A new generation.....a new attitude?

Im not really one to bump my thread if I can help it (which is why I generally try to reply to a bunch of comments at once) but I posted the Souled Out show a while back and the forum doesn't seem to want to acknowledge it as I'm still sat way back here on page 4.....so, apologies but here's a pointless post to bump it along a bit

That was a great show, WCW is so interesting right now with the DX storyline as everyone hates HHH and Michaels from TOW to WCW defenders. I've really enjoyed WCW since you took it over and has quickly become my favorite company in this world. I'm so happy with Michaels' move to WCW as I feel like he's the most interesting part. Quick question were there ever any plans for HBK if he didn't move to WCW? Keep up the great work and can't wait for more WCW and WWF.

WCW United States Championship Match

Eddie Guerrero © vs. The Rock

Comments: This one might surprise me. Sure, it seems like Goldberg/Eddie is set in stone. But I'm not sure if it's the best look for Rocky to fail again against Eddie - even if he gets screwed.

Man, never mind Luger, Rocky is the true Jobber to the Stars.....although in my defence, we are only just out of 1997.....in real world terms this is still Intercontinental level Nation Member Rock

Anything Goes Match

Shawn Michaels & Jean Paul Levesque vs. Randy Savage & The Warrior

Comments: Let's see how this goes with creative control...

So.....did Warrior and Savage win because Warriors creative control forced the result? Or were HBKBL always going to be doing the job? I'll let you decide that one for yourself :p

Mike Awesome & Gideon Cain vs. The Faces of Fear

Comments: Sniffing a subtle turn here - does Gideon join The First Family? Doesn't really help Mike if he's stuck in a job team...

This team (Awesome/Cain) has grown on me, to the point that they aren't likely to be a job team any time soon. In fact, if Bobby Eaton keeps levelling Gideon Cain up the way he has been, they could well end up one of my top teams

So you know that I love the diary and follow it closely, but man I'm having trouble making predictions here. I think I'll make a lot of blunders

You didn't do too bad.....to be fair I have been having a lot of interactions that don't actually relate to this event as of late....gotta sew them seeds somewhere, that or I'm just A.D.D with my booking.....it might be the latter

WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match

Jeff Hardy © vs. Hayabusa

Comments: Jeff is probably too big for the CW title now, and Hayabusa is amazing

Hardy is a bit "Chris Jericho" circa early 1998 here, slightly too big to be the Cruiserweight Champion, but big enough at the same time to carry the whole division. He's certainly head and shoulders above Hayabusa in terms of popularity.....so while he was never supposed to be the champion to begin with, he put Hayabusa over without problem and elevated him while doing so, so maybe he'll be back in the title picture at some point

Mike Awesome & Gideon Cain vs. The Faces of Fear

Comments: Gideon is a weird name, that's all I have to say here

Gideon Cain is an awesome name and totally NOT a product of a random name generator

WCW Championship Match

Sting © vs. The Giant

Comments: B level pay per view? Champion's first defence? Burgeoning issues with a bigger name than the Giant? There'll be an excuse for Giant's loss, but Sting's not losing here.

It's almost mandatory now for the new champions first defence to be against a Giant of some sorts isn't it? *coughKANEcough*

WCW Tag Team Championship Match

Diamond Dallas Page & Chris Benoit © vs. The Forgotten (Bam Bam Bigelow & Big Van Vader)

Comments: I've not forgotten the Forgotten. After all, we're talking about two former WCW World champions (I think Bigelow had the belt during WCW's dark times, pre Russo?) but it's hard to take any team seriously when they're being managed by Kevin Sullivan post-Alliance to End Hulkamania.

Bammers is indeed a former world champion (thanks to the AI) but that questionable decision did present with an interesting storyline idea, so......

.....oh.....and I choose to ignore the rest of your statement.....Sully Rules :p

WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match

Jeff Hardy © vs. Hayabusa

Comments: Hardy wasn't your first choice, and Hayabusa would be a neat way of getting the belt back where it was meant to be. Plus, it's Hayabusa!

He wasn't, in fact he shouldn't have had the title at all, but (as with the Bigelow title reign) it did present with a different direction and in all honesty, a better direction.....Hayabusa and to a lesser extent Hakushi are better options than Tajiri anyway.

Double Dog Collar Match

The Pitbull's vs. Adam Copeland & Christian Cage

Comments: Genuinely my favourite feud in the diary, and full credit to C&C and Madusa for that.

Not a comment I ever expected to read when I started this throw away three week feud three months or so back :D

A great show. Fun booking. It will be interesting to see where you take the storylines for the new tag champs and cruiserweight champ.

Thank you good sir, glad you enjoyed it

Thanks for the kind words.....in answer to your question, erm, not really.....I don't know if I mentioned it before (I'm sure I did but it was probably a while back) but the original plan for this diary was to wrap it up at Wrestlemania 13. I came in with a clear plan of what I wanted to do for 12-14 months, with the birth and explosion of the KLiQ, along with HBK's year long run with the belt, but then I got to Wrestlemania 13 and really started enjoying Scott Steiner's rise, so I wanted to carry that on.....then I took over WCW too and here we are (running ECW as well)

So, long story short, no I didn't really have anything panned out for Shawn. I imagine he would have taken a bit of a hiatus at some point, I'll often take guys off tv for a while (Undertaker, Mankind etc) so I imagine he would have come back as a face to feud with Vince's newest boy Brian Pillman.....I am having a lot of fun with him over in WCW right now though so I'm glad he headed down south.

Now with Souled Out in the bag we can officially move onto February, so let's do that.....

Comments: Bit of a random guess but the heels seem more coordinated then Austin and Kane.

Comments: Maybe Juventud is the next challenger for Hayabusa?

Random Bonus Question: We are about 8 months into Russo's booking of WCW now, so who's winning the wars for you? Are you watching Raw or Nitro?

Comments: I've already alluded to this but WCW is winning the war for me right now as I'm really enjoying the dynamic of DX being public enemy number one despite fighting the same enemy in the TOW and I just really love WCW's roster as it has many of my favourites. So I'll be watching Nitro.

So.....did Warrior and Savage win because Warriors creative control forced the result? Or were HBKBL always going to be doing the job? I'll let you decide that one for yourself :p

Creative Control it is!

.....oh.....and I choose to ignore the rest of your statement.....Sully Rules :p

I knew there was a reason why me and you got along!

Really enjoyed Souled Out (still can't get over how dumb this name was IRL) - and really, only the KOW going over was really shocking to me. While I don't think it helps anyone to have The Warrior win in 1998, I do appreciate keeping HBK on a short leash.

Comments: Now this is one hell of a match - I'm assuming the endgame may be a four way, so this might be a no contest somehow. But, let's just have a bunch of strange bedfellows spots, have Marlena and Sunny catfight, and have Al Snow accidentally pin Chris. That probably won't happen - but that would work for me.

We're opening up this evening with not only the owner of the World Wrestling Federation (Vince McMahon) but his chosen champions too.....because the WWF Tag Team Champions Ric Flair and Arn Anderson are by his side, while the World Wrestling Federation Champion himself, The Corporate Champion, Brian Pillman leads the way......and that's not to mention the still surprising sight of Mankind bringing up the rear.....

.....the quintet enter the ring, where McMahon addresses the conclusion of last weeks show, a conclusion which saw the announcement that both Bret Hart and Steve Austin's respective #1 contender status would be on the line at No Way Out.....Steve Austin's Wrestlemania main event shot (a result of his Royal Rumble victory) would be up for grabs when he faces Owen Hart, although to get this opportunity (and in an effort to ensure that Brian Pillman would only have ONE challenger at Wrestlemania) Bret Hart had to put his OWN guaranteed title shot up for grabs, against a man who agreed to take HIS title shot (should he win) the very next night on Raw is War, Big Sexy, Kevin Nash.....

.....McMahon says that he HAD intended on giving the WWF Champion the night off at No Way Out, while his numerous potential challengers fought it out amongst themselves, HOWEVER, being the fighting (Corporate) Champion that he is, Brian Pillman has DEMANDED to face Kane, and so (against his better judgement) Vincent Kennedy McMahon hereby makes that match official.....the Corporate Cannon vs. The Big Red Machine.....for the World Wrestling Federation Championship.....

.....Vince hands the microphone to Pillman, who cackles like the lunatic that he is, telling Vince that his "better judgement" would be better reserved for the safety of his employees.....

".....because Kane, never let it be said that THIS king rested on his laurels.....I buried your big brother like the faux phantom phenomenon that he is.....the king of the underworld is DEAD at the hands of the crowned prince of chaos.....and in his stead, the NEW Ruler of the Revolution ascended to the throne.....they say that heavy lies the head that wears the crown, but when you've carrying a revolution on your back, there is really no weight that's too much to bear....."

.....Pillman says that those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it, well Kane has clearly learned NOTHING, because the last time he was in alone with Brian F'n Pillman, he limped away only half the man he was when he arrived.....

.....Pillman unhooks the WWF Title from around his waist and drapes it over his shoulder, telling Kane that the prize he seeks is an unobtainable desire.....a desire that will see him fade into obscurity.....just like Paul Bearer, just like the Undertaker.....

".....and just like anyone else that believes they have what it takes to topple this tyrant.....

.....Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Kevin Nash.....even my old pal Stone Cold Steve Austin.....each and every one of you believe you are walking a path from despair to immortality.....unfortunately for you, that path winds its way through MY Kingdom, and if I have to scorch this earth with fire to eradicate YOUR path, then that's exactly what I will do....."

.....Pillman says that Kevin Nash is otherwise engaged tonight (with a date with the Million Dollar Corporation set for later this evening) but Bret Hart is free.....so Brian invites him (and Vince McMahon mandates) to get an up close and personal view of what Brian Pillman is capable of, when the two join forces later tonight, to face the combination of Stone Cold Steve Austin......and Kane......

.....we air a quick recap video featuring Faarooqs journey from the leader of the Nation of Domination to his violent ostracisation from the very group he founded, before we come back to ringside, where he looks to gain a measure of revenge against Nation member Scorpio.....

.....these two men will be clashing in a tag team encounter at No Way Out, in a match that will also feature Bradshaw and Ahmed Johnson.....funnily enough it was Scorpio's loss LAST week to Bradshaw that forced that tag team match into fruition (a fact that Ahmed Johnson didn't seem to be too pleased about) and in what can only be punishment for that loss, it appears as though he's not afforded the luxury of having any Nation members at ringside with him tonight.....

.....probably could have used them as well.....because he lost here tonight too.....

.....these two had a pretty decent match actually, but after not competing inside a WWF ring since late December of last year, Faarooq was desperate to prove something.....and he did.....finishing off Scorpio with the Dominator for the one, two, three.....

Winner: Faarooq

.....Scorpio might not have been without the Nation throughout the duration of that match, but they're here now.....and Ahmed Johnson doesn't look impressed.....

