By popular demand, Movie Tycoon has once again returned to the GDS Theatre in time for the end of the ‘Summer Blockbuster’ month. For the last six years, Movie Tycoon has been the go to forum game for people to create stories to their heart’s content.

Can you maneuver your way and make a name for yourself in the forever evolving world of Hollywood? Or will you be found in the darkest realms of Tinsel Town?

Basics:

All studios get $10,000,000 to get themselves started out. No studio can go higher than that.

Every day, players will get to make their own movies with whoever they want.

There is a catch, if there at any time gets to a point where three movies are in need of review; I will request a temporary halt in production until the reviews are finished.

To sign up, write your studio’s name and the name of the studio.

When done, proceed to make your movie!

Step One: Casting and Pre-Production

Before anything else, you must tell us what this movie is about and the title, genre, rating, the summary of your plot and the roles in the movie.

NEW: Genres now have detailed ‘peachy oranges’ or benefits you can reap and ‘rotten tomatoes’ or obstacles you may have. Here now is a list of them.

Action:

Extremely profitable if good.

You don’t have to worry too much of story, people will eat it up regardless.

CGI and other special effects all feel like at home here.

Tends to need a big budget.

A bad director can also mess up these films.

Adventure:

Free to use your creativity.

Pairs up well with all genres (except Horror)

Don’t necessary have to be big to be successful.

CGI and Special Effects are a must here.

Probably the easiest genre to write for.

If you opt for a bigger production, prepare to have a big budget.

A flop can really damage your prospects, especially if the lead actors fail.

Comedy:

Super versatile in their usage. (Black, Slapstick, Gross, Raunchy, you name it!)

Goes well with other genres.

Usually successful at the box office.

Don’t need as big a budget most of the time.

Can be for pretty much any audience.

If it fails, it fails hard.

Should the lead actors fail, the movie is more likely to tank.

Not exactly for everyone.

Drama:

Like with action, drama attracts a ton of people when done right.

Failures don’t hurt as much that being said.

Pairs up really other with other genres.

Can kick start a career if the actor in question performs well.

Need really good lead performances to truly survive.

Tend to be passed on if they have a lackluster story.

Has to be handled maturely for audiences.

Fantasy:

You can create worlds to your heart’s content.

Massive appeal to imaginative people.

Can make for potential franchises if successful.

Special effects is a must here.

Need a crazy high budget in order to succeed.

Coming up with a world may not be so easy.

Horror/Thriller:

Has a die hard audience of fans.

You can go crazy with fight scene if you wish.

You don’t have to worry about a huge budget. (Though it helps)

Can take the form of a Thriller if you really want to.

Not as profitable as it once was.

Has a very select group of people who will watch.

Can look incredibly cheesy if your budget is too low.

Romance:

Pair ups with Drama, Comedy and Musicals are a must.

No worry on budgets here unless you want it to be epic.

Big time popular and among the oldest genres in cinema.

Can be very relatable.

Chemistry is everything, if the lead acts don’t connect; the movie falls apart.

Very boring if done poorly.

Science Fiction:

One of the most popular film genres of all time. Expect souls in seats unless it really bombs.

CGI gets a mandatory usage here.

Creativity is key to make the film a success here.

Can take place in almost anywhere.

The budget has to be huge to truly make airwaves.

If these movies fail, they tend to fall on their face.

Not that versatile genre wise.

Western:

Among the oldest genre of theatre.

Don’t really need that many special effects to be fun.

Can do just about any genre there is.

Let’s be honest, it is nowhere near popular as it once was.

Still needs a relatively hefty budget.

NEW for Movie Tycoon 6: In order to keep the game relevant for future editions, I have decided to introduce five new genres in this edition of Movie Tycoon. Some that have been unofficially been a part of the game and others that are making their debut here.

Adult Film:

Decency is thrown out of the window.

Can be done with little to no budget at all.

Sex appeal matters a lot.

Only for the most mature of audiences.

Usually looked at as the sleazy end of movies.

Severe hiring restrictions. (Anyone with SP higher than 2.5 will not take part, minors also cannot take part for obvious reasons)

Animation:

Can be paired up with any genre.

Is also versatile and be used for almost anything.

The one genre that anyone can enjoy.

A decent budget is usually enough to help a movie.

A good director will bring the movie up ten-fold and bring up even lackluster performances sometimes.

