"The League:" Season Five thread

Not that important. Maxx still sucks.

Sorry to tease everyone with a glimpse of the Splash, and then not follow up, but it's not been the best of weeks for me. Difficult to write Flogg stuff when you don't feel all that funny. Hopefully he'll be back soon, at least for me. :p

Shit. Maxx kicks my ass on a regular basis. :p

THE LEAGUE: SEASON FIVE, WEEK TWELVE

With the pyro seeming to echo the cannon fire of the War Between the States, the Richmond Coliseum erupts in ovation, with a number of fans making a three-hour trek from the Baltimore area to see their hometown warrior in action tonight. A number of pro-Skabb signs are also in view, and a section up in the nosebleed area of the arena appears to be decked out in prisoner orange in support of the League's resident lunatic. All too soon, we head to ringside and our announce team for the night.

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to week twelve of The League! Bob Sinclair, sitting here at ringside with Tori Montgomery; Frankie Garnett will be joining us in a little while. Normally, we'd be talking about clinch scenarios as we enter the twelfth week of a season, but with the expanded schedule this season that gets pushed back a few weeks, Tori. How much is that going to affect the wrestlers especially as we get into weeks 15 and beyond?

Tori Montgomery: It will be a new challenge for them, that is for sure, especially for the long-time vets of The League who have gotten used to a fourteen-week schedule. The last four weeks could truly make or break this season for those looking to solidify a post-season appearance.

Bob Sinclair: We have a great card lined up for everyone tonight, so without any further delays, let's send it off to Amelia Williams to get tonight's festivities under way!

OMEGA DIVISION: Johnny Triumph (8-3, 19%) vs. Ian Carlisle (3-8, 11%)

Linkin Park's "What I've Done" blares through the arena as one of the League's youngest members steps into the arena. A moment later, he sprints towards the ring, sliding in under the bottom rope and heading to a corner to appeal to the fans.

Amelia Williams: Our opening contest is an Omega Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Blackpool, England, weighing 222 pounds...Ian Carlisle!

Bob Sinclair: Carlisle comes in tonight near the bottom of the Omega Division standings; one more loss and he is guaranteed to not have a winning season.

Tori Montgomery: I'd say that I don't like his chances, but he's used to being the underdog, Bob. A win here could really shake up the Omega Division race!

A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as he emerges from the entryway. Instead of taking the steps closest to him, he walks around to the opposite side of the ring, drawing in more jeers as he finally climbs the steps and enters the ring.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds, he is the current Omega Division leader...Johnny Triumph!

Bob Sinclair: If the season ended right now, Triumph would be in the championship match. Aside from winning, Tori, what does he need to do to repeat as League Champion?

Tori Montgomery: That's really about it. He needs to stay focused on just one match at a time. As long as he keeps that focus, the wins will come.

The referee has called for the bell!

The fans start a chant of 'That Match Sucked'.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of five minutes and twenty seconds...Johnny Triumph!

Tori Montgomery: And there is the focus I mentioned, Bob. Triumph assures himself the division lead heading into next week, and remains in the driver's seat in the Omega Division race.

Bob Sinclair: Meanwhile, Carlisle falls to 3-9 and could be staring up at the rest of the division depending on later results tonight. He's got a tough road ahead of him to salvage anything from this season!

ALPHA DIVISION: Thor Hammerskald (5-6, 13%) vs. Jack Lightning (4-7, 18%)

Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" hits the speakers as the first Canadian to enter The League emerges from the back, looking surprisingly at ease as he steps onto the ring apron and leaps over the top rope. Climbing onto the turnbuckles, he raises an arm in the air and drinks in the cheers of the crowd before dropping back to the mat and preparing for his match.

Amelia Williams: Our next bout is scheduled for one fall in the Alpha Division! Introducing first, from London, Ontario, weighing 233 pounds...Jack Lightning!

Bob Sinclair: Lightning has struggled at times this season, but enters tonight still within striking distance of at least a postseason tournament berth.

Tori Montgomery: While his odds are miniscule at best to win the division, he can still make the postseason and that would be a huge leap forward for the Ontario native.

Amon Amarth's "Death in Fire" hits the speakers, to a decent ovation he emerges from backstage, looking every bit the part of a Viking warrior as he strides to the ring with a determined look on his face...and scattering some of the fans away from the entrance ramp as he turns to glare at them. Behind him, his manager/League color commentator can be see giving him encouragement as the Viking enters the confines of the squared circle.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, being accompanied to the ring by Frankie Garnett, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: Much like Lightning, Thor is in the realms of a postseason tournament berth, but he needs to string some wins together.

Tori Montgomery: Thor's problem this season has been inconsistency. Until he can control that, he will likely continue to struggle in League action.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of eight minutes and twenty seconds...Jack Lightning!

Bob Sinclair: I can't believe what I just saw, Tori! Lightning somehow manages to muscle his opponent into that signature maneuver and stuns Thor just long enough to garner the three!

Tori Montgomery: I must say, I do not want to be in Frankie's shoes at the moment, Bob. Thor is as likely to tear him a new one as he is to just let Frankie stay at ringside....

OMEGA DIVISION: Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr. (5-6, 15%) vs. Dante Lorenzo (4-7, 18%)

Three Days Grace's "Riot" hits the speakers to a chorus of jeers as the first Italian-born member of The League emerges from the back, ignoring the crowd in the arena as he mentally prepares for his upcoming match. Reaching the ring, he climbs up the steps and enters between the ropes, his face never losing a look of confident indifference.

Amelia Williams: This Omega Division contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Florence, Italy, weighing 291 pounds...Dante Lorenzo!

