WWF RAW IS WAR, Monday Week 1, May 2001

NY Madison Square Garden (Tri State)

Attendance: 20,000 (sell-out)

Announcers: Jim Ross, Paul Heyman, Michael Cole

Raw is War kicks off with a video replaying the shocking final scenes of WCW Monday Nitro, where Shane McMahon buys WCW right out from under the nose of Vince.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Vince.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpg

"SHANE McMAHON HAS BOUGHT WCW, AND MR McMAHON IS IN ABSOLUTE SHOCK!"

(76)

OOC: Please refer to the video embedded in the first post of this thread for this introduction.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/HHH.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Vince.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Austin.jpg

Vince, flanked by his two “stooges”, Triple H and Steve Austin (complete with all the gold: Austin holds the WWF Championship belt, Triple H has the Intercontinental Title, and they both hold WWF Tag Team Title belts), comes down to the ring and states that even though Shane has indeed bought WCW, the TV Show Monday Nitro is still cancelled which means WCW doesn’t have any way of broadcasting their programme. So Shane very well does own the rights to WCW and all of its untalented, over the hill hacks, but with no place to showcase their talent, or lack thereof, it has effectively been the worst investment in the history of sports entertainment. The three of them all enjoy a good laugh at the expense of Shane and WCW.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Undertaker.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Kane.jpg

Vince and his boys are interrupted by The Undertaker and Kane, who come to the top of the entrance ramp and inform Triple H and Austin that they shouldn’t be so worried about WCW, in fact they have a Tag Team Title match tonight with the Brothers of Destruction that should be commanding all of their attention. And they're going to need all the help they can get. Triple H and Austin exchange nervous, worried looks.

We cut to the announce desk where the announcers are discussing tonight’s matches, as well as what we’ve just witnessed in the ring. JR apologises that Jerry “The King” Lawler is off sick tonight, but wishes him a speedy recovery for next week. Heyman quips that King is probably off with a pregnancy scare. Michael Cole says nothing, thankfully. Some big matches are in store for tonight, culminating with a WWF Tag Team Title match between Triple H & Austin and The Undertaker & Kane. There will also be a 4-way elimination tag number one contender’s match between the Hardy Boyz, the A.P.A, the Dudley Boyz and Edge & Christian, with winners facing the WWF Tag Champions next week on Raw. Finally, there will be an Intercontinental Number 1 contender’s match between Eddie Guerrero and Raven, with the winner taking on the champion at Judgment Day in just over two weeks. But first up, we have some tag team action between four of the WWF’s hottest young superstars...

In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit defeated Kurt Angle and William Regal in 11:54 when Chris Benoit defeated William Regal by pinfall with a Dragon Suplex.

Winner by pinfall: Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Rock.jpg

We cut to The Rock, who says he couldn’t care less if Shane McMahon has bought WCW, Vince has bought McDonalds, or Triple H has bought Walmart, all he cares about is the WWF Championship. And when Austin has done mucking around with the WWF Tag Team Titles, he wants to face him at Judgment Day for the only gold in the industry today worth cracking a sweat over. And on that stage he will once again prove that he is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment today, "If you SMELLLLLLLL..."

SLAM!!

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/BigShow.jpg

The Big Show comes out of nowhere and lays the Rock out with a massive punch. He then kicks him a few times, and wanders off screen.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Rhyno.jpg

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WWFHardcore.jpg

With the WWF Hardcore Title in his possession, Rhyno knows that he is the most hunted man in the WWF, seeing as he might have to defend the title at any place at any time. So instead of hiding he comes and stands in the middle of the ring. From there he fights off wave after wave of attackers, eliminating (in this order)...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Crash.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/KKwik.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Sexay.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Credible.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Hardcore.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Blackman.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Test.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/BillyGunn.jpg

He takes out Crash Holly, K-Kwik, Grandmaster Sexay, Justin Credible, Hardcore Holly, Steve Blackman, Test and finally Billy Gunn. After fifteen minutes of solid hardcore action, an exhausted Rhyno goes to leave the ring when all of a sudden...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Kanyon.jpg

WCW’s Chris Kanyon emerges from the crowd, hits Rhyno with the Kanyon Cutter, gets the quick pinfall, and wins the WWF Hardcore Championship!!

