WMMA5 Small Questions Thread

Recommended Posts

How big should my company be, before I begin running shows in other regions? I have a enough matches with fighters popular in that region to put up a good card, but I have unknown popularity in that region, so I dont know if its worth it to run it there, or stick to my local region?

Stick to your local region until you gain and least high-national of another company's radar

How do they penalize the organizations? For what reason are they dropping like flies? I just added it so I will probably find out but...

Just merely for existing. It adds a tax to their income so they make much less money. I find that's a better way of playing. You can always save them in the editor if you deem it necessary. But otherwise it'll be rare to "buy them out" and integrate them, which is what a lot of players love doing.

Dropping like flies is probably overstating it. But in default database there's definitely several that will die, on the condition the economy isn't doing well.

You see, I had like 10 different saves, one that even went 10 years, and not one org went bankrupt. I literally did not change any of the settings or anything, everything is normal I checked, I even took your suggestion to add the big taxes, still nothing.

And to continue the previous post, which I forgot to mention, I'm curious to experience having a sister company feeding me fighters so I don't always have to dedicate hours in this game. It's nice having to find a high level regional fighter sent to you with a few wins under it's belt. I have just not experienced the joy of that privilege. I think it would make the gameplay a lot more fun.

Firstly, I suggest you make sure you're on the latest patch, as it sounds like you're not. There are easy to follow instructions on how to install it pinned to the top of the technical support forum.

Secondly, you can check a company's financial health by going into Game Options (third item from the bottom in the left hand menu) -> Editor (the sixth option down) and double clicking the company' name. It's extraordinarily unlikely that you'd run 2, let alone 10, long-term games without anyone encountering financial difficulty, so the most likely scenario is that you do have several companies who are heading toward bankruptcy but you haven't run enough years to see that happen. Checking with the editor will allow you to see for yourself how many are in debt. I'd suggest you check the other games, not the one that has gone past the ten year mark.

If you're on the latest patch and genuinely find that you have ten games where you've run more than a few years and every company is profitable then make a post in the technical support forum and I will explain how to proceed to find the cause.

I tried installing it and whatnot but apparently I already had the patch but whenever I log onto WMM5 it says I should download the newest patch. I'm still not quite sure how to assemble it even after reading the step by step. There's a red key on a document that says wmma5md. or something and I don't have a password to access that. As far as folders go I just have a bunch of wmma winrar files and for some reason in the start section of my cpu I can see the wmma5 logo should I paste the .exe to that?

You navigate to the folder where you have WMMA5 installed. This would usually be on your hard drive under Program Files > GDS > WMMA5. If you can't find it, simply use a Windows search for "WMMA5.exe".

Once you've found the right place you will see several files, one of which is called WMMA5.exe and will have the same logo / icon as your shortcut. Replace this with the patch by copying and pasting. When asked if you want to replace it, say Yes. WMMA5 should not be running when you do all of this.

You will know if it has been successful as the game will say 1.16 in the taskbar at the top and you will no longer see the notification that there is a newer patch available.

@ Adam - Would it be acceptable to create a thread devoted to MMA history and news? Some of us who enjoy WMMA5 are new to the world of MMA and might like a place to go to for discussions about the sport, its history, news, etc.

The other day there was an article in my phone's MSN news feed about some surgically-enhanced woman in UFC who is being dropped after a series of losses. And I think the same article [or maybe a different one] said the fellow who runs UFC is going to cut the roster.

It was interesting to me because I didn't realize that things you can do in-game actually happen in real life. I wonder how UFC and its titles can be considered legitimate and worth fighting for when fighters can be dropped seemingly at random. Do UFC fighters make a lot of money? Why risk your health if you aren't making a lot of money?

I understand how boxing works, with all its absurd alphabet sanctioning bodies. But I'm still learning how the world of MMA works. I would like to be educated. Maybe others would, too.

I see UFC fights on TV, but there is also something called Shogun Fights. Is this a big company? How many companies are there? How can each one of them claim to have "world" champions?

If it's not appropriate to create such a thread here, that's ok. Just thought I would ask.

I think here would be the right place for such a thread. To answer some of your questions:

- Prelims and low-main card fighters don't really make a lot of money, since most fighters fight 2-3 times per year and a pretty big chunk of their pay checks goes to taxes and coaches. I'd guess UFC, Bellator, ONE, PFL and maybe RIZIN & KSW + some of the big Russian companies afford big paychecks

- I've never heard of Shogun Fights, and I know a decent amount of companies so I'd guess they are something local or regional.

- There are a TON of companies: personally, I'd rank the top ones like this: 1. UFC (extremely ahead of any competition) 2. Bellator (USA) 3. ONE (Singapore) 4. RIZIN (Japan) 5. KSW (Poland) 6. PFL (USA) 6. Jungle Fights (Brazil). The other big companies usually end up having their best guys poached by the UFC, but some manage to keep their top guys for longer than you'd expect, like Bellator with Douglas Lima & Patricio Pitbull or ONE with Aung La Nsang. Also, some very good UFC fighters sometimes choose to go to other companies, mostly because those companies give them better deals (like Gegard Mousasi & Corey Anderson to Bellator).

- Well, of course every company will act like its champions are the real "world champions", but obviously the UFC has the best roster and deepest roster in pretty much every division.

Hi,

Just curious what determines whether a region runs local shows or not? The reason I ask is I've played a few games where TOP opens in Russia and a whole heap of Russian fighters based in Russia generate, but they all flock to Europe's local shows. No local shows in Russia. Same situation in Mexico when OMEGA open, but no local shows?

Thanks

The default database starts in January 2002. You can edit the database info to change it, but remember to adjust birthdates and debut dates accordingly.</p>

I think I've completely ruined a long term save of mine unless there is a way to get a fighter to take a fight on 6 days notice. I think this is impossible, correct? This has happened in real life. Anyway the game could be patched to allow for this?

Edit their recuperation and preparation stats to 100 then sim 1 day. You may have a shot.