Bob Sinclair: Lorenzo has struggled in his sophomore season, especially after a playoff showing last season.

Tori Montgomery: The rest of the League got wise to his abilities, Bob, and now they aren't underestimating him. Just another example of the adaptation that goes on here.

"Here Comes the Money" hits the speakers, as one of this season's rookies emerges from the back, with a beautiful woman hanging off his left arm. He pays no attention to the jeering fans, his attitude simply screaming "I'm better than you."

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied to the ring by Missy Callistra, from Providence, Rhode Island, weighing 224 pounds...Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr.!

Bob Sinclair: This one may come as a surprise to some people. If the season ended today, Stanton would be in the playoffs as the lowest seed in the Omega Division.

OMEGA DIVISION: Master Imoka (8-3, 22%) vs. Robbie Maynard (8-3, 15%)

The opening riffs of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" hits the speakers, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd as last season's champion emerges from the stage, bathed in a blue light shining beneath him. After pausing to mentally prepare himself, he walks to the ring, belt slung over his right shoulder and his eyes never leaving the squared circle as he climbs onto the apron and ducks between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: This Omega Division bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds, he is the reigning and defending League Champion...Robbie Maynard!

Bob Sinclair: As Frankie rejoins us here at ringside for what could be considered one of the featured bouts of the night, who do you give the advantage to?

Frankie Garnett: Despite the fact that Maynard's the champ, I say Imoka tonight. He seems to have found that zone he started the season with, and will not be denied.

Tori Montgomery: I think Maynard has the advantage here. He's got League experience that Imoka doesn't, plus that gold belt on his shoulder says it all. He's champion for a reason.

"You're the Best" blasts from the arena speakers as The League's lone Samoan emerges from the back, staring a hole through the ring as if by doing so, he can change it to his preferred medium of a martial arts mat. As he gets to ringside, he quickly lashes out and kicks the top half of the steel steps off the bottom half, snarling as he slides into the ring and stands motionless, waiting for the bell to sound.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Isle of Samoa, weighing 214 pounds...Master Imoka!

Frankie Garnett: ...yeah, I think Imoka looks ready to knock someone's head off.

Bob Sinclair: You might be right, Frankie.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of six-and-a-half minutes...Master Imoka!

Bob Sinclair: Imoka wastes absolutely no time, taking out the defending champion and moving into a tie for the division lead!

Tori Montgomery: Triumph still has the lead due to the head-to-head tiebreaker, but this race just got interesting real quick!

Frankie Garnett: Something tells me that Triumph/Imoka II in four weeks is going to be a war....

OMEGA DIVISION: Rannulf von Krüshengberg (2-9, 14%) vs. Sean (5-6, 24%)

The opening to Rammstein's "Mein Teil" hits the speakers as the largest member of The League emerges, causing everyone with something that could even remotely be considered food to get away from the entranceway as quickly as possible for fear of losing their food...and at least a body part or two.

Amelia Williams: Our next contest remains in the Omega Division and is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from der Schwarzwald, Deutschland, weighing 421 pounds..."Der Panzer" Rannulf von Krüshengberg!

Bob Sinclair: Rannulf enters the evening already locked out of a winning record, and staring up at the other nine members of the Omega Division in the standings.

Frankie Garnett: I just don't get why this guy keeps losing, Bob. Sure he would have gone all Kirby-like on the rest of the League by now.

Tori Montgomery: ...I cannot believe you just made a Kirby reference during a show.

Frankie Garnett: For the right kind of money, Tori, I'd do just about anything.

Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" hits the arena speakers as a spotlight shines down on the top of the ramp. Emerging from the back, the former League Champion walks out as he throws a hand into the air, causing pyro to erupt from behind him in a manner of paparazzi photographing him. With a smirk, the champ heads to the ring, the spotlight remaining on him the whole time.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, now residing in Los Angeles, California, weighing 230 pounds..."Hollywood" Sean!

Bob Sinclair: Is it just me, or has Sean seemed a bit...unstable over the last few weeks?

Tori Montgomery: Given that he's two spots out of the postseason tournament and losing hope of competing for the championship with each week, Bob, I'd have to agree with you.

Frankie Garnett: Just shows you how far the successful can fall.

Tori Montgomery: Not like you'd know what success is like, eh Frankie?

Frankie Garnett: Says the woman who can't even keep a web show on the air any longer due to poor ratings.

Frankie Garnett: Not going to happen. Calling it now.

OMEGA DIVISION: Tarik Nolan (5-6, 15%) vs. Super Century (7-4, 24%)

"Regulate" hits the speakers, immediately drawing the ire of the crowd as a large figure stands in the entryway, backlit by a clear spotlight. Pyro explodes on the stage, causing the light to shut off as the figure finally emerges onto the stage proper. Laughing at the boos hurled in his direction, he takes his time walking to the ring and subsequently entering it for his next match.

Amelia Williams: Our next bout is scheduled for one fall in the Omega Division! Introducing first, from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

Tori Montgomery: The Louisiana Nightmare has struggled all season, finding himself just outside the playoff window entering tonight.

Frankie Garnett: Seriously, Tori? "Louisiana Nightmare" is the best you can do?

Tori Montgomery: Sometimes the KISS method is the best, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: "KISS?" What does Gene Simmons have to do with this?

Bob Sinclair: Wrong reference, Frankie....

Without warning, all of the lights go off in the arena, casting everything into pitch blackness. A few seconds pass before a spotlight shines on one of the turnbuckles, revealing no one there. This is repeated with all four corners, each revealing no one there. Finally, one last spotlight shines down onto the middle of the ring, which reveals the caped form of The League's resident superhero, who stands with arms folded and staring intently into the audience.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

Bob Sinclair: The true surprise of the season, Century comes in tonight with a chance to remain one match out of the division lead with six weeks to go.

