This post is reserved to be a guide for shows throughout each of The League's previous four seasons, to include preshows (both Beyond Ringside and The Flogg Splash), actual events, and hopefully notable RP's/Twitter bombs as well.

This is in progress, as I need to look through the season three/four thread to find links needed.

Season Five, Week One

November 16, 2011

After a victory from a League Original, and the second time for another to fall just short of the ultimate goal, we enter Season Five with the longest schedule to date for The League! Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the start of a brand-new season! I'm Tori Montgomery, and over the next few minutes I'll be discussing this season's two-division layout, analyzing the twenty men and women looking to take home the prestigious League Championship, and previewing the opening week's card. So sit back, folks, and enjoy as we once again begin the long journey towards crowning a League Champion.

THE DIVISIONS: SEASON FIVE

Mr. Derek B, by virtue of narrowly beating yours truly out for the Season Four prediction title, has elected to use a modified English FA format, and has divided the twenty competitors into two divisions of ten. The schedule is set up for a double round-robin in one's division only, making the season eighteen weeks long. Add in the traditional Tag Team Turmoil event spanning two nights, the playoffs, and a week off to celebrate Christmas, Season Five is slated to end in the middle of April.

While I have not yet been advised on the playoff system for this season, I'm inclined to believe that the two division champions will face off for the Championship, with the second through fourth positions in each division entered into a secondary tournament to sort out third through eighth place. If I am wrong, I'll find out soon enough, but for now, let's take a look at the divisions for the season.

ALPHA DIVISION

Diamond (w/Jayde)

Seasons of Experience: 4

Career Record: 27-29, 9 Matches of the Night, 1 Divisional Championship, Reigning Tag Team Turmoil Champion

Last Season: 8-6 (#9 overall)

Still the lone bastion of womankind in the ring, Diamond returns after missing the playoffs by the narrowest of margins last season. She has retained Jayde's services for the next two seasons, and looks ready to make another run. However, given the lineup of the division, I think she's going to struggle this season and see this season as a rebuilding one for her.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 8-12

Projected finish: #6 in division, 7-11

Eidenhoek Gaiaspade

Seasons of Experience: 1

Career Record: 4-10, 3 Matches of the Night

Last Season: 4-10 (#18 overall)

Gaius did not impress many people last season, coming in with a vastly sub-par record and finishing near the bottom of the rankings. He's been hard at work over the last couple of weeks, and vows that he will do better this season.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 1-5

Projected finish: #9 in division, 7-11

Jack Lightning

Seasons of Experience: 1

Career Record: 3-11, 3 Matches of the Night

Last Season: 3-11 (#19 overall)

To say that Lightning struggled last season would be an understatement. The Canadian cruiserweight couldn't get much momentum last season, and his record suffered for it. This season, with some experience behind him, I think he has a shot at a better finish, though still not above the .500 mark.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 2-4

Projected finish: #6 in division, 8-10

Maxx Skabb

Seasons of Experience: 4

Career Record: 29-27, 10 Matches of the Night, Reigning Tag Team Turmoil champion

Last Season: 8-6 / 1-2 playoffs (#4 overall)

For the second consecutive season, Skabb reached the playoffs and earned his first post-season win in the process. Is it possible that he's broken his second half slump? Possibly. But I think he'll put out a valiant effort and just barely miss out on winning the division.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 13-1

Projected finish: #2 in division, 12-6

Nuclear Templeton

Seasons of Experience: 4

Career Record: 37-19, 8 Matches of the Night, 2 Divisional Championships, 2-time League Runner-Up

Last Season: 9-5 / 2-1 playoffs (#2 overall)

One of the most consistent performers in The League, last season saw Nuclear fall just short once again of winning the League Championship. They say third time's the charm, and I see Nuclear getting that chance, as I project him to win the division and getting his third consecutive chance at the big one.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 13-5

Projected finish: Division Champ, 14-4

Pizza Mask III

Seasons of Experience: 1

Career Record: 5-9

Last Season: 5-9 (#17 overall)

PM3 had a rough season, taking his lumps (and a grade 2 concussion) en route to a 5-9 record in his rookie campaign. He's shown on Twitter that he is incredibly motivated this season, however much like Diamond, I think the line-up is going to wreck his chances for even a competitive season.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 0-7

