PSW: Addicted To Pain

Recommended Posts

(3-1-1) Matthew Keith vs. Gregory Black © (5-0-0) – PSW Championship

Keith likely won´t yet have enough popularity to be your main champ so I would give this one to Black.

Steven Parker and Johnny Martin vs. Grandmaster Phunk and Ash Campbell

Could go either way but since I expect Black to win, I guess it would make more sense to go with faces here.

(3-1-1) Teddy Powell © vs. Nelson Callum (4-0-1) – PSW National Title

Callum could get the belt here but I still think that Powell is the safer bet.

(2-0-0) Dragon vs. Corrosive (4-0-1)

First bigger test to Dragon and one I think he´s going to fail.

JD Morgan and James Casey vs. Dead Rage – non-title

setting up future title match perhaps?

Little Bill Lebowski and Reckless Antix vs. Cerberus, Ernest Youngman and Vendetta

Youngman is the only guy I care on this one.

(3-1-1) Madman Boone vs. The Wolverine (2-0-3)

Wolverine is more likely to get his win in tag matches so I would give this one to Boone.

(0-0-5) Simon Ice vs. The Punisher (2-0-3)

Ice needs to get few wins before I starting to take him seriously.

Little Bill Lebowski and Reckless Antix vs. Cerberus, Ernest Youngman and Vendetta

In a fight showcasing six up and coming young members of the PSW roster, the less experienced trio put up a fair showing, in spite of the crowd clearly favouring the Underdog and Reckless Antix. Antix took advantage of Cerberus press-slamming Lebowski to catch Vendetta with a Murder On The Dancefloor for the win.

Naess:
Did Lebowski just win a match?

Braun:
Only by association.

Winners: Lebowski and Reckless Antix (E)

Matthew Keith came down to the ring and called out Greg Black, pointing out that he was in a position to challenge for the PSW Championship, and wanted a match tonight!

Black came out and agreed to the match, pointing out that Keith and Steven Parker hadn't been too much of a challenge two months ago, not for the Big League Star!

Hardcore Match

(3-1-1) Madman Boone vs. The Wolverine (2-0-3)

Weapons at the ready for these two DaVE veterans as they attacked one another with dustbins, chairs and kendo sticks, before Boone delivered a Boone And Bust through a table to put Wolverine down for three.

Braun:
They've not lost a step!

Naess:
This is hardcore!

Winner: Madman Boone (D-)

Before Boone could celebrate his win he was jumped from behind by Ash Campbell and Nelson Callum, who quickly beat him to the mat. Callum took a moment to drop to the arena floor and flirt with a pretty girl in the front row, which meant that his attention was elsewhere as Johnny Martin charged down the aisle, swinging a kendo stick and getting some shots in on Callum, before chasing him and Campbell away.

Naess:
It seems like Campbell and Callum want to escalate matters.

Braun:
They could probably have picked better people to screw with.

(0-0-5) Simon Ice vs. The Punisher (2-0-3)

Ice didn't have much chance to start with, but Punisher seemed to take particular delight in embarrassing the young Ice, eventually planting him with a Piledriver for the win as the PSW fans chanted along with the referee’s three count.

Naess:
The fans appreciate the hardcore veteran!

Braun:
A damn sight more than they do the Brit.

Winner: Simon Ice (E)

Commissioner Krissy Angelle stood in the ring with Primal Rage, the tag team champions sporting their titles around their waists. Angelle announced that she was looking for challengers for the champions, and wanted the company's teams to step up – or she'd have to try and find other challengers to take their place. Dead Bolt beamed at the idea of new challengers, showing off his cracked, yellowing teeth. Primal Rage, wearing a black shirt that proclaimed 'All Life Is Pain' just glowered from beneath his black hair and black face paint at Angelle, Bolt, the crowd, the world, the universe...

