Diary Question:

How would everyone feel if I began using some internet articles in this diary as I have in more modern diaries? I know that the internet and world wide web were in it's infancy, if not non-existent. But I feel like it's a good way to convey some behind the scenes stories. I just don't want to pull my readers out of the story.- I love it maggle!

<p>10 Minute Time Limit Match</p><p>

<strong>Larry Zbyszko</strong> vs. Junkyard Dog</p><p>

Comments: <em>Well, it´s two main eventers here so no help from looking the roster page but I figure Zbyszko is the guy higher on the ladders by default and Dog losing on last week didn´t really help his case here either even if it was to another main event guy.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Round 1</p><p>

10 Minute Time Limit Match</p><p>

<strong>Buddy Landel</strong> vs. El Gigante</p><p>

Comments: <em>Not actually sure on this one, as while I´m pretty sure that Landel is the better guy to push by default (and yes, I don´t actually know for sure), big guys always have a chance to be pushed thanks to their size and menace. That said, while Landel did lose in last week, he was in a same match than Sting and in my books that´s better than not being seen at all so I go with Landel based on that. </em></p><p> </p><p>

10 Minute Time Limit Match</p><p>

George South vs. <strong>Dustin Rhodes</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Not much contest for me here as I hardly even remember who South is. Just having a flimsy memory that I have hear of him before in some diaries but as far as I can remember he haven´t never been pushed in any of those that I have read.</em></p><p> </p><p>

NWA World Television Title Tournament Match</p><p>

Round 1</p><p>

10 Minute Time Limit Match</p><p>

<strong>Michael Wallstreet</strong> vs. Robert Gibson</p><p>

Comments: <em>Computer will surely say that Wallstreet wins and who am I to argue against the computer? </em><img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

15 Minute Time Limit Match</p><p>

<strong>Arn Anderson and Barry Windham</strong> vs. The Young Pistols</p><p>

Comments: <em>You would think that I have read enough of diaries in this era by now to know for sure who Young Pistols are but apparently that isn´t the case (I do assume that it´s Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong though). Either way, I´m pretty certain it isn´t two face main eventers teaming together so should be win for the Horsemen. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Non-Title Match</p><p>

25 Minute Time Limit Match</p><p>

Doom vs. <strong>Sting and Lex Luger</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Random pairing over tag champs. </em><img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><em> Ok, so on bit more serious note, Sting and Lex are simply too big names to lose here but Doom is going to give them a good fight before going down.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Comments: <em>Don't see the Worlds champ and United States champ loosing</em></p><p> </p><p>

Comments On Diary In General: Maybe Anderson and Windham future tag team champs one day. Always thought Wallstreet or Taylor would have made either a good Television champ or maybe United states Tag team champions.</p>

<p>Larry Zbyszko - <em>JYD can pick up a jobber win on Main Event to get some momentum back.</em></p><p>

El Gigante - <em>He's a spectacle! Just look at the frying pan hands!</em></p><p>

Dustin Rhodes - <em>Easy win.</em></p><p>

Michael Wallstreet - <em>Can't see him winning the belt, but Wallstreet has some legs in the tournament.</em></p><p>

Horsemen - <em>Yep.</em></p><p>

Sting/Luger - <em>Probably by a DQ after the Horsemen attack or something.</em></p><p> </p><p>

I think that I would rather see this stay completely kayfabe. If you do want to bring in an "outside" type of report, an internet article would just seem odd, so maybe do it as a sort of newsletter deal.</p>

Arn Anderson and Barry Windham could be future World Tag Team Champions. At Starrcade 1990, they went to a double pin with Doom. So they could definitely be in line for a future World Tag Team title shot. As far as Michael Wallstreet and Terrence Taylor go, they have a shot at the United States Tag Team titles at Clash of the Champions: Dixie Dynamite. However, at the same time, he made the decision to work in Japan on that night rather than working for WCW. I am, also, a minor fan of the Z-Man. He was a decent worker, especially for tag teams. His team with Flyin' Brian was an excellent team. I know that he teamed with Rick Martel in the WWF. As far as his teaming with Bagwell? I don't remember that off-hand. I know Bagwell teamed with The Patriot, Scotty Riggs, 2 Cold Scorpio. Wikipedia says that Bagwell did team with Z-Man. But I am sure that team did not last very long.</span></p>

