King Bison
Talk about a (forced) roster shakeup... Diggin' the new Cummos portraits! Well needed I think lol though I tried to convince him that Nolan Dunn was the future of his company and should instead be signed to a 10 year deal for all the money. And yeah whoever did those Cummo renders must be one talented and handsome son of a gun

I was alone at my table. The restaurant was near empty. I took another bite of my sandwich. While I wasn’t wrestling anymore, I still tried to eat relatively healthy. This was an exception. Chicken Parmesan sandwich, french fries topped with warm marinara sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. An ice cold Pepsi. My comfort food.

I didn’t need comfort for any professional reason. Business was going well. We were successful. We were consistently drawing near 3,000 fans -- our last several shows had all been sell outs. Creatively, I was as inspired as I had ever been. It was just one of those days. One of those days that society, at least my generation of society, isn’t supposed to talk about. One of those days where you don’t want to get out of the bed. You want to just run from the world and responsibilities. One of those days where the medicine really didn’t help much.

On these days, I eat chicken parmesan and fries smothered with delicious goodness. On these days, I sat at a booth by myself and tried to ignore the rest of the world. I took another bite and chased it with a swallow of Pepsi. This had been a battle I had been fighting since I was fourteen. Back then, no one said anything. You’d get a stigma with the diagnosis. So I learned to push it deep. I wasn’t until the mid 2000’s that I got an actual diagnosis and got on medicine. Before that it had all been self medication. I wasn’t the only one to live like that. To hide the illness in the closet. To be ashamed of it -- or to be ashamed to talk about it at the very least. There were lots of us in the ‘rasslin’ business. It seemed to attract us like flies. Maybe it’s because we could hide in plain sight. We could play the star on the television or in the ring and hide how we really felt. I was used to hiding in plain sight.

I dipped my fork into my fries so I could get a mouthful. Business was going good. Family life was going good. I was happy -- except today I wasn’t. I ate another bite of my sandwich and then my fries. Today wasn’t a day I could focus on business. Today wasn’t a day I could bring myself to care about booking or production or training. This is why it was good to have Joel and Riley and Marjorie. On days where I was fighting a losing battle, they helped me fight. They gave me space. They checked in on me, but they handled things when I mentally couldn’t. Today, I was afforded the space and time I needed and I was grateful. I took another bite of my sandwich. I took a deep breath. It was going to be okay. I *knew* that. I was going to be okay. I was okay.

I'm a super long way back and reading up to the present, but I just want to touch on this segment, cause it made me tear up. Felt very real, and very relatable.

