The Future Is Here vs. The Supreme Dream Team

Dream Team is Phunk and Black right? In which case I would suspect that they are more popular than Future Is Here at the moment and thus more likely to get the win too.

Teddy Powell © vs. Nelson Callum – PSW National Title

I go with my typical no title change on first defense in the diary rule.

Simon Ice vs. Ash Campbell

Ice bit more than he can chew again, didn´t he?

Johnny Martin and Madman Boone vs. The Deadly Alliance

Martin is the top guy on this one so I go with him and Boone over real team.

Reckless Antix vs. Primal Rage – non-title

non-title usually means that champions could easily lose but I don´t see Reckless Antix being real challengers so I doubt they would get the win either.

Little Bill Lebowski vs. Corrosive

Leboswki don´t win matches.

James Casey and JD Morgan vs. Ernest Youngman and Cerberus

Youngman is the future here but he´s record shows that at this point, he´s more of a jobber and Cerberus... well, the less I say about him the better so I keep my mouth shut. :p

Dragon vs. Vendetta

I´m not even sure who Dragon is but he can´t really be worse than Vendetta, right?

Some thoughts:

I don't know who's more likely to get stolen out of your tag team main event, but elevating the young guys is needed in 2014. I just got so sick of still seeing them in PSW in 2013 that I sent Keith/Parker to CGC and popped up Callum's popularity to prep him as the next face of PSW.

Powell is still a very good hand, and the least likely guy to get stolen ever. Meanwhile, Ash Campbell needs to go away and come back, and could do with a run overseas doing a tour of IPW or WEXXV or something to get more in-ring time week to week. On that note, get a working agreement with WEXXV for additional talent prospects.

Martin and Boone are so much better than TDA, who need to go into JTTS mode immediately. Same for PR, but PR can still beat Reckless Antix to look like a threat to TFIH and TSDM (who I usually just rename Supreme).

Lebowski is the better worker, but Corrosive has more upside. Meanwhile, Cereberus is near-useless at this point in time, whereas Youngman is the future of PSW if readied properly. Don't know who Dragon is, but Vendetta can bite it.

OOC: Fair warning, from here on in the images may be a bit (or very) absent due to Photobucket deciding to charge $400 a year for third party hosting. I love TEW, but not that much - I'll move the links as and when I can, but I've done 5 pages of 26 today, I believe.

Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling presents: Crossing The Line

Friday, 26th February 2014

Your announcers:

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Naess.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Braun.jpg

Mitch Naess – Alex Braun

Mitch Naess and Alex Braun welcome everyone to the sold out Plattsburgh Rec Center, with news that Nelson Callum is capitalising on his recent hot streak to challenge Teddy Powell for the National title tonight-

Before they can continue, though, out come Grandmaster Phunk and Gregory Black, who're sore with Matthew Keith and Steven Parker for spoiling their victory party last month.

Phunk:
Victory deserves its rewards, and we had a phunking good time lined up!

Keith and Parker, with Nicole Kiss, come out and say that they're happy to apologise in person, in the ring, tonight! And when they put the pair of them down, they'll show the Supreme Dream Team exactly how to throw a victory party!

Reckless Antix vs. Dead Rage

A straight-up brawl saw the tag champions come out on top over the younger pair, with Primal Rage crushing Antix with the Last Rites for the win.

Braun:
They're not a team, they're just two wrecking balls that smash opponents aside!

Winners: Primal Rage (E)

(0-0-5) Simon Ice vs. Ash Campbell (3-1-1)

If Ice were in a clearer frame of mind at the start of this match than last month, that passed quickly as Nelson Callum came down to ringside and started chatting to a woman there. Distracted, Ice was easy prey for Campbell, who flattened him with Ash To Ash.

Naess:
And the fans let Ice know what they thought of that effort. This is PSW, Simon, the home of hardcore! If you don't get your head in the game-

Braun:
-it's going to get kicked off your shoulders.

Winner: Ash Campbell (E+)

As Callum flirted with the woman at ringside, Krissy Angelle joined Ash Campbell in the ring. Campbell said that when Callum took back the National title tonight, it'd just go to show who the real future of this business were – not some decrepit old fools...

Campbell
:
...and not this hair-dyed idiot who's going to go crying to Mommy because Nelson's about to screw his girlfriend. Again.

