The 5 Rules of PSW

1. Any competitor may challenge for either singles title if they have a record of 3 wins in their last 5 matches, and won their last match

2. Any team or pair of individuals may challenge for the tag team title if they have won their last 3 matches together as a team. A winning streak of 5 or more matches allows them to name the match stipulation.

3. Matches may only end through pinfall, submission, knockout or referee's decision. A strike to the opponent's groin will result in the attacker forfeiting the match by referee's decision.

4. The use of weapons is permitted only in designated hardcore matches. The use of the ringside area – ring apron, steps, guard rail – as stationary objects does not count as weapon use.

5. In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Commissioner is final.

Schedule

January: Guilty As Charged

Feburary: Crossing The Line

March: Living Dangerously

April: Backlash

May: Hardcore Heaven

June: Hardcore Hell

July: Heatwave

August: Breaking Point

September: Unforgiven

October: No Mercy

November: Screw The Mainstream

December: The Final Countdown

Active Roster

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Acid.jpg

Acid – DaVE icon, allied with DaVE icon Eric Tyler to train and educate the next generation of hardcore.

Record: 1-0-0

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Antix.jpg

Antix – Stand up for yourself, hold your ground against dicks, throw down beside your friends, they've got your back like Antix!

Record: 0-0-5

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Campbell.jpg

Ash Campbell – Did you know that he's DaVE icon Nemesis' son? If not, he may mention it – and in his opinion, it makes Ash Campbell wrestling royalty.

Record: 5-0-0

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Basilisk.jpg

Basilisk – Newcomer to PSW, eager to prove himself in America after learning from some of the best in Japan.

Record: 0-0-0

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Cerberus.jpg

Cerberus – *Snort*

Record: 0-0-5

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Corrosive.jpg

Corrosive – Little is known of the masked man known as Corrosive, save that he was trained by DaVE star Acid, and uses a similarly aggressive, high-impact style.

Record: 4-0-1

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Dragon.jpg

Dragon – Mysterious masked man wearing a grey bodysuit. Allied with Basilisk and Phoenix for reasons yet to be made clear.

Record: 5-0-0

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Bolt.jpg

Dead Bolt – Didya hear the one about the punk who tried to put one over on ol' Deady? Go ask the coroner, he'll tell ya all about it.

Record: 1-0-4

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Youngman.jpg

Ernest Youngman – He calls himself the "Assassin of the Squared Circle". Big words.
Big
words.

Record: 4-0-1

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Phunk.jpg

Grandmaster Phunk – Y'all know the Phunkmaster, y'all know what you get – the hard hitting, fast moving, heart breaking, ground shaking,
master of disaster
, phunk yeah!

Record: 2-0-3

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Black.jpg

Greg Black – Did well in New York. Thinks he could have done better. Breaks the bones of doubters.

Record: 3-0-2

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Casey.jpg

James Casey – A new face but an old one, with DaVE experience. Has a mind to show that the old ways can still cut it.

Record: 2-0-3

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Morgan10704.jpg

JD Morgan – Former PSW and tag champion, DaVE veteran Morgan is still capable of kicking arse and taking names. A man of few words, Morgan prefers screams – other peoples'.

Record: 2-0-3

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Snow.jpg

Jerry Snow – Has issues with Johnny Martin. Also apparently unhinged, and that’s before he starts getting hit in the face with steel chairs.

Record: 3-0-2

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Martin.jpg

Johnny Martin – Always ready to fight for what's right, DaVE legend Martin prefers to jump in fist first and ask questions later. Maybe if he stopped to think he might be more effective, but who can say for sure?

Record: 2-0-3

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Lebowski.jpg

Little Bill Lebowksi – He tries.

Record: 1-0-4

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Boone.jpg

Madman Boone – Someone, somewhere, will discover a risk that Boone hasn't taken. Then Boone will take it anyway.

Record: 2-0-3

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Keith.jpg

Matthew Keith – He's Straight Edge, and he's better than you. You might never hear him say it, but you can pretty much hear him think it, right the way through 'til he makes you tap out.

Record: 3-0-2

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Callum.jpg

Nelson Callum – The Perfect Male Specimen, Ravishing, Stunning, and any other nickname he can think of, Callum particularly enjoys beating opponents and sleeping with their girlfriends in whichever order is convenient.

Record: 4-0-1

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Rage.jpg

Primal Rage – He thinks everything sucks and that black is slimming.