James Casey and JD Morgan vs. Dead Rage

This was a pretty even contest between these four experienced workers, with guile and precision on one side, and brute force and viciousness on the other. There wasn't much to choose between the two side but, although hardly orthodox, the teamwork of the champions gave them a slight edge, and allowed them to pick up the win when Dead Bolt laid out Casey with Last Rites.

Naess:
Looks like there may be some new challengers coming to PSW!

Winners: Dead Rage (D-)

Eric Tyler called Dragon to the ring, and said that he didn't appreciate anyone else trying to steal Corrosive's thunder. While Dragon stared at Tyler in apparent confusion, Corrosive attacked from behind, laying Dragon out in the middle of the ring.

(2-0-0) Dragon vs. Corrosive (4-0-1)

The masked duo lit into one another, Dragon disadvantaged but eager for revenge, while Corrosive was out to show he could continue his rise up the rankings in PSW. With Eric Tyler calling shots from outside, Corrosive seemed to have the edge, but almost from nowhere Dragon dropped him with a Ninja Strike to score the pin.

Naess:
Incredible impact on that blow from Dragon!

Braun:
That's right, Mitch. Corrosive was stopped cold. With a strike like that, Dragon could be capable of stopping
anyone
.

Winner: Dragon (D)

(3-1-1) Teddy Powell vs. Nelson Callum (4-0-1)

The National champion wasted no time in going after Callum, who's starting to be a thorn in his side. Pursuing him around the ring, Powell was only stopped when Callum raked his eyes. The challenger had a chance to gain the advantage and took it, clotheslining Powell to the outside. The two brawled around the ring, but Callum kept landing big shots on the disoriented Powell – until Johnny Martin walked down the aisle once more. Distracted, Callum turned away from Powell, only to be laid out with a Motion Censor on the arena floor as Martin watched on. Callum was busted open, drawing one of the biggest cheers of the night from the crowd, and in no position to defend himself. While Krissy Angelle went ballistic at the sight of her client’s spoiled features, Powell rolled Callum back into the ring and made the cover for the win.

Naess:
You reap what you sow, always, and right now Callum's got an angry Johnny Martin to deal with.

Winner: Teddy Powell (D)

As Callum struggled to make his way backstage, Simon Ice vaulted the crowd barrier and laid him out with a dropkick, before dropping to his knees and punching Callum in the face several times. Only the arrival of security separated the two, with Ice demanding a match with Callum as he was dragged away.

Johnny Martin and Steven Parker vs. Grandmaster Phunk and Ash Campbell

The two rivalries spilled over into this match, which didn't result in much teamwork on either side, but did make for a lively contest that had the fans cheering. Generally, the competitors paired off with their rivals, but at times they mixed things up, and during one of those times Ash Campbell spotted an opening, making use of an unsighted R.M. Stones to catch Martin with a boot between the legs. As Campbell turned back to Steven Parker, the Grandmaster laid out Martin with a Phunkensteiner to score the pin.

Naess:
A cheap win for Campbell and Phunk.

Braun:
Cheap, but phunking brilliant work by Campbell, Mitch.

Winners: Phunk and Campbell (D+)

(3-1-1) Matthew Keith vs. Greg Black © (5-0-0)

With the title on the line, these two young stars put on a thrilling match that went back and forth and showed off the incredible talent both men possess. With so much at stake, neither man held anything back over the course of the match, although the same stakes seemed to weigh heavy in the early going as both men started conservatively. But the pace picked up as the match went on, and Black in particular moved so fast the announcers struggled to keep up.

Fans: This is awesome! This is awesome!

Naess:
You heard the Blood Knights! They can appreciate great wrestling when they see it!

In any match between two such evenly-matched competitors it will often be a single little thing that tips the balance, and so it proved here with Keith falling victim to a Fade To Black, but the real difference maker being the tight grip on the middle rope that Black had as he rolled Keith up for three.

Braun:
Don't say it, Mitch – the title was on the line, and you have to do whatever's necessary to keep it.

Naess:
I can't pretend I'm delighted with the finish... but what a match!

