PSW: Addicted To Pain

Recommended Posts

(3-0-2) Matthew Keith vs. (3-0-2) Steven Parker vs. Greg Black (5-0-0) © vs. Grandmaster Phunk (5-0-0) – PSW Championship

Skill wise, I could see anyone winning this one but Black is still the safe bet as I´m not sure if Keith/Parker yet have the popularity to be the main champs and Phunk winning would certainly cause a rift between him and Black and so far, I haven´t seen anything that suggest that would be happening anytime soon.

(3-0-2) Johnny Martin vs. Ash Campbell (2-1-2)

While Martin is almost certainly on time decline, I feel that he still has enough gas left into tank that he aren´t going to be jobbet out just yet

(1pt) Teddy Powell and Dragon vs. The Deadly Alliance (0pts)

Dragon seems to be on the roll and I doubt Deadly Alliance is enough to stop him or Powell for that matter.

(2-0-3) JD Morgan vs. Dead Bolt (3-0-2)

I would guess that Morgan has more upside out from these two even if you said you plan to book Bolt so that he looks strong.

(1-0-4) Simon Ice vs. Nelson Callum (2-0-3)

Surely Callum is higher on the ladders.

(3-0-2) Little Bill Lebowski vs. Cerberus (0-0-5)

Ummm.... yeah, not sure about this one..... I guess I go with Lebowski since he´s a tag champ now and could use a win or two on his own even if those wins would come against jobbers.

Reckless Antix vs. Corrosive and Ernest Youngman (1pt)

Would this alliance with Corrosive start the rise of Yougnman? I certainly think it could.

(1-0-4) James Casey vs. Primal Rage (3-0-2)

I could see this one going either way but since you said that Rage (and Bolt) are going to be booked somewhat strong and this is certainly winnable match for Rage, I go with him.

The Supreme Dream Team interrupted the introduction, but were in turn interrupted by Matthew Keith and Steven Parker, the fans popping loudly for the pair, especially Mr PSW, Steven Parker. The four men argued briefly, before Keith laid out a challenge.

Keith:
Either one of us, tonight, for the PSW Championship. We don't care who, just so long as one of us gets the chance to take you down and shut your mouth!

Phunk:
Why not both of you?

Black looked shocked, even more so than Keith and Parker.

Phunk:
Both of you, and both of us.

Parker:
We’re not after a tag match, Phunk.

Phunk:
A tag match? Phunk, no. I’m talking about a four corners match. No-one’s beat the Phunking Miracle in 2014. I deserve a title shot as much as anyone, hell,
more
than anyone!

Black raised his eyebrows at Phunk, who shrugged as the fans chanted their approval of the proposed contest.

Phunk:
Brother, I can have your back and we can put these fools down once and for all... Or if all else fails, the title stays with the Supreme Dream Team. I don’t see a way we can lose this.

Black:
Fine, but Phunk, I know you’re a gloryhound. That’s what makes you supreme, the need to be at the centre of thing. Right now, we share the centre of this company. I’m happy with that; You should be, too. Try and take centre stage by yourself-

Phunk spread his hands wide.

Phunk:
I got your back, Black.

Black didn’t look wholly convinced, but agreed to the match, and Mitch Naess and Alex Braun hyped the evening’s main event as the four men left the ring.

(1-0-4) James Casey vs. Primal Rage (3-0-2)

Primal Rage has announced on his LiveJournal that he and Dead Bolt are no longer going to be teaming up, and he started his solo career in some style, hammering Casey with a chair before putting him away with a Wake Up Call.

Naess:
Rage starts single life with a bang.

Braun:
Careful. He might write some poetry about this.

Winner: Primal Rage (E+)

Eric Tyler announced that school was in session for PSW – and that Corrosive and Ernest Youngman would be passing on what he taught them to anyone in their path. For a start, the tag team titles belonged around the waist of a real team...

Reckless Antix vs. The School Of Tradition (1pt)

With Eric Tyler on the outside, Corrosive and Youngman took control of the match early, showing impressive teamwork and listening to the Dean of Hardcore's guidance. Neither Xavier Reckless nor Antix were able to find an answer to their well-drilled offence, and Corrosive took the duke with an Acid Rain Bomb on Antix.

Naess:
We could be looking at future tag champions.

Braun:
With Tyler on side, you can count on it.

Winners: The School Of Tradition (E+, 2pts)

(3-0-2) Little Bill Lebowski vs. Cerberus (0-0-5)

Cerberus roared at the new tag team champion, who jumped and tried to run away. The bigger man tossed Lebowski easily around the ring, before charging at him in the corner. Lebowski ducked – or slumped – out of the way, and Cerberus slammed his head into the ringpost. Lebowski quickly rolled him up for three, and bolted from the ring as Cerberus roared and slammed his fists into the mat.

Naess:
A win for Lebowski – and he did it all by himself!

Braun:
Hell is freezing over!

