With everyone seeming to have some kind of online presence these days I figure its finally time to do it for myself. For those of you not in the know, let me fill you in.

 

My father owns a multinational media network. That should be enough for you to know my name... no, ok, let me tell you a story.

 

Once upon a time there was an Internationally renowned wrestling promotion based right here in the US. The man who owned it was a good man, but over the years he began to lose sight of what worked in the real world. He was a man stuck in the past, a man with a head full of dreams. But as we all know most dreams are a bit odd and never make sense in the morning. As the world got more edgy and changed around him he only saw the cartoon of life.

 

And so that promotion went the way of the dodo. Gone, all gone. But not forgotten...

 

That man was my father. The promotion, the WWWE. My father lost his way, I have always intended not to make the same mistake.

 

So, now a different story.

 

I had dinner with my sis Lois and her new fella over the New Year. Me and Tim got chatting and, well, a lot of what he said made sense. People have been saying to me for years 'Chase, when you gonna bring back WWWE?'. Now, don't get me wrong, I've thought about it long and hard. My name alone running the ship, my connections, I could have AWF on the ropes within a year, but I've never been sure. I mean, yeah, money is no object, but do I really want to drag the family name and the promotion it made famous through the mud a second time if I get it wrong?

 

But yeah, Tim had some good ideas, some good theories, the guy sure does get the game. The one thing he told me, the one thing that rings true in all of wrestling.

-You need a figurehead, a man who can be the recognisable leader of the company, a man that people will see in the street and instantly think 'Hey, that's X, the champ of Y, lets get his autograph!'. Someone who can be your legacy...

 

I know what Tim was getting at, and he had a point...

It was like lightning hit my brain. After they left I made a few calls and spent the night on the internet, 6 expressos, some Vivaldi on the i-pod touch. By 10am I had a lot sorted, by the following Tuesday the deal was done! Its amazing what money can achieve, especially in a poorer economy...

ERIC TALKS LEGACIES

Hey folks, welcome back. Now I know I've spent the last few weeks ragging on AWF in general, Terry in particular, but today I want to talk to you about something particular to yours truly, legacies in wrestling.

 

You see, loads of guys out there are second, sometimes third generation wrestlers. Its a family tradition. Myself, well, you've all heard of my Pa, Guy Lothario, the best worker of his generation, maybe ever. That there, ladies and gents, is a hell of a thing to live up to. Now I know my Pa never got a break, worked his way to the top, but come on! The son of the worlds greatest wrestler can't get a foot on the ladder?

 

Many would say, and have, that I blew my shot at the big time when I

nearly

hurt Chaperone, due to his own incompetence I might add, and got canned from AWF after seven months. But we all know that was a little dig, straight from Terry Thunder to my Pa, so I don't reckon that counts for much.

 

But here's the thing to remember, I ain't the only one with a legacy to fulfill. A couple of weeks ago I got a call off a good buddy of mine. Now, I record all my calls for legal reasons, and with my pal's permission here it is, unedited and in full

What is Paige/Lothario: Legacies

So, this is my second ever TEW diary, my first having died quite quickly due to time constraints. I spent some time writing diaries in the CBH section, but all my data got wiped so I've come back to the reason I love GDS in the first place, TEW.

 

This diary is based in the jhdVerse. To be more precise, and as you can probably tell, this diary is based in the version of jhdVerse that is currently being played out in jhd1's

AWF: The Thunder Era

diary (with his permission of course) and as things progress I'm sure Brian Jack will be along to throw his two cents into the pot in the same way that Eric is doing over there already. It will chart the rise of both Chase Paige and Eric Lothario: Chase as he attempts to wipe the tarnish from his family name and Eric as he tries to live up to his.

