Money in the Bank

Pre Show: Tag Team Titles: Wade Barrett and Sheamus vs The Usos

In a strong opener both Wade and Sheamus continued to stamp their dominance on the tag division. With many stiff punches and strong power moves The Usos were facing an upwards battle from the get go but the Samoan twins seemed ready to take the belts. With a double cross body taking down both champions it looked like they were getting close but a Brogue Kick out of the blue took out Jimmy Uso.

Winners: Wade Barrett and Sheamus

Main Show: United States Title: Jack Swagger vs The Miz

Jack's second title defence came at the expense of The Miz this month. The match itself was rather entertaining but the crowd didn't seem to have much too much interest. The ending came when The Miz locked in the figure four but Jack managed to reverse it into the Patriot Lock.

Winner: Jack Swagger

Tag Team Money in the Bank: Fandango and Breeze vs Rybaxel vs Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara

In the first ever match fought for a Tag Team Title briefcase all six competitors went full out to get the win. Breeze performed well in his debut and took out Rey with The Beauty Shot (Spinning Wheel Kick) which knocked Rey off a ladder. Ryback and Axel almost claimed the belts are one point, with both climbing up to get it. But Together Rey and Sin Cara dropkicked the ladder to send both men crashing down. Breeze knocked Sin Cara out of the ring with a big clothesline but Rey was behind him ready to trip Tyler up into the 619 position. Rey hit the move and pulled himself up the ladder. Fandango however leaped from the top rope onto the ladder. The two traded blows at the top of the ladder. Fandango held on to the ladder whilst managing to kick Rey in the head sending him down to the matt leaving Fandango free to get the briefcase.

Winners: Fandango and Breeze

Intercontinental Title Match: Mark Henry vs Tensai

Through Big E Langston's reign the IC title was often seen as a stepping stone for young talent to reach the main event. At the moment however Mark Henry is one big gatekeeper who provides a real challenge to any members of the roster wishing to take the title. Tensai is far from a young rookie trying to make it big, but time is running out for big man to finally reach that upper echelon of sports entertainers and this might be one of his last chances. The match itself wasn't pretty, nobody expected it to be but the two powerful men put on an entertaining match none the less. Tensai almost hit his big splash but Henry managed to roll out of the way. Tensai pulled himself to his feet to be met with a big right hand and a World's Strongest Slam.

Winner: Mark Henry

Harper and Rowan vs Truth and Woods

Bray sat and stared at the two competitors the whole match. Ready to pounce once his men had done their job. Woods and Truth however perhaps provided more of a fight than anyone would have expected, Woods in particular impressed and managed to hit the Honour Roll on Rowan but he was met with a huge lariat which put the rookie away. As soon as the bell rang Bray slithered into the ring, Truth charged but was met with a big boot from Harper before he even got to Wyatt. Truth then met Sister Abigail and went crashing head first into the matt.

Winners: Harper and Rowan

Divas Title: Eva Marie vs Brie Bella (Jerry Lawler as special guest referee)

With many divas at ringside it was obvious why Jerry was needed. On numerous occasions he had to prevent outside interference. Meanwhile Brie was taking the fight to Eva when she hit an X-Factor Eva appeared down and out. Brie went for the pin but Jerry stopped the count after just two claiming that Eva's leg was on the ropes. Brie protested and was clearly right but Eva took the chance to pull Brie into a roll up, Jerry fast counted Brie to help Eva retain the belt. After the match Eva shocked the crowd by kissing Jerry. The two walked off together with the belt, which even seemed to surprise Eva's total divas subordinates.

Winner: Eva Marie

WWE World Heavyweight Title Money in the Bank: Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns vs Antonio Cesaro vs CM Punk vs Dolph Ziggler vs Big E Langston

The crowd seemed fully aware of the importance of this match and were vocal throughout. The six men didn't let them down as well as the match featured a lot of exciting moments. Punk hit a diving elbow on Rollins off a ladder and Cesaro wowed the crowed by Big Swinging Big E and throwing him crashing through a ladder that had been propped up against the turnbuckle. Dolph was the first to be close to grabbing the briefcase but The Show-Off was stopped when Cesaro managed to pick up the ladder whilst Ziggler was still on it. Punk was next to almost grab the prize but Reigns managed to hit a big superman punch to knock him straight off. Reigns got no closer however as Seth was quick to dropkick Roman off. Seth was alone in the ring with the ladder and slowly climbed up but Ziggler was able to pull Seth off. Ziggler climbed to the top but was stopped by Punk. Ziggler was able to get both hands on the title but Big E ran into the ladder sending it, along with Punk, to the ground. Dolph however was able to keep hold of the briefcase and unscrewed it in mid air. Ziggler managed to keep hold of the title as he fell to the ground, winning the Money in the Bank for the second time in his career.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Cody Rhodes vs Goldust

