Season Seven, Week Fourteen

Nagano, Japan

May 6, 2014

THE LEAGUE: SEASON SEVEN, WEEK FOURTEEN

BETA DIVISION: Judah Snow (3-8, OVR 312) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (4-7, OVR 318)

The opening strains of "God's Gonna Cut You Down" by The Gaslight Anthem hit the arena as a bright spotlight shines on the entrance way. A large figure steps through, completely ignoring the jeers from the fans as he stalks determinedly towards the ring. A lone fan tries to slap his shoulder, and he turns, snarling as the fan scurries away in fear of his life. The distraction aside, he makes his way to the ring and climbs inside, his eyes never leaving the middle of the ring.

Amelia Williams: Our opening contest is a Beta Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, weighing 288 pounds..."The Bastard" Judah Snow!

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to week fourteen of The League! We start tonight with a match that is must-win for both competitors.

Frankie Garnett: I don't know if I'd go that far, Bob. They're basically out of the playoffs anyway, so I'm not sold on the whole "must-win" thing.

Tori Montgomery: It's still mathematically possible, Frankie, and that's how we're determining it.

The driving metal of Slayer's "Raining Blood" hit the speakers as the luchador emerges from backstage. His mask is obscured by the smoke billowing around him, and it is a blood-red spotlight that follows him to the ring as he hops over the top rope and paces back and forth, waiting impatiently for the match to begin.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Tijuana, Mexico, weighing 142 pounds...he is El Demonio de Sangre!

Frankie Garnett: Tori, there's a difference between mathematically possible and being realistic, all right? There's a reason that "keep it real" is an expression after all!

Tori Montgomery: And sometimes reality takes a back-seat to the possibilities of "what if," Frankie. How about you enjoy the matches your way, I'll enjoy them mine, and we'll give the viewers both sides of the equation and let them figure out how they wanna see it?

Frankie Garnett: That involves too much work, it sounds like. Pass.

Bob Sinclair: I can tell it's going to be a long show already....

Frankie Garnett: Wait, what? That actually worked?

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by pinfall, at a time of eleven minutes and twenty-four seconds...Judah Snow!

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, you jump from the top rope onto someone's knees, and then try to kick out of a pin from a guy Snow's size. I bet you couldn't do any better.

Frankie Garnett: What is with people threatening violence upon me everywhere I go now? First King, now you...

Razor Sharp (4-7, OVR 316) vs. Sean Lyaskaris (8-3, OVR 336)

12 Stones' "Infected" hits to a cascade of jeers as the masked Canadian emerges from backstage, with his manager in tow. Both men seem determined to head to the ring, and not pay attention to the fans as of yet. Reaching the ring, the masked man leaps over the rope, seemingly ready to rumble.

Amelia Williams: This match is scheduled for one fall! Already in the ring, accompanied by Marc Pearson, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, weighing 220 pounds...Razor Sharp!

Bob Sinclair: Razor is another of those in the "must win" category. Another loss could break his season.

Frankie Garnett: Bob, let's face it. There are five or six people who are all but locked in. There are two who are eliminated. That leaves twelve people in must-win scenarios. Can we just assume that everyone is in that until further notice?

Tori Montgomery: Good grief, Frankie...

The anticipation builds as the opening to Dream Theater's "Pull Me Under" hits the arena speakers, causing a few of the lights at the entryway to flash alternately. As the opening builds to a crescendo, he finally makes an appearance, sneering a bit at the assembled audience as he begins his stride to the ring. Focusing his attention on the ring itself, he climbs up the steps and ducks between the ropes, shedding his entrance jacket as he stonily gazes toward the center of the ring.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Charlotte, North Carolina, by way of Osaka, Japan, weighing 230 pounds..."The Gaijin Crippler," Sean Lyaskaris!

Bob Sinclair: Sean comes in tonight as the Delta Division leader, leading Amelia Midnight by just a tie-breaker. He's one of those few who is all but assured a playoff berth, but you know he's looking to win the division first and foremost.

Tori Montgomery: Sean's not going to be happy with just a wild card berth when he knows he's got a good chance to take the division and get a better seed in the playoffs.

Frankie Garnett: Which is why you always bet on Sean. Always.

Frankie Garnett: Don't, Tori. Just don't.

The Phoenix (6-5, OVR 323) vs. Diamond (2-9, OVR 306)

"Don't Cha" hits the arena to a loud reaction as The League's first female member emerges from backstage. There is a confident smirk on her face as she talks trash with some of the louder fans before sprinting into the ring by diving under the bottom rope. As she stands, she proceeds to the corner nearest the announce table, hands thrown in the air as the soaks in the crowd reaction while her manager stands outside, also applauding her client.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond is wrestling strictly for pride here, as she cannot make the playoffs at this point.

Tori Montgomery: A disappointment, really. I had Diamond being a contender coming into the season, but that hasn't been the case.

Frankie Garnett: Plus the fact that she's retiring after this season...it hasn't been a good season for Diamond fans.

Within Temptation's "Stand My Ground" hits the arena speakers as the former League Champion emerges from the back, through a wall of flame pyro. His face gives no emotions away as he walks to the ring, stopping at the ring steps. A moment later, he slams both fists into the second-highest step before looking up the heavens with a cry of "For the Fallen" coming from his lips. With no further ado, he heads up the steps and steps between the ropes, ready to go to war once again. At ringside, Tori drops her headset to the table and walks towards his corner, her mental transition from color commentator to manager complete.

