Jay Fair's grandsons had gone for the day. While he still took the occasional booking, Jay had long since retired from active refereeing and booking. He had reached the pinnacle, and when someone reached the pinnacle they moved on from MAW. For Jay, that meant complete retirement. Of course, the reason for that was MAW finally sold out. After Sam Keith, MAW became less about the future and more about the bottom line. For Jay, despite remaining on as head booker, this meant it was time to help make MAW palatable to the consumer. The consumer being Supreme.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> At least that's what he told me in our first shoot interview. It was then I realized I needed to know more about Mid Atlantic Wrestling. To my generation of fans, guys who knew of Rip Chord and Sam Keith from the Supreme Network, the work ethic and training at Mid Atlantic meant nothing. For us, MAW was another small time promotion that old guys did to pass time or young guys did to get their big break. It stuck to the eastern seaboard, never going more north than Connecticut or more south than South Carolina, never left the seaboard except for the occasional Pittsburgh show. It was... Yes that Findlay. We need to be educated about the amazing feuds between Greg Gauge and Roderick Remus, the amazing story of Peter Goldman, the resurgence of tag team wrestling. The revolution of women's wrestling as a true equal and not offshoot brand. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Our generation of fans needs to understand George Monton, who used to wrestle under his legal name of George Wolfe until the Eisens got his hands on him, was doing his shtick years before he went to the big leagues. Don't know much about MAW but I really like the intro so will try keep up with this. It's similar to something I'm planning in that it's retrospective. Will just be tricky for you in game to make sure stuff goes the way it needs to for the story but will make it interesting.</p>

[Just a heads up, anything in brackets is completely me. Excited to have some of you readers back and new ones as well!]

---

Poker, Peace and the People's Court

The 11th Rip Chord Invitational was Jay's first. The stories that come from that first invitational vary depending who you ask. Jay Fair describes it as chaos.

"We had some basic rules," Jay remarks. "No drugs. No smoking. And of course, keeping in line with kayfabe, at the times faces and heels had to be separated. It led to some interesting locker room situations."

According to former MAW talent, Toby Forster, one of those situations had to do with over one thousand dollars. "So that slut Lisa [bowen] organized a poker tournament and about 8 of join in, we each throw in 200 each. It was me, the slut, Ernie [Forthdyke-Hume], Architect, Ade [Nelson], Jonah [Pilgrim], Bradley [blaze] and James [Cheetah Boy]. And by the end, it was her and James and that slut showed her tits to win!"

When I confirmed the story, Jay remembers vaguely that Lisa organized a tournament and won it. "At the time Toby was wrestling as Trix Triumph and he and Lisa, God rest her soul, were dating. That is why heels and faces should be separate though. They broke that separation rule. But that is not even the craziest thing that happened. There was almost a fire."

Sam Keith, almost 70, laughed when I asked him about the near fire.

"A fire?" Sam chortles. "Try cultural clashes. I had worked with Fumihiro Ota [super Ninja] for quite a bit out in Total [Championship Wrestling] and I knew I could always get him to come out for a one night special. The only issue is Fumihiro smoked and he smoked a ton. Now it was an old rule in the locker room, no smoking. Whether it was the legal reasons or whatever, I don't remember but I do remember being in the gorilla when I heard Jay nearly cancel the show as he screamed 'fire!'"

"I smelled smoke coming from the heel locker room," Jay remarks almost light heartedly. "I had no idea what was going on so I happen to ask if there was a fire in the building. I walk in and there's Fumihiro Ota standing there with a pack of Peace cigarettes and he's smoking."

"The only time I saw Jay lose his mind like that," Syd Collier remarks, "was Goldman showed up drunk out of his mind. From that point, no one was allowed from outside the company backstage."

"Fumihiro was not happy," Sam said, "but I smoothed him over. I think he sits in some Tokyo castle waiting for Jay Fair to show up one day to turn him into a cigarette." Although Fumihiro Ota does live in the states, he refused to comment on the situation remarking he does not remember Jay Fair.

Then, as the show was about to kick off with a 4 team showcase, Jay remembers one more incident involving Johnny Needham and Sam Keith. "Long story short, it was a wrestler's court," Jay remarks. Although the details are murky everyone's stories seemingly line up. Needham, a rookie, had not said hello to James Neil, working as Cheetah Boy then. While this would not be a big deal in most locker rooms, James was the veteran presence in the room at the time and it was customary when the vet said hello, any rookies would return that hello. Sam's ruling found Johnny guilty, leading to a heavy tab at the bar that night and a loss in the pre-show match. There's an old article on the internet archives from the Total Extreme Wrestling website quoting Sam after the incident that not only was that not hazing, but Sam had no idea what hazing even meant. "Hazing?" remarked Sam Keith, "isn't that a porn term or something?" Of course, one of the more famous legal battles in wrestling to date came about because of Sam's hazing, but that's a chapter for another day.

Rip Chord Invitational Opening Round

Andrew Harper vs. Ade Nelson

Harper came out to a decent pop from the 500 or so in attendance as the show kicks off in classic MAW fashion - with a wrestling match. Ever since TCW went corporate, it is probably the last place in the states you can actually watch a show and know for a fact in the first 5 minutes, there will be a wrestling match. With that being said, this was more of one of those old fashioned toughman competitions. Harper came in and destroyed Nelson, although Nelson looked to mount a comeback with a top rope hurricanrana, Harper caught him and powerbombed him to the outside. Referee Jay Fair called for the bell immediately, signaling that Nelson was injured.

Andrew Harper d. Ade Nelson due to injury stoppage, 4:15, E+

The crowd absolutely ate Harper up. Seemingly so, he’s a NYCW guy and knows how to work old school crowds. And now, if MAW decided to keep Harper on and they decide to push Nelson, they have an angle down the road with Nelson and Harper.

Rip Chord Invitational Opening Round

Hal Harvard w/ Jonah Pilgrim vs. Miller Fforde

The reigning MAW American champion Harvard looked completely outmatched in this contest as Fforde kept up the pace. That pace would be his downfall however a missed diving crossbody took out referee Jay Fair, allowing Harvard to take advantage with a low blow. As Harvard rolled up Fforde, Jonah Pilgrim slid into the ring and counted to 3.

Earnest.
What in the world just happened?

Forthdyke-Hume.
Marvin, clearly you do not remember that Hal Harvard paid for Jonah Pilgrim’s referee training to be officially sanctioned by the Delaware State Athletic Commission!

Earnest.
This crowd doesn’t remember either!

Jay Fair, having recovered, is now being appealed to by Miller Fforde. Harvard has already rolled out and is celebrating. Fair simply shrugs.

Earnest.
Jay Fair needs to show his authority and restart this match! I can’t believe the Frat Pack just screwed Miller Fforde out of this tournament.

David Bowie’s Man Who Sold the World begins to play as the Architect makes his way out.

Forthdyke-Hume.
Enough about losers Marv, here comes my prediction for the tournament.

Earnest.
Why’s that?

Forthdyke-Hume.
He always has a plan!

On cue, the screen cuts to picture in picture with the Architect in front of the MAW logo backstage. He is dressed in a safari hunting gear, with what looks like a rifle strapped to his back.

The Architect.
The Rip Chord Invitational is a point where some launch their careers. For the Architect, it’s a chance to add to the collection of trophies. Cheetah Boy, I never miss a shot on a safari. I guarantee you will not be able to out run me because I always have a plan!

Rip Chord Invitational Opening Round

The Architect vs. Cheetah Boy

The Architect and Cheetah Boy came about this match with two different styles and while the crowd was hot for the match, one could tell Cheetah and Architect just weren’t on the same page. While Architect was more grounded, Cheetah seemed to want to spend more time in the air and this high flying advantage worked to his advantage as he pulled out the win over Architect with the Flying Cheetah Pounce [Frog Splash] for the win.

Cheetah Boy d. The Architect via pinfall, 11:02, D-

Earnest.
Well there goes your pick for the winner.

Forthdyke-Hume.
George Wolfe hasn’t even come out yet Marv, I have no idea what you are yappering about.

Earnest.
Give me a break!

Rip Chord Invitational Opening Round

George Wolfe vs. ???

The monster is waiting in the ring for his opponent when some generic music begins to play and…

http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y409/joshmancini/Wiley%20Steinway_zpsbwdy2ftb.jpg

Wiley Steinway comes out. This isn’t much of a match though as when Steinway hits the ring he’s met with a huge lariat, followed by Wolfe’s signature Running Powerslam for an easy squash win.

George Wolfe d. Wiley Steinway via pinfall, 0:59, E+

The camera is playing up to the crowd as the announce team hypes up the first main event match.