(2-0-3) Little Bill Lebowksi vs. Corrosive (2-0-3)

Identical records, but Lebowski's had some help from occasional partner Johnny Martin in scoring his wins. Corrosive has done things the old-fashioned way, going one-on-one every time in his matches. And while Lebowski showed real fight against the masked man, he just didn't seem to have any answer when Corrosive started using unsportsmanlike moves like a thumb to the eye or, to clinch the win, a handful or ropes for added leverage.

Naess:
Corrosive is a practical man, it seems.

Braun:
Lebowski's just a damned fool.
First
you win,
then
you worry about how.

Winner: Corrosive (E)

(0-0-0) Dragon vs. Vendetta (0-0-5)

The masked newcomer dresses like a ninja, but as one of the shorter members of the roster probably won't be making many attempts at jumping head kicks. Instead he kept the fight on the mat, tying Vendetta up and picking up the popular win with a Flying Crossbody.

Naess:
Impressive win for the debutant – they controlled the whole match.

Braun:
Vendetta had no idea what he was facing, and it showed.

Winner: Dragon (E)

James Casey and JD Morgan vs. Ernest Youngman and Cerberus

The two veterans took the youngsters to school. Even their teamwork was more fluid than that of their opponents, showing their greater experience in tag teams, even if not a regular team themselves. In the end, Cerberus was trapped in Morgan's Cross Atlantic Stretch, and while the bigger man wouldn't tap out, he also couldn't escape and eventually the referee called the match in favour of Casey and Morgan.

Naess:
A good effort from Youngman in trying to match up to the two technicians, but Cerberus was lost at sea here.

Braun:
We've seen a lot of big men come into this business and try and get by on their size. It doesn't work unless you learn how to use it. Cerberus hasn't – yet!

Winner: Casey and Morgan (E+)

*

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Ice.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Angelle.jpg

Simon Ice approached Commissioner Krissy Angelle backstage, demanding a match against Nelson Callum. Angelle shook him off, saying that she and Callum were busy – and that Ice was in no position to demand anything until he got some wins under his belt.

PSW National Title

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Powell.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/-vs1063b.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Callum.jpg

(2-1-2) Teddy Powell © vs. Nelson Callum (4-0-1)

Callum certainly started as the more confident of the two fighters, befitting his status as one of the men in form in PSW right now. Taking the fight outside, Callum hurled Powell into the ring barriers before flapjacking him onto the ring steps, drawing blood from the champion as Krissy Angelle cheered enthusiastically. But that only seemed to spur Powell on, and a running charge from the champion took out the crowd barrier, sending fans flying (and drawing cheers from some).

Naess:
The Blood Knights love this!

The fight found its way back into the ring, where Callum went to work on the bloody Powell, quickly turning the mat red with his blood. Powell, however, wouldn't stay down and Callum began to grow frustrated. Stomping off in annoyance, Callum found himself face to face with Johnny Martin, who was watching from the aisle. Yelling at the DaVE icon, Callum failed to see Powell approaching from behind, and had no answer to the Motion Censor. Powell covered for three, retaining his title with the help of Martin's distraction – although Powell clearly had no idea he was there.

Naess:
Tough luck for Nelson Callum. You have to keep your eyes on the prize.

Braun:
He must have thought that Powell was down for the count, but Teddy's a tough bastard.

Winner: Teddy Powell (D)

Johnny Martin and Madman Boone vs. The Deadly Alliance

The fans showed their appreciation for this wild and bloody hardcore match, with all four men breaking out weapons and Boone topping them all with a dive off the top rope to the arena floor with a barbed wire board held over his chest that wiped out all three of the other competitors.

Naess:
Johnny Martin took a big hit there – and Boone just doesn't care!

The Alliance struggled to recover from that, and even with Boone bleeding in a dozen places where the barbed wire had sliced into his chest, the crowd favourites were able to put Punisher and Wolverine down, Wolverine getting planted with a Boone and Bust to end the match.

Naess:
This is hardcore!

Winners: Martin and Boone (E+)

The Future Is Here vs. The Supreme Dream Team

The action in this match was fast and furious, contained within the four sides of the ring for the most part, although Phunk did get sent flying to the arena floor and into the announcers' table when he tried mouthing off at Parker from the ring apron.

Braun:
Phunking hell!

Naess:
You've been waiting for a chance to say that, haven't you?

All four men had chances to win, but the teams were finely matched, with both sets of competitors showing great teamwork in being alert to danger for their partners. Phunk broke an attempted Proton Lock on Black with a well placed boot to the head of Keith. Parker, in turn, took out Black with a legsweep as he was attempting a Fade To Black on Keith.

