May Recap/ Extreme Rules Preview

CM Punk names new General Manager

For defeating Triple H at Wrestlemania Punk won control of RAW, he came out the first RAW to announce that he has no intentions of running the show himself but that he has found someone he trusts to take the responsibility and that man is William Regal.

WWE World Heavyweight Title: Daniel Bryan vs Brock Lesnar

The set up this match was very simple. Bryan promised the WWE Universe that he will be a fighting champion. Heyman came out to challenge Daniel on behalf of his client Brock Lesnar, stating that the winner of the Royal Rumble should get a 1 on 1 match with the champion and that Orton's inclusion in the match was the only reason Bryan won. Paul did have a point as Bryan never pinned Lesnar. Daniel accepted the challenge, and later on in the month a further stipulation was added, that the match would be thought under extreme rules.

Intercontinental Title: Big E Langston vs Mark Henry

After turning on his friend at Wrestlemania Mark continued to leave a trail of destruction on the way to the title. Big E has now defended the title against some big names but it was clear he understood how big of a challenge the World's Strongest Man would be.

Tag Team Titles: Wade Barrett and Sheamus vs Cody Rhodes and Goldust

After losing the tag titles the Rhodes Brothers were clearly devastated. Goldust persuaded his brother that the two should invoke their rematch clause to try and recapture the gold.

Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins

In a Wrestlemania rematch, Seth gets a chance to prove that he was not the weak link of The Shield by taking on his former tag partner. Both have expressed their sympathy for Dean Ambrose (who has not been seen since the Wyatt post match attack) but there was also the sense that neither regretted not helping him, believing that he got into trouble with the Wyatt's by himself.

Divas Title: Eva Marie vs Brie Bella

After Eva Marie won the divas title her position of Queen of the Total Divas was only consolidated further. Brie Bella took exception to this when Eva started ordering around Nikki. Brie has managed to earn a title shot but it is unsure whether Nikki is in her corner or Eva's. Meanwhile AJ announced on RAW that she will be taking some time off but warned The Total Divas that she is only leaving so that she can build an army of her own.

United States Title Tournament

It was announce that as Dean Ambrose suffered a head injury at Wrestlemania and will not be on RAW for some time his title has to be vacated. A tournament was ran throughout the month to crown a new champion with the final taking place at Extreme Rules. The two men to reach the finals were the same two men who were forced to disband after losing to Team Hogan at Wrestlemania; Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger.

Evolution

The two aren't referring to themselves as such, but Randy Orton and Batista joined forces with their first act together being a beat down of CM Punk for taking RAW control away from their old friend Triple H. The two claim to be the kings of WWE and truly believe that none of the up and coming stars could stand a chance in the times that they rose to prominence. One man who took exception to this was Dolph Ziggler who came to the help of Punk during a second beat down. Regal soon after made a tag match between the 4 for Extreme Rules.

Sister Abigail

Bray Wyatt alleged that Sister Abigail had fallen ill. He told the WWE Universe that their worshipping of false idols was the cause for this sickness and that Wrestlemania, which he calls nothing but the celebration of such worship had made the condition much worse. Bray is therefore on a mission to break the admiration that the fans hold for many superstars. Either through destroying the illusion that they are heroes or the superstars themselves. The first hero he has set his sights on is Kofi Kingston.

Pre Show

The Pre Show is offering a taste of what the WWE tag division has to offer in a triple threat tag match between Xavier Woods and R-Truth, Los Matadores and Rybaxel. With the winner gaining a title shot at the Tag Titles.

Results of the General Direction Poll 2

A total of 32 of you voted.

Kurt Angle appearing on RAW and on Wrestemania was reportedly part of a deal which allowed a dissatisfied WWE roster member to leave for TNA despite still having 2 years left on contract. Who is the individual?

Result: You guys voted for Zack Ryder to be this person. He received 14 votes which was quite a way ahead of everyone else. So Zack's off to the Impact Zone.

The following WWE roster members are all over 40. Which do you believe can and should still be wrestling by 2015?

Result: The Big Show, Tensai, The Great Khali, R-Truth, Kane, RVD ,Christian and Mark Henry were the choices. I'm not going to reveal all the answers here in case it acts as a spoiler. All I will say is that anyone who received over 50% of the votes will still be there when the diary starts in 2015 and depending on time decline once I start the game might carry on for a couple more years. The others will start to be fazed out over the next year. Only spoiler I will reveal is to apologise to the singular person who voted for The Great Khali.