Winner: Little Bill Lebowski (E-)

Backstage, Commissioner Angelle stood between Simon Ice and Nelson Callum, a hand on either man’s chest to keep them apart as they glared at one another.

Angelle:
One last time, gentlemen. Ice, you lose, and you walk away from Nelson and don’t try and get ‘revenge’ anymore. Nelson...

She turned to him and smiled as she traced a finger over his pectoral muscles.

Angelle:
...lose, and you never get another title shot in PSW.

Callum smirked, apparently not considering there was much chance of this.

Naess:
Ice. Callum. It’s next!

(1-0-4) Simon Ice vs. Nelson Callum (2-0-3)

Ice wasted no time in throwing himself at Callum, who fell back in retreat. Following him out of the ring, Ice ran into a clothesline that left him out on the mat. Callum took a moment to flirt with a girl at ringside, flexing his biceps for her even as the predominantly male crowd jeered him and chanted obscenities. Off her reaction, Callum sidestepped Ice's attack, sending the Englishman crashing into the guardrail. From there, Callum controlled the flow of the match, culminating in him locking Ice into the Honey Trap to force the submission, despite Ice's frantic efforts to escape.

Naess:
Callum puts down the upstart...

Braun:
...and now he's heading back out to chat up that girl. Want to bet she's Ice's girlfriend?
Was
his girlfriend, anyway...

Winner: Nelson Callum (E+)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Martin.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Boone.jpg

Callum returned to the ring, tucking a slip of paper with the girl's phone number into his trunks. He kicked Ice in the head as he tried to stand up, and laughed at the struggling Brit as Ash Campbell and Krissy Angelle joined him in the ring.

Angelle:
Put him out of his misery, Nelson. Actually, put him out of
our
misery.

Callum hooked Ice around the waist as Campbell moved into position beside him.

Naess:
Are they thinking spike piledriver?

Braun:
That could break Ice's neck – or worse!

Before the duo could complete the move, however, Johnny Martin and Madman Boone charged down the ramp, sliding into the ring and scaring Campbell and Callum away.

Braun:
Sooner or later, these four are going to have a reckoning.

Naess:
Sooner, I think – Martin and Campbell are going at it later tonight!

(2-0-3) JD Morgan vs. Dead Bolt (3-0-2)

Morgan, usually a cool and methodical customer, tried to go toe-to-toe with Bolt with weapons on hand. It didn't work too well, with Bolt being the more experienced competitor in a hardcore environment, although he still had to use a handful of tights to keep Morgan down for three.

Naess:
Bolt is pragmatic.

Braun:
Maybe – but I bet he couldn't spell it.

Winner: Dead Bolt (E)

(1pt) Teddy Powell and Dragon vs. The Deadly Alliance (0pts)

While it's not clear if Powell and Dragon are planning on becoming a long-term team, they showed considerable skill here, dismantling the more experienced Deadly Alliance pair, before Powell put Wolverine down with a Motion Censor for the pin.

Braun:
An impressive showing – no frills, just real talent on display.

Angelle:
You can tell that the fans just love it!

Winners: Powell and Dragon (D-, 2pts)

(3-0-2) Johnny Martin vs. Ash Campbell (2-1-2)

Campbell seemed cocky ahead of this match, but within minutes he was being beaten relentlessly into the mat by Martin. Although he tried to fight back, he was clotheslined to the outside, landing hard on the arena floor as Martin caught his breath. While he glared down at Campbell, someone vaulted the guardrail and caught his eye...

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Snow.jpg

...clearly startling Martin. He stared at the newcomer, who grinned broadly at him, but said nothing. With Martin distracted, Campbell re-entered the ring, jumping Martin and laying him out with Ash To Ash, before heading to the top turnbuckle and landing a Shooting Star Press to secure the win.

Naess:
Who is that? And where did he come from?

Braun:
Never mind that, Naess – we have wrestling royalty in the ring, celebrating a huge win!

Winner: Ash Campbell (D-)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Martin.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Snow.jpg

Martin was slow to recover from Campbell's attack, and only after several minutes (in which Campbell played to the disappointed fans) did he stir. As he pushed himself up on one elbow, the newcomer crouched down to look him in the eye, still grinning broadly, and winked ostentatiously at him before vaulting the barrier again and leaving through the crowd, shoving aside a fan who tried to get a picture with him.

Naess:
Uh... security?

(3-0-2) Mathew Keith vs. (3-0-2) Steven Parker vs. Greg Black (5-0-0) © vs. Grandmaster Phunk (5-0-0)

The experience of the two pairs showed as they worked together, separating their opponents to allow double teams – but, equally, the two pairs worked together to save one another from those double teams. Chances to win came few and far between, especially as Phunk stayed true to his word and protected Black even when the chance came to pin him himself.

The fight spilled out of the ring frequently, with some fans getting a close-up view as Phunk and Parker crashed through a crowd barrier and into the front row. Several fans jumped in to snap selfies with the fallen pair, or to try and help them up.

