[CVerse] Black Canvas Grappling: Defenders of Puroresu

Recommended Posts

How are you finding the new style, creatively speaking?

It is... extremely condensed, which is why I tried another approach when summing up the Lion's Roar tour. I'm also experimenting with tour reports on my LondonVerse dynasty, inspired by the original ECW stuff that would piece segments together via static, since I'm running a hardcore deathmatch promotion there. Then there's also a TEW13 BCG Dynasty I've been reading up and I like that presentation too, especially the comments/interviews after each show, they feel quite NJPW-esque.

Oh, the NJPW style is very easy to mimic in-game. Book all the shows if you're pushing towards a final show, and then intersperse one minute talk angles where necessary. Only reason they come out after the show is because how fast-paced the live show is, they obviously get taped immediately after the matches.

So you have Opener - Post-Match Comments - Second Match - Post Match Comments - Third Match - Post Match Comments, etc... until you get to the final match where you send the fans home happy. It's basically one minute an angle, and you focus on one guy or two guys from each side who can talk or be menacing or whatever before moving on.

Toshinobu Taku, Eikichi Itou & Shuzo Utagawa vs Yoriie Ippitsusai, Naozano Goto & Kyuichi Matsumoto

Young lions had the chance to show what they can do in the opening multi man match, their pairings led by a veteran to keep the match together. Everyone had a fair share of the spotlight and the bout ended when Toshinobu Taku destroyed Matsumoto with a Gutwrench Tombstone piledriver.

In a poor match, Toshinobu Taku, Eikichi Itou and Shuzo Utagawa defeated Yoriie Ippitsusai, Naozane Goto and Kyuichi Matsumoto in 10:09 when Toshinobu Taku defeated Kyuichi Matsumoto by pinfall with a Gutwrench Tombstone.

Kiyotaka & Gidayu Katou vs Masayuki Shiga & Motoyuki Miyake

Both teams in action next boasted excellent chemistry between them, a discovery made during random pairings while on tour, however Shiga and Miyake were there earlier, meaning they had a slight advantage as far as teaming experience goes. This was apparent in the approach Shiga & Miyake took in this match, keeping the tough but aging veteran in the ring as little as possible. This prevented youngsters Kiyotaka & Katou from exhausting him and it also hid his issues due to physical decline. Instead, Miyake did what he does best, which is come out, hit super hard, pick up a quick win and return backstage.

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Shiga & Miyake defeated Kiyotaka & Katou in 9:39 when Motoyuki Miyake defeated Gidayu Katou by pinfall with a Knock Out Kick.

BCG World Tag Team titles match

Partnership of Pain vs Muscle Blasters

Wrapping up the first series of matches before moving on to singles bouts was the first title match of the night, featuring two more teams put together during tours. Blast Ikoma really shone here, putting up a performance much better than he has so far in any singles matches, but having young lion Serizawa with him meant there was only one way this match could end against the team of big monsters, who were able to keep the gold around their waists. Still, Brody and Matsushita had to work hard for the win, as Muscle Blasters hit hard enough to keep the match on a somewhat equal basis, preventing the Partnership of Pain from making it a purely one-sided deal.

In a decent match, Partnership Of Pain defeated Muscle Blasters in 9:59 when Rokuemon Matsushita defeated MUSCLE Serizawa by pinfall with an One-Handed Choke Slam. Partnership Of Pain make defence number 2 of their BCG World Tag Team titles.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Kalu Owusu vs Quick Kick Nakao

From the matchup to the opening exchange of blows and fan reaction, it was obvious this match was pretty equally spread out. Nakao got fans behind him due to being the only non-gaijin in the match, but as the weakest of three between the ropes, he wasn't quite able to make much out of it. Owusu had some previous exposure in Japan, his stiff and powerful MMA-inspired offense certainly struck a chord but BCG is all about oldschool puro anyway, not to mention Owusu's win-loss record so far. Smith was by far the best performer, a former BCG champion and in comparison, the only "home grown" fighter in the match, yet still Japanese fans were reluctant to get behind the man who's taken the mantle of the promotion's chief gaijin monster heel after the departure of Big Bruiser Findlay. As the match went on though, the action was so good it brushed aside all these issues and the match nearly turned into a show-stealer as the three men traded blows until the big finish of Smith pinning Nakao.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Kalu Owusu and Quick Kick Nakao in 15:44 when Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Quick Kick Nakao by pinfall with a Tombstone Piledriver.

BCG Challengers Series title match

Bunrakuken Torii vs Animal Harker

No doubt who fans wanted to win here as "Machine Gun" Bunrakuken Torii squared off against Animal Harker. A fiery performance from both men, with Torii's rapid-fire chops bringing out an explosive "southern wrasslin" retaliation from Harker that made for a great back and forth, as their styles seem to mesh well, elevating the bout to the next level. Torii had a great comeback moment when he managed to kick out of Harker's finisher and slowly but surely built up his offense to knock down Harker with a Spinning Forearm Smash, only for the American to respond in kind by kicking out of Torii's finisher too. Once Torii connected for the second time though, it was all over.

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Bunrakuken Torii defeated Animal Harker in 15:36 by pinfall with a Spinning Forearm Smash. Bunrakuken Torii wins the BCG Challengers Series title.

BCG World title match

Funakoshi vs Yoshinaka Taku

A main event worthy of BCG's biggest show of the year, Funakoshi and Taku tore down the house in a 30+ minute epic struggle over the ultimate prize, the BCG World title. After breaking out on his own as a singles competitor, Taku went on a series of great matches, leading up to his victory over Nakao to win the BCG Challengers Series title and set up this match, in which he rose to the occasion, delivering a stellar performance at just 25 years of age against the promotion's undisputable ace and perhaps one of the finest young talents of this generation in Funakoshi. Taku may have lost, but he stayed in the fight for over half an hour, pushing Funakoshi to his limits more than anyone else so far has managed to as it took three Butterfly Backbreakers to finally keep the youngster down. A hard fought victory for the champion and one that certainly elevated his own stock and the title's prestige, whereas Taku showed he can hang with the best of them, proving himself a true champion in waiting.

In a bout that had superb wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Funakoshi defeated Yoshinaka Taku in 30:33 by pinfall with a Butterfly Backbreaker. Funakoshi makes defence number 4 of his BCG World title.

Comments: That pre-show speech had everyone fired up to do their best and it showed, especially in the performances of those involved in the last three matches. A minor upgrade to our Music department didn't hurt either and the show was a big success all over. Another break is upon us and the season practically begins anew next, so it's time to converse with Maeda and make our plans for the new athletic year...

<strong>Yoshifusa Maeda:</strong> Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Press Conference for the next tour of Black Canvas Grappling, starting this December and leading to our annual TagMania tournament in February. Before we make some announcements regarding that, I'd like to introduce our newest signings for this tour. First, a 12 year veteran known for his athletic ability and incredible stamina, he is a former WLW Street Fighting champion, please welcome "100% Machine" Yuki Horigoshi!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Vi9pn5n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Vi9pn5n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Yuki Horigoshi:</strong> Thank you Mr. Maeda-sama, thank you everyone. It is an honor to be employed by such legends and to be wrestling against such talented opponents. I will do my best to be proven worthy of the opportunity I was given.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="sFlfWPy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sFlfWPy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Kazu Yoshizawa:</strong> Our second signing, with also 12 years of experience as a professional wrestler, one of the finest independent talents in Canada and the United States, Black Canvas Grappling is happy to introduce to you Conner Threepwood!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="VfnB77X.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VfnB77X.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Conner Threepwood:</strong> Thanks. This is my first time wrestling in Japan and I'm excited as I'm motivated to show everyone what I can do. The rest of my talking I'll do between the ropes.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Yoshifusa Maeda:</strong> With that over, I am glad to make this tour's big announcement. We will be splitting up the roster into three teams for this tour and to do so, we shall hold a draft right now. The three teams will be led by the three title holders who will take turns to make their picks. Of course, the BCG World Tag Team champions will be skipping the first round in order to make sure every team has the same number of members. Once the teams are sorted out, things will play out much like the Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix, with victories earning 2 points for the winner's team and draws giving each team 1 point. This of course means that people who belong to the same team will not be facing each other until after February's TagMania show, so the draft is not only about choosing teammates, but also about avoiding unfavorable opponents for the next three months.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Kazu Yoshizawa:</strong> Before each monthly show, the leader of the team with the most points will be rewarded with the prize for every round of this competition, a chance for him or any member of his team to wrestle any current champion of his choosing in the upcoming show. Doing so resets every team's scores and the race begins anew for the next month. Now, for his first pick, let's hear from the BCG World champion.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#1 draft pick for Funakoshi is....</p><p>