Tori Montgomery: If he keeps putting out results like this, Bob, you may be right!

ALPHA DIVISION: Sebastian Moore (3-8, 20%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (6-5, 20%)

It is to Muse's "Assassin" that he emerges, an arrogant smirk crossing his face as he soaks in the jeers of the crowd. Looking up at the spotlight for a moment, his smirk seems to get even bigger as he walks down the ramp, ignoring the catcalls of the crowd as he ascends the steps, wipes his feet on the apron, and steps through the ropes, looking more at ease than the casual fan may think.

Amelia Williams: This Alpha Division bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Manchester, England, weighing 237 pounds...Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: Moore continues to struggle in his return season, coming in tonight at the bottom of the Alpha Division standings.

Frankie Garnett: With the way he left the League, and how he's done since his return, I say he should just go back to whatever place he went to. He's not doing well here.

Tori Montgomery: It's true that Moore is struggling, but that's no reason to run him out of here, Frankie!

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage, with a title belt around his waist. As he hits the end of the entrance ramp, he throws his arms into the air, sending a pair of mushroom clouds into the air from the stage as he makes his way to the ring and through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds, he is one-half of the Tag Team Turmoil champions...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: Nuclear comes in tonight two matches out of the division lead held by Diamond, and could use a victory in a bad way to keep from slipping out of the postseason tournament.

Tori Montgomery: Templeton has been the runner-up each of the last two seasons, and without improvement could find himself on the outside once again.

Frankie Garnett: Which is nothing new for him.

Bob Sinclair: ,,,I'm not going to ask how you got on that tangent....

ALPHA DIVISION: Pizza Mask III (5-6, 23%) vs. Scott Stevens (4-7, 28%)

The theme to Samurai Pizza Cats plays as a van painted red with the words "Pizza Wagon" on the side comes down to ringside. Emerging from the van, the former backyard wrestler is seen in his trademark Pizza Hut uniform and new tights that resemble a cheese pizza on the left side, and a shot of PM3 bashing the Noid in the face with a chair. Reaching into the van to pull out a Pain Pizza, he hands it off to one lucky fan at ringside before hopping over the top rope and entering the ring to the cheers of the fans in attendance.

Amelia Williams: This Alpha Division contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Your Friendly Neighborhood Pizzeria, weighing 199 pounds...Pizza Mask III!

Bob Sinclair: This is a match that PM3 has been waiting for. The war of words between him and Stevens has been boiling for weeks now, and tonight they will finally get to do something about it.

Frankie Garnett: This just in, Stevens destroys Pizza Mask. Film in ten minutes!

Tori Montgomery: Oh, to make you eat your words later....

The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" The crowd starts booing as Dave Mustaine's voice echoes throughout the arena, "I am the Scorpion, whoa!" The jeering intensifies as a mash-up of "I Stand Alone" and "Amazing" hits the speakers, drawing out the reigning Legacy Pro Wrestling champion, complete with belt around the waist. Walking down the aisle, he talks trash the entire way while pointing at the LPW title around his waist. As he finally gets to the ring, he climbs the nearest turnbuckle and stares down his opponent, an icy glare and the throat slash gesture his only actions as he drops to the mat.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Houston, Texas, weighing 256 pounds...The Master of Disaster, The King of Sting, The Venomous One and Only, and the reigning Legacy Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion... he is "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Tori Montgomery: More like the resident joke. If Stevens was as good as he claims, he wouldn't be sitting on a losing record right now.

Frankie Garnett: That's because some people, and I'm not mentioning names...coughPhoenixcough...like to tilt the odds with illegal substances!

Tori Montgomery: Big words coming from someone who can't manage his own client to a winning record!

Bob Sinclair: She has a point, Frankie.

ALPHA DIVISION: Diamond (8-3, 26%) vs. Eidenhoek Gaiaspade (5-6, 26%)

Disturbed's "Indestructible" hits the arena as one of last season's rookies emerges from the back, looking surprisingly at ease despite the hard beat of the song. Jumping onto the apron from the floor, he steps between the ropes and calmly waits for the bell to get the match underway.

Amelia Williams: Our next bout is an Alpha Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the Island of Tria, weighing 205 pounds...Eidenhoek Gaiaspade!

Bob Sinclair: Gaius is showing improvement over his last season, and enters tonight just outside the top five of the Alpha Division.

Tori Montgomery: A win here would let him into the number five spot, but with so much time to go it will be difficult holding on to that spot.

Frankie Garnett: Meh, it won't last.

"Don't Cha" hits the arena to a mixed reaction as The League's lone female member emerges from backstage. There is a confident smirk on her face as she talks trash with some of the louder fans before sprinting into the ring by diving under the bottom rope. As she stands, hoisting a title belt in the air, she proceeds to the corner nearest the announce table, hands thrown in the air as the soaks in the crowd reaction while her manager stands outside, also applauding her client.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds, she is the current Alpha Division leader...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond is in the driver's seat in her division. Right now she has the tie-breaker over Phoenix, and a win here ensures that she remains in the lead.

Tori Montgomery: The last time Diamond won her division, she finished third overall for the season. She would love to have a shot at the League Championship just to shut the naysayers up.

Frankie Garnett: If Thor can't get to the to, at least she's not that fat lump Phoenix....