Amelia Williams: Her opponent, joined at ringside by Tori Montgomery, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds...this is The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: On the other hand, Phoenix finds himself in the thick of the Beta Division hunt, as a win here would give him the division lead via tie-breakers.

Frankie Garnett: If there was someone who needed to start choking, it's this guy. He doesn't deserve to make the playoffs while people like Scott Stevens are stuck trying to worm their way in!

Frankie Garnett: Oh, damn it all, not again!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond quickly taps out here, she knows she's not getting out of that hold when he has it locked in that deep. And that quickly, this one is over!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by submission, at a time of fifteen minutes and four seconds...The Phoenix!

Frankie Garnett: That was Diamond's match to win! What happened?

Bob Sinclair: She gave Phoenix one too many chances to come back, Frankie. You don't do that to someone who has done it all in The League.

Frankie Garnett: (mutters incoherently)

ALPHA DIVISION: Thor Hammerskald (4-7, OVR 316) vs. Scott Stevens (6-5, OVR 332)

Anthrax's "Blood" hits the speakers, to a decent ovation he emerges from backstage, looking every bit the part of a Viking warrior as he strides to the ring with a determined look on his face...and scattering some of the fans away from the entrance ramp as he turns to glare at them. Making sure the fans are sufficiently cowed, he climbs the steps and enters the ring, his eyes never leaving the middle of the ring as he takes off his entrance gear and holds aloft his title belt for all to see.

Amelia Williams: This Alpha Division contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds, he is the reigning and defending League Champion...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: If Thor wants any hope of defending his title in the playoffs, he needs to start winning and to do it now.

Frankie Garnett: I'm...not so sure Thor can do it tonight though.

Tori Montgomery: There's the favoritism we've come to expect from you!

The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" The crowd starts booing, but it’s not just a normal level of booing. It’s a booing of pure hatred. Chris Benoit level booing as an electric guitar wails throughout the PA system and the words of Dave Mustaine's voice echoes throughout the arena, "As I climb onto your back, I will promise not to sting. I will, tell you what you want to hear and not mean anything. Then I, treat you like a dog, as I shoot my venom in. You pretend you didn't know, that I am The Scorpion, whoa!" The jeering intensifies as the instrumental after the chorus hits the speakers, drawing out "The Venomous One" Scott Stevens and his sinister, yet beautiful wife, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens. They stand at the top of the ramp and kiss each other to the delight of the crowd. Walking down the aisle, Scott talks trash the entire way while raising a fist at a few of the more vocal bashers and Lisa flicks off the ignorant fans asking her to show her boobs. As they reach the ring, Lisa kisses her husband's cheek before he finally gets to the ring. Once in the ring he climbs the nearest turnbuckle and stares down at the crowd, an icy glare and the throat slash gesture his only actions as he drops to the mat while Lisa cheers him on.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, being accompanied by his wife, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens, he hails from Houston, Texas, weighing in at 256 pounds...He is "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Bob Sinclair: Stevens is in the thick of the wild card race, as he's already been eliminated from contention for the Alpha Division crown.

Tori Montgomery: Yeah, I don’t think the experts were counting on a newcomer running the table to this point.

Frankie Garnett: Including you?

Tori Montgomery: I had Thor, then Stevens, then Skye when I first saw the division set-ups. So yes, including me.

Bob Sinclair: He still has a chance, I think, but—

Bob Sinclair: But I never—

Frankie Garnett: DONE!

GAMMA DIVISION: Nuclear Templeton (7-4, OVR 324) vs. Alex Kapranos (5-6, OVR 323)

The opening guitar licks of Franz Ferdinand's "Your Diary" echo through the arena as the lights dim except for a gold spotlight on the entrance way. A few seconds pass before the lyrics hit, and a few seconds after that, two men emerge from the back. The one on the right seems to be giving last-minute instructions to his companion, and as the music intensifies, they reach the ring. The manager remains on the outside, shouting encouragement as his charge enters the ring, shaking himself loose and preparing for the bout ahead.

Amelia Williams: This contest is scheduled for one fall in the Gamma Division! Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by Aaron Aaronson, from Gloucestershire, England, weighing 202 pounds...Alex Kapranos!

Bob Sinclair: Kapranos is on the outside looking in as we started the show; a win here gives him just a bit of wiggle room to avoid going into desperation mode.

Frankie Garnett: I don't see it happening tonight. Just a hunch.

Tori Montgomery: He's pulled off some surprising wins this season, but he has his hands full tonight.

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage. As he reaches the bottom of the ramp, Nuclear raises his arms in the air, causing twin mushroom clouds to explode on the entrance stage before he slides into the ring, ready to go.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: Nuclear is running neck-and-neck with The Nebraskan Beast for the Gamma Division lead.

Tori Montgomery: While he cannot take the lead tonight, he can put pressure on The Beast to win next week to keep his lead, plus a win will give Nuclear some room in the wild card hunt.

Frankie Garnett: Which is why I said Kapranos has no chance tonight.