.....Kama, D'Lo and Mark Henry surround three sides of the ring (cutting off any escape route for Faarooq) while Ahmed Johnson climbs through the ropes on the fourth side.....he drags Scorpio up to his feet, telling him that "that's twice your punk ass has let me down", before making it crystal clear that there had better not be a third time.....

.....Faarooq looks around at the four Nation members that he USED to be team mates with, before staring long and hard at Ahmed Johnson (the man who usurped his position) telling him to call off the henchmen and fight him like a man.....

.....a request that Ahmed simply smirks at, before calling the rest of the Nation inside the ring with him.....

.....of course, they're still at the disadvantage, because no matter how big Nelson is, five against three still gives the Nation the numbers to do some serious damage here, and Ahmed knows it too, because he's not taking his men anywhere.....

.....Booker has a match with Jeff Jarrett upcoming at No Way Out, his first opportunity to capture singles gold when he challenges for the European Championship.....with that being said though, he DOES have the Nation to thank for that opportunity, even if he WAS unaware of that fact at the time.....

.....Ahmed has been courting Harlem Heat to join him in the Nation for some weeks now, so when Booker tells the former World Champion to take his Nation to the back, WITHOUT laying so much as a finger on Faarooq Bradshaw or Nelson, Ahmed surprisingly acquiesces.....

.....he doesn't go COMPLETELY without word though, he lets both Faarooq and Bradshaw know that he'll see their asses at No Way Out, before letting Booker know that they're only leaving here right now as a courtesy to him, but that courtesy will only extend so far.....the clock is ticking.....their invitation to the Nation WILL expire before much longer.....

.....speaking of 'any means necessary', Bret Hart has gone to very extreme means to ensure that his brother gains another opportunity at challenging for the WWF Title (going so far as to put his OWN title opportunity on the line to do so) and the Hart Foundation are here now, alongside Michael Cole, who has a few questions for the group.....

.....he first asks Bret how confident he feels going into No Way Out? After all (had he so chosen) he could have been challenging Brian Pillman TONIGHT for the WWF Championship, instead, he may find himself with no title shot at all should Kevin Nash defeat him in just 20 days time.....

.....a pretty big gamble to take.....

.....Bret says that it's no gamble whatsoever.....he says that there is NOTHING that he wouldn't do to ensure that his brother also gets the opportunity to fight for the richest prize in the sport, especially if it means getting to take out Kevin Nash one more time.....

".....I've beat him before.....I've defeated him FOR the World Wrestling Federation Championship.....WE defeated the Wolfpac at Survivor Series.....so you tell me Michael Cole, where's the gamble?....."

.....Owen agrees, telling Cole that Bret Hart could defeat Kevin Nash in his sleep.....and as for him, he's going to show Steve Austin, that throwing someone over the top rope doesn't make you World Champion calibre.....

".....after all, even Al Snow was lucky enough to toss a few bums at the Royal Rumble, do you think HE should be in the main event of Wrestlemania? Don't make me laugh....."

.....Owen says that he'll earn HIS title opportunity the old fashioned way, by making Steve Austin submit to the most devastating hold in wrestling, the Sharpshooter.....then, when Bret beats Nash, the Hart Brothers will go to Wrestlemania, take Brian Pillman out of the equation, and on THAT night, the better man will bring the WWF Title home to Canada where it belongs.....

.....that takes us to the only Hart Foundation member to currently hold gold, the WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho.....Bret and Owen will both be competing in number one contender matches at No Way Out, but Chris Jericho, he's going to be in an actual title match, putting the Intercontinental Championship on the line against Rey Mysterio.....

.....Jericho says that he didn't really have much choice.....he felt bad for the little guy.....

".....I mean, I took his division.....I beat up his loser friend Bore-Us Malenko Jr, there's not a lot else for little Rey-mundo to do.....the LEAST I can do is get him a decent payday, because a record number of Jerichoholics from around the world will be hitting that order button, to see THEIR hero.....me.....defend MY Intercontinental Championship, as only I can baby....."

.....as for toning, Jericho and Test will be giving the world a little preview of what's in store for Mysterio at No Way Out, when they face Rey and Dean Malenko in Tag Team action......and as Test (loudly) informs us, Rey could t have picked a worse partner, because it's going to be business as usual, when Dean Malenko finds himself on the losing end of a match against Chris Jericho.....because that loser couldn't beat Chris Jericho OR Test on his best day.....

.....and that match is next.....

.....Kevin Nash was NOT a happy boy last week (as the Corporation found out first hand) but he appears to be in a MUCH better mood tonight.....in fact, all three Wolfpac men look particularly pleased.....and why wouldn't they.....Nash has the chance to become number one contender at No Way Out, Scott Hall gets to gain a measure of revenge when he faces Scott Steiner (the man that cost him the Intercontinental Championship at the Royal Rumble) and Sean Waltman, well.....he's still employed?.....I jest Sean, I jest (please don't sh!t in my bag).....

.....the Million Dollar Corporation on the other hand are far from happy.....they pretty much spent the best part of last week getting beat up on all sides, and they're looking to make a statement here tonight with the Wolfpac.....or rather MORE of a statement.....because say what you will about Ted DiBiase's group (and the fans often do) ever since Jeff Jarrett captured the European Championship back in late October of last year, they have developed somewhat of a vicious streak in an effort to ensure that the prize remains in their possession.....and if you don't believe me, ask Ken Shamrock.....Chavo Guerrero.....Psycho Sid.....oh right, you can't.....because the Corporation took them out.....

.....now, with all that being said, the Corporation hasn't had to contend with The Wolfpac.....tonight they do, and honestly, it doesn't go well for them.....collectively Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman have won every single Championship there has been to win here in the WWF (including the European and now defunct Light Heavyweight titles thanks to Waltman) so they're no pushovers.....and as (a decent) match breaks down, it's Kevin Nash that picks up the big victory, finishing off Rich Steiner with the Jackknife Powerbomb for the one, two, three.....

.....Hall turns back and heads towards the ring, but he's blindsided from behind by Scotty who comes rushing down the aisle with that lead pipe in hand, crashing it across the bottom of his back, then launches him hard into the steel safety barricade.....

.....Nash and Waltman are currently doing their best to hold the Corporation at bay, but four on two odds aren't great.....FIVE on two are even worse, when Scotty enters the ring to join in the fun.....

.....it might be Hall that's getting the first crack at Steiner at No Way Out, make no mistake though, Big Sexy still wants to get his hands on the man that caused his elimination from the Royal Rumble match, so as Big Poppa Pump beats on Waltman, Nash launches each member of the Corporation to the outside one by one (and looking like an absolute beast as he does) before heading straight for Scott.....

.....only to be cut off by Sable, who puts herself between the two men.....

.....Big Sexy hesitates for a second, clearly reluctant to lay his hands on a woman.....unfortunately Sable has no problem laying her hands on HIM, as she quickly drops to her knees and whacks Nash right in the balls.....she's turned into quite the little minx has our Sable.....

.....with Nash doubled over in pain, Steiner quickly capitalises, driving the man to the mat and locking in the Steiner Recliner, forcing Nash to watch as the Million Dollar Corporation set up a table, take hold of Waltman.....and drive him straight through the wood as they have with so many others these last few months.....

.....Scott Hall finally recuperates enough to come diving into the ring (steel chair in hand) but it's too little, too late, and as Steiner, Sable and The Corporation bail, all he can do is check on the condition of his fallen comrades.....

.....we saw Rich Steiner try and patch things up with his brother recently the only way he knows how.....by offering him lots of money.....it didn't work then, but Rich (and Deebs) are nothing if not persistent, and again (as the group stands at the top of the aisle) Rich holds out a wad of cash to his brother for "a job well done".....again, Scotty doesn't look interested, saying that he'd beat the Wolfpac up for free, any day and twice on Sunday's.....

.....but he does take the money.....

.....or rather, he doesn't object when SABLE takes the money.....after all, she's a girl with expensive tastes.....so while it's safe to say that Scott Steiner is no where near a member of the Million Dollar Corporation, it seems that he CAN at least tolerate standing beside his brother without knocking his teeth down his throat.....

.....for some Tag Team action.....as (perennial loser) Dean Malenko teams up with Rey Mysterio, to face the Hart Foundation pairing of Chris Jericho and Test.....

.....Dean Malenko initially entered the World Wrestling Federation with TWO goals in mind.....capture the Light Heavyweight Title, and defeat the man that he claimed was the best Light Heavyweight competitor in the world, Rey Mysterio.....a claim that Chris Jericho took offence too.....

.....to be fair to Malenko, Jericho wasn't even competing in the Light Heavyweight division at this point (and had even challenged for the WWF World Title by now) but still, the young Canadians ego is obviously a fragile one, and Chris Jericho is a petty, petty man.....how did he deal with this slight? By putting his career up for grabs against the fate of the ENTIRE Light Heavyweight division.....he won the subsequent match, and just like that, Dean Malenko's dreams of becoming the champion of that division faded away, because Chris Jericho TOOK that Division away......

.....since then, Chris Jericho has gone from strength to strength (winning the WWF Intercontinental Championship at the Royal Rumble) while Dean Malenko has somewhat stagnated (losing in his effort to become WWF European Champion at the Royal Rumble) and got taunted and ridiculed by Jericho along the way, so much so that Malenko's one time dream opponent has stepped up to try and shut the Hart Foundation man up, challenging him to put the Intercontinental Championship on the line at No Way Out.....

.....and the ever arrogant Chris Jericho accepted.....

.....which brings us to this tag team encounter.....it was good.....it was really good actually, especially for a tv match.....for all the mocking that they have been on the receiving end of, Malenko and Mysterio completely dominated the opening minutes, getting Jericho out of the way quickly before turning their attention to the largest man in the match, Test.....

.....it's eventually Test that turns the tides, and it's Jericho's opponent at No Way Out that gets to play the face in peril, with the two Hart Foundation members working him over until a Test Running Big Boot misses and the bigger man finds himself all wrapped up on the top rope, leaving Malenko to receive the hot tag.....

....he is hot too.....in fact he's on fire, as he works over the leg of Test in between fighting off the offence of Jericho....in fact, he looks like he's going to shut Jericho up once and for all by getting the win.....

.....except he doesn't.....

.....because Chris Jericho is the best in the world at what he does.....and what he does is run his mouth.....from a safe distance.....

I'll tell you what's going on.....Old Stone Cold is in here tryin' to find out whether or not he's got two opponents tonight, or three.....because the way I see it, if this red sumbitch beats Brian Pillman at No Way Out (and he just might) then he's got a Wrestlemania date with Steve Austin to look forward too.....

.....so I'll ask you again ya big dumb b@stard.....nod your head, slap my face, hell son, you can turn around, drop yer britches, and show me your Big Red ass for all I care, but one way or another Steve Austin is going to get an answer and that's the bottom line....can....I....trust....you.....tonight?.....or do I just need to whoop your ass right here and now?......"

".....Oh Yesssss....."