ALPHA DIVISION HARDCORE MATCH: Maxx Skabb (7-4, 42%) vs. The Phoenix (8-3, 38%)

Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare" blares throughout the arena as spotlights begin to pan over the audience, as if looking for someone. A dim red light shines on the entryway, revealing a hulking figure making his way to ringside, with two more men hiding just at the fringes of the spotlight, their eyes never leaving the form of the big man. As the refrain hits, the spotlights immediately focus on him as white strobe lights flash on the entrance stage. He slides under the bottom rope, his orange jumpsuit a stark contrast to most of the clothing in the audience as the song fades into silence.

Amelia Williams: This is our main event, a hardcore bout swcheduled for one fall in the Alpha Division! Introducing first, from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds...Maxx Skabb!

Bob Sinclair: This match is clearly in Maxx's element, given his background.

Tori Montgomery: He needs to be careful, though, Bob. Phoenix is a former hardcore champion, holding that title for over six months straight.

Frankie Garnett: Details, details....

Within Temptation's "Stand My Ground" hits the arena speakers as a League Original emerges from the back, through a wall of flame pyro. His face gives no emotions away as he walks to the ring, shadowboxing as he stops at the ring steps. A moment later, he slams both fists into the top step before looking up the heavens with a cry of "For the Fallen" coming from his lips. With no further ado, he steps between the ropes, ready to go to war once again. At ringside, Tori drops her headset to the table and walks towards his corner, taking the spot his estranged wife should be manning as he nods in recognition to her.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, joined at ringside by Tori Montgomery, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds, he is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions...this is The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: Phoenix knows what is at stake; he looks ready to go, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: Please, Bob. He is just anxious to get back to the buffet bar backstage before Rannulf eats everything.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of six minutes and ten seconds...The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: And another solid victory for Phoenix, who looks poised to return to the playoffs.

Frankie Garnett: All this playoff talk halfway through the season can ruin a betting line, Bob. You should be more considerate of others.

Bob Sinclair: Yeah, I'll do that …

As Phoenix is about to exit the ring, he is caught as Skabb kicks the ropes up between his thighs. Phoenix collapses back into the ring, as the enraged felon pounces, raining lefts and rights on Phoenix' face. Before long, Skabb drags the now semi-conscious Phoenix over to the corner, where he wraps the man's arm around the post, while leaving his shoulder flush against the metal support. After a few more shots to the head, Maxx grabs a steel chair from under the ring, before violently swinging it at the post, catching the Phoenix in the shoulder, who releases a primal scream of agony. As Phoenix rolls away, Skabb holds the dented chair up towards the camera, before licking the side of the metal. His lips curl, as the madness in his eyes shines bright.

Maxx Skabb: It seems that envy is my sin …

Frankie Garnett: The hell is he talking about?!

Bob Sinclair: More importantly, can we get some help for the Phoenix, please?

As League doctors rush to the ringside area to check on the Phoenix, still clutching his shoulder and writhing in pain, Skabb calmly walks over, before dipping his finger in the small pool of blood from Phoenix' forehead. With that same finger, Skabb etches his last name across the steel chair, before laying it down beside the Phoenix.

Maxx Skabb: One autograph, here you go. No need to cry now.

Without any further urging, Skabb heads towards the back, waving to the many booing fans as he does, mumbling incoherently to himself as he goes.

Frankie Garnett: That's it, someone needs to lock that man up! He's not making sense! And don't tell me about a fine either, Bob! That lunatic will probably pay in Monopoly money or sliced baloney. Why isn't … why is … I mean ...

Bob Sinclair: All right, Frankie, settle down. Deep breaths. I am more than certain that the League will look into this issue sooner rather than later. Hopefully by next week, when we get to Puerto Rico, we'll have answers.

Frankie Garnett: We damn well better!

It is to a shot of Phoenix howling in pain as the doctors try to move his arm that we fade to black to end the show.

So...my spreadsheet decided to bug out on me this afternoon. In the process of updating a backup copy to current specs.

As a result, pages will be up tomorrow evening. I apologize for the inconvenience.

As a further result, I will extend the training deadline to Tuesday night (same time as prediction deadline). I will let you all know when they are updated (expect it to be around 6 PM Eastern US tomorrow, after I get off of work and make sure my backup copy is working properly).

Sorry for the delay--was getting final prep work done on my Mass Effect 2 save to import into ME3. That said (and while ME3 is installing to my 360's hard drive), have a show and other assorted things. :)

Season Five, Week Thirteen

San Juan, Puerto Rico

THE LEAGUE: SEASON FIVE, WEEK THIRTEEN

It's been nearly five full seasons in coming, but the League finally arrives in Puerto Rico to a roaring ovation. It's a fine tropical night, with rain threatening late, but that hasn't dampened the spirits of nearly 19,000 fans as they wait with thinly-veiled anticipation for their first taste of live League action.

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to week thirteen of The League! Bob Sinclair, joined at ringside by Tori Montgomery. Frankie Garnett will be joining us later on. We're almost at the point where a normal regular season would have ended, which means the next few weeks will be more interesting, Tori. Do you see a spot or two in the playoffs determined by sheer exhaustion?

Tori Montgomery: While it's certainly possible, Bob, I think the adrenaline will be enough for those in contention to suck it up and make that push to get into the postseason. The next five weeks will be quite telling.

Bob Sinclair: We're ready to kick off the show, folks. I know the wrestlers are ready, and this crowd is more than ready. With that, let's go to Amelia Williams to get this night underway!

ALPHA DIVISION: Scott Stevens (5-7, 15%) vs. Jack Lightning (5-7, 11%)

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, it's time! Our opening bout is scheduled for one fall, and is an Alpha Division contest!

Amelia Williams: Introducing first, from London, Ontario, weighing 233 pounds...Jack Lightning!

Bob Sinclair: Lightning comes in tonight just on the outside of the potential playoff field, and a win here should help his cause.