Round 1</p><p>

10 Minute Time Limit Match</p><p>

Non-Title Match</p><p>

25 Minute Time Limit Match</p><p>

Doom vs. <strong>Sting and Lex Luger</strong></p><p>

Comments: It being non-title makes this hard to pick. However, I don't think you'll have the desire to give a pinfall to Doom in this one.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">I'd be against it. Immersion is important. Internet stories in 91 would be pretty defeating. I'd prefer Apter mag articles, PWI, Wrestling Observer, "radio recaps" etc. Anything but internet stories. </span><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

She says that with the help of this computer, this laptop, she will give Michael Wallstreet and Terrence Taylor, the computerized men of the 1990's, all of the information they need to defeat The Steiner Brothers. She hands the microphone over to Michael Wallstreet. Wallstreet says that he cannot believe that some people call them the underdogs in this contest. They are not the underdogs. Zbyszko is the self-proclaimed smartest man in wrestling at playing the human game of chess. This is a decent back and forth match between two men who could main event WCW Saturday Night. Zbyszko breaks up the momentum of JYD in the early going by moving outside the ring and pacing at ringside. JYD gets too close to the ropes, allowing Zbyszko to trip him and drag him outside the ring. He rams him head-first into the guardrail and then shoves him against the ring post. The crowd boos this tactic by the Living Legend. He brings the action back inside the ring where he picks up JYD and brings him down with a shoulderbreaker. Reed lifts Sting and brings him down with a short-arm clothesline. The crowd boos as Doom remains in control throughout the early-going of the match. Reed and Simmons make use of frequent tags and double team moves to keep Sting down and in their corner. The All-American Ron Simmons picks up Sting and drops him with a Spinebuster. Simmons makes the cover: One, Two, Broken Up By Lex Luger. The referee steps over to escort Luger back to his corner and in comes Butch Reed. Doom hit Sting with a double flapjack. The crowd tries to show their support for Sting with clapping and stomping their feet. They chant his name, getting louder when Sting avoids a spear in the corner and Simmons strikes his shoulder hard against the ring post. Sting begins crawling toward the corner, the crowd and Lex Luger absolutely begging for a tag. Ron Simmons tags in Butch Reed and Reed rushes in but Sting leaps and tags in The Total Package!]</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> [Lex Luger rushes in the ring and brings down Butch Reed with a clothesline! He has a clothesline for Ron Simmons, knocking Simmons to ringside. The Total Package kicks Reed in the gut and then lifts him in position for a delayed vertical suplex. All the blood rushes to the head of Reed before he is dropped with that perfect suplex by Luger. The Total Package lines himself up with Reed, waiting for Reed to get on his knees. He bounces off the ropes and is taken down with a football tackle by Ron Simmons! The crowd boos this blatant interference by Simmons and in comes Sting! The referee, though, grabs Sting and is forcing him to go back to his corner. Behind the referee's back, both members of Doom choke Luger on the middle rope. Ron Simmons exits the ring before the referee turns back around and Butch Reed grabs Luger by the legs. He catapults Luger into the turnbuckle but Luger grabs the top turnbuckle to stop from hitting it with his head. Reed stands up and turns around, being mowed down by a clothesline by Luger! Luger tags in Sting and in comes the NWA World Heavyweight Champion! Sting catches Reed with a one handed bulldog. He lifts Reed and Irish whips him into a neutral corner. Luger catches Ron Simmons with a powerslam as Sting rushes toward Reed -- Stinger Splash! Reed falls to the mat out of the corner and Sting grabs the legs. Sting turns Reed over into the Scorpion Deathlock while Luger lifts Simmons in the Human Torture Rack! The referee checks with Reed and then calls for the bell! Barry Windham - This would be a big win for the Horseman, and probably slot Barry right into title contention.

Sid Vicious - JYD stands no chance.

Dan Spivey - DANGEROUSSSSS

Owen Hart - Hart can be pushed pretty hard.

Ric Flair - Looking like a good night to be a Horseman.

Sting - No big win for Hayes.

The Backlund stuff has been pretty interesting so far. But I laughed hardest at Sid asking Missy on a date. Because I can't imagine him doing it all smooth and suave like Flair or Luger could, our boy Sid would just stop what he was talking about and scream "HEY MISSY! LET'S HAVE A DATE!"

