Kamchatka's Logo Thread (TEW 2013)

Recommended Posts

<p>Love the png badge. Dig the lion too. The default GCW logo was great but I get a bit of an old school vibe from the Lion in it so a more modern looking design is a nice addition. Very interested to see what you do for BCG, they have my favourite logo in the game by far .</p><p> </p><p>

Are you self taught Kam or have you done a course in graphic design? I'm hoping self taught so I might be able to get somewhere near you in the far off future without entering a classroom, haha.</p>

<p>Wow, that's awesome. The new one has a insane amount of depth. Didn't even know you made the first one Kam. While it shows your technical ability has improved, the actual design for the logo was awesome in the first place, as was the end result you achieved. Do you remember how many years of design you had under your belt on the first one?</p><p> </p><p>

As for feeling like a fraud, that's silly. Your work here is amazing, you're very talented and if you get the results who cares about a piece of paper to say that you're capable? Seriously, if you needed brain surgery would you go with a guy who's done 2,000 operations with a 99.9% success rate and no doctorate or a guy fresh out of med school with a shiny new certificate and no operations? I mean, graphic design is obviously more important than brain surgery but I stand by the example I gave.</p>

Believe me Cam, as a person with a four year degree in Fine Art and Design, you have no need to feel fraudulent. I can't even begin to explain how many dollars (and moments of your time) are wasted in college from being forced to take a bunch of classes you don't need or care about. Working experience, and proof that you can design far outweigh the degree.

^What those guys said. I'm new to commenting here, but I've been visiting here off and on for a few years and have used just about all of your logos in '10 and now '13. You do fantastic work, and I'm being completely selfish when I say keep it up. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I chuckle that the guy that most of us who design logos aspire to be as good as is humble enough to feel fraudulent as a designer.

Once upon a time, people did jobs because they learned to do jobs, not because they were accredited to do them or some school told them they were now qualified to do it. I spent years in Journalism school, and when I first became a reporter, I realized the vast majority of it meant nothing. There was no way to prepare myself for what it was really like when I first went out in the field. What I learned, I learned by doing. That's how you learn all good things worth doing.

I've been thinking about revisiting BCG, might take a bit of time to track down the original lion image I used for them.

I'm self taught mostly. I got about half an hour's introduction to Photoshop when I was doing work experience as a kid, but then didn't do anything with it for many years. Fraudulent??? I don't think so. I can understand how you might feel that way however. I can only go off my own experiences, but when I started doing the title renders, I had no "training" or even any art knowledge. I'm the least artistic person around. I can't draw, free hand or on a computer. My titles started with me just cut and pasting promotion logos on an additional real world title pic. But like Luchador just said, the more I did it, and enjoyed it, the better I got. The turning point was when everyone on here started asking for renders, and ultimately when Adam himself asked to use my renders and then started asking for renders for new promotions.

This has been long winded and the point will most likely be lost, but, I guess my point is, don't feel that way my friend. We all enjoy your work, and well, that's all that matters. Please keep doing what you are doing.

Aside I was expecting a little bit of yellow on the tiger, it's a great logo!

It captures the vibe of being part of the Modern Japan Movement.

Thanks to all for the words of encouragement. Was certainly not expecting to see so many responses when I came back to my computer.

I did attempt to copy the yellow/black half and half tiger stripe motif of the original, but unfortunately the result was that he ended up looking like a dodgy X-Men reject.

..and a quick reworking of an old one because it always looked like an odd tire.

Guess its not much use for people in the 2013 verse but oh well!

ARGHHH!! I hate you Kam ;) every time I think I'm improving. You produce something that completely blows my stuff outta the water.

Great logo for MAW and ROF, also can I be cheeky ask what that font is for the MAW logo.

Its Americorps (Bold)

Here's a logo I'm not content with.. I think I may rework the stripes so that theyre bigger and show more colour.

..or just scrap it and go back to the drawing board. 21CW continues to elude me.
