Bret Heartbreak has been called up from TGL. The twenty-four year old spent two years working in Texas honing his craft. He is the son of famed European wrestler Byron and spent the first three years of his career wrestling in Europe. He is now entering his sixth year as a professional and hopes to eclipse his father's legacy by becoming a star in the United States.</p><p> </p><p>

Jeremy Peck, Jeremy Perez, and Tyler Murphy have been signed to developmental deals. Peck and Perez, the proteges of the retired Demon Spite -- will be forming a tag team known as the New Demons. Murphy is a graduate of Joe Sexy's "Sexy Dojo". At 6'1" and almost 250 pounds, the muscular brawler could have a bright future in a CWL that loves a good brawl.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Looks like Sgt Bison is on a good roll right now. He’s been killing it in the ring with just about everyone he faces, putting on Main Event caliber matches in the midcard.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Ballstic is another guy who’s really taken off with his new gimmick, although Barrage(not sure who this was) isn’t quite up to that level. Will be interesting to see how that develops and if Ballistic ever goes single. Ballistic struggled as Eddie Carter solo so the Tag Team might be the remedy.</p><p> </p><p>

Definitely now that the Light Heavyweights are in full bloom I think things are looking up for CWL despite the massive veteran talent loss.</p><p> </p><p>

Bret Heartbreak is also a star in waiting for sure.</p>

Or at least not outright hate him. Maybe because I hate his dad so much. Byron's portrait alone is enough to generate heel heat and I'll always see him as the 'sports entertainment" antagonist to RoF and UEW in those regions. Bret, on the other hand, may look similar, but isn't trying to cash in his name or ride the coattails of his dad. If his dad tries to push him that way, it only makes him more sympathetic to me. If Bret tries to be his own man, fine. If he tries to leave his dad's shadow, even better. Seriously, as long as Byron is in the equation, there's no way I can hate someone more <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p><strong>Author's Note</strong>: First, I'd like to give a special thanks to Togg who made the graphics and layout for the new world news posts for me. He even taught me how to properly use that layout so I can add news stories! Second, my goal now that I'm firmly entrenched in Cult -- and because it's been asked for -- is to update the readers on what's going on in the C-Verse at large, so as there are signings or news I feel is interesting, I'll post it here. I will also start posting the quick results for the major companies Big Events (not going to do their weekly TV, but their monthly big shows I will.)</p><p> </p><p>

Feel free to leave feedback or to request specific kinds of news to be kept updated on.</p>

LB: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill-packed episode of Saturday Night Slammasters.

Father Grim and Torment were shrouded in darkness. Only a small light provided any sort of sight. Grim spoke of Matty Faith. Of what he was going to have to overcome at Thanksgiving Thunder. Torment is a man unleashed. A monster unchained. The embodiment of the pain the Lord holds for sinners. Killer Shark fell, but Torment has risen to the heights of the business. Matty Faith will know what it feels like to fall like Torment had to fall.

The Uprising were backstage and are very confident about their upcoming Women’s Tag Team Title opportunity at Thanksgiving Thunder. They are going to become the first two-time Women’s Tag team Champions and there isn’t a damn thing Amber Allen or Jaime Quine can do to change that.

Mikey James is confident going into Thanksgiving Thunder. He believes that he is the best Junior Heavyweight in the World and at Thanksgiving Thunder he will prove that by beating both Alexander Vasquez and Jimmy Stratosphere. Both of his opponents are very talented, but the Dragon will not be slain.

My hope is to have the show up tonight, so last call for predictions.

Most of you have notice that posting has gone a little slower -- the new school year started and I'm at a brand new school and in an environment that is different than what I'm used to and my class load is significantly heavier than it was previously (none of which is bad) but that has taken some adjustments. My previous pace will not be the current pace, but this diary should still be receiving regular updates (and probably some days where there are several updates at once.)

LB: Hello and welcome to Thanksgiving Thunder! We are coming to you like from the Oregon Gardens in Portland, Oregon. We have almost fourteen thousand fans packed into this wonderful building for the 2023 installment of Thanksgiving Thunder. Tonight in our main event, Matty Faith attempts to topple the monster Torment for the North American Heavyweight Championship. A task that is a lot easier on paper than it is in reality.

RDJ: That’s very true. Torment has not been pinned to the mat in a year and a half, Lee. A year and a half. He’s been disqualified and as we saw last month, he’s been on the losing end of some tag team or six man tag matches -- but never as the one taking the fall. For over a year and a half, he has not been pinned to the mat. Since winning the North American title from Riley McManus in July, he’s been incredibly dangerous -- more so than he had been before.