TLCJR4LIFE
This is my favorite dynasty for a number of reasons. Always love Gold Rush, Oxford and Summit. Small suggestion you seem like your company is very focused on higher guys, might I recommend a Junior Heavyweight division so your Lightweights can have a better platform to shine among the giants? Held At: V Thompson Arena [south West, USA] In Attendance: 9,643 Buy Rate: .14 [71,360 buys] Commentators: Lee Bambino & Ricky Dale Johnson LB: Hello and welcome to the eighth annual Gold Rush tournament. We are coming to you from the V Thompson Arena where almost ten thousand fans of crammed into the building to see the premier professional wrestling in the United States and the premier wrestling tournament in the United States. Sixteen men have put their names forward to prove who is the toughest, the best, who can survive two nights of the toughest competition in all of wrestling. Plus, the World Heavyweight Title is on the line, the Women’s Tag Team Titles are on the line and the North American Tag Team Titles are on the line -- and that’s just tonight! RDJ: This is my favorite weekend in all of wrestling, in all of the Continental Wrestling League calendar. It’s what professional wrestling is supposed to be about. Sixteen men trying to prove that they are the toughest. They can take the most punishment. When I broke into the sport in Texas, I remember a tournament we held in Dallas. It was an eight-man, one-night tournament. It was incredibly tough. I bled buckets, but at the end of the night I was champion. These two nights are even tougher. I had to win three matches in one night -- very tough. And to win this tournament, you have to win tonight and then win three matches tomorrow. It takes guts. It takes immeasurable amounts of intestinal fortitude. It takes a willingness to suffer, to hurt. It takes the ability to block out pain and to wrestle people you have not had an opportunity to prepare for outside of the first round. LB: Who do you think is the favorite to win this? If you were betting, who would you put your money on? RDJ: That’s a good question. There is a part of me that thinks Greg Keith has a good chance at repeating and becoming the first two-time Gold Rush winner. Any of Bowen Services has a shot. It’s hard to pick and I don’t like to bet when I’m not sure -- but if push comes to shove… I’m going to say Funakoshi. I think this is the year of Lionheart. LB: Well, with that let’s get right to the ring for our first tournament match! Opening Match Singles Match Fifteen Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Opening Match Greg Keith versus “The Omega Man” Harvey Robbinfield In a decent match, Greg Keith defeated Harvey Robbinfield in 8:41 by submission with a Proton Lock. Singles Match Fifteen Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Opening Match Ranger versus Cameron Vessey w/ Lisa Bowen In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Cameron Vessey defeated Ranger in 11:51 by pinfall with a Vessey Driver II. Singles Match Fifteen Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Opening Match “Lionheart” Funakoshi versus “Glorious” Logan Diaz In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Logan Diaz defeated Funakoshi in 9:38 by pinfall with a Belly To Belly Suplex. Singles Match Fifteen Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Opening Match “The Canadian Wrestling Machine” David Stone versus “Flawless” Franklin Rush w/ Lisa Bowen In a decent match, David Stone defeated Franklin Rush in 10:43 by pinfall with a German Suplex. SS: Ladies and gentlemen, before you we have the greatest sports entertainer of all time. There is no doubt about it. If you don’t believe it, look at Lisa right now. She’s holding the World’s Heavyweight Championship. The World’s Heavyweight Championship that I have defended all around the world. Unbeatable. And everywhere I go, people come up to me. They say ‘Champ, Ross Henry keeps thinking he was screwed. Supreme Star, Ross Henry is still crying about his loss to you. Spencer, how did you get so good looking? To the first two, I say I don’t care. To the third, I tell them it’s just good genetics. I was born blessed. Blessed with good looks. Blessed with supreme intelligence. Blessed with unparalleled athleticism. Blessed with a mental fortitude that is unmatched. But, tonight the GWC and CWL have decided that crybaby Ross Henry. The whiner Ross Henry. Mr. Second Place. Mr. Congenialty. The runner up. He gets a chance at the World Heavyweight Champion. I don’t agree with the decision. I don’t think he should be in the ring with me unless he’s taking my ring jacket and carrying it to the back for me. He’s got a shot though and I’m the World’s Champion. And later tonight, I’m going to walk down that aisle like only I can walk. I’m going to get in that ring and wrestle a match like only I can wrestle and when it’s all said in done. When the dust settles and the announcement is made -- it will be that I am STILL the World’s Heavyweight Champion. Like it or love it, it’s the truth. Let’s go Lisa… The duo walk off to finish preparing for the World’s Title match in the main event. Tag Team Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Amber Allen & Jaime Quine versus The Uprising © In a bout that had good wrestling but didn't have much heat, Amber Allen and Jaime Quine defeated The Uprising in 15:26 when Talia Quinzel intentionally got counted out while fighting Amber Allen. In terms of in-ring work, Jaime Quine was head and shoulders above everyone else. Singles Match Fifteen Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Opening Match “The Hillbilly Hammer” Clyde Puder versus Hammer Hadley