Official "Booking Committee" Thread

The most "traditional" American take on these matches are that they are used as the big "blow-off" to a feud. Basically, when two guys (or teams, or factions) have been going to war for a while, these special stipulation matches are considered the ultimate way of ending the war once and for all. The special stipulations raise the stakes and usually the danger of the match, which serves as the storyline's climatic point.</p><p> </p><p> Generally, First Blood matches are good for when a feud has been violent and the idea is that both competitor's don't want to just beat their opponent, they want to maim them and do serious, lasting injury. Last Man Standing and I Quit matches have an element of "who's tougher" - in both cases, it's not enjoy to just score a quick pinfall, and these tend to be physically grueling matches. They're good for when things are so hot between two workers that it's again not just enough to win a victory over the rival, but to show without a doubt that they are the tougher person.</p><p> </p><p> 2 out of 3 falls matches are actually how American wrestling championship matches in the early territory days were settled. The idea being, the championship wouldn't change on a "fluke", as having to win twice showed that you truly were the better competitor. In general, a 2 out of 3 falls match can still serve the same purpose - when you want to book in such a way that there is an undisputed victor. The recent Revival vs. DIY 2 out of 3 falls match at NXT Takeover: Toronto is a good example of booking toward that goal.</p><p> </p><p> That said, that's a fairly traditional view of booking. The idea is that you use these special stipulation matches sparingly, because you want them to serve as the important climaxes to big feuds - which means audiences come to see these matches as "special" and thus will buy tickets/PPVs because they're about to see a real "treat". Do them too often, and they lose their novelty, and thus lose their drawing power.</p><p> </p><p> Obviously, different points of view abound. ECW, in many ways, operated under constant "Street Fight" rules, whereas in 1981 Pat Patterson and Sgt. Slaughter met in a "Bootcamp" match that was essentially a "Street Fight" which was considered a bloody, violent spectacle because those matches didn't happen in 1981 WWF. Some promotions regularly put on Death Match matches as part of their calling card - you can rest assured you'll get blood as part of your ticket price. And the Attitude Era WWF and Vince Russo WCW products saw quite a few "gimmick" matches occurring as part of the general over-the-top, overbooked style of the time.</p><p> </p><p> So in some ways, it's a matter of taste how you want to use special stipulation matches. There are people with <em>nuclear</em> heated opinions about what the "correct" way to book special stipulations matches is, so I don't know if there's one right and true way of using them.</p>

I'll give you summaries for what some are for:</p><p> </p><p> </p><ul><li>A <strong>Cage</strong> match isn't just used to prevent interference. It's more frequently used simply to introduce the cage as a stationary weapon or just something to do spots with. Another classic use is to finally trap a cowardly heel in the ring with a face.<br /></li><li><strong>Last Man Standing</strong> is best used for injury angles or explaining a worker's upcoming absence. The goal of whoever requests the match should just be to injure the other guy in a long match.<br /></li><li><strong>I Quit</strong> is solely for humiliation and whoever sets it up is usually a heel. <strong>Submission</strong> matches and <strong>I Quit</strong> matches are actually almost identical, but the philosophy behind them makes them look very different. An <strong>I Quit</strong> match involves a live microphone, and you have to say "I Quit" into it to lose, so the goal is (always brutal and typically bloody) humiliation.<br /></li><li>A <strong>Submission</strong> match would be used to prove (in theory) that one participant is a better pure wrestler.<br /></li><li><strong>First Blood</strong> is rare. It's hard to sell someone on cutting themselves open and then not follow it with anything. It's only used well in really weird circumstances.<br /></li><li><strong>Strap</strong> matches are a bit outdated because they're based on punishing someone by whipping them with a belt. Also, some people think that touching four corners of the ring is a silly stipulation.<br /></li><li><strong>Dog Collar</strong> matches are exclusively for feuds that involve at least one crazy person. It's pretty simple, two wrestlers stay close and beat and choke the crap out of each other using the chain. This is pretty rare because of how dangerous it is (although it oddly isn't considered dangerous by the game).<br /></li><li>An <strong>Iron Man</strong> match is a just a way of promoting a long, competitive match.<br /></li><li>A <strong>Texas Death</strong> match is kind of the holy trinity of grudge matches. It's long (you have to win with a ten count and there's no time limit, time limits used to be common), brutal (no count outs, no DQs, anything goes), and there must be a winner. You cant lose unless you are pinned to a three count, and then can't get up before a ten count, so no double KOs.<br /></li></ul><p></p><p> </p><p> And a Cell match is just a gimmick Cage match. It's bigger and more imposing, and has a ceiling. It was created to debut Kane.</p>