(Record: 3-0-2)

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Ice.jpg

Simon Ice – Happy to dive off a balcony to win a match, apparently, but has never been given the chance to show it. Really hates Nelson Callum; Four of his girlfriends have slept with the Perfect Male Specimen. So far.

Record: 2-0-3

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Parker.jpg

Steven Parker – Mister PSW, Parker has been with the company since day one. Is always rumoured to be leaving, but so far he's stayed hardcore.

Record: 3-0-2

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Powell.jpg

Teddy Powell – Something went wrong in Teddy's head when DaVE died, and now no-one quite knows what he'll do next – maybe not even Teddy himself. That may explain the colouring of his beard and hair.

Record: 3-0-2

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Punisher.jpg

The Punisher – Now he's got Idaho out of his system, Punisher is happy just to beat on anyone and everyone, so long as the money's good enough. Has a standing contract with the Wolverine, if nothing better comes along.

Record: 2-0-3

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Wolverine.jpg

The Wolverine – The DaVE veteran is still hardcore, and still happy to show the young kids how to dish it out and how to clean blood out of your bootlaces afterwards.

Record: 2-0-3

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Reckless.jpg

Xavier Reckless – From the streets, or at least from someone's backyard. Throws fists, kicks, headbutts; Should try learning how to make them hurt and not just rely on Antix to keep him in one piece.

Record: 0-0-5

(All records are in W-D-L format, and are correct as of 1st January 2015)

Non-competitors

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Braun.jpg

Alex Braun – The Ice Man cometh, or speaketh, anyway. This DaVE veteran knows hardcore, and can describe in graphic detail just how a barbed wire baseball bat to the face feels.

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Tyler.jpg

Eric Tyler – The Machiavelli of Hardcore, the Don of DaVE, the Traditionalist... Eric Tyler has had many names, but right now opponents of his clients would do well to call him
Mr
Tyler.

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Angelle.jpg

Krissy Angelle – The Woman, as she is known in the PSW locker room, keeps order by making sure that the alternative is unthinkable. A spine of steel wrapped in red silk, rumour has it that the best performers can expect a very desirable bonus each month. Has an understanding with Nelson Callum, although what they understand may not be what anyone else understands.

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Naess.jpg

Mitch Naess – The voice of DaVE keeps the Blood Knights in touch with PSW goings-on in the ring, and on his regular podcasts. All together now: "This is hardcore!"

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Kiss.jpg

Nicole Kiss – Kiss has seen the inside of a lot of locker rooms, and has a funny knack of getting alongside some of the best talent in the business. Right now, she's helping Steven Parker in his career.

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Stones.jpg

R.M. Stones – PSW's head official and fan of superfluous punctuation. Made his name in DaVE, and takes no guff in the ring.

PSW Alumni

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Vendetta.jpg

Vendetta – Screw you. Screw
all
of you.

An unexpected choice of promotion JC but it's always nice to see a distinguished writer like yourself do something different each time instead of sticking to what you've done in the past.

The Future Is Here vs. Dead Rage – non-title

Non-title win here, mainly because TFIH are just too good to be slumming it with Dead Rage.

Antix vs. Greg Black – non-title

Haha. Hahaha. No chance for Antix here.

Johnny Martin vs. Corrosive

Shenanigans at play!

Madman Boone vs. Ernest Youngman

This is Boone's house, he's not losing to someone like Ernest just yet.

James Casey vs. Cerberus vs. Vendetta

Useless talent count: 2.

Simon Ice vs. Grandmaster Phunk

Liked the little bit about Simon Ice hating Nelson Callum.

Little Bill Lebowski vs. Ash Campbell

Future of hardcore and the son of Nemesis wins here.

Teddy Powell and JD Morgan vs. The Deadly Alliance

Xavier Reckless vs. Nelson Callum

Nelson wins, proceeds to steal Simon Ice's girlfriend.

Thanks, guys. PSW has always intrigued me, and as it's a 90% match environment, it suits me more than the SWF, I think.

I've had a long weekend, so I've set up the game and am running the first few shows now. Not too many surprises - Matthew Keith and Greg Black get snapped up by Burning Hammer for tours, so I'll need to watch out for that. So far I'm at the end of February and no-one's been outright stolen yet.

The intent is to keep the shows short and sweet. Probably no matches that run more than a few paragraphs, let alone pages; The intent is for the shows to be as different from my SWF dynasty as PSW is from the 'F itself.