<img alt="7VXjYUs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7VXjYUs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Masayuki Shiga!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> An interesting first pick for the BCG World champion, showing respect to tradition and his elders. Masayuki Shiga may be the oldest active member of the roster at age 52, but the sheer fact of having stayed in competition up to this age is a testament to his toughness and this veteran's experience will definitely prove useful for the entire team.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#1 draft pick for Bunrakuken Torii is....</p><p>

<img alt="xH5san9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xH5san9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Blast Ikoma!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Torii making the best of his first pick to strengthen his team, Blast Ikoma is one of BCG's top competitors not holding a title this moment and not only has Torii taken him on his side, he's also eliminated him from being a potential opponent for the next three months.</p><p> </p><p>

BCG World Tag Team champions Powers of Pain skip their turn, as their team already includes Rokuemon Matsushita and Giant Brody</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#2 draft pick for Funakoshi is....</p><p>

<img alt="Sabbj9c.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Sabbj9c.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Yoshinaka Taku!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Funakoshi responding to Torii's move by drafting Taku Jr. to his team. Yoshinaka certainly earned the champion's respect during their face-off at the main event of BCG The Lion's Roar and much like Torii, he's not only strengthening his team, but also making sure he won't be facing him until the end of the TagMania tournament in February.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#2 draft pick for Bunrakuken Torii is....</p><p>

<img alt="P2JXnpv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P2JXnpv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

MUSCLE Serizawa!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Torii investing in a young lion already, but it's not only Serizawa's impressively muscular frame and power he's after. Serizawa and Ikoma have been teaming as Muscle Blasters and apparently Torii just secured himself a pair of contenders for next year's TagMania tournament.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#2 draft pick for Powers of Pain is....</p><p>

<img alt="POBEZKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/POBEZKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Bulldozer Brandon Smith!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> The BCG World Tag Team champions made a smart move recruiting Smith, this keeps them up to par with the competition while also making them the biggest and heaviest stable so far, a frightening prospect for anyone facing them in multi man matches especially.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#3 draft pick for Funakoshi is....</p><p>

<img alt="pzwPD24.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pzwPD24.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Toshinobu Taku!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Funakoshi now has Team Taku, father and son, on his side. This means all three groups now have an established tag team on their ranks, they're all planning long term and looking towards TagMania.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#3 draft pick for Bunrakuken Torii is....</p><p>

<img alt="32BXfva.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/32BXfva.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Kiyotaka!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> An interesting choice for the holder of the BCG Challengers Series title, Kiyotaka only recently outgrew his status as a young lion and apparently he's already caught the attention of the people at the top.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#3 draft pick for Powers of Pain is....</p><p>

<img alt="CuHyCWZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CuHyCWZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Naozane Goto!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> The four biggest men in BCG are now part of the same group! It's clear the reigning BCG World Tag Team champions value power over versatility!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#4 draft pick for Funakoshi is....</p><p>

<img alt="S5oggAX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/S5oggAX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Motoyuki Miyake!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> After Team Taku, now Shiga & Miyake are also part of the BCG World champion's group, doubling his odds at TagMania. Miyake has proven himself a bright prospect and rubbing shoulders with such a star-studded group will only make him better.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#4 draft pick for Bunrakuken Torii is....</p><p>

<img alt="MkIWjY4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MkIWjY4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Gidayu Katou!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Torii responds in kind, bringing Kiyiotaka & Katou over for his team next to Muscle Blasters! Twice the odds at TagMania!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#4 draft pick for Powers of Pain is....</p><p>

<img alt="3rJ5hD0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3rJ5hD0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Animal Harker!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> And so does the third group, now reuniting American Demolition Mk.II alongside the championship duo.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#5 draft pick for Funakoshi is....</p><p>

<img alt="IV914xI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IV914xI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Yoriie Ippitsusai!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Again, Funakoshi showing respect for tradition and his elders. Ippitsusai's abilities have been questioned due to age, especially after his loss to Kiyotaka, but the BCG World champion seemingly made the honorable choice over the practical one.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#5 draft pick for Bunrakuken Torii is....</p><p>

<img alt="Vi9pn5n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Vi9pn5n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Yuki Horigoshi!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Another risky pick there, Horigoshi may be more seasoned than most of the other available choices, but he remains an unknown quantity as he has yet to wrestle for BCG.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#5 draft pick for Powers of Pain is....</p><p>

<img alt="dQi7xWJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dQi7xWJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Eikichi Itou!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> A tactical pick there, Itou is one of the strongest young lions available at this point and the group has proven their love for power, but I can't help but think this was mostly done to deny other groups from having him, since Conner Threepwood probably won't be hotly contested over from the other two gaijin-free groups, meaning he can be safely expected to be available for next round.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#6 draft pick for Funakoshi is....</p><p>

<img alt="dlVXejX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dlVXejX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Shuzo Utagawa!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Utagawa's slow and methodical grappling style is a perfect fit for the old school approach Funakoshi's group seems to have, he'll fit right in there but can he perform up to par with his teammates or will he be the one to cost them precious points?</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#6 draft pick for Bunrakuken Torii is....</p><p>

<img alt="oLfE0Uv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oLfE0Uv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Kyuichi Matsumoto!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Goemon Inoue (commentary): Like we said earlier, Conner Threepwood was indeed bypassed by Funakoshi and Torii, leaving the latter with Matsumoto as his final pick</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>#6 draft pick for Powers of Pain is....</p><p>

<img alt="VfnB77X.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VfnB77X.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Conner Threepwood!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue (commentary):</strong> Indeed, Threepwood was left free to join the rest of the gaijin.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8jfbhLn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8jfbhLn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="7VXjYUs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7VXjYUs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Sabbj9c.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Sabbj9c.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="pzwPD24.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pzwPD24.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="S5oggAX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/S5oggAX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="IV914xI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IV914xI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="dlVXejX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dlVXejX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Funakoshi:</strong> These Seven Samurai you see in front of you stand for everything Black Canvas Grappling represents; Honor, tradition, resilience and an unbreakable warrior spirit. We are men of action, not words. Our matches will do the rest of the talking. Thank you.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="D4Mz47n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D4Mz47n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="xH5san9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xH5san9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="P2JXnpv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P2JXnpv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="32BXfva.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/32BXfva.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="MkIWjY4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MkIWjY4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Vi9pn5n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Vi9pn5n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="oLfE0Uv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oLfE0Uv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Bunrakuken Torii:</strong> This is it? Seriously? A bunch of old bodies and even older minds on one side, then a bunch of big bad beefy gaijin and friends on the other. No one here seems willing to face the truth and provide this company with a vision for the future. No one but me and my fellow teammates, that is. You all stick to the old ways, fearful of change, as if the only alternative way towards the future is the Modern Japan way. Well I have news for you, we're here to drag this promotion to the future, kicking and screaming if we must!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vkE7DNZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vkE7DNZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XebEMH0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XebEMH0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="POBEZKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/POBEZKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="CuHyCWZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CuHyCWZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="3rJ5hD0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3rJ5hD0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="dQi7xWJ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dQi7xWJ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="VfnB77X.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VfnB77X.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith:</strong> I don't need to brag about our group, one look at us tells you all you need to know. These three months lead up to TagMania and we already got the tag champs on our side, plus myself who won the damn thing last time round, so this tells me odds are in our favor.</p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> Welcome to tonight's post-show report for BCG's Generations tour. My name is Goemon Inoue, lead announcer and your host for tonight.</p><p> </p><p>

In the opening bout, Conner Threepwood made his BCG debut teaming with Animal Harker as the gaijin duo took on the master/apprentice pairing of Masayuki Shiga and Motoyuki Miyake. The newcomer had plenty of chances to showcase his skill, but he, along with everyone else, got outmatched in terms of performance by the blistering Miyake, who seems hellbent on justifying the buzz around his name as BCG's hottest young lion prospect. Miyake's stiff kicks and Threepwood's uncomfort in a Japanese environment were the main factors to decide this match, eventually creating the opening for veteran Shiga to end it with a win for his team.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Shiga & Miyake defeated Animal Harker and Conner Threepwood in 5:39 when Masayuki Shiga defeated Conner Threepwood by pinfall with a Deadlift German Suplex.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, we caught up with Connor Threepwood.</p><p>