 

The two diaries will be running concurrently as of the first LWA show, so things that effect the AWF diary could also effect the LWA diary and vice-versa. The diary will have much the same feel as AWF: The Thunder Era, but more from the perspective of Chase & Eric in their respective blogs as they chart their progress of taking the world by storm, as well as a possible third perspective to be added as things progress

 

Although I’m aware that some people may not have played the jhdVerse, there will not be a huge roster review to begin with. This is for two reasons - 1) anything I would write down is easily available in the mod, and 2) character development in the form of profiles will probably be a feature of the diary going forward. There will, however, be a roster/champions list as of January 2012's first show. There will be a roster update every in-game month or so, depending on how much change there is within the promotion.

So, the cat is out of the bag. Bit gutted about it to be honest, when I find out who leaked that transcript at Buey's offices heads will roll, mark my words.

 

I figure everyone is going to want to know what's going on so, rather than answer a million emails I'll just lay it out on the table right now.

 

Yes, the transcript is 100% genuine.

 

Yes, I gave Álvaro Buey Jr's promotion $5,000,000 to get the unpaid job of Head Booker.

 

And no, I haven't lost my mind.

 

Tim was right, I don't have to start at the top. But I also don't want to open my own promotion straight away. I liked the look of the latin flavor of LWA, a place where the odd over-the-top character can co-exist with a down-the-line machine and everything inbetween, so I bought my way in. I'm a businessman, it's what I do. And speaking of business...

 

BUSINESS

So, I've changed a few things in the LWA. Nothing major though.

 

Ticket Prices:

These were criminally low, so I've jacked them by $4

T&A:

Now it may not be that big a deal for some people, but I always feel that if you're running a promotion where the fans care more about the entertainment than the workrate you should probably get a hot girl or two in to keep the teenage boys in their seats.

Promotion Pacts:

I've been busy since the 9th, spoken to a lot of bookers and owners around the US. Here's a list of what I've been up to

N.B. I also tried to sign a Non-Aggression pact with Thunder at AWF, but he heard that Eric was on the books and turned me down point blank... what a guy!

CHASE PAIGE INTRODUCES HIMSELF AND ERIC TO THE LOYAL LWA CROWD

Paige came out and rubbed the crowd straight up the wrong way. He basicly came out, declared that owner Buey Jr didn't have a clue and they should throw away what they think they know about LWA. He then introduced the new future of LWA, Eric Lothario. Chase then went on to introduce a match he called Lower Card Chaos. He then promised that afterwards all the 'hicks' and 'spiks' in the audience could go refill their glasses at the bar before the show started properly.

Honestly, it was a bit hit and miss. If the point was to make sure a: Folks know who was the boss now and b: Get some cheap heat, then I say job done. IMO Chase might have gone a bit far, although there were still people taking their seats at this point, so a few folks may have missed it.

Reviewers Thoughts:

Despite winning the match Frightening just looked a little off his game. Could be cos he's so used to tag competition, could have been the fact that people were still finding their seats and coming back from the bar.

The fact that Cordero Calderon came down to the ring with PR Flash kept some people interested, he basicly spent 10 minutes at ringside signing autographs and getting pictures taken holding babies. In fact Dos accidentally punching Calderon, Calderon no selling it and Dos dropping to his knees begging for his life was for me the high-light of the match. Which says a lot. But most folks just weren't ready for a spot-fest straight off the bat.

She also introduced her new clients to the ring, two former MMA fighters, two of the hardest men in pro-wrestling, Bruiser Cassidy and Tank Dixon, the CAGE WARRIORS!

A decent, solid promo from the sexy Ms Vann and she hyped the newly formed duo of Cassidy & Dixon pretty well. A talented wrestler in her own right I'm surprised to see her in a manager role, but she pulled it off well. I look forward to seeing more of her (take that any way you want folks)

Odd gimmick to give Alexander and Scorcho, but they played them brilliantly, so more credit to them I say! All in all, a solid tag match. Two bad-boy bullies beat down two guys the crowd had never seen before and didn't really care about.

Decent action in the ring all round, and it certainly put the Cage Warriors over as dominating bad-asses, backing up what the delightfull Ms Vann said earlier.