I'm not too familiar with PSW, but I'll make some guesses anyway.

The Future Is Here vs. Dead Rage – non-title

Steven Parker and Matthew Keith are only in their 20s but already two of your finest talents by leaps and bounds.

Antix vs. Greg Black – non-title

Greg Black is great, Antix is a jobber.

Johnny Martin vs. Corrosive

I suspect that this will turn into a Johnny Martin vs Acid feud.

Madman Boone vs. Ernest Youngman

Give one up for the ol' Booner

James Casey vs. Cerberus vs. Vendetta

I don't know how good your avatar is, but I do know the guys he's in here with are pretty bad.

Simon Ice vs. Grandmaster Phunk

Simon Ice has an awesome picture, but that's about it when it comes to his selling points.

Little Bill Lebowski vs. Ash Campbell

Little Bill isn't even a full breakfast for Ash.

Teddy Powell and JD Morgan vs. The Deadly Alliance

It's hard for me to pick against a real team, even if Powell & Morgan are more talented.

Xavier Reckless vs. Nelson Callum

2 Draws for Xavier? What kind of wacky matches is PSW putting on where people keep getting draws?

Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling presents: Guilty As Charged

Friday, 26th January 2014

Your announcers:

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Naess.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Braun.jpg

Mitch Naess – Alex Braun

Mitch Naess and Alex Braun wish everyone a happy and hardcore new year as they welcome us to the sold out Davis Gym in Lewisburg. Tonight's show promises to be a hot one coming off last month's Final Countdown!

Mitch:
And we're starting hot with Johnny Martin against the masked man, Corrosive, who's coming off the back of a big win last month against the thrill-seeking Simon Ice.

Alex:
That's right, Mitch, and lots of people are saying that 2014 could be the breakout year for Corrosive – that's how impressive he was last month!

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Martin.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/-vs1063b.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Corrosive.jpg

(4-1-0) Johnny Martin vs. Corrosive (3-0-2)

Corrosive fights like his life depends on it, clawing and scratching against the bigger and stronger Martin. Going to the air kept the veteran at bay for a time, but Martin has fought some of the best aerialists around, and endured to land a Twist On The Rocks for the win.

Mitch:
Johnny Martin is in rich form right now. Surely a title shot must be in his future?

Winner: Johnny Martin (D-)

*

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Boone.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/-vs1063b.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Youngman.jpg

(3-1-1) Madman Boone vs. Ernest Youngman (1-0-4)

As in the opening match, Boone hammered away at his younger opponent. Youngman tried to take the fight to the mat, but Boone kept clubbing away, putting Youngman down with a Boone And Bust.

Alex:
Boone's just a nightmare to fight. He has such little regard for his own body!

Winner: Madman Boone (D)

*

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Ice.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Angelle.jpg

Backstage, and Simon Ice asked Krissy Angelle for a match against Nelson Callum. Angelle said no, that Ice had lost to Callum four times already, and she was still fielding the calls from Ice's ex-girlfriends, all looking for another night with Callum. She wasn't prepared to add another name to the list. Frustrated, Ice stalked off.

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Ice.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/-vs1063b.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Phunk.jpg

(0-0-5) Simon Ice vs. Grandmaster Phunk (3-1-1)

His mind clearly on other things, Ice put up little resistance to the Grandmaster, eventually getting crushed by a Phunkensteiner.

Mitch:
The fans don't seem to care for Simon Ice.

Alex:
Hard to care for someone who keeps throwing himself at an opponent he can't beat.

Winner: Grandmaster Phunk (D-)

*

(0-0-0) James Casey vs. Cerberus (1-0-4) vs. Vendetta (0-0-5)

The veteran Casey, who spent some time in DaVE, showed that guile and experience can still make a difference, playing the two youngsters against one another before making Vendetta submit to a Texas Cloverleaf.

Mitch:
The fans seem to buy into the new guy.

Alex:
He's got skills, and the fans appreciate that.

Winner: James Casey (E)

*

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Lebowski.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/-vs1063b.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Campbell.jpg

(2-0-3) Little Bill Lebowski vs. Ash Campbell (2-1-2)

Bill tries, he really does, and there were times that he seemed to have Campbell in trouble. But Campbell has had training from some of the best, and eased to victory with a handful of tights.

Alex:
It's not cheating if you don't get caught.

Mitch:
Cheating to beat Lebowski is like cheating a six year old at happy families.