DELTA DIVISION: Sakura Toyota (4-7, OVR 317) vs. Amelia Midnight (8-3, OVR 337)

Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" hits to a decent ovation as the youngest competitor in the history of The League emerges, letting the music give her energy as she stares down the entrance ramp at the ring. Then, with a grin and a wink towards the camera, she sprints to the ring, leaping up to slide headfirst under the bottom rope. She uses her momentum to roll to her feet and head toward the turnbuckle, climbing onto the middle rope to garner more cheers before dropping back to the mat and preparing to face her opponent.

Amelia Williams: This is a Delta Division contest scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Tokyo, Japan, weighing 101 pounds...Sakura Toyota!

Frankie Garnett: Here's someone who, if she makes the playoffs, I will boycott in protest.

Tori Montgomery: You can't boycott your job, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: Says you.

Bob Sinclair: Actually, Frankie, we're non-union. So if you did, no pay and you could be fired.

Frankie Garnett: ...good point...

The opening chords of Evanescence's "Tourniquet" blare through the arena as the lights fall to darkness. Black lights highlight the entrance, and a lone figure can be seen emerging from backstage, the white lines on her outfit glowing a violet shade in the light. As the refrain of the song hits, she takes off in a sprint, leaping up to slide under the bottom rope. As she slows to a stop, she hops onto her feet and climbs the nearest turnbuckle, throwing a hand in the air as the lights revert to normal.

Amelia Williams: Her opponent, from Denver, Colorado, weighing 128 pounds...Amelia Midnight!

Bob Sinclair: With Sean losing earlier, the door is wide open for Midnight to leave Japan as the Delta Division leader.

Tori Montgomery: She has to beat out Sean record-wise to win the division, remember. Sean's beaten her twice this season.

Frankie Garnett: I think she'll have to settle for the wild card, Tori. She won't hold on to the lead for long.

Tori Montgomery: With three weeks to go, Midnight is clinging to the division lead by the barest of margins. Can she hold on and shock everyone?

Frankie Garnett: With Sean right behind her? I'm gonna say no to that, Tori.

GAMMA DIVISION: William King (4-7, OVR 317) vs. El Super Mantis (4-7, OVR 318)

GWAR's "Let Us Slay" is heard as the lights dim, and when the lyrics begin William King comes out in his black pleather ring gear and a hoodie. Stopping at the top of the entrance ramp, he holds aloft a USMNT scarf for a moment before beginning his walk to the ring. He takes his time and circles the ring before rolling in, standing on the second rope and unzipping his hoodie to reveal the tanktop underneath, slipping the jacket off and throwing it in the direction of Frankie Garnett before dropping into the ring, leaning against the corner.

Amelia Williams: This is a Gamma Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Arkham, Massachusetts, weighing 260 pounds...William King!

Bob Sinclair: This promises to be an interesting match, as these two, who are on good terms outside the ring, face off inside it.

Tori Montgomery: Just means someone's going to have to buy dinner when this is all said and done.

Frankie Garnett: Tori, men don't buy other men dinner. Alcohol on the other hand, well....

Queen's "Hammer to Fall" hits the speakers to a decent ovation as Britain's greatest (and admittedly, only) Luchadore emerges from the back, with his manager in tow. Adjusting his mask one last time, he nods to his manager and dashes towards the ring, slowing as he climbs the steps and somersaulting over the top rope. Landing on his feet, he gives a heartly "Ole!" (complete with heavy British accent) to the crowd, who still soak it up and cheer as his manager finally makes it to ringside.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied to the ring by Lee Brae, from Mexico City, Mexico by way of Bristol, England, weighing 242 pounds...El Super Mantis!

Bob Sinclair: The winner of this match will move to 5-7 and have at least a fighting chance at a wild card and a winning season.

Frankie Garnett: You really think eight wins is good enough for a wild card, Bob? Even if it was, I doubt either of these two could make it to eight.

Tori Montgomery: You say that out here when you know King can't kick you square in the mush, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: You keep thinking that.

Frankie Garnett: Wait. THAT was the Landon Donovan Kick?

Bob Sinclair: Yep.

Frankie Garnett: Okay, that settles it. If he tries to invite me in the ring, I'm not going. It almost looked like Mantis had his neck snapped; I want no part of that no matter how cheesy it looks when it misses!

Tori Montgomery: (sotto voce) Chicken.

ALPHA DIVISION: Celeste Skye (11-0, OVR 347) vs. Deathseed5 (7-4, OVR 326)

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, this is our main event of the evening, scheduled for one fall, and could determine the Alpha Division champion!

The sound of a lightning strike precedes the lights in the arena going out. Saliva's "King of My World" hits the speakers, prompting some of the lights to flash back on in the arena. A figure stands in the entrance way, facing away from the ring with a fist raised in the air, wearing a jacket that is flashing with lights built into it. Turning towards the ring, he immediately makes his way towards it, stopping every now and then to talk smack to those in the crowd he feels are beneath him. As he finally reaches the ring, he climbs one of the turnbuckles, flashing a straight-edge sign as he climbs down into the ring and sits against the turnbuckles, ready to save another opponent.

Amelia Williams: Introducing first, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, weighing 248 pounds...Deathseed5!

Bob Sinclair: As Deathseed himself pointed out, he was the first person to lose to Skye this season. And now he's the one that can stop Skye from clinching the division should he be victorious tonight.

Frankie Garnett: Should? I think he's got Celeste's number. Second time will be the charm, just watch!

Tori Montgomery: I certainly don't think so, Frankie.