<img style="max-width:15%;

"src="https://i.imgur.com/jEZc7RN.jpg">

.....I guess we finally have an answer.....although from an unexpected source, because (other than when we saw Brian Pillman viciously brutalise him) we haven't seen Paul Bearer on Raw in quite some time.....in fact, it was July of last year.....but he's here now, and he looks like he's here for Kane.....

.....obviously he's not at 100%.....not after getting his ankle crushed by Brian Pillman around 6 weeks back.....he's still limping, but he's back on his feet and he tells Austin that he has nothing to worry about tonight.....

.....Bearer says that Brian Pillman inflicted considerable pain upon him.....considerable pain upon the Big Red Monster.....considerable physical and mental pain upon his Undertaker (who still hasn't been seen or heard off since the Royal Rumble) so the only person that Kane is interested in, is the WWF Champion, Brian Pillman.....

.....that's good enough for Austin, who tells Bearer that's all he wanted, a god damn answer.....but he is quick to let BOTH men know, that he's going to whip Owen Hart's ass at No Way Out, so IF Kane becomes the World Wrestling Federation Champion, then at Wrestlemania, his big red ass will belong to Stone Cold regardless "and that's the bottom line".....

.....Austin storms off following that, leaving Bearer to tell Dok that Kane is out for retribution and revenge.....he says that the Spirit of The Undertaker hasn't made itself known to either man yet.....but it will.....and when it does, Kane is going to have the head of Brian Pillman served up on a silver platter.....with the World Wrestling Federation Title around his waist.....

WWF Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Match

.....no, do not adjust your sets.....those are really the teams that will be competing tonight in this three way tag team number one contenders match.....you can thank Mr. McMahon for that.....

.....see, while Harlem Heat went about defending, and then Ric Flair and Arn Anderson went about WINNING the WWF Tag Team Championships, there was just as much (if not more) action going on in the background.....because Al Snow and Chris Candido, the New Age Outlaws, Dustin Rhodes and Marc Mero were not only three teams desperate for a chance to challenge for the gold, but three teams that have been giving Vince McMahon a headache.....so in an effort to stop the madness he's decided to punish all the participants by giving them what they want.....just not how they want it.....

.....so it's Al Snow and Billy Gunn, facing off against Dustin Rhodes and The Road Dogg, battling the final pairing of Marc Mero and Chris Candido, to see who gets the chance to go up against Ric Flair and Arn Anderson at No Way Out.....

.....rather predictably this was somewhat of a chaotic affair, with partner miscommunication being the main culprit.....Al Snow and Billy Gunn (along with their respective partners) have been feuding for months now, even trading the WWF Tag Team Titles back and forth on one occasion, while Dustin Rhodes and Marc Mero have been trying to make a name for themselves after ditching their.....let's say, controversial alter ego's, and while they have also become a part of this bitter feud, so has their valet, with Terri and Sunny coming to blows on a number of occasions.....

.....that being said, for all it's confusion, this was a great match.....entertaining too, especially with Al Snow (being Al Snow) constantly forgetting that Billy Gunn was his partner and attempting to tag in Chris Candido on a number of occasions, until finally Gunn dropped Mero with a Famouser to pick up the one, two, three.....and send himself and Al Snow to No Way Out to compete for the WWF Tag Team Titles.....

.....Al Snow rushes over to Chris Candido as the bell rings, delighted that the two of them will FINALLY get their chance at regaining the tag team titles.....

.....obviously Skippy isn't quite as overjoyed, patiently explaining to his partner that it's going to be Billy Gunn that he's teaming with at No Way Out.....Al looks crestfallen at this, telling Candido that he doesn't want to team with Billy.....Head doesn't like him.....fortunately, before Al can get too confused, Dustin Rhodes and Marc Mero jump them from behind, and (as is usually the case when these three teams are together) a mass brawl breaks out.....and as security rush the ring to sort that mess out, the camera switches to a shot of the back.....

.....we come back from commercial to a brief recap of what happened during the break (security DID finally manage to separate The Wolfpac from The Steiner Brothers, but as the two teams were held apart, Hall and Nash demanded that Rich and Scott face them in the ring next week) as well as the blockbuster announcement that Vince McMahon has personally granted this request......and NEXT week, we will see Kevin Nash and Scott Hall face off against Rich Steiner and Scott Steiner, for the first time in close to two years.....

.....that's next week though.....and only IF the two teams keep their hands off each other between now and then.....

.....now we have the small matter of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Big Red Monster Kane, facing the WWF Champion Brian Pillman and The Hitman Bret Hart.....

.....we are only just kicking off February now, but there is a good chance that three of these men will be competing in the main event of Wrestlemania.....the question is, who will be walking into Wrestlemania as the World Wrestling Federation Champion? Current Champion Brian Pillman? Or the Big Red Monster, Kane.....THAT we will find out at No Way Out, but for now Kane is just looking for retribution on the Loose Cannon, not only for himself and Paul Bearer (who accompanied Kane to ringside here) but for his big brother The Undertaker, who hasn't been seen or heard off since the Royal Rumble.....

.....Bret Hart and Steve Austin are just happy to have the opportunity to rekindle their near two year rivalry, spending a good portion of the match tearing into each other, while Brian Pillman is apparently just happy being an antagonising son of a b!tch, generally staying out of Kane and Austin's way, while letting Bret Hart know that he won't be winning the WWF Title any time soon either.....

.....he went one step further too.....

.....because it seems that the Hitman (having done his part in assisting Brian Pillman to win the WWF Title on the first palace) has outlived his usefulness.....and as the match breaks down into what SHOULD be a four way brawl, Pillman quite literally kisses Bret Hart goodbye (or blows him a kiss at least) wishing him good luck in his number one contenders match against Kevin Nash, before picking up his Championship and disappearing to the back, leaving The Hitman high and dry.....

.....the commentators discuss how this whole match was clearly nothing more than a set up to soften up BOTH potential number one contenders AND the man who will be challenging Pillman at No Way Out (while Pillman left the night relatively unscathed) with Jim Ross speculating that Vince McMahon's rapid fire announcement that the Wolfpac would be facing the Steiner Brothers next week is an attempt at softening up Kevin Nash too.....

.....maybe that's true, maybe it's not.....but with no partner, Bret Hart is really up sh!t creek right here......and if he DID have a paddle, I'm pretty sure Steve Austin would be using it right about now to whip his ass with.....so it's no surprise when (not long after Pillman leaves) Kane finishes Bret Hart off with a big Tombstone......

.....The Hitman could certainly have done without THAT just a few weeks out from putting his number one contendership on the line against Kevin Nash.....

.....this would usually be as good a place as any to see a Hart Foundation run-in and potential beatdown.....and while Owen Hart, Chris Jericho and Test DO make their way out, they decide that perhaps if would be a better idea (judging by the fact that a very frustrated Kane looks to want to continue to make people suffer after failing to get his hands on Brian Pillman) if they just dragged the Hitman to the outside, while Austin drinks a few beers in the ring.....

.....Owen does take the opportunity to let Stone Cold know that he will NOT be heading to Wrestlemania, because Owen will be handily defeating him at No Way Out.....Austin doesn't really care though, he's just beat up Bret Hart, he's got beer.....he's in a good mood.....

.....so much so, that after soaking half of the ring with beer, he calls for a few more, before walking up and going face to face with Kane.....

.....he tells the Big Red Monster (and Paul Bearer, who's joined Kane in the ring) in no uncertain terms, that IF he beats Brian Pillman at No Way Out....IF he becomes the WWF Champion, then he can bet his Big Red Ass that Steve Austin is going to be coming for him at Wrestlemania.....and Steve Austin WILL be taking the WWF Title (and that's the bottom line).....but for now, like I said, Austin is in a good mood, so he offers Kane a Stone Cold Steveweiser to toast their victory......

.....to be fair, I don't think Kane COULD drink it (even if he knew what it was) that mask is rather restricting.....as it is, the Big Red Monster just stares blankly at the cold brew that's in his hands.....not to be perturbed, Austin simply shakes his head, taps his beer against the Big Red Monsters and heads black to the turnbuckles where he continues his beer celebration for the crowd, as the show comes to a close for another week.

We are twenty four hours removed from a huge Souled Out event, but with January in the rear view window, it's time to look ahead.....and ahead, is Superbrawl VIII.....

.....the Titans of Wrestling make their way out to open the show, and (while Savage is sporting a dressing on his head.....a result of his blade job last night) it would seem that they too are looking ahead to Superbrawl, because after spending a few minutes bragging about their victories over Shawn Michaels, Jean Paul Levesque and The Pitbulls (while failing to mention Buff Bagwell's loss to Lex Luger)they get right down to business.....that business, being the WCW Championship.....

.....Vince Russo (the man with a plan) says that after entertaining Shawn Michaels and Jean Paul Levesque's ridiculous obsession with the Titans of Wrestling for long enough now ("and after showing them some good old WCW hospitality last night, when Macho and The Warrior showed them who has the real stroke around here") he says that it's time to bring the gold home to the Titans of Wrestling.....Russo claims that Adam Copeland and Christian Cage proved that they are the team that should be facing The Forgotten at Superbrawl, while it's high time that Buff Bagwell got a title shot around here.....so instead of having to worry about that skirt wearing cripple, Rowdy Roddy Piper, he's going to be facing Eddie Guerrero for the US Title.....and then there's the small matter of the big one.....

".....so Sting, sorry bro, but it's time to take your ass back up into the rafters.....because at Superbrawl.....The Macho Man is gonna take you out....."

<img style="max-width:15%;

"src="https://i.imgur.com/vH8E7zq.jpg"><img style="max-width:15%;

"src="https://i.imgur.com/99nujXC.jpg">

.....which brings out the (equally) battered and bruised Shawn Michaels and Jean Paul Levesque.....guess we should have known that they weren't going to take last night's loss well.....

.....Michaels tells Russo that if he thinks for one second that last night proved ANYTHING then he's got news for him (jack).....he says that yeah, Warrior and Savage may have picked up the win last night, but let's be perfectly clear.....

".....Randy Savage didn't win squat.....Randy Savage was left in a puddle of his own blood, surrounded by the broken remains of the table that I drove him through.....

.....The Warrior.....HE didn't win squat either.....because it took him AND four other nimrods to put JPL down.....so you tell me 'Macho Man'.....do you really think we're done with you?....."

.....Shawn says that CLEARLY kicking the Titans ass isn't going to be enough, so he's going to hit them where it REALLY hurts them.....

".....I'm going to take that worthless piece of tin that you people call a 'World Title'.....that second rate piece of crap, and I'm going to take it back to San Antonio, and you can all sit back and ask yourselves how.....how are you going to justify your so called 'status', when the title that supposedly makes you 'the man' around here, is around the waist of an ICON that doesn't even want it....."

.....Russo laughs at that, telling Michaels that there's no way that the man who LOST last night is going to be getting a World Title shot.....in fact, the Titans are done with him.....there are no title shots on the horizon.....the best thing that Shawn and JPL can do now, is focus on those two other losers that they've been having a problem with.....maybe they should face Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Benoit at SuperBrawl.....

