Diary Preview And Questions Thread

Recommended Posts

<p>Thanks to all for the advice, you've made some great points. I'll probably stay with C-Verse diaries, but what really resonated was picking a concept that I enjoy. I can imagine that helping a lot.</p><p> </p><p>

Re drawing the reader in, my next post was going to be a teased Big Smack Scott world title push (that I would actually have done), so if that hadn't worked, I don't think any of my other ideas would have. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Is there any way to display pictures without registering with a 3rd-party site, e.g. Imgur?</p><p>

Once again, thank you.</p>

Best of luck with it, it can be really rewarding.</p><p> </p><p> I've used Photobucket and later Imgur for images, I'm not aware of a workaround but, equally, I'm not technologically savvy at all so don't take my word for it.</p>

As I've said above, the more engaging what you produce is, the more people will be inclined to engage with it.<p> </p><p> 7) Pick something and stick with it. Only a handful of diaries last long-term and I'm okay with that. I know what's involved and I know how hard it is to keep going. On the other hand though lots of people have passed through here too who constantly start a dynasty, make a handful of posts, give up and start over. Speaking personally, over time, I come to recognise their names and I never really engage with their stuff because I know it won't last more than a week or two anyway.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> When it comes to point six, I think it is a matter of personal taste. I for one am not a fan of backstage stuff for the most part. If it is done right I think it is good, but more often than not it is not done right (I would include myself in the not done right category, I was terrible at writing backstage stuff). </p><p> </p><p> The funny thing is when talking about number seven, is it used to not be that way or it was not to the extent it is now. When I first started on here it was frowned upon to keep on starting and stopping diaries. Now it seems that to have become far more normal. </p><p> </p><p> Like you, once I notice someone doing it over and over again I do not bother looking at what they are doing. I mean what is the point? Most of them never change, so why bother giving them another chance only to have them pull the same crap again.</p><p> </p><p> There was a time when I would have said not to do cheap bumps but that has also become normal now. What I mean by cheap bumps is when a writer will quote on just one or two comments or will issue a 24 hour warning in their prediction contest. This is often done just so that their diary remains on the first page. Oddly enough I could sort of understand doing that a few years ago when there were a lot more diaries but now if you do not post in a day your diary may still be on the front page.</p>

Don't do it just for the responses from others. Don't misunderstand me, one of the best parts of a dynasty is the engagement of others, especially when people are willing to discuss your booking and you get a sense that your characters have gotten 'over' so to speak. But, ultimately, create for the sake of creation. Anything else is a bonus.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> If you're having fun with the writing, it comes through for the reader. They would fall off the first page and then like clockwork they would either do a twenty-four hour warring or would reply to one or two posts in order to make sure their diary was on the first page. Thus bumping down everyone who had actual updates. It just comes across as a jerk move to me.</p><p> </p><p> It seems less like it is about engagement and more about trying to keep their diary on the first page. That is just a personal preference though and I am sure there are people who love reading backstories.</p><p> </p><p> <em><strong>Edited to add</strong></em><em>:</em> Just to be honest here, I at one time used to do the 24 hour warring thing as well. I stopped after another writer sent me a PM telling me I should not do it because it might annoy potential readers.</p>

Possible Diary

Hey all. Been nice to be back and feeling creative again and while I am enjoying my romp as AAW I had another idea slowly brewing and I might look into making a diary. MEW is around, but probably more just a diary I randomly update when I am feeling goofy and if I do undertake this project it would be as frequently updated as AAW given shows would be longer and have much more content.

The Mad King

Canadian Golden Combat has had its ups and downs over the years. Under George DeColt it was always about his sons and them overcoming the odds of whatever monster George could find and build up. It was a formula that worked, but over the years was starting to grow tired. The fans wanted a hero to step up that wasn't a DeColt at times as well as villains that were not so easily vanquished. Many thought the changing of the guard would bring the changes fans wanted.

Instead the change of ownership saw a rift between brothers. Alex DeColt was put in charge and his voice of bringing in Phil Vibert in caused a rift that saw the eldest brother, Steve, leave in frustration and head to the top rivals of CGC. It was a rocky start, but with a mind like Phil Vibert coming in to book many thought it was a dawning of the new era. The Alex was getting older, but Jack was still in his prime and Ricky could be a big time player for years to come. Then there was a crop of talent such as the members of ELITE that included Shooter Sean Deeley along with other up and comers like Trent Shaffer.

The results were much different. Alex and Phil clashed and booking didn't really change. Young talent like Deeley and Shaffer left for greener pastures and a scandal saw Jack become a broken man when he found out his wife had been cheating on Nate Johnson. Even a stalwart like Eddie Chandler left and the company continued to struggle. Phil left and Alex was left in control entirely. What resulted was booking that continued to grow stale and more of the same. Alex grew distant and few could really talk to him.

All these years it has been painful to watch. I am not a DeColt by blood, but I consider Alex a brother. It has been a crazy career many say I didn't deserve and was often because of the fact me and Alex were so close. All I ever did was to try and make CGC as best as it could be, but I am one man. It hurts to see Ricky feel the pull of going elsewhere. It hurts to see Jack putting on the big smile to the crowds, but to see a defeated man when he is not in the public eye. Most of all it hurts to see what is happening to Alex. I must help my friend even if means taking on a job I was never wanting or perhaps even qualified.

I will not let my friend down. I will not see CGC fail. I am Dan DaLay and I am going to be way in over my head.

I would definitely be interested in this. I've enjoyed what I've read of your other diaries and it would be a lot of fun to get in on the ground floor with one -- plus I have a soft spot for big Dan DeLay.

If you're that compelled, you could start the saves now and have them ready for when one diary ends.</p>

Load up a image address, from internet images or if you want something from your PC to show up, you need to host the image on a site like imgur or imgbb. Right click on the image you want to post, choose copy image adress or copy image url, paste it into the insert image box which pops up after selecting the button above and boom. Or if you do <span>%5Bimg%5D%20insert%20the%20address%20in%20between%20the%20brackets%20to%20get%20a%20pic%20to%20show%20up.%20</span></p>

<p>I'm kicking around the idea of doing a second diary so that I can bounce between my 05 Mid Atlantic diary and a new one. It would be set in the 77 CVerse mod and would have a narrative style much different to the 05 MAW one. </p><p> </p><p>

Would anyone have interest in a 77Cverse diary?</p>