Tori Montgomery: In the chaos that hovers around the final playoff berth for the division, there are at least five wrestlers with a chance to walk away with the spot. Lightning's a surprise in that group, given that he has barely won 30% of his matches in League competition to date.

Bob Sinclair: Stevens has been on a slide recently, only winning one of his last four matches and finding himself in the packed group of wrestlers jockeying for position in the middle of the standings.

Tori Montgomery: I would say that it couldn't happen to a nicer fellow, but I think we all know where my stance lies regarding Stevens....

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of seven minutes and ten seconds...Jack Lightning!

Bob Sinclair: Stevens is livid, Tori!

Tori Montgomery: He's claiming that he had a shoulder up before three, but the referee is not listening to him. That's what he gets!

Bob Sinclair: I'm looking at a replay, Tori, as is most of the crowd at the moment due to it being shown on the 'Tron, and let's look here...one...two...

Tori Montgomery: ...and the third hits about a frame or two before Stevens gets a shoulder up! Good call by the ref, and Stevens loses by a matter of a split second!

Bob Sinclair: Something tells me we haven't heard the last of this one, Tori.

Tori Montgomery: Yeah, I'm definitely not looking forward to this week, at this rate....

ALPHA DIVISION: Thor Hammerskald (5-7, 12%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (7-5, 15%)

Amelia Williams: Our next contest is also scheduled for one fall in the Alpha Division! Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by Frankie Garnett, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: Much like Stevens, Hammerskald comes in tonight having lost three of his last four, and needs a win desperately to break a three-match skid.

Tori Montgomery: For whatever good Frankie's done, Bob, it's not showing in Thor's record.

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage, causing a mild reflection of light off his title belt. As he hits the end of the entrance ramp, he throws his arms into the air, sending a pair of mushroom clouds into the air from the stage as he makes his way to the ring and through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds, he is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: Since being victorious in Tag Team Turmoil, Templeton's picked up some momentum, winning two of his last three bouts and finding himself in the playoff tournament if the season ended tonight.

Tori Montgomery: While it's not the result he was hoping for, having been the runner-up in the last two seasons, he still has a respectable track record and still has a good chance at making up more ground before seasons' end.

ALPHA DIVISION: Maxx Skabb (7-5, 15%) vs. Sebastian Moore (3-9, 13%)

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall in the Alpha Division! Introducing first, from Manchester, England, weighing 237 pounds...Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: Moore has locked himself out of a winning season, but could salvage .500 if he wins the rest of his matches.

Tori Montgomery: Given that his form looks to be more of the season three form that saw him leave The League for a season, that's going to be a tall order, Bob.

Amelia Williams: His opponent from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds...Maxx Skabb!

Tori Montgomery: I know I should remain unbiased here, but Skabb's attack on Phoenix's shoulder last week was totally uncalled for.

Bob Sinclair: Have you heard anything from the Commissioner about possible repercussions?

Tori Montgomery: Not as of yet, Bob. The official position is "wait and see," and that's directly from the Commish's mouth.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of four minutes and twenty seconds...Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: And you notice that Moore got the hell out of the ring in a hurry as soon as the bell sounded!

Tori Montgomery: I don't blame him, Bob! You saw what Skabb could do last week!

Skabb gets back to his feet, looking ready to chase Moore down, but is stopped by no fewer than eight security guards wielding billy clubs. Even though he's off his rocker, Skabb realizes that in this case, it's not worth the hassle, and simply storms towards the back, surrounded by the aforementioned security guards.

OMEGA DIVISION: Rannulf von Krüshengberg (3-9, 10%) vs. Ian Carlisle (3-9, 18%)

Linkin Park's "What I've Done" blares through the arena as one of the League's youngest members steps into the arena. A moment later, he sprints towards the ring, sliding in under the bottom rope and heading to a corner to appeal to the fans.

Amelia Williams: This is our first Omega Division bout of the evening, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Blackpool, England, weighing 222 pounds...Ian Carlisle!

Bob Sinclair: Quite simply, this match is to avoid falling into last place in the Omega Division and being eliminated from contention to win the division title.

Tori Montgomery: Not a pleasant thought, Bob, but you know in the back of their minds they realize this.

Frankie Garnett: I wouldn't bet on it, Tori.

Tori Montgomery: Oh, lord. Who let you back here?

Frankie Garnett: At least people pay to listen to me!

Bob Sinclair: Will you two stop?!

The opening to Rammstein's "Mein Teil" hits the speakers as the largest member of The League emerges, causing everyone with something that could even remotely be considered food to get away from the entranceway as quickly as possible for fear of losing their food...and at least a body part or two.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from der Schwarzwald, Deutschland, weighing 421 pounds..."Der Panzer" Rannulf von Krüshengberg!

Bob Sinclair: Last week's win broke an eight-match losing streak for Rannulf, which is one of the longest such streaks in League history.

Frankie Garnett: Which shows you just what a big ball of suckitude looks like.

Tori Montgomery: I'm gonna tell him you said that, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: What's he gonna do, sit on me? He has to catch me first!

Bob Sinclair: Rannulf with a hard-fought win over the gutsy Carlisle, but one has to wonder how much it took out of him.

Tori Montgomery: He still has a ways to go to reach an even record, but the first step's been taken!

Frankie Garnett: And that's all he'll take before getting distracted by a chicken nugget or something.

ALPHA DIVISION: Diamond (8-4, 15%) vs. The Phoenix (9-3, 15%)

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall, and is for the Alpha Division lead! Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Amelia said it all there, folks. The winner here assumes control of the Alpha Division. For Diamond, it would be akin to a full match lead as she will have beaten Phoenix twice this season.