Winner: Ash Campbell (E+)

*

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Reckless.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/-vs1063b.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Callum.jpg

(0-2-3) Xavier Reckless vs. Nelson Callum (3-0-2)

Reckless threw some martial arts moves at Callum, but the Perfect Male Specimen shrugged off the attacks and laid came back at Reckless, before snaring him in the Honey Trap.

Mitch:
Here at ringside Krissy Angelle looks pleased.

Alex:
So does that woman in the crowd. Is she giving Callum her hotel key?

Mitch:
Reckless looks even more bummed than when he got beat. That must be his girlfriend.

Alex:
How
does
Callum do it?

Winner: Nelson Callum (D-)

*

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Campbell.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Callum.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Angelle.jpg

Ash Campbell joined Nelson Callum in the ring, and the two boasted about their victories. They tossed some barbs in the direction of Madman Boone and Johnny Martin, pointing out that the future of PSW wasn't going to be a couple of fossils from the DaVE era.

Hardcore Match

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Powell.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Morgan10704.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/-vs1063b.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Wolverine.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Punisher.jpg

Teddy Powell and JD Morgan vs. The Deadly Alliance

Powell and Morgan were a little overwhelmed by the solid teamwork of the veteran pair, and Powell's forehead was split open and gushing blood after just a few minutes. That seemed to only inspire him, though, and he threw everything he had at Punisher and Wolverine. With Morgan at his back, Powell tore into their opponents, launching himself over the top rope and flattening both with a huge tope, before dragging Punisher back into the ring and laying him out with a Motion Censor.

Mitch:
The National champion is in great form!

Alex:
That he is – and he needs to be, considering I hear that Grandmaster Phunk may have his eye on the title!

Winners: Powell and Morgan (E+)

*

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Antix.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/-vs1063b.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Black.jpg

(1-0-4) Antix vs. Greg Black (3-1-1)

Antix doesn't qualify for a title shot, so no gold on the line here, not that it especially mattered. Antix put up a good showing and got some shots in, but Black always seemed to have another gear to move into, and eventually dropped Antix with a Fade To Black for the win.

Mitch:
Our champion is confident, and rightly so!

Alex:
A great match, and all credit to Antix, but he needs to find something else if he wants that title anytime soon.

Winner: Greg Black (D+)

*

http://tew2016.com/images/images/Black.jpghttp://tew2016.com/images/images/Phunk.jpg

Grandmaster Phunk sauntered down the aisle to celebrate with his friend, the pair looking smug about their victories. Their celebration was cut short by Matthew Keith and Steven Parker, who pointed out that they still had a match tonight... so get out of their ring!

Hardcore Match

The Future Is Here vs. Dead Rage

Up against the two largest men on the roster, the young duo used speed to their advantage. Bolt tried to rile up his partner, and smirked through broken teeth at the sight of Rage absolutely flattening Parker with a huge bodyslam, before hurling him to the outside. Neither Keith nor his partner was able to stand up to the tag champions outside the ring, with Bolt and Rage going after them with steel chairs.

But Keith and Parker have fought strength and weaponry before, and know how to deal with it. Striking hard and fast, they began to wear down the big men, relieving them of there weapons and using them against them, before eventually Parker caught Rage with the Future Shock for the win.

Mitch:
Parker and Keith make a big statement!

Alex:
Indeed they do; These guys want to take the next step up, and beating the tag champions sends a clear signal to the rest of the company of their intentions.

Winners: The Future Is Here (D-)

Overall: D

Post Show Notes

Wow, the fans hate Ice, Vendetta and Cerberus. As I write this, Vendetta's contract just came up for renewal, the first member of the PSW roster to do so. Given that Ice and Cerberus are big enough projects as it is, is Vendetta worth spending time on, given I'll only be running 1 or 2 shows a month? Your thoughts, please – and also on any possible replacement, given I'd like to keep the roster balanced at 12 faces and heels.

I've run a couple of test games with PSW just to get a feel for what works and what doesn't, but I've not gone too far ahead as I didn't want to get too invested in any of the games. That being said, I should really know not to put Dead Rage in any main events.

Phunk, Black, Keith, Parker... Chances are I need at least one of them in the main event on a regular basis. Johnny Martin might be able to find something left in the tank, too.

The tag champs, Primal Rage, have no team chemistry. As though the PSW tag division didn't already suck.

