Rockverse (Release)

Recommended Posts

Yeah I was looking for people to sign and the lack of fitting renders kinda struck me lol. That's when I stumbled upon Eris, and through her read about Loki, Jotun and Troll. Don't think 12 shows is good enough for an invasion angle, Kratos is enough of an "outsider" already for what I have in mind.

I like the BLUD logo, has a very "Brutal Legend" vibe to it. Think I can portray the Europeans better and bringing hardcore across the pond sounds interesting...

I'm going to add some more FA's in Mexico and Canada that fit the "AWO" mold so there will be more workers to choose from later at least. After rendering an entire fed based on Greek Myhthology I needed a break. The best part about the FA's are that they will be experienced wrestlers vs the origninal AWO roster which is compromised of actors who recently turned into wrestlers so they can churn out a decent match. AWO in it's current form uses mainly angles to get good show grades.

BLUD is one of pteroid's ideas, I can't take credit for the awesome name. It's a Swedish black metal deathmatch fed. B/c Swedish black metal + deathmatches = awesomeness.

Rhapsody 1

AWO Myths of Creation 2016

Held in front of 96 people at the Camden Elks Lodge #1451

- Dressed in a practical short toga and carrying her hunting bow, Artemis enters the stage/ring with her two "beasts" in tow. Cyclops looks weird and menacing, whereas Minotaur seems to be struggling a bit to avoid a Shockmaster moment as carrying the Key to the Mortal Realm title messes with his mobility, which was already limited due to all the prosthetics. After a short speech to introduce herself and the monsters, she calls out Hades, to which Minotaur returns the Key to the Mortal Realm. As the announcing duo lets everyone know, this means Minotaur gets to fight Zeus for the Epic Hero title, while at the same time allowing those trapped in the Underworld (like Odysseus) to challenge Hades for it once they've managed to win three matches in a row.

Rating: D

- Picking up from where the announcers left off, Homer himself comes out as a 'narrator' to extrapolate on the ramifications of the opening segment, only for his part to be hijacked by Poseidon. Known for his dry delivery and dissing of everything under the sun, the God of the Sea smashes the fourth wall and everyone's suspension of disbelief for a moment of comedy gold in which he basically brings up AWO's inconsistencies, from the family ties between the Gods to the Minotaur never being in the Iliad or Odyssey.

Rating: E+

- In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Odysseus defeated Kronos in 7:49 by pinfall with a Phalanx-Plex after Penelope interfered to distract the referee so that the crafty Odysseus could deliver the low blow to defeat the.... harvest god? Titan? Basically Hades under another name, but everyone pretends to ignore it.

Rating: E

- Charging across the stage/ring in full armor just as the match is over, Ares, God of War, scoops up Penelope and runs away to the dismay of Odysseus. Meanwhile, the announcing team reminds viewers that it was Ares' interference a few months prior that cost Odysseus his third win in a row and the right to challenge Hades for the Key to the Mortal Realm.

Rating: D-

- The Epic Duo champions Atlas and Prometheus come out to hype the next tag match, saying they are willing to face the winners next month for the titles. Shifting between nervous and trying too hard to be menacing, Atlas accidentally destroys the beach ball 'earth' prop and the segment is wrapped up in a hurry for the match to start.

Rating: F+

- In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, The Conquerors (Agamemnon & Menelaus) defeated Power & Glory (Heracles & Hyperion) in 11:01 when Agamemnon defeated Hyperion by submission with a Trojan Deathlock after blatantly cheating, much like his armies did to take over Troy after a 10 year siege.

Rating: E-

- Lowered to the ring from above, Hermes the Messenger of the Gods is looking for Kratos. The face-painted maniac storms in swinging his weapons, only for a panicked Hermes to say he's here to deliver a message. Ares, God of War, is not happy with the imposter and demands he leaves AWO. After delivering his signature "LIES! I AM KRATOS!" punchline, the recipient proceeds to punch Hermes, who retreats while Kratos gives chase.