<strong>Threepwood:</strong> "I still haven't fully gotten over the jet lag and it didn't help with adapting to a new audience and style. Despite the outcome, fans saw what I'm all about and once I'm in the zone again, things are bound to change in my favor."</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> After the exciting start, it was time for the young lions to hit the ring as Eikichi Itou wrestled "Private First Class" Kyuichi Matsumoto. Both rookies' development was showcased in this match, but it was Itou's power that allowed him to take control of the match in the ending sequence and hit the Itou Bomb for the pin.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Eikichi Itou defeated Kyuichi Matsumoto in 9:44 by pinfall with an Itou Bomb.</strong></p><p><strong>

rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

In the main event, BCG Challengers Series title holder Bunrakuken Torii defended the belt in a triple threat match against representatives from both other factions in Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Yoshinaka Taku. A well paced and extremely competitive match, this one saw Smith use his size to gain control after the opening bell until the other two men worked together to eliminate him before trading blows between them. Torii dared young Taku to hit him with his best chops before answering with some trademark machinegun chops of his own. The pin was broken by a recovered Smith who switched to a more well-balanced wrestling style to battle his opponents and after a lot of back and forth between all three men, Torii hit Taku with his Spinning Forearm Smash finisher while Smith was laid out at ringside, a situation that allowed the champion to score the pin without distractions and retain his title.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Bunrakuken Torii defeated Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Yoshinaka Taku in 24:26 when Bunrakuken Torii defeated Yoshinaka Taku by pinfall with a Spinning Forearm Smash. Bunrakuken Torii makes defence number 1 of his BCG Challengers Series title.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">B-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, I was able to get a statement from the holder of the BCG Challengers Series title.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="D4Mz47n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D4Mz47n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Torii:</strong> "Unlike those that came before me, I have decided to not take advantage of the new ruling regarding my title. I shall hold and defend it until the time is right to cash in the shot at the BCG World title it guarantees me. Tonight I beat the best each of the other two factions had to offer besides the champions themselves. I will continue to do so until it is time to vacate the title and finally reclaim my BCG World title from Funakoshi."</p><p> </p><p>

So after the first night of the tour, each faction stands at two points.</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 2</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 2</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 2</p>

Goemon Inoue:</strong> Welcome back to the post-show report for BCG's Generations tour. I am Goemon Inoue, lead announcer for BCG and your host for tonight, so without further ado, let's get to the show analysis.</p><p> </p><p>

In the opener, the energetic team of young hopefuls Blast Ikoma and MUSCLE Serizawa bravely took on the reigning BCG World Tag Team champions, the Partnership of Pain. Making the best of their sudden bursts of speed, the team known as Muscle Blasters kept their sluggish opponents on the edge, but all Giant Brody needed was a rookie mistake from Serizawa to turn things round with a Single Handed Choke slam. Although they were prevented from dominating the match and bullying their opponents around, Partnership of Pain still got the win here along with two more points for their alliance.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Partnership Of Pain defeated Muscle Blasters in 10:11 when Giant Brody defeated MUSCLE Serizawa by pinfall with a Single Handed Choke Slam.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

This is what the BCG World Tag Team champions had to say after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vkE7DNZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vkE7DNZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XebEMH0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XebEMH0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Matsushita:</strong> Young lion Serizawa was put in his place tonight. Puroresu-gun are bold, but bringing a rookie in a match against the BCG World Tag Team champions is just suicidal.</p><p>

<strong>Brody:</strong> Get used to this, because this is what's going to happen all the way up to the TagMania tournament!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> Reigning BCG World champion Funakoshi was set for action up next, teaming with the veteran Yoriie Ippitsusai against the pairing of Kiyotaka and Gidayuou Katou who are still finding their way together as a team. In a surprisingly even match, Kiyotaka and Katou showed great teamwork to fend off Funakoshi's onslaught until Ippitsusai got the tag. The man who Kiyotaka beat to signal the end of his trial as a young lion was more than happy to trade blows with his recent rival but emotion made him careless and allowed Kiyotaka to ensnare him and earn another victory over him.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Kiyotaka & Katou defeated Funakoshi and Yoriie Ippitsusai in 11:31 when Kiyotaka defeated Yoriie Ippitsusai by submission with a Kimura.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

This is what the BCG World champion had to say after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8jfbhLn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8jfbhLn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Funakoshi:</strong> I have the utmost respect for Yoriie Ippitsusai. I do not blame him for the loss and I understand his rivalry with Funakoshi. He hasn't let me down, on the contrary, I feel like I should have tried harder myself to help a veteran like him.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> In the main event, Team Taku and American Demolition Mk.II met in a rematch of their post-TagMania bout, the one that caused Team Taku to lose the titles to the gaijin pairing. Now more experienced wrestling together as a team, American Demolition Mk.II paced themselves well and smartly targeted the veteran Toshinobu Taku. Stepping up in defense of his father, Yoshinaka Taku took the fight to his opponents though and as time went on, the match got more and more exciting. The turning point however was when Taku Sr. seemed to take a nasty elbow to the face that blinded him on one eye, allowing Bulldozer Brandon Smith to press his advantage and hit his finisher for the win.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, American Demolition Mk.II defeated Team Taku in 16:43 when Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Toshinobu Taku by pinfall with a Tombstone Piledriver.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

I managed to get a few comments from the winners after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="POBEZKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/POBEZKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="3rJ5hD0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3rJ5hD0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith:</strong> You think they call me "Bulldozer" because it's catchy? No, they call me that because I bulldoze past the competition, which is exactly what I did tonight! Team Taku, we beat you for the titles early this year and we did so again to prove it wasn't a fluke!</p><p>

<strong>Animal Harker:</strong> American Demolition won this year's TagMania tournament and it will do so again in 2017! We're gonna get those titles around our waists once more and we'll do just that, step by step, match by match!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> So after the draw that was the first show, Seven Samurai now fall behind in points.</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 4</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 4</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 2</p>

Goemon Inoue:</strong> My name is Goemon Inoue and this is the post-match report for BCG Generations tour. Here is a summary of everything that happened tonight.</p><p> </p><p>

Representing Puroresu-gun, the newly formed team of Kiyotaka and Gidayu Katou wrestled against the more experienced pairing of Masayuki Shiga and Motoyuki Miyake of the Seven Samurai. Once again, Kiyotaka had a chance to showcase his improvement ever since shedding his young lion skin, but his performance alone wasn't enough to protect his partner from falling to Miyake's Knock Out Kick. Caught between so many energetic youngsters, Masayuki Shiga had trouble keeping up with the pace so he wisely used his experience to slow down the match when in it, but it's more than obvious that the veteran is getting closer and closer to retirement from in-ring action.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Masayuki higa & Motoyuki Miyake defeated Kiyotaka & Gidayu Katou in 6:26 when Motoyuki Miyake defeated Gidayu Katou by pinfall with a Knock Out Kick.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

I caught up with the winners right after the match and here is their statement:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="7VXjYUs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7VXjYUs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="S5oggAX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/S5oggAX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Shiga:</strong> I am proud of young Miyake as I am proud of all the young wrestlers in Black Canvas Grappling. Whether I'm fighting on their side or against them, it makes me feel like this promotion will continue to grow and improve after I'm no longer fighting for it.</p><p>

<strong>Miyake:</strong> It is an honour to be praised by one such as Shiga-sama. I am happy to have won tonight and I hope I continue to make him feel proud of me.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> Newcomer Yuki Horigoshi had a chance to showcase what he's all about next in a singles match against Eikichi Itou. The Young Lion had a lot of fighting spirit to show for himself, but once he was hit with the Yuki Rush Lariat it was good night for him.</p><p>

<strong>In a terrible match, Yuki Horigoshi defeated Eikichi Itou in 10:57 by pinfall with a Yuki Rush Lariat.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