Comments: <em>Could go either way but with Sid apparently being in a storyline (which likely leads him leaving Horsemen) and being challenger for Lex, Barry kind of seems the current fall guy for the group as he seems to be the one who doesn´t have much going on and thus I figure that Lex is the more important guy at the moment, espesially since he´s the US champ as well.</em></p><p> </p><p>

WCW SATURDAY NIGHT!

Saturday Week 3 January 1991

Location: Kiel Auditorium (Mid West)

Attendance: 9,300

Overall Rating: B

TV Rating: 3.02

[WCW Saturday Night is coming to you from Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis! We are less than a week away from Clash of the Champions. The show begins with the arrival of the NWA and WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting! The man called Sting greets the fans at ringside and gives them high fives before he enters the ring, listening to a chant of 'Sting' from the crowd. Sting paces inside the ring and then says that this Wednesday night, live on the Superstation, he is going to face one of the biggest challenges of his career when he steps in the ring with Bob Backlund. He talks about the achievements of Bob Backlund, including being an accomplished amateur wrestler and a graduate of North Dakota State University. He says that Backlund is an accomplished World Champion and a former three time NWA Western States Heavyweight Champion. He has done it all except hold the NWA World Heavyweight title. When Wednesday finishes, Bob Backlund STILL will not hold the NWA World Heavyweight title. He says that the man he once knew would never attack someone from behind. He says that the man that he once knew would look a man in the face and wrestle him, not attack him. At Clash of the Champions, that is exactly what is going to happen. There is going to be a wrestling match. There is going to be a -- Sting pauses as 'Badstreet USA' begins to play. He looks a little annoyed as all eyes turn to the top of the ramp.]

[Michael Hayes and Diamond Dallas Page strut their way down to the ring, stepping inside and looking across at an upset Sting. Sting asks Hayes exactly what he wants here tonight. Hayes says that there was an accident on Badstreet USA and his partner, Jimmy 'Jam' Garvin, is going to be gone for awhile. That means that Michael 'P.S.' Hayes is on his own when he steps in the ring. Of course he has backup in DDP but in the ring he is going to get the job done by himself. That is why he wants to step in the ring in singles competition with the man who the NWA considers the best. That means he has to step in the ring with Sting. Sting says that he has always been a fighting champion. But he cannot speak for the NWA so he cannot guarantee a World title match. Hayes says that he always knew that Sting was a coward but he'll accept a non title match against Sting. He says that he's going to walk Sting down Badstreet USA and bring him into the low-rent district, which is truly where Sting belongs despite what the NWA might say. He says that when he puts Sting in a tenement and it crashes down around him, he's going to know the power of the Freebird. Diamond Dallas Page steps in and gets in the face of Sting. DDP says that Sting's going to feel the bang. He lifts a hand and punches Sting, knocking him backward. Sting fires back with a punch. Sting fires another punch! Another one knocks him backward. Michael Hayes turns and clips Sting in the left knee. That's the one he had reconstructive surgery on! Hayes stomps on the knee again and again as Sting grabs the knee. Diamond Dallas Page exits the ring and grabs a folding chair, sliding it in the ring. Hayes positions the chair on the mat and then pulls up Sting. He locks him in -- Freebird DDT on the chair! Sting is down and out and hurt. Will he even be able to wrestle Michael Hayes later on tonight? Hayes and Page celebrate before exiting the ring as EMTs and officials check on Sting. What a big way to start WCW Saturday Night!]

Non-Title Match

15 Minute Time Limit Match

Barry Windham vs. Lex Luger

[Our opening match this evening is a match that could be a main event anywhere in this country. A member of the Horsemen, Barry Windham, takes on a former member of the Horsemen and the current NWA United States Champion 'The Total Package' Lex Luger! As can be expected, this is a back and forth match from the early going. The two men exchange blows in the center of the ring before Luger brings Windham down with a clothesline. He picks up Windham and lifts him in the press slam, sending him crashing to the mat. Luger flexes in the center of the ring as Windham backs into a corner. Luger moves in and Windham grabs him and shoves him into the corner. Windham throws some punches and then lifts Luger in a vertical suplex, bringing Luger crashing to the mat. Windham picks Luger back up and brings him down with a belly-to-back suplex, bridging and scoring a two count. The momentum shifts when Windham sets Luger up for a Superplex but Luger manages to block it. He throws some punches, shoving Windham to the mat. Luger drops down and strikes Windham with several running clotheslines in a row. The Total Package gets momentum from the crowd as Windham gets to his feet. Luger picks up Windham and drops him with a twisting brainbuster. Luger signals for the Human Torture Rack. He yanks Windham up but Windham rakes the face of Luger. Windham bounces off the ropes -- Scoop Powerslam! Luger hooks the leg: One, Two, Three! A big win for the United States Champion, the Total Package.]