Which combination of titles would you like to see in the WWE?

Results: Just going to copy and paste these ones for ease...

WWE World Heavyweight Title 62.50%

Intercontinental Title 93.75%

United States Title 59.38%

Tag Team Titles 87.50%

Divas Title 46.88%

Hardcore Title 25%

Cruiserweight Title 40.63%

Women's Title 37.50%

European Title 9.38%

WWE Title 37.50%

World Heavyweight Title 34.38%

Total Respondents: 32

I have left out the NXT choices from here because I believe it wasn't clear whether I meant those titles should appear on WWE as in (RAW, Smackdown etc) or stay in WWE as in (RAW, Smackdown and NXT). So for now I'm just going to leave the NXT titles as they are.

So first thing I am going to take from this is that more people want 1 world title than 2.

Next it is pretty obvious that people want the IC and Tag Titles to remain. Then out of all the others single male titles the U.S polled highest but the Cruiserweight wasn't far behind. In fact I believe more people voted for CW OR HC than voted for US. Because the polls haven't revealed a clear winner I've included a simple CW vs US title poll in the 3rd general direction poll which can be found below.

Also pretty much all of you wanted A female title but it was pretty split in terms of whether this should be the divas or womens title. I'll keep that in mind when writing the next few months.

Comments

Some interesting comments/ideas pertaining to the belts. Million Dollar Championship was brought up, as was the TV Title. Also a dancing title and a midget title... whilst I'm sure you'd love to see Horswoggle and El Torito square off every RAW you all sadly voted for Hornswoggle to be fired...

Thanks again for all the responses, I think I'm going to link a post to the front page that keeps track of all the decisions that you've voted on. That way over time we will be able to see all the changes you've brought in.

Extreme Rules

Pre Show

Woods and Truth vs Los Matadores vs Rybaxel

In an entertainng if not spectacular opening match the team of Woods and Truth got the win when the rookie Xavier hit Lost in the Woods on Curtis Axel.

Main Show

Batista and Orton vs CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler

The main show kicked off with a bang when four of the biggest superstars in WWE squared off in tag action. The match was closely fought and contained some great moments such as Ortons DDT ro Ziggler from the apron onto the outside or Batista catching Punk mid air to hit a spinebuster. Ziggler almost got the win when he hit the Lionsault on Orton but Batista managed to break up the pin. Punk came into the help and took out Batista but when Ziggler stalked Orton as he got to his feet to hit the Zig Zag, Orton was one step ahead and hit the RKO for the win.

Winners: Randy Orton and Batista

Divas Championship: Eva Marie vs Brie Bella

In a short match Brie managed to carry Eva to a passable but very average match. Eva still seems lost in the ring but manages to garner impressive reactions from the crowd. Nikki's presence at ringside was always going to an important matter. When The Funkadactlys came down to support Eva, Brie expected Nikki to have her back. In reality is what the opposite that was the case as Nikki purposely cost Brie the match by yanking her legs whilst Naomi distracted the referee. Eva got the win with what seems to be her new finisher a reverse DDT.

Winner: Eva Marie

Tag Team Titles: Wade Barrett and Sheamus vs Cody Rhodes and Goldust

In this Wrestlemania rematch both teams clashed over the tag titles in a rough and brutal battle. Sheamus and Wade were beginning to work well together whereas at first they relied on their own abilities. It was perhaps a sign of the downfall of the Rhodes Brothers that Wade and Sheamus could be said to be more on the same page than their challengers. It was this fact that got the champions the win, when Cody whipped Sheamus against the ropes Wade tagged himself in. Sheamus then ducked under Cody and Brogue Kicked Goldust off the apron. Cody turned around to be met with a Bull Hammer Elbow that got the pin.