The relationship between these two brothers had truly soured over the past month or two. Goldust was unable to face the fact that Cody was moving on up to challenge for the world title, something that Goldust was never able to capture. The match itself was brutal, after a big whip into the steel post Cody received a cut below his eye. He managed to fight on and soon replied with a big standing moonsault. Cody tried to follow this up with a Disaster Kick but Goldust caught his brother and reversed it into a powerbomb which almost got the win. The two slowly got to their feet, trading blows as they used each other as leverage to get to their feet. Goldust went for one big throat thrust but Cody ducked underneath it and hit the Cross Rhodes. Cody celebrated the win but was pulled back by Goldust. He stared at his brother unsure of what to expect but The Bizarre one offered a handshake to Cody as a sign of respect. Instead of taking the hand Cody hugged his brother and held his arm up. Goldust thanked his brother and left the ring to leave him to celebrate, saying goodbye to the fans as he left.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

WWE World Heavyweight Title: Daniel Bryan vs Batista

In the main event Bryan received a great reaction for the crowd who were clearly against the idea of Batista winning the belt. With Orton in his corner there was a real sense that tonight might be the night that Bryan drops the belt. Randy is still apparently injured but could still be a threat to Daniel. Batista slowly weakened Bryan, hitting three consecutive spinebusters. When these didn't put Bryan away Batista signalled the Batista Bomb. He managed to hoist Daniel up but was reversed into a DDT. The two continued to clash but when Orton tried to get involved Daniel took him out with a suicide dive. The referee then made Orton leave but as Daniel turned round he was met with a spear. After kicking out Batista once more went for the powerbomb but it was reversed again, this time into a No Lock. Batista struggled but ultimately had to give in to the hold.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

After the match Dolph appeared on the ramp but he wasn't coming to cash in, the warning was still apparent. Bryan will now have to be constantly aware that Ziggler could cash in at any time.

Thoughts on Money in the Bank

Quite a mixture of results in the prediction contest, I suppose that is to be expected with events like MitB. I quite liked this card, plenty of big matches, would of ideally preferred a bigger main event, I don't think there was much doubt that Bryan was going to win and I doubt the match itself would be spectacular. Doubt there were too many big suprises. Perhaps the tag title match would be the biggest one, I actually like Fandango, especially with Breeze and with Tyler being young they have potential to be a big tag team for me.

Results of the general direction poll 4 will be up soon. Obviously you know that Swagger won the vote. It was comfortable but not a landslide. It's going to be interesting to see how long you will keep him as the champion. I expected him to beat Woods and Miz but next months challenger might beat him in the votes, it depends whether people think they are too big for the title or not.

General Direction Poll 4 Results

These were pretty straight forward questions so not much explanation is needed.

You voted for Wade Barrett and Sheamus to be named The Empire

You voted for R-Truth and Xavier Woods to be named Truth and Consequences

Neither won by far, but both pretty much just edged it near the end.

Then you voted for Jack Swagger to defeat The Miz, wouldn't call it a squash but it was fairly comfortably.

Then finally you voted for Ryback to be the heel in his upcoming feud with Goldberg. That was quite a landslide.

Comments

To the person who asked where Ambrose is- he has been out since Wrestlemania, the original plan was actually for him to come back around Payback but it got pushed back a little bit. He's currently in the running to take on The Undertaker as he wants one of The Shield to face him so he will have to get back soon if he wants to impress Undertaker.

Someone asked for a poll to do with who should be pushed. I think I am getting the odd thing similar to that in them (MitB, US title etc) but I'll try do to some more like that. I can understand it them being the most interesting ones but it's hard to do them too often, at the end of the day not everyone can be pushed.

Plenty of you mentioned people you want bringing in. I'm very reluctant to bring in too many people who aren't very young just because there are a lot of people in NXT I'm excited to use and don't want them being pushed down, I'm sure there are one or two that could fit in however so I'll give that some thought for the next few months.

I agree with the person who would like to see Vince come back, I always like it when Vince is there. Not too sure how much I should be using him, both because of his age and because I need to be pushing Triple H as basically the next Mr McMahon.

A few other interesting ones which I won't mention too much either because they contain something I might do or that I just don't know what to say to it (take the example of Swagger and Cesaro becoming boyfriends), but what can I say, that's the third request for someone to be gay so maybe it's time to do it.

United States Title Poll

So below is the next United States Title poll which is actually for Swagger vs Cesaro. I think this is an interesting one because whilst I imagine Cesaro will have more supporters here, some might think the US title is (or at least should be) below Antonio.

One thing I would add is that whilst I personally really like Cesaro and believe he could be a great main eventer. I'm still not personally certain what to do with him (hence this poll) because I like having people similar to Cesaro in the midcards. Someone who I like, someone who can always perform etc. So perhaps even though I like him, Cesaro will always be a utility player.

That said, if you disagree with that and all decide that he is too big for the title then I'm happy to push him higher although it will be at the expense of someone else.