Can be 2D, CGI, Anime, Stop motion or Clay animated.

A botch in the direction will damage the movie’s credibility.

R rated animated films are a rarity and may not perform as well.

Musical:

Have a huge fanbase that can give you a lot of money.

Goes insanely well with animation, comedy, drama and romance.

Can have a ton of songs placed to fill time or continue the plot.

Can take place anywhere in anytime and have any type of music.

Acting and singing is crucial here. Bad performances will kill the movie.

A bad director will also rattle your box office.

A big budget is usually necessary.

Political:

Usually very relatable to people and can give an inside look at what politics is like.

Has a decent sized audience.

If you play your cards right, very topical subjects can be made into great films.

Goes extremely well with Drama and Comedy.

Also inevitably going to be irrelevant at some point.

Not that versatile a genre.

Short Stories:

Perfect if you can’t think of a long movie and have time to spare.

Can literally be about anything. Has no genre restrictions.

Can have as many as five stories.

Multiple directors can take part.

If one story is especially successful, it could lead to a larger movie down the line.

Anything that applies to other genres you can apply there if you decide to do said route.

Summarizing the plot is crucial, if you do a really good job at it; you will get your potential cast more interested in the product.

The rating of the movie (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17) will also have an effect in the box office and physical copy revenue and in a few cases may not even be applicable. (No lower than R for Adult films, no higher than R for political films)

Established talent is a good safety boat if you wish to avoid an unexpected surprise, a 1.0 doing bad is worse than a 3.0 doing bad.

On the other hand, if the unknown talent is good at their role, this can help kickstart a career and even take a lower wage. (As opposed to the established who cost a lot of money)

If you find that you are overspending, don’t be afraid to haggle around and try to negotiate special deals with your potential cast.

A bad production budget makes everything a little amateurish, so try not to aim too low a budget. That being said, don’t aim too high either, if it flops; you could wind up losing big.

A big marketing campaign always helps make a film more successful in the box office.

ADDITIONAL INFO» Star Power [sP] is used within Movie Tycoon as a gauge of popularity rather than raw talent. The bigger the [sP], the bigger the check. Box office hits occur far more likely with a cast abundant with [sP], especially important to remember when considering the lead roles for your movies. As talent take part in movies, their [sP] and Directing [DIR] can change for better or worse, depending on their performance and the movie's box office potency. The more screen time talent have in a movie that does well critically or commercially, the more their [sP] and [DIR] will rise. Thus it is absolutely possible to build up a nobody to star status, if given the right movie and enough screen time.

STAR POWER

0.1 - 0.5 Barely Recognizable

0.6 - 1.0 Recognizable

1.1 - 1.5 Known

1.6 - 2.0 Well Known

2.1 - 2.5 Minor Draw

2.6 - 3.0 Major Draw

3.1 - 3.5 Minor Star

3.6 - 4.0 Star

4.1 - 4.5 Major Star

4.6 - 5.0 Mega Star

» Talent Chemistry can dramatically affect the flow of the movie. Completely randomly generated.

» If you want to use a book, comic or something else considered copyrighted you can make a request and I will reply to your request with the copyright owner’s demands. As with any negotiation, you may attempt to haggle, however there is no guarantee the company will bend to your will.

NEW: Starting in this edition, studios now have the ability to buy more than one franchise at a time; so if there is a crossover you’ve always wanted to see, this is your chance to make it happen. Just be careful, as it will come at a certain price.

ROUGH TALENT COST ESTIMATES

» Director: 1.25 * Directing

» Lead Role: 1.5 * Star Power

» Major Role: 0.75 * Star Power

» Minor Role: 0.25 * Star Power

+ 0.25 for nudity

HOW I REVIEW:

For this edition, the reviewing system for the game will be getting a significant upgrade. Instead of rambling on a certain part of a film or simply going through it, I will be using four categories to help review a film. All of which on a scale of 1 to 5. This will help me fairly judge a movie on it’s own values and give you a much more detailed look at what the movie did right and what could have been done better.

Story Quality: Was the writing any good or the actions of the characters believable?

Production Quality: Was the standard of production up to standard?

Acting Quality: Did the actors in question do a good job in what they do?

Ending Quality: Does the movie wrap up nicely or does it leave you slightly cheated?

