For the 3rd time in their history, the Denver Nuggets have won the 1997 NBA Championship defeating the Orlando Magic in 7 games.

Reggie Miller was the Finals MVP.

Shaquille O'Neal (Hornets) won NBA MVP.

Ray Allen (Grizzles) won Rookie of the Year.

Eric Piatkowski (Pistons) won Most Improved Player.

Duane Schintzius (Nets) won Defensive Player of the Year.

While Boston had the worst record, the Pacers hold the best chance to win Suckin' for Duncan despite finishing in a tie with Charlotte for the 2nd best record in the NBA.

The Pacers did end up winning the #1 pick of the 1997 NBA Draft. Would the Pacers use the #1 pick on Tim Duncan despite being set at PF and C? Well, they received an intriguing offer the team with the #3 pick. That team? The San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs wanted Duncan and afraid the Warriors would take him at #2, they offered the #3 pick and to swap 1st round picks in the '98 Draft as they are expecting to have a worse record next season than the Pacers.

The Pacers took Duncan at #1, the Warriors took Chauncey Billups at #2, with the 3rd pick, the Spurs traded it to Indiana for the rights to Tim Duncan. With the 3rd pick, the Indiana Pacers selected Tracy McGrady.

Other selections:

4. Keith Van Horn (Bucks)

5. Antonio Daniels (Knicks)

6. Anthony Parker (76ers)

7. Ron Mercer (Raptors)

8. Anthony Johnson (Hawks)

9. Danny Fortson (Rockets)

10. Derek Anderson (Clippers)

11. Zydrunas Ilguaskas (Jazz)

12. Bobby Jackson (Mavs)

13. Tim Thomas (Heat)

14. Scot Pollard (Suns)

15. Tony Battie (Grizzlies)

16. Austin Croshere (Wizards)

17. Kelvin Cato (Lakers)

So the Celtics got ****ed out of getting Tim Duncan both in the game and IRL.

With the Warriors constantly losing over the past few seasons and with Michael Jordan getting up there in age, the Warriors are looking to rebuild and that means trading away their star guard. With the trade deadline near, they did just that.

The Warriors traded Michael Jordan and Derek Fisher to the Chicago Bulls for Shandon Anderson, Spud Webb, the Bulls 1998 1st round pick, and the 2000 1st round pick. The Bulls made this trade due to being right in the thick of a very close Central division and 6th overall in the Eastern conference where they are one game behind the 2-5 teams in the conference.

Well, the trade for MJ almost worked. The Bulls made it to the NBA Finals as the 5th seed, only to fall to the Portland Trailblazers in 5 games. It was Portland's first ever title. Gary Payton won Finals MVP.

Shaquille O'Neal (Hornets) won NBA MVP.

Tim Duncan (Spurs) won Rookie of the Year.

Shareef Abdur-Rhaim (Jazz) won Most Improved Player

Dikembe Mutombo (Blazers) won Defensive Player of the Year.

As somebody who tried something similar and got to about 1954 and then lost interest, I'm impressed.

To be fair, the reason I gave up was because in consecutive seasons, the teams caps were so jacked, Dolph Schayes and George Mikan went unsigned in free agency.

Did you see something like that happen as well?

Nope. Since I control all teams, I make sure all the top talent has homes.

The Houston Rockets came into the season with a big 3 of Sam Cassell, Kevin Garnett, and Kobe Bryant. They finished the 99-00 regular season tied for the best regular season record in NBA history tying with the 79-80 Cleveland Cavaliers with a 73-9 record. However, they fell short to win the team's first NBA title, partly due to not having Kevin Garnett in the playoffs due to injury, they fell to the Indiana Pacers in 6 games. Much like the Pacers last NBA Champions in 1995, Terrell Brandon was the NBA Finals MVP.

NBA MVP: Shaquille O'Neal (Hornets)

Defensive Player of the Year: Shaquille O'Neal (Hornets)

1999-2000 season was the last for a number of the best players to be in the NBA the last 20 seasons.

Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Terry Porter, Mike Gminski, and Dominique Wilkins all called it a career. All of them were inducted to the Hall of Fame, the most inducted in one year in NBA history.

Mike Gminski?

I had to look him up to see who he was...:D

Funny thing something like that happened to me with OOTP Baseball, I had Domingo Jean make into the Hall of Fame. I promptly stopped playing that save and started the game over again.

From undrafted IRL all the way to the top pick. Awesome. Always had a soft spot for Redd.

Dude was a beast of a defender in the game, I could see why he would make it in.

Just noticed, Mark Aguirre is still in the league during the 00-01 season at the ripe age of 41 and is in his 20 season. He's played longer than Karl Malone, John Stockton, Dominique Wilkins, etc. despite being a back of the bench type guy for a number of seasons now while the other guys mentioned were still playing at a decent level.

I had something like that happen to me as well. Only my league was filled with fictional players.

I had a PF named Dan White play until he was 44 and he played for twenty-two seasons. When he came into the league he was a star player and usually the focal point of his team, he then went to the Knicks in the tenth year of his career and became their backup C/PF he was there for a four years before he went to the Lakers where he became a starter once again. That only lasted one season, he then slowly went down the depth chart but he managed to stick around longer than anyone in his draft class and most of the players that came into the league a few years before or after him.

I started to refer to him as Satchel because much like Satchel Paige this dude did not know when to call it a career.