Forthdyke-Hume.
Steinway was no match for Wolfe.

Earnest.
That certainly seemed the case as the tag specialist looked lost on his own. Speaking of tag specialists, we have two of the best tag teams in the world going for the gold next!

Forthdyke-Hume.
Well, if you want to call the Dynamite Express the first and second best tag teams in the world, be my guest. They certainly are good enough to hold two spo-

Earnest.
Wait a minute, is that who we think it is?

The camera stops on two men in suits, both men holding gold championship belts.

The crowd immediately begins to chant “Which one’s Waldorf? Which one’s Statler?”

Earnest.
The COTT Tag Team champions, the Ring Generals! What are they doing here in the Mid Atlantic?

Forthdyke-Hume.
They must be trying to see what a real tag team looks like Marv!

Earnest.
Or scouting their next opponents?

MAW Tag Team Championship Match

The Dynamite Express © vs. DeMarcus & Gray

This has been a feud going on a while now and while DeMarcus & Gray hold a non-title victory over the Dynamite Express, any chance of that happening again seemingly disappeared when the Express caught sight of the COTT Tag champs. Gray played face in peril which led to a hot tag to DeMarcus, and while DeMarcus came out hot, the Express weren’t going away so easily and a blind tag by Collier led to a slingshot catapult/missile dropkick combo. Collier locked in the Texas Cloverleaf for the 11th successful title defense in the duo’s reign.

The Dynamite Express d. DeMarcus & Gray via submission, 12:24, D-

As the tag team champions bask in victory walking up the entrance ramp, their eyes catch the attention of the COTT Tag Champs mocking them. The Dynamite Express don’t take too kindly to the Ring Generals mocking and immediately it’s face to face time.

Earnest.
It’s about to be pandemonium in here!

Forthdyke-Hume.
Those Ring Generals better back off Marv!

As they’re about to come to blows, Sam Keith makes his way out and tells the Express to get in the back. The Express aren’t ready to oblige but the Ring Generals back off mocking the Express and Keith before heading back into the crowd, towards their seats.

Earnest.
Cooler heads prevailed tonight, but it’s clear the two teams are on a collision course!

http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y409/joshmancini/Jonah%20Pilgrim_zps4kuolbdt.jpghttp://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y409/joshmancini/Davie%20Renluenn_zpsjq9qqohi.jpghttp://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y409/joshmancini/Andrew%20Harper_zpsh012cwlq.jpg

Andrew Harper is patiently waiting in the ring when Hal Harvard’s music. Harvard comes out with Jonah Pilgrim, and the reigning American champion is wielding microphone. As they make their way down, Harper looks ready to fight. The two stop before reaching the ringside area.

Hal Harvard.
Bad news, bruhs. See, Jonah and I were backstage celebrating my epic win with some super models, some real babes, when my personal doctor came up to me and told me that due to the shortage of blue in my blood stream, I had to take it easy

Earnest.
Blue in the blood stream?

Forthdyke-Hume.
Clearly as Hal is a blue blood, his blood needs to be pure.

Earnest.
Oh give me a break!

Harvard.
Due to my blue blood count being so low, I will need a substitute. That person will take a big step forward tonight!

Harper doesn’t seem entertained as Harvard is backing up the ramp. Jonah Pilgrim hasn’t quite realized what’s going on as Harvard backs up a few more steps.

Harvard.
Wow, Jonah, I had no idea you were going to take that step forward! I mean gosh, if I was not so injured, I would be able to wrestle… But doctors, right?

Earnest.
Like a spoiled fat kid in gym class, Hal Harvard once again refuses to wrestle. This is getting ridiculous Ernest!

Forthdyke-Hume.
You wouldn’t understand, Have you even had your blue blood levels tested?

Earnest.
I think we all know the answer to that ridiculous question!

Rip Chord Invitational Semi-Finals

Andrew Harper vs. Jonah Pilgrim w/ Hal Harvard

Despite Pilgrim’s relative freshness due to being a substitute, Harper was able to match him blow for blow, and beyond as Harper overmatched the younger and smaller Pilgrim, winning with the Spike Slam despite Harvard’s protests.

Andrew Harper d. Jonah Pilgrim via pinfall, 7:19, D-

The former USPW star has taken on the role of Mean Jean Cattley since the departure of Cattley as the veteran threat. This is a good back and forth, speed vs. strength match with the veteran continuing to use his veteran prowess to outhink Wolfe and just as it seems like he has the victory, the announcers mention how there’s seemingly a curse where he cannot get out of the semi-finals of the RCI, losing the past two years to eventual winners Farraday and Gauge. As if on cue, Cheetah Boy tries a flying crossbody only to get caught by the powerful Wolfe and turned into a Running Powerslam.

George Wolfe d. Cheetah Boy via pinfall, 9:57, Running Powerslam

Backstage Greg Gauge is being examined by the Delaware State Athletic commissioner.

Commissioner.
Ready for the fight, champ?

Gauge.
Of course.

Commissioner.
I checked Super Ninja already. He knows the rules. Do you understand the rules?

Gauge.
Yes sir.

Commissioner.
You understand if you lose this match by pinfall or submission, you lose your belt?

Gauge.
I am undefeated in the MAW. That isn’t about to end. Not tonight.

The commissioner signs the clipboard in his hand, nods at Gauge and leaves Gauge alone.

Gauge.
Not for me, but for the legacy.

Earnest.
Fans if you have not seen Super Ninja you are in for a treat! The Japanese phenom is formerly known as Ota, from Total Championship Wrestling, and is a 5 time TCW Cruiserweight champion. Tonight, he looks to add some MAW gold to his collection as he takes on the undefeated, reigning and defending MAW Champion!

This was a decent match as Gauge and Ninja seemingly always deliver, on their own and the crowd was into it, but there was always just something missing to give it that extra bit of attention. Whether it’s because Gauge is a bit too young or Ninja is a bit too old or a combination, the two could never find their flow and too many parts of the match seemed broken. All things considered, it was a great match by MAW standards, that had the right amount of back and forth but there was no doubt in anyone’s mind this was nothing more than a filler until Roderick Remus came back and the two men can continue their feud as the Proton Lock gives Gauge the victory.

Greg Gauge d. Super Ninja via submission, 27:34, D

Greg Gauge is in the ring celebrating with his belt as Jay Fair holds up his arm.

Forthdyke-Hume.
What a paper champion. He defeated Remus on a technicality…

Earnest.
An injury!

Forthdyke-Hume.
…and Roderick Remus who IS the rightful number one contender and rightful champion is out because of that technicality…

Earnest.
Again, injury.

Forthdyke-Hume.
…and this fraud of a champion parades around as if he’s somehow don-

Earnest.
Who the hell is that?

On cue, a massive man takes out Greg Gauge with a huge big boot. Gauge immediately goes limp. Jay Fair goes to check on him, but the larger man shoves Fair aside.

Earnest.
Oh my God, is that Texas Pete Goldman?

The larger man confirms his identity as he hits the patented Lone Star Drop (Inverted Piledriver). Feeling his work is done, he slips out as quick as he came cutting through the crowd.

The finals of the Rip Chord Invitational saw two big sluggers go toe to toe. This was the type of old school action you might see in NYCW, not MAW, but the MAW fans ate it up as it harkened back to the days of Findlay O’Farraday. Not a technical master piece, Harper and Wolfe traded blows back and forth. Wolfe looked like he might pull off the win after hitting the Running Powerslam, but Harper and the crowd wouldn’t allow it as Harper managed to find the bottom rope. This and the crowd getting behind Harper led to a come back and Wolfe just wasn’t able to overcome the momentum as Harper hit the Spike Slam for the victory and his first RCI win.

Andrew Harper d. George Wolfe via pinfall, 14:27, E+

Earnest.
What a win! Andrew Harper makes history winning his first Rip Chord Invitational! Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight you saw a star was born! This is what the Invitational is about and what MAW Wrestling is all about!

Balls to the Wall

“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” - Red Sanders.

The quote is carved above a trophy case in Jay Fair’s personal museum. Here, are trophies both old and new form his own past and his family’s past. Wrestling trophies from his two sons from the NCAA championships they won, a soccer trophy from Jay Fair’s high school days and at the center of the museum, the silver medal from 2016 Rio games from his eldest son Caleb won. I ask Jay if he ever wishes Caleb joined the family business and he scoffs, not replying. He and I had just finished watching the 2016 Rip Chord Invitational, so other matters seemed to be on his mind.

