Pro Wrestling WILD: It's As Bad As It Seems

Recommended Posts

Bob Shrunkle vs Nighthawk

Thoughts: No one can move the blob!

East Coast Panther & Surfer Dude Lucas vs Simon McBain & Toasty Bonnar

Thoughts: The heels seem like they fit together more than the faces and East Coast Panther will probably take himself out with his crazy flips leaving Lucas 1 on 2.

Joe Zucco vs Whirlwind Lee Wilkes

Thoughts: Wilkes bio sells him short, he's actually pretty good by the standards of the Australian C-Verse.

Lee Bawes vs Lorenzo Oliverio

Thoughts: Eat, Sleep, Suplex, Repeat.

FUYUHIKO vs Michel Bernard

Thoughts: Bernard got a win last time, so I'll say the ninjas evens it up.

Fuzzy Freeman vs Trehawke Phillips

Thoughts: He was a part of the best match on the last show.

WILD Heavyweight Championship Tournament Final

Big Daddy Horne vs Blaze Maximum

Thoughts: Big Bob Shrunkle seems like the logical next challenger for Blaze.

Should have added this in with the predictions when I posted them but I drew up a Strawpoll (multiple choice so go WILD ;)) about the worker spotlights.

POLL

Not going to apologise for the amount I've posted in here today, it's helped me get through the seemingly year & a half to two year dry spell I've had with show writing and such.

Bob Shrunkle vs Nighthawk

Thoughts: As much as well all love Nighthawk... he's like zero overness and this is a squash.

East Coast Panther & Surfer Dude Lucas vs Simon McBain & Toasty Bonnar

Thoughts: ECP is there to take a pin.

Joe Zucco vs Whirlwind Lee Wilkes

Thoughts: The most uninteresting man in wrestling will look just interesting enough to win this match.

Lee Bawes vs Lorenzo Oliverio

Thoughts: He's a foreigner

FUYUHIKO vs Michel Bernard

Thoughts: Tag "Teams" split, and FUYUHIKO is interesting.

Fuzzy Freeman vs Trehawke Phillips

Thank you for the Hornee shout out :D

Anytime! As I've said to you in the live chat before, I'm a massive fan of your APW worker. It only felt right to throw in the Big Daddy Hornee reference.

Just in time for card #2! I thought the format/writing style for the first show was really clean and I liked it. On a side note, I'm going to try to work in more 80s references into my life so I can drop "The world has been terrible since the 80s." on people. Like Wagon, I'm glad this got going as well!

First off, thanks for the feedback on the writing. Not going to lie, was proper anxious about how it would come off but I totally agree with you. So much cleaner looking now.

Secondly, I may or may not be planning the same thing with 80s references. Been playing a lot of GTA: Vice City recently as well, so it's helping with references.

Really good stuff. I'm digging Bob Shrunkle, and "You, Mister Chokey. Outside. Now." will go down as one of the best things I've read all day.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm writing Bob as someone who doesn't know most of his employees names so Mister Chokey may or may not be Michel Bernard's permanent Shrunkle-ised name. :p

Normally I do not enjoy C-Verse, but I love the little quirky projects like this one! Keep up the good work MHero :D

Thanks packerman! Little and quirky is what I am for, big projects never work for me. I'd much rather just be myself in my writing than try and write for several different characters.

How did I miss this? Great stuff MHero.

Glad to have you on board! If this lives up to even a smidgen of how much EPW and your other projects make me laugh, I'll take that as a victory.

WILD WORKER SPOTLIGHT #2

written by David Avatar

The other competitor in the WILD Heavyweight Championship clash, this worker spotlight focuses on the eccentric fan favourite Blaze Maximum.

http://i.imgur.com/iBfJMeA.jpg

BLAZE MAXIMUM

Height: 6ft 2in

Weight: 237lbs

Signature Moves: Maximum Overdrive (Rolling Inverted DDT [Hero’s Welcome/Cross Rhodes]), Diving Elbow Drop

Bombastic from the get-go, Blaze Maximum burst onto the Australian wrestling scene in December 2003 and hasn’t looked back since. Working for most, if not all, of the regional promotions in the country, Maximum never seemed to be able to hold down a steady job with rumours of cocaine fuelled rages and a bad attitude seeing him fall out with promoters.

Virtually blackballed from the wrestling scene, the formation of Revolution Australian Wrestling in March 2009 saw Blaze get a second chance. Entering the soap opera meets wrestling hybrid as a larger than life ordinary man who was looking to make his name in the world, he soon engaged in a feud with The A-Listers, the arrogant pair decreeing that Blaze would never make it in RAW as long as they breathed.

http://i.imgur.com/yeC8MOO.jpg

Losing out on his chance to make it, Blaze was “fired” from RAW but appeared in the next episode under the name of “Maze Blaximum”. The feud with The A-Listers seemingly dropped, Maze Blaximum instead feuded with Crazy Train after Crazy Train interrupted Blaximum’s debut.