The driving beat of Children of Bodom's "Warheart" precede our next competitor's entrance into the arena. She looks rather confident, as her uncle leans in to impart some words of wisdom. With a nod, she smiles and sprints towards the ring, leaping high enough to clear the bottom rope and tuck into a roll, popping to her feet to a decent ovation as she appeals to the fans, gold title belt in hand. At ringside, her uncle finally gets into position and watches from her corner, looking for as much exposure as he can in this instance.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied by Daichi Tsukuda, from Hollywood, California, weighing 132 pounds, she is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions and the current Alpha Division leader...Celeste Skye!

Bob Sinclair: A win, and she's in as the Alpha Division champion. She's already in as at least a wild card; this would give her at least a top three seed.

Frankie Garnett: Don’t you mean fout?

Tori Montgomery: No, three. The Beta Division leader is 7-5; there's no way they can best Celeste at this point.

Frankie Garnett: Pfft, details....

Frankie Garnett: Oh, son of a--!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by submission, at a time of seven minutes and forty-six seconds, and the Alpha Division champion...Celeste Skye!

<p>Week 14 Post-Match Interview</p><p> </p><p>

May 6, 2014</p><p> </p><p>

Nagano, Japan - Moments after Celeste Skye clinched the Alpha Division championship, she and her uncle, Daichi Tsukuda were interviewed by League reporter Sophia Russell as they were leaving the locker room.</p><p> </p><p>

Sophia Russell: Good evening you two. Celeste, congrats on tonight's win over Deathseed5 for the Alpha Division title. How important was it for you to come out and win the match the way that you did tonight?</p><p> </p><p>

Celeste Skye: Well, first off, I want to thank DS5 for the good match. He .... <em>before she could finish, Daichi grabs the mic</em></p><p> </p><p>

DT: Well, well Deathseed. I see that you have not learned your lesson. Your arrogance once again costed you against my niece. You should spend less time boasting and more time studying your opponent. Maybe then, you will have a better record than you have currently. <em>He gives the mic back to Celeste who sighed as she was given back the mic from her uncle</em></p><p> </p><p>

CS: As I was saying, he gave me a decent match, but I came out focused and ready to win. He was determined to beat me, but I was ready for his every move.</p><p> </p><p>

SR: With the win tonight, you've clinched the Alpha Division title with three matches to go. With a win next week against Scott Stevens, you will clinched the top overall seed in this year's playoffs. As we near the end of the season, are you just content with the division title or are you going to push for the undefeated regular season?</p><p> </p><p>

CS: Like I mentioned to you last week, finishing undefeated would be great. Right now, though, I just want to focus on one match at a time.</p><p> </p><p>

SR: Fair enough. As I mention earlier, you will be facing Scott Stevens in next week's main event. With Stevens currently holding onto the last wildcard slot, you can expect him to do whatever he can to ensure that he returns to the playoffs. Even though you faced him a couple of weeks ago in Fukuoka, what are your thoughts on the matchup? </p><p> </p><p>

CS: Even though I faced him a couple of weeks ago, I feel that he will come out and bring everything he has and I would expect nothing less. He is a veteran that knows what it takes to get into the playoffs and i expect him to do everything that he can to win next week.</p><p> </p><p>

After we arrive in Perth Thursday, we will spend most of our time in training and looking at all of Scott's matches. We are hopeful that we will find a strategy that will work and lead to a victory.</p><p> </p><p>

As she finishes, her family that have gathered backstage cheers her own in the background, chanting "Celeste, Celeste."</p><p> </p><p>

SR: With one more day here in your adopted hometown of Nagano, what are you and your family planning to do before your departure?</p><p> </p><p>

CS: Well, with the premiere of Justice debuting tomorrow, I will be at the official screening signing autographs and taking pictures. After that, my family is planning to have a party back at the mansion to celebrate my Alpha Division championship. Anyone from the League can come and hang out before the flight to Perth Thursday.</p><p> </p><p>

SR: Thank again Celeste for meeting me for this interview as well as the invite to your party tomorrow. Good luck in your match against Scott Stevens next week.</p><p> </p><p>

CS: Thanks.</p><p> </p><p>

Season Seven, Week Fifteen

Perth, Australia

May 13, 2014

THE LEAGUE: SEASON SEVEN, WEEK FIFTEEN

ALPHA DIVISION: Thor Hammerskald (4-8, OVR 318) vs. Eidenhoek (3-9, OVR 309)

Disturbed's "Indestructible" hits the arena as a pair of wildly different figures emerge from backstage. In front is a dwarf, dressed for combat in a wrestling singlet, and behind him is a giant of a man, seven-feet plus (and nearly as wide). The pair walk to the ring, and the smaller man climbs up the steps and enters the ring while the giant walks around the ring once, getting a view from all angles before settling in the corner of his charge.

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, our opening contest of the night is an Alpha Division bout scheduled for one fall! Already in the ring, being accompanied by Connor Reed, from Tanzania, weighing 102 pounds...Eidenhoek!

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome back to The League! The bye weeks are over; tonight all twenty members of The League are in action.

Tori Montgomery: Not to mention that some playoff spots can be locked up tonight; we could have a good picture of what to expect after our show concludes.

Frankie Garnett: All I know is this guy isn't going to make it, and so be it.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds, he is the reigning and defending League Champion...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: Thor needs three wins and some help to make the playoffs. A definite long shot coming in, for sure.