Naess:
The fans can't get enough of this!

Braun:
They want the title off Black... but he's not letting go easily!

With Phunk backing him up, defeating Black seemed quite impossible for Parker and Keith, and after a long and gruelling fight they seemed to come to the same conclusion. Ignoring Black, they turned their attention to Phunk with Parker stunning him with a dropkick, and Keith grabbing his legs and hauling him up and over the top rope. Sensing trouble, Black sprang forward and sent Parker tumbling through the ropes with a dropkick between the shoulderblades. Before he could turn his attention to Keith, though, the second-generation star snared him and forced him to the mat, turning him over into the Proton Lock.

Braun:
No-one's broken this hold – not in two generations!

Naess:
Black's stuck in the centre of the ring! This is over! This is-

From nowhere a large figure in a red, hooded, tracksuit lunged across the ring, nearly breaking Keith in two with a pump kick. The Proton Lock broken, the newcomer hauled Black up off the mat and into a vertical suplex... only to drop him forward onto Keith.

Naess:
No!

Braun:
Yes!

The referee dropped to the mat and counted three times with the newcomer standing over him to ensure the count went through. Only then, as the bell rang, did they pull back their hood.

Naess:
It's...

Braun:
I get the feeling that the Supreme Dream Team has grown...

Retro beamed as he helped Black to his feet, holding him upright as the referee handed Black the PSW Championship.

Naess:
It was hard enough taking the title from Black when he had Phunk onside. Now he has Retro, too?

Parked crawled into the ring, struggling to reach Keith. All he got for his troubles was a boot to the ribs from Retro, who laughed as Parker rolled out of the ring again.

Phunk:
Phunk... yeah!

Grandmaster Phunk made his way into the ring, limping slightly. Retro welcomed him with open arms, pulling him into an embrace with Black.

Phunk:
We are the Supreme Dream Team, dominating the landscape of professional wrestling in true supreme fashion...

Black:
...and just when you think you have all the answers, we went and changed the questions.

Retro smirked as he took the microphone.

Retro:
Woooo! You see us here, the limousine-ridin', jet-flyin’, kiss-stealin', wheelin’-dealin' sons of guns! We are the best of the best, the biggest, the quickest, the meanest competitors that there ever was. And you can love it, or you can hate it, but you've got to learn to live with it, because this! Is! Supreme!

Post Show Notes

Canning Vendetta hasn't magically led to an improvement in match ratings.

Morgan/Bolt benefited from pretty good chemistry. It might otherwise have been our worst ever match. Instead that honour goes to LBL beating Cerberus. As I haven’t run 100 matches yet, that’s easy enough to check.

So... Robbie Retro. Not the most obvious signing for PSW, but he left the SWF in May for reasons unknown. A big man, Robbie adds to the Supreme Dream Team stable (which, now it has three members, I've officially added to the game).

There's one more signing, a partner for Dragon, who'll debut next month, but they're on a written contract so haven't left their current employer yet.

For what it's worth, Steve Flash and Brent Hill are both unemployed. I'm trying to be good, but boy is it difficult. Either of those pair – or both! – in a veterans stable with Morgan and 'me' would be quite something. (Just after I wrote this, I advanced and got a message to say that Flash has retired. I still may bring him in as a road agent). Helen Earth has replaced Hill as head trainer of the TCW training school which is, well, not exactly a like for like replacement.

MAW ran the Sam Keith Classic opposite this show. In a not-exactly-shocking turn of events, Jean Cattley and KC Glenn won the titles. Great match (C+), too.

We came 2nd in the Tri-State regional battle, behind PWC again (3rd month in a row) but ahead of NYCW (2nd month in a row). PWC had a marginally better show; Both us and them got a C- off C main events. I suspect that PWC's semi-main (Donnie J over Nelson Callum, C-) carried the day for them.

After the turn of the year I may look at adding a second, shorter, show to accelerate our popularity game. We're breaking even, more or less, right now and a short show with 3 or 4 matches should get us moving along at a decent rate – we're at a D- in Tri-State, so pretty much any half-decent show will boost us. Suggestions for show names (this would just be a recurring monthly show) are welcome.

I’ll aim to update the WDL records on the front page a little more often if I ever catch up to the show buffer, but as of right now:

Madman Boone WLWWW

Matthew Keith WLWWL

It's a possibility. I think the show is more likely to be 'on tour' in the Tri-State area, so a more general name might be better. I quite like Massacre, though...

For the record, Phoenix is another masked competitor who I hope will be part of a regular tandem with Dragon, although that depends on them having at least neutral chemistry. Positive chemistry would be nice (and is the reason Corrosive and Youngman are teaming, incidentally).

The freshly expanded Supreme Dream Team stood in the centre of the ring before the sold-out St. Lawrence Centre Arena, wide smiles on their faces. They bragged about putting down Matthew Keith and Steven Parker last month.