".....because bro, make no mistake, there's nothing second rate around here but YOU.....these men right here in the ring, these Titans of Wrestling, wherever they are, that's the place to be.....whatever they say, that's the thing to do......and whatever they want, that's the thing to have.....what they want, is the WCW Championship.....if you DON'T want the WCW Championship, then Shawn, bro, you shouldn't even be here.....because all that means, is that you're happy being second best....."

.....Shawn just smiles at that comment, telling Russo that "I ain't your bro.....bro.....

.....and as for being second best, even on my worst day there's not a man in that ring OR in the back there, that even comes close to being able to do what Shawn Michaels can do.....I ain't never been second best a day in my life and I ain't about to start now......maybe you want that WCW Title.....maybe I don't.....but whether I want it or not, there ain't NOBODY that can stop me from taking it....."

".....well, actually.....

<img style="max-width:15%;

"src="https://i.imgur.com/ohltV8q.jpg">

.....'actually' indeed.....because 'actually', Eric Bischoff (the head of the WCW Championship Committee) 'actually' can.....

.....Bischoff tells Shawn that for what it's worth, his comments and actions as of late haven't been making him any friends in the Championship Committee, and as such, he will NOT be getting the World Title opportunity at SuperBrawl.....

.....Russo smirks at this, clearly happy to see that his plans are going down without a hitch.....

.....there is a BIT of a hitch though.....

.....Eric tells Vince that he can wipe that stupid grin off his face.....because not only is Shawn Michaels not getting the World Title opportunity at SuperBrawl, neither is Randy Savage.....

".....oh, and after their little display last night, neither Adam Copeland nor Christian Cage, Ray Traylor, or ANY of the Freaking Awful Foursome.....in fact, if I had my way, then NONE of the Titans of Wrestling would be competing for WCW Gold again.....

.....BUT.....

.....I do come bearing gifts....."

.....Bischoff says that the first gift is the gift of opportunity.....see, Shawn Michaels might be a jackass, but he's also got a point.....HE didn't lose the match last night, and Randy Savage didn't win it.....but he's going to give BOTH men the chance to EARN a WCW Title opportunity.....at SuperBrawl.....because they're going to face each other one last time.....

".....and THIS time, one of you will WIN, one of you will LOSE.....and the rest of the Titans of Wrestling will not be an issue.....because we're going to take a fifteen foot high steel cage.....we're going to put a roof on it.....and we're going to have a little two man, one ring War Games match, where the only way to win is by pinfall.....submit.....or surrender......and the winner of that match will go on to Uncensored, to face the WCW Champion.....whomever that may be....."

.....and 'whomever that may be' truly is the question.....because much as he's loathed to do so, the CURRENT Champion has personally requested his next challenger, and well, the committee (after rejecting his initial request, which was to face Shawn Michaels) has accepted that second proposal.....so after slaying the Giant, Sting's next World Title contender will be none other than the man that sent him up to the rafters in the first place.....

.....his final betrayer.....

.....the Warrior.....

.....Randy Savage is clearly a little put out about that, but he soon congratulates the Warrior (who barely looks like he's even heard the announcement going by the neutral expression on his face) before promising Shawn Michaels that he's going to take him out permanently at SuperBrawl.....

.....Russo says that it looks like we're going to have an all Titan main event at Uncensored then, because Warrior will crush Sting at SuperBrawl, while Savage will take out Michaels inside that War Games cage.....

.....especially since he's going to be pretty beat up already by the time she gets there.....because if Bischoff wants to go around booking TITLE matches, then Vinnie Ru is going to book a match tonight too.....the night's main event.....Mr. Ego, Shawn Michaels.....against Sid Vicious.....

.....good luck with that Shawn.....

The first match of the evening is one that was made (in part) at last night's Souled Out event.....The Road Warriors and Jim Duggan have challenged any combination of the loose alliance of Lance Storm's Canadians and Steven Regals Blue Bloods to a match tonight.....the Sovereignty accepted the challenge, but declined the opportunity to announce their competitors before hand.....

.....I think Hawk, Animal and Duggan were perhaps expecting both Storm AND Regal to be in the match, but after running down the Americans (and America) briefly, it soon became clear that they would NOT.....

.....instead we had the combination of Jacques Rougeau, Earl Robert Eaton and Duke Douglas Williams.....

.....as you would expect, it didn't go well for them.....

.....even with Storm, Regal and Oulette remaining on the outside, these American Originals were able to vanquish these Foreign Fanatics, with the youngest man in the match (The Duke) taking the Doomsday Device that gave Duggan and The Warriors the one, two, three.....

.....he says that he's been away for a few years now, but when he heard Lance Storm and Steven Regal continually bash the greatest country in the world, he couldn't stay away any longer.....

".....so if you boys want a REAL taste of America, why don't you all climb in this ring right now, and you can taste our red, white and blue boots getting kicked down your throat....."

.....Regal is ready.....tally ho.....I guess it's time to attack.....don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes old chap.....Storm has other ideas though, telling the rest of the group that now isn't the time or the place.....and he leads the Sovereignty to the back, leaving the six men in the ring to go through the old "USA.....USA.....USA.....Hooooooooo" shtick, and we head to the back.....

".....I already beat that skirt wearing freak once Vince, I don't need to do it again.....I need a title shot, get me a US Title shot....."

.....again, Michaels is quite dismissive of the Big Gold Belt, saying that he's held THE World Title, this is just A title, but it's a title he'll take ("just because I can, and just because it'll p!ss everybody off") and they shouldn't stop there.....Shawn tells Levesque that the way he sees it, the only thing that's going to p!ss these "dubbya see dubbya" inbred rednecks off more than Shawn Michaels holding the WCW Title, is if Shawn Michaels holds the WCW Title......and JPL holds the WCW US Title.....

.....last night all of James Vandenbergs warnings and babbling FINALLY came to fruition.....after trying (and failing) with Tajiri, then trying again (and failing again) with Shinzaki, third time was the charm for our Sinister Minister, as Hayabusa liberated the Cruiserweight Championship from around the waist of young Jeff Hardy last night.....

.....Hayabusa is here tonight, but he's not in action.....he remains on the outside (with Vandenberg) as Jinsei Shinzaki competes against another young cruiserweight, the masked Youth Warrior, Juventud Guerrera.....

.....I'm sure Vandenberg was hoping to continue his good fortunes here this evening, topping of his man's victory last night with one for Shinzaki.....

.....he was going to be disappointed.....

.....because whether it was overconfidence stemming from Hayabusa's victory last night, a lack of preparation by his manager, or simply the fact that on THIS night, Juvi was just the better man, it was Guerrera that came out victorious, finishing off Shinzaki with a 450 splash.....

We go back out to the arena now, where Mean Gene is getting ready to shill that Hotline one more time.....call 1-900-909-9900 right now and choose option 4, where you can hear all about the backstage tensions in the WWF, particularly with one certain "Bad Guy", who's been a little bit OF a Bad Guy as of late.....as well as (of course) the full results from last nights Souled Out event.....

.....cheap plug out of the way, Gene gets on with his ACTUAL job, as he calls out his guests right now, WCW United States Champion Eddie Guerrero, and his nephew Chavo Guerrero Jr.....

.....the pair make their way out from the back, and my word does Eddie Guerrero look to be oozing confidence.....and why wouldn't he be.....because everyone that comes for his title, some how, some WAY, he always finds a way to walk out with the United States Championship around his waist.....

.....Mean Gene isn't as impressed as Eddie would like him to be though, telling the current US Champion that while he once again walked out of a WCW event with his title in tact, even HE must know that he owes Curt Hennig a big debt of gratitude.....

".....because in MY opinion, had it not been for the actions of that man, I fully believe we would have a new United States Champion out here tonight....."

.....Eddie scoffs at that, telling Gene that if that's what he really thinks, then he clearly wasn't paying attention to the match last night.....he says that Eddie Guerrero went out there and showed EVERYONE exactly why he's the Papi of Perfection.....

".....because hey Rocky, at the end of the day, IT DOESN'T MATTER who you are holmes.....all that matters is who you're NOT.....and just like everyone knew all along, you're NOT the WCW United States Champion esè.....Eddie Guerrero is the WCW United States Champion.....all Curt Hennig did, was stop me kicking your ass even longer holmes....."

.....Gene disputes that claim, but tells Eddie that while he probably wants to continue his celebrations, being the US Champion puts a big bullseye on his chest, and right NOW, both Curt Hennig and Jean Paul Levesque are potentially next in line for a shot at the gold, which means that sooner or later.....Eddie Guerrero's luck is going to run out.....

.....Eddie says that luck hasn't got anything to do with it, he says that he's the Papi of Perfection, not the Grandpapi of Good Fortune.....he says that it's his god given natural ability, coupled with the generations of Guerrero blood running through his veins that's kept him as the US Champion for the last six month.....

.....as for Curt Hennig and Jean Paul Levesque holmes, they don't want any of this.....because they know (just like Hennig already knows) when you step in the ring with Eddie Guerrero, the only thing you're taking with you when you leave, is the knowledge that no matter what you DO, you'll never BE Eddie Guerrero.....

".....Jean Paul Levesque, JPL, whatever you call yourself holmes, you're nothing more than a glorified lapdog esè.....you went from carrying Shawn Michaels bags up north, to carrying Hulk Hogan's bags down south, right back to Shawn Michaels again.....and Curt Hennig, I already gave you three shots at this title holmes.....three shots and you couldn't get the job done.....Eddie Guerrero has the greatest streak in all of professional wrestling, but you Curt, you have a streak all of your own.....a streak of being a LOSER....."

.....Eddie and Chavo crack up at that comment, but Gene interrupts them, saying that on the subject of streaks, there is only one streak that everyone is talking about, and that's the undefeated streak of Bill Goldberg.....

".....and you may THINK that you took the man out (with a series of cheap attacks) but Bill Goldberg still has 16 days to get medical clearance to defend his Television Championship, and from the conversations I've had with his physicians, that's a deadline he's likely to meet.....

.....and if he DOES show up any time soon, Eddie Guerrero, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes....."

.....again, Eddie laughs, he says that Bill Goldberg isn't fit to lace up his boots.....all these morons in the crowd can chant his name all they want (cue the Gooooooldberg chants) but the fact remains, that Eddie Guerrero has got more experience in his little finger than Goldberg would know what to do with.....

".....Goldberg, he might be a big boy esè, but where is he now? Back at home with his arm in a sling, watching Eddie Guerrero walk down that aisle.....he's a big man holmes, so was Rikishi.....he got muscles esè, so did Mr. Rocky.....he's got a little streak? So has Eddie Guerrero vato.....the only streak that matters......Bill Goldberg, when you come back, you might wanna stay outta the Papi of Perfections way, because there's a lot of steel chairs in the back holmes....."

.....this match here was their first outing as manager and client in WCW.....and it went pretty well.....the match was a decent little midcard match, after all, neither men is spectacular but they're both solid workers.....in the end though, the First Family paid dividends, as Hugh Morrus returned the favour from last night, interfering on his new stablemates behalf and giving Wallstreet a rare victory.....

