Block A

Cavernario vs. Yohei Komatsu

Cavernario is one of CMLL's fastest-rising stars and he's already been wrestling for 7 years despite only being 21 years old. Last year, he wrestled in the semi main event of the CMLL Anniversary Show, beating Rey Cometa in a Hair vs. Hair match. It's fair to say that he's far above young Yohei Komatsu and the wildman eased to victory via submission thanks to the La Cavernaria (Seated Surfboard).

Block B

El Desperado vs. U-T

Young U-T is a member of the Millenials faction in Dragon Gate. He's a two-year pro that trained in the Dragon Gate system before deciding to finish his training in Mexico. He struggled from the get-go here as the dastardly El Desperado took shortcut after shortcut to stay ahead. Once the match broke down, U-T fared much better with the quicker pace. He slipped out of the Guitarra de Angel and slammed his unsuspecting opponent into the canvas with a Front Flip Piledriver (think Canadian Destroyer) for the pinfall victory.

Block A

Tiger Mask IV vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima

Katsuhiko Nakajima was a late addition after injury forced Kenny Omega to submit his place in the tournament. It appears that the NOAH representive had done his homework, he employed his educated feet to keep the veteran off his game and pushed on to an impressive victory after a Northern Lights Bomb (Scoop Brainbuster).

Block B

Sho Tanaka vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

From one NOAH competitor to another, although Zack Sabre Jr. is a little more well-travelled than Nakajima. A very brash and arrogant young man, Sabre Jr. completely out-wrestled the young lion here. Despite Tanaka's always admirable fighting spirit, he found himself locked in one submission too many and had no choice but to submit when trapped in a Cross Armbreaker.

Block A

TAKA Michinoku vs. Eita

A 23 year-old four year pro, Eita has experienced far more success than fellow Millenials member U-T (mostly thanks to a very successful tag team with T-Hawk). In fact, Eita is really, really good. He puts in a fabulous performance tonight, always looking comfortable against the veteran TAKA. As Eita is coasting to victory, TAKA thumbs in the eye and rolls him up to steal the victory!

Block B

Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Mascara Dorada

Believe it or not, this is the first time that these two have faced off since their three singles matches in 2011, they haven't even been on opposing sides in a six or eight-man tag this year either. Probably for a good reason, their different styles really don't click, Dorada is very fast and Taguchi struggles to deal with it. His years of experience come in handy though, he locks on an Ankle Lock to slow the luchador down before blocking a Wheelbarrow Victory Roll attempt to hit the Dodon's Throne (Elevated Double Chickenwing into a Double Knee Gutbuster) for the 2 points.

Block A

Kyle O'Reilly vs. Ricochet

The first of two Gaijin vs. Gaijin matches that will take place tonight, this match was predictably a contest between O'Reilly's submission accumen and Ricochet's high-flying prowess. The two were fairly even when it came to strikes, but Ricochet's high-impact high-risk offence paid off tonight. The Benadryller wasn't enough (O'Reilly has taken more than his fair share of kicks to the face), but after the always-spectacular 630 Senton Splash, Ricochet was off the mark.

Block B

KUSHIDA vs. Bobby Fish

Having just watched his tag team partner lose, Fish was determined not to follow suit. Tournament favourite KUSHIDA struggled at the start as Fish enjoyed the early physicality of this contest. But once the 'Time Splitter' got some momentum going, he was impossible to stop. After connecting flush with a beautiful Handspring Back Elbow, KUSHIDA locked on the Hoverboard Lock and Fish had no choice but to tap out and save his left arm for the fights down the road.

Block A

Alex Shelley vs. Jay Lethal

The ROH World Television Champion was without Truth Martini tonight but enjoyed the advantage for most of the match, showcasing some excellent technical wrestling skills in the process. But Shelley was the fan's firm favourite and they rallied behind him as he smartly got his knees up when Lethal attempted the Hail to the King (Diving Elbow Drop) and then trapped him in the Shelley Clutch (La Magistral) to pick up the pinfall victory.

Block B

Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Rocky Romero

The token Liger appearance was saved until the end - for good reason, this was the Match Of The Night. This was easily the match the fans were most interested in seeing, probably because they are very familiar with both of these competitors. Romero intensity had Liger reeling for most of the match but he lacked the conviction to apply a finishing touch. Liger used his experience to steer clear of Romero's patented submissions - his Ankle Lock and Diablo Armbar were both unsuccessful. Liger made a comeback, the 50-year-old didn't look a year of it as he delivered a Somersault Senton from the apron to the floor. With no time to waste, he rolled Romero back in the ring and executed a mean-looking nasty Liger Suplex to fold Romero in half, and in turn, pick up the all-important two points.