Paige said in his blog Scorcho and Alexander were a one shot deal, but I'd like to see them back, they really gelled as a team. Maybe with a more sensible gimmick though

A solid midcard four-way there, nothing too spectacular but thats no bad thing.

Cordero Calderon was acting more like a manager this time around, seems like the whole 'Patriots Standing Strong' thing is finally coming together, good to see that Paige hasn't nixed everything from the old LWA. Angelique was a good addition to the atmosphere too. And she still looks as good as she did at the end of WWWE (just sayin)

Probably a good call on giving Azaria the Puerto Rican title, gives the new stable some gold. I would have rather seen it on Bennett or Homicide though, we all know Azaria is going to be a star one day, give someone else a chance!

LA BUEY INTRODUCES HIS NEW BODYGUARD

La Buey's music hit and the boos almost brought the house down, man this guy is hated! He grabbed a mic and spoke about how he had to let Cassidy follow his career, and he wished him well. But a man of his importance needs some security and so he introduced... Big E.

The former Eviscerator, in the biggest suit I've ever seen, walked to the ring, pausing to growl at small children. A man in the crowd got a bit cocky and then literally soiled himself when Big E grabbed him by the shirt.

Once in the ring La Buey warned any over-zealous patriots out there, don't mess with La Buey, or you answer to Big E. He also warned that his new security would be proving his destructive capabilities on a random victim later this evening

 

Reviewers Thoughts:

La Buey is so over you can taste it. And the crowd were

actually

terrified of Big E. The veiled threat to Cordero Calderon and his friends was a nice touch too. This angle was way too good for this point on the card, but it perked the crowd up a bit.

A good outting for both teams. The team member switcheroo was a good touch, I'll be honest, when that happened I thought we had new champions. Angelique, despite being 24/7's new manager, was absent from ringside for this match, presumably to make the switcheroo easier to engineer.

Once again, nice to see old storylines hanging on under Paige's watch, but now the champs have no planned opponents and no direction so lets see how Paige books the Tag Division from this point on.

As Binks & Martin celerbate their win in the ring Los Numeros regrouped on the outside, then jumped in the ring and attacked the champions.

While the 5 men brawled Big E stomped his way to the ring, climbed in and began destroying everyone in there, Body-Slamming and Chokeslamming everyone in his path. With only Zach Martin left standing Big E picked him up and delivered a massive E-Bomb

before growling at the audience and walking away while medics rushed out and tended to the 5 men in the ring.

Well Big-E certainly proved he is not a man to be messed with! 24/7 & Los Numeros did a good job of selling it too, Zach Martin took that E-Bomb like a trooper, I swear he was spitting up blood while the medics looked him over!

CALDERON & PAIGE MAKE A DEAL

The massive jumbotron that Paige bought for the promotion finally jumps into life. Cordero Calderon is shown walking backstage, then knocking on a door and entering. In the room Chase Paige is seated behind a desk.

Calderon goes ape about what just happened in the ring. He says that La Buey will never let their match be a fair fight for the title while Big E is around. Paige considers things and tells Calderon that he

will

ban Big E from ringside but if La Buey wins clean Calderon will not get another shot at the title. He the gets up out of his chair and tells Calderon he's got to go, he has 'business' to attend to, before walking out of the office. The camera follow him out of the office and down the hall where he is found psyching up Eric Lothario.

 

Reviewers Thoughts:

Interesting angle. Make or break time for Calderon, good way to hype the main event. And, of course, showing us that Eric is up next.

Man, was that painfull! Firstly, Loco just didn't look happy out there. Secondly, the pair just did

not

gel at all. Thirdly, I'm not sure if Eric has ever worked with a comedy wrestler before, but you're surposed to play along a bit, not just shake your head, smirk, and kick them in the gut. Future of LWA, hmmm? Well for two of the guys higher up on the card (remember, until recently Loco was one of the very top guys in the LWA) to pull of this quality of match wasn't a good start IMO.