Winner: Greg Black ©

Overall: C-

I've got a feeling that Dragon is going to turn out to be PSW's Kid Arachnid.

Either that, or he'll be my Canadian Elemental.

I don't know whether I'll ever reveal who's under the mask. They're a solid hand - the match ratings probably give that away - but I don't expect them to become such a big name that unmasking them would be a big thing. I'm not rulling it out, though.

(It's not Jay Chord, for what it's worth).

Also, found this when someone made a Jack Marlowe quip, figured you'd remember and enjoy it JC. I feel old now. :(

That's a blast from the past. Six years since the last 'is this dead?' post, even...

I wonder how many people have played PSW, even started PSW diaries, without being aware of McShamrock's work? A big part of my wanting to keep a small roster was to try and develop individual characters the way he did. We'll see how that goes.

I thought that Mitch Naess was taking a big chance in 2007 when he opened PSW while the corpse of DaVE was still cooling. My buying into the company in order to stop it going under by year's end was a decent indicator that things weren't working.

Apparently not everyone got the memo.

Alex Braun, our colour commentator and DaVE veteran, took it upon himself to open the Phoenix Wrestling Company. The implications are clear, given that the company will be operating out of Philadelphia – not even Mitch dared to do that.

Does Alex think that my investment in PSW means that the good times are about to roll again for hardcore? Is he planning on leaving PSW or – and in some ways this would be worse – are we going to be expected to be the 'big brother'? It would have been nice to have spoken to Alex before he launched the new company, but he didn’t do me the courtesy of approaching me.

PWC have already contacted a number of workers on the PSW roster to offer them roster spots – Grandmaster Phunk has even been offered the booker's post. I don't have an issue with that exactly but, again, Alex didn't talk to me first. They've also approached workers on our shortlist for when we're looking to replace workers, which would make us look like the followers if we were to bring them in.

I have a feeling this may end badly. More exposure for our workers isn't bad in itself, but they could be tainted by a poorly-run PWC, and given the similar names, styles and locations, people will expect us to help them out. In reality, it may be a cruel kindness required of us to put them out of business. If they depend too much on PSW talent, pulling them from their shows might be enough, if things start to go badly, to ensure they don't make too much noise as they collapse.

I have to think like this, now. PSW has its niche, and suddenly PWC is trying to occupy it as well. The really bad news would be if they somehow managed to outperform us; Alex Braun knows who can work and who can’t on the PSW roster, and the names he’s contacted from outside of the Tri-State area suggests that PWC are going to be a workrate-heavy company. It’s not outside the realm of possibilities that we could be shown up by our ‘little brother’.

I blame Eric Tyler.

James Casey and JD Morgan vs. The Supreme Dream Team

Dream Team are just stronger unit.

Sweet 'n' Sour vs. Dead Rage © – PSW Tag Team Titles

Sweet 'n' Sour are Signh and Jameson, right? In which case I could see them getting belts if you signed them to contract instead of just loaning them. Then again, even if you signed them, it´s bit doubful if you would instantly want to put belts on them so I figure that Rage is still the safe bet so I go with them

Reckless Antix vs. Johnny Martin and Little Bill Lebowski (2pts) vs. The Deadly Alliance

While Martin is the top guy here, I would think that he has better things to do than drag Lebowski to a title match so I go with Deadly Alliance instead.

(4-0-1) Madman Boone vs. Ash Campbell (4-1-0)

Boone should still be the more over one and thus more likely to go over.

(2-0-3) Steven Parker vs. Vendetta (0-0-5)

No way Parker would lose to Vendetta.

Teddy Powell and Dragon vs. Corrosive and Ernest Youngman

Youngman is still the weak link on this one.

Not much question on this one.

Commissioner Krissy Angelle was joined in the ring by two unfamiliar faces whom she introduced as the Sensational Singh and Kirk Jameson, the tag team champions in FCW! Sweet N Sour, as they are known, were Angelle's choice to bring some extra competition to the company's tag team division, and tonight they'd be facing Dead Rage in a hardcore match!