Winner: Lex Luger (Via Pinfall @ 10:52)

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/StanHansen.jpg

[The fans watching at home are treated to a video featuring Big Van Vader and Stan Hansen. These two big men are going to meet at Clash of the Champions to determine the best heavy hitter in professional wrestling today. The arrival of Big Van Vader to WCW is shown when he took on the Z-Man at Great American Bash 1990. The match took less than three minutes as Vader absolutely destroyed the former World Television Champion. From there, we are shown Stan Hansen fighting against Lex Luger at Halloween Havoc 1990. He, of course, won the United States title from Luger during that match. Now, these two tough athletes will go one on one at the Clash. Which man will walk away from this contest and which man will be carried out? Make sure you tune in to Clash of the Champions to find out!]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/OwenHart.jpg

[As we return to the ring, Paul E. Dangerously is standing in the middle of the ring. He welcomes everyone to the most dangerous place in professional wrestling, The Danger Zone. He introduces himself to the audience and says that tonight is going to be one of the biggest nights in professional wrestling. He says that tonight is going to be the night when he adds the latest addition to the Dangerous Alliance. He introduces the guest to the Danger Zone and the man who will be the latest addition to the Dangerous Alliance: Owen Hart! The crowd is absolutely in shock as Hart walks out from the back. He gets a mixed reaction as he high fives a few fans along the way to the ring. Hart slides inside the ring and asks for a microphone. Dangerously begins welcoming Hart but Hart immediately tells him to shut up. Hart tells Dangerously that tonight he put the cart before the horse. He says that he never gave Dangerously an answer as to whether he would join the Dangerous Alliance. However, with what Dangerously just said, he has an answer. That answer is that he is going to stay on his own here in WCW. So his answer is no. Dangerously calls Hart a fool and says that he's just like the other members of his family. The two men begin yelling at each other as someone sneaks his way down to the ring and slides in behind Owen Hart.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/LarryZbyszko.jpg

[As Owen Hart grabs Paul E. Dangerously by the lapels of his suit jacket, Larry Zbyszko slides in the ring under the bottom rope. The fans here in the Kiel try to warn Owen Hart of the impending danger and they succeed as Hart dodges to the side, releasing Dangerously in the process. Hart turns and begins throwing punches to Zbyszko! The Living Legend is in shock as the younger wrestler has the advantage. Hart knocks Zbyszko back into a corner and then climbs up. He raises a fist and begins raining them down on Zbyszko! The crowd counts along to the tune of ten right hands before Hart drops back down and is blasted from behind by Paul E. Dangerously and that cell phone. Wires and cell phone bits litter the ring as Zbyszko quickly grabs Hart and locks in the Larryland Dreamer. He's taking Owen Hart to Larryland with the guillotine choke. Zbyszko finally releases and drops Hart to the mat. He checks on Dangerously before setting up Owen Hart in a piledriver position. Dangerously grabs a microphone and says that this is what happens when you have too many guts and too little brain. He says that this is what happens when you mess with the Dangerous Alliance. Zbyszko plants Hart on his head with the piledriver. Hart may have suffered a broken neck! Zbyszko stands up and Dangerously raises Zbyszko's arm. Owen Hart is scheduled to wrestle here tonight against Lethal Larry. Will Hart even be able to compete? Or will he have to forfeit his spot in the TV title tournament? The announcers promise an update as soon as they receive word.]

Match #2

NWA World Television Title Tournament Match

Round 1

10 Minute Time Limit Match

Sid Vicious vs. Junkyard Dog

[Our second match of the evening is a first round contest in the NWA World Television title tournament. One of the Four Horsemen, Sid Vicious, steps in the ring with a crazed dog in the form of Junkyard Dog. The match is a lot more even this time around than some might have thought. One aspect of the match that is surprising is that when JYD had Vicious down on the mat, he headed to the top rope. He caught Vicious with a diving headbutt off the top turnbuckle but only scored a two count as Vicious managed to kick out. During the match, the referees discuss what Sid Vicious said last week in that hidden camera video. They wonder just what the Horsemen have planned to handle their own business. Vicious catches fire late in the contest, catching JYD with a couple of big clotheslines before grabbing him around the throat where that dog collar is. He lifts JYD up and then brings him down in a devastating chokeslam. What power shown by Vicious. The Horsemen member calls for the Power Bomb and the announcers are in almost disbelief as Vicious lifts JYD and then brings him down hard with the Power Bomb. Vicious places a hand on the chest of JYD: One, Two, Three! Sid Vicious advances in the NWA World Television title tournament, leaving JYD pondering his career choices!]