“That show, despite some of the reactions of the crowd, was widely criticized in the IWC [internet Wrestling Community].” Jay is nursing a lemonade in his hand. “I will never forget some of the comments the next day. MAW lost it’s touch, the RCI wasn’t the showcase of the indies, stuff like that. Despite what everyone in the back thought was two solid main events, the tournament itself failed to delivered. And Texas Pete? There’s some days I wish I never hired him.” Jay finishes the rest of his iced tea. “That was not one of them.

“For every bad thing some nerd on the internet said about the show, there was another nerd raving about how Peter Goldman was going to be properly used for once.

I warned him that nerds would probably be reading this book and he shrugged it off.

“Look, I know the type of people who have time to go on message boards and make YouTube videos about wrestling,” Jay remarked, “they’re nerds. Hell, the only reason Fair and Balanced was a podcast for 10 years was because of nerds like you.” Jay laughs as he points to an obscure piece in the museum, a cowboy hat.

“Pete Goldman probably took 10 years of my life from me when he was in MAW, but damn if it didn’t bring 10 more for him. All we did was give the big man confidence to be the star he should have always been. And I’ll never forget a few nights before Wrestling Classic 2016 he sang to me the best advice a man could ever give someone. He sang the entirety to Accept’s Balls to the Wall. And I realized then and there - We need to go balls to the wall.”

Following the heels of one of the most shocking Rip Chord Invitationals ever, MAW looks to continue the amped up action with a night of classic wrestling which will surely entertain all fans of Wrestling as the MAW brings to the Delaware Auditorium, The Wrestling Classic! And the night is going to be filled to the brim with action as there are TWO main events to settle some scores!

In one main event, we will see the
COTT World Champion
Nicolas Lopez defend against the brute Man Mountain Cahill! Who will walk out COTT World Champion?

In the other main event, there was some unfinished business at the Rip Chord Invitational. Greg Gauge has invited The Ring Generals back to the MAW to team alongside him against Texas Pete and the Dynamite Express! The six men meeting will surely be dynamite!

But before we get there, we have some amazing action from all the regulars of the MAW!

The RCI is a hard show to book - take the hit of putting the final as the main event, when it's almost always going to be a so-so match, or put the title match up top and devalue the tournament? I think you have to go with the final - and make up for it the rest of the year!

And Texas Pete in MAW is money :)

I liked that you were willing to have a RCI where guys like Harper and Wofle were the top guys in it rather then bring in the best of the indy stars for the ratings.

Andrew Harper vs. The Architect

Architect looked hyped up in this match but all the hype in the world couldn’t overcome Harper. The Rip Chord Invitational winner struck hard and quick and a Spike Slam was enough to put down the Architect.

Andrew Harper d. The Architect via pinfall, 11:33, D-

As soon as the match is over, George Wolfe hits the ring and looks to go after Harper. Harper is quicker than Wolfe though and escapes the ambush. Harper and Wolfe exchange some words and it looks like the two are about to come to blows when Sam Keith is quickly at ringside, mic in hand.

Sam Keith.
Not tonight you two! The fact is, you two put on a great match at the Invitational. And I understand when the blood is pumping and adrenaline pumping, you just want to trade blows! But that rematch ain’t happening tonight boys, instead let’s make in sanctioned! George Wolfe, Andrew Harper we’ll do it next month at Super Showdown!

Harper eggs on Wolfe once again, but Wolfe chooses to nod instead.

Backstage, in front of the MAW logo the Heartbreak Express and the always stunning Lisa Bowen look more ready for a rock concert than a wrestling match. Bowen drops the sunglasses just enough.

Bowen.
Tonight, the greatest tag team in the Mid Atlantic begins to build the perfect resume to become the greatest tag team in the world.

Needham.
Oh baby, say it.

Bowen.
And as the manager of champions, I know how to guide ANYONE to belts, especially two men suited for stardom.

Liotta.
Indeed.

The three pose awkwardly for flash photography before Bowen beckons the Express to follow her.

Just before talk of the Dynamite Express were named as the next contenders for the COTT Tag Titles, there was talk about them dropping their belts to DeMarcus & Gray and a feud between the new champs and the new express taking place. This match shows promise, but shows it isn’t quite time yet for that trigger to be pulled (even in the Mid Atlantic). The two teams don’t have the backing of the crowd or the backing of solid wrestling fundamentals yet. Despite that, DeMarcus & Gray look to erase last month’s losing fare by taking it to the Heartbreak Express and the more experienced DeMarcus & Gray come out winners after Liotta eats a Rocket Launcher.

DeMarcus & Gray d. The Heartbreak Express via pinfall, 7:40, E+

Earnest.
What a great tag match! We have more great tag action later tonight. The anticipation is thick for tonight’s first main event and both myself and Ernest managed to get a word with the participants. Ernest?

Backstage, in the MAW “Interview Center,” Ernest Forthdyke-Hume is standing with the Dynamite Express and Texas Pete.

Forthdyke-Hume.
I am backstage with the collective of The Dynamite Express and the newest MAW signing Texas Pete. Tonight, you three team up to take on the Ring Generals and Greg Gauge. Thoughts going in?

Collier.
Let me tell you something Ernest, what you have here is not some collective or some hodge podge group, we are a coalition.

Jones.
Yeah baby! This is a coalition which is dedicated to one thing - bringing MAW back to the top. To the top of the wrestling world. Right now? MAW is an embarrassment outside of our tag belts. Who’s coming to our shows to see some second rate wannabe like Greg Gauge? And who from our company is challenging for the COTT World title tonight? No one! Sam Keith had to call up one of the old washups from Hollyweird just to get a name for people to care.

Collier.
That’s why the Coalition has been formed Ernie! And you’re going to have to realize this is true dominance here. The current MAW Tag Champs. Future COTT World Champs. The future of the industry, Cam Jones, Syd Collier and Texas Pete. We are allied for a greater cause.

Forthdyke-Hume.
Pete?

The dominating figure of Texas Pete stares down at Ernest Forthdyke-Hume. He chooses not to speak.

Jones.
Ernie, we know you think you know the truth. Tonight, you will see the entirety of it!

This is a so-so match. Not sure how long Harvard will remain champion or in MAW as he is unlike any other MAW newbie (he’s far too old to spend much time in the company and he won’t develop as much as say his partner Pilgrim) so it’s only a matter of time before he departs, but until then he and Pilgrim have a real entertaining act going on. This match was no different. Pilgrim, Harvard’s servant/bodyguard, always keeps Cheetah at bay whenever the action spills to the outside. Cheetah Boy, being the face, is always ready to go after Pilgrim and this distraction is enough to keep him off his game fully, but the more experienced Cheetah definitely uses that experience to his advantage. Harvard, sensing that he’s about to lose grip though, decides to take his belt and head backstage being counted out for the 10 count.

Cheetah Boy d. Hal Harvard via countout, 12:29, E+, Harvard retains the belt.

Hal Harvard is running almost full speed now and Jonah Pilgrim is hot on his heels. Finally Pilgrim catches up to Harvard in a special locker room designated for the two. The two duck in and Harvard locks the door. He and Pilgrim move the couch inside to the door to barricade.

Pilgrim.
That was close. But we escaped with the gold boss!

Hal Harvard looks too shocked to react as he is staring in a different direction. Pilgrim looks and he too is shocked. The camera pans…

The man stares at both men.

Unknown.
I am the Malaikat and soon you will atone for your sins.

The lights begin to flicker before going off.

Harvard.
PUT THE LIGHTS BACK ON JONAH.

After some fumbling noises and grunting, the lights go on. Both Pilgrim and Harvard are left alone. On the wall, “Atonement” is written.

Forthdyke-Hume.
What the hell is going on back there and where is Sam Keith??

Backstage, once again in the MAW “Interview Center,” Marvin Earnest is standing by with Greg Gauge, Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler.

Earnest.
I’m here with the MAW champion Greg Gauge and COTT Tag Team champions the Ring Generals. Gentlemen, tonight you both get to settle some unfinished business from last month’s Invitational. First, Ring Generals - we saw the MAW tag champs confront you both after their successful defense. Are we going to see a champions vs. champions match in the near future?

Statler.
Dean and I went to the COTT championship committee and BEGGED them to let us have at the MAW tag champs tonight and they told us no.

Waldorf.
Mmmmm….

Statler.
So instead, we’ll wipe the ring with those two wannabes here tonight with our good friend Greg.

Waldorf.
Mmmhhhmmmm.

Statler.
But I’ll tell you what, the second the committee approves our title defense against those two clowns, we will be making sure they regret ever getting in our face!

Earnest.
Now, Greg, as we saw last month Texas Pete Goldman ambushed you after a successful title match. Any idea why?