Projected finish: Last in division, 5-13

Scott Stevens

Seasons of Experience: 3

Career Record: 21-21, 5 Matches of the Night

Last Season: 6-8 (#12 overall)

For all of the controversy, Stevens was rather quiet last season in the ring, preferring to take the fight to Twitter against most of his opponents. This season, I see him getting a winning record, but still falling short of the upper echelon. This may be the season he breaks out, though, and it would not surprise me in the slightest.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 10-12

Projected finish: #5 in division, 10-8

Sebastian Moore

Seasons of Experience: 2

Career Record: 14-14, 1 Match of the Night, 1 Division Championship

Last Season: N/A

Returning after a season's absence, Moore looks to emulate his rookie campaign in Season Two (a 10-4 run) instead of his abysmal 4-10 run in Season Three. I think the ring rust will get to him despite his time in LPW, and will be a minimal factor this season as he tries to re-acclimate himself to The League.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 3-9

Projected finish: #8 in division, 7-11

The Phoenix (w/???)

Seasons of Experience: 4

Career Record: 31-25, 5 Matches of the Night, 2 Divisional Championships, former Tag Team Turmoil Champion

Last Season: 10-4 / 1-2 Playoffs (#6 overall)

It's not clear yet how Phoenix's manager situation is panning out, given that he already paid for Te'Snilo to return and she essentially bailed on him, especially given the off-season drama he is dealing with. I see him buckling down to take out his frustrations in The League, but it won't be enough to get him the division title.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 16-8

Projected finish: #3 in division, 11-7

Thor Hammerskald (w/Frankie Garnett)

Seasons of Experience: 3

Career Record: 22-20, 6 Matches of the Night, 1 Division Championship

Last Season: 8-6 / 2-1 Playoffs (#3 overall)

Thor showed last season that he has the potential to go all the way; this season given the line-up and the level of competition, I see him struggling to break even in this division. It could be a long one for the Norseman.

Career regular season record vs. other Alpha Division members: 10-6

Projected finish: #4 in division, 9-9

OMEGA DIVISION

Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr. (w/Missy Callistra)

Seasons of Experience: 1

Career Record: 6-8, 2 Matches of the Night

Last Season: 6-8 (#14 overall)

The resident "upset specialist," Stanton seems to be rather hit-or-miss as to when he decides to show up to wrestle. The fact that he can pull out wins against just about anyone makes him a bit of a threat, but not in this season.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 4-5

Projected finish: #9 in division, 7-11

Dante Lorenzo

Seasons of Experience: 1

Career Record: 9-5, 1 Match of the Night, 1 Divisional Championship

Last Season: 9-5 / 1-2 Playoffs (#7 overall)

Last season's rookie breakout, Lorenzo struggled in the playoffs due to the lack of experience. I see him as a contender once again this season, but ultimately falling short in the end.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 2-3

Projected finish: #4 in division, 10-8

Ian Carlisle

Seasons of Experience: 2

Career Record: 8-20, 4 Matches of the Night

Last Season: 2-12 (#20 overall)

Carlisle struggled last season, finishing last in the League. While it's not unheard of for the last place person one season to win his division the following season, I just don't see Carlisle being much of a threat this season.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 3-9

Projected finish: Last in division, 6-12

Johnny Triumph

Seasons of Experience: 4

Career Record: 34-22, 9 Matches of the Night, 2 Divisional Championship, 1 League Championship

Last Season: 10-4 / 0-3 Playoffs (#8 overall)

Triumph showed last season that he remains a threat to anyone in The League, though his playoff appearance left a lot to be desired. I see him in contention all season, but falling short right at the end of the season

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 9-9

Projected finish: #2 in division, 11-7

Master Imoka

Seasons of Experience: 1

Career Record: 6-8

Last Season: 6-8 (#13 overall)

Imoka's League debut was average, which is a far cry from his claims of having superior technique. I see him remaining just under .500 on the season, finishing in the middle of the Omega Division pack.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 2-4

Projected finish: #7 in division, 8-10

Rannulf von Krüshengberg

Seasons of Experience: 1

Career Record: 6-8, 2 Matches of the Night

Last Season: 6-8 (#15 overall)

Rannulf was rather inconsistent last season, having trouble finishing matches despite his size advantage. Until he learns to go for the win here in The League, he will only amount to an average wrestler here.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 4-5