Winner by pinfall and new WWF Hardcore Champion: Kanyon

(49)

In a mad rage, Rhyno chases Kanyon up the ramp, but Kanyon escapes from Rhyno’s clutches with the WWF Hardcore Title safely in his grasp as the commentators question what exactly we’ve seen here tonight.

WWF Tag Team Championship Number 1 Contender Match

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, The Hardy Boyz defeated the Dudley Boyz, Edge & Christian and The A.P.A. in 10:07; the order of elimination was Dudley Boyz first, then The A.P.A., and finally Edge & Christian.

The Hardy Boyz will face the winners of tonight's WWF Tag Team Championship matchup between The Undertaker & Kane and Triple H & Austin next week on War is Raw!

Winner by pinfall: The Hardy Boyz

(79)

The Hardy Boyz celebrate in the ring as the other tag teams look on in disappointment. The commentators discuss how next week's match on Raw could shape up to be the biggest one of the Hardy Boyz' career.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Raven.jpg VS http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Eddie.jpg

WWF Intercontinental Championship Number 1 Contender Match

This match featured plenty of great action and back and forth between the two competitors, but just as Raven gained the upper hand over Eddie with a DDT...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Malenko.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Saturn.jpg

Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn hit the ring and attack Raven, causing the referee to call for the bell and giving Raven the win by disqualification.

Winner by DQ: Raven

(72)

The Radicalz are not done, however, as Eddie, Malenko and Saturn beat down Raven viciously and leave him laying in the ring. They leave with self-satisfied smirks on their faces.

WWF Tag Team Championship Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WWFTag.jpg

As can be expected from the top four guys in the business today, this match had excellent in-ring action and great heat from the audience. Most of the match saw the Brothers of Destruction beating down on Triple H and Steve Austin fairly heavily until, as expected...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Vince.jpg

None other than the chairman of the WWF himself, Vince McMahon came down to ringside, which threw the Undertaker and Kane completely off their game. All four competitors (and Vince) ended up brawling outside the ring, forcing referee Earl Hebner to eventually call for a double count-out, thus ending in an official draw.

Match is drawn as the result of a double count-out

(76)

The action continued outside the ring, as The Undertaker and Austin went toe to toe on one side and Kane and Triple H battled it out on the other, when all of a sudden, up on the Titantron...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Booker.jpg

A very cocky looking Shane McMahon and Booker T appear, Booker T with both the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and United States Championship belts draped over his shoulders. Shane confirms that even though Monday Nitro has in fact been cancelled, Vince is forgetting one very important thing. When Vince started up the TV Show Smackdown!, for legal reasons he put the show in the name of one Shane McMahon. This effectively means that Shane owns all of the rights to Smackdown! So seeing as Smackdown! is HIS show, and HIS property, he will be repackaging it as WCW Thursday Thunder, starting from this Thursday! So he advises everybody to tune in LIVE on Thursday night to see the top WCW superstars doing what they do best.

"Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, all workers currently contracted to WWF will be BANNED from the arena! Have a great night, Vince."

We cut back to the ring, where Vince is standing with his head in his hands and a look of utter disbelief. Even the four superstars have ceased their fighting and are all standing there in complete shock as we go off the air with Jim Ross carrying like only he does best.

"IT SEEMS SHANE HAS ONE-UPPED HIS FATHER ONCE AGAIN!! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE WWF?? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ALL OF US?!?"

Final Show Rating: 84

From the desk of Vince McMahon: So, after all these years and so much money and talent seemingly flushed away, I've finally done it. I've finally gone and bought WCW. But what does that mean from here? What does that mean for the future of the WWF, WCW and the very industry itself?

It seems the direction I take this acquisition will have significant impacts on the future of professional wrestling for years to come. I originally thought of incorporating the WCW roster into WWF and running a whole "invasion" angle across Raw and Smackdown!, but that seemed like a nothing idea that would eventually peter out, and would effectively bury the majority of the WCW superstars in the process. Many of these guys have given their lives to the industry and there are still many WCW loyal fans out there that would love to see their company continue in some shape or form.

