Cappy, I'm going to hunt down that mod to see what you've done... even if I can't use it with the current game.

I did port the related angles over to the new game. But I haven't worked on translating them to 2013 methodology yet. That calls for more mental energy than there is to spare during the Christmas season.

I never, ever used the old templated storylines, and I could never really figure out a reason anyone would. The fun in this game comes from the creative act of molding an old roster or creating a new one, then throwing all your guys up against each other. I'd rather that be a creative act than something as simple as ticking off some checkboxes.

Well that's nice dude. But some of us had fun writing out the storylines and seeing if they'd work in the mod. There's just as much creativity, we just know long term where we want to go. Now we can do that with excell or word I guess, but with the template editor it was easier. And for me, more fun.

But to each their own.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I like the unchained storylines as well, but I appreciated being able to plan in advance and set it up ready to go through. I also found it really interesting to see the storylines some of the great contributors here had come up with, and relive a few of my favourite feuds using CVerse guys.

Sounds like a good plan to me - so 2 threads, titled "Storylines Thread - Storylines Only Please" and "Storylines - Comments And Discussion"?

If people want me to, I'll try and start them off and that way we could use the first post as an index, then maybe post each separate storyline in a new post? Just thinking out loud here! (Or as I type, at least.)

If people like this idea, will try and set it up tomorrow. (If anyone else wants to leap in, though, feel free.)

It really sucks that this has been completely removed from the game. I'm sure I will be ridiculed and yelled at but 2013 just isn't as fun as 2010 was/is for me.</p>

The ability to pre-book matches and angles is a decent substitute for chained story lines. You can script out a six month feud pretty quickly and run straight through it without any of the annoyances of missing steps or using the wrong type of angle.

I haven't used chained storylines for a long, long time, but I like the idea of having a bank of references to work from. I don't think it even needs to be broken down into every step, but some sort of description, an intended outcome and some major plot points would work well.</p><p> </p><p> In fact, I actually started something similar in a word document a while ago, but it isn't really in any state to post (it's full of references to things I can't even remember!). <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I mostly used unchained but I did like using the chained ones for guidelines. I think the Storyline Only thread is a great idea. I created some "new" DOTT storylines and can post them after the New Year some time.

They were:

The Greatest Hour of Wrestling (the MSW doube turn of Dibiase and Murdoch)

Lawler vs Idol/Rich

Lawler vs Dundee (this was the run from 85-86 that included two Loser Leave Town matches and the Bill & Buddy Show)

I think there were some more generic ones like an open challenge and singles/tag debut string. Some might be a little harder because you can't really advance the storyline in a Hype Video for a singles anymore. Might have to change to an announcer hyping the guy instead

I so look forward to seeing some of these. I've always enjoyed using the DOTT stories. New ones that haven't been at my disposal before would be great.

I really don't see why that had to go. Single person angles weren't ever the ones that caused storylines to go off track. The stuff that usually fouled things up were the ones where folks couldn't decide if a Subject or a Surprise were called for in their casting. Subject has seemingly always been the most misunderstood role in angle booking. I've seen Subject/Victim confusions. Subject/Support. Subject/Surprise. But just about always Subject/something else.

I agree. Hype videos/vignettes have been used to get new wrestlers over for years. The only trouble with them, though, is that they are only going to be as successful as the wrestler already was (unless it was a Menace based video). There wasn't much of a way in-game to get a new wrestler with no popularity over with a video (or at least on his way to getting over).

Yeah it would have been better (for me) if instead of doing away with the chained storylines all together, maybe just make them less restrictive. Like the next step is a Verbal angle with these particular wrestlers and not have it be concerned with the roles. So it would act more as a template for those who like that.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to. After the semi-vacation (that wasn't really as restful as it's meant to be) of the year transition, it looks like things are going to start getting crazy again tomorrow. Family matters look like they will be eating a good bit of the afternoon and a lot of energy for the foreseeable future. I'll be lucky if I can do much of anything TEW related for a while. Let alone story modding for TEW10.</p>