Winner: Sid Vicious (Via Pinfall @ 5:46)

Match Rating: C

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/BobBacklund.jpg

[it is time, once again, for everyone to tune in to the Wrestling News Network hosted by Gordon Solie. Solie's main focus is on the matches that were signed for the Clash of the Champions this Wednesday night. He runs down a card that includes Sting defending the NWA World Heavyweight title against Bob Backlund, Lex Luger defending the United States title against current Horsemen Sid Vicious, Big Van Vader taking on Stan Hansen and many more contests that will be live on the Superstation TBS. Solie says that he would like to send things to the man who will challenge Sting at the Clash: Bob Backlund. Bob Backlund is shown in front of a WCW logo. He looks in the camera and talks about the fact that he has been denied his rematch for the World title for nearly ten years. He says that he will no longer be denied his match this Wednesday night when he steps in the ring with Sting for the NWA World Heavyweight title. He says that Sting put a lot of his accolades out there earlier tonight. He is a former amateur wrestling genius. He has won titles in every promotion in which he has plied his craft. That is not going to change here in WCW, here in the NWA. He says that Wednesday night he is walking out as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and he's going to make WCW great! Backlund drops down in a wrestling stance as we move back to the ring for our next encounter.]

Match #3

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/DanSpivey.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/USPW_14/VS.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/PezWhatley.jpg

10 Minute Time Limit Match

Dan Spivey vs. Pez Whatley

[sadly, this match was one-sided from the opening bell. That one side is on the side of 'Dangerous' Dan Spivey. The former Skyscraper attacks Pez Whatley from the opening bell, sending him back in a corner and driving shoulders into the ribs of Whatley. He sends Whatley across the ring into the opposite corner where he follows in with a corner clothesline. Whatley crashes to the mat and Spivey puts a boot in Whatley's throat, using the ropes for leverage. Spivey breaks the hold before the five count that would have disqualified him. He lifts Whatley up and sends him to the ropes -- sidewalk slam sends Whatley to the mat once again. Spivey paces the ring briefly before picking up Whatley. He sends Whatley to the ropes -- big boot to the skull and Whatley drops to the mat. Spivey looks around and then gives the thumbs down symbol. He picks up Whatley and brings him crashing to the mat one more time with the Spivey Spike, his version of a DDT. Spivey places both hands on the chest of Whatley: One, Two, Three!]

Winner: Dan Spivey (Via Pinfall @ 5:34)

Match Rating: D+

[When the ring is cleared, all four members of the Four Horsemen begin walking down to the ring. All four men enter the ring with Sid Vicious stepping over the top rope to enter the ring. Ric Flair takes a microphone and says that tonight he has called forth a meeting of the Four Horsemen to be done right here in the middle of the ring. Flair says that they need to have a discussion about Sid's words last week. Flair says that, last week, Sid said he did not need the Four Horsemen. Vicious speaks up, saying that he was trying to impress Missy Hyatt last week. He was going to continue but he is interrupted by Barry Windham. Windham says that because of Sid's words last week, they cannot trust him to be a Horsemen member. Windham looks to Flair for a moment and Flair gives a nod before Windham continues. Windham tells Vicious that there are two ways that they can handle this. The first way is that Vicious can apologize and walk away from this ring under his own power. The harder way is that Vicious can refuse to apologize and the Horsemen here beat the apology out of him. Either way, Sid Vicious is no longer a Horseman. Vicious steps up to Barry Windham. Vicious looks down at Windham from his height for several long moments. He takes the microphone and says 'I'm sorry.' He tosses the microphone down and steps over the top rope and then down to ringside. Without another word or a look back, Vicious walks down the ramp toward the back. The rest of the Horsemen watch him go until he disappears in the back. Shortly thereafter, the Horsemen follow him to the back.]