Overall: Basically, the final score of the movie summing everything up graded from 1 to 5; 5 being an absolute masterpiece and 1 being an epic disaster.

LADY LUCK (Half stolen from Flame Snoopy)

» Every talent will get a Performance Rating [PERF] once they work on a movie. High [sP] stars have a better base [PERF]. After talent chemistry and base value is taken into account, Lady Luck comes into play and gives the final touch to the [PERF]. If talent's [PERF] is heavily below their [sP] or [DIR], the stat in question will decrease, depending on the overall success of the movie. A weak performance in a hit movie is far more forgiving to [sP] losses.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Upon further testing and evaluation, it has been noted that the old system used was quite a lot more focused on the negative towards actor performances, to rectify this situation and to prevent disenfranchisement; we will be reverting back to the 1-50 system used in Movie Tycoon: Reborn (Ayden). Despite this, we will keeping the way SP is decided for 0.9-1.0 moments and give it much a bigger emphasis.

In Context:

1-10: Disastrous performance, loses 0.5 to 2.0 SP depending on the randomizer and the actor's SP and gets a negative story written about him or her for Misc. Inf.

11-20: Bad performance, loses 0.5 to 1.5 depending on the randomizer and the actor's SP.

21-25: Below average performance, loses 0.1 to 0.5 SP depending on the randomizer and the actor's SP.

26-30: Average performance, no change.

31-35: Above average performance, gains 0.1 to 0.5 SP depending on the randomizer.

36-40: Good performance, gains 0.5 to 1.5 SP depending on the randomizer

40-45: Great performance, gains 1.0 to 3.0 SP depending on the randomizer.

46-50: Masterful performance, gains 1.0-4.0 SP depending on the randomizer and gets a positive story written about him or her for Misc. Inf.

EXTRAS: (By HTRVAndrew)

Every studio has the option of filling one (AND ONLY ONE) minor role per film with an extra, at the cost of $100k. Said extra will not have a name and will not be added to the database. They will be complete unknowns, with star power of 0.0. What this means is that they will not contribute anything positive to the movie with their acting performances, and could, in fact, contribute negatively towards the film's final rating depending on the dice roll/Lady Luck factor. Having said that, this is an option in play for studios on smaller budgets, or those who don't have an idea on an actor to play a certain small part in a film.

To clarify once again, here are the limitations of the Extra Rule: Extras cannot fill lead or major roles, and you may only use one per film. Do not expect a cheap extra to come out of nowhere and become a star, as this rule is my version of the old axiom, "you get what you pay for." At best, the acting quality will be 0, and negative results are still very possible. With that in mind, it is still preferable to search the database and find actors that are more well-known. However, there are certain instances (especially early in the game) where using the Extra Rule could be a good idea.

AWARDS CEREMONY

Every-time we get a total of twenty new movies made, I will conduct an awards ceremony to honor the best and worst movies made out of the bunch. Please note, this will be all in good fun and not an indictment of your writing ability.

The categories are as followed:

Most Disappointing: (The worst performance from an actor in a big budget movie, any actor or actress that scored less than 20 out of 50 in a big budget movie is eligible.)

Worst Performance: (Any performance that drops someone over 1.0 SP is on this list or otherwise)

Worst Film: (Any film that received lower than 2.0 out of of 5)

Most Potential: (An award for first time studios who have the potential to do good things in future games. Must have at least one movie that’s around 2.5 out of 5 or higher)

Best Story: (Any movie that received a 4 or higher in story quality is eligible in this category)

Best Production Budget: (Any movie that received a 4 or higher in production quality is eligible in this category)

Best Supporting Actor: (Any supporting actor that got a 40 or higher is eligible for this award)

Best Supporting Actress: (Any supporting actress that got a 40 or higher is eligible for this award)

Best Actor: (Any actor that received a 40 out of 5 or higher is eligible for this award)

Best Actress: (Any actor that received a 40 out of 5 or higher is eligible for this award)

Best Movie: (All movies that receive a 4 out of 5 qualify for the category. And it helps that it’s the biggest category of them all)

ADDITIONAL NEW FEATURES: In the never-ending effort to keep Movie Tycoon up to date, I have added several new features to this version and a couple I've decided to bring back. Outside from the ones mentioned previously, here are some of the new things to expect in this edition of Movie Tycoon.