Retro:
I don't know if you people know this, but I'm kind of a big deal-

Crowd: Disco balls! Disco balls!

Annoyed at the chant, Retro stopped talking. Before he could continue, Madman Boone marched down the aisle, the fans cheering loudly for the veteran extremist, one of whom got a fistbump for his 'Bad To The Boone' sign before Boone entered the ring.

Boone:
Yeah, mainly I think you're not broken in here yet, hairdo. But I'm not here for you. Not yet. I want to break your boss.

Retro:
'Boss'?

Boone pointed at Black, who rubbed one hand over the faceplate of the title belt around his waist.

Boone:
See, you've had that belt, and there's people here who think you're good for it.

Boone gestured vaguely at the fans.

Boone:
They like the flippy, hoppy stuff, but they like the hard stuff better... And I reckon I can do hard better than you. Now, I've had some good results lately. I figure I'm due a shot. Want to argue?

Black:
The rules are the rules. You've got wins, you get in the ring, we'll see if the flippy, hoppy stuff is as good as the hard stuff.

He smirked.

Black:
Eighteen months I've held this title, and so far the flippy, hoppy stuff has been good enough. You might even say that it's been... supreme.

Dragon and Phoenix vs. The Deadly Alliance

The masked duo took the fight straight to their opponents, showing impressive talent with Phoenix the faster, Dragon the more technically sound of the pair. The PSW crowd have certainly taken to the duo, with several fans holding up signs with 'Enter The Dragon' on, and a group of six holding up a cluster of signs reading 'We Must Stop The Deadly Alliance!'

Despite the support for the masked pair, the Alliance had some success due to their greater strength and size, and in a mildly impressive move caught Phoenix with can only be described as a spike suplex, with Punisher leaping off the second rope for added momentum.

Fans: Move of the year! Move of the year!

Even facing that level of innovation, however, the stocky masked men proved themselves able to counter, if not match, the power of the veteran duo, and eventually Dragon laid out Punisher with a Ninja Strike to take the win.

Naess:
A debut victory for Dragon and Phoenix.

Braun:
Who
are
those masked men?

Winners: Dragon and Phoenix (C-, 1pt)

(1-0-4) Xavier Reckless vs. Jerry Snow (0-0-0)

Braun:
Wait, so this is the guy who distracted Johnny Martin last month? What’s his deal?

Reckless seemed to come at Snow with a new attitude. Seemingly inspired by Madman Boone's words earlier in the night, he ditched the fist-first, punch-flinging approach he's usually taken in the past and simply hurled himself at the debuting competitor. However, Snow may have been the worst person to try that on; New in PSW, he had no reason to suspect Reckless of any other sort of approach, and was wholly unfazed by Reckless' antics, taking control of the match before putting him down with a Discus Punch.

Naess:
Reckless by name, reckless by nature.

Crowd: Let it Snow!

Winner: Jerry Snow (E-)

Jerry Snow stood in the middle of the ring, mic in hand. He beamed, bouncing on his toes.

Jerry:
Johnny... Johnny Martin... Time to come out and plaaaaaaaaay...

The DaVE icon appeared at the top of the ramp, but appeared conflicted about approaching the ring. Before he could make up his mind, Nelson Callum and Ash Campbell jumped him from behind, beating him down, the fans baying for blood, before Callum locked in the Honey Trap as Campbell got down on the ground and taunted him.

Jerry:
Oh, sorry, old man... Maybe next month me and you can get together and chat about old times.

Cerberus simply had no reply to Powell's onslaught of offence, unable even to use his size and speed to his advantage as Powell gave him no chance, before putting him down for three with a Motion Censor.

Naess:
The National Champion is dominant again.

Braun:
And against Cerberus, it's not easy.

Winner: Teddy Powell (E)

After his victory, Powell snatched a microphone. Demanding a more challenging opponent, he promised to put his National title on the line next month against whoever stepped up to challenge him.

Martin & Lebowski vs. Ash Campbell and Nelson Callum

Although the tag titles weren't on the line, the champions fought like they were, laying a beating on Campbell and keeping him away from his corner. But Lebowski is – in Alex Braun's words – being carried by Johnny Martin, and fell for one of the oldest tricks in the book when Krissy Angelle feigned an injury on the outside, letting Callum tag in and lock him in the Honey Trap for the submission win, as the fans let him know what they thought of his being tricked.

Fans: You’re a dumbass! You’re a dumbass!

Naess:
The new champions are given a rough start.

Braun:
Campbell and Callum have been around the block as a team; The champions are going to take a while to find their groove – if they're given the chance!

Angelle and Callum made out in the centre of the ring before leaving. Callum stopped next to a young woman and held out his hand, pulling her out of the crowd and leaving her boyfriend behind as he and Angelle wrapped their arms around her. Another member of the crowd held up a sign behind the abandoned man: 'Callum Stole His Girlfriend'.