Just finish WM 33 in my game and i want to plan a few feuds to WM now my question.

How you will book one year feud to culminate into Wrestlemania ?

My feuds will be : John Cena vs Dolph Ziggler (this will be more personal with an unsanctioned match at Summerslam or Survivor Series)

Randy Orton vs AJ Styles

Finn Balor vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Kevin Owens vs Sami Zyan

I think it can be done by evolving your storylines on a monthly basis and by involving other people into your storylines on a regular basis. The only thing is that if you want these 4 storylines going on for a whole year the involved workers cannot be added to each others storylines at the same time so that means that you need a few other high rated workers to be involved in your storylines.

Of course you can also book 1 vs 1 12 months a year but personally I wouldn't do that and I also wouldn't watch programming like that.

Here a couple of suggestions:

- Worker A gets injured by worker B (kayfabe) and makes a deal with another worker © to go after the guy who injured him (B). Meanwhile the 'injured' worker is available for angles. You can repeat this a couple of times troughout the year if you want. Suppose the injured worker is not satisfied with the hired gun he can hire someone else. When the injured worker is healed he could have a couple of big matches with worker B to end the rivalry. An alternative is that the hired gun does his job too well and wins the championship from worker B. Injured worker A is pissed off and when he is healed you can book a triple threat and end the rivalry as well with a A vs B 1 on 1 match.

- Tag Team: Workers A & C form a tag team and win the titles. This doesn't do well with worker B who is in a feud with A. He finds a partner, D, and a tag team war is a fact. At the end of the rivalry B & D win rhe titles and C betrays A. B, C and D form a stable and they will try to take out A. A takes out C and D respectively at PPV's and in the end He takes out B.

- Stable lead by A vs Stable lead by B. You have many options to feud trooughout the year with this one.

- Worker A gets some sort of authority in the company and uses this to put down worker A and have him feud with the best of the best, constantly involving himself into matches and angles. In the end a big culminating Authority vs Career match. It has been done before but everything in wrestling has.

Just some ideas. Good luck

Derek has a pre-masked Enygma in C-Verse 97 under the name Gene Curtis. So maybe he develops an ego and becomes the intellectual elitist Professor Curtis or Doctor Curtis. Heck, why not give him a crown and make him King Curtis? It's not like the Iaukeas are going to come after you for mimicking reality that way. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Or speaking of mimicking reality, how about having him become Mr. Formal a la Michael Wallstreet (i.e. Rotunda), calling him Eugene Curtis, pairing him with an attractive computer nerdette manager and forming a C-Verse version of The York Foundation? Anyway one look at his wardrobe and you'll quickly see why I have Lesko references in a Riddler gimmick suggestion. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>I'm looking for some ideas for "In Your House" style names for WWF in 1991, since I want to get away from only the big four pay per views mattering. So far I've had events titled "WWF In Your House: Pay the Piper" and "WWF In Your House: Dangerous Alliance".</p><p> </p><p>

For the next event I'm considering "WWF In Your House: Rude Awakening" but it would be cool to see what other people come up with.</p>