So what better way to continue to sell the rivalry than by two separate companies battling it out on a weekly basis?? Of course, I couldn't continue with Raw and Nitro going head to head on Monday nights, that's just bad for business. And frankly, filling up both Raw and Smackdown! every week with WWF storylines and WWF superstars was beginning to get a bit tedious and was starting to tire the top guys out. So, enter my son Shane with his rival "takeover" of WCW, rebranding of Smackdown! into WCW Thunder and they now have their very own programme with which to "take it" to the WWF. I'm anticipating we can do many great things in the war that just weren't possible when there was just so much serious animosity between the two companies.

On a final note, with the requirement of having to book two companies, two sets of TV shows, each with own set of superstars and rivalries, I will need help with my creative direction at times. To this end, I have stumbled upon a group of hardcore "wrestling heads" on the Greydog Software Forums who have creativity and ideas rivaling that of the great Vince Russo himself. What I plan to be doing is running prediction contests for every PPV event that we broadcast, with the winner of each contest getting a say in helping me with creative control for one of the companies, storylines, stables or superstars. Of course, each PPV can only have one winner, so in the event of a draw I'll have to give it to the person who got their post in first, as there seems no other fair way to do it.

Anyway, overall I'm hoping this should be a very fun and rewarding concept that will continue to take our industry forward in leaps and bounds.

OOC: At this point in time I have to give a huge shout-out to Genadi for his 2001 May Mod. Without his brilliant work none of this could ever happen, and one of my favourite all-time Mods to play is his 1997 Montreal Aftermath Mod. So thanks a lot to Genadi, and in fact all of the Mod makers out there who enable us to make our dreams a reality.

I hope you all enjoy this dynasty as much as I will writing it.

WCW THUNDER, Thursday Week 1, May 2001

AR Bud Walton Arena (Mid South)

Attendance: 16,712

Announcers: Scott Hudson, Tony Schiavone

WCW Thunder starts with a recap video from Monday night showing Shane McMahon shockingly announcing his takeover of Smackdown! and the rebranding of it to WCW Thunder.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Vince.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpg

"IT SEEMS SHANE HAS ONE-UPPED HIS FATHER ONCE AGAIN!! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE WWF?? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ALL OF US?!?"

(74)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpg

To a massive roar from the WCW faithful, the new owner Shane McMahon comes to the ring and welcomes everyone to the inaugural WCW Thursday Thunder. He says that even though this is still WCW, and will still contain many of the household names that made WCW great, there are some things that will be different. None of the backstage politics that brought WCW to its knees will be present on his watch, in his WCW. This brings another huge cheer from the crowd. With that out of the way, Shane says that WCW will still be on PPV, and in fact, Slamboree will be held this very Sunday night!! He apologises for the late notice, but promises that it will still be a very action-packed card, and one worth tuning in to for all wrestling fans. He also announces that due to the confusion of the late scheduling change regarding Smackdown!/Thunder, he has given WCW superstars Ric Flair and Scott Steiner the night off, but promises they will be competing at Slamboree.

(66)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Booker.jpg

The current dual WCW World Heavyweight and United States champion Booker T joins Shane in the ring, to another huge round of applause from the WCW fans. First of all he states how good it is to be back in a WCW ring, something he thought he would never do again just last week, and says that he's ready to fight, for these fans, each and every night. He then tells Shane that he hopes he sticks to his word regarding things being different around here, as he and many of the other WCW superstars are tired of the same old bullsh*t from the same old a**holes.

Finally, Booker says that while it was an honour to have unified both the WCW World Heavyweight and United States titles on the very last episode of Nitro, he is hereby vacating the United States Championship, instead choosing to focus his attention on purely defending his World Heavyweight title. Shane says that's a very fair thing to do, and he says that his defence will start tonight, when he faces Goldberg for the World Heavyweight Championship, in this very ring. The crowd goes nuts at this announcement.