Block A

Kyle O'Reilly (0) vs. Yohei Komatsu (0)

Having lost to Ricochet on Day One, O'Reilly was hungry to get some points on the board here. He had the perfect opportunity and took full advantage of Komatsu's inexperience, winning fairly comfortably inside ten minutes with a Brainbuster.

Block B

Rocky Romero (0) vs. Sho Tanaka (0)

Just like O'Reilly before him, Romero suffered defeat on Day One. Sho was competitive throughout this one, utilising his new-found submission skills to put some hurting on his experienced opponent. But the fire of

Rocky won out in the end and he capped off victory with the Foreign Devil (Diving Double Knee Drop).

Block A

Tiger Mask IV (0) vs. Eita (0)

Eita was also defeated on Day One, even after an very impressive performance. Equally, he had his work cut out here against the fourth iteration of Tiger Mask. The Veteran took the fight to Eita in the earlygoing and made it very difficult for the Millenial to gain any momentum. Eita was grounded for the good part of ten minutes but eventually managed to up the anti and quicken the pace. This proved to be the turning point and Eita raced to victory courtesy of his deadly Numero Uno (Seated Scissored Armbar) submission manouver.

Block B

U-T (2) vs. Bobby Fish (0)

Compared to the previous match, this was like ordering steak and being told you had to settle for a hamburger. Fish spent most of the match working over U-T's right leg and kept the high-flyer exactly where he wanted him. Although the crowd got behind the youngster as U-T tried to mount a comeback, Fish locked on the Fish Hook (Heel Hook), and the Millenial submitted the match right away so as to fight another day.

Block A

TAKA Michinoku (2) vs. Ricochet (2)

The best match of the night up to this point, TAKA's basic offence meshed really well with Ricochet's high-octane arsenal and what we were left with was a simple yet very effective little wrestling match. TAKA kept trying to steal a win: whether it was a thumb to the eye or a low blow, he refused to even try and out-wrestle Ricochet. However, the sheer force of the 'Future Of Flight' prevailed and he picked up the victory after a Benadryller left Michinoku staring at the lights.

Block B

KUSHIDA (2) vs. El Desperado (0)

After losing on Day One, Desperado needed an inspired performance to knock KUSHIDA off tonight. But instead of that, he put in arguably an even worse performance and thus, KUSHIDA made short work of him. Despite Despy's best efforts, the Hoverboard Lock was putting him out of his misery really and he can only hope that he fares better tomorrow against young lion Sho Tanaka.

Block A

Alex Shelley (2) vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima (2)

Both of these two competitors picked up victories on the first day and considering they both appear to be in good form, this was an extremely closely-fought match. Nakajima fared well when on a vertical base - his suplexes and his "educated feet" put the 'Time Splitter' in some considerable pain. But Shelley kept fighting on. Nakajima attempted a German Suplex close to the corner, but Shelley blocked it by climbing up the turnbuckle padding before flipping backwards into a Sliced Bread #2! It was a phenomenal counter and although it took Shelley several seconds to make the cover (out of sheer disbelief), the move was still enough to pick up the victory.

Block B

Jushin Thunder Liger (2) vs. Ryusuke Taguchi (2)

Easily the best match of the night, it's quite startling that Liger is still one of the best wrestlers in this division and nobody really comes that close to him. He put on a superb match with Taguchi tonight, the two not only have fantastic chemistry, they're also very familiar with each other too. Taguchi has built most of his success around his Dodon finishing manouver, but against a Veteran like Liger, that move is effectively useless. Taguchi attempts it, but Liger counters first with an Arm Drag and then with a Victory Roll and then a third time, he hits him with what can only be described as an Inverted Rolling Dropkick. From here, Liger presses on and sees his way home to victory after a Liger Suplex.

Block A

Cavernario (2) vs. Jay Lethal (0)

One should have expected this match to reach the heights of the previous bout but for whatever reason, this one never really pulled out of first gear. Cavernario took control, he's always a fast starter and usually seizes the first fall in most Lucha Libre two out of three-falls matches. Lethal lived on the edge for a while, but had his Lethal Combination countered. Cavernario slipped behind him and took him down to his knees to lock on the La Cavernaria (Seated Surfboard) for the submission victory.

Block B

Mascara Dorada (0) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (2)

Another match that perhaps should have been better given its place on the card, maybe the New Japan officials had some misplaced confidence here. Like most Dorada matches, he's a human highlight reel. He has absolutely no concern for his own wellbeing and spends most of match dazzling the crowd with gratitious flips and high-risk dives. Sabre Jr. does manage to ground the luchador and looks to work him over with submissions but his joy is short-lived as Dorada excels back into the ascendancy and takes home a big victory thanks to a Dorada Screwdriver (Modified Michinoku Driver II).