Reckless Antix vs. Johnny Martin and Little Bill Lebowski (2pts) vs. The Deadly Alliance

Martin and Lebowski may not be a regular team, but they've won their last two matches as partners. Martin let his partner do much of the work, observing from the ring apron as the other five men unloaded on one another, helping Lebowski as needed. In the end he entered the fray, dumping Antix over the top rope before laying out Xavier Reckless with a Twist On The Rocks to score the pin.

Naess:
Martin and Lebowski win – and they could challenge for the tag team titles now!

Braun:
Maybe that's what the tag division needed?

Winner: Martin and Lebowski (E+, 3pts)

(2-0-3) Steven Parker vs. Vendetta (0-0-5)

For Parker, a relatively straightforward match in which he unloaded on the punk, before putting him away with a Future Shock.

Braun:
A very popular win for Steven Parker.

Naess:
They call him Mr PSW, and the fans can't get enough of him!

Winner: Steven Parker (D-)

Hardcore Match

(4-0-1) Madman Boone vs. Ash Campbell (4-1-0)

Perhaps unwisely, Campbell and Nelson Callum have been antagonising Madman Boone lately. It came back to haunt him here, as Boone blitzed Campbell from the off, including a huge flying tackle on the outside that smashed through the crowd barrier and sent the fans running.

Naess:
This is hardcore!

Campbell didn't seem able to gain any traction against the rampaging Madman, and in the end resorted to a kick to the crotch to slow him down. Referee Stones, spotting the offence, called for the bell and awarded the match to Boone.

Naess:
For his pains, Boone comes out with the win.

Braun:
Yeah, but I don't think Campbell's done...

Winner: Madman Boone (D-)

Campbell lashed out at the wounded Boone, taking advantage of his weakened state to lay him out with Ash To Ash. Nelson Callum joined him, and the two levelled Boone with a double powerbomb. As they stood over Boone, Simon Ice ran down the ramp and slid into the ring, kendo stick in hand.

Ice:
Enough is enough, Callum. Quit ducking me, and give me a match!

Callum shrugged.

Callum:
Sure.

Ice looked surprised.

Ice:
What? Really?

Callum:
No.

Campbell attacked Ice from behind, laying him out with a shot from a steel chair that drew cheers from the crowd. Callum then locked Ice in the Honey Trap, warning him against further attempts to get revenge.

Teddy Powell and Dragon vs. Corrosive and Ernest Youngman

While no-one can say for sure how long Dragon has been wrestling, the signs are that he's an experienced fighter. The edge seemed to be with Powell and his partner, therefore, but Corrosive and Youngman put up an impressively resilient display, possibly helped by the presence of Eric Tyler at ringside. Even so, the night belonged to Powell and Drago, with the National champion taking down Youngman with a Motion Censor, but clearly the match was closer than they'd expected.

Naess:
Another great showing from Corrosive, and Youngman's impressed tonight as well!

Winners: Powell and Dragon (D)

(2-1-2) Matthew Keith vs. Cerberus (0-0-5)

Keith made short work of Cerberus, dispatching him in short order with a Neutron Plex.

Braun:
I'm not even sure Cerberus was really trying there...

Winner: Matthew Keith (D-)

After the bell, Cerberus sprang from the mat and wiped out Keith from behind. Roaring loudly, he dragged Keith off the mat and planted him with a chokeslam, before pressing him overhead and pitching him out of the ring and onto the arena floor.

Fans:
Holy shit! Holy shit!

Braun:
That's a fifteen feet drop!

As Cerberus bellowed in the ring, pounding his chest, Greg Black and Grandmaster Phunk emerged at the top of the ramp. Laughing, they warned Keith against trying to come after them again. Only a world of pain lay ahead of them, whether because of what they'd do to him, or because as big league stars, they could always hire someone else to do the work on their behalf.