(75)

When the crowd settles down, Shane reiterates that this is a new era in WCW, one that will focus on talent, youth and excitement, and not old and overpaid hacks, such as...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/nWo.jpg

The nWo music hits, to another massive, albeit mixed, reaction from the fans. Shane and Booker brace themselves in the ring, but nothing happens. When the music finally stops, Shane says that Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are NOT contracted to WCW, and he has absolutely no interest in signing any of them. In fact, Vince can sign them all up, so Nash and Hall can run out the rest of their miserable, back-stabbing careers with their buddies Triple H and Shawn Michaels over at WWF, for all he cares.

(89)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Hudson.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Schiavone.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpg

Shane joins Schiavone and Hudson at the Announce table and informs them he'll be there for the night to "scout out the talent" as he doesn't really know many of them that well. He first up apologises that Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes have also been given the night off, like Flair and Steiner, also due to the uncertainty surrounding Thunder, but they are both expected to be present at Slamboree in just three nights time. He also announces that at Slamboree there will be a tournament to crown the recently vacated United States Championship. They discuss tonight's card, which contains no less than three WCW title matches, including the massive main event between Booker T and Goldberg for the World Heavyweight Championship. Shane says he also expects to hear from Kanyon tonight, who "stole" the WWF Hardcore title "right out from under Vince's nose" on Monday night. Hudson and Schiavone ask Shane point-blank about the nWo music that came on just before, but Shane reiterates that none of those three guys is employed by WCW or will EVER be employed by WCW, so he has no idea what it was all about.

(50)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Chavo.jpg VS http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Kidman.jpg VS http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Helms.jpg

WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWCruiser.jpg

In an extremely short match, Shane Helms defeated Billy Kidman and Chavo Guerrero Jr. in 5:24 when Shane Helms defeated Billy Kidman by pinfall after using a foreign object.

Winner by pinfall: Shane Helms. Helms makes defence number 1 of his WCW Cruiserweight title.

(44)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Buff.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpg

Buff Bagwell comes down to the ring and welcomes Shane to WCW, saying he is really, really looking forward to the "new direction" that Shane will be taking the company in. Shane thanks Buff but says he has no time for suck-ups and his butt is for "sitting on, not kissing". At this point in time, the camera pans up to Sting sitting in the rafters watching intently, to a massive pop from the audience.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Sting.jpg

(61)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Kanyon.jpg

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WWFHardcore.jpg

Kanyon comes down to the ring proudly showing off his new WWF Hardcore Title. He says he realises that holding this title means he probably has the biggest target in wrestling today painted on his back, but he also says to "bring it on!!"

(63)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Morrus.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Awesome.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Rhyno.jpg

As is the usual story when the Hardcore Title is involved, Kanyon has to repel wave after wave of attackers as Hugh Morrus, Mike Awesome and finally the ex-champion Rhyno each take turns attacking Kanyon, and each take turns feeling his wrath.

Kanyon walks from the ring a little battered and bruised, but still the WWF Hardcore Champion, much to Shane McMahon's obvious delight.

(55)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Stacy.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Torrie.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpg

Torrie Wilson and Stacy Kiebler are the next WCW superstars to come to the ring and congratulate Shane McMahon on his new position. They even go as far as telling Shane that if there's "anything" they can do to help him, than to let them know. Shane says thanks, but no thanks, and asks them to refer to Buff Bagwell "re butt-kissing". The girls leave looking reasonably miffed, while Scott Hudson and Tony Schiavone just gape at Shane like he is a deadset madman.

(69)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Goldberg.jpg

We suddenly cut to the parking lot, where Goldberg is found face-down, with the nWo letters spraypainted across his back. As paramedics arrive and begin to give him medical attention, we cut back to Shane McMahon who states again firmly that "There's no way these guys are working for WCW, or will EVER work for us." He can't help but look extremely worried by this latest development, however.

WCW Tag Team Championship Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWTag.jpg

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo defeated KroniK in 7:55 when Sean O'Haire defeated Bryan Clark by pinfall with The Widow Maker.

Winner by pinfall: Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo. O'Haire & Palumbo make defence number 1 of their WCW Tag Team titles.