In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Clyde Puder defeated Hammer Hadley in 9:41 by pinfall with a Patriot Powerslam. Singles Match Fifteen Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Opening Match “The Headhunter” Jeffery Aroma versus “Cool Hand” Casey Valentine w/ Lisa Bowen In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Casey Valentine defeated Jeffery Aroma in 12:06 by pinfall with a Deep Impact. Singles Match Fifteen Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Opening Match Matty Faith versus Keith Holly w/ February Malaise In a bout that had superb wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Matty Faith defeated Keith Holly in 10:12 by pinfall with a Leap Of Faith. Singles Match Fifteen Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Opening Match KC Glenn versus Ash Campbell w/ Lisa Bowen In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Ash Campbell defeated KC Glenn in 10:43 by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage. Semi Main Event Tag Team Match Forty-Five Minute Time Limit Henry Garner is in a cage ringside The Heartbreak Express versus The Dynamite Express © w/ Henry Garner In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, The Heartbreak Express defeated The Dynamite Express in 8:45 when Johnny Needham defeated Cameron Jones by pinfall with a Moonsault. The Heartbreak Express win the CWL Tag Team titles. RH: Earlier tonight, Spencer Spade had some very choice words for me. He was very specific. He called me a cry baby. A loser. A guy who always comes in second place. Spencer, I want you to listen close. I want you to scoot up in your chair to the monitor in your locker room. I want you to pay close attention. Ross Henry holds up his fist. He has his two professional football championship rings on his hand. RH: I’m anything but a loser. I’m anything but a man who finishes in second place. I’m a man who gets the job done. I’m the man who beat Tommy Cornell. Who beat Jay Chord. Who has beaten every challenge put in front of me. Every challenge the CWL can find. Every challenge the GWC can find. I rise the occasion. Because I’m a big time player. I’m the guy who wants the ball in his hands at the end of the game. I’m the guy the team turns to -- and you Spencer…. You are the guy that hides behind a woman. Who relies on his buddies in the Bowen Services. You’re the man who ducks and dodges and does whatever he can to not have to get into the ring with me. Tonight though, you can’t run. You can’t hide. You can stand in that ring and you can look across at the baddest man on the planet and you can know that you’ve got less than sixty minutes left. You’re one Earthquake Powerslam away from being everything I’ve ever said you are. A great athlete, but a man who is out of his depth. ‘Cause the Boss is here and the Boss is ready to take back what is rightfully his.
In an exceptional match, Spencer Spade defeated Ross Henry in 29:04 by pinfall with a Supreme Stunner after Lisa Bowen interfered. Spencer Spade makes defence number 6 of his GWC World Heavyweight title. Overall
Historian
This is my favorite dynasty for a number of reasons. Always love Gold Rush, Oxford and Summit. Small suggestion you seem like your company is very focused on higher guys, might I recommend a Junior Heavyweight division so your Lightweights can have a better platform to shine among the giants? Also Devil’s Rejects are underrated! Thank you for the compliment. I'm a pretty big fan of this diary also. CWL is focused on heavyweights (not in pure size being just heavyweight, but Middleweight and above, the heavyweight division). I have flirted with starting a full blown junior heavyweight division. I have a Junior Heavyweight title in my developmental and there is the GWC World Junior Heavyweight Championship. So, at least for the time being, I probably won't be starting a full fledged junior division, because I can build to my junior's fighting directly for the World Junior title, though there are plans to let the juniors go at it more in the future. And I hope the Rejects aren't underrated. I love them! They're graduates of the dojo and I've really built them into my main heel tag team and what not. But I'm glad you like them. Held At: V Thompson Arena [south West, USA] In Attendance: 10,000 [sELL OUT!] Buy Rate: .10 [50,662 buys] Commentators: Lee Bambino & Ricky Dale Johnson LB: Hello and welcome to the second night of the Gold Rush tournament. We are once again coming to you live from the V. Thompson Arena in front of a sold-out crowd of ten thousand screaming fans. Last night, we saw eight first-round match ups that have led us to tonight. Eight men remain from our initial field of sixteen. Eight men with the same goal, raising the trophy at the end of the night and potentially earning themselves a future North American Heavyweight Championship opportunity. Last night we also saw Spencer Spade successfully defend the World’s Heavyweight Championship against Ross Henry in what was one of the best matches we’ve ever seen here in CWL. RDJ: It was a sensational match, Lee. One that really drives home the point that the Continental Wrestling League is presenting the very best professional wrestling action in the United States. We are a wrestling company. We aren’t sports entertainment. There aren’t go-go-dancers. We don’t have five-second poses. The men and women here wrestle. I don’t care what Spencer Spade says about himself, he’s a premier wrestling talent. Tonight, eight more men are going to prove that they are also a premier wrestling talent. They have to survive three matches tonight -- in addition to the one they survived last night. Tonight, we find out who is the toughest. I