The match could have continued all night, but for the referee missing a tag between Keith and Parker. While Keith argued, Phunk snared Parker with a sudden roll-up, the quickness of the move enough to score the win.

Braun:
Time to party!

Naess:
I didn't get an invite.

Braun:
You wouldn't, Mitchy boy. I'll tell you all about it next month!

Naess:
I don't think that Parker and Keith are quite ready to let this one go...

Braun:
Well, they're not spoiling things this month – they can see if the Supreme Dream Team want a rematch at Living Dangerously!

Naess:
I wouldn't mind a bit – and judging by their reaction, neither would the Blood Knights!

Winners: The Supreme Dream Team (C-)

Overall: D+

So, four guys have won two straight (assuming you don't count the wins and losses before) Martin, Campbell, Boone and Phunk. I'm guessing one (of the two) will challenge for the National and the other goes for the Main Strap.

I'm guessing with the amount of promo time given, either Ash or Nelson is going to eventually turn as part of a split feud (which explains why they aren't listed under Philly Blondes as part of the Tag Reigns). I'm guessing Nelson turns on Ash after he wins the National Title from Powell, or possibly before.

We will get (likely) two "#1 Contenders Matches" with the four participants above competing for two title shots -- I'm guessing Boone vs. Campbell and Martin vs. Grandmaster Phunk, with Campbell and Phunk winning.

Madman Boone vs. Greg Black © – PSW Championship

Black has more upside at this point.

Teddy Powell © vs. Ash Campbell – PSW National Title

I could see a title change happening here but I still think that Powell is the safer bet.

James Casey vs. Corrosive

Not sure if Corrosive is over enough to warrant a win here but I hope he is.

JD Morgan vs. Ernest Youngman

Youngman seems to have a jobber role here and I figure that Morgan is still good enough to go over Youngman at this point.

Reckless Antix vs. The Deadly Alliance

I would believe that Deadly Alliance is higher on pecking order despite them being way past their prime.

Dragon vs. Cerberus

Dragon got a win over Vendetta so I figure that he could beat Cerberus too.

Steven Parker vs. Primal Rage

Parker has way more upside but I figure this and the next match will go 1-1 and I rate Rage a bit higher than Bolt so I go for Rage this time.

Matthew Keith vs. Dead Bolt

As I said, I rate Bolt as the lesser guy from the two while Parker and Keith are about on the same level in my books so Keith takes this one to make it 1-1.

Johnny Martin, Little Bill Lebowski and Simon Ice vs. Grandmaster Phunk, Nelson Callum and Vendetta

Martin, Phunk and Callum are the three main guys on this one in my books and with the last two being on the same team I´m going to go with them even if that team includes Vendetta as a third wheel.

Madman Boone vs. Greg Black © – PSW Championship

Boone, at this point, won't work deathmatches and he isn't Black's equal... yet.

Teddy Powell © vs. Ash Campbell – PSW National Title

There are a litany of reasons for Powell to drop the belt, but the most compelling is the potential Callum/Campbell split.

James Casey vs. Corrosive

Acid II is a "regular player" and will get the push win here -- it'll be another week before he can "cash in" the title shot anyway.

JD Morgan vs. Ernest Youngman

JD is more over, stronger and the "better man" of the two -- he'll take a thrilling matchup.

Reckless Antix vs. The Deadly Alliance

Reckless Antix seem to be here to do jobs and elevate other teams, and Deadly Alliance can sponge some skills? Pretty much the pits of the tag division here.

Dragon vs. Cerberus

Dragon pulls another win off here -- however, he needs three more as he just debuted.

Steven Parker vs. Primal Rage

Tag-Tag tends to split, and Rage is much, much more useful than Dead We--I mean Dead Bolt.

Matthew Keith vs. Dead Bolt

Splitsville here as Matty takes one from a gigantic human statue

Johnny Martin, Little Bill Lebowski and Simon Ice vs. Grandmaster Phunk, Nelson Callum and Vendetta

1) There seems to be parity in PSW. 2) Phunk winning a title shot makes no sense. 3) This match can go either way in the booking, and Lebowski and Ice can use the win more. And with that, Martin will challenge for the PSW Championship next month

Madman Boone vs. Greg Black © – PSW Championship

I feel like Madman Boone should be feuding with the upper midcarders, while Black should be feuding with a Johnny Martin type.