NWA World Television Title Tournament Match

Round 1

10 Minute Time Limit Match

Lethal Larry vs. Owen Hart

[During the entrance of Lethal Larry, we are shown the attack by Larry Zbyszko on his opponent Owen Hart earlier tonight. Teddy Long and Lethal Larry enter the ring and Long tells the referee to begin the count. Before the referee can get to three, Owen Hart comes out from the back, holding his neck. He walks out as fast as he can and makes it to the ring before the ten count. Lethal Larry attacks him as soon as the bell sounds, going right after the neck area of Owen Hart. Larry catches him in a swinging neckbreaker early and makes the cover: One, Two, Kickout! The crowd cheers as Owen Hart somehow kicked out of the pinfall. Cameron continues his beat down of Hart, lifting him up and bringing him back down to the mat with a jumping clothesline. Larry tosses Hart out of the ring and joins him at ringside. He rams Hart back-first into the ring apron and then begins arguing with a fan in the front row. The two seem ready to get physical before Teddy Long calms things down. Larry returns his attention back to Hart, tossing him back inside the ring. Larry sets up Hart for the Heart Punch but Hart blocks the punch and strikes Larry with a few punches and a dropkick! Hart gets the crowd behind him as he begins to make his comeback. Teddy Long cannot believe it as Hart hits Larry with the Russian Legsweep. Hart climbs to the second turnbuckle and drops a forearm on the head of Larry before Teddy Long climbs up on the apron. Long argues with the referee and then with Owen Hart. Hart seems ready to slug Long but Hart moves when Larry comes in from behind. Larry accidentally knocks Long off the apron and Hart rolls up Larry from behind, ending in a jackknife style pinfall: One, Two, Three! Somehow, Owen Hart advances to the second round!]

Winner: Owen Hart (Via Pinfall @ 6:27)

[Owen Hart has scored a very improbable victory tonight but he is assaulted from behind as he begins his celebration. The forearm strike comes courtesy of the first member of the Dangerous Alliance, Larry Zbyszko! The Living Legend is standing in the ring alongside his manager Paul E. Dangerously. The announcers let everyone know that this Wednesday night, Owen Hart will get his opportunity for revenge as he takes on Larry Zbyszko one on one at the Clash of the Champions. Zbyszko tosses Hart out of the ring and joins him at ringside, sending Hart into the guardrail. He begins choking Hart on the top of the guardrail as officials come running in from the back. The officials give Zbyszko a warning and he finally releases as Hart gasps for breath. Owen Hart uses the guardrail to stay on his feet as Larry Zbyszko and Paul E. Dangerously are led to the backstage area. Owen Hart has shown a lot of heart this evening.]

[We are taken from the ringside area to the interview stage. Standing there by himself is Tony Schiavone. Schiavone thanks everyone for watching WCW Saturday Night on the Superstation. He introduces his guest at this time, Flyin' Brian Pillman! Pillman walks out from the back and high fives some fans in the front row as he makes his way to the interview stage. Schiavone says it's good to see him here and then makes mention of his match tonight with Ric Flair. Pillman says that this is the biggest match of his career. He is going one on one with the Nature Boy. He talks about being the one to finally walk that aisle against one of the best wrestlers in the business. But he's also the dirtiest player in the game. Pillman says that he has to watch out for everything that Ric Flair can dish out. He says that he's worried about it not just being Ric Flair there. There's also the Horsemen, Arn Anderson and Barry Windham. There will always be the Horsemen when it comes to Ric Flair. Pillman says that you never get a clean fight and a clear winner when the Horsemen interfere. Well, tonight, he says that he's planning to turn all of their plans upside down. Pillman says that tonight he is going to risk the fall just to know what it feels like to fly. He turns and walks off, heading toward the ring because his match with Ric Flair is next!]