can’t wait. LB: So let’s not waste any more time and get right to ringside. Opening Match Singles Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Second Round Greg Keith versus Cameron Vessey w/ Lisa Bowen In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Cameron Vessey defeated Greg Keith in 8:57 by pinfall by using underhanded tactics. Singles Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Second Round “The Canadian Wrestling Machine” David Stone versus “Glorious” Logan Diaz In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, David Stone defeated Logan Diaz in 9:55 by pinfall. Singles Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Second Round “Hillbilly Hammer” Clyde Puder versus “Cool Hand” Casey Valentine w/ Lisa Bowen In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Casey Valentine defeated Clyde Puder in 10:15 by pinfall with a Deep Impact after Lisa Bowen interfered. Singles Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Second Round Matty Faith versus Ash Campbell w/ Lisa Bowen In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Matty Faith defeated Ash Campbell in 16:22 by pinfall with a Leap Of Faith. Our cameraman turns a corner and we see Riley McManus and KC Glenn standing with Jeffery Aroma standing in front of them. It’s clear the three men are trying to have a private conversation, but that doesn’t stop our cameraman from trying to sneak closer and catch what is being said. JA: I know you have no reason to trust me. I know I broke our trust, but I wasn’t thinking straight. I was under the spell of Lisa Bowen. She had poisoned my mind. Promised me glory and championships and all the things I’ve ever wanted. I’m sorry. Riley and KC say nothing. JA: But they’re coming after me with everything they have. They want to put me out of this sport and I’m one man on an island. No one else in the locker room is going to help me. They don’t like me. I’ve been the Headhunter for so long. I took masks off of people. I took pride in being a bully. I don’t expect their help, but I’m asking for your help. Please. Riley, KC. Stand with me against Bowen Services. Help me. Riley and KC look at one another. They exchange some hushed whispers that the cameraman can’t quite catch. RM: Alright Jeffery. We’ll help you, but we aren’t forgetting what you did. The hell you put me through. The blood of mine you spilled. If it looks like for a second you’re not on the up and up with us, we’ll leave you high and dry to fight this battle on your own. JA: I completely understand. At this point, KC notices the camera. KC: Hey. Get out of here. This isn’t for public consumption! Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Alicia Strong w/ Lisa Bowen versus “Country Made” Pearl Flanders © In a decent match, Alicia Strong defeated Pearl Flanders in 13:06 by pinfall with an Angel Driver. Alicia Strong wins the CWL Women's title. Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Semi Final “The Canadian Wrestling Machine” David Stone versus Cameron Vessey w/ Lisa Bowen In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Cameron Vessey defeated David Stone in 13:11 by pinfall with a Vessey Driver II. Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Gold Rush Tournament Semi Final Matty Faith versus “Cool Hand” Casey Valentine w/ Lisa Bowen In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Matty Faith defeated Casey Valentine in 12:15 by pinfall with a Leap Of Faith. Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit “The Evolution” Primus Allen versus “The Butcher” Alexander Vasquez © In a decent match, Primus Allen defeated Alexander Vasquez in 11:13 by pinfall with a Running Powerslam. Primus Allen wins the CWL United States title. In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Torment defeated Matthew Keith in 17:05 by pinfall with a Big Bite. Torment makes defence number 1 of his CWL North American Heavyweight title. CV: Tonight, I’m going to give Matty Faith a memory he will never forget. Tonight, I’m going to drive Matty into the mat with a Vessey Driver and let him stare up at the bright lights. I want him to understand that tonight is the night of Bowen Services. Tonight is the night of Cameron Vessey. I’ve done a lot in my sixteen year career. A lot to prove that I’m one of the best wrestlers in the world. But tonight, I prove that I’ve been overlooked for too long. Tonight, I’m going to elevate Bowen Services once more. We control the World’s Heavyweight Title and tonight we’re about to take possession of the Gold Rush tournament. Tonight, I put Matty Faith out of professional wrestling. MF: It’s all been building to this. My whole journey in this business has been building to this moment. Eight years in the sport has led me to right here. With one match between me and immortality. One match between me and people remembering who I am, as something more than Christian Faith’s son. I’ve been a World Tag Team Champion four times. I’ve been a World Six Man Champion. I even was World Openweight Champion until a couple of nights ago when Yoshimi Mushashibo proved, at least on that night, that he was the better man. I’ve been North American Heavyweight Champion and I’ve won the Oxford Invitational...but tonight… tonight I win the Gold Rush. Tonight I put my name in the history books. Tonight, Matty Faith will climb to the highest of heights and I will leap and I will drive my elbow straight into the heart of Cameron Vessey and I will be Gold Rush Champion. You can have faith in that.
In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Matty Faith defeated Cameron Vessey in 18:29 by pinfall with a Leap Of Faith. Matty Faith wins the Gold Rush title. Overall