Frankie Garnett: It's his own fault, if we are to be honest. He got to pick his own division.

Tori Montgomery: And did you know coming in that Celeste Skye would be undefeated at this point? Cause I'm pretty sure he didn't know this either.

Frankie Garnett: ...point taken.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by pinfall, at a time of ten minutes and fifty-seven seconds...Thor Hammerskald!

Tori Montgomery: With that, Thor moves for the time being up a few spots League-wide, and sits at #14. That will likely go down as more matches are completed, but for the time being we can say he's still in the hunt!

Frankie Garnett: Oh, God, Tori, are you planning on doing this every match?

Tori Montgomery: That's the current goal, yes.

Frankie Garnett: Heaven help us all...

DELTA DIVISION: Diamond (2-10, OVR 306) vs. Connor Blackstone (6-6, OVR 327)

Amelia Williams: This Delta Division bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond comes in tonight dead last in The League, and can only serve as a spoiler over the next three weeks.

Tori Montgomery: A far cry from second place in Season Six, that's for certain.

Frankie Garnett: Thank you for that obvious comment, Tori.

Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing" hits the speakers barely a moment before our next competitor emerges from backstage. He makes no gestures to the fans, nor does he seem to showboat, as he stalks towards the ring and enters from the near side. Still ignoring the crowd, he removes his ring jacket and stands patiently in the corner, waiting for the bell to sound.

Amelia Williams: Her opponent, from San Jose, California, weighing 239 pounds..."All Business" Connor Blackstone!

Bob Sinclair: Overshadowed by performances from fellow rookies like Celeste Skye and Amelia Midnight, Connor's put together a respectable opening season so far and still has a shot at making the playoffs.

Tori Montgomery: Granted, he'll need a little help to make it but he's not out by any means.

Frankie Garnett: Even if he does make it, it's not like he's done anything overly impressive so far.

Bob Sinclair: Cover by Blackstone, hooking both legs—one...two...three! It's over!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by pinfall, at a time of nine minutes and forty-two seconds...Connor Blackstone!

Tori Montgomery: The win keeps Connor firmly within reach at #10, and he could be in the top eight by the end of the night. He's in prime position to make a run of it with just two matches left in his schedule!

Frankie Garnett: If he doesn't get overlooked again like, I don't know, everyone has done to him all season....

Judah Snow (4-8, OVR 318) vs. William King (5-7, OVR 321)

Amelia Williams: This match is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, weighing 288 pounds..."The Bastard" Judah Snow!

Bob Sinclair: Snow is all but eliminated from the playoffs, but he's still got a chance to make it if the cards fall his way.

Frankie Garnett: Which is a damn shame. I was hoping for more from this guy.

Tori Montgomery: You're not the only one, Frankie. A lot of experts wanted to see Snow go far this season.

He takes his time and circles the ring before rolling in, standing on the second rope and unzipping his hoodie to reveal the tanktop underneath, slipping the jacket off and throwing it at the announcers before dropping into the ring, leaning against the corner.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Arkham, Massachusetts, weighing 260 pounds...William King!

Bob Sinclair: King's got a slightly better chance than Snow at reaching the postseason, but he still needs three wins and a lot of outside help.

Frankie Garnett: So essentially, the loser is out of the playoffs, and the winner is hanging on by a thread, right?

Tori Montgomery: Pretty much.

Frankie Garnett: In that case, I should start looking for the scissors to cut that thread and kill off the hoping early. I don't see either one making the playoffs.

Bob Sinclair: Snow scrambles into a cover here...one...two...three! Snow got him!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by pinfall, at a time of nine minutes and nineteen seconds...Judah Snow!

Tori Montgomery: With that win, Snow now finds himself tied with Thor and King for the thirteenth position; it'll go to tie-breakers to determine who falls where in that logjam.

Bob Sinclair: That's if more people don't end up there before the night is over.

Tori Montgomery: True. But now it's looking harder for those at 5-8 to break free and make a playoff push.

Frankie Garnett: Yeah, not surprising in the least, Tori.

Deathseed5 (7-5, OVR 326) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (4-8, OVR 319)

Amelia Williams: This contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Tijuana, Mexico, weighing 142 pounds...he is El Demonio de Sangre!

Bob Sinclair: Demonio's main impact was his shock return in week one, taking the place of the injured Master Imoka, but he's struggled to build momentum since.

Tori Montgomery: Granted, he's equaled his career win total in League competition this season, but something tells me this was just a warm-up for him and that he expects to do better next season.

Frankie Garnett: If Imoka doesn't come back and murder this guy in his sleep that is.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, weighing 248 pounds...Deathseed5!

Bob Sinclair: Deathseed has drawn comparisons to Scott Stevens of seasons past, and comes in tonight in the wild card, and needing a win to really solidify his position.

Tori Montgomery: Expect that if he was drawing comparisons to Stevens, it'd be with a sub-par record, if we're speaking historically.

Frankie Garnett: Hey! That's not true!

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, Stevens has only made the playoffs once, and then it was a one-and-done appearance.

Frankie Garnett: Because of some shmuck with a pizza!

Bob Sinclair: Enough, you two, we have a match to call.

Tori Montgomery: At this moment, that moves Deathseed into the #7 position, and the third wild card spot. He could still be there by the end of this evening, but the rookie is making a push for it!

Frankie Garnett: At this rate, it's going to take a lot to knock him out of the playoffs.