Naess:
Callum and Angelle... a match made in sin.

Braun:
Jealous, Naess?

Winners: Campbell and Callum (D-)

Before the next match, Dead Bolt marched down the aisle with a microphone in his hand.

Naess:
That’s never a good sign.

Braun:
Can you transmit diseases by microphone? If you can, then it’s not safe to sit near a speaker when Bolt is speaking.

Bolt climbed through the ropes and stared down Simon Ice.

Bolt:
Ye’re pathetic, boy. Ye’ve let Callum n’at get to you, and now you’re nothing but broken.

He grinned, revealing two rows of broken, teak-coloured teeth.

Bolt:
Just the way I like it.

He booted Ice in the gut, and smashed his head into the mat.

Braun:
Well, there’s the bell!

(1-0-4) Simon Ice vs. Dead Bolt (3-0-2)

Ice has had his ups and downs lately, but this match was all down – knocked down, dragged down, clotheslined down, punched down and eventually Yankee Slammed down for three.

Crowd: Bolt! Bolt! Bolt!

Naess:
Ice looks pretty forlorn.

Braun:
No girl, no win, and no chance of scraping Bolt's stink off him before the weekend is out. You’d be pretty damned miserable too.

Winner: Dead Bolt (E)

James Casey and JD Morgan vs. The School Of Tradition (2pts)

Pitted against two wily veterans, the new team looked remarkably composed – insofar as it's possible to say such a thing of a masked man and the poker faced Youngman. Still, they met Casey and Morgan on their own terms, fighting on the mat before stepping up the pace a notch, Corrosive going to the air to punctuate the school's offence. Still, the veterans fought back, having seen most things in their time, and Morgan in particular seemed unperturbed by events, up to and including Corrosive getting a roll-up on Casey with his feet on the ropes to pick up the win.

Naess:
Eric Tyler looks pretty pleased with himself.

Braun:
Class is in session... and the Dean of Hardcore has got a promising crop of students.

Winners: The School Of Tradition (D, 3pts)

(1-0-4) Antix vs. Primal Rage (3-0-2)

Antix threw everything he had at Primal Rage, who this evening was sporting a dark red t-shirt proclaiming that Love Is A Lie. 'Everything' included himself, which simply wasn't a good idea as Rage snatched him out of the air and spiked him, headfirst, into the mat.

Crowd: Rage! Rage! Rage!

Antix was left insensible, and the referee had no choice but to call for the bell.

Naess:
It's not often that we see that.

Braun:
Rage could have broken Antix' neck, and you know he'd have just used it as some kind of basis for his godawful poetry.

Fans: One more time! One more time!

Winner: Primal Rage (E-)

(3-0-1) Madman Boone vs. Greg Black (5-0-0) ©

Boone's tactics were simple; Hit hard, hit fast, hit often. Black's tactics were, apparently, to absorb as much punishment as he could in a short time – at least, that's what ended up happening. The champion had little offence in the opening minutes, but showed real resilience in avoiding defeat.

Crowd: Boone or bust! Boone or bust!

Boone, stymied, was forced to up his game. Seemingly responding to the crowd, he was attempting more and more risky moves, willingly, but not without cost; Soon enough he missed a dive off the ring apron that saw him crash ribs-first into the crowd barrier, drawing a cry of pain from the normally impervious Madman.

Naess:
This could be Black's chance!

Taking control of the match, Black stayed on the offence, working over all of Boone's injuries, with particular attention to the injured ribs, before winding up a Fade To Black to pick up the victory.

Naess:
Black came through in the end.

Braun:
I think he played the odds; A little rope-a-dope from the champion, and if you're gonna try it on someone, Boone's always a willing dope.

Black left the ring and smirked at a fan's sign that read 'Black Wins! LOL!'

Braun:
He does – and he's going to keep on doing it.

Winner: Greg Black (C-)

Hardcore Match

The Future Is Here vs. Grandmaster Phunk and Robbie Retro

Crowd: Disco sucks! Disco sucks!

Retro flipped off the fans as he walked down the aisle, Phunk clapping him on the shoulders to provide support. What followed was a wild, bloody, weaponised tag match between four men who've come to hate each other – indeed Retro seemed to hate Parker and Keith even more than Phunk, given the level of force being dealt out on his chairshots.

Naess:
This is hardcore!

Braun:
I've not seen hits that hard since, well...

Naess:
Yes?

Braun:
...damn it, this is nearly blasphemy, but the kid reminds me of Nemesis the way he hits!

Even so, it wasn't enough – not on its own. Keith and Parker, streaked with their own blood and that of their opponents, wouldn't stay down, no matter what Phunk and Retro laid on them. However, Greg Black made his way to the ring and got involved, waffling Parker with a chair when he ran the ropes. The unexpected blow did the job, leaving Parker vulnerable to a huge swing of the chair from Retro, and as Phunk and Black swarmed Keith and held him back, Retro made the pin.