Winners: Wade Barrett and Sheamus

Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins

In the second Wrestlemania rematch of the night the two former Shield members put on an entertaining match. Both members are becoming increasingly comfortable in their roles. Reigns is portrayed as the intimidating barbaric powerhouse whereas Seth is the more likeable underdog who throws his whole body into every match. Unlike in their Wrestlemania match the plucky underdog managed to dictate the tempo and keep Reigns moving. So although Reigns always looked like a threat, he couldn’t keep up with some of the impressive high octane moments which ended with Seth hitting the Blackout after jumping from the top rope. After the match Seth waited for Roman to get up, the two former tag champions looked at each other before Seth put his hand out for Roman. He seemed to genuinely consider it at first but then spat in Rollins' face before leaving the ring.

Winner: Seth Rollins

United States Title: Antonio Cesaro vs Jack Swagger

Similar to the last match, two former tag partners squared off, this time for the United States Title that had been vacated after Bray Wyatt's viscous post match attack on Dean Ambrose. Zeb was at ringside although he seemed pained to watch his two clients fight. Some highlights included a 60 second Cesaro Swing and an impressive German suplex by Swagger but when Cesaro was beginning to gain momentum Zeb jumped up onto the apron to distract him Jack was able to pull him down into an Ankle Lock. Cesaro struggled but ultimately had to tap out.

Winner: Jack Swagger

Intercontinental Title: Big E Langston vs Mark Henry

As expected the following match contained less top rope manoeuvres and was fought with a slower pace. This didn’t stop the match from being entertaining however as some huge power moves were brought out. Henry looked particularly aggressive as if wanting to teach a lesson to the champion over ten years his junior. Big E managed to surprise Henry on multiple occasions both with his speed and his willingness to get up after a harsh beating, the belt obviously meant a lot to Langston who has defended the title against such names as Alberto Del Rio and Batista. When Henry slammed the champion into the steel post however there was a real sense that we might finally see a new champion. Langston fought back into the match but when he tried to hoist him up for the Big Ending, Henry was able to slip away and instead hit the World’s Strongest Slam for the win.

Winner: Mark Henry

Bray Wyatt vs Kofi Kingston

In a relatively short match Bray silenced any doubt that his crusade against the heroes of WWE is a serious threat to many individuals. Kofi managed to evade Wyatt’s grasps for as long as possible but there was a sense of inevitability that Sister Abigail would eventually put Kingston down. Wyatt appears to be slowly improving in the ring but it is his natural magnetism that make his matches must see.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

WWE World Heavyweight Title: Daniel Bryan vs Brock Lesnar

The main event for the night had been hyped up throughout as a blockbuster match between two dangerous superstars. After coming out on top of not just the elimination chamber but the main event of wrestlemania as the champion the idea of Bryan being the underdog is slowly being stripped away to reveal a dangerous wrestler. Despite this when any man goes up against Brock Lesnar it is fair to call them the underdog. The match itself was kept at a fast paced with favoured Bryan but on numerous occasions Lesnar really took the wind of Daniel, once with a big backbreaker and another with a simple but efficient knee to the midsection. The match truly got going after Bryan hit a big dropkick from the apron to the outside which sent Lesnar crashing into the steel steps. However Bryan failed to capitalise on this as when after dragging Lesnar back in he missed with a diving headbutt. From there Lesnar started to dominate but when he when for the F5 Bryan managed to reverse it into a Yes Lock. Heyman began trying to distract the referee so Bryan sprung up and hit Heyman off the apron with a clothesline, he turned round to be met with a charging Lesnar but Daniel slipped underneath ran the ropes and hit the Running Knee for the win.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

For the third successive PPV Daniel Bryan ended the night on top with the whole crowd engulfed in a YES chant. Brock went to tend on Heyman but was pushed away with Paul seemingly shouting ‘I’m done’ to his client.

So congratulations to RKOwnage. I’m leaving the General Direction Poll open for another day or so and that has the MitB options in. So once that’s done I’ll reveal the results and then you can PM me who you want to win.

The next four PPV’s will make up a new prediction contest. I’m not yet certain what the prize will be but it will hopefully be as important as the MitB winner.

Thoughts on Extreme Rules

Quite a few low prediction scores so I thought I’d explain a few choices I made. I think the one which tripped people up the most was Mark Henry beating Big E Langston. I fully understand the view that Henry should be putting over Big E here, I imagine that will happen but I just don’t think this is yet the time. A main reason I had him drop the belt is that as I’ve said I want the IC title to be like the final stepping stone to the main event, so anyone who has a good run with the belt, upon losing it will usually go into the main event and put simply I’m just not ready to put Big E in there. I do plan on him eventually getting big, probably, but I don’t think he’s above people like Ziggler right now.