DELTA DIVISION: Sakura Toyota (4-8, OVR 317) vs. Sean Lyaskaris (8-4, OVR 336)

Amelia Williams: This is a Delta Division match scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Tokyo, Japan, weighing 101 pounds...Sakura Toyota!

Bob Sinclair: With Deathseed's win just earlier, Toyota's chances for making the playoffs took a serious nosedive.

Frankie Garnett: And thank goodness! We don't need that invisible hand grenade crap in our playoffs!

Tori Montgomery: Frankie! Speak for yourself!

Frankie Garnett: What do you think I've been doing all season, Tori?!

Amelia Williams: Her opponent, from Charlotte, North Carolina, by way of Osaka, Japan, weighing 230 pounds..."The Gaijin Crippler," Sean Lyaskaris!

Bob Sinclair: Sean's return to The League has been a successful one, as he's currently in one of the wild card spots and is still in contention for the Delta Division lead.

Frankie Garnett: I expected nothing less from a former League Champion!

Tori Montgomery: Sean's looking to put the pressure on Midnight with a win here. I wouldn't put it past the man, either.

(13:06) Hello, hello...Sakura Toyota heads to a place called Vertigo!

Frankie Garnett: That's it; she's done.

Bob Sinclair: Sean rolls into a cover off that delayed brainbuster...one...two...three! And Sean takes the victory!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by pinfall, at a time of thirteen minutes and ten seconds...Sean Lyaskaris!

Tori Montgomery: The pressure is now on Amelia Midnight; she has to win to maintain her lead in the Delta Division!

Bob Sinclair: And we're about to see if she can handle it; her match is up next!

El Super Mantis (4-8, OVR 318) vs. Amelia Midnight (9-3, OVR 341)

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Lee Brae, from Mexico City, Mexico by way of Bristol, England, weighing 242 pounds...El Super Mantis!

Bob Sinclair: Mantis can play spoiler here, but not much more as his playoff chances dwindle quickly.

Frankie Garnett: I'm still trying to figure out how an English luchadore actually works, Bob.

Tori Montgomery: The same way Mexican ones do, Frankie. The mask transcends all.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Denver, Colorado, weighing 128 pounds...Amelia Midnight!

Bob Sinclair: Midnight has put in an impressive rookie performance so far, as she leads the Delta Division despite losing to Sean twice this season.

Tori Montgomery: If it wasn't for one Celeste Skye, Midnight and The Nebraskan Beast would be having the best rookie campaigns this season. As it stands, she needs a win to maintain the Delta Division lead here.

Frankie Garnett: She'll lose it by the season's end, Tori. After all, she has Sean chasing her. She'll cave under the pressure.

Frankie Garnett: That's one way to do it...

Bob Sinclair: The ref reluctantly slides in for the count here...one...two...three!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by pinfall, at a time of ten minutes and forty-five seconds...Amelia Midnight!

Tori Montgomery: Midnight remains in the Delta Division lead, with a chance to clinch the division next week if she wins and Sean loses!

Frankie Garnett: It's not going to be that easy, Tori!

BETA DIVISION: Wallbanger Jones (7-5, OVR 326) vs. Razor Sharp (5-7, OVR 320)

Amelia Williams: This is a Beta Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, accompanied by Marc Pearson, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, weighing 220 pounds...Razor Sharp!

Bob Sinclair: With a win here, and a Phoenix loss later—

Frankie Garnett: Which we all know is coming.

Bob Sinclair: --Razor would find himself right in the thick of the Beta Division hunt.

Tori Montgomery: He's just got a rather large obstacle to get past first...

Disturbed's "Warrior" begins to blare from the house speakers, heralding our next combatant the ring. Garbed in dark biker leathers with a black bandana and a pair of shades, his look clearly screams "I will break you if you so much as look at me funny." Thus, it's not surprising that most of the fans keep their hands to themselves and settle for anonymous taunts as he strolls to the ring and ducks between the ropes, gold title belt secured snugly around his waist.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the nearest road house, weighing 306 pounds, he is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions...Wallbanger Jones!

Tori Montgomery: Wallbanger needs to win and hope that Phoenix loses to keep his shot reasonably alive. He loses the tiebreaker to Phoenix via divisional record.

Frankie Garnett: So he's still got the edge then, got it.

Bob Sinclair: You do realize that Pheonix is leading the division, right?

Frankie Garnett: And you do realize that Phoenix is the King of Choke, right?

Tori Montgomery: ...

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by submission, at a time of twenty-two minutes and fourteen seconds...Razor Sharp!

Tori Montgomery: As of this moment, Wallbanger would be out of the playoffs after that loss, meaning that only one member of the Beta Division—their champion—would make the postseason!

Frankie Garnett: And now, more than ever, I want to curse Razor's name for messing things up and allowing the fat guy to lead the division!

Bob Sinclair: We'll see if Phoenix can capitalize on this turn of events; his match is next!

The Phoenix (7-5, OVR 327) vs. Nuclear Templeton (8-4, OVR 329)

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, joined at ringside by Tori Montgomery, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds...this is The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: With Wallbanger's loss just moments ago, Phoenix can put himself in a position to really shore up his lead if he wins tonight.

Frankie Garnett: And that's a very big "if," Bob. I don't see him pulling it off!

Bob Sinclair: This promises to be a good match, as these two men are former Tag Team Turmoil championship partners, and they also won the Tag Team Turmoil Tournament of Champions after Season Six.