After his first victory with BCG, this is what Horihoshi had to say:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Vi9pn5n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Vi9pn5n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Horigoshi:</strong> They don't call me "100% Machine" for nothing and tonight I proved just that. BCG was wise to bring me on board and Bunrakuken Torii even wiser to choose me for Puroresu-gun.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> In the main event, the leader of Puroresu-gun defended his title against Yoshinaka Taku of Seven Samurai. It was a long and extremely competitive match that went well past the twenty minute mark, with both wrestlers tenaciously hanging on to stay in the fight. Bunrakuken Torii was able to win it with the Spinning Forearm Smash but he had to push through the pain of an apparent injury in his abdomen.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Bunrakuken Torii defeated Yoshinaka Taku in 23:53 by pinfall with a Spinning Forearm Smash. Bunrakuken Torii makes defence number 2 of his BCG Challengers Series title. </strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Still the BCG Challengers Series title holder, Bunrakuken Torii said this once his match was over:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="D4Mz47n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D4Mz47n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Torii:</strong> I set out to bring prestige to this title and matches like the one I had tonight do just that. Instead of exchanging it for a title shot, I intend to hold and defend it so it will actually mean something. Black Canvas Grappling will, one way or another, reform to fit my vision of what puroresu in 2016 should be.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> So after tonight's show, this is where each group stands:</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 8</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 4</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 4</p>

Goemon Inoue:</strong> Week two of Black Canvas Grappling's Generations tour is underway, welcome to the post-show match with my, Goemon Inoue.</p><p> </p><p>

In the opening match, the massive Naozane Goto made the most of his sumo background to overpower his way to victory. Serizawa is known for the strength he packs in his frame, but the combination of mass and power in Goto was just too much for him to handle.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Naozane Goto defeated MUSCLE Serizawa in 6:01 by pinfall with a Goto Slam.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Goto had no statement to make after his match and I myself barely escaped unharmed after he shoved me out of his way to the locker room.</p><p> </p><p>

Kiyotaka & Katou were up next, facing the team of Itou & Threepwood in what was probably a hidden gem of a match. Extremely competitive and featuring some very good wrestling, the fight went back and forth as both teams paced themselves well and used well timed tags to keep their fresh member in. Once again showing his improvement by leaps and bounds, Kiyotaka shone in this match, largely aided by the apparent chemistry with his partner, though it was Katou that also cost him the match when he was forced to tap out.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Conner Threepwood and Eikichi Itou defeated Kiyotaka & Katou in 9:35 when Conner Threepwood defeated Gidayu Katou by submission with a Stretch Plum.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Kiyotaka had some interesting comments to make on his team's loss once they were backstage: </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="32BXfva.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/32BXfva.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="MkIWjY4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MkIWjY4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Kiyotaka:</strong> I am not mad at my teammate. We did our best, both of us, and I know the experience will only motivate him to get better.</p><p>

<strong>Gidayu Katou:</strong> We lost the match and two points tonight, but Puroresu-gun are destined to win the war. I am a soldier and when the time comes, I want to be ready.</p><p> </p><p>

Yoriie Ippitsusai has been the target of much criticism due to his age and decline, especially after losses to Kiyotaka, but he had a chance to prove he's still got what it takes when he and Utagawa went up against Horigoshi and Matsumoto. Clearly the better wrestlers, the veteran and youngster were able to limit Horigoshi's involvement and focus their offense on young Matsumoto, who Ippitsusai eventually took down with a Yakuza Kick.</p><p>

<strong>In a terrible match, Yoriie Ippitsusai and Shuzo Utagawa defeated Yuki Horigoshi and Kyuichi Matsumoto in 7:51 when Yoriie Ippitsusai defeated Kyuichi Matsumoto by pinfall with a Yakuza Kick.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

I was able to get a few comments after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="IV914xI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IV914xI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="dlVXejX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dlVXejX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Ippitsusai:</strong> I am very happy with our win tonight. It was a tactical victory, one we had to use our brains as much as our bodies to achieve.</p><p>

<strong>Utagawa:</strong> Just being one of the Seven Samurai is extremely honorable and exciting and I do my best to prove that I'm worth it. We were victorious tonight and I have the utmost respect for Ippitsusai-sama.</p><p> </p><p>

The main event featured an interesting pairing of Funakoshi and Yoshinaka Taku, since his father Toshinobu was unavailable due to a minor injury. Likewise, they only faced one half of the reigning BCG World Tag Team champions in Rokuemon Matsushita, who was paired with the intimidating Bulldozer Brandon Smith. It was fighting spirit versus raw power in an exciting match and for all of the skill between Funakoshi and Taku, their respectful rivalry eventually got the best of them as they sought to outperform each other at the expense of chasing a pinfall or submission. Smith smartly capitalized on the apparent discord and after hitting the Backdrop Driver twice on Taku, secured the big win and two points for his Coast to Coast group.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Rokuemon Matsushita defeated Funakoshi and Yoshinaka Taku in 13:24 when Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Yoshinaka Taku by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

He also had some strong words after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="POBEZKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/POBEZKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Smith:</strong> I was hoping to pin Funakoshi tonight and earn a shot at the BCG World title, but I took what I could get and we're still the winners. Sooner or later, I will be fighting for that title again, mark my words.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Goemon Inoue:</strong> With four matches on the card tonight, this is how each group's score is now</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 10</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 8</p><p>

Goemon Inoue:</strong> Welcome to the post-show match of another BCG Generations tour show with me, lead announcer for Black Canvas Grappling, Goemon Inoue.</p><p> </p><p>

A three on three matchup opened the show as three of Coast to Coast's bigger men steamrolled through the junior division of Puroresu-gun. Despite Kiyotaka's stellar performace and the heart his young lion teammates put up on display, their massive opponents had a relatively easy night, wrapping the match up with a victory in just under eight minutes.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Giant Brody, Conner Threepwood and Naozane Goto defeated MUSCLE Serizawa and Kiyotaka & Katou in 7:42 when Conner Threepwood defeated MUSCLE Serizawa by submission with a Stretch Plum.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

This is what the man who got the tap out win for his team had to say once the match was over:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="VfnB77X.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VfnB77X.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Threepwood:</strong> "I said things would change in my favor and this is exactly what happened here tonight. I'm getting more comfortable as time goes by and you can only expect me to wrestle better and better with each match."</p><p> </p><p>

Next up, the veteran-rookie pairing of Masayuki Shiga and Motoyuki Miyake got in the ring to wrestle against BCG Challengers Series champion Bunrakuken Torii and his newest recruit in Yuki Horigoshi. Torii kicked off the match with a salvo of his trademark machine gun chops, but the experienced Shiga targeted his injured abdominal area to sideline him. Horigoshi was left to pick up the slack and he kept the pace of the match fast, smartly exhausting Shiga who had to tag Miyake in. "BCG's hottest rookie" had a chance to show how he earned that nickname, but he ultimately fell to a Yuki Rush Lariat, handing the win and two points to Puroresu-gun.</p><p>

<strong>In a poor match, Bunrakuken Torii and Yuki Horigoshi defeated Shiga & Miyake in 8:04 when Yuki Horigoshi defeated Motoyuki Miyake by pinfall with a Yuki Rush Lariat.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Neither of the four participants had anything to say once they returned backstage, instead they headed to the locker room in order to recover.</p><p> </p><p>

In the main event, Blast Ikoma and Animal Harker met for the first time in a singles matchup, delivering a bout worthy of its spot. Harker's Western style brawling proved quite unorthodox for Ikoma who had trouble dealing with it, but a combination of desire and explosive comebacks kept him in the match for over twenty minutes as things went back and forth in a hotly contested match where momentum kept changing again and again. In a dramatic final sequence of counters and near falls, Ikoma was the one who came out on top when he managed to keep his opponent down for the count after hitting him with his finisher.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Blast Ikoma defeated Animal Harker in 21:31 by pinfall with a Northern Lights Bomb.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

I caught up with the night's big winner after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xH5san9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xH5san9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Ikoma:</strong> "My teaming with Serizawa-san has been so successful, people almost forgot I can also wrestle and win singles matches. Puroresu-gun is here to break these molds and show fans that wrestlers won't be pidgeonholed into old school archetypes."</p><p> </p><p>

This is how the rankings stand, updated after the show results:</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 12</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 12</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 6</p>

Goemon Inoue:</strong> Welcome back to the post-show recap, we are in Fukuoka today and what a show it has been.</p><p> </p><p>