(50)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/DVon.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Bubba.jpg

As O'Haire and Palumbo are celebrating in the ring, the Dudley Boyz run out from the crowd and attack them. They hit both Sean O'Haire and then Chuck Palumbo with a 3D before D'Von "gets the tables!" They put both of the current WCW Champions through tables, and escape back through the crowd before security can nab them. The commentators are left to ask what that was all about, and Shane McMahon is visibly fuming.

(61)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Booker.jpg

Booker T comes to the ring, grabs the microphone and gives whoever took Goldberg out an absolute spray. He says he was hoping that the new WCW had moved beyond that kind of crap, but obviously not. He also asks the WCW locker room who will answer the call tonight now in Goldberg's absence. He doesn't have to wait long...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/DDP.jpg

It's Diamond Dallas Page!! DDP comes striding out to the ring, grabs a mike and says two words... "You're on!!" We have a title match!

(78)

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWWHC.jpg

This turns out to be a really good bout that features a couple of old WCW hands, who were both still incredibly popular. In the end, and after plenty of back and forth, some great action and a really good crowd presence, Booker T manages to pick up the win over DDP after fifteen minutes with a pinfall after a Harlem Hangover.

Winner by pinfall: Booker T. Booker T successfully defends his WCW World Heavyweight title for the first time in cracking style.

(67)

After the match, Booker T climbs up on the apron to show his title to the crowd. He then goes over to DDP and offers him his hand. DDP shakes Booker's hand, before they hug in the centre of the ring. Both superstars then point up at the WCW sign, signifying the start of the new era in World Championship Wrestling.

When suddenly...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/HHH.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Austin.jpg

Out of nowhere, Booker T and DDP are jumped by Triple H and Austin, who then proceed to beat the two WCW superstars into the ground.

(99)

After the beating, Austin and Triple H stand tall in the WCW ring, taunting the WCW crowd. Austin then picks up the World Heavyweight Championship and climbs the turnbuckles, triumphantly holding up both the WWF and WCW major championships as we go off the air with a parting shot of Shane McMahon, sitting with his head in his hands.

It wasn't supposed to be like this!!

From the desk of Vince McMahon: I'm pleasantly pleased by how well our inaugural episode of WCW Thunder went considering a lot of the stuff that was going on backstage. There was just a bunch of contractual stuff we couldn't get over the line before Thunder which meant we had to do the show without Ric Flair, Scott Steiner, Goldberg, Sting, Rey Mysterio, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes. They were all since sewn up in the next two days, so expect to see all of those big names at the Slamboree PPV.

Without those guys we had to change the show considerably, but as I said before, it still went off quite well. We did need to use a few "work-arounds" though. Seeing as Sting wasn't available we actually made Glen Jacobs don the face-paint and wig, sit up in the rafters and we made sure as hell that the cameras didn't come in too close. We also had to substitute Goldberg for a body-double, none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin himself, but again, with the right amount of fancy camera work and the way we positioned his body I don't think anybody noticed. There's bound to be a few Internet nuts I guess, but nobody will ever believe them.

When it came to renegotiating the contracts with the WCW workers what surprised me the most was how many of these guys just didn't like me, and were reluctant to even talk to me, even though I hadn't personally done anything to warrant their animosity. I can only figure it was a hangover from the WWF-WCW rivalry days. Still, I managed to persuade each and every one of them with a big bag of cash, as well as the assurance if they could work with Eric Bischoff for so long, surely they could work with me, right??

Finally, during our first week I had incidents with Raven and Steve Blackman where they both tested positive to drugs. I took the fatherly approach with both of them, and although Steve Blackman seemed to respond positively to it, he's such a nobody that if he messes up again, that's probably the end of his career with our company. Raven didn't take it so well, which really bugs me seeing as he's secured a title shot against Triple H at Judgment Day. We'll see how that pans out, but I don't see him wearing any gold in the near future with that kind of attitude.