Gauge.
Well let me tell you something Marv, last month I saw the highs and the lows of the professional wrestling industry. I stood victorious with the MAW belt above my head and I saw the lows as I stared up at the lights after being viciously attacked by that giant and I know two things that my daddy taught me - you make what you will of the experiences you get in the squared circle, and you only tap out to fight another day. Well, I’m here to fight another Day Marv. I don’t know what Pete’s motive was, but I do know that tonight I’m going to lock him in the Proton Lock and force it out of him!

By all means this was the true main event of the show. The crowd was HOT for this match and despite being a six man, there was great ring work to be displayed. Texas Pete was correctly used to, only for big power spots, never looking weak and never in there for more than 30-45 seconds at a time. The majority of the match was the Express wearing down a face, before a hot tag which was always disrupted by Pete. Smart booking. Of course the crowd was hot for Gauge and Pete, but every time it seemed to come, there was an issue. Referee Jay Fair didn’t see a tag or there was a blind tag on Gauge coming off the ropes. It was just enough to get the fans ready for the eventual showdown…

The ending was, to quote Marvin Earnest, “pandemonium!~” All six men brawling, the legal men being Pete and Statler, but no one was quite sure. A proton lock on Syd Collier led to a missile dropkick from Cam Jones, which opened Jones up for the Wheelbarrow Bomb, which led to a big boot on Waldorf sending him out, leaving Pete and Statler. Statler, more concerned about his partner than the giant Texas Pete, ate the Lone Star Drop for a heel victory.

Texas Pete & The Dynamite Express d. Greg Gauge & The Ring Generals via pinfall, 21:08, C-.

Of course the match being over doesn’t mean the war is as soon as the bell ring, it’s a pier six brawl. The Dynamite Express begin to work over the downed Statler until Waldorf comes in and Gauge and Texas Pete are exchanging blows. The crowd is eating it up as the bell rings. Jay Fair is in the ring shouting, but no one pays him any mind. Another referee makes his way out to help Fair as he goes over to Gauge and Pete… and begins to help Pete pummel Gauge.

Earnest.
Wait a minute, that’s no damn referee! That’s Roderick Remus.

Forthdyke-Hume.
The rightful MAW champion is back from his injury!

Earnest.
Did you know about this? The Dynamite Express hinted you might!

Forthdyke-Hume.
My sources remain anonymous Marv. What I know is none of your concern!

The 4-on-3 numbers game is too much for the faces to keep up with and a few big boots later, it’s just Gauge and the four heels. Gauge is trying to fight, but he’s being held back by the Dynamite Express as Remus has a microphone.

Roderick Remus.
Oh it’s been a long few months on the sidelines Gregory. You see, at Where It All Begins Again you gave me a concussion. The concussion was so bad, I had to miss 3 months. THREE MONTHS GREGORY! Three months where you pranced around with my belt. Three months where I was told to sit idly by and wait. But I couldn’t do that. I’m the best in the business. The genius of pro wrestling. That’s why last month I had to remind you who ran this place. Not you or your daddy but ME! The rightful MAW Champion. I held the belt for 365 consecutive days! I should still have the belt but you cheap shotted me, and Jay Fair turned a blind eye to your heinous use of the exposed turnbuckle!

Earnest.
He was the one who untied the corner turnbuckle!

Remus.
But that’s okay Gregory. You see I’m back and with me I have The Coalition. The Coalition to return the MAW to its glory days. And you? Your time is up.

On cue, Texas Pete unleashed a HUGE big boot to Greg Gauge. He picks Gauge up and connects with a Lone Star Drop for the second month in a row, leaving Gauge staring at the lights.

A video plays hyping Nicolas Lopez vs. Man Mountain Cahill. Clips from their respective promotions [OLLIE & NYCW] are shown to give an idea who’s about to wrestle.

There were definitely some fans in attendance just to see this match and hopefully that led to some new MAW fans but as far as MAW was concerned, this was a subpar match. The two men had no chemistry at all and while it was cool to see the COTT World title on the show, it did nothing for MAW other than pull in a few extra dollars perhaps. The ending came when Cahill hit the Mountain Topper on Lopez.

Man Mountain Cahill d. Nicolas Lopez via pinfall, 18:03, D-

[Thanks for all the kind words! It's been a couple years since my previous MAW dynasty which school and a broken computer interrupted, so I am glad y'all are enjoying. Just a heads up, we will see if we can get this next show up in before the weekend. I am getting married Saturday and honeymoon all next week, so hopefully I can, if not... well I am bringing the laptop with me on the plane. Also, beginning on this show I will be tracking predictions from now until Fan Festival (4 shows total) with the winner getting to pick a new signing to debut at the Battle for the Mid Atlantic.]

So Come on, come on, Baby, I'm buying. I got enough to last us all night and You got the kiss that tastes like honey And I got a little beer money

Outside of Waco, TX is a piece of land that stretches as far as the eyes can see. It’s a cow pasture, and the smell is evident. Still, a beautiful sight. It was my first time on Texas Pete’s Milk Ranch, as it was oddly named, but it certainly was one of the best. It was October 12, 2024. The barns and farmhouse were decorated for halloween. Texas Pete Goldman, who should’ve been retired years before due to his alcoholism, had just finally hung up his hat and used his money to buy the ranch.

“Believe it or not,” Pete begins, “It was the money I earned after MAW helped buy me this farm. MAW is a place of rehab for guys who’s careers were screwed over by their habits. And I was the first test dummy. It became abundantly clear that I had to shape up or ship out too. My third show, I came out and wrestled in a tag match and, to be honest, I remember the interview…”

Bobby Thomas echoed the same story in his home a few years later on a podcast with me. Since retiring and becoming a trainer, Thomas is a lot more relaxed these days.

“Oh Jesus Christ,” Bobby exasperated on the air. “That big bastard could barely keep himself up when he was on the apron. Thankfully Remus caught that quickly and kept him out there.”

“Yeah,” Pete continued, “I was in a bad place. It wasn’t quite rock bottom, but here I was opening up in the Mid Atlantic. I should have been a star, even a champion at this point. I look back on the past sometimes and wonder what could have been? Thank God that Jay Fair gave me a second chance.

“Drunkenness aside,” remarked Bobby on the podcast, “MAW was supposed to breed the future. But Jay Fair has this balls to the wall approach. It’s why he brought me in. He wanted to help draw, and that first show I was there I almost quit that night.”

Years later I reminisced with Jay about the infamous match that made the dirtsheets go nuts. To Jay’s credit, he laughed.

“It wasn’t the last time though,” Jay remarked, “but he was taught lessons very soon from that moment on.”

Super Showdown looks to be a show of epic proportions truly captivating the name of the show. While doctors have not cleared MAW champion Greg Gauge (meaning no MAW title defense) there is quite a show for anyone coming out to the Delaware Auditorium this weekend! The COTT Tag Team champions and MAW tag champions are finally getting to meet in the squared circle as the Ring Generals and the Dynamite Express both put their belts up forgrabs in a champions vs. champions match!

Also previously announced, George Wolfe and Andrew Harper get their rematch against each other from the Rip Chord Invitational finals. Harper, who’s been on a rip since debuting, is proving to be the more dominant brawler but George Wolfe, the resident brawler of MAW, has something to say about that.

Roderick Remus & Texas Pete vs. Bobby Thomas & Josh Jones

The announcers summed up why Bobby Thomas formerly of the Specialists was in MAW, he was giving trials to the young wrestlers of MAW to join him up north as a new member of the Specialists. Unfortunately, it does seem like Josh Jones is that lucky wrestler as Remus seemingly singlehandedly took care of Thomas and Jones as Pete stood in the corner. A big boot to Jones from Pete and a huge brainbuster by Remus to Thomas signals the end of this one.

Remus & Pete d. Thomas & Jones via pinfall, 7:58, D-

Roderick Remus.
Gregory Gauge is of course missing tonight. Doctors declared him unfit to compete after being defeated at the hands of the Coalitions last month and that’s a shame Gregory. As you saw tonight, I am at the peak of physical condition and if given the chance you would have been on your back for the third month in a row. It’s a good thing for you though. It’s a good thing your daddy runs this place Gregory. But I know contracts, and I know I am owed a title shot. Your daddy cannot save you and so next month, at Americana, I’m cashing that title shot in. You and me, Gregory, and I know you will be staring at the lights.

Earnest.
Big words with his opponent nowhere insight.

Forthdyke-Hume.
Oh but it was okay the entire time the champ was away for Gauge to do that to him?

Earnest.
Good grief, does he have you on the payroll?