Sweet N Sour vs. Dead Rage ©

Two experienced duos contested this match, and the edge in teamwork seemed to favour the guests, with Rage and Bolt saving each other from pins but otherwise working alone. Still, the hardcore environment favoured the defending champions, and thus after a barrage of shots from a kendo stick, Rage cracked Singh over the head with a trashcan, before Bolt crushed him with Last Rites for the pin.

Winners: Dead Rage (E+)

James Casey and JD Morgan vs. The Supreme Dream Team

Looking full of themselves, the self-proclaimed big league stars started the match like a house afire, dominating both with speed and innovativeness. The veterans' fundamental soundness and technical skill allowed them to recover some ground, and Morgan nearly forced the tap with a Cross Atlantic Stretch on Phunk, but Black made the save with a flying splash, and a stunned Morgan fell victim to the Big League Play, putting him down for the count.

Naess:
Maybe the Supreme Dream Team are as good as they say?

Braun:
How can you even doubt a word that comes out of their mouths, Mitch?

Winners: The Supreme Dream Team (C-)

Overall: D+

Mitch Naess – Alex Braun

Mitch Naess and Alex Braun welcomed everyone to the show, hyping up the rumoured title match between Dead Rage and their challengers, Johnny Martin and Little Bill Lebowski.

Naess:
That will be an awesome match!

Braun:
But with Lebowski on the team, is there any chance for the challengers?

Reckless Antix vs. Corrosive and Ernest Youngman

With Eric Tyler on the outside making suggestions, Corrosive and Youngman tore into Reckless Antix, cutting them apart and stopping them from using their greater experience, before Corrosive put Reckless down with an Acid Rain Bomb.

Naess:
What a performance from this pair!

Braun:
Eric Tyler looks like he's found a diamond in the rough.

Winners: Corrosive and Youngman (E+)

(4-0-0) Dragon vs. The Punisher (2-0-3)

In this environment it seemed that Punisher ought to have had the advantage. However, Dragon showed impressive resilience, even managing to bloody the veteran competitor with a chairshot. In the end, the masked man laid Punisher out with a Ninja Strike to pick up the win.

Braun:
Five wins on the bounce – how long until Dragon demands a title shot?

Backstage, Simon Ice ambushed Nelson Callum, sending him flying into a pile of shipping pallets. He followed up with a slam onto the pallets, before setting up a ladder for a dive onto Callum, only for a crowd of fellow wrestlers to charge between them, forcing Ice to back down.

Ice:
Give me a match, Callum! I can keep this up forever!

Matthew Keith, Steven Parker, Teddy Powell and Simon Ice vs. Ash Campbell, Nelson Callum, Cerberus and Vendetta

This match was thrown together hastily by Commissioner Angelle to try and take the edge off Ice's hatred of Callum. It didn't seem to do much good, with Callum avoiding being tagged into the match as Ice seethed.

Naess:
Sooner or later, he has to face Ice!

Braun:
On his terms, Mitch, on his terms.

Eventually Ice boiled over and vaulted into the ring, nearly decapitating Vendetta with a leaping leg lariat. He lunged at Callum, who dropped from the ring apron and walked off. Vendetta, struggling to get up, was the unfortunate soul to bear the brunt of Ice's fury as he was planted into the mat with a Black Ice Driver.

Naess:
Ice wins it for his side... but still no satisfaction!

Winners: Keith, Parker, Powell and Ice (D)

(4-0-1) Madman Boone vs. The Wolverine (1-0-4)

Completely opposite records for these two hardcore veterans, but there was little to choose between them as they threw everything at one another. Boone was the more reckless, but Wolverine has had plenty of experience dealing with particular brand of lunacy, and got plenty of his own shots in. Boone, however, was not to be denied, and after a fierce and bloody battle, he felled Wolverine with a Boone And Bust for the win.

This is hardcore!

Three of these competitors were perfectly at home in this hardcore environment. Lebowski... Not so much. Still, he proved useful in teeing Rage and Bolt up, letting Martin blast them as they chased him. Rage, sporting a t-shirt declaring that Hell Is Other People, took a chair shot directly to the face that split him open, soon rendering his shirt illegible.