(Cue Price is Right theme)

* How an actor feels on a certain script will now play a larger role in this game, so if there is a certain plot that an actor finds has potential; he/she has a chance of doing better than expected to make sure the movie is as good as possible. The opposite effect can happen when they are not 'feeling' the script.

* Starting in this edition; movies have the potential to be 'cult classics', that is; they may flop in the box office, but thanks to the internet or a surprisingly good run in physical copy sells sees new life and is loved for it.

* Misc. Information will be making a triumphant return in this game, as it was missed last time around. Like with versions before, it will serve as not just to tell you what events occurred but also to give you tips and explain further as to how a movie was rated the way that it was.

* This rule is what i'd like to call the 'Noobyboy' rule in honor of perhaps the most infamous player in the first Movie Game; and perhaps of all time. (It can also be called the 'Ed Wood' rule if you would like) If you are making deliberately bad movies; you will get deliberately negative reviews. If someone makes three deliberately bad movies or outs themselves out as a troll, you will automatically go bankrupt and will not be allowed to re-enter the game. This is supposed to be a game for fun, not a game to see who can make the worst movie idea. (On a more personal note: If you haven't already; go see Black Wayz and Visions to see examples on how NOT to play this game)

* A new mini-game is being introduced for those who are waiting for a movie to be released called 'Estimation Evaluation', based on the Guess the Tomatometer threads on Rotten Tomatoes; you now have the opportunity to estimate a unreviewed movie's potential score. You will have a best case scenario, a worst case scenario and your most likely scenario, here now is it's format.

(Studio Name)'s Estimation Evaluation for (Movie)

Best Case:

Worst Case:

Likely Case:

What does this add to the game? Nothing really, I just wanted to give you guys something fun to do while you wait for the reviews to come out.

* And finally, perhaps the biggest game-changer in the game's history; for the first time ever, If at any time a studio is struggling to come up with an idea or simply struggling with their movie, they may call for an 'Act of God'. If this is activated, they are free to PM anyone currently in the game to help them out. (Yes, even I am available to be PM'ed if you wish) Maybe there's a certain storyline in a movie that needs fixing up or you aren't really feeling the characters or if there's an idea you've really wanted to try but you want to run it over with someone else before going for it; this is your chance.

There is only one rule; you can only call for an 'Act of God' once. And ONLY once. After that, you're on your own; so whatever you have to say, it had better be good.

Question though, say I wanted to make a movie off of an existing universe, but change around some events that actually happened. Would that be ok?</p>

Having spent pretty much the last four years on these forums daily, I don't know why I never ventured out of the TEW sub threads all that much because this looks super cool! I looked at some of the previous iterations of this game, and I'd love to jump in! Hopefully the learning curve isn't too steep...

<p>YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!</p><p> </p><p>

Off of a smashing season in "Movie Tycoon 5," Tompkins Square Studios is proud to return in the game's sixth installment. Furthermore, we are pleased to announce that our first project will, in fact, be the movie planned before the fifth game ended, "Fake News." Given the fact that the bank balance is back down to $10 million, expect updated casting calls to be done as early as this evening.</p><p> </p><p>

I do have one question: Is it possible to mix genres? For instance, I can think of a TON of movies that would fit as "comedy/drama" or "action/adventure." If so, would we get a mishmosh of benefits/drawbacks as outlined in the original post?</p>

<p>OK, this may be a challenge given the low starting budget, but I've wanted to write this movie for months, and I'm stoked to get the chance to do it here.</p><p> </p><p>

MOVIE DETAILS</p><p> </p><p>

Title: "Fake News"</p><p>

Genre: Raunchy comedy</p><p>

Brief Summary Of The Plot: When a top news reporter is fired from her job for refusing to play into her new boss's degrading strategies for getting ratings, she starts her own online network as a parody of the modern media landscape. Initially, her vision earns rave reviews, but soon, her enterprise is dragged down into the muck by various forces, including some outside her control. Can she restore her integrity while also taking down the people who tried to destroy her?</p><p>

Rating: R (language, nudity, sexual situations)</p><p>

Production Cost: TBD</p><p>

Marketing Cost: TBD</p><p> </p><p>

TALENT CASTING</p><p> </p><p>

Director: We're paging longtime friend of the studio <strong>Penny Marshall</strong>, who was awesome for us last time around. However, on the off chance we can't afford her, we're also chatting with <strong>Mark Duplass</strong> (more on him later) and <strong>John Turturro</strong> (him, too).</p><p> </p><p>