.....who's standing by with the man that defeated The Giant last night, the WCW Champion, Sting.....

.....Gene starts by saying that clearly Sting is a fighting champion, taking on the largest man in WCW last night before challenging the Warrior to a match at SuperBrawl here tonight.....

".....and I don't mind telling you fans, it's not often that you see the CHAMPION challenging for matches.....usually the challenges come to you, although judging by the way tonight is going, it would seem like you have PLENTY of challengers out there, including the Warriors own team mate Randy Savage......not to mention a man by the name of Shawn Michaels.....

.....so Sting, the question is, why challenge ANYONE, especially a member of the Titans of Wrestling......why The Warrior?....."

.....Sting looks down at the Championship draped over his shoulder, then pats the gold face, before telling Gene that this right here, this is why.....

".....because regardless of what some people would have you believe, this right here is THE most prestigious Championship in all of professional wrestling.....this 'piece of tin' has been around the waist of more legends of this sport than any other Championship going today.....this Championship has been around the waist of men that have done more in their careers than a Shawn Michaels could ever dream of.....and I fully intend to pay respect to those legends, by defending this title against anyone and everyone....."

.....why the Warrior?.....that's simple, The Warrior sold his soul, he turned his back on his fans, but more importantly, he turned his back on Sting.....he screwed Sting out of the chance to challenge for this WCW Title, so much so that the Stinger had to go to great lengths to be eligible for another shot at Starrcade.....he attacked, blindsided and attempted to embarrass the Icon by spray painting the Titans Tag across his back.....and Sting, he's NEVER had the opportunity to right that wrong.....

.....he says that he and Warrior, they made a name for themselves as partners, but at SuperBrawl, he is going to end that partnership.....permanently.....

".....awww, poor little lonely Stinger, the friendless wonder....."

.....oh great.....these two again.....

.....I don't know if Shawn Michaels and JPL have just been wandering the halls since their earlier conversation with Eric Bischoff (or maybe Shawn just spent the last hour scowling at the WCW logos that are dotted around the arena) but either way they're obviously on their way to ringside now, because Levesques US Title, number one contenders match is up next.....I guess it's just coincidence that there path crossed with Stings here.....

.....Michaels tells Sting that he hopes that he has a great match with the Warrior.....hopes the two of them kiss and make up.....

"......in fact, speaking of make-up, maybe the two of you can bond over your favourite eyeliner.....the boys (or should that be the girls?) are back in town....."

.....Michaels and Levesque have a good laugh at that (being the degenerates that they are) before Shawn finally wishes Sting good luck.....

"......and I honestly mean it, because it would be an HONOUR to face you one on one for that title of yours at Uncensored.....I mean, not because I respect you or anything, or even because want that worthless piece of tin on your shoulder.....but the way I see it, you're Mr. WCW.....their Icon, their Franchise.....and that's great for you, being the big fish in this teeny tiny little pond, but me, heh, I'm Mr. Wrestling......I'm THE Icon and you can keep swimming 'Stinger', but you might want to swim away, because I'm the big bad wolf and I'm about to take a leak right into your muddy little waters....."

.....Michaels says that (once he's done taking out Savage) it will be an honour to face Sting, because Sting IS WCW, which means that in one fell swoop he'll have killed both the Titans of Wrestling AND this little two bit company too.....

".....so good luck.....I REALLY hope you win..... it one way or another, whether it's you or the Warrior, that piece of crap you call a World Title, it's gonna be around MY waist....."

.....Sting hasn't taken his eyes off EITHER man throughout all of this, but he allows himself a rare smile as he pulls that gold belt (don't listen to Shawn, there's no tin here) off HIS shoulder and drapes it over the shoulder of (a nervous looking) Mean Gene......

.....he tells Shawn that IF he can beat Randy Savage "and that's a big if....because by my count, you and your pal here, you've already faced Savage and The Warrior twice, with ZERO victories" but IF he gets past the Macho Man, then make no mistake, Sting will be there waiting, and Sting will be standing there with the WCW Championship, waiting to show Michaels that no matter how good he THINKS he is, regardless of whether he thinks he's bigger than WCW, bigger than wrestling, larger than life, no matter what Shawn Michaels thinks.....

".....when you step into MY ring.....in MY company.....I'm going to show you the same thing that I showed Hollywood Hogan.....this ain't New York.....you don't get to just pout and stamp your feet to the World Title.....you have to EARN it.....you have to defeat ME.....and pal, there ain't a day of the week that you could beat me INSIDE a WCW ring....."

.....Sting pauses for a moment to bring that ever present black bat into view, which he uses to shove Michaels back a few steps with a prod to the chest.....

".....or OUTSIDE of a WCW ring.....but please, go ahead and try to prove me wrong right now....."

.....tense times.....tense times indeed, because even with that bat in Sting's hands, Michaels and Levesque look like they're feeling froggy.....

.....fortunately there's a loud crash just down the hall, the sound of which alleviates the atmosphere.....

.....as Curt Hennig comes stumbling into shot, with a p!ssed off looking Rock in hot pursuit.....

.....Hennig tries to scramble away, but the People's Champion (although NOT the US Champion thanks to Curt) isn't done with him yet, as he catches him by the hair and tosses him into the nearby wall.....

.....Hennig ricochets off the concrete and groggily walks right back towards Rocky, who levels him with a big right hand, before dropping down and raining blows on the man that cost him the victory last night.....

.....Mean Gene is aghast, asking Sting, Michaels and Levesque if anyone is going to break this up, but Sting shrugs it off, saying that Hennig has this coming after last night, while Levesque says that if Rocky wants to beat his opponent up for him a little bit then that's fine with him.....

.....finally The Rock climbs off Hennig, but only long enough to locate a steel chair, before turning his attention back to Curt.....

.....but Curt's not here.....

.....because that brief respite was all the opportunity that he needed, and he's up and running.....and as the camera follows him he burst straight out of what looks to be a fire exit, out of the building and gone for the evening.....

.....see ya Curt.....

.....Rocky throws down the steel chair in frustration, before locking eyes with Michaels, Levesque and Sting in order, before finally setting his sight on that Big Gold Belt that is back over the shoulder of Sting.....

.....oh.....there's that tense atmosphere again.....

.....Michaels goes to speak, but before he even gets a word out The Rock (still looking down at that WCW Title) holds up a hand to silence him.....

.....Rocky says that everyone has heard just about enough from Shawn Michaels and Jipple.....a statement that confuses even Mean Gene.....

".....Jipple?....."

".....yeah, Jipple.....Jipple......that's what he's calling himself now right? Jipple?....."

".....J..P..L?....."

".....call him what you want.....JPL.....Jipple.....Ripple.....Shawn Michaels hairy left nipple, it really doesn't matter to the Rock, because no matter what you call him, his name ab-so-lute-ly sucks.....

.....Mean Gene, The Rock says this, for weeks now all The Rock has been hearing, is Shawn Michaels and Jipple the Nipple walk around here talking about 'WCW this' and 'WCW that', calling himself Mr. Wrestling.....Mr. Icon.....if the Rock has to hear one more word come out of Shawn Michaels mouth, he's going to be Mr. Got-His-Ass-Kicked-by-The-Rock....."

.....Rocky says that after the night he had last night, he was hoping to lay the smack down on Curt Hennig, but it looks as though Curt made the "perfect" escape.....so what that says the The Rock, is that Jean Paul Levesque (or 'Jipple' I guess) is now short one opponent in his US Championship number one contenders match.....

".....so The Rock is going to walk that aisle, looking like only The Rock can look.....he's gonna raise the People's Eyebrow, he's gonna raise the People's Arm.....he's going to outstretch the People's Hand.....he's going to take Jipple the Nipple, grab him by that monstrosity he calls a nose, then he's gonna shine it up real bright Mean Gene.....he's gonna shine it up a long, long time, because it's a long, long nose.....then he's gonna turn it sideways and shove it straight up Shawn Michaels Candy-Ass....."

.....The Rock says that EVERY title here in WCW matters.....to hold ANY title in WCW should be a privilege, not an insult, the Rock WANTS the United States Title.....the Rock (after a brief pause and another look towards Sting) WANTS the WCW Championship.....if Shawn Michaels and Jipple the Nipple DON'T want those titles, then The Rock can make damn sure that they don't get them.....

.....oh it all gets a bit 'shouty' now.....you KNOW Shawn Michaels doesn't respond well to people mocking him....neither does Jipple the Nipp....uhm, I mean neither does JPL.....Sting, he's still p!ssed and Michaels and Levesque (and a little bit p!ssed that people keep looking at his big shiny gold belt) Rocky, he's just calling Levesque out, and since Curt Hennig left already, it WOULD make sense to get a replacement for that number one contenders match that's up next.....

WCW United States Championship: #1 Contenders Match

.....so Russo came through after all, Buff got his chance to become the number one contender to the US Championship in the end.....

.....Russo might be pushing his luck here.....he might be the boss in regards to the day to day operations in WCW, but when it comes to title opportunities, it's Eric Bischoff and the Championship Committee that have the final say.....

.....not that Levesque minds either way.....

.....in fact, I'd wager that since Buff Bagwell is a member of the Titans of Wrestling, JPL would RATHER be facing Bagwell rather than Hennig, after all, any chance Levesque has to take on the Titans is a good day to him.....

.....the match is decent, it's pretty heated too.....especially since Shawn Michaels and Vince Russo decide to stick around at ringside, so there are shenanigans aplenty.....

.....particularly when this gentleman makes his way out.....

.....he storms down the aisle and starts yelling at Russo that he thought he made things clear, Buff Bagwell was NOT getting into this match tonight.....

.....Russo says that Bischoff made himself very clear, however (much as Bischoff did when he made Copeland and Cage's match against the Pitbulls a Dog-Collar match) an opportunity presented itself, so Russo took advantage of it.....

".....so what are you going to do about it bro?....."

.....Bagwell has found himself a little bit distracted by this new arrival, and he leans over the top rope to repeat Russo's question, what IS Bischoff going to do about it?.....

.....Russo is yelling at Bischoff, asking him what did he do......"what did you do bro? You can't do that".....Bischoff (quite rightly) points out that he didn't DO anything.....and neither did Piper.....but that doesn't mean that he won't.....

.....with that Bischoff pats Russo on the back and makes his way up the aisle, as Roddy climbs into the ring with a microphone.....

.....Buff is still flat on his back after eating that Pedigree though, so I don't know if he's going to hear what Piper has to say.....fortunately Russo is there to relay the message later.....

.....Roddy says that he knows how the Titans thought this was going to go down.....they thought they were going to take Roddy Piper out and he'd just go away.....

".....problem with that is, I've always been a little bit like one of those bad smells ya know.....you try to waft me away, but I'm always there in the background waiting to pop back at any moment.....

.....where Mean Gene is standing beside the towering figure that is Sid Vicious.....