<p>Currently doing a Real World JAN2017 Mod with an upstart company with Jim Cornette at it's helm. Signed up some top Indie talent and for five months have built pretty solid feuds and characters up. I have Adam Cole as the cocky world champion with his stable mates Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay as the even cockier World tag team champions. I have a deranged Sami Callihan trying to break people's legs, haven't had a match where he doesn't hold the stretch muffler on until security comes and escorts him out of the ring. I have Lio Rush being built as a solid young guy holding my mid-card title his calling card being the fact that he only lost once in the company so far and that was to the world champion. But now five months in I am getting stuck. Just had my first big World title feud blow-off match with Adam Cole and Zack Sabre Jr going to a draw when they both escaped the cage at the same time. I want that feud to have a pin in it and move on to something else to really sink my teeth in to. I was thinking of maybe a Bobby Fish/Adam Cole feud but then I thought maybe it would be better to do O'Reilly/Cole since they have great chemistry.</p><p> </p><p>

Really just looking for ideas to move some of these characters forward as I have hit a creative wall and don't want to get stagnant.</p>

Into Jan 2020 with CZCW. I'm cult run 2 shows a month, I run 3 when CZCW Best of the Best tournament is on. I'm on my own network

Without having a TV show i'm looking to expand my events so every month/ most months are 3 events.

I currently have my main shows and then a secondary event called CZCW Rising Tides which is used to build up to the big monthly events.

I'm looking for ideas for events that use my talent in a different way or different talent that on my other two events.

I have incorporated heavier workers into the roster, however 3/4 are still middleweight or below.

..............

My main idea for the moment is having a special tournament just for masked workers in the company. I realised i have about 14 masked workers in the main roster and another 6 in Dev. that I could use to hold a tournment.

I also realised that with that amount I could run a third event a month just for those masked workers for their own title.

Looking for further ideas, ideas to add alongside my masked shows and a name for it.

.......

I have kept some of my original CZCW guys but more and more they are falling behind the standard of the main event and starting to be midcarders. Acid II, American Flash, Frankie Boy Hernandes are all midcarders and probably will never get higher. same with Jake Idol and his partner. Fox Mask has been kept in the lower main event and high upper midcard slot, however he's at risk of slipping down.

Remmy Sky is pretty steady at lower Main Event but it's not likley he will hold the top strap again .

Cali Love Machine is the only one who has kept up with the main event scene, has one World title and in line to get his second defeating my user and none other than Tommy Cornell .

So I was looking for ways to maybe give them something to do to keep them in my plans, rather than just be jobbers to the main eventers.

...................

The newest Elemental is making me sad inside, i signed him up from the start and sent him to dev as his stats were dire, with the aim of getting him to do his names reputation some justice, and despite over 2 years in dev he's just not getting there, he has improved and I'm willing to keep him down there another year or two but I just don't see him being amazing.

I singed David Stone and Matty Faith, Matty is in dev untill I can think of what to do with him. David is the fall guy for the GLORY stable consisting of Kirk Jameson, Casey Valentine and Nelson Callum .

I'm looking for something for Matty, his stats have improved enough in the past 4 years to get him started on the main roster and get him to midcard. Unsure if to keep Matty alone, have him be with GLORY or have him team with David Stone.

Styx the Ferryman- why do you tempt me so... he's in dev, I sooo want to make him work. I love his render, love his name and the possibilities of a spooky masked killer. He has improve a great amount in the past couple of years in dev and whilst he would possibly be a good lower midcarder/ midcarder. He's just not the best monster I have available to push., I have Grave Digga ( give him anew render and called him TYNE) wich has 15 more menace, 20 more star quality than Styx. Styx beats him in basics and psyc.

I don't know if to just give him a shot as TYNE isn't getting the best match ratings.

Signed too many Japanese guys. I like to push a Japanese guy or two to add a bit of a different flavor, however there were a lot of talented guys floating around unemployed so signed afew and haven't pushed any as I can pick between them... I just signed another...bah.

The newest guy is Razan Okamoto - been on my radar since the start of the game. A star and superb performance stats.

Bussho Makiguchi - at midcard went to a 90 rated match in throw away match with my user. and has superb performance stats.

