I'm not completely familiar with the history of the Japanese scene and, more specifically, the history of PGHW. Danger Kumasaka is 62 years old and will retire at some point this year but how do I go about it?

Does anyone with a knowledge of the lore of Japanese scene and PGHW in previous iterations have an idea as to what names he may have fought in the past or how I could go about booking his retirement?

I actually just went through this. I usually book him as the leader of a "stable" of all young lions, and book them to lose multi-man tag matches almost every touring show, which builds up their "respect" rating to slowly get them out of YL status. Toward the end of 2016 I had him do a series of trial matches with each of the young lions individually having matches with him before my top prospect (Motoyuki Miyake, in my case) beat him in his retirement match. He does not put up great ratings, but his high psych really helps build some guys up.

Guys, I need your help on how to book particular thing.

Let's say a big player, like Kenny Omega, signs with WWE. He debuts as a masked guy, totally new and changed, so no one recognizes him. After a good year he gets his shot at the main title and succeeds.

And there's the part I don't know if you can actually do in TEW: right after the title victory Kenny takes of the mask, shocking the whole world, and since this angle he is Kenny Omega (let's say unmasking wasn't his last segment of the show).

Is something like this possible to make or I have to unmask him after the show?

You can't change his name or unmask him halfway through the show. Just use either the angle writer or freestyle angle to refer to him as Kenny Omega if you need to use him in a future angle on the show and ignore the name.

I need some help with announcers and colour commentators, as I need to pick up one or two new announcers and one or two colour commentators.

Supreme Brand

Supreme TV (A-Show)

Announcer: Duane Fry

Colour Commentator: Emma Chase

Authority Figure: Commissioner [Kristen] Pearce

Uprising TV (B-Show)

Announcer: Marvin Earnest

Colour Commentator: Ana Garcia

Authority Figure: ??? (Jerry Eisen/Runaway Train/Carl Batch/Duke Hazzard)

Assault Brand

Assault TV (A Show)

Announcer: ??? (maybe Jerry Eisen)

Colour Commentator: ??? (probably MC Motormouth)

Authority Figure: ??? (Jerry Eisen/Runaway Train/Carl Batch/Duke Hazzard)

High Stakes TV (B Show)

Announcer: ??? (maybe Jerry Eisen)

Colour Commentator: ???

Authority Figure: ??? (Jerry Eisen/Runaway Train/Carl Batch/Duke Hazzard)

My Assault Brand has more Hardcore/Rebellious feel to it, so Jerry Eisen might not be suitable. Additionally Adrian Garcia, Ernie Turner and Eric Tyler can't be used as they are busy with Managerial duties.

Swap Jerry & Duane if Jerry is a bad fit for Assault? I like doing what ROH used to do with Nigel Mcguiness and have my authority figure on color commentary, so maybe go with Duke Hazzard on the Assault brand, have him announce for both shows and he can make matches right from the booth. Duane/Duke for the A Show, someone/Duke for the B Show?

Then for the Supreme Brand, Jerry/Emma for the A show, Marv/Ana for the B Show is fine. The B Show doesn't necessarily need a separate match maker, but if you want one, that's a good spot for MC Motormouth to start potentially, or Carl Batch to work.

I don't have the game in front of me so I'm blanking on announcers to potentially hire. Off the top of my head, Remmington Remus, Terry Smith, or Dane O'Hara are guys I like to use, but i don't think any is particularly stellar.

Not sure about Harlem Heat but DDP's a Jersey guy so the geography would work out well. And in the real world he started out as a manager before transitioning to the ring. So you would still be able to use him even if his in-ring stats would be dire at that stage.

If you want a big hoss from the Northeast, then I have 3 words for you- Bam Bam Bigelow.