.....Gene says that Sid has been vocal about two things as of late.....having the opportunity to compete for the WCW Championship, as well as expressing a desire to face the OTHER big man in WCW, The Giant.....

.....well, tonight he's doing neither.....but should he defeat Shawn Michaels next, then you would have to assume that the Championship Committee would have to consider Sid Vicious to be in line for a shot at the World Title SOMEWHERE down the line?.....

.....Sid is his usual intense self, as he stares unblinkingly at the camera, saying that while he was glad to see Sting retain the championship last night, part of him wanted the Giant to win, just so that he could kill two birds with one stone.....YES he wants the WCW Title.....YES he wants The Giant.....he would have LIKED to have accomplished both tasks at once.....

".....but The Giant, he couldn't get the job done.....see, he may call himself the Giant, but he's been here but a minute.....I've been the ONLY giant that matters in this business for a decade.....he might be a giant, but I.....I am the master.....and ruler.....of the world....."

.....Sid says that TONIGHT, it's Shawn Michaels.....a man he's faced before.....a man he knows well.....

".....a man I don't like....."

......Sid says that he CHOSE to return to WCW because he WANTS to be in WCW.....he's in WCW because this is where the competition is.....the big boys.....and when he's done with Shawn Michaels.....

".....Giant, I'm coming for YOU.....big boy....."

.....so it's main event time.....and if you'd been out of the loop in the world of wrestling recently, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were watching the WWF here, because it's Sid Vicious facing off against Shawn Michaels.....

.....these two gentlemen actually had the briefest of brief encounters last night, after Shawn Michaels found himself hurled into Vicious at the hands of Randy Savage (when the pair wound up backstage during their Tag Team encounter) an act that Big Sid didn't take too kindly.....I mean, such a random small act wouldn't be enough to start a feud or anything (I'm looking at you early 2000's WWE -_- ) but it certainly added a LITTLE bit of fire to this one.....

.....this match tore the house down some 18 months or so back, when these two clashed at a WWF event (the name and date of which escape me right now.....so let's just say it was somewhere between September and December of 1996 and they had another great match here.....

.....if there's one thing Shawn knows how to do, its sell his ass off for a monster.....he bounces around this ring like a man possessed and the crowd loves every minute of it, as the WCW hating loudmouth gets his comeuppance.....that is until Levesque (who's out there at ringside) catches Sid's ankle on the outside just long enough for Shawn to clip the knee, then he goes about keeping the big redwood down.....

.....it takes a lot to keep the seven foot Monster down though, which is probably why he eventually fights his way back into the match and again Shawn Michaels sells like his life depends on it.....even Levesque gets in on the action, hopping up onto the apron only to be decked, before finally Michaels goes for a ride with a massive Chokeslam.....

.....did someone say Chokeslam?.....

<img style="max-width:15%;

"src="https://i.imgur.com/ngncMpn.jpg">

.....that's gimmick infringement brother.....and it brings the Master of the Chokeslam out, just as Sid is about to prove that he's the Master of the Powerbomb, positioning Shawn for his signature move.....

.....Giant doesn't actually do anything, but his mere presence is enough to make Vicious toss Shawn Michaels to one side to turn his attention to the new arrival.....obviously a war of words breaks out, that only comes to an end when Giant points behind Sid.....

.....and the big man turns around and eats some Sweet Chin Music.....

.....Sid staggers backwards and hits the ropes, the force of which propels him back towards Michaels......

.....between them, the two men are able to drag Big Sid to a standing position, where Shawn asks the crowd if this is supposed to be one of those "big boys" that WCW is always preaching about, before Levesque position's Sid to deliver what looks to be a Pedigree attempt......

.....for now it seems that they are happy to remain in the ring and do nothing, because as Warrior bends down to retrieve the WCW Title (which he holds high in the air, placing one foot on the back of the unconscious Champion) Michaels yells down at Warrior that it doesn't matter who wins......Warrior.....Sting......it makes no difference.....

".....because after I beat Randy Savage all over that ring.....and I WILL beat Randy Savage all over that ring.....I'm coming for whichever one of you two make-up wearing freaks has that belt.....because I'm taking that piece of crap title that everyone wants......because I want it? Because I need it?.....no.....I'm taking that piece of crap title just because I can.....then you....the Titans.....Sting.....WCW.....all these fans.....you can all 'Suck It'....."

Week 1, February 1998

Core States Spectrum (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

ATT: 16,948

TV: 28.69

Announce Team: Tony Schiavone, Dusty Rhodes and Larry Zbyszko

<img style="max-width:15%;

"src="https://i.imgur.com/NDHKuSs.jpg">

We are well on the road towards the eighth annual SuperBrawl show and after a jam packed edition of WCW Monday Nitro just three days ago, we already have a good idea of what to expect, live on Pay Per View in just three weeks time.....

.....Sting will be putting the WCW Title on the line against his one time partner and friend, The Warrior.....The Forgotten will be defending their newly won WCW Tag Team Titles against (unlikely opponents) The Nasty Boys.....and (as a result of his victory this past Monday) Jean Paul Levesque will be challenging Eddie Guerrero for the WCW United States Championship.....

....although as we saw just three days ago, that's a highly sought after title....

.....Curt Hennig wanted the shot.....Buff Bagwell wanted the shot.....Jean Paul Levesque, he GOT the shot after picking up a win over the cocky Titan Member.....

.....and you know damn well that The Rock wanted a shot too.....

.....speaking of The Rock, the announcers are running down the format for the evening (upcoming matches etc) when they are rudely interrupted by the Turnertron flickering to life, at which point we see The Rock (sort of.....the shot is very shaky) dragging a WCW Camera Man through the backstage area......

.....Rocky says that before the announcers start running off at the mouth about what's going to happen tonight, The Rock wants to talk about what's going to happen at SuperBrawl.....

".....so watch your step camera one (because you're coming with the Great One) and Tony Schiavone, you can go ahead and tell everyone that this is the most important night in the history of the sport....because the ROCK is about to electrify his millions and millions of fans, and it don't get anymore important than that.....so go ahead and hit the most electrifying music in ALL of sports entertainment, so The Rock can make his entrance......go on......hit it......don't make The Rock come down to that production truck....because the Rock will take all your fancy buttons and dials, snatch that headset right off your dome, he'll gather them all together in a neat little pile, polish them up till they're shining brighter than Eddie Guerrero's greasy mullet, he's gonna turn that sumbich sideways and shove it STRAIGHT UP YOUR CANDY A......"

.....:::::!!!!!IF YA SMELLLLLLLLL......WHAT THE ROCK......IS COOKING!!!!!:::::.....

.....I don't know for sure where the Rock was going to shove that pile of production equipment.....I mean, I could take an educated guess, but the production monkeys obviously didn't like where that was going, so they did indeed hit the Rocks music, and after a few moments the man himself walks out from the back and down the aisle to a massive pop.....

.....he climbs into the ring (microphone in hand) and takes a few seconds to soak in the ovation, before letting everybody know exactly why he's here.....

".....see this is Thunder baby, this is the Rocks show and the Rock wasn't about to let what happened Monday night go by without having something to say about it.....

.....on Monday Night, The Rock was looking to do TWO things.....first things first, he was going to find that Bottle Blonde Piece of Minnesota Monkey Crap, Curt Hennig.....The Rock was gonna find him.....probably hiding in the back somewhere, shaking in that stupid little yellow onesie that he wrestles in.....I mean, it WASN'T yellow to begin with, but the fact that he knew that the Rock was about to find him and lay the smack down on his candy ass made him straight up p!ss his pants......

.....the Rock was gonna find Curt Hennig....he was gonna step over the puddle of p!ss (Curt have some dignity) he was gonna reach out the people's arm, and he was gonna slap the ugly right off his face.....now The Rock knows, he KNOWS that's a lot of ugly, so he was gonna set aside some time, clear his schedule......he had his secretary hold his calls, have his people call your people, stop the clock and slow it ALLLLLL down.....because he KNEW that slapping the ugly off'a Curt Hennig would take some time....."

.....Rock says that he WAS going to do all that, but Curt Hennig up and ran off like a little b!tch before Rocky had a chance to properly lay the smack down on him.....but that's ok, because he can't run forever, which meant that Rocky could do the SECOND thing that he wanted to do, ensure that he got another shot at Eddie Guerrero and the United States Championship.....except THAT didn't happen either.....

".....no it did not, no, no, no, no, no.....instead.....instead of The Rock, FINALLY getting a shot at that greasy little chihuahua with NO Junior Jumping Bean interfering....without Curt Hennig and his p!ss yellow pants.....The Rock and Eddie Guerrero, one on one with the Great One.....not two on one.....three on one.....four, five, six on one.....just THE most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment, giving the people.....HIS people.....what they want.....

.....and what did they get?.....they got Jipple the Nipple.....Jipple the Hairy Left Nipple will be facing Eddie Guerrero at SuperBrawl....."

.....Rocky says that the people can thank Vince Russo for that one, but don't worry.....you WILL see the Rock and JPL, and with the way Shawn Michaels keeps making friends around here, you'll probably see 'Mr. Wrestling' going one on one with the Great One too.....but it won't be at SuperBrawl.....Jipple has a match, Michaels has a match.....

.....and The Rock has a match.....

.....and that match.....is against Curt Hennig......

".....so Curt, no running, no hiding.....and The Rock knows that it gets cold up in Minnesota, The Rock knows that.....and The Rock also knows that you're not quite as 'perfect' as you used to be.....but at SuperBrawl, you're gonna have to warm up, stamp your feet and dust the snow off those shrivelled up old raisins that you call your balls, because while YOU might not be perfect, the Rocks boot is going to fit perfectly.....

.....straight up your candy ass.....

.....IF YA SMELLLLLLLLL......WHAT THE ROCK......IS COOKING....."

In recent weeks (and months) Lance Storm has found a number of sympathisers to his "America Sucks" movement.....it started with the Amazing French Canadians joining his cause, but more recently we have seen Her Majesty's Sovereignty of Canada and Great Britain working together against the common cause (or just 'Commoners' as his Lordship might say) when Steven Regal's Blue Bloods joined the war.....

.....of course, the flip side to that is that while Hacksaw Jim Duggan lead the initial charge, he TOO has found some allies along the way.....first The Road Warriors took exception to the Anti-USA Brigade, followed swiftly by Lex Luger (who knows a thing or two about American Pride.....Lex Express anyone?) Diamond Dallas Page (seemingly much to the annoyance of his impatient partner, who wants to go back after the tag team titles) and finally, a gentleman who witnessed this from all the way over in Japan where he HAD been working (forcing him to climb on to the back of a Bald Eagle, apple pie in one hand and a WCW contract in the other, and fly swiftly back to the Home of the Brave) The Patriot.....

.....it's The Patriot that's in action in our opening contest, facing off against Earl Robert (a gentleman who has adopted Great Britain as his homeland since associating with Mr. Regal) and not for the first time.....these two clashed regularly a few years back in Tag Team action, back when the Blue Bloods were relatively newly formed, while Patriot was teaming with Marcus Bagwell in Stars and Stripes.....its singles action tonight though, and to be fair, while The Patriot is not the greatest worker in the world, he's certainly passable, so the fact that he's in there with a ring veteran like Eaton means that the match is decent enough.....