I've signed one new face to balance out the roster (it starts at 10 faces/12 heels in the 2014 data, which I think was different in the default 2013 data). They'll debut next month in the midcard, and I don't necessarily expect them to push on much from there.

I'm experimenting with the show layout, amount of detail and so on. With a small roster, it's easier to develop characters with a few words. Hopefully.

Daily updates won't be the norm, but I'm curious about Vendetta. I may just re-sign him for a few months and see how things go.

Thanks for the predictions from everyone. Hopefully we can all learn a bit more about PSW (I've deliberately avoided other PSW diaries on here for obvious reasons).

Oh sweet! As a reader of the SWF Trilogy, I'll obviously be following along here...

Glad to have you on board!

James Casey vs. Cerberus vs. Vendetta

I don't know how good your avatar is, but I do know the guys he's in here with are pretty bad.

Xavier Reckless vs. Nelson Callum

2 Draws for Xavier? What kind of wacky matches is PSW putting on where people keep getting draws?

'James Casey' is a 45 year old who's going nowhere near the main event, but has comparable Performance stats to a Steve Flash or Enforcer Roberts. I am/he is there to teach... although if I give in to temptation and put the tag belts on me and JD Morgan, it's only because PSW has a terrible tag division. Honest.

As for the draws... They'll pop up occasionally, but there's a reason behind there being so many in the preceding months which we may or may not get to, depending on how much backstory I decide to give the dynasty. It may be fun to do an essentially in-camera diary for once! :D

Vendetta was really bad in my PSW game, regularly part of the worst matches on the show. I gave him an extension when his contract came up but he didn't seem to improve so he left after about 9 months. Sayeed Ali has always done well for me and developed really well in my game.

Liked the show, some enjoyable characters coming through already.

James Casey coming down to PSW is something I've never quite gotten behind. To me, the SWF is your magnum opus, much like TCW is Phantom Stranger's or USPW is angeldelayette, etc...

But I'm interested to see how you take this going forward. Regarding Vendetta, he's shit and always will be unless SWF signs him for a developmental run. The Alis (Frantic & Sayeed) are both quite great, and Jerry Martin is a fair good hand as a fake nephew to Johnny. Besides them, Dazzling Dave Diamond can hold a place in the mid-card for a couple of years. Don't play too much 2014 myself.

My quick thoughts.

Vendetta should be gone, unless you want to use him for the crazy bumps. Cerberus is more useful. The A*/100 menace is extremely valuable.

Casey and Morgan would be a good team, maybe called The Old Guard.

If you need a babyface, I would hire Deaf Touch. Using his deafness as a characteristic trait and, maybe helped by a manager like Dharma Gregg, could be interesting. Hiring Dharma could also ignite a feud between her and Krissy Angelle, probably the two Babes of Sin City biggest stars.

Take advantage of the agreement with FCW. Plenty of options, especially for your team titles scene.

Welcome back!

I've played ~8 years of PSW with the Stennick's 08 mod. I had a lot of luck with Gram Gorman, he's willing to work hardcore/death matches and has a good gas tank. Fro Sure (in general) is awesome for a hardcore fed in particular, and is a guy you can build your promotion around.

I'd bring in Hard-1 and Mobstar to "train guys" in Hardcore Skills -- Ash Campbell can be trained up to a hardcore/deathmatch worker (I don't think he's still willing to work them, Steven Parker could work Deathmatches in '08 but won't in '14) with a a bit of work.

Oh, and create-your-own match with High/Very High Content Risk and Low/Medium/High injury risk so you can still get the bonus without using a death match.

I wouldn't say Vendetta is really worth it. He has a pretty dire attitude. You could always pick up Jerry Martin as a better replacement.

Martin's a great shout. I've been meaning to sign him in some form for years now.

Sayeed Ali has always done well for me and developed really well in my game.

Ali's also a good call, and near the top of my shortlist.

By the end of SWF I was so completely burned out it's not even funny. Running PSW is like having a zesty sorbet after a main course of suet and lard :D

DDD is an intriguing call.

Good point, and not something I used in my test games.

Step 1, day 1 :) In both my test games I forgot to do this, and my first show tanked. Not that show one here excelled, but it went better than previously.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've looked at all of them, and now have a decent list while trying to avoid the usual Hernandez/Speed/Shark hires as we already have Keith, Parker and Black on board. Vendetta is unlikely to be around long-term, but I'm keeping him for a few more months.