Teddy Powell © vs. Ash Campbell – PSW National Title

The possibilities interest me- Powell going completely unhinged, Campbell becoming even more of a ponce, Callum getting jealous; I've got no reason beyond my own interest in predicting this way, but that's good enough for me.

James Casey vs. Corrosive

This could be a really good feud, I think. Let the face get the start win, so Corrosive can go on a warpath in response.

JD Morgan vs. Ernest Youngman

Youngman isn't there yet, I don't think.

Reckless Antix vs. The Deadly Alliance

Could go either way, but Deadly Alliance seems to have a bit more upside.

Dragon vs. Cerberus

Cerberus is only really useful if you establish him as a monster who can use that Menace score. Dragon can be sacrificed in his second match towards that goal.

Steven Parker vs. Primal Rage

Just to split the singles matches between the feuding tag teams.

Matthew Keith vs. Dead Bolt

Keith is far more valuable.

Johnny Martin, Little Bill Lebowski and Simon Ice vs. Grandmaster Phunk, Nelson Callum and Vendetta

I refuse to pick a team that has Little Bill and Simon Ice on it. That said, Vendetta is worthless, and feels like he's shoehorned here just to fill out the team.

Mitch Naess and Alex Braun welcomed everyone to the show at the sold out Caesar's Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City, announcing that tonight would feature two title matches – Ash Campbell challenging Teddy Powell, and Madman Boone stepping up to face Greg Black in the first PSW Championship match of the year.

And on that note the champ himself emerged, with Grandmaster Phunk by his side. The duo stood in the ring with Black shrugging off Boone's challenge, or that of anyone else in PSW.

Black:
No-one's on my level, except for the Grandmaster. If I had to face him, I might be worried.

Black and Phunk said that Matthew Keith and Spencer Spade
could
reach their level, with time and effort, but not yet. The Supreme Dream Team proved that last month, and no-one could doubt them. The record books showed who the better team was, and that was all there was to it.

Johnny Martin, Little Bill Lebowski and Simon Ice vs. Grandmaster Phunk, Nelson Callum and Vendetta

Six men, all carrying weapons, made for a colossal mess of a match as Ice and Lebowski, in particular, seemed to struggle with the hardcore environment. Vendetta seemed more at home, but his wild swings left him open to a battering from Martin, the experienced DaVE veteran wiping the punk out. Still, his was an uphill struggle given the limitations of his teammates, and ultimately Phunk put Lebowksi down with a Phunkensteiner to give the win to his team.

Braun:
Lebowski had no idea what to do with a chair in his hands.

Naess:
He needs to learn! This is PSW; This is hardcore!

Eric Tyler walked down the aisle for the first time in several months. He announced that he'd found a new member of his School of Tradition – someone who'd been trained by one of Tyler's old associates: Corrosive!

(2-0-0) James Casey vs. Corrosive (3-0-2)

The student of Acid took the fight to the savvy veteran, moving much faster than him and forcing him onto the defensive. Casey was equal to the challenge, giving little away against the masked man, but a timely intervention by Tyler tipped the advantage in his client's favour. An Acid Rain Bomb followed shortly after to give Tyler's client a huge win in his young career.

Braun:
You can't argue with success.

Naess:
Casey might say that he was up against two men... but this is PSW, and we fight to win!

Winner: Corrosive (D)

(1-0-0) Dragon vs. Cerberus (0-0-5)

The fans had no time for Cerberus, but seemed intrigued by the enigmatic Dragon, who trapped the bigger man on the mat and nearly tore his arm out of its socket with a bridging armbar. Changing tack, Dragon went to the air with a Flying Crossbody. When Cerberus caught Dragon out of the air, Dragon neatly turned into a sunset flip to score the pin.

Braun:
Dragon is super smooth – Cerberus had no answer to that!

Winner: Dragon (E)

Nelson Callum was strutting backstage, boasting to anyone who'd listen about how he'd got another woman's phone number after his victory earlier in the night. Suddenly Simon Ice launched himself into frame, smashing Callum against a wall and putting him down. Ice demanded a match against Callum, one on one, and told him that he'd keep jumping him if he didn't agree!

(1-1-3) Steven Parker vs. Primal Rage (3-0-2)

Parker has been on a cool streak lately, with just one win in his last five matches. Rage has been much more successful, to the point that finding challengers for the tag titles is proving difficult. But without Dead Bolt to guide him, the sulky Rage is not quite so fearsome, and Parker was able to improve his stats by putting him down with a Future Shock for the win.