Naess:
Damn it, this is a gang beating!

Braun:
That it is, Mitch, that it is! I'd go so far as to say that it's a
supreme
gang beating!

Winners: Phunk and Retro ©

With Parker and Keith laid out once more, the Supreme Dream Team trio stood over them, Black with his title held aloft, Phunk and Retro playing to the crowd.

Crowd: Supreme Sucks!

Crowd: Supreme Blows!

Naess:
How much more of this can PSW take? Are we going to be held hostage to these three for ever?

Braun:
There are worse things than giving in to class, Mitch.

Naess:
It's not hardcore!

Just finished getting caught up on The Lloyd's CGC/NOTBPW "Invasion" diary and found myself binge-eating my way through this right afterward.

Super cool stuff, JC. I've always wanted to do something where wins and losses mattered more than they do in real life. Finding a balance between doing that and having a promotion that's still about storytelling and not raw statistics is a tough go.

Kudos, sir. Looking forward to more.

OOC: Thanks NoNeck, I appreciate it. Some of the storylines are in-game, some just come from stuff that happens. Making the wins and losses count is something I've been using in my private game, and I thought it'd be interesting to try in a diary. What I'm finding interesting is that it reflects card position fairly accurately - midcarders tend to have 2/3 wins in 5, the main event have very few losses by and large... Obvious enough, I guess, but still interesting to see in practice.

(2-0-3) Matthew Keith vs. Grandmaster Phunk (4-0-1)

With Black holding the title, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Phunk to have a title shot-- and with this win, Keith has just enough to take the reigns.

(2-0-3) Steven Parker vs. The Wolverine (0-0-5)

Squash.

(3-0-2) Madman Boone vs. Jerry Snow (1-0-0)

Boone is far more over than Snow

(1-0-0) Phoenix vs. Dead Bolt (4-0-1)

Bolt is too bad to get any more wins.

(0-0-5) James Casey vs. The Punisher (1-0-4)

Casey gets the needed bump here over one half the alliance.

(4-0-1) Little Bill Lebowski vs. Greg Black (5-0-0) – non-title

JD Morgan, Xavier Reckless and Simon Ice vs. The School Of Tradition and Cerberus

"Stable" + 1 over "not stable"

(1-0-4) Antix vs. Robbie Retro (1-0-0)

Squash.

Johnny Martin vs. Ash Campbell and Nelson Callum

Two-vs.-One exists to put the one over, and I'm guessing this is the start of a turn.

(5-0-0) Teddy Powell © vs. Primal Rage (4-0-1) – PSW National Title

I... don't think he'll drop it here.

(2-0-3) Matthew Keith vs. Grandmaster Phunk (4-0-1)

I could see this one going other way as well, but even if I´m still unsure about Keith´s current popularity I think that he needs to get wins against Supreme Dream Team and Phunk is probably the least important member of that group and thus likely occasional fall guy even if he´ still one of the top guys in PSW.

(2-0-3) Steven Parker vs. The Wolverine (0-0-5)

Wolverine´s record tells everything about his role here while Parker is feuding with the main heel group.

(3-0-2) Madman Boone vs. Jerry Snow (1-0-0)

Jerry likely don´t have the popularity yet to go over.

(1-0-0) Phoenix vs. Dead Bolt (4-0-1)

Face challengers for the main belt are needed and Phoenix could be one of those guys, at least if we look how his tag partner has done well so far.

(0-0-5) James Casey vs. The Punisher (1-0-4)

This is between two veterans who´s main job is to make other´s look good but I figure Casey is bit more important, in not for anythign else than him being the player character and thus obviously staying in the company while Punisher could well be on his way out once his current contract ends.

(4-0-1) Little Bill Lebowski vs. Greg Black (5-0-0) – non-title

Surely Black is way too big obstacle for Lebowski, even if it is non-title match.

JD Morgan, Xavier Reckless and Simon Ice vs. The School Of Tradition and Cerberus

Cerberus being on the heel team made me doubt this pick a little but with Morgan being the only face who I could really see winning matches (and even he haven´t done that a whole lot) I still go with School.

(1-0-4) Antix vs. Robbie Retro (1-0-0)

Squash.

Johnny Martin vs. Ash Campbell and Nelson Callum

I could see this one being the typical win against odds match but I figure that Martin has to be on time decline and this looks likely match for him to bleed bit of his popularity to talented younger guys while still being able to look quite strong by almost getting the win despite the man advantage the heels have.

(5-0-0) Teddy Powell © vs. Primal Rage (4-0-1) – PSW National Title

Surely keeping Rage strong doesn´t involve giving him a midcard singles belt? ....Unless you just want Powell to drop the belt in order to go and chase the main belt which is possible... but I still think that there has to be better options than Rage who he could drop the belt.