The PSW fans delivered a booming response to the blood spilled, cheering Martin on as he stood in the centre of the ring, teeing off on Rage and Bolt whenever they came within range, until eventually he was able to blast Primal Rage with a Twist On The Rocks for the pin – and the titles!

Naess:
This is hardcore!

Braun:
The veteran really shows how it's done!

Winners: Martin and Lebowski (E+)

(2-0-3) James Casey vs. Grandmaster Phunk (5-0-0)

With the crowd still buzzing from the first title change of 2014, these two took it on themselves to turn attention onto themselves with some big moves and near falls. They brawled briefly outside of the ring, but Casey was clearly more at home between the ropes and tried to keep the fight there. Phunk wasn't fazed by Casey’s efforts and bided his time, eventually catching the veteran performer with a Phunkensteiner for the win.

Naess:
The big league star scores the big win!

Braun:
And how long until he decides to step up and challenge for gold?

Winner: Grandmaster Phunk (D+)

(3-0-2) JD Morgan vs. Greg Black (5-0-0)

The well-travelled veteran wasn't in the least bit bothered by the attempts on Black's part to outpace him, stoically defending his position and time and again trapping Black on the mat, looking for the Cross Atlantic Stretch. But the nimble PSW champion kept twisting free, and eventually broke through Morgan's defences, putting him down with a Fade To Black for the win.

Braun:
Black dispatches another challenger.

Naess:
Whether the title's on the line or nor, Black's looking impossible to beat!

Winner: Greg Black (C-)

His victory secure, Black stood over Morgan with the title held aloft. As Morgan tried to get up, Black kicked him hard in the face.

Naess:
This is uncalled for!

Black followed Morgan around the ring, kicking him repeatedly. With Morgan unable to defend himself, James Casey charged down to the ring, but Grandmaster Phunk was hot on his tail, and the Supreme Dream Team soon had the veterans both laid out on the mat.

But their moment of triumph was soon spoiled as Matthew Keith and Steven Parker approached the ring, Keith with a baseball bat in hand, Parker toting a steel chair. Sliding into the ring, they stared down Black and Phunk, who seemed to be ready to fight... but who backed away rather than engage.

Naess:
Black and Phunk are despicable human beings.

Braun:
They're the best around, Naess. What gives you the right to tell them how to live their lives?

Naess:
Nothing – but I think that Parker and Keith have something they want to say about it, hopefully next month!

Overall: D+

Six months in, and it's time to review. Let's start with the simple things: Vendetta is gone. He leaves with a light heart on our part, donating any shred of overness he may have to Simon Ice, in what is surely one of the few times Ice will pick up a win in PSW until he steps up his game.

But to put a spoke in the wheel, our plans to bring in the Cali Dragons later in the year just got spiked; Frankie Perez and Mikey James have had a falling out, so I'm not even sure about booking them as opponents, let alone team-mates. We've got feelers out to a couple of others who might be interested – one of whom is a big enough name that they'll make quite a splash if they sign on, in fact.

But how did I end up here, worrying about – and having the final say in – this sort of thing? A little over six months ago I came here to talk about sponsorship. The idea was to pay PSW a couple of grand a show to put my company's logo on the crowd barriers. Mitch Naess was delighted with the idea, and went off to run the contracts with PSW's legal section. That, as far as I was concerned, was that – former wrestler-done-good giving a little something back to the business.

While Mitch was busy, Eric Tyler cornered me. I'd worked with Eric, briefly, in DaVE, I'd been brought in to because I was rich, well spoken and an experienced hand with the SWF –
personifying
Richard Eisen's company was enough for the storyline Phil Vibert had booked.

Eric talked to me about the need to support the indies, to push for improvements for even the poorest workers, because
you never knew
– never knew who'd get the call next. That's why the small companies exist, nowadays. Sending a James Prudence or a Huey Cannonball off to the SWF or TCW is a sign that a company is doing the right things. Do it often enough, and the company starts to generate its own cachet as a future home of champions. CZCW has that reputation, MAW is getting there, and Eric thought that PSW could get there, too.

