Co-Main Event

Welterweight Bout: Dan Hardy (25-11) vs. Mike Pierce (16-6)

Round 1

And here we go! Pierce sees a right body kick coming, grabs it, shoots in for a takedown, down goes Hardy! He pulls guard though. Securing an arm, Hardy then brings his legs up and tries to lock Pierce in a triangle choke. Pierce blocks the triangle attempt. Hardy attempts to lock on a triangle choke. Pierce doesn´t let Hardy get it. The time runs out on round one. An extremely close round, could have gone either way, but personally i´ll give it to Hardy 10-9.

Round 2

And here we go, round two! It sounded like his corner told Pierce to attempt to get Hardy to the floor in this round. Pierce steps back to avoid a barrage of big punches, having been off balance momentarily after a clever feint. Pierce covers up well to absorb a couple of big rights. From the pocket, Hardy connects on Pierce with a stiff jab. A left jab misses the mark and allows Hardy to counter with a nice left. Time expires and we come to the end of round two. Good effort there, that was a very exciting round to watch. More please! I have to give that round to Hardy, but only a 10-9.

Round 3

There´s the bell and round number three begins! A straight left fails to land and Hardy is able to fire back with a vicious leg kick. Pierce comes in, looking for a quick takedown. Pierce gets caught with a right hand though, and his wobbly legs can´t support him...down he goes! Hardy doesn´t have time to capitalise though, as Pierce recovers his wits quickly. Hardy hurdles over Pierce, looking to land a diving punch! Hardy hits it, but it was so wild that it didn´t connect fully and Pierce is able to survive and pull guard. Hardy gets pulled in tight, and takes a glancing blow from an elbow strike. Hardy gets pushed back thanks to a butterfly guard, and Pierce quickly scrambles. Pierce attempts to pass half guard and gain a better position. He passes to side control. Pierce attempts the mount. We reach the time limit and this fight is over. I´d say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Hardy.

The judges´scores are now being announced. All three judges have given 29-28.

Dan Hardy wins by unanimous decision!

Mendes saw the takedown coming, he tries to grab a guillotine. The takedown is too good, the attempted guillotine is lost. Koch gets a single leg takedown! Mendes pulls guard off it. Time expires and we come to the end of round one. An extremely close round, could have gone either way, but personally i´ll give it to Koch 10-9.

Round 2

Middleweight Bout: Rousimar Palhares (15-5) vs. Stanislav Nedkov (14-0-1 NC)

Round 1

And here we go! Palhares throws a couple of jabs, then chooses to shoot in on Nedkov. Nedkov attempts to avoid Palhares as he shoots in. Nedkov avoids the takedown attempt. Using good head movement, Palhares slips past a punch and hits a hard leg kick. Nedkov grabs Palhares and pulls him into a Muay Thai clinch. Palhares wrestles free of the Muay Thai clinch after blocking a knee strike. The time is up, and that´s the end of round one. That round goes to Palhares, 10-9 on my card.

Round 2

We are back underway! From what we could hear of his corner, it sounds like Palhares has been instructed to try and Nedkov to the floor in this round. Palhares uses head movement to make sure that a massive overhand right doesn´t find a home. Palhares chooses to shoot in on Nedkov. Nedkov stuffs the takedown, so Palhares has to settle for pushing him up against the cage. Whit the cage trapping Nedkov, Palhares looks to try and take him down. The takedown is completed, Nedkov is on his back and pulls guard. Nedkov grabs an arm and raises his legs, trying to lock Palhares into a triangle choke. Palhares counters the triangle attempt superbly by twisting out of it and gaining side control. Round two is brought to an end as time runs out. Incredibly close round, but Palhares came out just ahead on my score card.

Round 3

There´s the bell for the start of the round! Standing in the pocket, Palhares chooses to shoot in for a double leg on Nedkov. The takedown is completed, it was a single leg and Nedkov is left on his back pulling guard. In guard Palhares begins working to pass to side control. Palhares isn´t able to pass guard on this attempt. Nedkov tries to ensnare Palhares in a guillotine. Palhares pulls free before the guillotine can be applied. Time runs out and that´s the end of the fight. That round goes to Palhares, 10-9 on my card.