Pretty much this, he should be just transitioning into in-ring work around that time but Bruno was never a big work-rate guy so I don't really think he's looking at it the way normal people would, he's looking for heroes, not workers. And I think DDP could be that babyface Brooklyn Brawleresque-other side of the bridge, character that fits the bill after a starting heel run. As too Harlem Heat, it's 1990 NY. We're on the tail end of the first wave of hip-hop, Public Enemy is at the peak of their powers, NY has had a huge influx of African refugees in the 80s and Puerto Ricans are starting to flood in, we're a half decade from the big NYC Rudy clean up so downtown is still covered in seedy porn theaters and such, if you're looking to appeal to NY in the 90s you need heroes that look like the new face of NY, and I see Bruno looking at Stevie even that green and seeing money. But if you don't, see if you can snipe Savio, or someone more local.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

On the topic of New York, I'm under the impression that Bruno lived in Pittsburgh (which makes sense as he briefly ran his own territory there that later became a part of the otl NWF), so I'm going to be running out of the Tri-State area.

Which means that I should probably keep my eye on both Paul Heyman and some of the ECW guys like Tommy Dreamer. Even RVD and Sabu would work as Bruno heavily dislikes The Sheik for stiffing him on pay when he worked for him and actually no-showed, so those guys coming in to job would work.

More news is that I've settled on the 1991 Rising Storms database. Looking through it for candidates from the start, I've tabbed Bruno Sassi, Dino Casanova, Gino Caruso, Gorgeous George III, Joey Maggs, King Kong Bundy, Rick Fuller, Rudy Boy Gonzalez as people to possibly drag out of the unemployment line.

That's a start, but I'll need to probably nab a few guys out of other jobs (or maybe keep them on PPA until I'm feeling comfortable to do more). Will probably make another post with a finalized roster.

I let a game sim without interaction for eight years and started digging through how it reacted to see a few trends.

I was noticing the AI schedules Main Event Titles almost exclusively for PPV events and never on TV, while midcard titles are with some companies (PHGW) on the line on a weekly basis. Is there a good rule of thumb to use (or rather, that you use) for when you schedule title matches, is it also belt/-dependent?

A non-trend question, I've seen a thread on how to best set up a card for TV/Event, but what is the best way to run a storyline?

Thanks!

If you go into "Modify Title" on one of your company's belts, you'll see there's a section for Events, TV, and Tours; this can be set to Often, Normal, Rarely, and Never. This guides the AI when running a non-player controlled company or when using the Auto Booker (as long as you don't toggle the "No Title Matches" box).

Any ideas on storylines to rename a title? Essentially, JCP 1987, I want to rename the short-lived NWA United States Tag Team Championship to the NWA World Television Tag Team Championship so that I can use the former name for the alliance instead. How should I go about this? I'm leaning towards a "network decision" with an edict by TBS but that feels so cheap. Has anyone had any success renaming established, or even in this case, short-lived titles?

A TBS edict could work, if you're adding some sort of stipulation in like it having to be defended weekly, or offering a bonus for weekly title defenses. It also works very well because Ted Turner was big on international cooperation and television expansion, so I could totally see him being used in kayfabe as mandating the title changing it's name to give more of an international representation to the company.

For me if something is short-lived, I usually just go with the name change casually. JCP had a lot of titles pop up between 1984 and 1989, so I usually condense stuff like the US Tag Team and World Six Man titles. :o

Women of Wrestling is usually my go-to for a big women's promotion.

So its 2004 TNA and I have singed Dustin Rhodes to a lengthy deal. I'm bringing him in to feud with Sting from the get go but need a new name that is more like Goldust than the awful Black Reign. Any suggestions???

I actually don't mind Black Reign (prefer it over Seven). That said, you could probably go for a homage to Gorgeous George in some way, or pay tribute to Cody's many gimmicks.

That said, if you want to keep to the Oscar statue look, perhaps you could lift the name in some way? Oscar Knight (because the original statue design was that of a knight) could work out okay.

I usually do, too, retiring those titles right off the bat. But this time, I want to do some things I haven't really considered before.

My original idea was, in a lot of ways, too simple for me. Essentially, after the Midnight Express win the titles, Cornette does his "we're the best / fighting champions" shtick. TBS commissions new titles, awards them to Cornette's legendary tag team, and pays him $50,000 to build the prestige of the NWA World Television Tag Team Championship.