Normally a hardcore environment would favour the bigger man, but the National champion is a law unto himself in PSW, hurling himself around the ring and the ringside arena. Rage, resplendent in a t-shirt displaying a set of vampire teeth, was able to draw blood from the champion, but that only seemed to spur Powell on as he launched himself off the top rope, crashing with both knees into Rage's forehead before flattening him with the Motion Censor for the win.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Martin dominated the early exchanges in this match, his greater experience showing as he flicked from one opponent to the other, kicking and punching the pair and eventually clotheslining Campbell over the top rope to the outside.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

But the numbers game told, and Campbell found that being on the outside helped his team, as he was free to trip and attack Martin whenever his back was turned, leaving him open to Callum's attacks in turn. The pincer tactics worked, with Callum levelling Martin with his own Twist On The Rocks, before Campbell punctuated the beating with a Shooting Star Press for the win.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After Retro's convincing display, the fans showed little interest in this contest even with weapons aplenty on show. Ice and Cerberus seemingly particularly rattled as what little interest seemed to be directed at them, and it wasn't positive. Ice was the ultimate victim, getting caught by Youngman with The Hit to put an end to the contest.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The fans interest grew for this match, even if few seemed to believe that Lebowski could upend the PSW Champion, non-title or otherwise. Still, he gave it the old school try, peppering Black with punches and even pulling out a suplex that seemed to surprise Black more than hurt him. Stung into action, Black shed any hint of complacency to go to town on Lebowski, finally putting him down with a Fade To Black.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Phoenix seemed to take especial offence to Bolt's leering, halitosis-ridden pre-match staredown, jump-starting the match with an elbow smash that scored two off the bell. Bolt roared back with wild brawling, hurling his smaller opponent around the ring with wild abandon, but as often as not Phoenix seemed to find a way to land on his feet and counter-attack with a speed that Bolt could never quite seem to cope with, and ultimately the unruly brawler was laid out with a Ninja Strike.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Backstage, Teddy Powell tracked down Commissioner Angelle and barged into her office, catching her looking at what appeared to be a nude selfie of Nelson Callum. She quickly closed her laptop as Powell demanded a stronger challenger for the next show. Angelle nodded along, and agreed to booking the match; Powell would have the best challenger she could find, from within PSW... Or wherever else she might look. As Powell turned to leave, Angelle's expression turned sour as she glared at his back.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Jerry Snow seemed disappointed that he wasn't facing Johnny Martin, but at least he had Martin's long-time ally across the ring from him. Perhaps Parker had something on his mind, but the opening minutes of this match belonged to the Wolverine as his aggressive brawling allowed him to dominate the smaller man. Parker is resilient, though, and fired back with pace and mat-based attacks, an approach that neutralised Wolverine's strengths, and left him open to a Future Shock to give Parker the win.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Keith was out to prove that he could compete with the Supreme Dream Team, Phunk to show that they stood a class apart. Keith seemed to have an answer to everything that Phunk threw at him, but it took him time to take the advantage back from Phunk, who showed a rare level of intensity in battling the second-generation star. In the end, Greg Black appeared at ringside and took a swing at Keith with the PSW title, only for Keith to duck aside and the blow to clip Phunk's knee. Keith pounced, locking Phunk in the Proton Lock, and before Black had the chance to recover, Phunk had to tap to save his injured knee.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">I watched the PSW fans – the Blood Knights – walk out of the arena. After a great show, they’re buzzing, eager to get online and boast about the great matches they’ve seen, the amount of risks taken, the volume of blood spilled and how much of it went on their shirts...</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Some of that is hyperbole. Everyone wants to have been ‘there’ when ‘it’ happened, the moment when a career turns, or when the storyline that defines a company kicks off. By shouting louder and more expressively than anyone else, the hardcore fans can claim an exclusivity that the passing fan just doesn’t have. I understand that, I do, and I wouldn’t change anything about our fans... Well, maybe the name Mitch gave them, and how far they’ve run with it. They’re a vocal lot, and something tells me that even if we get bigger, they’ll still be there, determined to be the most hardcore of the hardcore.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

And yet... Tonight they wandered out, their minds clearly elsewhere. A few were on their phones, but at least one was checking the football scores rather than tweeting about the show they’d just seen.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