OOC: A lot of the WCW guys in this mod start off unsigned, which meant a whole swag of them weren't available for my first Thunder, which really sucked. That first paragraph there explains which ones missed out due to this fact that I would've liked to use on the show. The second paragraph explains how I "gamed" the system to get around Sting and Goldberg not being available. I went with Kane because he has the exact same popularity as Sting and Austin because everybody knows Goldberg is just an Austin ripoff anyway, right?? On an amusing note it's probably the best score Goldberg will get in my game working a lone angle based on Overness. The third paragraph alludes to the fact that guys like Sting and Scott Steiner (among others) start the mod with a hatred of Vince McMahon, so I had to change that to Simmering Tension in order to get their contracts across the line. I also gave those guys big bonuses to mimic the "big bag of cash". Otherwise we have no story, as nobody wants to see WCW without Sting and Steiner.

Nice start! Looking forward to reading more.

I just playing TEW recently and have been playing around with that mod as I want to see the inVasion with a few more WCW names and without Triple H getting hurt or the Rock going to Hollywood.

I also choose that mod because there are no diaries for it, so I am looking forward to see how yours develops. I can already tell you are going in a completely different direction then I am working on.

WCW Slamboree, Sunday Week 1, May 2001

GA Georgia Dome (South East)

Attendance: 62,313

Announcers: Mike Tenay, Tony Schiavone, Dusty Rhodes

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Tenay.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Schiavone.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Dusty.jpg

Tony Schiavone welcomes his announce partners Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes back to the announce table after their absence from the inaugural WCW Thursday Thunder. They all agree it's exciting to be here as we usher WCW into a new era of sports entertanment. A big night is on the cards, with all four major WCW titles being up for grabs, including a tournament to decide the newly vacated United States Championship.

(74)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpg

Shane comes to the ring and welcomes everyone to the first ever WCW Pay Per View under his leadership, Slamboree. He says that he's just as excited for tonight as each and every one of the fans and in just a moment the first United States Championship tournament quarter final will be getting underway. First off the bat though, he wants to address the cowardly actions of Vince's "lackeys", Triple H and Steve Austin, and their actions closing out Thunder on Thursday night. He states that tonight he's put on extra security in order to stop any WWF “invaders” or, for that matter, any “off-contract, disgruntled ex-WCW employees” who may want to get into the building and cause havoc. He also states that he's not going to retaliate against WWF's thuggish behaviour on Raw is War this coming Monday night, as he and his company are bigger and better than that.

United State Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWUS.jpg

The first match in the United States tournament is a fast paced, action-packed matchup but with not much in the way of heat. Despite constant interference from Adams' tag team partner Bryan Clark, Diamond Dallas Page was able to get the win in 7:33 by pinfall after hitting the Diamond Cutter. DDP caps off the victory by pointing to the United States title suspended above the ring, which the commentators point out he's held twice before.

Winner by pinfall: Diamond Dallas Page

(74)

United State Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWUS.jpg

In a pretty ordinary match that crowd didn't seem remotely interested in, Mike Awesome defeated Mark Jindrak in 7:45 by pinfall after an Awesome Bomb. Mike Awesome proceeds in the tournament through to the semi-finals where he will face the impressive Diamond Dallas Page.

Winner by pinfall: Mike Awesome

(39)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Eddie.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Saturn.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Malenko.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Mystery.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Mystery.jpg

As Mike Awesome is leaving the ring, the camera cuts to the crowd where former WCW stars Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko are sitting with two mysterious hooded figures. As the commentators question why WWF superstars are in the building, and speculate on who the masked men could be, they all hold up their tickets, showing that they've legitimately paid to be here tonight.

(49)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Buff.jpg VS http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Storm.jpg

United State Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWUS.jpg

This match had some pretty good action but not much in the way of heat. Lance Storm actually held his own and dominated for large parts of the match, until the referee got distracted and Buff Bagwell hit him with a low blow. That was enough for Buff to follow up with a Yellow Jacket Suplex, steal the victory and advance to the semi-finals.