Mousasi knows that this is a golden opportunity, and quickly pounces on Nogueira, looking to finish him off by raining down punches! Mousasi can´t put Nogueira away, and gets sucked into half guard. We go past the halfway point of this round. Mousasi gets out of half guard and stands up, letting Nogueira stand too. Nogueira goes to the body and then to the head with a tidy combination to get Mousasi to cover up, then shoots in. Mousasi stuffs the takedown attempt and then pulls Nogueira into a clinch. Nogueira uses his wrestling to smother Mousasi and stop him from using any dirty boxing. Time expires and we come to the end of round one. That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Mousasi.

Round 2

And here we go, round two! Nogueira counters a tight combination by hitting a right handed bomb that knocks Mousasi clean out!

The winner, by Knock Out, is Antonio Rogerio 'Minotouro' Nogueira!

Co-Main Event

Heavyweight Bout: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (34-8-1-1 NC) vs. Gabriel Gonzaga (14-7)

Round 1

There´s the opening bell! Nogueira comes in, looking for a quick takedown. Gonzaga tries to time a counter right hand, but can´t get it. Nogueira drives forward, and despite the best efforts of Gonzaga to stay upright, the takedown is completed! Nogueira ends up holding a seated Gonzaga around the waist, pressing him up against the cage. With no progress being made, the referee separates the two fighters. Nogueira uses a smart combination to get Gonzaga to cover up, then shoots in looking for a takedown. Gonzaga attempts to avoid Nogueira as he shoots in. Nogueira doesn´t get the takedown, Gonzaga avoided it. Time expires and we come to the end of round one. Not a happened in that round and the fans are getting a bit restless as a result. There was very little to separate them in that round, but i´ll give that one 10-9 to Gonzaga.

Round 2

And here we go, round two! Nogueira throws a combination of rights and lefts, using them as cover so that he can shoot in. Gonzaga tries to strike first with a solid right hook, but isn´t quick enough. Gonzaga cannot stop the takedown, Nogueira drove in with too much pace and power. The takedown leaves Gonzaga seated with his back pressed against the cage. Nogueira tries to put Gonzaga into a guillotine choke. Gonzaga doesn´t allow the guillotine to be applied. Nogueira blocks an attempted sweep. Nogueira uses an elbow, but Gonzaga smothers it with ease. Nogueira blocks Gonzaga as he tries a sweep. With no progress being made, the referee separates them. Nogueira grabs Gonzaga and pulls him into a Muay Thai clinch. From the Muay Thai clinch, Gonzaga eats a big elbow. Round two is brought to an end as time runs out. I have to give that round to Nogueira, but only a 10-9.

Round 3

Round three begins! Moving in closes, Nogueira looks like he may want to wrestle Gonzaga. He pulls Gonzaga into a grapple. Nogueira, controlling the grapple with Gonzaga, tries to scoop him up for a slam. Nogueira has him! Slams him down! Gonzaga pulls guard. Gonzaga reaches up and tries to lock up an arm. A kimura attempt almost catches Nogueira, but Gonzaga eventually has to settle for using it to sweep to side control. We´ve now passed the halfway mark in this round. Gonzaga blocks an attempted sweep. Gonzaga attempts an armbar. An armbar is applied, Nogueira is trapped! No! Nogueira manages to get his arm free. Clearly the hold couldn´t have been as tight as it looked. Nogueira tries to ensnare an arm. Gonzaga defends it. The fight comes to an end as the time limit expires. That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Nogueira.

He come the official scores. The judges give 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27.

So the winner, by unanimous decision, is Antonio Rodrigo 'Minotauro' Nogueira!

Werdum tries to catch him by surprise with a takedown attempt, but it is blocked. Werdum uses head movement to avoid a combination of punches, then counters with a nice left. Slipping past a one-two combination, Werdum counters with a swift leg kick. Velasquez throws an excellent combination but Werdum covers up and takes them. Middleweight Bout: Vitor Belfort (22-11) vs. Hector Lombard (33-4-1-1 NC)

Round 1

We are underway! Belfort throws three punches in quick succession, but Lombard was out of range. Belfort ends up grabbing Lombard in a Muay Thai clinch. Lombard wrestles free of the Muay Thai clinch after blocking a knee strike. The time is up, and that´s the end of round one. There are some audible boos from the crowd, that wasn´t the most exciting round we´ve ever seen. There was very little to separate them in that round, but i´ll give that one 10-9 to Lombard.

