“Sean, what’s this?”

 

The words hung in the air, James J McMinister’s confused tone hanging longer as he started at the piece of paper placed on his desk.

 

 

“It’s my notice James. I told you back when I took the job that I was only looking for it to be a short term thing before I retired. That was nearly ten years ago.”

 

James’ confusion cleared up. He had always feared that this day would come, purposely holding off in hope that Sean had quietly changed his mind. There wasn’t really anyone else he could trust to take over the booking and the thought of booking as well as running the promotion never crossed his mind.

 

J: “I respect your decision Sean but there isn’t anyone ready to replace you”.

 

Sean knew it as well as James did. Lanny would never take the book. David would in a heartbeat but he’d only end up putting himself on top. No one really wanted to see it back in the days of Aussie Rules, definitely no one would pay to see it now 20 years later.

 

S: “I know James but I’m not staying. My time has come and gone. You’ve got Max doing things I’d never dream of doing.”

 

James sighed. Sean sighed back. There was no changing his mind.

 

J: “So what am I going to do Sean?”

 

S: “Don’t worry, I know a guy. Give me a minute.”.

 

Sean waited and almost on cue, a heavy knock rapped the door to James’ office. Sean opened the door and James grew even more confused.

 

J: “Jansen?”

The question hung in the air for an uncomfortable amount of time.The last time James and Jansen had been in the same room was just after The Southern Hemisphere Incident. No one had pleasant memories of that night. Well no one except Blake Belushi.</p><p> </p><p>

James went to speak up but the silent glare of Jansen silenced him. James always had a suspicion that Jansen wasn’t on board with him being involved in Australian wrestling. A few of the elder statesmen had the same thoughts. APW’s rise to prominence was always quietly championed as the main reason for RAW’s formation.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>S:</strong> “Give him a chance James. Otherwise, you may as well accept defeat and let Dave book himself into a juggernaut.”</p><p> </p><p>

Jansen appeared taken aback by Sean openly saying what everyone feared - albeit only showed by one eyebrow raised in mild interest. James stretched out his hand.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>J:</strong> “I guess that’s that. Jansen, welcome to APW.”</p><p> </p><p>

<p>I am all in on this diary. I love APW and I love the Spiffy and Alexander renders. I dislike Hamsteads original render and the new one is very A.J Styles ish but I do like the render itself.</p><p> </p><p>

As for "Why Lone Shark?" Easy, because he assessed his own worth and moved on. He had more potential outside of ZEN one of the only guys IIRC to make a jump to DIW, or APW. Which isn't a big leap really, but has springboarded him above most guys in ZEN. He isn't your typical "Kal Wayne" leaping at the money RAW throws around. No he is a talent and knows it. </p><p> </p><p>

He also has just perfect marketability, I mean the shark, really his own logos would be easy to design, he could be made not only into a wrestling action figure, but could sell toy sharks as well. What you think Nathan "Big Mac" McKenzie has marketability? No he doesn't, first logo design would be a Big Mac, until McDonalds come knocking. Then what Mack Truck? Ha! Already trademarked. The shark moves merch. </p><p> </p><p>

If this is going to be a constant thing I am definitely going to throw out some odd choices, but I think I will stick with a potential star of APW. A great talent, that rubs people the wrong way for sure. Reggie Tate. He has everything to be the next Nathan McKenzie in terms of leading the company, as long as his attitude stays in check.</p>

Why did he feel the need to move to APW after his stint at ZEN.