Forthdyke-Hume.
No but speaking of the payroll, backstage we join the newest member of the MAW payroll, Face Nelson with the greatest MAW American champion of all time, Hal Harvard.

Face Nelson, MAW’s newest interviewer of talent, is standing in the interview center with both Hal Harvard and Jonah Pilgrim. The Frat Pack looks pumped.

Nelson.
Thank you Ernest. I’m here with the Frat Pack. Hal Harvard, the reigning MAW American champion, the world has one question for you - what are you to do with the unknown man who is calling himself the Malaikat?

Harvard.
What did you say? Jonah, did he just ask me about that THUG who attacked us last week?

Pilgrim.
It sounded like it, boss!

Harvard.
Last month, that was thuggery FACE. What in the world do you think asking me a question like that? I don’t know who the Alley Cat thinks he is-

Pilgrim.
It’s actually pronounced Malaikat, boss.

Harvard.
Alley Cat. Mogwai Cat, I don’t give a crap cat Jonah. The point is, I don’t know who he thinks he is but I am a MAW superstar and if Sam Keith can’t control his nutty fans, then next time I see him I’ll be sure to let Jonah loose on him. Then after that, I’ll sick the best lawyers money can buy on him and Sam Keith. That’ll show them!

The Frat Pack storm off, angrily.

Nelson.
Uh… Does he not know that The Malaikat signed an MAW contract last month?

The camera pans over.

http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/y409/joshmancini/Hardcore%20Killah_alt_zpsa33giee2.jpg

Not sure who Trix Triumph pissed off, but he came out to the ring under a cardboard box that had the words “TIME MACHINE” in black magic marker. Once he got outside of the ring, he busted through the box with a paper MAW American belt shouting “I’VE COME FROM THE FUTURE WHERE I AM THE CHAMP!” The crowd laughed it up, but that was about as much as the crowd would get into this match. Triumph however almost had his future come true as he was ready to connect with a frog splash from the top rope, but Jonah Pilgrim got involved shoving Triumph off, leading to a Hal Harvard Forward Russian Legsweep for defense number four of his American title.

Hal Harvard d. Trix Triumph via pinfall, 9:02, E+

As soon as the bell rings, Jonah Pilgrim is in the ring and the Frat Pack is giving the boots to Trix Triumph. Triumph simply has no shot of overcoming the odds, not alone at least.

On cue, The Malaikat hits the ring. Pilgrim is clotheslined over the top rope. The Malakait turns his attention to Harvard, but Pilgrim has already pulled him out saving his boss from being touched. The three men exchange words.

Bryan Holmes making his debut against The Architect. The Architect looked to make a statement against the 27 year veteran but the more experienced Holmes simply outclassed the Architect chalking up the W after connecting with the Final Impact.

Bryan Holmes d. The Architect via pinfall, D, 9:40

Nelson.
I’m here in the MAW Interview Center with the MAW Tag Team champions. Gentlemen, tonight you put your belts on the line against the Ring Generals. Are the nerves finally starting to show?

Collier.
Nerves? Nerves?? Where have you been Face? This is just another moment for the Coalition to make its mark. Did you see Remus and Pete earlier?

Jones.
Yeah baby! The Coalition is making MAW great again and we started the night with a vic-tour-eeee and we certainly will end it with one.

Collier.
Face, last month I declared that we are the future of this professional wrestling industry. This month? I won’t make any such declarations on this microphone. Rather, I’ll let our ring work do it for us.

This was very much a repeat of their last match, with a wild brawl taking precedence over any type of classical technical wrestling. It was clear the two were trying to one up with clubbing blow after clubbing blow. As soon as the match spilled to ringside however, it did not bode well for Wolfe as Harper was the more experienced with the outside environment. Harper practically destroyed Wolfe on the outside, despite the pleas of Jay Fair. After ignoring multiple warnings, Harper connected with a powerbomb through the ringside announce table and Jay Fair immediately called for the bell, disqualifying Harper.

George Wolfe d. Andrew Harper via DQ, 12:54, E+

The Ring Generals are on their way to the ring, and we go picture-in-picture to a brief promo they cut prior to their match.

Statler.
Dean, did you see that those boys were running their mouth again?

Waldorf.
Mmhmm..

Statler.
It’s insane with a couple of good southern boys can think they can do when they dream. But you see, this ain’t a dream boys. This is reality. This is real life. This is the COTT World Tag Team championships and boys? We don’t bow down easily.

Waldorf.
Mmmm.

Statler.
That’s why tonight, Coalition or no Coalition, future or no future, hope or no hope - tonight you both will be wondering what hit you. And then you will realize it was the greatest team from the 773 since Al Capone and Meyer Lansky.

A fundamental tag team match which saw every tag team trick come out, from face-in-peril and cheating heels, to hot tags and double teams the matchup was made of something that should define tag team wrestling - fluid movement between partners. Both teams looked top notch in this one looking to outdo the other team, and as the match went on it looked like the Ring Generals were going to come out on top…

Until the appearance of Roderick Remus. While Remus didn’t get into the ring or interfere, he did throw something to Syd Collier while Jay Fair was distracted. Collier connected a left hook to Waldorf, Statler was taken off the apron by Remus and a Chop and Change later, we have new COTT tag team champions.

The Dynamite Express d. The Ring Generals via pinfall, 27:26, D

The show closes out with 3 of the 4 Coalition members standing victorious.

Earnest.
This does not look good for MAW.

Forthdyke-Hume.
No it looks great! For Marv Earnest, I’m Ernest Forthdyke-Hume saying welcome to the new era of MAW Wrestling, the great era! Good night!

The Heartbreak Express w/ Lisa Bowen vs. The Ring Generals

Anyone who thought this was going to be a competitive match was wrong. This was a match to regain momentum for the Ring Generals after two shows of being on the losing end and they took advantage of the squash, showing some of their best double team moves. Match over after Johnny Needham eats a Wheelbarrow Bomb.

The Ring Generals d. The Heartbreak Express via pinfall, 3:57, D-

The commentary team was joined by Hal Harvard, who did nothing but run down the Malaikat. This did not matter though as the Malaikat simply plowed through Ade Nelson in squash fashion, defeating him with the Angelic Drop DDT [Double Arm DDT].

The Malaikat d. Ade Nelson via pinfall, 5:38, E-

Backstage in the MAW interview center, Face Nelson is with the Dynamite Express, the COTT and MAW tag team champions.

Nelson.
Gentlemen, last month you managed to sneak one over the Ring Generals, cheating to win the COTT belts.

Collier.
Slow your jets, Face. I don’t know what you’re talking about or who you think you are.

Nelson.
Last month when Roderick Remus interfered…?

Jones.
That was just bad luck for the Muppet Babies, Face. Roderick was cheering his friends on and ole Waldorf took a mean left hook from Syd here.

Collier does some fake shadow boxing to emphasize the point.

???.
We clearly saw something was thrown.

Stepping from off camera is none other than MAW owner Sam Keith.

Keith.
And as far as I’m concerned, that my friends is a good reason to give the Ring Generals a rematch next month for the MAW belts at Old School Rules. That is if you two can keep the belts tonight. Speaking of tonight - let me make this very clear. If any member of the Coalition interferes in either title match, all four members will be suspended and stripped of any belts they possess.

The Dynamite Express looks furious but before they can retort…

Keith.
Oh and your match is next, so you might want to head on out champs.

The search continues for Bobby Thomas for a partner in the states. The opponents of the Dynamite Express however might not have been the right choice for Bobby Thomas and Miller Fforde to try their luck against as the experience of the Express is more than Fforde and Thomas could handle as Fforde falls victim to Syd Collier’s Texas Cloverleaf.

The Dynamite Express d. Thomas & Fforde via submission, 10:02, D

Nelson.
Champ, tonight you have possibly one of the toughest challenges ahead of you - fighting the former MAW champion Roderick Remus. And while your father may have banned the Coalition from interfering, you have to believe that Remus has some tricks up his sleeve.

Gauge.
Do I think Roderick Remus has something up his sleeve? Of course I do, Face. I mean, we are talking about a man who is obsessed with this belt, with what this belt represents… But that’s the difference between Roderick and I. See, I am not obsessed with this belt. Rather I live for it. Every day I live and breathe is for this belt. And whether I lose or win tonight, I will still champion the values of this championship. The sad thing is, Roderick will never do the same. He is not a man of integrity or value… His obsession drives him deeper and deeper… Roderick Remus would do anything to win this belt, but he doesn’t realize I am ready to go beyond that. This belt is not an accessory or a desire, it is simply my life.