Kozue Kowishima- older than the others at 36 but is a star and has great perfroance stats.

Motoyuki Miyake - I like this guy, he's been used the most and holds my midcard strap

I just got rid Funikoshi and Yoshimi mushashibo and Yoshi Shiomi .

There's no point keeping talent if they are just going to be wasted. I could just release them into the wild where they now have at least midcard pop everywhere in the world.

..................

I got too much talent floating around. I have a feud ending of MVP's (Ross Henry/ Swoop/ Fro v GLORY .

I need to think of somthing for those 7 workers to do.

So far I got Swoop pushing towards the Extreme title and upwards to the world title.

Fro to push towards the World title

Ross to be the gatekeeper.

Nelson to maybe event be released- no plans for him.

Casey Valentine and Kirk Jameson to Team up

David to be Casey and Kirks Lacky.

I have others like Jacob jet , shooter Shaun Deeley I want towards the world title and El Mitico Jr not doing much.

Maybe time to let some guys go and streamline.

I need a way to introduce the AWA title in the 1997 WWE. I don't want it to revolve around any kind of invasion and brand split of any kind, i simply want a way that makes sense to introduce a second world championship, in this case AWA's world title, which already comes with history and prestige. Hence the need to proper introduce it, but without he need for a brand split or invasion. I just don't want to randomly throw it out there without making sense. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Dunno if you'd wanna go this route as it's an Invasion angle of sorts but you could do a slightly altered (better) version of Jim Cornette's NWA storyline from around this period. Have some old school heel manager (Ideally Corny, but if you don't have him Lawler could do it or maybe Sgt Slaughter? Someone like that) come out and decry the evils of the Attitude Era, how it's ruining the business and promise to bring prestige and class back to the business. Then he can produce the AWA Championship Belt, rant about it's history (good opportunity to take some shots at Hogan) and then hand pick his champion (Jeff Jarrett. Jeff Jarrett is the ideal man for this).

Or just recreate it as in real life and have Cornette bring out Dan Severn with his 20 title belts or whatever cos Dan Severn is an effing badass

EDIT: Now that I think of it Sgt Slaughter is PERFECT for this. He had a massive issue with DX and their risque antics around this period as the Commissioner and he used to be in the AWA

I've created a 3rd Event called CZCW Flashpoint with it's own brand. it's going to be unqiue in that it's going to have a womens division and the rest of the male workers will be masked. The majoirty of the workers that are on that brand will only appear on Flashpoint and the big shows. A couple of guys like Masked Cougar, Black Cougar and Fox Mask may appear on both.

I'd like a different name that FlashPoint and I'd like a name for the brands top title: Somthing to do with Masks.

My idea is that the brand will bring back some of Lucha influence the original CZCW had. Some of the big shows may have a mask v mask for example. Loser banished from Flashpoint forever.

It'll also open up more opportunities for the guys i haven't been able to use and free up space to promote the womens i've had in development for the past year and bring up some of the young guys.

...........

So far the main CZCW roster will build up their big show feuds on the monthly event Coast to Coast, Flashpoint brand guys will do it on Flashpoint and and it'll be mixed for the big show of the month. everyone should get in on at least 1 show a month. There should be a lot less filler on the big shows. most matches should be featured feuds.

You could have the Horesmen. Have flair be in the JJ Dillon Manager Role. Cody in the Flair role, not sure what company you are but a team like the Revival as the Tully/Arn and maybe a guy like Omega or a marty scurll or someone as the 4th member. the 4th Horsemen member has been varied over the years from pillman to windham to luger to sid.. soo I dunno

I'm playing as the WWE, but have bought just about everyone out. ROH, NJPW, AAA, and a few bigger named companies still exist. But most have been taken over and made into child companies. I could get pretty much any talent. Ric Flair retired and is unsignable, but I can get Arn Anderson. New Japan stole the Revival from me, but I took nearly the entire Bullet Club from them. It's been a interesting game. Plane Crash and all.