LB: Plus, Ross Henry battles “Hollywood” Bret Starr and an eight man tag team match -- where if The Cummos and The Heartbreak Express win they will have a triple threat match up for the tag team titles at Christmas Chaos.

The morning air was cold and crisp. When the wind from the mountains picked up, it could punch you in the face (metaphorically speaking of course) and really make sure you were awake. Matty loved the morning air. He loved mornings. It made him an anomaly or an abnormality in the wrestling business. It was a business built around the nightlife. You worked a show and couldn’t come down from the high until two or three o’clock in the morning and then slept all day. Not Matty. He had always been a morning person. It used to annoy his mother because she could never sleep in and when his father was home on his off days he often had to get up with Matty to give Mama Faith a break. As an adult, Matty kept to his morning-guy ways.</p><p> </p><p>

Most mornings, he was up around five thirty. It was his quiet time. He’d lace up his running shoes and head out for thirty to fifty minutes of a run. In the elevation of Denver, it was great cardiovascular training. Outside, the cool air filling his lungs, his headphones on his ears. He was free from all distractions. His mind could relax and he could easily find himself in that ‘Runner’s High’ place that people talk about. That euphoric feeling when the pain seems to dissipate and the stress of the previous day leaves and he is just able to run. </p><p> </p><p>

Last night, he had done the favors for Torment. He had no problems doing the favors -- even if he wanted to be the top guy. He knew where the story was headed. He knew where he was headed. Robert had been very clear that he was wanting to build Matty to a certain level. Most people in the wrestling press were certain that either Ross or Clyde were going to be the top face of CWL, but Matty knew it was destined for him. Ross and Clyde were great wrestlers, each capable of being a top face in their own unique way. Ross still had lots of mainstream appeal, he had a lot of natural charisma and charm and any room he walked into he was likely the best looking man in the room. He was a rockstar without having a lick of musical talent. </p><p> </p><p>

Clyde was a homegrown talent. A graduate of the training school. He was as big as a tree and as strong as an ox and when he talked the people believed him. But they weren’t destined to be the top babyface. That was Matty. Matty had put the work in when no one was looking. Countless hours in the gym or running or in the ring. He had never asked for anyone to notice him. Despite his last name, despite his father having been one of the most famous men in American pro wrestling for two decades, Matty didn’t expect anything. At least not at this stage of his career. When he was eighteen and green-as-grass in RIPW? Maybe then. He may have thought he was going to be fast-tracked to the main roster and going to be pushed to the moon, but that didn’t happen. The Eisens let him walk after a few years and he found his way to Robert and to being in a tag team and having a stop-and-start singles push, but the times they were a changing. He had won Gold Rush. He lost last night, but he knew the plan was to build back up his momentum, to get him to the place he needs to be.</p><p> </p><p>

He grit his teeth and pushed himself to move faster. His legs driving into the hard packed dirt of the running trail. Pushing him forward. He had to be in tip top shape. He knows there are guys waiting in developmental who could be stars. Derringer. Rain. Irons. Running Bear. That Giant. All of them could be stars. Riley was still around and would always have a special place in the CWL fans hearts -- he was Mister CWL after all. Clyde and Ross were hugely popular. Clyde was being rebuilt as well. Matty had noticed. He hadn’t lost a match in two months -- and had been on TV each week. He’d lost one singles match since August -- and that was to Casey Valentine in the Gold Rush. Matty understood that Robert was making sure his business interests were protected. If he got hurt, Robert would have to have a back up plan. If Matty took the title and his run didn’t get over -- he had to have a plan in place. It was the wrestling business. Matty understood this. He was comfortable with this, but that didn’t mean it did not push him even harder. He wanted the spot that he knew was his. He liked Ross and he liked Clyde and he liked Riley but *he* wanted to be the face of the company. He wanted to be the top merchandise seller. He wanted to do the interviews with the local radio stations. He wanted to be known as the guy.</p><p> </p><p>

So he pushed himself faster when he hit the incline. Digging in deep. He was in the zone now. In the heat of the moment. Inhale. Exhale. Just a little bit farther. Just a little bit longer. He was close now. So close. He was on his own climb and he would reach the summit.</p>

<p>Really like the idea of sharing more world news in this universe. You’ve been at it long enough that the world around CWL is unique and interesting.</p><p> </p><p>

Solid Thanksgiving Thunder show with things leading up to the big year end Christmas Chaos. Hopefully the big mans knee injury isn’t too serious.</p><p> </p><p>

And as always you behind the scenes spotlights/perspectives of wrestlers are fun to read. Gives them character and makes them more interesting to root or jeer as you go on.</p>

His knee injury isn't too severe -- it's a minor sprain that he suffered back at Halloween Throwdown in the eightman. But with this being a singles match it really came into play here. He should be fine by the end of December.</p>