Frankie Garnett: I'm waiting for an Armageddon Lariat hitting so hard it re-breaks Phoenix's neck and eliminates him for the season!

Bob Sinclair: Frankie!

Frankie Garnett: What? It's the truth...

Before the bell sounds, both men walk to the center of the ring. Some words are exchanged, but are undecipherable to the camera microphones. Eventually, both men take a step back and shake hands before retreating to their respective corners. Then, the bell sounds and the match begins in earnest!

Frankie Garnett: Are you kidding me?

Bob Sinclair: Phoenix quick to slide into a cover here...one...two...three!

Frankie Garnett: Oh, son of a [censored]!!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner by pinfall, at a time of ten minutes and thirty-three seconds...The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: Looking at Tori's notes here...apparently Phoenix can clinch his division next week with a win or if Banger loses.

Frankie Garnett: That's the last thing we need to have happen!

GAMMA DIVISION: The Nebraskan Beast (9-3, OVR 339) vs. Alex Kapranos (5-7, OVR 324)

Amelia Williams: This is a Gamma Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by Aaron Aaronson, from Gloucestershire, England, weighing 202 pounds...Alex Kapranos!

Bob Sinclair: Kapranos needs a win here if he wants to keep the playoff dream alive.

Tori Montgomery: Even if he loses, he needs help from Celeste Skye to defeat Scott Stevens in our main event of the evening.

Frankie Garnett: The way things have been going, I wonder...

"Animal I Have Become" by Three Days Grace blares through the arena as a red spotlight shines on the entrance way. A pair of figures emerge from the back, a smaller one walking backward in order to keep eye contact with his charge. The pair of men successfully navigate their way to the ring, and with a point and shout through his handheld megaphone, the smaller of the two urges the big man to enter the ring and tear his opponent apart. With a scream that sounds more like a primal roar, the big man slides into the ring, ready to fight.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, being accompanied to the ring by Jack Sandford, from deep in the mountains of Omaha, Nebraska, weighing 381 pounds...The Nebraskan Beast!

Tori Montgomery: Guys, I just did some calculating...if The Beast wins this match, he clinches the Gamma Division.

Frankie Garnett: What, already?

Tori Montgomery: Yeah. He'd have divisional record tie-breaker over Nuclear and essentially be two and a half up with two to go.

ALPHA DIVISION: Celeste Skye (12-0, OVR 350) vs. Scott Stevens (7-5, OVR 339)

Amelia Williams: This is our main event of the evening, an Alpha Division bout scheduled for one fall! Already in the ring, being accompanied by his wife, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens, he hails from Houston, Texas, weighing in at 256 pounds...He is "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Frankie Garnett: Look, Johnny, I don't care what you have to do. I want ten G's on Stevens...you have? Good, I'll make a special trip by on Friday to collect.

Tori Montgomery: Frankie! Are you gambling again?!

Frankie Garnett: They were giving Stevens 15-1 odds against Skye. I'm not about to not support a friend of mine!

Bob Sinclair: But did you have to do that on air like that?

Frankie Garnett: You wouldn't let me leave the desk, Bob.

Bob Sinclair: ....

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied by Daichi Tsukuda, from Hollywood, California, weighing 132 pounds, she is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions and this season's Alpha Division champion...Celeste Skye!

Bob Sinclair: Skye has been a buzzsaw this season. She already holds the record for longest undefeated streak to start a League season, and looks to make Stevens her thirteenth victim.

Tori Montgomery: Quite frankly, until someone proves they can beat her, Skye has to be the favorite to emerge as League Champion.

Frankie Garnett: And I think Skye's little party after the show last week may have made her too complacent. Get her, Scorp!

Frankie Garnett: Who cares? Scoprion's done it, he's felled the unfallen! Award that man the League Championship right now!

Week 15 Post-Interview

May 16, 2014

Adelaide, Australia - League Reporter Sophia Russell arrived at the hotel where the wrestlers are staying for their match next week in hopes of finding Celeste Skye and her uncle Daichi. As she was waiting for the two to show up, she saw several of the wrestlers leave and enter the hotel, but Celeste wasn't one of them.

As night falls, Sophia headed to the desk to ask if they have seen Celeste around.

Sophia Russell: Hi. I'm wondering if either of you have seen these two around here? She shows the two a picture of Celeste and Daichi.

Clerk 1: No, I haven't seen them around, but ask this guy. He then points to Yori, Daichi's son. He seems to know where they are.

SR: Thanks.

She moves toward Yori's directon

SR: Remember me, Yori?

YT: Of course, Ms. Russell. What can I help you with?

SR: Well, I normally do an interview with your cousin and father after every match, but I haven't been able to find them so far. Do you know where they went to?

Yori sighs as he ponders the question.

YT: My father is going to kill me if I tell you, but since you seem like a nice person and the one that always deals with my family, I'll tell you. They are somewhere around Alice Springs training.

SR: What? Why would they go there?

YT: You should ask him yourself. I'm heading out there in the morning. You can tag along if you want to.

SR: How are you getting there? You seriously not planning to drive there are you?

YT: Of course not, Ms. Russell. I've got a plane waiting at the airport to take us there.

SR: Ok, let's go.