Bryan Holmes is officially gate keeper in this match welcoming newcomer Mercury on an excursion from Japan into the company. The match goes as expected, a quick squash for Holmes with Mercury getting a spot or two to show what he’s capable of. Final Impact connects for Holmes to end this one.

Bryan Holmes d. Mercury via pinfall, 3:51, D

Earnest.
Texas Pete has been dominating since coming into the MAW but so has his opponent tonight, Andrew Harper. Infact, both men have been undefeated since coming to the company so something will give tonight.

Forthdyke-Hume.
Andrew Harper biting off a bit more than he can chew, it’ll be great when he tucks his tail between his leg and heads ba-

Earnest.
Sorry Ernest, we have to cut you off there’s a ruckus backstage.

Backstage Andrew Harper and George Wolfe are brawling, each one trying to one up each other with weapons and attacks. Both are already bloodied. Wolfe, however, seems to have the advantage.

Earnest.
What in the world! Folks, it looks as if George Wolfe and Andrew Harper haven’t stopped their fight from last month in which Andrew Harper put George Wolfe through a table!

Forthdyke-Hume.
Someone better stop it, Harper has a match still!

Earnest.
I’m getting word that Harper and Wolfe are both going to be suspended for this show and Harper will be replaced in this next match!

Cheetah Boy was surprisingly the replacement for Andrew Harper and he showed up to wrestle as he and Pete really looked good together, even though Pete looked a bit drunk. The two simply had chemistry. However, Cheetah Boy was still no match for Texas Pete, drunk or not, as a Lone Star Drop was enough to put Cheetah Boy away.

Texas Pete d. Cheetah Boy via pinfall, 9:59, D-

A good matchup between the champ and the challenge that saw why these two are both future stars in the major leagues as they told a story with their match, albeit a short match. These two need to work an iron man match some day, but I’m sure Jay Fair fears the day an iron man match is worked with these two as somebody like NOTBPW or TCW will snatch them up immediately. Regardless, great solid storytelling match.

Greg Gauge looked like he had the victory too. He was controlling the match and had Remus struggling to win. Remus was laid out in the middle of the ring when Greg Gauge went to the top rope…

Earnest.
Is that a fan?

Someone pushed the champion off of the top, sending him crashing to the mat. This was enough for Remus to lock in the Remus Clutch, forcing referee Jay Fair to call for the bell as Gauge was in no condition to get out of the hold.

Roderick Remus d. Greg Gauge via submission, 16:07, D+

Earnest.
That’s no fan…

Forthdyke-Hume.
That’s Remington Remus, Roderick’s twin brother!

The two twins hold the MAW belt high as the show faded to logo.

<p>Saw the title of this diary. Didn't expect anything due to its overwhelming lack of creativity. Read through the first show. Realised that diary titles don't say anything about the diary's quality.</p><p> </p><p>

I was into your take on MAW from the first show on, especially because of the Gauge vs. Remus storyline. You set that up perfectly for your readers. I also really like your general concept, with important figures of the past of MAW talking about what happened in 2016. It's refreshing for me, and it's very fun to read.</p><p> </p><p>

All in all, this is a great diary so far. Count me in as a follower.</p>

The show begins with
. Unlike most shows, which start with a match, it seems Old School Rules is going to start with the Coalition spreading some of their ideology for the masses… Roderick Remus, Remington Remus, Texas Pete and the Dynamite Express all stand in the ring, gold everywhere.

Forthdyke-Hume.
This is the real pride of the Mid Atlantic Marv. Look at these boys, champions. A coalition to create a better MAW!

Earnest.
Give me a break.

Roderick Remus, the MAW champion, has the microphone in hand and it looks like he is going to be the one to kick it off.

Roderick Remus.
Once again I have managed to outwit Sam Keith and his son Gregory simply by thinking ahead. Last month, Sam gave us a grave warning.

The Dynamite Express feign fear at this comment.

Roderick.
See, Sam told my brothers in arms that if any four members of the Coalition interfered, we would be suspended and stripped of our belts. The funny thing is, last month Remy wasn’t a member of the coalition. He was just an announcer from Rhode Island, scouting some talent for the big leagues. That is, until he saw someone else cheating.

Earnest.
What? The champ-

Forthdyke-Hume.
Former champ.

Earnest.
-was not cheating last month and if he were, Jay Fair would’ve called him out.

Remington Remus.
I saw you had illegal bootlaces on your boots last month. Now the announce team here or the referees here in the Mid Atlantic might not have seen it, but I guess that’s why I was brought in - to make sure MAW gets better. The Coalition to create a better Mid Atlantic needs eyes all around.

Cameron Jones.
That’s right baby! And the Coalition, with all these sexy gold on us, is looking unstoppable.

Syd Collier.
Unbreakable.

Jones.
Untouchable.

Collier.
Unbeatable!

Jones.
Yeah baby!

Collier.
That’s why tonight we’re looking to go undefeated - battle royal win with Big Pete, MAW title win with Roderick, tag title win with the greeeeeatest tag team in the history of professional wrestling…

Jones.
Yeah baby! Ring Generals, we’re going to teach you to go back home to New York where you belong. You’re looking at the future of tag wrestling. the COTT and MAW tag team champions!

Roderick.
No chance anyone walks out of here with a win over the Coalition. We will make the Mid Atlantic a better place to live, a better place to work and a better place to wrestle. I guar-

Before Roderick can finish, the crowd pops Motörhead’s Ace of Spaces begins to play, meaning only one man could be coming out…

The MAW owner Sam Keith. Keith looks pumped to be out here, and while he’s 30 years their elder, no one in the Coalition except Texas Pete seems willing to confront Keith.

Keith.
Let me tell you boys something about what’s been going on here in the Mid Atlantic. The past few months I’ve heard you boys running your mouths, rambling about a better Mid Atlantic. A Mid Atlantic for the future. A Mid Atlantic to live in. And while, for you five punks that might be fine…

Texas Pete doesn’t take too kindly to being called a punk and gets closer to Sam Keith.

Keith.
You might be bigger and younger than me Pete, but I’ve taken guys down with twice your IQ and twice your ability so unless you want a Proton Lock, you best be backing down. Now as I was saying, you five punks might think you’re improving things around here - I cannot help but notice the opposite is true. It seems as if you five think your rules overrule MY rules. After all this is my ring. So, it’s time to take some order and control, so here’s how it’s going down. As you know Roderick, your match tonight is for the belt against my son Greg. 2/3 falls. Good luck. That’s all I have to say.

Keith continues looking at the tag champs.

Keith.
To prove I’m not some biased prick of a boss, let me give you boys some motivation. Syd, Cam, if you manage to defeat the Ring Generals tonight, I will personally make sure they never come back into an MAW ring again. After all, if they can’t compete with you, what’s the point in keeping them around?

The crowd isn’t too happy with this but the Dynamite Express sure are.

Keith.
But if you lose, you will forfeit your mandatory rematch clause until you give the Ring Generals a shot at those COTT belts.

The crowd pops, with the idea of a future titles vs. titles match coming up.

Remington.
Anything else old man? We have some more important business to tend to.

Keith.
Of course. See Remington, whether it’s you or Gregory that wins tonight, at Fan Festival you two will not be fighting each other. No, instead I’ve decided that you’ll both be partnering up next month against a team that I see fit with the winners earning a bid into the Sam Keith Classic. One of the members of that team will be decided tonight in the 20 Man Battle Royal. With that being said, Pete? In the interest of fairness, you’re banned from that match. In fact, seeing as you don’t have a match tonight… Security!

On cue, guards hit the ring to grab Texas Pete. Pete doesn’t look too pleased as the guards try and pull him away. The Remus twins simply nod at Pete to go. The Coalition doesn’t look too pleased however at the announcements as Keith leaves. As the Coalition is about to leave, the Ring Generals make their way out with referee Jay Fair signaling the start of the first match.

To make up for the long angle oriented beginning, it seems that MAW wants to award their fans with great tag team wrestling. One of the amazing thing about these two teams is that they exemplify tag team wrestling in such an old school way, with both teams looking like tag wrestlers. This is the route MAW needs to go with, including in the Sam Keith Classic. Good, old fashioned tag wrestling. Elevate the tag division to something beyond what the big leagues make it out to be.

With that being said, this match had all the basics of tag wrestling and it was quite intereting to see the two teams work without a face-in-peril but rather with the classic cheating tropes. Ironically, one of those tropes would be used by the Generals when Dean Waldorf faked a tag into the ring by clapping his hands behind Jay Fair’s back. Cameron Jones tried to argue there was no legal tag but Jay Fair wanted nothing to do with it and a Wheelbarrow Bomb and clothesline to Cam Jones later and we have new tag team champions.