Winner: Steven Parker (D+)

(3-1-1) JD Morgan vs. Ernest Youngman (1-0-4)

In a singles rematch from last month's tag match, these two technicians delivered little to keep the fans interested, with loud cries of 'Boring' greeting the mat-based contest. Neither man seemed fazed, though, and they continued their match through to Morgan forcing the submission with a Cross Atlantic Stretch.

Naess:
The veteran picks up the duke!

Winner: JD Morgan (E+)

Reckless Antix vs. The Deadly Alliance

There were no weapons available in this match, which might have been expected to give an edge to the younger team. But the Deadly Alliance are double-tough old goats, and hammered Antix and Reckless without mercy, before Punisher planted Reckless with a Piledriver for the win.

Braun:
You have to hand it to the Alliance; They don't back down from a fight, even at their age.

Naess:
They're hardcore, Alex!

Winners: The Deadly Alliance (E, 1pt)

Dead Bolt marched down the aisle, one arm aloft as the fans showed him some recognition. He climbed into the ring and stood toe to toe with his opponent.

Bolt:
Matthew Keith, I owe your daddy a whipping from 1997, got me? I'll gi' it you, and you can go share it with him.

Keith wiped the saliva off his face.

Keith:
Maybe if you beat me, you can use the win bonus to fix your teeth.

Bolt grinned, showing off two rows of teak-coloured, broken teeth.

Keith:
No, you'd need to win more than just one match. Too bad...

(3-1-0) Matthew Keith vs. Dead Bolt (4-0-1)

Bolt was a-clubbering and a-slobbering, as is his way. Out to put Keith down early, he unloaded with his best offence to try and take the youngster at the bell. Keith took the blows, but wouldn't go down for the three count. He fought his way back into the match, outlasting Bolt on sheer stamina if nothing else, and secured the win with a Proton Lock that had Bolt screaming unintelligible obscenities before tapping out.

Naess:
If I were Matthew Keith, I'd get my shots now.

Winner: Matthew Keith (D)

(3-0-2) Teddy Powell vs. Ash Campbell (3-1-1)

Campbell seemed very cocky going into this match, and seemed to have an edge on Powell when he dropped the champion on his head with a brainbuster in the opening minutes. But Powell only responds one way to pain and, fired up, he kicked out even before the one count. Crashing into Campbell and sending him through the ropes, Powell scaled the turnbuckles and flew off with a moonsault that crushed Campbell against the crowd barrier. As the duo lay on the mat, recovering, Johnny Martin walked down the aisle and stood over Campbell, waiting for him to recover his wits. When he did, Campbell was quick to attack Martin, and Martin was quite happy to attack back. Powell, on recovering, saw the two of them brawling and joined in, showing no favouritism as he lashed out at both equally. Seeing no way back for the match, the referee called for the bell.

Naess:
Oh, come on, referee!

Braun:
Rematch!

Winner: No-one (D-)

(4-1-0) Madman Boone vs. Greg Black © (4-1-0)

Both men had equal records going into this match, and Boone showed no fear in facing the big league star. Quite the opposite, Boone seemed delighted to have a new opponent to attack, and showed it with a short-arm clothesline, avalanche and splash combination that left Black glassy-eyed and open to a snap suplex that earned Boone a two count.

Braun:
Boone can fight clean when it suits him. Keeping Black in the ring and away from the ropes takes away a lot of his strengths.

But Black's speed was too great to cancel out entirely. Escaping Boone's grasp, he used the ropes and turnbuckles to attack from angles, striking Boone from the side and from behind to avoid his grasp. In doing so, he kept Boone at bay, and eventually forced the opening for a Fade To Black to score the win.

Naess:
The champion retains! Who'll step up next month to challenge Greg Black?

Braun:

Winner: Greg Black (C-)

I blame Eric Tyler. "Give them six months, James," he said. "You'll see. There's real promise here. Give them six months, and then you can decide who stays, and who goes."

Six months is reasonable, I thought. Six months, six shows, by then I'll have a clear idea of who's worth keeping around.

I should have checked contract lengths before agreeing to anything. Now Vendetta's deal is up after three months, and even though I'm only extending it through 'til the six month deadline, it still smarts to have to increase his pay to keep him.

I blame Eric Tyler.
