, good-looking, charismatic and with youth on his side, there isn’t much standing between Golden and the top ... Defers to Tornado as the leader of Succession, but with Bruce always uppermost in Tornado’s mind often acts as the leader on the ground ... In his favour, he seems a lot less inclined to thoughtless violence than gang leaders of the past ... Just watch out when he does decide on violence, as the Succession are a dangerous group

Record:
14-2-13
(0.48, B/A)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/TroyTornado.jpg

Troy Tornado

With an ego to fill the biggest stadium, being seen as second best doesn’t sit well with Tornado ... Rivalry with Jack Bruce dates back to their youth, and has been simmering ever since ... Massively talented all-rounder has already picked up some impressive wins ... Presently focused on destroying Bruce, pity the opponent who stands between him and ‘Showtime’ ... Tornado is not just engaged in a physical wart with Tornado, but a mental one as well ... Determination to outperform Bruce on every stage sees him setting the pace for the rivalry, and he doesn’t want to go too fast, too soon ... The fans are clamouring for more, which is no doubt exactly what Tornado wants ... Encyclopaedic knowledge of rock history provides him with a quote for every occasion

Record:
11-2-3
(0.69, B/A)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Vengeance.jpg

Vengeance

‘The Harbinger’ remains the most frightening sight in the SWF, especially with his trademark chain in hand ... Obsession with the darkness has seen him recruiting followers this year, and taking on long-time rivals Steve Frehley and Christian Faith ... Came within inches of toppling Faith in Caged Hell ... More recently, has been tangling with Jack Giedroyc ... Can never be trusted, can never be tamed ... Attempted drowning of Giedroyc over the summer ranks as one of the most brutal moments in SWF history ... Feud with Giedroyc seemingly spawned in that moment, and the two aren’t going easy on one another ... Implacable man has taken some beatings, but no-one yet has managed to put him down and out

Frederique A. Garcia
– SWF Shooting Star champion

‘Funtime Freddy’ always gets a reaction from the crowd ... Outrageously extravagant, but also a calculating brawler with underrated aerial and technical ability ... Veteran star is enjoying an Indian summer since emerging as the winner of the fan vote for the Shooting Star title match at Under Control ... Easy to underestimate, hard to beat, Garcia is a challenge for even the best of the SWF’s competitors

Record:

Titles: SWF Shooting Star – September 2010 to present

Adam Matravers

‘Mile High’ Matravers is a newcomer to SWF ... Englishman spent his early years in Britain, where was a star of the local scene ... Initial results aren’t promising, but is still finding his feet ... Has already established a rapport with James Hernandez, and the two could challenge for the tag titles in the future

Record: 0-0-6 (0.0, C-/B-)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Cyclonus.jpg

Cyclonus

Masked high-flyer has impressed with his performances ... Has mainly appeared on Uprising ... A strong contender for the Shooting Star title ... Doesn’t like Scourge, and the feeling’s mutual ... Profoundly moral, often challenges those whose actions he considers to fall short of the ideal ... A fine attitude, but it’s got him in trouble in the past, and is likely to do so again in the future

Record: 9-0-24 (0.27, C/B)

Darryl Devine

The young newcomer has made a significant impression in strong showings against some of the SWF’s top stars ... Association with the Succession has kept him front and centre since his debut ... Teams with Jay Chord, adding a second string to his bow ... Has had injury problems, and this slowed him down in a recent clash with Jack Bruce ... When fit, one of the finest young talents in the business

Record:

Jake Marlowe

One-time Jungle Lord has found his voice and is now in search of a purpose ... Has lined up against the Succession out of loyalty to his friend Jack Bruce, but bears them no ill-will personally ... Acrobatic brawler often performs impressively, and seems to be settling into SWF ... Could be ready to challenge for the North American title soon

Record:

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/JayChord.jpg

Jay Chord

Still only a teenager, but the pedigree means he stands out among his peers ... Allegiance with the Succession results from his determination to be recognised on his talent, not his age ... Ruffles a lot of feathers, and has been shown to be not
quite
as good as he sometimes thinks he is ... Improving tag team with Darryl Devine could provide the seasoning for his prodigious talent

Record:

(0.35, C+/B+)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/KurtLaramee.jpg

Kurt Laramee

‘King of the Streets’ could be headed for a clash with Brent Hill ... Uncultured but effective brawler knows he’s tough, and knows that in a brawl he can stand toe to toe with anyone .... Antagonistic relationship with Mr Tyler gives him a chance to fight whoever crosses the man in charge, even if Tyler doesn’t care if Laramee walks out uninjured at the end of the match

Record:

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/MarcDuBois.jpg

Marc DuBois

Highly regarded since his debut in 2005, DuBois has risen up the ranks in 2010 ... Increasingly self-obsessed, he has fallen under Vengeance’ sway ... Has apparently developed pyromaniac tendencies, giving serious burns to Gregory Black and nearly blinding Angry Gilmore ... Tag team with John Greed means that no-one, singles or doubles competitor, is safe from his willingness to light a flame in the darkness ... Busiest Supreme competitor gives his all in every match

Record:
28-1-38
(0.42, B-/A)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/SqueekyMcClean.jpg

Squeeky McClean

Big start to the year saw him capture the tag titles with short-lived partner Angry Gilmore ... Brief feud followed the team’s split, and it wasn’t McClean who came out on top ... Talented veteran has seemingly lost a little focus in the second half of the year ... Occasional tag team with Freddy Garcia could be a way forward, if Garcia wasn’t busy with his own concerns ... Better than his record suggests, but could do with building some momentum

Record:
21-2-26

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/SteveFlash.jpg

Steve Flash

Call him Steve ‘Wrestling’ Flash, AKA ‘Mr SWF’ ... Hugely experienced veteran has signed on with SWF for, as he puts it, one last payday ... Doesn’t like the way SWF wrestlers fight, and is keen to teach them how it’s done ‘old school’

Record: N/A

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/TedBrady.jpg

Ted Brady

Bitter veteran feels he’s due more recognition that he gets ... One of the pioneers of the cruiserweight style in the west, he’s been somewhat eclipsed by faster and younger wrestlers ... No longer young, he can still surprise an unwary rookie on his day

Record: 0-0-10 (0.0, C+/B-)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/WilliamHayes.jpg

William Hayes

Japan idolising up-and-comer holds his eastern influences and style as superior to those of the west ... Hasn’t noticeably resulted in success for him in SWF, but he’s still young enough and new enough to improve quickly ... Has shown on a number of occasions that he can compete with his peers

Finally! I've been wondering who Scourge and Cyclonus are for quite some time now. Surprised at the pick for Scourge, but who can doubt Johnny Heizenger's best friend?

At last, the mystery is revealed... :p

I actually bought 'Scourge' in as a prelim guy back in the early days of the diary alongside Mark Smart, Ben Williams, Brimstone and some others to give Khoklov a squash guy and competitors like Morrisette and Marlowe some easy wins. However, he stood out by having ridiculously good matches (for a nothing squash on Uprising, anyway) which seems to suggest that he has more to him than, say, Roger Monteiro.

As for Cyclonus, I like AmEl and have always wanted to book him. At some point I may get more into his whole character, but on the list of 'deserves a push', a masked cruiserweight with so-so mic skills who works a style not best suited to SWF is realistically some way down the list.

That said, if I were to use a face stable at some point (three and potentially rising on the heel side...) then he'd make a great sidekick for Giedroyc... Decisions, decisions...

I have been looking forward to getting stuck into a JC diary from ground zero for quite a while and now I have the opportunity to do just that. All the best with this JC, I'll be reading for sure. :)

Welcome on board!

I'm officially now a Spencer Spade mark because of his music. :o

Spade, along with Montero and Heroe, gave me some real trouble when it came to picking music. I had four or five picks for Spade at one point (Make Me Wanna Die and Children of the Revolution among others) but I struggled with them. In the end, I'm not totally crazy about using Muse as they also do Angry Gilmore's music (Time is Running Out) and I'd rather only do that when workers are going to be linked (like Primus and Vengeance). However, I had to choose something.

Taking a break from writing for a while didn't mean I stopped working on the diary, as may be clear, I just spent time listening to music...

...and I still couldn't find a decent track for the Wildboyz, so they've gone 'ironic'