The Ring Generals d. The Dynamite Express via pinfall, 20:32, D

This was not the match that it was built up to be. Harper and Wolfe simply destroyed each other with weapons and the MAW crowd, while caring about it, quickly saw through it. Harper and Wolfe both have potential to be big names in this industry, and their three showings against each other will soon be the exception as opposed to the rule. Harper easily wins this one putting Wolfe through an announcer’s table and perhaps settling the feud once and for all.

Andrew Harper d. George Wolfe via pinfall & 10 count, 7:18, E+

Backstage in the interview center, Face Nelson is standing by with Hal Harvard and Jonah Pilgrim.

Nelson.
Hal Harvard - tonight you finally step into the ring with the Malaikat, the man who has been following you around threatening to make you pay for the evil you have done. Are you ready to face the behemoth of a man?

Hal Harvard laughs.

Harvard.
Oh Face. I hate to disappoint you and the hundreds in attendance here to see the greatest wrestler on the North American continent, but I am afraid I have some bad news. As you know, last month I joined the announce team to announce the Malaikat’s debut match and a funny thing happened. I actually injured my vocal chords during the match and my doctor has not cleared me to wrestle unfortunately.

Nelson.
So does this mean you forfeit?

Harvard.
Of course not. While there will be no MAW American championship match tonight, my trusty aide Jonah Pilgrim will be a stand in and give the Malaikat the lesson I personally wanted to give him to send him back to whatever God forsaken place he came from. Isn’t that right Jonah?

Pilgrim.
That’s right boss. Oh gee, I’m so terribly thankful for this opportunity to impress you sir! I hope I do not disappoint.

Harvard.
Put this clown out of our misery and trust me, you will not disappoint me buddy.

This was nothing more than a glorified squash match, much like last month, allowing the Malaikat a chance to show what he can do. Nothing impressive again as Malaikat is able to pick up the win easily with the Angelic Drop DDT.

The Malaikat d. Jonah Pilgrim via pinfall, 5:35, E

BATTLE ROYAL TIME

Unlike most Battle Royals, this battle royal had time entrances spread apart at 1 minute a piece. The first two participants would be “All Business” Bobby Thomas and Tyrone Gray. The two started it off with a simple, yet effective brawl. No monkey business quite yet.

Bobby Thomas - 1:00

Tyrone Gray - 1:00

Mercury is #3

Mercury, the newcomer from Japan, is the 3rd entrant and his lucha libre style adds a bit of flair to the match as he bounces between Thomas and Gray before entry #4 makes his way out.

Bobby Thomas - 2:00

Tyrone Gray - 2:00

Mercury - 1:00

Keith Vegas is #4

Keith Vegas comes rushing down with a headful of steam. The Prince of the Pre-Show, as some loyal fans have dubbed Vegas, sees an opportunity as he attempts to help Thomas eliminate Mercury. This only backfires on Vegas of course causing the Prince of the Pre-Show to be the first eliminated at
0:33
. It is once against Thomas, Gray and Mercury.

Bobby Thomas - 3:00

Tyrone Gray - 3:00

Mercury -2:00

Johnny Needham is #5

A pattern is forming has the third tag specialist makes his way out. One half of the Heartbreak Express, Needham sees no need for alliances quite yet as he tries and take it all 3 men. This would be backfire, except for entry #6…

Bobby Thomas - 4:00

Tyrone Gray - 4:00

Mercury -3:00

Johnny Needham -1:00

Ralph Liotta is entry #6

The other half of the Heartbreak Express comes out. With the idea the winner could possibly be a step closer to the Sam Keith Classic, the Express begin to team up and send Mercury over the top rope to become the second elimination at
3:23
.

Bobby Thomas - 5:00

Tyrone Gray - 5:00

Johnny Needham -2:00

Ralph Liotta -1:00

JD Morgan is entry #7

The crowd nearly loses it as the indy icon JD Morgan makes his way out. The nearly 30 year vet wastes no time sending both members of the Heartbreak Express over the top rope with a double clothesline, eliminating both at
2:12
and
1:13
respectively. He goes over to Tyrone Gray as Bobby Thomas wisely ducks out of sight.

Bobby Thomas - 6:00

Tyrone Gray - 6:00

JD Morgan -1:00

Ade Nelson is entry #8

Ade Nelson comes flying into the ring and looks to take out Morgan, but he is powerbombed out of the ring for his trouble, being eliminated quicker than Keith Vegas at a mere
0:12
. Gray attempts to eliminate Morgan after the powerbomb, but fails to and he is holding on for dear life…

Bobby Thomas - 7:00

Tyrone Gray - 7:00

JD Morgan - 2:00

Nate DeMarcus is entry #9

The Rhode Island native comes rushing down to help his partner Tyrone Gray from being eliminated. The two begin to work on Morgan together and this allows Bobby Thomas a chance to help as it’s now a 3-on-1 assault on the veteran.

Bobby Thomas - 8:00

Tyrone Gray - 8:00

JD Morgan - 3:00

Nate DeMarcus - 1:00

Bryan Holmes is entry #10

The other veteran comes out to help his fellow former DAVE champion and the two nod at each other out of respect. The two vets and Demarcus & Gray begin to exchange blows as Thomas wisely backs up towards the ropes…

Bobby Thomas - 9:00

Tyrone Gray - 9:00

JD Morgan - 4:00

Nate DeMarcus - 2:00

Bryan Holmes -1:00

Miller Fforde is entry #11

…right into Miller Fforde. The two who partnered just recently begin exchanging blows as Marv Earnest wisely quips that it seems Bobby Thomas was not too happy about Fforde’s performance.

Bobby Thomas - 10:00

Tyrone Gray - 10:00

JD Morgan - 5:00

Nate DeMarcus - 3:00

Bryan Holmes - 2:00

Miller Fforde - 1:00

The Architect is entry #12

The Architect is the next to enter the fray, but rather than jumping into the ring with six men exchanging blows, he sticks to the outside waiting.

Bobby Thomas - 11:00

Tyrone Gray - 11:00

JD Morgan - 6:00

Nate DeMarcus - 4:00

Bryan Holmes - 3:00

Miller Fforde - 2:00

The Architect - 1:00

Trix Triumph is entry #13

The Time Traveling Trix Triumph has run out in his cardboard time machine. However, before he can do anything, The Architect has seen his time to strike. He attacks Triumph inside the time machine. He connects with the Blueprint (Death Valley Driver) on the outside before rolling Triumph into the ring by the feet of JD Morgan. Morgan, who just laid out Tyrone Gray with a clothesline, makes easy work of Triumph
0:45
. This would be enough time however for Tyrone Gray to hit a BEAUTIFUL moonsault dropkick to Morgan eliminating Morgan at
6:50
. The Architect slips into the ring unnoticed as Morgan looks obviously upset.

Bobby Thomas - 12:00

Tyrone Gray - 12:00

Nate DeMarcus - 5:00

Bryan Holmes - 4:00

Miller Fforde - 3:00

The Architect - 2:00

Bradley Blaze is entry #14

Gray, celebrating his elimination, doesn’t see Bobby Thomas come up from behind eliminating him at
12:01
. This allows JD Morgan to get his much desired revenge hitting a lariat that sends Gray nearly out of his boots. Whether intentional or not, DeMarcus comes flying over the top rope to take out Morgan, eliminating himself at
5:25
and is quickly joined by Bryan Holmes at
4:45
as the four men continue their earlier brawl on the outside.

Bobby Thomas - 13:00

Miller Fforde - 4:00

The Architect - 3:00

Bradley Blaze - 1:00

Hal Harvard is entry #15

Earnest.
I thought he was too injured to wrestle?

Forthdyke-Hume.
It’s a miracle!

Bradley Blaze takes the fight to Harvard as Thomas and Fforde are trying to eliminate each other. The Architect, seeing the opportunity, rests patiently away from the action…

Bobby Thomas - 14:00

Miller Fforde - 5:00

The Architect - 4:00

Bradley Blaze - 2:00

Hal Harvard - 1:00

Deuce Deadline is entry #16

Deuce Deadline makes his way out, but much like the Architect he has no desire to go one on one. Rather the two begin to work together, attacking Miller Fforde from behind essentially making a 3-on-1 situation. Fforde is easy pickings and eliminated at
5:25
. The newly found alliance of Thomas, Architect and Deadline quickly turn their attention to Bradley Blaze creatine a 4-on-1 situation…

Bobby Thomas - 15:00

The Architect - 5:00

Bradley Blaze - 3:00

Hal Harvard - 2:00

Deuce Deadline - 1:00

Cheetah Boy is entry #17

Earnest.
Here’s my pick to win the whole thing!