Projected finish: #6 in division, 8-10

Robbie Maynard

Seasons of Experience: 4

Career Record: 32-24, 5 Matches of the Night, 1 Divisional Championship, Defending League Champion

Last Season: 9-5 / 3-0 Playoffs (#1 overall)

Maynard won it all last season, coming from the #5 seed in the playoffs and beating Thor, Skabb, and Templeton en route to glory. This season, I think it will be tough for him to repeat, and I see him finishing near the bottom of the division due to upsets and opponents trying to up their game against him.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 9-10

Projected finish: #8 in division, 8-10

Sean

Seasons of Experience: 4

Career Record: 40-16, 5 Matches of the Night, 3 Divisional Championships, 1 League Championship

Last Season: 11-3 / 2-1 Playoffs (#5 overall)

Despite finishing last season with the best record, Sean lost in the opening round of the playoffs to Maxx Skabb. If he hadn't, he might have repeated as champion. As it stands, I see him making the championship match yet again, giving him a chance at becoming the first two-time League Champion.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 17-1

Projected finish: Division Champion, 12-6

Super Century

Seasons of Experience: 2

Career Record: 8-20, 6 Matches of the Night, former Tag Team Turmoil champion

Last Season: N/A

The other League member returning after a one-season hiatus, Century looks to do better than four wins per season. I see him matching his career win total, but ultimately stuck in the logjam of 8-10 wrestlers in this division, which he will be ahead of due to AMR.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 3-6

Projected finish: #5 in division, 8-10

Tarik Nolan

Seasons of Experience: 4

Career Record: 29-27, 8 Matches of the Night, former Tag Team Turmoil champion

Last Season: 7-7 (#11 overall)

Tarik is nothing if not consistent. In four seasons, he's been at or one match under .500 for three of them, with the exception being in Season Two as part of the Gamma Division's "Big Three." This could be a breakout season for him but with Triumph and Sean in this division, I see him doing no better than third.

Career regular season record vs. other Omega Division members: 11-12

Projected finish: #3 in division, 10-8

NEWS AND NOTES FROM THE COMMISSIONER'S DESK

There are a couple of things to note here, so League members who are regulars to the column should pay attention.

1. The Schedule

Due to a pair of League interns accidentally erasing the original copy of the schedule, it is not available for public viewing at this time. When it is ready, I will alert everyone as to how to access it. The Commissioner has a copy in his office under lock and key, which means that at the time this goes to air, at least, the schedule is only available for this week.

2. The "Lock of the Week"

This is something I will implement during the second half of the season, to allow predictors time to gain a suitable amount of points to use. When the time comes, I will explain more about this mechanic.

3. Tag Team Turmoil

Instead of coming up with something new here, I'm going to simply repeat what was said last year about it as a refresher to everyone involved. The only thing changed is the week the event will happen.

Given the swiftness that the field filled up for last season's Tag Team Turmoil event, Commissioner Marshall has given the go-ahead for teams to start forming for the event that will occur after Week Nine. What follows are my editor's notes regarding some specifics that I have not been specifically notified about regarding new features in the tournament this season.

(Note from SF: Now that I can break the fourth wall, so to speak, here's the skinny. This season, I will be inserting each team into the database as its own entry. Repeated tagging with the same partner in Tag Team Turmoils will increase the "experience" of the team and allow for possible saves from your partner when in a pin/submission attempt. (I will allow teams returning from previous Tag Team Turmoils to use those events to increase experience.) If you have an idea for a team name (Team LARIATO, Norse Code, etc.), shoot that to me and I'll incorporate it into the database and the write-ups as well.

In addition, I will allow each team five "standard" double-team moves to use—these would be non-finishers like a double suplex, Poetry in Motion, etc.—and one tag-team finisher (Dudley Death Drop, Doomsday Device, or something of your own creation like a double DVD for Tarik/Phoenix. I'll allow naming of moves for the finisher.). This is something that you and your partner should talk about—heck, you have about two months to get ideas together, after all!

Teams forming will be handled the same as last season—either confirmation in the thread with both people agreeing, or via PM to me. Brackets will be determined by you, the members of The League. When you have confirmed your team, I'll have you give me a number between 1 and 10 that has not been taken yet; that will determine which spot you have in the (randomly pre-determined) brackets. Anyone who is not on a team by the end of Week Nine will be randomly assigned to a team. Any questions, feel free to ask here in the thread or via PM.