Leaving RAW in late 2012 due to a steroid allegation, Blaze resumed the life of a drifter until 2014 rolled around. Joining fledgling promotion KCCW - ran by ex-TCW worker Harry Allen - and DIW as well as WILD, Blaze has become one of the busiest men in Australia but that hasn’t stopped him from setting his sights squarely on the WILD Heavyweight Championship.

This will probably be the last time I update this without a show being posted so here is the match card and spotlight poll stuff.

WILD You've Got Another Thing Coming

Bob Shrunkle vs Nighthawk

In a match that Nighthawk won’t be rushing to remember, Bob Shrunkle crushed the face painted hero. Coming down to the ring accompanied by Pete Moriarty, Shrunkle looked like a man with a load of focus. Not giving Nighthawk any chances, Shrunkle ended the squash with a Sit-Down Splash that nearly engulfed the frame of Nighthawk.

In an extremely poor match, Bob Shrunkle defeated Nighthawk in 5:09 by pinfall with a Sit-Down Splash.

East Coast Panther & Surfer Dude Lucas vs Simon McBain & Toasty Bonnar

McBain and Bonnar took the fight straight to Lucas & Panther in the opening moments of the match, the combined pain of being so sad and having a terrible name fuelling them. The burst of energy soon disappeared though and this gave Lucas & Panther the opening they needed. Lucas using his power advantage to throw the smaller men about even dumping Bonnar over the top rope almost single-handedly followed by a spectacular plancha by East Coast Panther that wiped out both Bonnar & Panther. Without his partner to save him, McBain soon fell to Lucas’ patented Spinning Angle Slam.

In an absolutely wretched bout that was devoid of action or heat, East Coast Panther and Surfer Dude Lucas defeated Simon McBain and Toasty Bonnar in 8:04 when Surfer Dude Lucas defeated Simon McBain by pinfall with a Spinning Angled Slam.

Joe Zucco vs Whirlwind Lee Wilkes

Zucco continued his thieving ways, this time trying to escape with a fan’s bag until Edward Daicos admonished him for this whilst Whirlwind Lee Wilkes looked on bemused in the ring. Once the bell rung, Wilkes took Zucco to wrestling school employing a variety of basic maneuvers to trip up the would-be wrestling criminal. Almost gaining the win with an an armbar in the sixth minute, the match was pretty much a showcase of Wilkes’ wrestling talents. Eventually putting Zucco away with a headlock in the eighth minute, Wilkes soon made the challenge to whoever won in the main event that he would be watching and that he is coming for the champion, no matter who they are.

In an extremely poor match, Whirlwind Lee Wilkes defeated Joe Zucco in 8:18 by headlock.

Lee Bawes vs Lorenzo Oliverio

Oliverio made his way out to the ring taunting almost everyone in the building from the referee to the fans and especially Lee Bawes. Bawes obviously took exception to this as he stormed to the ring and had to be held back by Wels Farmer. Once the bell rang, Oliverio slid out of the ring and pointed to his head trying to claim he was the smarter man. Trying to avoid getting in the ring, Oliverio made the fatal mistake of trying to slide in behind Bawes. With Bawes’ almost inhuman reflexes kicking in, Oliverio ended up being suplexed all over the ring with fans in attendance counting seven suplexes being used in this match. Finishing the match off with a bridging Northern Lights suplex, Bawes offered his hand to Oliverio but instead was attacked by the enraged Italian. The attack didn’t end well as Bawes managed to counter an Oliverio DDT attempt into a released Northern Lights suplex [i’m imagining it as Lee litfs Lorenzo and then drops him on his back instead of bridging over], this time leaving the cocky Italian Australian on the floor as Bawes simply made his way to the backstage area.

In a terrible match that had some truly awful wrestling, Lee Bawes defeated Lorenzo Oliverio in 8:20 by pinfall with a Brainbuster Suplex.

FUYUHIKO vs Michel Bernard

Coming out to help Oliverio up and to the back, Bernard didn’t look amused by the fans “just sitting by and allowing Lorenzo to be assaulted like a common person”. He also didn’t look amused when his opponent for the night walked out. Shouting that he beat him last month and shouldn’t even be facing him this month, Bernard instead attempted to go on strike. The strike lasted all of 30 seconds before FUYUHIKO forced him to his feet before heading to his corner to allow the match to begin. Bernard, enraged by this act, attempted to launch himself at the half-ninja warrior with FUYUHIKO deftly moving out of the way each time. Taking control of the match, FUYUHIKO used pin point strikes to incapacitate Bernard and keep him from getting control of any part of FUYUHIKO’s body. The momentum of the match shifted as soon as Joe Zucco bizarrely made his way out to the ring. With FUYUHIKO distracted by Zucco Bernard took the opportunity to run up and off the middle rope turnbuckle - acting as a sprindboard platform - before surprising FUYUHIKO with a tornado DDT, keeping control and rolling through to lock in the Cross Armlock with FUYUHIKO tapping out shortly after the hold was applied.

http://i.imgur.com/tQObIze.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/lKDnH2w.jpg

Post-match, Bernard called Zucco over and shook his hand which was followed by a wink and Zucco scurrying to the back with the eager eyes in the audience noting a wad of money in the hands of Zucco.