Masayuki Shiga and Motoyuki Miyake opened the show to pick two valuable points for the Seven Samurai, after defeating the hotshot pair of Kiyotaka and Gidayu Katou in a short but hotly contested bout. </p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Shiga & Miyake defeated Kiyotaka & Katou in 9:36 when Motoyuki Miyake defeated Gidayu Katou by pinfall with a Knock Out Kick.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Masayuki Shiga had nothing to say after the match, instead he chose to let the younger generation in Miyake speak up. This is what the young wrestler had to say:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="S5oggAX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/S5oggAX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Miyake:</strong> "I am very excited to have scored the pin and secured victory. Every match next to Shiga-sama is a great honor and a learning experience."</p><p> </p><p>

Next up was a star-studded matchup as the BCG World Tag Team champions took on the BCG World champion and Yoriie Ippitsusai. Funakoshi put up a hellacious battle, but his teammate proved to be the weakest link and fell to Brody's finisher, with Powers of Pain having little trouble to dominate the match once they were able to combine their efforts against the veteran.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Partnership Of Pain defeated Funakoshi and Yoriie Ippitsusai in 8:19 when Giant Brody defeated Yoriie Ippitsusai by pinfall with a Single Handed Choke Slam.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Here's the statement they made once they returned backstage:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vkE7DNZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vkE7DNZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XebEMH0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XebEMH0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Matsushita:</strong> "Tag team wrestling takes more than combining two individually skilled wrestlers. Funakoshi is the BCG World champion, but there's no one he could team up with and hope to defeat us."</p><p>

<strong>Brody:</strong> "Oh y'all thought we'd do the honourable thing and fight the champion? Maybe try and pin him for a title shot? We already got championship gold and with tonight's two points, we'll take the lead in the race so that Coast to Coast can win even more gold!"</p><p> </p><p>

In the main event, young Yoshinaka Taku went toe to toe with the big man Bulldozer Brandon Smith. The two of them have only wrestled each other one on one in a single match before and the outcome wasn't different this time either, with Smith getting a win he had to work really hard for. More than once did Taku look like he was about to win it, but Smith just wouldn't stay down. Likewise, Taku stayed in the fight for a good twenty minutes, before Smith hit him with the Backdrop Driver to end the match.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Yoshinaka Taku in 20:46 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Exhausted, Smith had this to say once the match was over:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="POBEZKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/POBEZKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Smith:</strong> "Toshi Taku may not be a young lion, but he's a youngster nonetheless and he has a long way to go before he can beat the likes of me."</p><p> </p><p>

So here's how the scores shape up after tonight's show:</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 14</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 12</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 8</p>

Kiyotaka & Katou pulled off a spectacular underdog win in the opening match, making the best of their skills and teaming experience against the larger and stronger pairing of Naozane Goto and Eikichi Itou.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Kiyotaka & Katou defeated Naozane Goto and Eikichi Itou in 6:21 when Gidayu Katou defeated Eikichi Itou by pinfall with a Lariat.</strong></p><p><strong>

Clearly excited, the winners had this to say after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="32BXfva.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/32BXfva.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="MkIWjY4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MkIWjY4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Kiyotaka:</strong> "Goto and Itou underestimated us and that's what cost them the match. Size and strength alone are not guaranteed to bring them victories."</p><p>

<strong>Katou:</strong> "Any win we can get, any points for the group, I'll gladly take. Our team has a bright future ahead and you're only beginning to see the first glimpses of it."</p><p> </p><p>

Muscle Blasters were set to face the gaijin duo of Animal Harker and Conner Threepwood in the next match, with the newcomer from Canada forcing Serizawa to tap out after a dramatic back and forth exchange between both teams. Neither Ikoma's skills nor that team's chemistry and experience were enough to win the day for them, as young lion Serizawa found out in the end.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Conner Threepwood and Animal Harker defeated Muscle Blasters in 9:52 when Conner Threepwood defeated MUSCLE Serizawa by submission with a Stretch Plum.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

I was able to get a statement from the winners right after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="3rJ5hD0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3rJ5hD0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="VfnB77X.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VfnB77X.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Harker:</strong> "It doesn't matter if I team up with Brandon, Conner or anyone else, a win's a win. You gotta be flexible and unpredictable."</p><p>

<strong>Threepwood:</strong> "I'm very happy with the momentum I've been building up for myself with each win, Muscle Blasters were simply the next in line and soon enough I'll be in the Challengers Series title picture, just you wait."</p><p> </p><p>

A big tag matchup for the main event, as Bunrakuken Torii and Yuki Horisoshi of Puroresu-gun took on former tag champions Team Taku and a pretty dramatic one that pushed well past the 20 minute mark. Both Torii and Toshi Taku have been nursing niggling injuries and this prevented them from putting on top notch performances, which in turn provided an excellent chance for Yoshi Taku to steal the show with his own performance. Still, it was not enough and after taking a Yuki Rush Lariat for the second time, Yoshi Taku succumbed, handing two more points to Puroresu-gun.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Bunrakuken Torii and Yuki Horigoshi defeated Team Taku in 22:32 when Yuki Horigoshi defeated Toshinobu Taku by pinfall with a Yuki Rush Lariat.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Here's some footage of what the winners had to say:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="D4Mz47n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D4Mz47n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Vi9pn5n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Vi9pn5n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Torii:</strong> "There's a reason this man is nicknamed '100% Machine' and a reason I picked him for Puroresu-gun."</p><p>

<strong>Horigoshi:</strong> "I am happy to live up to our leader's expectations and add two more points to our total."</p><p> </p><p>

Speaking of points, this is how the standings have changed after the show:</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 16</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 16</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 8</p>

Goemon Inoue: </strong>Hello and welcome to another post-show analysis with me, Goemon Inoue, lead announcer for Black Canvas Grappling.</p><p> </p><p>

The show opened with the master-apprentice pairing of Masayuki Shiga and Motoyuki Miyake scoring a victory over first time partners Yuki Horigoshi and Kyuichi Matsumoto of Puroresu-gun. Despite his almost 60 years of age, Shiga showed remarkable resilience leading himself and his young prospect teammate to a win and two much needed points for their Seven Samurai group.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Shiga & Miyake defeated Yuki Horigoshi and Kyuichi Matsumoto in 9:56 when Motoyuki Miyake defeated Kyuichi Matsumoto by pinfall with a Knock Out Kick.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

I was able to get a statement from the winners when they returned backstage after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="7VXjYUs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7VXjYUs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="S5oggAX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/S5oggAX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Shiga:</strong> "Miyake-san is a young man with a very bright future ahead of him. I am happy to work with him for the rest of my competitive days before it's time to retire and leave him to spread his wings."</p><p>

<strong>Miyake:</strong> "TagMania is still a few months away, but I can't help thinking about it. I think our team has a good chance of doing well in the tournament and maybe even win it, I have much faith in me and Shiga-sama."</p><p> </p><p>

Kiyotaka & Katou ran into a brick wall in the form of BCG World Tag Team champions, Partnership of Pain. Despite staying in the match for a good ten minutes, "Double K" were able to showcase very little offense to simply delay the inevitable, until Giant Brody finally ended things with a chokeslam on the young lion.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Partnership Of Pain defeated Kiyotaka & Katou in 9:51 when Giant Brody defeated Gidayu Katou by pinfall with a Single Handed Choke Slam.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

The champions looked to be in a joyful mood as they made their way backstage, as is apparent in their statements:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vkE7DNZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vkE7DNZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XebEMH0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XebEMH0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Matsushita:</strong> "There is no denying it, the Partnership of Pain is unstoppable. There is no team in BCG that can even hope to stand up to us inside the ring."</p><p>

<strong>Brody:</strong> "It's a shame we can't enter the TagMania tournament really, because we'd win that hands down and then the tag titles next!"</p><p> </p><p>