Yes, the intention is weekly title defenses, generally against jobbers because it's 1987. It's a way to break in the young tag teams on their way up, such as The Steiner Brothers, who are likely the first team to unseat the inagural champions.

What does Jim Cornette do with the $50,000? Leaning towards a mercenary, like Bam Bam Bigelow, but he does have an enforcer in Big Bubba Rogers, so perhaps I haven't finished brainstorming.

I like the idea, and you could still use it buying an extra member to their stable in something like a War Games match.

Alternatively, he uses it to bribe a ref during a Championship match for either Rogers or the Express during a rematch.

Though there should also be a number of Jim Cornette Spends His Cash skits

While not intended to be a long-term partnership, their excellent tag team chemistry changed that and they are the current reigning tag team champions of their brand. Bruce was originally brought in as a threat to the dominant Vengeance, and was on the shortlist to end his 18-month World Heavyweight title run. <strong>Christian Faith</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Seemingly an SWF-lifer, the former Supreme champion jumped ship in August 1998, one month after dropping the SWF title. The 15-year veteran (though still only 33) set about vanquishing the dark forces of Nemesis, Geidroyc and the Darkness Warriors, before moving into a star-making feud with Rich Money, which positioned the youngster to dethrone Vengeance. Money has since left under the cloud of a scandal and after news of the scandal, Faith was chosen as the guy to take the TCW World Heavyweight title, most recently retaining against Freddie Datsun.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Dan Stone Jr</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">The Stones and DeColts moved south to join TCW in November 1997, as the company looked to expand. Dan Stone Jr has emerged as one of the most consistently impressive members of that group of signings, alongside his brother Jeremy. His 21-month tenure has seen a Stone-DeColt feud, and a dissolution of the Stone Family bond after the arrival of Sean McFly. A one-time TCW tag team champion, Stone has yet to make a real mark on the championships of TCW. He recently turned face once again, and perhaps now is the time for him to take the next step?</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Jeremy Stone</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Signed alongside his siblings in November 1997, the eldest of the Stone children has shown himself to be a superb hand in his 21-month run. He has passed on a lot of his expertise and knowledge to his siblings and the DeColt Boys, helping to establish all the Canadians as important parts of the TCW roster. He had an excellent six-month run as TCW Junior Heavyweight Champion, putting the title on the map before dropping it to Sean McFly. </p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">The homegrown star for the future and the inaugural TCW International Champion in January 1997. He has since made that title his own, and is currently on his second run with the belt, which is arguably more important in the eyes of the fans than the World Heavyweight title after the Rich Money scandal. His feuds with Sam Strong, Rip Chord, Nemesis, Dusty Streets and Dread have seen him improve dramatically, and his natural star power has helped him elevate fellow next-gen stars Jack Bruce, Ricky Dale Johnson, Freddie Datsun and Puerto Rican Power. Always a front-runner for accolades, he would perhaps be the obvious choice to be the first winner of this tournament.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Ricky Dale Johnson</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">One of TCW’s (claimed) homegrown stars, despite his run in TWL, it was not until he joined the then-HGC that he was given national prominence. Pushed as one of the three young-stars alongside Liberty and Jack Bruce against the three star veterans Rip Chord, Sam Strong and Nemesis, RDJ clicked with the fans instantly. He rose alongside his peers in popularity but has not improved in the ring to the same extent, nor on the microphone. Despite his push cooling due to new signings, RDJ’s popularity with the fans has not waned, even as he has been used to help others (such as Rich Money) take the next step to the Main Event. An outsider on paper but maybe the fans’ choice?</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Sam Keith</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">The recently fired ex-Head Booker of SWF joined TCW in July 1999 and embroiled himself in a feud with Jack Bruce that has shown no signs of ending soon. A veteran and a champion in four countries already, he is undoubtedly one of the best talents in the world and a seasoned and reliable figure. Signed in the wake of Rich Money’s departure, it is easy to see him as a direct replacement for the disgraced former champion. His perceived failure at SWF was a result of a systematic attacks and pillaging from TCW. He has a chip on his shoulder and something to prove but is an SWF ‘failure’ the right choice for this tournament?</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Sean McFly</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Debuted in January 1999 after a strong run in SWF, his departure from that company was the penultimate nail in the coffin (before the poaching of Sam Keith). He was brought in strong and quickly became the SWF Junior Heavyweight Champion, and he has made that title as valuable as the World Heavyweight title. His matches have been consistently excellent, and he has been generous in letting others take victories from him along the way. With a sustained push on top, McFly could easily break into the top pack of TCW stars – is now the time?</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Dread</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">A legend in his own right, Dread returned from almost 12 years in Japan in June 1998 as an ally for the newly heel Sam Strong. He was initially cast as a roadblock to get to the legendary Strong but as he produced consistently impressive results, he slowly morphed into a star in his own right once again. At 37, he does not have many years left but was ranked #13 in the world in 1998. There is still something left in the tank but if he is to get one last big run, it needs to start sooner rather than later. His team with Runaway Train has put him back on a dominant path, and he comes into this tournament with a lot of momentum.