I couldn’t blame them. The show had been... there. Phoenix had dragged a phenomenal match out of Dead Bolt, which had lead to me praising Bolt for probably the first and only time in our working career. Keith, Parker and the Supreme Dream Team had delivered a typically good promo. Black and Lebowski had exceeded expectations, more or less, although more so because my high expectations for Black had been heavily tempered by my low expectations for Little Bill... one of our tag champions.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The rest of the show was, more or less, an off-night for all involved. Matthew Keith and Grandmaster Phunk had flopped in the main event, considering the talent of those involved, and considering that Phunk had blown the PWC fans away against Remmy Skye in their last main event. Was the PWC booker sandbagging it for their rival? Was Matthew Keith less talented than Remmy Skye? Or was it just because our backstage environment is a sinkhole of morale?</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cerberus walks around with a face like thunder because he was sold on wrestling as a can't miss prospect... and he's missing. Badly. Recently he and Matthew Keith, who </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>really</em></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> can't miss, have developed a beef. Then you have Little Bill Lebowski, who's 40 years old and still playing the same underdog character he was when he was 20. It's not that it's not an effective gimmick, it's just that he's never developed enough as a worker to play anything else.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Xavier Reckless, now... You'd think, having finally got picked up by a name company, that he'd be a happier and more positive influence backstage. No, he walks around with a face like a slapped arse, which is worse than a face like thunder because his attitude stinks like an arse, too.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

And then you have Punisher and Primal Rage, notionally two of our most experienced veterans. Punisher has let the fame of his best-selling book go to his head and barely engages with the 'plebeians' backstage. On his agent's advice he dropped the 'Idaho' from his name after his book hit the best-sellers list to broaden his appeal. Honestly, I think it hurt it – he lost some of the connection with his readers after that, and the late career stardom he seemed to anticipate never arrived. Now he's just a writer whose one hit is receding into the distance, and who has no idea how to conjure another, so he still wrestles... Kind of.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As for Primal Rage... He really is sulky, he really does wear a lot of black, he really does mope in corners when he's not in the ring. The clichéd Goth gimmick was an easy one for PSW to stick him with, and not a stretch for him to play, but he really is a downer backstage.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Five men who, between them, contribute the square root of bugger all to our shows while actively sapping the motivation of their fellow roster members. Only Rage has any sort of potential, and even then just because he's a fair brawler and big man in a company where being both automatically boosts you to midcard. Still, he's forty-four. Lebowski is forty and Punisher is forty-seven. Cerberus and Xavier are both under thirty, but probably the least talented two from the five.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dump them all, reap the backstage benefits, replace them with superior workers with better attitudes, reap the backstage and in-ring benefits. It's an easy win... which is why I can't do it. Not yet. I gave my word for six months, and I'm determined to make it to twelve before I can anyone for being rubbish. Call it stubborn pride, call it painful stupidity, call it blind optimism that I can make something from anyone... They get a year to show me there's something worth sticking with.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

One sign - I blame Eric Tyler. Can be used when The School of Tradition loses/cheats to victory. :p

<p>Matthew Keith, Steven Parker and ??? vs. <strong>Greg Black, Grandmaster Phunk and Robbie Retro</strong></p><p>

<em>I think that the more logical way would be putting faces over here but unless the mystery guy is really big name, I´m still not sure if Keith and Parker has enough popularity to go over all three of the Supreme Dream Team (even if Keith just did go over Phunk) so I decided to "play safe" and go with the trio who still likely has bit more popularity.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>(5-0-0) Teddy Powell ©</strong> vs. ??? – PSW National Title</p><p>

<em>Part of me thinks that it´s time for Powell to drop the National belt and go chase the main belt, mainly because I don´t see that many good options as challengers behind Keith or Parker (of couse, I´m making a quite big assumtion here that neither one of them won´t win the belt). That said, I´m not big fan of giving a new guy instant title reign (even though it could be the right choise on certain situations) and if Powell would lose his belt to someone, wouldn´t he go against that guy again considering that he´s looking for a challenge so that might not be the most effective way to put him into main event scene (if that is even on the plans). So, I go with Powell winning here and possible dropping the belt in angle in order to gain a title shot against Black. </em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Johnny Martin, Madman Boone and Little Bill Lebowski </strong>vs. Ash Campbell, Nelson Callum and Jerry Snow</p><p>

<em>Martin and Boone are still likely to be the two most over guys here and that would be enough for me to go with them even with Lebowski as the third wheel.</em></p><p> </p><p>

(0-0-5) Simon Ice vs. <strong>Primal Rage (3-0-2)</strong></p><p>

<em>Ice looks the lights once again.</em></p><p> </p><p>

(1pt) Dragon & Phoenix vs. <strong>The School Of Tradition (3pts)</strong></p><p>

<em>I do think that Dragon & Phoenix are bit higher on pecking order but you need heel challengers for that belts and that´s why I go with School instead.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>(0-0-5) JD Morgan</strong> vs. Cerberus (1-0-4)</p><p>

<em>Morgan gets a rare victory.</em></p><p> </p><p>

(1-0-4) James Casey vs. <strong>Dead Bolt (3-0-2)</strong></p><p>

<em>I kind of want to go with Casey here but he´s role seems to be midcard jobber one and Bolt has certainly been getting more wins lately.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Reckless Antix vs. <strong>The Deadly Alliance</strong></p><p>

<em>Bit of a coin flip to me but I figure Deadly Alliance has bit more value mainly because of their longer career should give them bit more name value and that would make anyone beating them a bit bigger deal than beating Reckless Antix. </em></p>