In the main event, BCG World champion and Seven Samurai leader Funakoshi teamed up with the veteran Yoriie Ippitsusai to take on the second incarnation of American Demolition in the form of Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Animal Harker. In a dramatic back and forth match that kept on raising the bar with each passing moment, Harker was finally able to hit the Stump Piledriver on Ippitsusai while Smith and Funakoshi were busy brawling at ringside, their clashes over the title well documented and contributing to the scuffle in the first place.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, American Demolition Mk.II defeated Funakoshi and Yoriie Ippitsusai in 18:34 when Animal Harker defeated Yoriie Ippitsusai by pinfall with a Stump Piledriver.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Much like their teammates Partnership of Pain, American Demolition Mk.II were not shy about their accomplishments once the match was over:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="3rJ5hD0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3rJ5hD0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="POBEZKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/POBEZKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Harker:</strong> "I said it yesterday, I'll say it again, no matter who I'm together with, my team still walks away with the win!"</p><p>

<strong>Smith:</strong> "I want Funakoshi to know that once Coast to Coast top this month's standings, I'm cashing in for the opportunity to beat him and claim the BCG World title. It's just a matter of time!"</p><p> </p><p>

This is how the score cards look after the show:</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 20</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 16</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 10</p>

Show Rating: D

Goemon Inoue: Black Canvas Grappling returns to its home region of Kinki for a sold out show to wrap up the third week of December. The show is just over and it was announced there will be a press conference tomorrow for the Generations show that will take place next week. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, here is what went down in the ring tonight:

The opening match saw a bit of an upset, as former sumo athlete Naozane Goto and heavyweight Eikichi Itou lost once again to the smaller but more harmonious pairing of "Double K" as is now the name that Kiyotaka and Gidayu Katou use for themselves. In a repeat of Tuesday's match in Shikoku, Katou scored the pinfall over Itou after connecting with a Lariat.

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Double K defeated Naozane Goto and Eikichi Itou in 9:34 when Gidayu Katou defeated Eikichi Itou by pinfall with a Lariat.

Rating: D

Once again, Double K returned backstage victorious, yet I was unable to get a moment with them for an interview.

Up next, veteran Yoriie Ippitsusai and young lion Shuzo Utagawa picked up two precious points for their stable against "100% Machine" Yuki Horigoshi and Kyuichi Matsumoto.

In a poor match, Yoriie Ippitsusai and Shuzo Utagawa defeated Yuki Horigoshi and Kyuichi Matsumoto in 10:01 when Yoriie Ippitsusai defeated Kyuichi Matsumoto by pinfall with a Yakuza Kick.

Rating: D-

This is what the representatives of Seven Samurai had to say once their match was over:

IV914xI.jpgdlVXejX.jpg

Ippitsusai: "This win was important for me but it was more important for the Samurai. It wasn't easy keeping up with the younger ones, so I had to outsmart them, I'm glad it worked out."

Utagawa: "It was a tough match, for sure, but always a learning experience."

In the main event, team leaders of Seven Samurai and Puroresu-gun teamed up with their respective second-in-command for an exciting tag match that had fans at the edge of their seats. With Torii still recovering from his kidney injury, Funakoshi and Taku made the best of this advantage, focusing their offense on his lower body and abdomen area. This limited his impact and had Blast Ikoma struggle to pull through, in turn exposing him to damage until Taku was able to hit him with the Full Nelson Bomb for the win.

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Funakoshi and Yoshinaka Taku defeated Bunrakuken Torii and Blast Ikoma in 18:51 when Yoshinaka Taku defeated Blast Ikoma by pinfall with a Full Nelson Bomb.

Rating: C

Addressing the crowd once the match was over, the winners had this to say:

8jfbhLn.jpgSabbj9c.jpg

Funakoshi: "Thank you all for coming to this show. It has been a pleasure and an honor wrestling in front of you."

Taku: "They say you're only as good as the ones you beat and it couldn't get much bigger than tonight. Congratulations to our opponents for their effort. Make sure you don't miss the press conference tomorrow."

So after the show, the score card looks like this:

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 20

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 18

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 14

Black Canvas Grappling

Generations

Press Conference Highlights

dUr8XzG.jpg

Though not himself present at the press conference, Irwin Gutmann was confirmed as having signed a touring contract with Black Canvas Grappling following his turbulent release from Ultimate European Wrestling. The wrestler will be making his debut at the Generations show, however he will do so in a dark pre-show match against fellow gaijin Conner Threepwood. A second dark pre-show match was also announced, in which Eikichi Itou will be facing Shuzo Utagawa.

Perhaps the two most promising tag teams to be formed this year in BCG, Shiga & Miyake and Double K are set to clash in a match at BCG Generations. The bout itself has been characterized as a prequel of what fans could expect from the upcoming TagMania tournament and indeed both teams are among the favorites to make it pretty far into the later stages of the tournament. Masayuki Shiga himself said he's feeling pretty well about this match despite his 52 years of age, of which 34 were spent in the ring, while Miyake has been hailed for a while now as BCG's brightest young prospect and a potential future ace in the making. Their opponents had few words to say regarding the matchup, though in typical Puroresu-gun fashion they sought to present themselves as the modern, energetic alternative to the "dinosaur" approach that Miyake and especially Shiga stand for.

Muscle Blasters are also one of the most promising teams to emerge in Black Canvas Grappling throughout this year and the reason for their absence from the previously mentioned match was explained later with the revelation of a brand new title belt, the BCG National title. As was explained, the decision to introduce a new singles title was made after the rules regarding the BCG Challengers Series title were put into effect, allowing its holder to vacate in exchange for a shot at the BCG World title. As such, Yoshifusa Maeda and Kazu Yoshizawa felt that a new "secondary" singles title with a more classic ruleset around it was required, leading to the introduction of the BCG National title. The promotion's three factions were then asked to name a (non-title holder) challenger to compete in a three way singles match and Puroresu-gun put Blast Ikoma forward, perhaps feeling he has lately been somewhat held back by his young lion partner in Muscle Serizawa. Seven Samurai responded in kind by naming Yoshinaka Taku as their choice, a man slowly breaking free of his father's shadow in Team Taku and a formidable former contender for the BCG World title. Coast to Coast chose to have Bulldozer Brandon Smith compete for the belt and while he certainly is a formidable challenger, the choice of a westerner fighting for the National title has received its fair share of heat.

D4Mz47n.jpg

In a sentimental moment that came next, Bunrakuken Torii revealed that he won't be fully healed in time for the show, which in turn means he can neither defend his BCG Challengers Series title nor trade it for a shot at Funakoshi's BCG World title. Repeating his desire to be a fighting champion, Torii chose to vacate the title for a match against Funakoshi in January. As for December's Generations show, the two scheduled opponents will be leading their army in a 3 vs 3 vs 3 faction war to open the show.

MXJ65pr.jpg

3rJ5hD0.jpgVi9pn5n.jpg

Due to the BCG Challengers Series title being vacated, Animal Harker and Yuki Horigoshi will be fighting each other in the semi-main event to crown the next champion. Harker received some criticism regarding his ability as a singles wrestler, to which he responded in rough fashion, while Horigoshi said this is his chance to "take the next step" in the company.

BCG Generations 2016 card

BCG National title match: Blast Ikoma vs Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Yoshinaka Taku

BCG Challengers Series title match: Animal Harker vs Yuki Horigoshi

Goemon Inoue:</strong> It is the last week of touring before BCG Generations and following the press conference to promote the show, this final week even more exciting now that we know the matchups. Join me as I break down tonight's matches and how they might affect their participants in the big event.</p><p> </p><p>

Combining Masayuki Shiga's experience and Motoyuki Miyake' undeniable skill, the duo were able to overcome the pairing of Connert Threepwood and Naozane Goto in the opening bout. Despite his clear power advantage, Goto was prevented from dominating the match and Threepwood's recent string of wins was brought to an end when Shiga hit him with the Deadlift German for the pin as the winners continue to build momentum leading to their clash with Double K at BCG Generations.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Shiga & Miyake defeated Conner Threepwood and Naozane Goto in 10:07 when Masayuki Shiga defeated Conner Threepwood by pinfall with a Deadlift German Suplex.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Shiga & Miyake were very happy with the result and understandably so. Here's what they had to say after the match:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="7VXjYUs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7VXjYUs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="S5oggAX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/S5oggAX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Shiga:</strong> "I am confident about our upcoming match, we just beat two very difficult opponents. Double K are commendable, but lack the experience or skill our team brings to the fight."</p><p>

<strong>Miyake:</strong> "We got the win and two points for the team. I have nothing but respect for Shiga-sama and this translates into what you see from us in the ring."</p><p> </p><p>