August Recap/ Summerslam Preview

Best in the World

After defeating Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Batista they're are many who claim Daniel Bryan is the best wrestler in the WWE. On RAW when Regal suggested this to be case, CM Punk claimed that it can't be true whilst he is here. Punk demanded a shot to prove this but Regal turned down Punk due to his loss in Money in the Bank. Punk continued to come out each week and demanded a shot but Regal was having none of it. It wasn't until Punk interfered in a Bryan match that Daniel himself asked Regal to make the match. The general manager still didn't want to give in to Punk but the two finally got their way and will face off in the main event of Summerslam. The rivalry has centered around their contrasting past year which has seen Bryan rise up whilst Punk has arguably simply tread water.

Goldberg

It seemed like a bad year was getting even worse for Ryback, his demands to face Goldberg were consistently met with silence. He finally got his response one RAW but perhaps 'The Big Guy' should be careful what he wishes for his response was a huge spear and a simple 'Summerslam' reply from the returning Goldberg. The next week on RAW it became apparent that the spear hadn't hurt Ryback's confidence, Goldberg might be a mighty tall order but it's clear Ryback thinks he's in a different league to the former superstar.

Ambrose's Return

Reigns continued to cut promo's on Ambrose throughout the month but it wasn't until Reigns offered Dean a match at Summerslam that he appeared high in the stands. Dean told Roman that the two can finally clash and see who the better man is. On the final week of RAW a video package played that showed Ambrose in what he called his home, although it looked more like an abandoned shack, the former United States Champion warned his former Shield member that the man he will meet at Summerslam isn't the same that fought aside him for so long.

Love is in the air

Jerry Lawler and Eva Marie got engaged on the first RAW of the month and by the week after the two were married. As they kissed at the wedding a returning AJ came to spoil the party. She came down the ramp but a wall of bridesmaids (Total Divas) blocked her path. AJ, to the surprise of the Divas, simply grinned and pointed back to the ring where a pale skinned, dark haired woman stood behind Eva. JBL explained how the woman is Paige, the first NXT Women's champion. Paige grabbed Eva from behind and threw her over the ropes. AJ slid in and a war broke out between the two and the Total Divas all whilst Jerry carried Eva up the ramp to escape. The next few weeks saw Jerry cut promos on AJ and Paige which mostly centred around AJ being jealous of Eva. When Lawler kissed Eva and stated that he's rather pass a kidney stone than kiss AJ and this brought the former champion out who had a simple challenge. A match at Summerslam. Jerry stated that AJ hadn't earnt a title shot but AJ surprised the two by replying it isn't a match with Eva she wants, she wants Jerry.

A new evolution

After losing to Bryan, Batista and Orton came to the conclusion that rather than trying to take out the younger stars, they should build their own. The two were on a search for a protegee, and finished their search when they saw Curtis Axel defeat Kofi Kingston. Axel was happy to accept and together the trio have been running rampant on RAW. Cody Rhodes took exception to this and tried to persuade Curtis that Randy and Batista weren't the right people to have as mentors. This has lead to a match between the two at Summerslam.

Tag Team Titles

Rey and Sin Cara weren't feeling down after their loss at Money in the Bank for long when on RAW they won a tournament to face the champions at Summerslam by defeating Truth and Consequences in a great match up. Since then however the threats have come from all angles with Wade and Sheamus ready for the fight but also Fandango and Breeze breathing down their necks with the MitB briefcases.

IC Title

After coming up short at Money in the Bank, Big E Langston had a lot to prove. When he came out to express his disappointment that Punk was handed the shot at Bryan, Henry came down to remind Langston that he isn't getting to the world title until he's taken the IC belt off him. Big E seemed more than happy to accept Mark's challenge and is on the hunt to claim his old belt back.

US Title

When Antonio Cesaro won a number one contendership match for the United States title, Jack and Zeb weren't happy to have to deal with the man from their past. Zeb cut promos all month preaching the injustice of a European challenging for the belt but no matter how much protesting the two do, Antonio is ready for their match at Summerslam. Vote on the winner here

Sister Abigail

Bray came out and told the world that Abigail was showing some signs of improvement, Bray took this as a message that his mission to destroy all heroes was working. He therefore set an open challenge to anyone who wants to try make themselves a hero which was answered by Seth Rollins. It was only once he accepted that the terms became clear, a handicap match against both Rowan and Harper. Rollins has done well throughout the month in preparation but Bray has always been waiting, a fact that has resulted in two Sister Abigails so far.

This is the toughest card thus far, easily, and it looks pretty cool! I like the Ambrose/Reigns thing and Axel being the protege of Orton and Batista.

United States Title: Jack Swagger vs Antonio Cesaro

I voted for Swagger... But I think most people will have voted for Cesaro

I agree with RKOwnage... TOUGH card!! But, also a very, very GOOD card