Several hours later, after arriving at Alice Springs, Yori and Sophia arrive at a campsite near Ayers Rock. As the two approach the site, they see Celeste meditating while facing towards Ayers Rock. As Sophia nears Celeste, Daichi approaches.

May 17, 2014 near Ayers Rock

DT: How did you find us?

SR: Uh, your son told us where you were training and...

DT: I thought I told you not to let anyone know that we're out here.

YT: I thought you said that she was okay.

DT: Okay? His voice growing angrily as he yells to his son. A camera is the last thing that Celeste needs at this time.

YT: Dad, are your still angry about the party?

DT: You damn right I'm still mad. You should have never thrown that party. If it hadn't been for this party, Celeste would have ...

YT: Why do you blame me for this? If you have cared to look at her last few matches, you would have noticed that she was starting to feel the pressure of maintaining that record. Whether you like it or not, you pushed her into this and you should take the blame.

DT: How dare you insinuate that my methods are the reason for her losing last Tuesday.

As the two bicker back and forth, Celeste had enough of their constant argument.

Celeste: Will both of you just shut the hell up? I'm trying to concentrate.

As soon as she said that, the two stopped arguing. Noticing that Sophia arrived with Yori, Celeste goes to meet her. Sophia, ever calm, begins the interview.

SR: Good day, Sophia. I'm sorry about the loss that you suffered last Tuesday that ended your streak. Before I get into what happened during that match, I want to get your thoughts on the streak and how you're feeling after having it end.

CS: Well first off, I want to congratulate Scott Stevens on getting the win. He's proven that he is a winner and that you can't make the mistakes that I did during the match and expect to win. He gave it his all and for the first time this year, I tasted defeat.

As far as my streak goes, it was kinda nice to see it develop from a season-opening win against Deathseed, to victories over the current champion Thor and former champion Phoenix, and finding ways to win against Sakura, Judah, Razor, and Wallbanger. To break a League record of wins to start off a season, I think, was incredible and amazing at the same time.

That being said, I knew the streak had to end. Like all things, everything must come to an end. Just as Notre Dame football lost to Navy after 43 straight wins, as well as the SEC string of BCS victories ending this year, nothing lasts forever. Even though it has been a couple of days, the lost still stings.

SR: Do you think about what could have been had the streak remained intact?

CS: I think about it sometimes, but like my uncle said, "Don't dwell on the past. What happened last Tuesday can't be erased, but what happens this Tuesday has yet to be decided."

CS: Let's talk about the match last week. What did Stevens do that enabled him to do what no one could do and defeat you?

CS: I felt that Stevens learned a lot from our previous encounter on how to face me. He limited his mistakes which limited my opportunities to capitalize on his mistakes. Meanwhile, he managed to take advantage of most of my mistakes, leaving me on the defensive while allowing him to take over and wear me down.

SR: Near the end of the match, it appeared that you were on your way to ending the match. When Stevens countered Starstucked with a Boston Crab, then nailed you with the Toxic Sting, what was going through your mind?

CS: Like you said, I had just avoided a corner belly to back suplex and managed to take back the momentum. After delivering the blows to the back of his head, I thought that if I could get him into the Skye Lock, I felt that it would have been over. Instead, he managed to block any attempt to lock it in.

As he was getting up, I admit that I was too confident that he was ripe for the picking when I tried to hit him with Starstrucked. I failed to see that he was eying me the whole way, waiting for me to start my move before using his submission skills to kill my momentum. The next thing I knew, I was lying on my back and staring at the ceiling, thinking what just happened.

SR: One more question before we move on to your match with El Demonio de Sangre. Frankie Garnett before the start of your match felt that the party that your family threw for you following your win against Deathseed5 led to your defeat against Stevens. Do you think that the party was the reason that you lost?

CS: Scott Stevens was the reason I lost. He was the better competitor that night. The party had no bearing on what happened during the fight.

SR: Now moving off the subject, I found it odd that you and your uncle decided to avoid training in Adelaide like you normally would. Is there a reason that you decided to change it up?

As soon as Celeste began to speak, Daichi stepped in front of Celeste to answer the question.

DT: There is. I felt that after what happened, whether Celeste or my son would care to admit it, I believed that in order to regain her focus and drive, Celeste would have to avoid any distractions that Adelaide had to offer. I felt that in order to regain her edge, she had to get back to the basics. That's why for the last couple of days, we have been training in the Outback. I'm hoping that the time spent away from the city will help bring back the drive that got her to the top in the first place.

SR: Now moving onto your next fight with El Demonio de Sangre. What must you do to win the match against him?

CS: El Demonio de Sangre is the quickest opponent that I will face this season. His speed will make it hard to attack him. We have gone over his matches and will review the tapes once we get back to Adelaide on Monday. We are working on a strategy that we hope will lead us to victory.

SR: Thank again Celeste for meeting me for this interview and good luck next week.

CS: Thanks.

<p>...I'm not sure how I went all week without noticing this error. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/confused.png.d4a8e6b6eab0c67698b911fb041c0ed1.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

The European Rules match is supposed to be Mantis/Toyota, not Thor/Snow. </p><p> </p><p>

The Hardcore bout is supposed to be Skye/Demonio, not Kapranos/Blackstone.</p><p> </p><p>

So, erm...whoops. If anyone wants to change their picks because of this, now's the time. <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Edit: and we get our first Blood Stoppage of the season tonight, too. This is turning out to be an interesting show....</p>