Their scheduled opponents wasted no time and responded in kind right after, defeating Yoriie Ippitsusai and Shuzo Utagawa of Seven Samurai in an equally exciting bout. For all their crisp technical skills, Ippitsusai and Utagawa's lack of diversity cost them the match as Double K hit them with a combination of power moves, brawling and submission wrestling they just couldn't provide an answer against.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Double K defeated Yoriie Ippitsusai and Shuzo Utagawa in 10:17 when Gidayu Katou defeated Shuzo Utagawa by pinfall with a Lariat.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

The response wasn't limited to the ring though. Double K were pretty vocal in their post-match statements:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="32BXfva.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/32BXfva.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="MkIWjY4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MkIWjY4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Kiyotaka:</strong> "Puroresu-gun stands for modern. Tonight we beat a relic of past times and a young lion looking to copy that antique style. It will be the same when we meet with Shiga & Miyake at BCG Generations."</p><p>

<strong>Katou:</strong> "I'm feeling more and more confident with every victory. There is no denying the future, we are the ones to bring this company to a new age."</p><p> </p><p>

In the main event, the second incarnation of American Demolition and Team Taku renewed hostilities in a feud that began late this spring. Even though the BCG World Tag Team titles are no longer in the picture, there is no love lost between the two sides and this became apparent as they traded merciless blows for almost twenty minutes. Despite being the one pinned, Toshinobu Taku received a standing ovation from the fans once the match was over, a show of respect for his resilience at age 49, his recent overcoming of an injury and everything he has done for the fans in these 31 years as a professional wrestler.</p><p>

Of course, the last word belonged to the winners and the gaijin duo did not hold back when they got on the mic:</p><p>

<strong>Harker:</strong> "Team Taku have a long history but it' just that, history. Right now, they're the losers and we're the ones in line to become champions. Whether as a team or singles wrestlers, you just can't hold us back 'cause we're that damn good!"</p><p> </p><p>

So to wrap it up, here are the scores after the show.</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 22</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 20</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 16</p>

Smith had to take over as my main gaijin heel (that render helps a lot with that) and Harker filled in to create AmDem Mk.II for the payoff of TagMania. Them being in title matches against someone who isn't Torii or Funakoshi is their reward for stepping up in 2016, as far as character development goes, since BCG eschew angles and promos (and gimmicks) I'm making the best of press conferences and post-match interviews to showcase a bit of character, establish feuds etc.</p>

Goemon Inoue:</strong> BCG fans in Kanto got a healthy dose of puroresu, with four matches total on the show and all the big stars in action. I am Goemon Inoue and I'm here with a post-show analysis of everything so you can stay up to speed.</p><p> </p><p>

The show opened with a young lion match between Coast to Coast's Eikichi Itou and Puroresu-gun's Kyuichi Matsumoto. Thanks to a combination of power, sharpened technical skills and his devastating Itou Bomb finisher, Eikichi Itou as able to get the win and two points for his group in the opener.</p><p>

<strong>In a terrible match, Eikichi Itou defeated Kyuichi Matsumoto in 9:42 by pinfall with an Itou Bomb.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Double K continued building up momentum for their big upcoming match against Shiga & Miyake with another victory over Ippitsusai and Utagawa. The Seven Samurai representatives tried to keep things slow and grounded, but Double K were able to impose their pace and force opponents to wrestle the style of match that suited them, with Katou ending things after he hit Utagawa with a Lariat.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Double K defeated Yoriie Ippitsusai and Shuzo Utagawa in 9:37 when Gidayu Katou defeated Shuzo Utagawa by pinfall with a Lariat.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

I was only able to find Kiyotaka for a statement after the match. This is what he had to say:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="32BXfva.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/32BXfva.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Kiyotaka:</strong> "Double K is here to stay. I know many underestimate us because we're young and brash, but our match record speaks for itself. It's about time the old guard made way for the new generation."</p><p> </p><p>

Full on faction warfare was in line next, as Muscle Blasters and Torii wrestled Funakoshi, Shiga & Miyake. Despite the ring being pretty crowded, all competitors put up a great performance and there was always someone around to break up a pin attempt; as a result, the match pushed on well past the ten minute mark until Serizawa got the surprise win by rolling up Motoyuki Miyake.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Puroresu-gun (Bunrakuken Torii, Blast Ikoma and MUSCLE Serizawa) defeated Seven Samurai (Funakoshi, Masayuki Shiga and Motoyuki Miyake) in 13:41 when MUSCLE Serizawa defeated Motoyuki Miyake by pinfall with a fast roll up.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Serizawa was overjoyed backstage and understandably so. He and teammate Blast Ikoma took a moment to talk to me after the match, while Bunrakuken Torii was being checked on by BCG medical staff:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xH5san9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xH5san9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="P2JXnpv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P2JXnpv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Ikoma:</strong> "It's never easy when you're in the ring with a man like Funakoshi or a hardened veteran like Shiga. I had to fight extra hard due to Torii being injured but I pulled through and we got a much deserved victory."</p><p>

<strong>Serizawa:</strong> "Miyake has been heralded as the next big thing in the young lion ranks, but tonight I proved there's others that deserve a share of the spotlight too."</p><p> </p><p>

BCG World Tag Team champions headlined the show with a hard hitting battle against former title holders Team Taku. The match had fans excited thanks to a mix of big moves and superbly stiff strikes and despite the loss, Team Taku were commendable in their effort as they kept things pretty even, preventing the Partnership of Pain from completely dominating the match and picking up a quick, easy win.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Partnership Of Pain defeated Team Taku in 11:44 when Giant Brody defeated Toshinobu Taku by pinfall with a Single Handed Choke Slam.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Addressing the Kanto fans, the champions had the following to say:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vkE7DNZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vkE7DNZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XebEMH0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XebEMH0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Matsushita:</strong> "This is how the following months will look like, all the way to TagMania and Test of Champions right after that. Get used to it, because we will demolish anyone who dares to get in the ring with us!"</p><p>

<strong>Brody:</strong> "I will never, ever, get tired of beating up fools who think they got a chance against us. Line 'em up, we knock 'em down!"</p><p> </p><p>

With only one more show to go tomorrow before BCG Generations, it looks like Seven Samurai are out of the race to top this month's scorecard. The remaining two groups however are only seperated by two points, that is, a single win, so things are bound to be exciting until the very end.</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 26</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 24</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 16</p>

Goemon Inoue:</strong> The Generations tour was wrapped up tonight and the final pieces fell in place before the big monthly show. Join me for a recap of tonight's show and an analysis of what's to come.</p><p> </p><p>

Out of this month's point race, Seven Samurai still made a statement that they shouldn't be counted out of the bigger picture as father and son Taku defeated young lions Matsumoto and Serizawa in the opening match. The former champions struggled initially as the energetic youngsters took the ageing Toshinobu Taku by storm, but with the help of his son Yoshinaka and making the best of their experience together, the former BCG World Tag Team champions were able to turn things around and walk away with the victory.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Team Taku defeated Kyuichi Matsumoto and MUSCLE Serizawa in 10:13 when Yoshinaka Taku defeated Kyuichi Matsumoto by pinfall with a Taku Tag Treatment.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Catching up with the Taku family backstage, I was able to get a few comments from the two of them:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="pzwPD24.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pzwPD24.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Sabbj9c.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Sabbj9c.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>T.Taku:</strong> "I am proud of my son and I always will be. I'm glad I got the chance to fight by his side and I try to savor every opportunity I get."</p><p>

<strong>Y.Taku:</strong> "Seven Samurai may be out of the point race this month, but our leader still holds the BCG World title and I'm scheduled to fight for the new BCG National title, so it is anything but a loss for us really."</p><p> </p><p>

Things got interesting in the following match, as representatives of Puroresu-gun and Coast to Coast clashed in a short but violent battle that could have yielded a premature winner. Continuing their recent string of victories, Double K were able to pick up another one, this time thanks to Kiyotaka's submission skills. This had them tied with Coast to Coast and turned the night's main event into the big tie breaker.</p><p>

<strong>In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Double K defeated Conner Threepwood and Eikichi Itou in 10:05 when Kiyotaka defeated Eikichi Itou by submission with a Kimura.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Neither team had any comments to make, as everyone was on the edge waiting for the main event.</p><p> </p><p>