I think the only other one that might surprise is Seth over Roman. I agree that definitely at any point in the immediate future in real life this would be a stretch. Again like the Big E vs Henry match this doesn’t really mean I place Seth above Roman or Henry above Big E but just that for the storyline this makes more sense as I’m not yet ready for Roman to outgrow The Shield.

Interesting to hear what you thought about those and other matches, feel free to just tell me you disagree if you think I’m doing stuff wrong as well. If I can’t come up with a good response then obviously it’s something wrong that I should fix.

The General Direction Poll 3 is still open here.

June Recap/ Payback Preview

The WWE World Heavyweight Title Picture

William Regal announced that a beat the clock challenge would determine the next challenger for Daniel's title. In the first week of the month The Big Show held the top spot. Next week Cody stepped up to the challenge and beat Big Show's score. Goldust was dissapointed that Cody would not challenge Wade and Sheamus for another title shot but gave Cody his blessing to go on for the World Title. The next week Batista would challenge to beat Cody's score and whilst he did manage to beat Sin Cara the masked man put up a good enough fight to prevent Batista from taking the top spot. The final week of the month saw Brodus Clay go up against a surprise entrant; Goldust. Goldust almost managed to beat Cody's score but was a few seconds too late. There is some obvious tension between the brothers now but Rhodes is riding plenty of momentum into the title match.

Batista and Orton

Batista and Orton have continued their attempts to hold down the younger talent and this reached boiling point when Sin Cara got in the way of Batista's title shot. The two beatdown on Sin Cara but Rey Mysterio ran down for the save. The two old friends, Batista and Rey have a match at Payback to settle their rivalry.

Punk's frustrations

Punk asked Regal for a shot at Bryan but the general manager replied that because he lost in his tag match at Extreme Rules he needs to climb the ladder first. The next week Punk cut a promo complaining that even though Ziggler was the man pinned he is getting punished for it. Dolph replied that he was only in the match because he had his back against Orton and Batista and from their a rivalry heated up. Regal made a match between the two in order to give both a chance to prove they deserve a title shot.

The Undertaker

The Deadman surprised everyone by turning up to RAW with an announcement. He recalled his match with Cena, where for one moment. when John had the steel chair, he believed his was finally about to beaten. The Undertaker said that he actually felt a sense of relieve and has realised that he is ready to rest in peace. Therefore The Undertaker is on the search for someone who he believed could beat him. Roman Reigns then made his way down to the ring and squared off with Undertaker but the two were interrupted when Seth came down to claim that because he has just beaten Reigns, he should get the shot. The Undertaker responded by saying that he has indeed been impressed with the impact The Shield made therefore he will give the chance to one of the three former members, whoever impressive him the most over the year. Seth and Roman both protested that Dean doesn't deserve to be in the running but before they got an answer the lights went off. When they came back on The Undertaker was gone. This news only intensified the rivalry between Seth and Roman who are set to have their third match at Payback.

Tag Team Titles

In the first week of the month both Wade and Sheamus were in singles matches but both lost. The two men were given a title shot off Regal however unfortunately for them the two don't exactly see eye to eye at the moment. Henry and Langston still don't get a long, and Big E is looking forward to his IC title rematch but the two will have to get a long if they want to claim the gold.

The US Title

Zeb Coulter was cutting a promo celebrating that finally the US title is in the hands of a true American. Woods and R-Truth both interrupted the promo with R-Truth rapping that Swagger needs to be put in his place and that Xavier is the man to do it.

Bray Wyatt

After defeating Kofi Kingston Bray set his sights on The Big Show. Bray stated that for years the WWE Universe has celebrated The Big Show and it's about time that they realised that even Giants will be toppled on his save Sister Abigail. The 7ft giant proved that he would be no push over when he knocked out both Harper and Rowan.

Divas Division

Eva Marie continued her reign as Divas Champion by defeating Natayla on RAW but again with the help of outside interference. Once again it was Nikki Bella who interfered, Brie Bella tried to talk to her sister backstage about how she was acting but when Nikki replied with a slap Brie requested a match against her twin at Payback.

Pre Show

A pre show battle royale has been made with the prize of a spot in the Money in the Bank match next month on the line.