20 Minute Time Limit Match

Ric Flair vs. Brian Pillman

[Our semi main event is a match that could be the main event here in the Kiel Auditorium. On one side of the ring is Ric Flair, along with The Enforcer Arn Anderson. He steps in the ring taking on the man known as Flyin' Brian! The opening minute of the contest features back and forth wrestling by both men on the ground and standing up. Around the end of the opening minute, Flair and Pillman begin exchanging chops to the chest. Pillman gets the advantage and sends Flair out of the ring. Pillman climbs to the top turnbuckle and catches both Ric Flair and Arn Anderson with a diving cross body outside the ring! Pillman stands up and plays to the crowd for a moment. Then he grabs Flair and tosses him inside the ring, joining him quickly. As Pillman maintains the advantage, the announcers remind everyone that at the Clash of the Champions this Wednesday night live on the Superstation, Brian Pillman will be teaming with El Gigante to take on Ric Flair and Arn Anderson. The momentum shifts when Pillman slips off the top turnbuckle, striking his knee on the mat. He backs into the corner, holding his knee. The referee steps in, asking Pillman if he can continue and Pillman says he can. Flair comes over and strikes Pillman with a kick to the knee. He pulls Pillman up in the corner and lays into him with three straight knife-edge chops. Flair grabs Pillman and lifts him up -- Shinbreaker! Pillman goes down on the mat and Flair yanks hard on the leg. Then The Nature Boy moves in and goes for the Figure Four -- Pillman rolls him up in a small package:]

[....1....

....2....

...Kickout!]

[Despite the small package made by Brian Pillman, Ric Flair maintains his control during the next few minutes. He spends them focused on the knee of Pillman, even using the ring post as a weapon. He slams Pillman's knee hard against the post and Pillman cries out in pain. Flair gets up and begins strutting around the ring, drawing in boos from this crowd here in St. Louis. Flair returns his focus to Pillman and around the thirteen minute mark, he drops a knee across the forehead of Pillman and then pulls him up, locking him into a sleeper. Pillman reverses the sleeper with a jawbreaker and the crowd begins clapping, trying to bring the high flying wrestler back into this match. Both men get to their feet and Pillman sends Flair into the turnbuckle -- Flair flips up and over and then runs along the apron, climbing the opposite side. Pillman is there to meet him and knocks Flair down, crotching him on the top turnbuckle. Pillman tosses Flair down on the mat and then moves to the outside. Pillman is standing there on the apron, waiting for Flair to get to his feet. Pillman leaps up on the top rope and Arn Anderson is there, knocking Pillman to the mat before he can hit the Air Pillman. Ric Flair has the attention of the referee so the outside interference isn't seen! Flair moves in and pulls on the leg of Brian Pillman -- Figure Four Leglock! Flair leans back in the hold with Pillman shaking his head, refusing to quit. The referee is right in position to ask. After about thirty seconds, Pillman has no choice but to submit.]

Winner: Ric Flair (Via Submission @ 17:24)

Match Rating: B

[Ric Flair is refusing to release the Figure Four Leglock that he still has on Brian Pillman! Flyin' Brian is writhing on the mat as the referee warns Flair. In comes Arn Anderson and down comes Barry Windham! The remaining Horsemen enter the ring and Anderson grabs the referee, throwing him out of the ring. Ric Flair could possibly break Brian Pillman's leg right here on WCW Saturday Night! Barry Windham drops down and begins throwing punches to the tied up leg of Pillman. Flair finally releases the Figure Four and begins ordering around the other Horsemen. Arn Anderson slides out of the ring and grabs a chair, sliding it in. Barry Windham works to tie up Pillman's knee in the chair! They couldn't be looking to end this young man's career, could they? Before they can do that, though, out from the back comes the huge El Gigante! The 7'7" Argentine wrestler climbs up on the apron and is approached by Arn Anderson! Gigante strikes Anderson with a big chop as he enters the ring by stepping over the top rope. He clotheslines down Barry Windham and then turns to Ric Flair, who is perched on the second turnbuckle. Gigante grabs Flair and body slams him off the second turnbuckle! Gigante looks down and unhooks the chair from Brian Pillman's knee. The Horsemen roll out of the ring to regroup. Seeing El Gigante with the chair, they choose the smart route of heading to the back. When things are clear, El Gigante exits the ring and picks up Brian Pillman, carrying him to the back.]