Round 2

There´s the bell and round number two begins! Advancing, Lombard counters a right jab by using a clean jab. Lombard comes in, looking for a quick takedown. The takedown is successful, Belfort couldn´t quite stay on his feet. Lombard tries to lock Belfort in a choke. Belfort fights off the guillotine attempt. Belfort, trapped against the cage, pummels Lombard on the back with several small shots, although they´re more out of frustration than anything. The referee decides that there is a lack of progress being made and separates them. Round two ends as time expires. That was a yawner of a round, and I think both fighters are now a bit frustrated. I´d say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Lombard.

Round 3

There´s the bell and round number three begins! Standing in the pocket, Lombard chooses to shoot in for a double leg on Belfort. The takedown is successful, Belfort pulls guard. The fight comes to an end as the time limit expires. That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Lombard.

Round 1

And here we go! Evans chooses to shoot in on Shogun. Shogun sees the takedown coming and tries to move. Evans doesn´t get the takedown, Shogun avoided it. Standing in the pocket, Evans catches an attempted body kick and goes for the takedown, and gets it! Shogun pulls guard. Round 2

We are back underway! Shogun feints going high and then throws a barrage of big rights, with Evans only just able to evade them. A jab misses and Shogun counters with two big right hands! Backing off, Evans looks very wobbly, I think he may be hurt! Evams counters with a takedown, and Shogun is forced to pull guard. Shogun tries to ensnare an arm. In a moment of sublime skill, Evans not only defends the submission but uses it to get to side control. Shogun takes a crunching knee strikes to the ribs from under side control! Evans pounds away from the mount, and Shogun is in serious trouble! Evans fires away with big elbows, but Shogun covers up and doesn´t take any undue damage. Rashad Evans is breathing very hard. Evans counters an attempt by Shogun to him from mount by taking his back! Evans tries to lock Shogun in an armbar. Shogun pulls his arm free at the last second, and is able to secure side control over Evans. The time runs out on round two. I think Evans took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

Round 3

There´s the bell for the start of the round! With underhooks giving him solid control over Shogun, Evans looks for a takedown. Shogun cannot stop being lifted up and blasted with a Greco-Roman slam, he can only pull guard! In guard, Evans begins working to pass to side control. He passes the guard well, gaining side control. Evans tries to put Shogun into an Americana. Shogun blocks it. Mauricio Rua seems to be fighting against exhaustion. Evans unloads with big right hands from side control, and Shogun is struggling to cope! Evans gets the arm triangle fully applied! No! Shogun manages to break free. Clearly the hold couldn´t have beem as tight as it looked. The time runs out on round three. That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Evans

Round 4

We are back underway! Between rounds we could hear the corner of Shogun telling him to swing for the fences. Mauricio Rua looks totally gassed. Evans sees a chance for a takedown attempted, and Shogun, caught by surprise, has to pull guard. The gas tank looks empty on Rashad Evans. Evans passes to side control with ease. Evans pounds away with punches from the mount, hitting several big shots. The referee pulls Evans away, stopping the match! Most of the fans are booing loudly now, that really was a very premature stoppage and Shogun is quite rightly furious!

The winner, by TKO, is 'Sugar' Rashad Evans!

The rear naked choke is fully applied, Zhang has Ogle flattened out completely, there is no option but to tap out!

Tie Quan Zhang takes the victory by way of Submission!

Bantamweight Bout: Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Kyung Ho Kang

Yamamoto tries to step away from the takedown. Advancing, Yamamoto counters a left jab by using a hard kick across the side. Time expires and we come to the end of round one. That round goes to Yamamoto, 10-9 on my card.

Yamamoto uses some dirty boxing as he grapples with Kang. Norifumi Yamamoto is breathing very hard. Yamamoto is looking to muscle Kang back against the cage. Out of the blue, Kang finds a way to slap on a guillotine, and is able to take Yamamoto down with it! Yamamoto can´t escape the guillotine, it´s tight enough that he has to tap!

Somehow Akiyama got his arm free. That was increadibly close to a finish though. Kim tries to put Akiyama into an americana. Akiyama fights off the americana attempt. Time expires and we come to the end of round one. I have to give that round to Kim, but only a 10-9.