Rating: E+

- In a decent match, Zeus defeated Minotaur in 11:22 when Minotaur got disqualified after going into an attacking rage after Zeus revealed that he is, in fact, his father. Zeus makes defence number 2 of his AWO Epic Hero title.

Rating: E+

Given how off the wall their entire concept is, best way I could interpret it is do weird stuff with a straight-faced delivery and treat them "serious" so Kratos fits that plan perfecty!

Rhapsody 2

AWO Trojan War 2016

Held in front of 215 people at the Weston Gymnasium

- Hades kicks off the show by coming out with Minotaur chained in tow and Artemis behind them in order for the monster to be judged by the audience after losing last month's title match, an AWO rule that totally wasn't forgotten about last show, honestly, nope. As are the AWO laws, title matches are contested under Mortal Kombat rules and the loser is presented to the audience, who decides whether they'll be spared or executed by Hades and sent to the Underworld, a concept totally rooted in Ancient Greece that Romans and their gladiators certainly ripped off because the Ancient Greeks invented everything and all that. Anyway, Artemis slyly suggests an alternative: spare the Minotaur until this show's end, where her other beast, Cyclops, will face Zeus for the Epic Hero title. That one brings out the king of the Gods himself, who immediately agrees, vowing to defeat Cyclops and send both beasts to the Underworld. Hades may rule that realm, but up here it's Zeus that calls the shots, so he agrees and everyone returns backstage to make way for the first match of the night.

Rating: D-

- In a bout that didn't have much heat and terrible wrestling, Odysseus defeated Hermes in 6:06 by count out, after Hermes was chased away by a screaming Kratos.

Rating: E-

- With Odysseus left alone in the ring, Ares steps out on stage with Penelope as his prisoner, taunting Odysseus and talking down Kratos as an imposter, proclaiming himself to be the one true God of War.

Rating: E

- Once the stage has been cleared again, Poseidon steps out for his own promo, addressing the fact that "Kratos" is actually the Ancient (and modern) Greek word for "State". I mean, it's a silly name for any man, but it makes AWO's Kratos a dictator or prime minister at best, but no God of War.

Rating: E

- In a bout that didn't have much heat and terrible wrestling, The Conquerors (Agamemnon & Menelaus) defeated Team Titans (Atlas & Prometheus) in 11:29 when Agamemnon defeated Atlas by submission with a Trojan Deathlock after once again blatantly cheating, because of course they had to win their match when the show is called Trojan War. The Conquerors win the AWO Epic Duo titles.

Rating: E

- The twangy nu metal sounds of Kabbage signal the arrival of Hades once again and the losers are put forward for the crowd to judge. Thanks to overwhelming cheers, Team Titans are spared, but they aknowledge this really isn't working so they vow to go their separate ways from now on.

Rating: F+

- In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Zeus defeated Cyclops in 10:57 by pinfall after a wardrobe malfunction with Zeus' underwear blinded Cyclops in his one good eye. Zeus makes defense number 3 of his AWO Epic Hero title.

Rating: E+

- Again, Hades comes out, followed by the captive Minotaur. Artemis and Cyclops join him in the ring and after the fans shower them with boos, Hades "executes" them both to send them to the Underworld. Zeus tries to add insult to injury by flirtatiously taunting the now-single Artemis out of habit, but he suddenly remembers she's actually his daughter and decides against it because that would be weird and there's kids in the audience.

With AWO's product and roster, I go for the bare minimum of 3 (short) matches and one's already Storytelling so having to do Comedy for another can be too restricting. Plus the description makes me think the people there take it seriously in a method acting kind of way. Way I see it, it's about taking a silly concept and treating it seriously, which unto itself is comical.

To be honest almost any wrestling fed that isn't Hardcore or Deathmatch probably should have at least very low comedy. Lets face it most TV dramas would have very low level comedy - a one liner here or there - people make jokes all the time and all jokes have a victim so even in dramas you here jokey lines sometimes (even if it is gallows humour). The Greek myths and legends have there fair share of humour.