20 Minute Time Limit Match

Michael Hayes vs. Sting

[it is main event time and what a main event contest we have for you this evening. On one side of the ring, we have a great tag team wrestler and great wrestler in general, Michael Hayes. On the other side, we have the current NWA World Heavyweight Champion in Sting. After Hayes confers with Diamond Dallas Page, he meets Sting in the center of the ring. The bell sounds and a fistfight immediately breaks out between the two wrestlers. Hayes catches Sting with a hard left hand, staggering him backward. Hayes clotheslines Sting to the mat and keeps on the champion. A few stomps to the head keep Sting down and Hayes begins choking the champion with his boot on the throat as the referee begins a five count. Hayes breaks before the five count can complete. He glances at the referee and then pulls Sting up and brings him down in a hard vertical suplex. Hayes does a Freebird strut before he makes the cover: One, Two, Kickout! The announcers talk about Hayes wasting too much time doing the strut. Hayes lifts Sting up and Irish whips him into the corner. He charges in but catches a boot from Sting! Hayes staggers back and then rushes the corner one more time but he takes another boot from Sting. Sting brings Hayes down with a one handed bulldog. Sting releases a howl and heads to the top turnbuckle as Hayes is slow to get to his feet. Hayes staggers around and Sting catches him with a diving cross body in the ring. Sting hooks the leg:]

..Foot On The Bottom Rope]

[What the referee didn't see was that Diamond Dallas Page put Hayes foot on the bottom rope. Sting gets to his feet and continues his momentum against the Freebird. He catches Hayes with a dropkick within the next few minutes and then heads back up to the top turnbuckle. Hayes grabs the attention of the referee and Diamond Dallas Page shoves Sting off the top turnbuckle to the mat below. Hayes quickly moves in and grabs Sting, catching him with a running bulldog out of the corner. Hayes makes the cover: One, Two, Kickout! Hayes rises up and yells at the referee, telling him that he made a slow count. Then he picks up Sting and brings him down with a body slam. Hayes yanks up Sting again and tosses him through the ropes to the floor outside the ring. Hayes grabs the attention of the referee as Diamond Dallas Page strikes Sting with a kick to the ribs. Sting grabs his ribs in pain as DDP struts outside the ring. DDP picks up Sting and tosses him back in the ring where Hayes is waiting. Hayes begins choking Sting on the middle rope and then yanks the rope back, sending Sting down on the mat. Hayes grabs Sting and hooks him in a front facelock -- Freebird DDT! Michael Hayes just dropped the NWA World Champion with the Freebird DDT! Hayes struts around the ring and then makes the cover on Sting]

...Foot On The Bottom Rope!]

[The crowd cheers when Sting places his foot on the bottom rope! Michael Hayes cannot believe it! He begins yelling at the referee, shoving him backward! The referee threatens to disqualify Hayes and Hayes finally turns back to Sting when he takes a shot to the gut. Sting fires off another shot, pulling himself up using the ropes. He begins firing punches to The Freebird, drawing in more crowd support. Sting grabs Hayes -- Inverted Atomic Drop! He brings Hayes down with a clothesline and then lifts him up -- press slam! Hayes strikes the mat on his back, crying out in pain. Sting staggers a little, holding his ribs in pain. Diamond Dallas Page climbs up on the apron, trying to get Sting's attention. He gets the attention in the form of a punch that knocks him off the apron. Sting turns back toward Hayes, who charges him -- Hayes crashes into the turnbuckle when Sting moves out of the way. Sting backs up into the opposite corner and then charges -- Stinger Splash! Hayes staggers forward and then collapses on the mat. Sting quickly grabs the legs -- Scorpion Deathlock! He has locked the Scorpion on Michael Hayes! Hayes struggles in the finisher, shaking his head. He refuses to submit, dragging himself toward the ropes. Hayes almost reaches the ropes but Sting moves the hold back into the center of the ring. Within a few more moments, Hayes has no choice but to submit.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/BobBacklund.jpg

[The fans here in the Kiel celebrate the victory as Sting releases the Scorpion Deathlock. Sting stands up and gets his arm raised but then grabs his ribs. He took a lot of hard shots during this match. He is handed the NWA World Heavyweight title belt and he holds it up, moving to the corner. He climbs to the second turnbuckle and raises up the belt as the crowd stirs. Coming out from the back is the number one contender Bob Backlund! Backlund slides in the ring but Sting drops down and goes face-to-face with Backlund. The two men go eye-to-eye and then Backlund looks down at his hands for a moment. Backlund looks up and begins exchanging punches with Sting! The two men go back and forth in the middle of the ring. Sting starts to get the advantage, knocking Backlund backward. A clothesline sends Backlund over the top rope to the floor. Backlund lands hard at ringside and Sting begins celebrating again inside the ring. He raises the NWA World Heavyweight title belt as Bob Backlund pulls himself up. Sting and Backlund stare at each other as the show comes to a close. We'll see you this Wednesday at Clash of the Champions where these two men will fight for the NWA World Heavyweight title!]