Lead Role: Natalie Crosby</p><p> </p><p>

Natalie Crosby is a pioneering female journalist who quickly gained nationwide respect for her take-no-prisoners style of reporting. This isn't easy to do in a male-dominated field, but she's won plenty of awards for her work, and she's long been considered one of the top reporters at the National News Network (or Triple-N). However, she's quickly fired for refusing to partake in segments that portray her as eye candy, and it's that action that motivates her to start her own online media empire that she believes will take Triple-N down by satirizing the network's new approach.</p><p> </p><p>

For this role, we need a distinguished actress with comedy chops, which isn't easy to find. We're approaching <strong>Sarah Michelle Gellar</strong>, <strong>Rashida Jones</strong>, <strong>Eva Mendes</strong>, and <strong>Amy Poehler</strong>.</p><p> </p><p>

Major Role: Tim Hartman</p><p> </p><p>

Tim Hartman is a long-since-retired news anchor who has since crossed over into the PR world, and he doubles as Natalie's best friend. He helps her with the new online network she's starting, which he named Dirty Sexy News (a name Natalie loved). The relationship between he and Natalie has been platonic and non-romantic for many years, but sometimes, due to Tim's recent divorce, the line gets fuzzy.</p><p> </p><p>

We're chatting with <strong>Will Arnett</strong>, <strong>Neil Patrick Harris</strong>, <strong>Jason Bateman</strong>, and <strong>John Krasinski</strong>.</p><p> </p><p>

Major Role: Will O'Meara</p><p> </p><p>

Will O'Meara is the new news director at National News Network, having replaced a man seen by many as a giant in the industry. He was given an order to shake things up, and that's what he does, implementing major changes from the top down that impact everyone at the office. Specifically, he orders female reporters to be used as eye candy to attract a stronger male audience, and tells reporters to avoid chasing stories of news interest in favor of catchier stories that will attract more people. Needless to say, he serves as the movie's main antagonist.</p><p> </p><p>

We're reaching out to <strong>John Turturro</strong>, and would like to know his rate for the individual roles of director and Will O'Meara, as well as what he'd accept to do both. Also, we'd like to hear from <strong>Danny Devito</strong> and <strong>Jason Alexander</strong>.</p><p> </p><p>

Minor Role: Kimberly Riley</p><p> </p><p>

Fresh out of journalism school and desperate for an opportunity, Riley is hired by Natalie to join DSN. Natalie uses her as a parody of what O'Meara wanted his female journalists to be, which is a source of great humor (and spectacular eye candy for our audience) until disaster strikes.</p><p> </p><p>

We're in talks with <strong>Kat Dennings</strong>, <strong>Hayden Panettiere</strong>, <strong>Leighton Meester</strong>, and <strong>Demi Lovato</strong>. Whoever takes this role must be open to partial nudity.</p><p> </p><p>

Minor Role: Joe Kirkland</p><p> </p><p>

Joe Kirkland is a struggling insult comic working bars and clubs in the New York City area. Natalie and Tim discover him about a third of the way through the movie and give him an outlet to be as unfiltered as he wants to be, and his rants are a comedic high point of the film.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mark Duplass</strong> would be a very good fit for this role. Like John Turturro, we'd like to know his rates for the individual roles of director and this one, as well as a rate for doing both. We'd also like to speak with <strong>Charlie Day</strong>, and we're considering <strong>Danny Devito</strong> for this role as well (in addition to Will O'Meara).</p><p> </p><p>

Minor Role: Richard Fox</p><p> </p><p>

Richard Fox is an institution in cable news. He's overseen broadcast teams that have won numerous national awards and earned gigantic ratings, but for many reasons that gain clarity as the film goes on, he's been forced into retirement. He mentored Natalie through the early part of her career, and as such, she goes to him as a resource at several points through the film.</p><p> </p><p>

We're in talks with <strong>Joe Pesci</strong>, <strong>Christopher Lloyd</strong>, <strong>Jeremy Irons</strong>, and <strong>Mark Hamill</strong>.</p><p> </p><p>

Key Cameo: Major Celebrity X</p><p> </p><p>

There is a female celebrity who will make two appearances in the film and play a huge role in the climax of the movie. Said celebrity will play herself.</p><p> </p><p>

We're interested in one of the following: <strong>Kim Kardashian</strong>, <strong>Kylie Jenner</strong>, or <strong>Madonna</strong>.</p>

The Black Lab would like to reach out to author Paul O'Brien and his publishing company about a potentially turning his novel Blood Red Turns Dollar Green into a movie franchise.

