Matt's Mods

News of the demise of my 1993 mod, Young Guns, have been greatly exaggerated. That mod will STILL be going forward after I get Risky Business out of beta. I have talked with Hive about possibly using Clash of the Titans as a base & he has granted permission. I have also considered starting fresh (albeit with Jaysin's work on AAA back when I was working on this for TEW 2013). A more definitive answer will come after I finish Risky.

Looking forward to this!</p>

<p>I kind of figured that you did the TV stuff before fully adapting to all the changes Adam did to TV in 16 (there were a ton). There are a lot of the deals that are too high, at least to me, and the only reason I can think of is that you didn't want people jumping across the country with little deals like was reported in the early days when people were just converting 13 mods. You solved that with the "Must include home region" feature being a requirement on all the deals. I think the 40 pop on all the single-region broadcasters should be lowered a smidge. With the 9 main regions all starting at 90 Importance with 2 exceptions (95 in SE and 100 in Tri), 35 gets you to regional (really high 32 but everyone loves ending in 5 or 0), and now that you have to run 2 shows to gain a point, that shaves 10 shows off. I also don't understand why some of the same network levels have such different requirements other than historical accuracy. ESPN, WGN, and USA being the main three I'm talking about. TNN is even more out of whack being Small but requiring near national pop across the board. None of it is game-breaking in the slightest, well, outside of the PPV thing which can be smoothed over by signing an event deal with TBS. </p><p> </p><p>

I think a lot of this really is due to having to adjust to the radical decrease in pop gains. A lot of these levels wouldn't be bad in 13 when you gained 0.9 for a great show.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm fine with Magnum's psych being where it is. I just brought that up as a personal detriment for naming him the Figurehead. He should grow to be at least World-title-worthy in a year or two (pysch at 81). With the heels on the starting roster, not including Flair, and who you are likely to hire, he'll be fine.</p>

You'll be happy to know I made adjustments to USA based PPV broadcasters and will be making adjustments to all broadcasters for the upcoming final release. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I'll just wait on that and play the mod that made me by 16 when I swore I wouldn't, The Superfly Effect (which I'm affectionately calling the No Sell mod; seriously people, I hate to preach but a sub 66 selling rating means they suck at selling anything in TEW). I was only a week in so no big whoop. I do want to take back a little bit about the 40 pop requirement for the low-level TV deals because that was the level in most 13 mods. As I said though, the new pop gains might require some rethinking some of that. When you do the math and realize that 30 shows almost put you at Regional in 13 (27 pop or 0.9 x 30), but in 16 that means you've just hit Small (15 pop 0.5 x 30), that means you're in for a very, very, very long grind so anything that rewards the player is kind of needed.</p><p> </p><p> Oh, and just as an aside, the very first TSE game (March 1987 start) I did had only Ric Flair on the Time Decline list, which I fixed for my 2nd attempt because that's just silly, but Dusty has never shown up on that list yet. Funny that no one is on that list for me for WCW/JCP. Ole did auto-push to RA.</p>

As I take a break from updating Risky Business, I decided to start doing some work on Young Guns from scratch, though I may use some stuff from Clash of the Titans after having received permission from Hive. The first big thing I'm working on are moves and move sets to fully take advantage of how they work now in TEW 2016. The moves and move set files needed cleaning up anyway, and I figured the best way would be to start from scratch.

<p>Decided to give a bit of an update as far as progress goes. I'll be getting back to updating locations for Risky Business later this week (maybe tonight or tomorrow).</p><p> </p><p>

As for Young Guns, I have 71 moves and 49 move sets completed thus far. Now I don't know if I'll have all of the moves and move sets complete by the time I'm ready to release Young Guns, but I hope to have a good starting point anyway. I've already decided that I'll release the moves and move sets as its own database that any and all modders can use as freeware to help make things much easier for all the modders in the modding community. I'll update that into the first post shortly.</p><p> </p><p>

EDIT: Main post updated with info about upcoming moves and move sets database.</p>

Are you sure Yank's thread isn't about trying to convince him that Stan Hansen shouldn't be made master of the universe?

I feel I owe this post to everyone. Over the past year, I've been trying to work on completely updating Risky Business to take advantage of the new features of TEW 2016, and had intentions to update Main Event and release Young Guns. However, there are times that real life has you thinking about what to do. I had one such moment during WrestleMania week and weekend, as I started to ponder how to balance whatever free time I get. Lately, when updating Risky Business, I've been hitting a brick wall that I'm sure other modders have hit from time to time. I do some work, then I just hit a proverbial brick wall. So here's the status of everything:

I intend to try to finish updating Risky Business. If nothing else, I want to get the location portion finished so that I can release that as it's own file for the community to use and make it to where it can plug and play into any mod. Other than updating RB, I am stepping away from making full game world mods. For me, it got to a point where it was starting to feel like work, and the time I put into TEW, I want it to be fun. That leads me to let everyone know that after talking to justtxyank, I am happy to announce that he has accepted the task of taking over making a 1993 mod. I felt he was the best candidate to take it over as he has already released 1991, is working on 1992, and theretofore he will have a great base to work with already. As for Main Event, any experienced mod maker who wants to release a February (or better yet, January so that we can run the first ever WWF Royal Rumble if we like) 1988 mod, and has the time to work on it, have at it.

As for me, I'm not leaving here anytime soon. I feel that I'll be at my best making small contributions such as the aforementioned location plug and play file that is based off the locations from Justtxyank's 1991 mod. I also intend to release a plug and play move set database that any and all modders can use. And with there not being any pressure now, who knows, I might be able to stick with a diary this time! :D:p

I want to thank everybody here who's been warm and welcoming, has shared laughs and good chats, and has helped me to understand the inner workings of TEW. If I start listing off everyone by name, we'll be here all night. So I'll just leave you all with this...