And now, back to Tori.)

THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE

Nagano, Japan (Japan--Chubu)

(Strict rules enforcement, ref bumps allowed, Strong style match)

This is the only stop in Japan this season, for reasons that I was not privy to at the time of schedule negotiating. Ten matches on the card, all of which are divisional matches (which will hold true for the entire regular season), so let's get right to it. Note that for this week, I will not be providing reasons for my picks in order to get adequately ready for our premier this coming Tuesday. (Also read as: I've been up for 36 hours straight, I'm tired lol)

First of all... I'm happy that Nuclear vs Sean is the predicted final. It's what Nuclear wants... it's probably what Sean wants... and it might even be what the fans want. Epic winning! :D

Second... with SGRaaize out of the League, that means Nuclear doesn't have a default tag team partner. Applications should be sent to Nuclear, who has no friends on which to call when times get tough. It could be the start of something beautiful. :)

Third... I hope everyone likes the groups. I put them together fairly quickly and tried to remember who wanted to be against who. I'm sure I forgot some combinations, but hopefully this will work out well and make for some interesting matches. :)

Lastly... predictions! Don't let me win again or I'll set up a new schedule that will see Nuclear go against whoever finishes last this season in every week whlie everyone else will be forced to fight in first blood matches all season. I'm sure that's within my power. :p

Press Conference

So I have prepared a brief statement for those who still care for the Ian Carlisle era. Last season I will be the first to admit that whlist I wrestled a series of great matches , the results were to say the least, poor , now I have been wrestling in period between Seasons and even though I have been sucessful, for me I need to get into a playoff position to justify myself as a wrestler.

Q) What theme are going to use as your theme

A)

Linkin Park What I have Done

Q) What are you going to Do to improve?

A) Well I have been working on developing more on my all round game as I feel that it has been a weakness for me in my Carrer , that as others have grown as Wrestlers, I have stood Still.

Q) What is your opinion On Tori Montgomery predicting you to finish last in the divsion?

A) She is entiled to that opinion as I have not really done anything to deserve anything more than being predictied last, and I hope to prove them wrong this year.

So, due to a class that took half my day, not as much was done as I'd have liked. I'm going to be rounding out moveset lists tonight and tomorrow, and hopefully have any updates posted before Saturday night.

I have added links to current League standings and the current week's schedule in the first post, for easy reference come later in the season so you don't have to go back through 15-20 pages to find the current lists you need. I've also copied the list of season one/two links over that Prophet set up. I will be starting catch-up on season three and four after the first show of the season airs, and hope to have that done in short order.

If anyone has banners they want me to use for their character to link to their bio sheets, let me know via PM so I can utilize them as needed. Otherwise, they will be simple things due to my limited graphics skills.

Bio sheets I hope to have up by the second or third week this season, as soon as I can figure out why my FTP isn't accepting the .PNG or .GIF images to send to my server for the training snapshots and get the rest of them finished.

Nice choice, sir. I'll make that change on my entrance macro thing I use. :D

If anyone else wants to change their entrances, now's the best time to do it.

We can't have so many LP songs going at once, so I'll go a little heavier and switch Jack's theme to Ride the Lightning by Metallica. :p

Just a reminder to folks that you have just over 24 hours to make predictions for the opening show of the season.

I am about to head into the game to start running matches; I doubt I will be doing teasers this week since I still have a few things to finalize to ensure the show is ready (mainly, re-writing most of my entrance macros to reflect changes I've gotten), not to mention actually writing the commentary for the show. (Plus that gives me a chance to make sure all my new features for my spreadsheet work as intended... ;) )

<p>I can't promise I'll get the show up tonight, folks. I had a bit of an emergency come up and I'm just now getting home to start the commentary portion of the program as I spent this afternoon tweaking and fine-tuning the entrance macros to make it easy on me.</p><p> </p><p>

As I have off from work tomorrow, I will try to get things set up and ready for week two during the times I'm not needed elsewhere. Let's just say that I have a damn good reason for the delay, and that I wouldn't be delaying the first show of a season for any old reason.</p><p> </p><p>

Again, I'll try to get it up tonight but I can't promise anything.</p>