.....in the end though, it would be pretty dumb to have old Stars and Bars Face lose his debut match, so after Eaton missed his Alabama Jam top rope Leg Drop (or Tower of London Leg Drop maybe.....I dunno, did he ever rename it after becoming an honorary Brit?) Patriot was able to catch him with the 'Uncle Slam', for the one, the two.....and the three.....

.....oh my, His Lordship is NOT happy that this red, white and blue clad Patriot just besmirched The Earl like that, and he's on his way out (with The Duke by his side) to give The Patriot a piece of his mind.....

.....he tells the American that all this hoo-ha and gusto is exactly why the rest of the word despises these classless "yanks", telling Patriot (while decked out in full Blue Blood regalia by the way) that all their gaudy outfits, tacky Stars and Stripes clothing and their "try hard" false patriotism is exactly what's wrong with this wretched country.....

".....you try to hard sunshine, decked out in your Stars and Stripes like you're a bloody beacon of Americana.....the only Stripes you and all your little friends SHOULD be wearing, should be black and white, because Her Majesty should arrest the lot of you, your whole bloody country, and throw you in the Tower of London for treason.....stamping your feet for independence like the petulant little lot that you are....."

.....Regal says that Her Majesty wouldn't ever say so publicly, but she is delighted that her sovereign nations have United to take down the scourge of Old Glory once and for all.....

".....and that means that YOU sunshine, are in for a VERY long night....."

.....that little speech gave The Earl plenty of time to recover, which means that The Patriot is now all alone against three men.....

.....but only briefly.....

.....because the two men that joined the fight this past Monday (along WITH The Patriot) now make their way out from the back, and with Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page in the ring too, the Blue Bloods decide to bail.....

.....Patriot grabs Steven Regals discarded microphone, to deliver an "America....F#%k Yeah!" speech that rally's the crowd behind him, before Page grabs the microphone himself to challenge His Lordship to a match later this evening.....a challenge that the furious Regal quickly accepts, before Page lets him know in no uncertain terms.....

.....we air a brief promo for SuperBrawl and when we return, it's to the sight of James Vandenberg leading his troops towards the ring.....

.....this Sinister Minister grabs a microphone (he does love to talk) to tell the crowd that contrary to who they (or anyone else) may believe, the Cruiserweight Championship is not just some trinket to be passed around.....

.....Vandenberg says that he worked too hard to bring this purified prize into his fold, and despite the tainted touch of Jeff Hardy already being placed upon it, he and his minions have ensured that all trace of that (short) reign has been cleansed from the gleaming gold title, that now sits about the waist of Hayabusa.....

".....Juventud Guerrera, you may believe that the simple task of SAYING that you wish to challenge for this prestigious championship is enough to ensure you a chance to compete against MY Hayabusa, but you would be very, very wrong.....you don't tell US that you want the shot, we will tell YOU when you deserve the shot....."

.....not that Vandenberg has any problem in Hayabusa defending the title (he'll have you know) but this isn't the James Vandenberg Dream Factory.....if Juventud Guerrera wishes to compete against Hayabusa, then he's going to have to earn it.....but for now (and, I guess in an effort to prove that they're not ducking anyone deliberately) Vandenberg says that they ARE prepared to put the WCW Cruiserweight Championship on the line right NOW against anyone not named either Juventud Guerrera OR Jeff Hardy.....

.....Vandenberg says that Guerrera's impertinent presumption has disqualified him from this opportunity, while Jeff Hardy is now an afterthought as far as Vandenberg.....but if anyone else believes that they have what it takes to compete against Hayabusa, then by all means come on down.....

.....a free title shot? You know that's not going to be passed up for long.....and it's Super Crazy that quickly makes his way out from the back to take Vandenberg up on that offer.....

.....this match (while no five star classic) is as exciting as hell.....both men are happy to throw caution to the wind.....Hayabusa because it's just in his daredevil nature and Super Crazy because, well, he's super crazy.....

.....the two men throw caution to the wind as they wow the crowd, but in the end (thanks in part to the fact that Mortis and Shinzaki stick around at ringside and aren't shy about interfering) it's Hayabusa that picks up the victory, finishing off Crazy with the Phoenix Splash.....

.....from there we go to a pre-recorded segment, focusing on the physical therapy regime of the current Television Champion, Bill Goldberg.....

.....Goldberg currently has around 13 days to receive medical clearance to defend his Championship within the mandatory 30 day window, and unfortunately, while Goldberg would probably be willing to put that title on the line right here tonight, it's those two pesky words that are holding him back.....the "medical clearance" part of the sentence.....

.....we have a quick cut-away to one medical professional (before we switch to a voice over that plays over the top of a Goldberg work-out montage) who doesn't believe that Goldberg is far off being fit to perform.....HOWEVER.....while he would love nothing more than to see Bill Goldberg running through people with that Spear, he can NOT in good conscious, clear the Television Champion until he is medically fit to perform.....

.....13 days.....

.....will Goldberg be fit to perform?.....

.....I wouldn't bet against him.....especially not with the intensity that he's putting into his rehabilitation.....

.....and as if to emphasise the point, we finish off the segment with a shot of Goldberg working over a training dummy down at the gym.....

.....a training dummy that is currently wearing what looks like an Eddie Guerrero shirt.....

.....if Goldberg DOES make it back in time to defend his Television Championship, surely it's only a matter of time before he crosses paths with the Papi of Perfection.....after all, it was the Dos Guerrero's that put this undefeated rookie on the shelf.....

".....because Eric Bischoff knows that he has the dancing ability of an uncoordinated oxen beast....."

.....ohhh, burn.....

.....ok, not really, but English isn't Alex's first language so cut him some slack.....

.....Disco takes over, saying that WCW if full of people who don't have either the good taste, or musical ability of Alex Wright and the Disco Inferno.....

".....Alex is a cultured Euro-Techno connoisseur, while I am the Mack Daddy of Disco, taking what's Not and making it Hot again.....and Eric Bischoff, if that IS your real name, you can make fun of our names.....our wrestling style.....our hair......but don't you EVER make fun of our dancing.....because we're about to Techno Inferno all over the faces of Ernest Miller and Ice Train....."

.....Disco scoffs at the Soul Train team name as he (completely un-ironically) points out that this ain't 1970 anymore and Soul hasn't been relevant in 20 years.....but he says that after he and Alex take care of these two tonight, Eric Bischoff will HAVE to give them a title opportunity.....

".....because I gotta tell you Disco, yo' heads too fat to be wearing that hair helmet, I'm about to whup the mousse right on outta that mess.....and Alex, Das WonderBread or whatever you called, I heard your music man.....it sounds like a dumper truck reversing over a box of kittens....."

.....well one things for sure in this match, someone is picking up a rare win.....

.....I said before that Thunder was always going to be more of a Home for Wayward Wrestlers.....the men that rarely make it onto Monday Nitro (or the men that only ever LOSE on Monday Nitro) but still have plenty to offer.....Miller and Train are one such combination, mainly acting as the team that puts the other team over, but Miller has talent (and a mouth) while Train is decent (with a good look) so they could probably do more than just job......

.....Wright and Disco on the other hand have primarily acted as jobbers in the fledgling Cruiserweight Division as of late (with the occasional tag team match) but again, both (perhaps Wright more so) are decent in the ring and really should be showcased more.....

.....hello WCW Thunder.....

.....for what it's worth (and both teams respective placement on the roster) this was a decent match.....Ice Train used his far superior strength to toss Wright and Disco around like rag dolls, while Miller went about kicking their heads in with those martial arts (front leg back kick that time fans) blows.....in the end though, it was Disco and Alex who picked up that elusive victory, after a spot of partner miscommunication saw Wright roll up Miller from behind for the one, two, three.....

.....and god damn are Wright and Disco happy with that victory, strutting all the way up the aisle where they start busting moves on the entrance way.....they said that they were here tonight to prove that they're no jokes and I guess they went part way to proving that, although let's be honest, Ernest Miller and Ice Train are no Big Van Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow.....

.....speaking of Ernest Miller, he's far less happy.....and he seems to be blaming his partner for that loss.....clearly after running his mouth before the match, Mr. Miller looks a little bit foolish now and he's quick to tell Ice Train that it was his fault.....although, as Ice Train rightfully points out, it was Ernest that had his shoulders pinned to the mat, not Train.....

.....there looks to be a real danger of these two coming to blows here, but fortunately Teddy Long is there to play peace maker, so reluctantly the two men curb their disagreement, before heading to the back with their manager.....

.....remember how I said that Thunder was like the Home of Wayward Wrestlers? Case in point is the promo package that we play next, highlighting the assaults that the Samoan SWAT Team have been receiving in recent months, finished up with the reveal that their assailants were actually gentlemen that they know very well.....because they're related to them.....

.....last week we found out that the former Yokozuna was leading a group of younger, renegade Samoans to take out the SST.....why? Well, we don't actually know that yet.....but two members of the group are in action next, as Ekmo and Kimo face off against the Public Enemy.....

.....Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge haven't had the best of time as of late.....not a huge amount of tv time, not to mention the fact that when we last saw them (this past Monday Night) they were getting destroyed by The Forgotten.....

.....perhaps they will take that beating and use it to explain why they were quite so overwhelmed here against these Samoan Youngblood's, because while this wasn't a squash by any stretch of the imagination, Ekmo and Kimo were never really in any trouble, with Ekmo picking up the victory after crushing Grunge with a splash from the top rope.....

.....Mike Tenay makes his way out (as Kokina and LA Smooth join Ekmo and Kimo in the ring) and he has that question ready that we didn't know the answer to earlier.....

.....why?.....

.....Kokina seems to be leading the group (or at least guiding them) and so does most of the talking.....as for why, he says that's pretty simple.....he says that for years now (primarily because of his own blood) the world has seen Islanders as nothing more than moronic savages.....coconut picking, fish eating, snarling mutes.....they see Samoans as nothing more than a stereotype, a stereotype that's set to be handed down to the Ekmo's, the Kimo's, the LA Smooth's.....a stereotype that couldn't be further from the truth.....

.....Kokina says that he's felt the touch of stereotyping himself, except that instead of being branded a mute Samoan Savage, he was branded a mute Japanese Savage (and no one batted a damn eye) stripped away of his identity, his name and his voice.....

".....well no more Mike Tenay.....take a good look at these men here.....they ain't Grass Skirt wearing Samoan Savages.....they savage, don't get me wrong, but they ain't wild beasts.....they step between these ropes and they'll savagely remove your spinal cord from ya brain stem, but they GOT a brain.....they got a mouth.....a voice.....they got their own damn identities and ain't no one gonna take it from them....."

.....Kokina says that it's 1998, the new millennium is right around the corner and while Fatu and Samu are stuck in the dark age, Ekmo, Kimo and Smooth are the face of the 21st Century Samoan Dynasty.....look at them.....ain't no grass skirt, lei's or bare feet between them.....