SHAY INTRODUCES HIMSELF / YOU DON'T CROSS SCOTT

The jumbotron jumps into life again. We see Shay Kinsella walking down a corridor talking to camera. He tells the audience how he used to be a big star but took some time away from the ring. Now he's back and psyched to be part of the LWA.

Walking backwards he bumps into Scott Cross, who gets up in Shay's face about it. Shay argues back and the two shove each other. Cross says Shay has crossed the line and demands to meet him in the ring, right now!

As good a way as any to set up an 'impromptue' match between two debuting main eventers

That's more like it! A decent match from both men, the only shame here is that they couldn't both win. Personally, I think Cross cheating to win was a good move, Shay looked strong out there, they were evenly matched. All in all, a decent semi-main event to hype the crowd up.

Álvaro Buey Jr took to the ring and conducted the ring introductions for Cordero Calderon and La Buey. He hyped Calderon as the greatest wrestler in all Puerto Rico and berated his turncoat brother La Buey in the most venomous way possible.

A good use for Jr, he doesn't usually come front of house at all but his presence seemed to please the regular fans and it certainly whipped them up for the main event!

*The match went back and forth for around 13 minutes until it finally looked like Calderon had La Buey beaten...*

*Calderon's stablemate and protege Daniel Azaria ran to the ring to fend off his former friend and tag partner*

*With all hell breaking loose referee Joe Preston had no choise to throw the match out*

Reviewers Thoughts:

Man, these guys work so well in the ring together its untrue, its easy to see why the last few months of LWA main events have mainly featured these two guys. And with the match thrown out neither man won, so it looks like the feud is set to continue. The only negative I could mention is that by the end the pair of them were visibly flagging, Cordero

almost

looked relieved when he saw Vidal running towards the ring!

Also nice to see Vidal & Azaria out there, I was worried their feud was going to be forgotten.

Overall, a decent main event, but I could sense that the crowd were expecting a definitive finish either way. Good to keep them guessing I s'pose.

GRADE: C+

 

 

OVERALL THOUGHTS

 

A solid show for the most part. Nice new tag team in The Cage Warriors, some sexy new women, good debuts for Shay Kinsella and Scott Cross (but a pretty poor one for Eric Lothario) and a fairly good main event. A fun show all round really, although nothing spectacular. If Paige & Lothario want to rule the world their going to have to put on something a bit better than that!

LOTHARIO & PAIGE DEBUT MENTIONED ON WRESTLING CLASSICS. LWA'S NEW SIGNING INJURED ALREADY?

JANUARY 27 2012

 

As many of you know, Eric Lothario made his in-ring debut for Puerto Rico-based Legacy Wrestling Alliance two nights ago with a victory over masked wrestler Poco Loco. Eric's hiring coincided with the company's takeover by Eric's close friend (no, not me) Chase Paige. Chase is the son of the final WWWE owner, and the man many blame for nearly destroying the sport in the US, Turner Paige. Most significantly the PR antics of Lothario and Paige were given nationwide television coverage on last night's episode of Wrestling Classics - the USA Sports 1 show that currently holds the archives of both the WWWE and RAWA. The show is currently running a feature on the relationship between Guy Lothario and Turner Paige, hence the nod towards the new business relationship between the two men's sons.

 

In other LWA/WWWE news, former WWWE Ladies Champion and new LWA signing Angelique injured herself in her first show with the company. It is being reported that Angelique, BF Reed's new manager, bruised her back after hitting a Diving Senton on Clayton Bennett during her client's match for the LWA Regional title. Despite her injury, Angelique is expected to return for the company's next show in February.

Yeah, Tank tends to show up in most of my games too, but with another former MMA guy on the roster the tag team just made too much sense to pass up, and the fact that they popped up with positive chemistry certainly made my day

 

This diary and jhd's are meant to be running side by side, but with his current computer problems I'll be skipping ahead a bit to my next show relatively soon before taking a bit of time out to let jhd catch up, we'll have a bit more story first though