Winner by pinfall: Buff Bagwell

(67)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Flair.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Stacy.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Steiner.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Torrie.jpg

Ric Flair and Scott Steiner make their first appearance in Shane McMahon's WCW along with Stacy Kiebler and Torrie Wilson on their respective arms. Steiner grabs a mic and says that if Shane isn't going to take advantage of these beautiful ladies' services, then they sure as hell will. Flair then grabs the mic and denies that Shane gave them last week off, stating that they didn't attend because neither of them wants to be a part of this imitation of WCW. They are only here in attendance tonight because Shane's lawyers are contractually forcing them to attend, but on that note, they're both done for the night...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpg

Shane comes to the ring and says that it's a real shame they're leaving so early, as they're both booked in tonight’s Main Event, a battle royal for the World Heavyweight Championship along with Goldberg and Booker T! They both seem to change their tune pretty quickly at that point, even going out of their way to each shake Shane's hand and officially welcome him to WCW.

(78)

United State Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWUS.jpg

The last quarter final in the United States Championship tournament saw the WWF Hardcore champion Kanyon going head to head with Hugh Morrus in a match with plenty of good action but not much in the way of heat. After 8:06, Kanyon managed to pick up the win by pinfall after he hit Morrus with a Kanyon Cutter. Kanyon now advances to the semi finals to take on Buff Bagwell.

Winner by pinfall: Kanyon

(59)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Booker.jpg

Booker T is being interviewed backstage, and says that he's up against it tonight having to face Goldberg, Flair and Scott Steiner all at the same time, but he'll show why he's a "Four time, four time, four time, four time World Heavyweight Champion!!"

I hope you were able to dig that... sucka.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship Ladder Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWCruiser.jpg

The crowd weren't really into this match, but there was certainly some fantastic, high-paced action as these cruiserweights did what cruiserweights do best. In the end though, and in his return to WCW, Rey Mysterio picked up the win in 7:49 when he climbed the ladder and retrieved the belt.

Rey celebrates winning the WCW Cruiserweight title for the sixth time by pointing to his good friend Eddie Guerrero, who is seen celebrating in the crowd.

Winner by retrieving the belt and new WCW Cruiserweight Champion: Rey Mysterio

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shane.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Goldberg.jpg

Shane is sitting in his office when Goldberg bursts in, obviously furious. This was the first time Shane has ever been face-to-face with "the animal", and he was looking fairly intimidated as Goldberg got in his face and demanded answers for the "nWo" attack on him Thursday night. Shane says all he can tell Goldberg is what he's already told the world... Hogan, Nash & Hall are definitely not employed by WCW, so it's either someone else trying to be the nWo or it's those guys acting outside the bounds of WCW. He says to try not to worry about it, as they won't be let into the arena tonight to interfere with his World Heavyweight Championship match.

Goldberg glares at him and says "they better not be" before storming out. Shane looks worried.

United State Championship Tournament Semi Final Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWUS.jpg

The first semi final of the United States Championship tournament had some good action but not much in the way of heat. Kanyon actually had Bagwell under complete control for the majority of the match until at about the 11 minute mark...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Rhyno.jpg

Rhyno emerges from the crowd and comes out to the edge of the ring. Kanyon gets distracted by him for just long enough for Buff to sneak up behind him, hit him with a Yellow Jacket Suplex, and get the pinfall. Bagwell then flees the ring as fast as he can, obviously pretty pleased that he has qualified for the final of the tournament.

Winner by pinfall: Buff Bagwell

(63)

After buff leaves the ring, Rhyno climbs in and starts to attack Kanyon. He beats him down viciously with a steel chair before security surrounds him and gets him out of there.

(48)

United State Championship Tournament Semi Final Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWUS.jpg

The second semi final of the United States Championship tournament was a very hard-fought affair between DDP and Mike Awesome. Diamond Dallas Page emerged victorious, however, after 12:16, when he managed to pin Awesome after hitting him with a Diamond Cutter. DDP advances in the tournament to meet Buff in the final.

Winner by pinfall: Diamond Dallas Page

(71)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/OHaire.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Palumbo.jpg

Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo come out to the ring and call out the Dudley Boyz after their "gutless attack" Thursday night. When nothing happens they offer to put their WCW tag titles on the line, right here, right now. All of a sudden, the two masked men sitting in the crowd with the Radicalz stand up, and pull back their hoods...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/DVon.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Bubba.jpg

It's the Dudley Boyz!! They make their way through the crowd down to the ring signalling their intention to take up O'Haire & Palumbo on their offer.