Frankie Garnett: Which means it will happen.

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, you have a lot of brown stuff around your nose.

Within Temptation's "Stand My Ground" hits the arena speakers as a League Original emerges from the back, through a wall of flame pyro. His face gives no emotions away as he walks to the ring, shadowboxing as he stops at the ring steps, draping his title belt on the second-to-top step. A moment later, he slams his left fist into the top step before looking up the heavens with a cry of "For the Fallen" coming from his lips. With no further ado, he steps between the ropes, ready to go to war once again. At ringside, Tori drops her headset to the table and walks towards his corner, taking the spot his estranged wife should be manning as he nods in recognition to her.

Amelia Williams: Her opponent, joined at ringside by Tori Montgomery, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds, he is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions and the current Alpha Division leader...this is The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: We'll see how much Phoenix's right arm, his dominant arm, is affected by the assault by Skabb last week.

Frankie Garnett: No way Phoenix wins this one-handed. No chance in hell.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of four minutes even, and the current Alpha Division leader...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond showing some veteran ring savvy there, putting all of her weight on Phoenix's good shoulder and daring him to kick out with the injured shoulder. An underhanded tactic, but effective as she wins control of the Alpha Division!

Frankie Garnett: And they say tag team wrestling is dead. Proof to the contrary, folks.

ALPHA DIVISION CAGE MATCH: Pizza Mask III (5-7, 15%) vs. Eidenhoek Gaiaspade (6-6, 15%)

Reaching into the van to pull out a Pain Pizza, he hands it off to one lucky fan at ringside before climbing the steps and entering the ring to the cheers of the fans in attendance.

Amelia Williams: The following Alpha Division contest is a steel cage match! Introducing first, from Your Friendly Neighborhood Pizzeria, weighing 199 pounds...Pizza Mask III!

Bob Sinclair: Tori rejoins us at ringside in time for this cage match, and you look ready to spit nails, Tori.

Tori Montgomery: It's Skabb's underhanded tactics in blatant support of his tag partner, not to mention how much of a loose cannon he's become! He could be directly responsible for ruining what could be an otherwise great divisional race, and he should be sanctioned for this!

Frankie Garnett: ...Are you ever going to take a breath, Tori? Sheesh!

Disturbed's "Indestructible" hits the arena as one of this season's rookies emerges from the back, looking surprisingly at ease despite the hard beat of the song. Jumping onto the apron from the floor, he steps between the ropes and calmly waits for the bell to get the match underway.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Island of Tria, weighing 205 pounds...Eidenhoek Gaiaspade!

Bob Sinclair: Moving on to this match-up, at stake is fifth place in the Alpha Division, and being on the tail end of the playoff bracket as of this week.

Tori Montgomery: This would be a boost to either man, especially if they can keep their position over the last five weeks.

Frankie Garnett: It's a wonder he didn't break his damn neck there.

OMEGA DIVISION: Sean (5-7, 15%) vs. Johnny Triumph (9-3, 15%)

Amelia Williams: This is an Omega Division contest scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, now residing in Los Angeles, California, weighing 230 pounds..."Hollywood" Sean!

Bob Sinclair: To say that Sean is underperforming is an understatement. He's struggled all season.

Frankie Garnett: It's not like him. Maybe the stress of being a former champ is getting to him?

Tori Montgomery: It would not surprise me in the slightest.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds, he is the Omega Division leader...Johnny Triumph!

Bob Sinclair: Triumph is in control of his own destiny at this point, and looks to solidify his hold on the division lead with a win tonight.

Tori Montgomery: A win would certainly give Triumph fans hope that he can become the first two-time League Champion.

Frankie Garnett: You say that as if there is any doubt.

Frankie Garnett: Mark my words, Triumph will be wrestling for the championship this season.

OMEGA DIVISION: Super Century (8-4, 16%) vs. Robbie Maynard (8-4, 15%)

Amelia Williams: This is an Omega Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds, he is the reigning and defending League Champion...Robbie Maynard!

Tori Montgomery: This match is crucial to both men; the winner will be tied for second place in the Omega Division heading into next week.

Bob Sinclair: For Maynard, a win gives him a huge boost in his quest to repeat as Champion.

Frankie Garnett: Against the twerp? Done deal.

OMEGA DIVISION: Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr. (6-6, 17%) vs. Tarik Nolan (5-7, 15%)

Amelia Williams: This bout is an Omega Division contest, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

Bob Sinclair: If Tarik's going to have any hope of finishing in the top half of the standings, he's going to need to string some wins together. He's only won two of his last five matches.

Tori Montgomery: For the life of me, I can't figure out just what is affecting him. It makes no sense to me.

Frankie Garnett: To no one's surprise...

"Here Comes the Money" hits the speakers, as one of last season's rookies emerges from the back, with a beautiful woman hanging off his left arm.

Bob Sinclair: Stanton enters tonight as the last entrant in the Omega Division playoff standings, and could use a win to give himself a much-needed boost against a League Original.

Frankie Garnett: I'll admit it, the kid's got a little spunk. He's my dark horse pick.

Tori Montgomery: Only given because he's at an even record, naturally....

Tori Montgomery: The kid's surprised me so far; if he keeps this up we may be looking at a new power player in The League!

OMEGA DIVISION: Dante Lorenzo (4-8, 15%) vs. Master Imoka (9-3, 21%)

Amelia Williams: Our main event of the evening is an Omega Division match scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Florence, Italy, weighing 291 pounds...Dante Lorenzo!

Bob Sinclair: Lorenzo has dropped sharply from last season, and needs a win to keep hopes of a winning season alive.