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Freddie Datsun</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Datsun joined TCW as an everyman babyface in February 1997 so he is in many people’s eyes a homegrown talent despite his success in DAVE. He found himself in the now-defunct TCW Hardcore division in his early days, feuding with veterans such as Mike Barstow and The Demons of Rage. He was selected as fodder for Vengeance early in the monster’s title reign, and took the opportunity with both hands, getting himself over massively with the fans. He moved into the stratosphere with a surprise heel turn and feuds with Jack Bruce and Liberty. He looked on course to dethrone Vengeance in his second feud with the champion but plans were changed very last minute in favour of Rich Money. Maybe Datsun deserves a chance to prove he was the right choice after all…</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Jack Bruce</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">With the company from the start, Jack Bruce is a homemade superstar. He benefited from feuds with Sam Strong and Rip Chord early on, as well as a now-legendary feud with Liberty over the TCW International title. He was also lucky to have Rip Chord take him under his wing, which has seen him develop phenomenally as an in-ring talent. Combined with his natural entertainment skills and Star Quality, Bruce is the whole package now. He was angered to be turned heel but has thrived in that role for over a year now. It might be time for him to return to the throne as the top babyface in the company and this could be a vehicle for that turn.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">An undoubted superstar plagued by demons. Butler signed for TCW in November 1998 and immediately spent three months in rehab. On his return, his drinking is having less of an obvious impact on his work but is still lingering in the background. He is in the conversation for best allrounder in wrestling and it remains a surprise that he has never held a championship in his 12-year career. His heel run as ‘Mr Hollywood’ has been a resounding success and he looks on course to dethrone Liberty as the TCW International Champion in their current feud. Has he finally put his demons behind him?</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Nemesis</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">A talented veteran, who is still working for DAVE alongside his TCW commitments. He was a reliable and valuable asset in the early days of TCW before moving into position as mentor to younger talents, helping to get Giedroyc, the Darkness Warriors, BLZ Bubb, Larry Wood and others over by association. He suffered a Compound Orbital Fracture in February that saw him relegated to the commentary booth. Now back in the ring, he is looking for one last run before time catches up with him. A strong run here could catapult him towards a first ever World title…</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Puerto Rican Power</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">The big Puerto Rican took a chance and joined TCW’s development system in January 1997. After 6 months there, he stepped up to the main roster, where he was involved in the TCW Hardcore division and then a reasonably successful tag team with BLZ Bubb. He received a TCW World Heavyweight title shots against both Rip Chord and Sam Strong in his native Puerto Rico, both B rated despite his D+ average rating for 1997. His impressive performances in those matches saw him receive a strong push in 1998, becoming TCW International Champion and feuding with Jack Bruce and Liberty. Since the end of that feud and dropping the title in March 1999, he has floundered slightly with a short feud with Shawn Gonzalez the only thing of note since then. He needs to re-find some momentum to take the next step to the upper end of the Main Event.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Runaway Train</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Signed to development in January 1997, and a former developmental champion, Runaway Train joined the main roster late in 1997 as a monster heel and a threat to rising stars Jack Bruce, Liberty, Ricky Dale Johnson and Rich Money, alternating feuds against them and lower card fodder to maintain his dominant aura. He became an onscreen ally of a heel Sam Strong and saw his stock begin to rise, eventually winning the TCW All Action title, a replacement for the old Hardcore title. His smash-mouth brawling style was contrasted against more agile competitors, leading to some entertaining bouts, before dropping the belt to Steve DeColt. He came up short against Vengeance in a brief World title feud and has since found success in a tag team alongside Dread. At 34, his time as a top act might have passed unless he can break out very soon…</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<strong>Vengeance</strong></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Signed to TCW’s development territory in January 1997, he began appearing concurrently on the main show almost immediately, with a record of 41-0 in TCW, including taking the TCW World Heavyweight title from Sam Strong in November 1997. He feuded with the very best TCW had to offer through his run, and only lost twice in 1998 (51-2), once in an eight-man tag and once as the unpinned participant in a Triple Threat. In 1999, he has been beaten in another eight-man tag and a Fatal Fourway, as well as a 30-minute time limit draw with Freddie Datsun, and finally in a clean loss to Rich Money to end his 18-month title reign. That loss saw the monster snap and he has formed Vengeance Unlimited, turning heel once again, alongside BLZ Bubb and Morpheus. Is this the start of another monster run after his stunning defeat at the hands of the now-disgraced Money?</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<p>I remember years ago seeing someone talk about how Vince Sr. would book a typical Bruno feud. I have looked on the site and I could not find it. </p><p> </p><p>