In an absolutely wretched bout that was devoid of action or heat, Michel Bernard defeated FUYUHIKO in 8:09 by submission with a Cross Armlock.

Fuzzy Freeman vs Trehawke Phillips

In a refreshing pace to the evening, both men played by the rules here, once Fuzzy remembered where he was. Surprisingly it was Fuzzy who controlled the pace of the match, using quick hit and run tactics to keep the elder statesman Trehawke down. Going for a Melon Bomber (second rope senton) proved to be Fuzzy’s mistake as Trehawke moved out of the way and took charge from there. However this advantage would prove to be short-lived as the monstrous Bob Shrunkle made his way out to the ring and blatantly slugged Trehawke across the face, giving him the win by disqualification - Fuzzy not noticing this until two minutes after it happened - but making sure Shrunkle left his mark on Trehawke. Trehawke looked on fuming as Shrunkle made his way to the back but still remained in the ring to give Fuzzy Freeman a handshake and an offer for a rematch at some point in the future.

In a bout that had a good crowd but featured terrible wrestling, Trehawke Phillips defeated Fuzzy Freeman in 11:48 when Fuzzy Freeman was disqualified when Bob Shrunkle ran in and attacked Trehawke Phillips.

WILD Heavyweight Championship Tournament Final

http://i.imgur.com/zhMXk1r.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/1wvq4sZ.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/iBfJMeA.jpg

Big Daddy Horne vs Blaze Maximum

Referee Edward Daicos made sure to allow both men into the ring before allowing the ring announcer to make the introductions and show the WILD Heavyweight championship to both competitors however both men’s eyes remained locked on each other. Blaze Maximum made the first move, showering Big Daddy Horne with wild punches and kicks which sent to the giant to his knees. Attempting to follow this up with a lariat, Blaze instead bounced off of Big Daddy Horne. Trying this again to the same result, Blaze tried to change it up with a crossbody only to be caught by Horne and slammed to the mat. Picking Blaze Maximum up, Horne proceeded to pick him up and slam him down for another three times before posing to the crowd. This allowed Blaze to pick himself up and attack Horne. Unable to lift the big man, Blaze instead resorted to attempting to take Horne down, eventually succeeding and forcing Horne to take up a defensive position as blow upon blow rained down on him. Breaking away from Horne, Blaze let out a spirited roar, pointing to the top rope. Leaping from the top rope with a wonderful Diving Elbow Drop, it looked like Blaze had the title but somehow Horne managed to just get a shoulder up at 2. Maximum looked shocked at this and climbed up to the top rope again. Crashing and burning this time, Horne ended the match after picking up Maximum and putting him down for the count with a big Sidewalk Slam.

http://i.imgur.com/zhMXk1r.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/5spBPyt.jpg

Post-match Horne celebrated the win until Pete Moriarty made his way out to the ringside area. Offering Horne a handshake and his services, Moriarty looked on smugly until Horne ignored him and walked out of the ring with his newly won championship, Moriarty looking on in a silent rage with this act.

In a bout that had a good crowd but featured terrible wrestling, Big Daddy Horne defeated Blaze Maximum in 15:16 by pinfall with a Sidewalk Slam. Big Daddy Horne wins the WILD Heavyweight title.

Backstage

The entire locker room congratulated both Big Daddy Horne and Blaze Maximum for their efforts.

http://i.imgur.com/D4KLidV.jpg

David Avatar watched on, happy in the knowledge that another show had been and gone. Hopefully this time, there would be no choking incidents. Curiously, David Avatar noticed Bob Shrunkle sheepishly making his way over to Big Daddy Horne with what appeared to be an old APW poster from the early days.

http://i.imgur.com/NdZG3S3.jpg

“Hi there, hope it’s not too much of a bother to ask for an autograph. My son’s a big fan of yours”.

Big Daddy Horne looked up suspiciously. He was used to years of people not being a fan of his due to totally untrue rumours about his backstage attitude.

http://i.imgur.com/zhMXk1r.jpg

“Eh, yeah. Why not? Got to keep the Little Hornee’s happy”.

The poster signed, Big Daddy Horne lumbered away leaving an awe-struck Bob Shrunkle in his wake. David Avatar made his way over to his boss.

http://i.imgur.com/D4KLidV.jpg

“Bob, you don’t have a son”.

“Shut up Tiny. You’re ruining the moment”.

Personal preference. Lucas has a much brighter future at that.

FUYUHIKO vs Joe Zucco

Stealing a win this time around

East Coast Panther vs Nighthawk

I just can't trust ECP to win a match

Fuzzy Freeman & Lee Baws vs Lorenzo Oliverio & Michel Bernard

I can see the heels sneaking a win out of this, but Fuzzy could be a future challenger for BDH

Blaze Maximum vs Toasty Bonnar

Zerotosixtythreesixtyfivetimesayeardigit!

Bob Shrunkle vs Trehawke Phillips

See Shrunkle perhaps getting a title shot at the 'mentor' eventually, but Phillips might be a better candidate for the time being.