Frankie Garnett: He's at the end of his career; he should just give it up and go back to Italy. Maybe run a restaurant or something.

Tori Montgomery: A win tonight would give him a major boost to morale.

Bob Sinclair: An Imoka win would tie him with Triumph for the division lead.

@Survive_The_Sting! You know what? With all the $h!tty calls this year by the referees that have cost me matches and once again a place in this year's playoffs. I think I'm going to take it easy and lay down the rest of the season.

THE LEAGUE: SEASON FIVE, WEEK FOURTEEN

It is a slightly subdued atmosphere as the crowd files in to the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, with close to forty-one thousand in attendance for The League's seasonal trip through the UK. It is at high noon—the show is on a taped delay due to weather and location—when we turn to ringside and our commentary crew.

Bob Sinclair: Hello, everyone, and welcome back to The League! Bob Sinclair, at ringside with Frankie Garnett and Tori Montgomery, and tonight will go a long way towards determining just who makes the playoffs this season!

Tori Montgomery: Setting oneself up for a run at this point is vital, as the next four weeks are unknown territory for everyone involved with the League!

Frankie Garnett: Tori, you've been saying that for the last few weeks. Find some new material already!

Tori Montgomery: ...

Bob Sinclair: In any event, we're all ready to go, so let's head to the voice of The League, Amelia Williams, to get us underway this evening!

ALPHA DIVISION: Scott Stevens (5-8, 11%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (8-5, 12%)

As he finally gets to the ring, he climbs the nearest turnbuckle and stares down the entranceway, an icy glare and the throat slash gesture his only actions as he drops to the mat.

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, our opening contest of the day is an Alpha Division contest scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Houston, Texas, weighing 256 pounds...The Master of Disaster, The King of Sting, The Venomous One and Only, and the reigning Legacy Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion... he is "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Bob Sinclair: Scorpion has tweeted that he intends to simply lay down the rest of the season; any thoughts on this matter?

Frankie Garnett: Man has a right to. He's another promotion's champion, he can do whatever he damn well pleases!

Tori Montgomery: He claims inept officiating, I claim that he's overrated. All I'm going to say on the matter.

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage. As he hits the end of the entrance ramp, he throws his arms into the air, sending a pair of mushroom clouds into the air from the stage as he makes his way to the ring and through the ropes with title belt firmly in hand.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds, he is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: Nuclear comes in firmly slotted in the playoff hunt, and still with a chance at winning the division outright.

Tori Montgomery: Nuclear's one of the most consistent athletes in The League, and has the record to back that up. He's going to make a move in that division soon.

Frankie Garnett: Yeah, a move to the crapper. He's as bad as Skabb in that he chokes when the pressure is on! He's The League's version of the Buffalo Bills!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of ten minutes even...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: Nuclear picks up his ninth win of the season, and continues to aim towards the top of the division!

Tori Montgomery: Is it just me, or did Stevens tap entirely too early there?

Frankie Garnett: You're just imagining things, Tori. Like Stevens would ever lay down for anyone; the man is a born winner!

Tori Montgomery: All evidence to the contrary....

ALPHA DIVISION: Pizza Mask III (6-7, 12%) vs. The Phoenix (9-4, 13%)

Amelia Williams: This is an Alpha Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Your Friendly Neighborhood Pizzeria, weighing 199 pounds...Pizza Mask III!

Bob Sinclair: PM3 has a little history with his opponent tonight, mainly stemming back to Tag Team Turmoil a couple of months ago.

Tori Montgomery: Pizza Mask claims to have gotten over Phoenix choosing Nuclear as a partner, but old grudges can sometimes run deep.

Frankie Garnett: What does it matter, PM3 is a bit off in his head anyway.

Tori Montgomery: So says the man who got his clock cleaned by PM3.

Frankie Garnett: ...shut up....

Within Temptation's "Stand My Ground" hits the arena speakers as a League Original emerges from the back, through a wall of flame pyro. His face gives no emotions away as he walks to the ring, shadowboxing as he stops at the ring steps. He reverently lays his title belt on the second-to-top step, and then a moment later, he slams both fists into the top step before looking up the heavens with a cry of "For the Fallen" coming from his lips.

Bob Sinclair: One would expect Phoenix to have said something regarding this match on his Twitter page--@GloriousRequiem--leading up to it, but he's been uncharacteristically silent coming in to this match.

Frankie Garnett: Well, last I heard, the only people following him are Overeaters Anonymous and Golden Corral, so it's no big loss there.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of six minutes and fifty seconds...The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: Say what you will about Phoenix's style, it's become quite effective for him as he forces Diamond into needing a win to stay atop the Alpha Division!

Frankie Garnett: This guy can cure insomnia, Bob. Where is the pizzazz? The flashiness?

Bob Sinclair: Who needs flashiness when all you do is win, Frankie?

Frankie Garnett: ...

OMEGA DIVISION: Dante Lorenzo (5-8, 16%) vs. Tarik Nolan (5-8, 13%)

Amelia Williams: This is our first Omega Division bout of the day, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

Bob Sinclair: Nolan continues to struggle, finding himself on the outside looking in at this point as he tries to turn things around.

Frankie Garnett: Not going to happen. Nolan's let himself go too much this season; best to call it a wash and start preparing for the next one.

Tori Montgomery: Tarik still has some fight left in him, guys. I'm not about to close the book on his season just yet.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Florence, Italy, weighing 291 pounds...Dante Lorenzo!

Bob Sinclair: The sophomore jinx has hit Lorenzo hard, as one of the divisional champions last season is one match away from being unable to have a winning season.

Tori Montgomery: Everyone has off seasons, Bob. As long as Lorenzo can tough it out, he'll know what to worry about next season.