".....this is not the next generation, this is the REAL generation.....this is the future and THESE, these are The Lumana'i.....remember the name Tenay, because after they're done eradicating the memory of their Samoan Sellout family, they're gonna be running things around here, and ain't no one gonna stop them....."

....is that so? Well they certainly look like a force to be reckoned with.....maybe Vader and Bam Bam had better make sure that they don't 'Forget' to monitor the progress of this group.....

.....from there we head to the back, where Diamond Dallas Page and Kimberly are preparing for Page's upcoming match with Lord Steven Regal.....

.....Benoit looks down at his 'partner' before shaking his head, leaving Page to ask him what the problem is? Benoit is a man of few words, but he doesn't mince them either, telling Dallas that he thought they MIGHT consider making a challenge to The Forgotten tonight.....you know, reclaim those titles that they lost at Souled Out.....

".....but I guess you're busy tonight eh?....."

.....Page tells Benoit that he thought they'd cleared this up.....he says that it's bad enough to sit back and listen to Shawn Michaels and Jean Paul Levesque run down his company, but he can't just sit back and watch as two jack-off's like Lance Storm and Steven Regal continue to run down HIS country as well.....the country (by the way) that affords Chris Benoit a very good living.....

".....so cut me some slack, jack.....or better still, how about you do something about it yourself.....how about you go out there and shut Regal up.....how about you tell Lance Storm that this ain't Canada.....tell Regal that this most certainly ain't Great Britain.....tell them that you are PROUD of this great country? How about that?.....or is it a case of Canadian Pride?....."

.....Benoit tells Page that he didn't become a cheerleader as his chosen career, he became a professional wrestler.....he became a professional wrestler because he wanted to be the BEST, not to get involved in petty squabbles.....he says that he could care less Lance Storms opinion of America, of Steven Regals opinion of the USA, or even Dallas Page's opinion on Canada.....all he cares about is becoming a CHAMPION.....if he doesn't have a tag team partner the. He can't become a Tag Team Champion.....so maybe he won't GO for the tag team titles, maybe he'll got for the US Title.....maybe he'll go for the World title.....maybe he'll just go back to doing what he does best......

.....I mean, not next or anything, but he does have a match.....

.....we do HAVE a match now though, as Jeff Hardy looks to put the disappointment of his Cruiserweight Championship loss to Hayabusa to the back of his mind, as he looks to get back to winning ways.....

.....it's unclear right now where Jeff Hardy's attention lies.....obviously James Vandenberg believes their storybook has closed, but has Jeff decided the same thing? This is a man after all that challenged Randy Savage of all people for disrespecting the Cruiserweight Division, is Jeff really ready to turn his back on that stage of his career?.....

.....I'm sure we will find out in coming weeks......

.....THIS week however he's not in there with a Cruiserweight, but he is in there with a man that moves like one.....

.....Jimmy Hart has reformed his First Family, with the Faces of Fear, VK Wallstreet.....and this man, Hugh Morrus.....

.....Hugh picked up a big debut victory at Souled Out when he defeated Konnan (with more than just a little help from Wallstreet) and he'll be looking to continue those winning ways here tonight.....of course, that might be easier said than done.....I mean, Morrus might be able to fly for a big man, but he's not going to out fly Jeff Hardy.....his best bet here would be to use his power.....IF he can catch the former Cruiserweight Champion first.....

.....the two have a decent big man/small man match.....Jeff sells for Hugh like he's getting killed when Jimmy Harts man is on the offence, while when it's time for Hardy to shine, Morrus returns the favour.....

.....finally Hardy manages to take firm control, even getting Morrus down long enough to climb the turnbuckles, only to come crashing down with that Swanton Bomb, that surely is enough for the three count.....

.....or it would have been.....but it seems like Jimmy Hart would rather take a DQ loss over a pinfall one, sending VK Wallstreet into the ring to break up the cover before the referee can strike three, which is enough to draw the disqualification.....

.....The Rock tells Shawn Michaels that he doesn't particularly like the Titans of Wrestling.....NO ONE really likes the Titans of Wrestling.....so the fact that The Rock is actually rooting for Randy Savage to bounce Michaels head off that steel cage should tell everyone how much of a monumental jackass Shawn Michaels is.....the fact that The Rock (after getting cheated twice) is rooting for Eddie Guerrero to kick JPL's ass at SuperBrawl, should tell everyone just how much of a haemorrhoid Levesque is.....so maybe after he gets his ass kicked at SuperBrawl, Shawn Michaels does the world a favour.....

.....he didn't hit it though, because Earl Eaton began stalking Kimberly on the outside, which distracted the official long enough for Duke Douglas to climb into the ring.....Dallas stepped away from Regal, and DID manage to drop Williams with the Diamond Cutter, but the distraction was enough for Regal to clock Page in the back of the head with a set of Brass Knuck's, picking up a (very) tainted pinfall victory.....

.....ah Shawn Michaels.....what a wonderful douchebag you are.....he stands over Sid with that cocky smirk on his face, throwing Crotch Chops at the downed seven footer, before helping Levesque to his feet.....

.....the two men point and laugh at Sid for a moment, before shrugging their shoulders and deciding to have a little more fun by putting the boots to the big man.....

.....a two on one beatdown? Not on The Rock's show baby.....and the Great One comes rushing down the aisle.....

.....there are clearly already tensions brewing between Rocky and the two Outsiders, and after their interaction it's obvious that Rocky has little time for either Michaels or Levesque.....

.....it doesn't look like Michaels and Levesque have any time for Rock either.....any time to fight that is.....because they quickly bail to the outside and onto the floor as The Rock slides into the ring, making a hasty exit (and laughing all the way) as Rocky stands eagerly inviting them back into the ring.....

.....they don't come back though.....so I guess it's only fair that on the Rock's show, after the Rock opened, we close with a shot of the Great One standing tall on the turnbuckles.....

challenge earlier in the show, the challenge for ANY former ECW Champion to meet him in the ring tonight and surprisingly it was everybody's favourite underdog that accepted the challenge.....</p><p> </p><p> .....now, in all fairness Mikey isn't the most imposing of former champions.....but while he's small in stature, he's big in heart, which is why he can claim to hold a victory over not only the current ECW Champion The Sandman, but top WWF superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin too, after defeating Austin back at 1995's November to Remember event.....</p><p> </p><p> .....Credible has a point to prove though.....he's young, he's hungry, he's bold and brash, but most importantly, he wants a shot at that ECW Title......now defeating a former Champion has got to get him one step closer to that goal.....</p><p> </p><p> .....so defeat a former Champion is exactly what he does.....</p><p> </p><p> .....Mikey fights valiantly, but in the end this 24 year old upstart proves to be too much for Whipwreck to handle, as he gets put away (much as Balls Mahoney did a few weeks back) with that Spinning Tombstone Piledriver for the one, two, three......</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> Justin Credible</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> C</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" href="https://i.imgur.com/z4kRmpJ.jpg" rel="external nofollow">https://i.imgur.com/z4kRmpJ.jpg"></a></p><p> </p><p> .....Credible takes a microphone to tell these Philly fans that is THIS is the calibre of the champions that they've had around here, it's no WONDER they're still stuck in this crappy little Bingo Hall.....</p><p> </p><p> .....he tells them not to worry though.....because Justin Credible is here to take them to the promised land.....Justin Credible is here to get them NationWide TV, not these three am graveyard shots on the local markets.....Justin Credible is here to get them sponsorships.....video games.....</p><p> </p><p> <em>".....Pay Per View....."</em></p><p> </p><p> .....Justin Credible is here to make ECW the promotion it COULD be......less of the Extreme, more of the Entertainment.....</p><p> </p><p> <em>".....Sports Entertainment.....because that's where the money lies.....none of these losers in the back can get to the WWF, because let's face it, they're not on that level.....but you know what they say, if you can't get to the WWF......then I'll bring the WWF to you......"</em></p><p> </p><p> .....predictably that causes some considerable heat, with a duelling chant of "F%#k You Aldo" and "Vince Sucks Di....." well, you know......</p><p> </p><p> .....Justin ain't finished though, telling the crowd that he knows change is hard to accept, but in all honesty, they're going to have no choice but to accept it.....because if Justin Credible says he's going to do it, then you can take that to the bank.....</p><p> </p><p> .....Justin Credible is going to make ECW.....he is going to BE the ECW Champion.....and he is damn sure going to put Terry Funk out to pasture, once he's done kicking The Sandman's drunk ass.....and that's not just the coolest......that's not the best.....</p><p> </p><p> <em>".....that.....is Justin Credible.....and all we have to do, is take out some of these 'Extreme' losers.....starting with this one right here....."</em></p><p> </p><p> .....with that, Credible grabs his stolen Singapore Cane and uses it to go to town on poor Mikey, who gets beaten like a cheap steak.....</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img style="max-width:15%;</p><p> "src="<a href="https://i.imgur.com/WDDFPo8.jpg" rel="external nofollow">https://i.imgur.com/WDDFPo8.jpg"></a></p><p> </p><p> .....at least until Terry Funk comes walking out from the back (with a steel chair in each hand) launching one chair in Credibles direction, while climbing into the ring with the other one still in hand.....</p><p> </p><p> .....Credible quickly bails, telling Funk that while he'd love to kick his wrinkled up old ass, he just competed in one match, and the Philadelphia State Athletic Committee would NOT want him competing again so soon.....and since he's trying to legitimise this place, he wants the committee on side......</p><p> </p><p> <em>".....so for the good of all these fans and for the good of ECW.....I'm just going to leave....."</em></p><p> </p><p> .....and with that, Credible disappears, leaving Funk to stomp around the ring calling him a yellow b@stard......</p><p> </p><p> <em>"......you yellow belly, egg sucking son of a b!tch.....you ugly, buck tooth </em><em><a href="mailto:" rel="">b@stard.....you</a></em><em> want a fight, I'll give you a fight....."</em></p><p> </p><p> .....and so on and so forth.....</p><p> </p><p> .....Terry Funk says that he doesn't care less about no damn Athletic Committee.....all he cares about is the ECW Title and he'd wrestle 15 times tonight alone if it meant he got a shot at The Sandman.....</p><p> </p><p> <em>".....in fact, when I'm done kicking the ass of that big stuttering son of a b!tch later, maybe I'll stick around and see who's holding that belt.....and maybe the Philadelphia State Athletic Committee, Justin Credible, AND the WWF can kiss my ass......because this is ECW.....this IS extreme.....and I want that title....."</em></p><p> </p><p> .....sounds to me like Terry Funk is planning on challenging the winner of our ECW Title match.....</p><p> </p><p> .....of course, he's got to get past Buh Buh Ray Dudley first.....and we will be seeing that match.....next week......</p><p> </p><p> .....we'll see you then.....</p><p> </p><p> .....roll those f%#^ing credits.....</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> B+</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Final Rating:</strong> C+</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p>