This is a monumental occurrence. Not many wrestling companies live to see 250 shows, and CWL has done so. In celebration of it being the 250th show in CWL history, Robert Oxford, "Pistol" Pete Hall and the Global Wrestling Council have all agreed that for the first time ever, the GWC World's Heavyweight Championship will be defended on an episode of free television in the United States. Reigning champion Spencer Spade, fresh off his successful defense over Ross Henry, will put the championship on the line against former Gold Rush winner Greg Keith in what is sure to be an excellent match up. In addition, Jakob Yoder will defend his newly won Television Championship against "Glorious" Logan Diaz. There will be three other matches. SHARE THIS: James Diaz suspended James Diaz, currently one half of the World Tag Team Champions, has been suspended by CWL for unprofessional conduct when he got into an unsactioned locker room fight with Ash Campbell over Gold Rush weekend. Diaz was originally scheduled to appear on last week's Saturday Night Slammasters but was removed after he caused a fight. His suspension is for thirty days. SHARE THIS: Funakoshi returning to Japan "Lionheart" Funakoshi is returning to Japan to compete for PGHW. He has been with CWL for just under a year and in that time he has twice won the United States Championship and cemented himself as a top level competitor. He cited homesickness as his main motivation for wanting to return to Japan. We wish him all the best in his future and are sure he will be back in CWL representing PGHW. SHARE THIS: Mass Releases The following workers have been granted their release from CWL (some were in TGL under developmental contracts): Ranger, The Fighting Irish, Skip Beau, Hellcat Hernandez, Masked Stranger, Toni Parisi, Ray Badell, Dash Roux, Blaisdell Michaud, Brian Stones, Cody Franklin, Eric Hackney, Danny Beneteau, Harvey Robbinfield, Jurobei Takano, Rocky Weatherfield, Tim London, Tommy Huey, Walter Lewis, Teresa Perez, Houston Handley, Tiffany Jade, Foxxy LaRue, Hammer Hadley, and Kip Keenan. Most of these moves were expected. They were done for a combination of reasons. The number one reason is the clearly of roster space to allow for some developmental workers to be called up onto the main roster. It also creates more opportunity in TGL. Several workers had asked for their release to pursue other opportunities because they were not happy with their current spots in CWL. DarK_RaideR
Matty Faith winning the tournament came completely out of left field for me, but I guess it is a step towards re-establishing the man after his initial success and subsequent "jobber to the stars" spot on his own or as part of the Mission. BigJay2003
Great Gold Rush. When I looked at it, I had the winner of the Campbell/Faith match winning. Unfortunately, I chose poorly. Plus, not realizing that Funakoshi was heading out the door, my surprise finals run for him seems pretty dumb...

Sad to see some of the stalwarts of CWL head for the door. Ranger had been passed long ago, but he spent a lot of sweat equity carrying the tag division for a while with Faith. Everyone else was basically fodder for the rest of the roster, so no real reason to miss them if the developmental guys can do it (and probably do it for cheaper).

On the ladies side, losing LaRue and Jade is a surprise. I figure Jade might be losing a little in the ring at this point in time, but LaRue could be a star. I hope the door isn't closed on her future in CWL.

I hope to bring him back in on a talent trade after he gets settled in. Originally, he was going to beat both the Diaz cousins in the tournament to set up bringing back Torii for a World Tag Title feud, but with James' suspension and Funakoshi leaving for PGHW, I had to change plans.