Frankie Garnett: Provided he survives that long.

Frankie Garnett: Again, it ain't gonna happen. Count on it.

ALPHA DIVISION: Maxx Skabb (7-6, 15%) vs. Diamond (9-4, 15%)

Amelia Williams: This Alpha Division bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds...Maxx Skabb!

Bob Sinclair: The stigma still surrounds Skabb that he cannot win a big match. Tonight's just about as big as they come as he faces the Alpha Division leader!

Tori Montgomery: Not to mention the psychotic streak he's been on over the last few weeks!

Frankie Garnett: Oh, you're just mad that he beat up on your boyfriend.

Tori Montgomery: Grr.....

Bob Sinclair: Given that just two months ago, these two were the Tag Team Turmoil champions, you know that they have to know each other very well coming in to this match!

Frankie Garnett: This has been done to death, you two. Need I even mention the infamous Commotion in—

Tori Montgomery: Are you TRYING to get us cancelled, Frankie? Leave Those-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named out of this!

Bob Sinclair: Skabb gives himself a bit of breathing room in the division, and at the same time knocks Diamond out of the division lead!

Frankie Garnett: Maxx, you imbecile! Why would you do that? Anyone but Phoenix!

Tori Montgomery: With four weeks to go, it's going to take everything Phoenix has to hold on to that lead until the end of the season!

OMEGA DIVISION: Super Century (8-5, 18%) vs. Johnny Triumph (10-3, 16%)

Amelia Williams: This Omega Division contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

Bob Sinclair: Century has been a major surprise to most everyone this season, coming in tonight with a playoff berth in his grasp if he can keep doing what he's been doing.

Frankie Garnett: Not gonna happen, Bob. Not in a division with Imoka, Maynard, Sean, Triumph, and Thor.

Tori Montgomery: And yet two of them—including Thor—are out of contention at the moment.

Frankie Garnett: ...so?

A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as he emerges from the entryway. Instead of taking the steps closest to him, he walks around to the opposite side of the ring, drawing in more jeers as he finally climbs the steps and enters the ring.

Amelia Williams: (opening) from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds, he is current Omega Division leader...Johnny Triumph!

Bob Sinclair: A Triumph win will let him remain in control of his own fate and in the hunt for his second League Championship.

OMEGA DIVISION: Sean (5-8, 17%) vs. Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr. (7-6, 18%)

Amelia Williams: This is an Omega Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, now residing in Los Angeles, California, weighing 230 pounds..."Hollywood" Sean!

Bob Sinclair: I've heard rumors that Sean may be on the verge of a breakdown, guys. Any truth to it?

OMEGA DIVISION: Ian Carlisle (3-10, 27%) vs. Master Imoka (9-4, 8%)

Linkin Park's "What I've Done" blares through the arena as one of the League's youngest members steps into the arena. A moment later, he sprints towards the ring, sliding in under the bottom rope and heading to a corner to appeal to the fans.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall in the Omega Division! Introducing first, from Blackpool, England, weighing 222 pounds...Ian Carlisle!

Bob Sinclair: Carlisle seems right at home among these raucous fans, guys!

Frankie Garnett: Not like it'll do him much good. These fans are wasting their breath!

Tori Montgomery: Given his challenge today, Carlisle's going to need the backing of everyone in this stadium, and then some!

Bob Sinclair: With Triumph's win earlier, Imoka needs this one to stay apace with Triumph and give himself a shot at the Omega Division lead.

ALPHA DIVISION: Jack Lightning (6-7, 19%) vs. Eidenhoek Gaiaspade (6-7, 17%)

Climbing onto the turnbuckles, he raises an arm in the air and drinks in the cheers of the crowd before dropping back to the mat and preparing for his match.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from London, Ontario, weighing 233 pounds...Jack Lightning!

Bob Sinclair: Lightning has been trying to maneuver his way into a playoff spot, and a win tonight would certainly help his case in the coming weeks.

Frankie Garnett: Or he could, you know, fade back into Jobberville.

Tori Montgomery: Shouldn't you be backstage getting Thor ready?

ALPHA DIVISION: Thor Hammerskald (5-8, 11%) vs. Sebastian Moore (4-9, 26%)

Bob Sinclair: Is it just me, or does Frankie seem to get more and more scared each week he comes out with Thor?

OMEGA DIVISION: Rannulf von Krüshengberg (4-9, 15%) vs. Robbie Maynard (9-4, 28%)

The opening to Rammstein's "Mein Teil" hits the speakers as the largest member of The League emerges, causing everyone with something that could even remotely be considered food to get away from the entranceway as quickly as possible for fear of losing their food...and at least a body part or two.

Amelia Williams: This is our main event of the evening, scheduled for one fall in the Omega Division! Introducing first, from der Schwarzwald, Deutschland, weighing 421 pounds..."Der Panzer" Rannulf von Krüshengberg!

Bob Sinclair: With the competition as tough as it is in the Omega Division, Rannulf's only hope is to win out and pray for some help.

Tori Montgomery: Given his opponent tonight, that might be tougher than it sounds....

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds, he is the reigning and defending League Champion...Robbie Maynard!

Tori Montgomery: This crowd is firmly behind the reigning champ, Bob, as he looks to make it a three-way hunt for the Omega Division lead!

Before Tori can finish that thought, a number of people storm the ringside area as a major brawl breaks out, nearing footy levels of chaos as constables try to wade in from the outside of the knot of pandemonium. Just before the cameraman gets knocked over and the feed abruptly cuts to black, a certain individual in bright orange seems to be laughing amidst the riot as he swings at anything and everything that moves....