For all their individual skill, Ikoma and Horigoshi still had to work out how to function as a team. American Demolition Mk.II tried to give them as few opportunities as they could in order to make the best of their own teaming experience, but this was easier said than done. Things went back and forth with plenty of comebacks and false finishes, but shortly before the twenty minute time mark, Ikoma hit Harker with a Northern Lights Bomb out of nowhere while Horigoshi and Smith were brawling at ringside, pulling off a surprise win for the underdog team in the match while also making sure that Puroresu-gun top the leaderboards to earn the group a title shot for any title they wish.</p><p>

<strong>In a decent match, Blast Ikoma and Yuki Horigoshi defeated American Demolition Mk.II in 18:49 when Blast Ikoma defeated Animal Harker by pinfall with a Northern Lights Bomb.</strong></p><p><strong>

Rating: </strong><strong><span style="color:#FF8C00;">C</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Addressing the crowd once the match was over, the winners were joined by the other members of their group to say the following:</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xH5san9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xH5san9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Vi9pn5n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Vi9pn5n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Ikoma:</strong> "Tonight, American Demolition Mk.II lost to me and Yuki, just like they will lose again at BCG Generations. I'm scheduled to face Smith and Yoshi Taku for the National title, Yuki here will be facing Harker for the Challengers Series. Consider this a taste of things to come."</p><p>

<strong>Horigoshi:</strong> "I know many of you are wondering who we will be challenging with the shot our group got after topping this month's leaderboards. Well, I'm sorry to say we won't be making a decision until after this week's Generations show. Although I'm pretty sure the only title left for us by then will be the BCG World Tag Team belts and you saw tonight we are more than capable of winning those too."</p><p> </p><p>

So the final point yield for December looks like this:</p><p>

Puroresu-gun (Torii): 28</p><p>

Coast to Coast (Brody/Matsushita): 26</p><p>

Seven Samurai (Funakoshi): 18</p>

Had the house to myself today while the wife took the kids to a birthday party so I’ve been power reading through diaries and found this one. Excellent stuff man! I’ve only recently begun to get into the Japanese wrestling scene irl with content becoming more accessible but this has made me want to take a look at what the CVerse has to offer too! Keep it up, I’ll be reading!

Horigoshi gave it his everything to keep the belt with Puroresu-gun and his methodical style blending submission grappling with stiff strikes made for a nice contrast to Harker's southern brawling approach. Playing off Thursday's surprise underdog win when Ikoma pinned Smith in a tag match, the big brawler from the U.S. seemed hellbent on returning the favor as he sought to pin the Puroresu-gun representative. This ultimately ended up costing him the match though, as after 30 grueling minutes of back and forth action, Ikoma hit Taku with an exploder suplex only to have his pin attempt broken up by Smith; instead of taking the win there and then by covering Taku, Smith chose to attack Ikoma, a fatal decision that exhausted both men and allowed Taku to recover. By the time hostilities were over, Ikoma was down on the mat and Smith simply stumbled into the Full Nelson Bomb as fans exploded in cheers over the young hopeful becoming the National champion by defeating the gaijin Smith.</p><p> <strong>In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Yoshinaka Taku defeated Blast Ikoma and Bulldozer Brandon Smith in 30:11 when Yoshinaka Taku defeated Blast Ikoma by pinfall with a Full Nelson Bomb. <p>It was the morning of New Year's Day and the ringing of my telephone came as no surprise. Neither did the identity of the caller.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="sFlfWPy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sFlfWPy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="3nSIDdW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3nSIDdW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

"Happy New Year, my friend! I'm sorry to call you in order to discuss business, but you know very well the first show of the Heritage tour is tomorrow and I wanted to hear what you have in mind."</p><p> </p><p>

I got comfortable on a chair in my living room and flipped through a few pages on my notebook. This wasn't going to be a quick chat.</p><p> </p><p>

"Happy New Year to you to, my friend. I've been expecting your call, especially after I looked up the End of the Year awards" I said bemused. I could almost hear Maeda smile on the other end of the line.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="WDoXCjX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/WDoXCjX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="latest?cb=20180729005327" data-src="https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/tew/images/1/12/GCG.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20180729005327" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

"That bastard Kudo got them up to Cult status despite the tsunami, so of course they won Most Improved Company of the Year, but I'm sure they'll come to regret it by the end of this year. Expenses are bound to skyrocket and I doubt they're prepared for it, especially with the economy in such a state. Plus the mandatory roster expansion that comes with the bump, speaking of which, your plan paid off. All of our young talent are still around and we have zero workers jumping ship to Golden Canvas with promises of money and TV exposure. Congratulations, my friend."</p><p> </p><p>

I nodded to myself in satisfaction. It's not everyday you get a legend of the business who's also your boss to praise you, friend or not. "It's an investment we made and it's paid off already. If all of my predictions for the future work out like that, pretty soon Golden Canvas will go bankrupt and all their talent will sign with us" I said jokingly. "Still, their rise takes them out of the Regional competition and that's good for us. 5SSW is now in the lead, but they cater to a different audience, plus they're probably rising to Cult within the year as well. EXODUS are the only ones beating us and that's just in their home area of Tohoku."</p><p> </p><p>

"Well that's because they launder money by overproducing everything!" Maeda exploded. "Enough of others though, tell me what you have in store for <strong><em>Black</em></strong> Canvas."</p><p> </p><p>

"Expanding the roster" I said without any sign of hesitation in my tone. "Ever since we introduced stables and eliminated matchups between stablemates, it's becoming harder and harder to come up with fresh matchups for such a heavy schedule. Which is also why I'm cutting the tour down to two shows a week. Should save us some money so we can put on better shows with a larger roster."</p><p> </p><p>

I expected Maeda to argue, or at least question my decision, but he didn't. "You make a valid point, all things considered. Who do you have in mind?"</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="dUr8XzG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dUr8XzG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="VfnB77X.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VfnB77X.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

"First of all, Gutmann had a good debut and he's got a lot of potential, but he needs to make a name for himself in Japan before we can push him. Without a TV deal, that should take forever and I can't afford building up gaijin instead of our young lions. I'm probably cutting him and Threepwood loose when we take a break after TagMania."</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/CO7PSWX.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

"I've offered contracts to three men who already have some name value in Japan. First one's Rob Reynolds, toured with PGHW from June to October in '16. He's Asian-American and comes from a kickboxing background, plus he can pull off some nasty head-first drops, so he should fit right in, especially if we tone down his few high risk top rope moves. He has the skills, he has the look and if he has the X factor about him, he might prove to be a valuable asset. I mean, 6 years in the business already and he's only 26!"</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="dVZrivn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dVZrivn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

"Next one's Sterling Whitlock, he was on the same tour and that's because Alexander Robinson trained him. That should pretty much tell you everything about his style, he's all about consistent, low-risk strikes that set up the big suplexes. For an American, his puroresu game is pretty strong and unless Robinson convinces PGHW to snatch him from us, he's only a year younger than Reynolds, so we might be able to make him into something in the long run."</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="1fN7bAM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1fN7bAM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

"Last one is Storm Spillane, also same age and experience as the other two and on the same PGHW tour. He too is influenced a lot by the classic puroresu style, though from what I saw of his matches, he's probably the most well rounded of the three. Speaking of his matches, he's got an impressive list already: PGHW, CZCW and COTT tag champion plus an impressive series of matches with MAW in the 2015 Sam Keith Classic."</p><p> </p><p>

"I don't mind eating from PGHW's scraps" Maeda snorted. "By now they're the only one not directly in league or influenced by this damned Modern Japan Movement anyway. Just don't forget to keep the focus on our own homegrown talent."</p><p> </p><p>

"About that," I cut him off "I have some plans, but I'm sure you don't have the time for an extensive breakdown of the schedule and how I'm thinking of using each worker.."</p><p> </p><p>

It was a trap. Of course he had. And so, I found myself spending several hours of the first day of 2017 on the phone...</p>

Keep it up, I’ll be reading!</div></blockquote><p> Appreciate the praise and I'm glad you like it! Should you ever feel the need to re-render some of my roster's bigger, beefier members like Naozane Goto, feel free and I'll be happy to use your work.</p>

I just want to echo some of Bison's sentiments. I have been reading this diary off and on for several months -- often I end up binging it to make sure I get caught up. I really enjoy the work you're doing -- and the way you're able manage the touring company elements -- something that has always been a struggle for me.