We would like to secure the rights for all three books in the series with hopes of making the complete trilogy for the silver screen.

(Forgive a rookie a here if I'm out of turn or doing something out of context/far off from beginning of game budget)

I like all of the new bells and whistles, especially the Rotten Tomatoes-ish minigame. Anything that keeps people involved is a good thing. You could also rename the "no intentionally bad movies" rule the Ed Wood rule!

MOVIE DETAILS

› Title: Herding Cats (working title)

› Genre: Dramedy

› Brief Summary Of The Plot:

Young, rookie teacher Evan Robbins looks to “herd cats” in this touching comedy. Robbins soon finds himself over his head after taking a job teaching English at rural West Highlands Middle School. As if teaching disengaged preteens wasn’t an obstacle enough, Robbins has to learn to navigate the in’s and out’s of the teacher’s room, avoid unpleasant encounters with his principal, and fight a copy machine, all while seeking the affections of special educator and co-worker in an intense rivalry with the “cool” teacher down the hall.

› Rating: PG-13

› Production Cost: TBA

› Marketing Cost: TBA

TALENT CASTING

› Director: negotiations ongoing with Judd Apatow, Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Smith and Max Landis

› Lead Role: Evan Robbins

Fresh out of college, our lead is bright eyed and bushy tailed as he seeks to “make a difference” in his first job in a public middle school in New England. Very academic and overly optimistic, Robbins is awkward yet relatable. Robbins fights through feelings of inadequacies as he makes his way through his first school year as a teacher. Nothing about the job comes easy to Robbins until he learns to be comfortable in his own skin with both his coworkers and the students.

Actors the studio would like to see in this role: Michael Cera, Daniel Radcliffe, Haley Joel Osment, Jesse Eisenberg, Dule Hill

› Major Parts:

Quentin Martin

--Evan’s foil. The coolest teacher in the school who is always put together and often makes Evan feel totally inadequate (in front of students, coworkers, and their mutual love interest).

Actors the studio would like to see in this role: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Reynolds, James Franco, Jude Law, Chris Pratt

Ms. Amy Hanley

--A special education teacher who is assigned to work with Evan. Amy is kind, sweet and attractive (in a girl next door kind of way). Amy recognizes Evan’s good intentions and good nature with students before anyone else and encourages him. Ultimately both Evan and Quentin compete for the Amy’s affections...

Actresses the studio would like to see in this role: Emma Stone, Ellen Page, Alexis Bledel, Alison Brie, Mae Whitman, Sarah Ramos

› Minor Roles:

Henry Graves

--English Dept. chair and Evan’s mentor. Initially comes off as hard and unyielding and yet another obstacle for our rookie teacher to overcome, but quickly recognizes our young protagonists potential and goes to bat for him. Graves goes on to be a great mentor for Evan.

Actors the studio would like to see in this role: Peter Dinklage, Gary Oldman, Donald Sutherland, Richard Dreyfus, JK Simmons

Principal Edwards

-Young Evan finds himself in Principal Edwards office for a variety of reasons in his first year...and none of them are pleasant. Edwards is an intimidating wildcard for young Evan. Edwards is only interested in what the teachers can do to make the school look good publicly is a big fan of Quentin Martin.

Actors the studio would like to see in this role: Peter Dinklage, Gary Oldman, Donald Sutherland, Richard Dreyfus, JK Simmons

Mr. “Big Ed” Campbell

--Disenfranchised veteran teacher who is over the top in his ridiculousness. Mostly serves in a comedic role.

Actors the studio would like to see in this role: Billy Bob Thorton, Bill Murray, Bruce Campbell, Marc Maron

Mrs. Sally Norton

--A fellow English teacher. Known for her strict ways and unkind manner. Her contrast to our protagonist is intended to add humor.

Actresses the studio would like to see in this role: Jane Seymour, Kate Mulgrew

Coach Hanson

--The school gym teacher and total meathead. Hanson can’t believe how hard Robbins works! Again, mostly comic relief.