(54)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/DVon.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Bubba.jpg VS http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/OHaire.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Palumbo.jpg

WCW Tag Team Championship Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWTag.jpg

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, the Dudley Boyz defeated Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo in 12:25 when Bubba Ray Dudley defeated Chuck Palumbo by pinfall with a Power Bomb. The eight time ECW and three time WWF tag team champions can now add another championship to their impressive resume.

Winner by pinfall and new WCW Tag Team Champions: The Dudley Boyz

(73)

As the Dudley Boyz celebrate winning the WCW Tag Team Titles in the ring, we cut back to Shane McMahon in his office looking furious. The commentators note that he will be filthy at O'Haire and Palumbo for even giving these non-WCW wrestlers a title shot.

(58)

United State Championship Tournament Final Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWUS.jpg

The United States Championship tournament final between DDP and Bagwell proved to be a very good matchup with a good crowd and good action between the most consistent superstar of the tournament (DDP) and the guy who cheated the most to get there (Bagwell). In the end, Diamond Dallas Page picked up the win when he defeated Buff Bagwell in 12:01 by pinfall after a Diamond Cutter.

Winner by pinfall and new WCW United States Champion: Diamond Dallas Page

(72)

After the match, DDP climbs the turnbuckle to show off his championship to the fans. All of a sudden, Bagwell hits him with a low blow, causing him to fall awkwardly onto the turnbuckle and into the ring. Bagwell then sinks numerous boots into him, before leaving the arena with a smug look on his face.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Battle Royal Match

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/WCWWHC.jpg

The undoubted match of the night was this World Heavyweight Championship battle royal between four of WCW's biggest names. There was plenty of great action and great heat from the audience, with the first elimination coming when Scott Steiner turned around and walked face-first into a spear from Goldberg. Booker T managed to hold Ric Flair off while the animal made the pin. Goldberg then proceeded to dominate both Flair and Booker T, and after spearing both of them in succession looks to make a pin, when all of a sudden, some familiar music hits...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Nash.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Hogan.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Hall.jpg

The three former WCW superstars, dressed in their black and white nWo colours came out and stand at the top of the ramp, causing Goldberg to exit the ring and start walking up towards them. The three of them attack him at once, and beat him down before Kevin Nash jacknife powerbombs him into the concrete. Hall and Hogan then roll him back into the ring, just as Flair comes to and makes the pinfall. Flair then looks to Booker T who is starting to stir, and quickly grabs him, drags him into the centre of the ring and locks in the figure-four!

Booker is holding on for dear life... in complete agony... just out of reach of the ropes, when...

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Sting.jpg

Sting decends from the rafters!! He comes absailing down to within a metre of Ric Flair's face, causing Flair to break the submission hold. Flair grabs at Sting, who shoots back into the air and rises back towards the ceiling again, out of reach of the nature boy. Flair then turns around right into a Bookend!! Booker T makes the cover and gets the pinfall. Booker then celebrates in the ring with his title, as Flair is visibly fuming and pointing towards the rafters.

Winner by pinfall: Booker T. Booker makes defence number two of his WCW World Heavyweight title.

(78)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Nash.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Hogan.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Hall.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Goldberg.jpg

The camera cuts to the backstage area where a furious Goldberg is walking through knocking over tables and chairs and generally smashing everything in sight. He gets to the carpark area and sees the three members of the nWo quickly trying to flee the building. Goldberg spears Scott Hall, but Hogan and Nash regroup and counter-attack, laying the boots into him. He tries to fights back, but the numbers advantage gets the better of him as all three members of the nWo perform a clinical beatdown.

Slamboree goes off the air with the commentators wondering what the return of the nWo could possibly mean for Shane McMahon and the rest of World Championship Wrestling.

Damn good shows so far. Splitting the rosters is a very good idea, so that you can continue operations without having to worry about too much cross-promoting between the brands. The Hardyz grabbing the Tag titles is a good move, then again without making a brand new team like the WWF did IRL, who else really is there? Especially with the Dudleyz leaving the picture. 2001 was basically the last time that a tag team division was hot, and I really hope to see you run with it.