Forthdyke-Hume.
Of course it is…

Cheetah Boy is quick to hit the ring and begins to use his speed to take out the alliance. A hurricanrana over the top to Deuce Deadline sends him packing
[1:21]
and he follows it up with a top rope dropkick to the Architect.
[5:35]
This evens things out as it’s now Thomas, Blaze, Harvard and Cheetah Boy.

Bobby Thomas - 16:00

Bradley Blaze - 4:00

Hal Harvard - 3:00

Cheetah Boy - 1:00

Copperhead is entry #18

Copperhead is entry number 18. Bobby Thomas takes this opportunity to withdraw once again from the match as Cheetah and Copperhead exchange blows. Blaze is almost eliminated by Harvard, but Harvard can’t pull the trigger on the elimination.

Bobby Thomas - 17:00

Bradley Blaze - 5:00

Hal Harvard - 4:00

Cheetah Boy - 2:00

Copperhead - 1:00

Josh Jacobs is entry #19

Earnest.
What an opportunity for Josh Jacobs here!

Forthdyke-Hume.
To break records!

0:07
is all it took for Jacobs to be eliminated by Bobby Thomas. The brawls continue. Harvard is next out at
4:33
when Bradley Blaze manages to throw him over. Copperhead isn’t too quick to last either as his feet meet the floor at
1:45
when Cheetah Boy sends him over with an amazing springboard frankensteiner. This leaves a final four of Bobby Thomas [nearly 18 minutes], Bradley Blaze, Cheetah Boy and entrant number 20…

GO.

“Just Close Your Eyes” By Bedlam’s Gate begins to play and the crowd has no idea how to react as the 20th entrant steps out from the back…

rocking a Hawaiian shirt and smoking a cigarello…

Bobby Thomas - 18:00

Bradley Blaze - 6:00

Cheetah Boy - 3:00

John Green is entry #20

Blaze and Cheetah Boy seem absolutely shocked and Bobby Thomas uses Greed’s surprise entry as a chance to eliminate Bradley Blaze WHO HOLDS ON BY HIS FINGER TIPS. Bobby Thomas is celebrating the elimination and walks directly into a Cheetah Boy dropkick which sends him through the ropes. Greed, soaking in the smallest crowd he’s probably wrestled in front of in years, finally enters the ring as the crowd chants “Eighth Deadly Sin!” Thomas and Greed go face to face, mouthing off at each other before Greed connects with a quick snap DDT on Thomas.

Earnest.
I can’t believe John Greed is in this battle royal!

Forthdyke-Hume.
It’s absolute pandemonium in here Marv. And we have a former SWF tag champion and CGC tag champion exchanging blows! We’ve got the 16 year vet, Cheetah Boy joining the action. It’s three men exchanging blows!

Earnest.
But the Dallas Cowboy isn’t standing idly by! FLYING CROSSBODY JUST TOOK THE ENTIRE FOURSOME OUT!

Blaze is the first one to who his feet and he looks like he has seen an opportunity like never before. He grabs Bobby Thomas and FINALLY tosses out the former CGC Tag Team champion. Thomas lasted until
21:56
. Blaze looks to do the same to Cheetah Boy, but Cheetah Boy is too quick and slips back in leaving Blaze open to a dropkick from Greed, taking his elimination at
10:10
.

Earnest.
Two vets here looking to make a mark perhaps?

Forthdyke-Hume.
That vanilla midget Cheetah Boy belongs nowhere near this ring. he’s lucky someone hasn’t taken his head off yet.

Greed and Cheetah Boy lock up. Cheetah Boy tries to use his speed to outdo Greed, but Greed is onto it.

Earnest.
Cheetah springboard off the ropes, right into Greed’s welcoming arms. Crash Diet! That’s all she wrote.

Greed picks up the limp Cheetah Boy and tosses him over for the win.

John Greed wins a 20 man battle royal, surviving 6:28, total match time 24:28, D-

Nelson.
I’m standing here with the challenger for the belt, Greg Gauge. Greg, thoughts going into tonight?

Gauge.
Well Face, it would be easy to say I was screwed last month. It would be easy to say “well those Remus boys hoodwinked me!” But the truth is, I lost. I was outwitted. I won’t say the better man won, but like I said last month - the man obsessed won the belt. The sad thing is, that’s the one who now represents this company, represents the values of the belt… That’s the champion and I lost it. He was obsessed and willing to have no values, no integrity, no fortitude. And if that’s what this company wants so be it… If that’s the type of nonsense Sam Keith…

Nelson.
You mean your father?

Gauge.
If Roderick Remus is the type of nonsense that Sam Keith wants to put up with, then so be it. Tonight, I will fix all that is wrong. I will win the belt. Next month I will win that tag match singlehandedly if I have to and in two months I will win the Sam Keith Classic. Because wrestling isn’t an obsession, it’s my life.

Remington Remus joined the announce team for this match bringing a unique insight normally seen in RIPW. This match was one of those matches that really could’ve been something better, yet was everything it should’ve been in setting up perhaps storylines for the rest of the year, Remus and Gauge exchanged moves, worked well with each other and told a story in their match. Fall one came surprisingly quickly when Remus managed to roll up Gauge with a small package holding onto the tights.

Gauge, realizing he was cheated, went fully in however holding nothing back. Remus looked like an amateur compared to Gauge, as he was schooled post to post for the next ten minutes. It almost seemed as if Gauge was trying to prove a lesson. He drags Remus into the middle of the ring and locks in the proton lock.

Earnest.
PROTON LOCK!

Remington.
Don’t tap bro!

Forthdyke-Hume.
I think Jay Fair needs to investigate those shoelaces!

Roderick Remus doesn’t look like he can make it much longer when a big boot meets Gauge’s head. Fair immediately calls for the bell, but with 30 seconds between falls it doesn’t matter what Fair does right now. The Dynamite Express are out as well with chairs…

Remington.
CON-CHAIR-TO!

The double chair thud echoes through the auditorium. Gauge has begun to bleed. Fair is warning the Coalition some more, but it does nothing. Lone Star Drop from Texas Pete follows the Conchairto and Guage is a limp mess.

Earnest.
Not like this damnit!

Remington.
YES! YES!

Earnest.
This is the type of bull you want in your new coalition?

The deed is done. While the falls are tied 1-1, the bloodied, beaten Gauge is not going to recover despite the 30 seconds between falls. To add insult to injury, Remus connects with a Brainbuster Suplex. Remus then locks Gauge in the Remus Clutch but Gauge is clearly unresponsive and Fair doesn’t even bother checking, calling for the bell.

Roderick Remus d. Greg Gauge, 2 falls to 1, 32:07, D

As the rest of the Coalition is celebrating on the ramp, Remus is standing over his downed opponent taunting him.

Roderick.
Next month, you claim you can carry US? Don’t worry, you’ll have that opportunity Gregory. I am the future. I am the greatest thing to ever grace an MAW ring. I am

…GO…

“Just Close Your Eyes” by Bedlam’s Gate hits again. The Coalition is by the entry way, waiting for John Greed but this leaves Remus wide open from behind…

Earnest.
Crash Diet! That’s poetic justice!

The Coalition looks ready to storm the ring, but Roderick Remus has already rolled out and Greg Gauge has recovered.

Earnest.
A common enemy this month has left two men tension filled and uneasy allies right now, but all bets are off next month at Fan Festival! Greg Gauge and Roderick Remus will somehow try and team up to fight John Greed and a mystery partner! Ladies and gentlemen, the Coalition might have won the battle, but with John Greed now on our side, they have not yet won the war!

Surprisingly, despite it being years since being involved in pro wrestling, Greed had time to talk with us about the Pete situation.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"Pete was a standard case I had studied in college," he began before trailing off, "and while the money was in psychiatry and so was my blood, my passion was wrestling so I put off using my PhD for a couple of decades. It helped me fund my own office and while I needed some refreshers, as I began to actually work on guys in the back, especially in the Mid Atlantic. In fact, it was Pete who would be my first pro wrestling case. I saw his alcoholism as a branch of his lack of success. Pete had to be happy with who he was, his success and what he could contribute. Pete was only 35!"</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"So John comes to Sam and I," Jay Fair explained, "and says, 'give me a program with Pete.' Granted, Pete was involved in the original plan as John was joining the Gauge/Remus feud, but somehow focusing on Pete and John was going to give John more time to psychoanalyze Pete and... somehow that bastard made it work..."</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">