Actors the studio would like to see in this role: Lou Ferigno, Carl Weathers, R. Lee Ermey

Mrs. Patty

--The teacher’s assistant. Mrs. Patty points out a number of obvious things to Evan. Another part that mostly serves as comedy.

Actresses the studio would like to see in this role: Aloma Wright

Hopefully I'm not over ambitious with my budget at my thoughts on casting/directing, etc. Trying to find my balance here...

Rating: PG-13 (language, violence, partial gore)

TALENT CASTING

Director: As the initial director of The Walking Dead TV Series, we feel that Frank Darabont would be best suited to direct this movie. We would also like to extend the offer to Marc Forster who we here at DS Productions praise for his work on World War Z.

Lead Role: Shane Walsh

An ex cop for King County, Georgia, Shane Walsh was once a man of upstanding morals. He fought for his county and upheld the rules to the utmost degree. After the dead began to rise, his entire outlook on the world changed. Shane grieved over the loss of Rick and took control of a small group right outside the city. After Rick's return, jealousy pushed him further and further away from Lori, his desire. After things came to a heated confrontation, Shane now realizes the man he has become due to his near death experience. He now has a mission, and that is to regroup with the others and make things right.

There is only one man to fill this character's shoes and that is the insanely talented Jon Bernthal. We here at DS Productions commend his work and would be extremely honored to work with him.

Major Role: Morgan Jones

A stranger to Shane, but not for long. A man who came across Rick in the early days of the apocalypse. Now, many months after seperating from Rick, he finds Shane all alone, starving, and decides to take him in. However, when Shane inquires Morgan about his past, it sets him off and leads him on a rampage that he may be too far gone to come back from.

Approach Lennie James. Once again, there is only one man to fit this character's role and it is him. We commend him for his work and would love to work with him.

Major Role: Alicia Berry

A mother who has survived the apocalypse for as long as it has been around because of her sole purpose of looking out for her daughter, Kate. She meets Shane and develops feelings for him, however Shane's thoughts about relations are unclear as he knows that love was the initial start of his downward spiral, however Alicia tries to break down his barriers to find the good inside of him.

Contact Cobie Smulders and Allison Williams.

Minor Role: Kate Berry

The daughter of Alicia. A young, timid girl whos life was ripped away at the hands of the apocalypse. Now, she relies on her mother for protection and is still trying to adjust to the insane world everyone now lives in. She wants to fight and defend herself, but the terrifying truth about everything overcomes her courage.

Contact a handful of caucasian female actresses in the area with previous experience in the horror/suspense genre between the age of 9-12.

Major Cameo: Rick Grimes

Shane's former partner and best friend who has been the target of Shane's redemption mission from the start of the movie. Rick is an intelligent and courageous man who is the leader of a group of several surivors at a prison.

Come on. Nobody but Andrew Lincoln can play Rick Grimes.

Semi/Major Role: Phillip Blake AKA The Governor

A sick and twisted man who is leader of a town called Woodbury. He is at war with Rick's group and will do anything and everything to get the upper hand over his enemies. He has an interesting encounter with Shane that will determine how much of a changed man Shane really is.

Contact David Morrissey. Tell him we are willing to offer him more screen time with the Governor, and this time, he actually gets to be alive.

Minor Role: Officer James Ruben

A fellow King County cop that would work alongside Shane in a flashback scene. He is tough, take no BS type of guy and is a loyal officer to the force.

Contact Matt Cedeno, Tom Everett Scott, and Joseph Gatt (little Z Nation nod. :p)

Celebrity Cameo:

Contact John Cooper from Skillet about being a walker. We promise him he gets to kill one person in the movie.

Also contact Skillet about the soundtrack for the movie. We ask them to lay down their terms for 2 or 3 songs that we would be able to use for the movie, as well as the permission to use "Would It Matter" as we feel that song would fit the movie perfectly. If they agree to let us use the song, we think a few more around the same theme would be perfect. Due to the genre of our film, we are looking for something along the lines of ballads and semi dark with very powerful lyrics, maybe even some screams if it is okay with John. We would love for Jen to sing co-lead on at least one of the songs as well.

Also tell them it would be an absolute honor to work with them, as I, Dave Scott, founder and CEO of DS Productions am a huge fan of their music.