I tried to argue, tried to point out that any company paying Dead Bolt $700 a show wasn't planning for the future, but Eric pushed the idea that PSW could really contribute, not just be a hardcore knockoff of DaVE that relied on blood and guts to bring in the 'Blood Knights'.

The idea took root, and a few weeks later I was shaking hands with Mitch in the PSW locker room, wary applause from the roster members who were wondering who I was, what my agenda was, how to keep on my good side if I was the one calling the shots...

They needn't have worried. Their place was secure, for six months at least. Eric had made me agree to a six month moratorium on departures to let me understand where the 'real talent' in PSW was.

Six months in, and I understood. Keith, Parker, Black and Phunk were too good for this company, and we were already booking around Japanese commitments for at least two of them most months. Dragon, an old friend of mine, was too good as well, and their renewed profile had recently led one of the smaller Japanese feds to make contact (they'd also started getting some action since arriving in PSW, but that's nothing to do with me).

As for the rest... Dead Bolt and Primal Rage had been tag champions three times over the last five years without having any chemistry as partners. How does that happen? How does it happen twice? Campbell and Callum have two title reigns together, and I was booking them in singles and six-man matches to disguise their inability to gel. I couldn't do that with the tag champions.

For Dead Rage, at least, that had changed; There would be no rematch, and Bolt and Rage would be working singles from now on. I have them tentatively pencilled in for matches with JD Morgan and myself to try and gauge what they can bring to the table. Bolt is, frankly, terrible – no better than when we first crossed paths in PPPW under Horatio Dangerous over fifteen years ago. But having stayed in the Tri-State area for most of his career, the fans still react to him. I can't deny that gives him value. Rage isn’t much better... But God help me, they’re as good as the midcard has to offer when it comes to long-term PSW names. Both of them would be booked pretty strongly in the coming months, unless something terrible happens and they break their legs in a freak accident. Maybe I need to up the risk factor in our matches.

Simon Ice is... terrible. Lots of flash, but very little substance. Working with Campbell and Callum was about as much of a push as he would get, but he was a long way from being a viable worker. Cerberus looked great, but had even less idea than Ice of how to work a decent match. Still, he looked great. I kept telling myself that. He looked great. He could do a job as a bodyguard... All I needed was to bring in a worker who could compete in PSW while still seemingly in need of a bodyguard.

Corrosive and Ernest Youngman had fluked into a short-term future together as a team, with Eric Tyler as their manager. Johnny Martin and Little Bill Lewbowski were the best of a very short selection for the titles, but Martin was already feuding with Campbell and Callum alongside Madman Boone – a physical wreck, but our second biggest name after Black. Adding Lebowski made it much easier when it came time for the belts to move on. Perhaps we can find another team first, though.

As for the rest... Ash Campbell and Nelson Callum are decent for this level, with some promise to improve given more exposure. Reckless Antix probably aren't going to get very much better any time soon, but will do as the babyface anchors for the tag division. The Deadly Alliance, meanwhile, are old hands with no unrealistic ambitions, and are even money to hang it up in the next year or so. They'll do as Reckless Antix' opposite numbers, in pretty much every sense, and when they retire we’ll probably bring in the McWade Brothers. We’ve got to have those DaVE connections, after all.

It's not exactly the most inspiring roster ever, although as head booker of course it's my job to make it seem much better in reality than on paper. After six months, it's clear that this isn't going to be an easy task.

I blame Eric Tyler.

I've not really done this in the past, but I'm keen to have more audience participation as this continues. With that in mind, if you have any fan signs, chants or other suggestions, please feel free to share them - the PSW fans are a rowdy bunch, and I'm enjoying adding that in as I get more of a feel for the company. For some reason, in my head they get particularly vocal about Nelson Callum, but love them some Dead Bolt and Steven Parker...
