Your first game?

Recommended Posts

What do you plan on doing for your first game? Obviously there's going to be some trial and error; I know I personally probably won't settle in on a long game for a 2-3 tries and I try to investigate some of the new features.

For me, personally, my first solo game is going to be GAMMA (assuming it's the big company in USA, still) and just trying to get as many weight classes going as possible. I'd like to really experiment with the reality show feature as well, which I think only works for larger companies.

I'm also looking forward to trying out the multiplayer function, which I've already got a certain women's rendering expert (read: Blackman) on board to test that feature out with me. Hopefully I can be WEFF :X.

How user friendly can the multiplayer be? The way it reads is that you have to manually send around a save file through email? That just seems too awkward and cumbersome to be useful.

Can we just do hotseat games? I could see my GF and I taking turns on one PC.

I'm sure you could hot seat games. You can use also use MP to play multiple companies at once in single player if you wanted to. On the note of sending the file and back and forth, my experience with doing it with TEW has always been positive. Multiplayer isn't really a mode you can just play for hours on end - it's more of marathon, with you and your friend(s) taking turns. It's definitely more of a side-project thing, then your main source of entertainment.

I'm going to convert my mod to WMMA4 once I finish adding in my female flyweights. I then use the new fighter generator to add in my female atomweights, strawweights, and lightweights. I'll use the multiplayer feature to manually book my feeder org's fights so that my prospects can be properly developed.

but will probably put a bit of time into the default database to get used to all the changes first.

I think that's a wise decision, as especially the AI-related stats might need some getting used to before we're able to use them to their full extent.

Maybe the South-East Asian company won't be an automatic loss this time.

The only thing you needed to prevent that loss was just not use Sukarno and you were fine (unless he had obligatory fights, in which case you were doomed as he cost as much as your entire budget, especially if he won). It was essentially programmed to go out of business, so I'd be surprised if it was still active in the database (supposing it actually advances this time).

I'm probably heading down the path of WEFF first, as apparently Rebby already locked it in for our MP session and it's just an easy org to start with. But before that happens, I'll need to finish my custom multiplayer-themed mod.

Nah I tried that you could only last until his contract expired, once his contract expires you have to pay him for all his guaranteed fights which is millions.

It might not be literally impossible but it's damn near close.

I might try it one time. See if I can run enough shows to make enough money to be able to pay his wages.

My current Database puts Sukarno in ALPHA-1 for that reason.

If I recall it well one performance from Sukarno already puts you in red. You'd have to find some cheap superdude to beat him up. Having him square off with Ho is actually cheaper than feeding him someone from his current weight class (I think).

But seriously: if you want to play as KDM-FC, just take 5 seconds to edit his contract to one level below his current contract type and you'll be fine (well...not really, but it might actually be possible to survive).

Or if you want to make it more fair, edit Sukarno so he's in A-1 rather than earning less than his pop warrants in KDMFC.

Personally I will probably start with the most interesting regional promotion in the database. If all companies are the same, then it'll probably be XCC again. Or SIGMA if I feel like juggling a craptonne of divisions.

Yeah, I wasn't really moaning. I usually just edit Sukarno's contraft before starting the game. It am curious as to whether or not KDM will be more competent in this incarnation. The mass fighter creator thingie will help flesh out the region a bit.

I was going to approach this similar to you as well. I don't want to start a new long game without knowing how all the new features work. maybe run a huge quick match tourney?

im very intrigued by the MP aspect. ideally playing with 2 or 3 other people running different types of orgs seems like it could be really fun if everyone was on a schedule to make it run smoothly. The odds of it happening are very slim I feel like but this has so much potential. I imagine 2 people running two big orgs competing for the best talent (gamma vs alpha) another guy running a smaller high level regional show with a focus on becoming that 3rd big org like sigma. finally have a 4th guy start a new promotion a very low level regional org who won't be competing against the other 3 in anyway just trying to stay afloat and develop fighters basically to be picked up by other bigger promotions. This seems like it would be really fun to me and even have some kind of rotating system so everyone takes a turn running each org if that's possible?

It really depends on whether or not the database has been advanced in the timeline for me. If it has just been expanded, i'll probably do my usual tinkering for a week or so, then start working on a mod i've been writing, while probably playing a small run as FLB. On the other hand, if the database reflects a new era, i'm probably going to start a new campaign asap, as the largest company (probably GAMMA), and probably not see sunlight until around march.

I'm definitely going to dive into a mulitplayer game first. It was in my opinion the only thing missing to make WMMA3 a 10/10. Will take GAMMA so I can have some freedom to test many things out and a smaller company, so to get a good feel of the changes. I'm counting down the days. Christmas is coming early this year!

I'll probably play with the database quite a bit before I actually start a game. I'd like to merge the default database with the Modern Warriors mod and that will take some time to tweak and balance. I'm also thinking of adding some characters just for fun. Chong Li, Tong Po, and Ivan Drago come to mind. Once that is all done and it feels right, I'll most likely create a new company and start from the bottom and work my way up.

<p>Difficult question, haven't totally locked anything in yet but most likely I will go with something like Cage Warriors in the UK in real life. I've fallen in love with how they do their stuff in the recent years and I'll probably try to emulate them somewhat. A smaller European company with a strong European identity / vibe going is what I'm thinking. </p><p> </p><p>

I'm not getting money from them, but I think you should check Cage Warriors out if you haven't. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I could be wrong on this, but I don't think there's any built in way in this game for a user to play more than one company in a game?

Yea, exactly. You just do a multiplayer game, but you control all of the players in the game so you can effectively control multiple companies at once if you wanted to. I could definitely see myself possibly controlling two companies (like GAMMA and ALPHA-1) at some point, just for fun. I dunno if I'd ever have the patience for an eight company game.