I was wondering if any older fans could tell me how a feud with Bruno would typically be booked in the WWWF.</p>

I started playing as SWS and I looking for names for tournament like G1 Climax, tag team tournament, junior heavyweight tournament and women's tournament (All tournaments have league format not round-robin tournament like Climax).

<p>Do I pull the trigger on Hirooki Goto and give him the big one? I want to, but... I just can't do it. My main event scene (read: IWGP Heavyweight scene) consists solely of Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shinsuke Nakamura, and a fourth that sort of goes year by year, basically the guy who challenges for it and loses. I have plans set up for AJ Styles to be the fourth official guy but he is coming in soon (February-June) and I want to sort of repeat history and have Styles instantly be a winner. Do I give Goto a "thank you" title reign? Do I make him a permanent main eventer? Mind you, in-game he has everything he needs, 100 SQ, excellent wrestler, but just the fact he has never won the title irl somehow prevents me from pulling the trigger. </p><p> </p><p>

I guess what I'm asking is, what do I do with Goto in 2014?</p>

Do it. Not only because it's the ethical and humane thing to do, but also because you never know how the reign will turn out or change your opinion on him. He may very well become a megastar for you personally and someone you value even more going forward.

Besides, having 4 pillars is so 1990s AJPW. You clearly should be going for five pillars, including two guys who can form a tag team pillar if needed. In your case you can send Kazuchika Okada and Shinsuke Nakamura to dominate the heavyweight tag division for CHAOS, leaving Goto, Tanahashi and Styles at the singles scene with a few rotating guys.

Just put Goto's entrance music on a loop for a few hours and tell yourself... isn't this how all shows should end? :D

But for serious, Goto is one of my favourites in real life. He's a strong worker, with a good look, some great history and probably my favourite music at the moment. When it hits, I know good things are going to happen. And every time a tournament rolls around, I find myself trying to book stories in my head for how Goto will finally get the big win he deserves. Imagine him as NJPW's Kofi Kingston... and book him at least as strongly as that. :D

Goto is. Which sort of makes Goto & Nakamura more likely. The reasoning here is because I can't really have Okada take over Nakamura's spot as leader, since Naka isn't leaving. I mean it could play out differently, but yeah. Maybe I'll have Okada joining CHAOS and Goto, who might be a big player, form his own faction, since right now Okada and Goto have been feuding a bit over the course of 2 years. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Derek B" data-cite="Derek B" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41193" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Just put Goto's entrance music on a loop for a few hours and tell yourself... isn't this how all shows should end? <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> But for serious, Goto is one of my favourites in real life.
