B]Main Event[/b]

Singles Match

Sixty Minute Time Limit

World Heavyweight Championship

Matty Faith versus "The Boss" Ross Henry- Matty has been a good solider and his push is coming. I think it starts now and Ross's ultimate goal will still elude him, possible causing a heel turn for him.

Co-Main Event

Triple Threat

Sixty Minute Time Limit

North American Heavyweight Championship

Rick Law versus "The Hillbilly Hammer" Clyde Puder versus Torment © w/ Father Grim- Torment retains but by nefarious methods.

Grudge Match

Singles Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

"The Headhunter" Jeffery Aroma versus "The Supreme Star" Spencer Spade w/ Lisa Bowen- Spade could use the win and extending this feud a little longer will only be good for Aroma's eventual push.

Singles Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

North American Women's Championship

Nadia Snow versus Lauren

Easter ©- champ to retain

Tag Team Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

North American Women's Tag Team Championship

Alicia Strong & Brooke Tyler w/ Lisa Bowen versus Amber Allen & Jamie Quine ©- I don't think any of Bowen's people outside of Spade will be taking big wins with her being set up for leave, maybe have people get fed up with her after losing awhile and firing her to allow for the leave.

Singles Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

United States Championship

"The Latin Sensation" Leon Pena versus Ash Campbell © w/ Lisa Bowen- sticking to my reasoning from above and I'm rooting for Pena

Special Attraction

Singles Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

"The Cornerstone" Riley McManus versus "The Lucha Libre Legend" Champagne Lover- Cement Riley as a legend.

Tag Team Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

North American Tag Team Championship

American Muscle versus The Devil's Rejects © w/ February Malaise-The Rejects retain. Possibly by cheating to set up a rematch.

Triple Threat Match

Thirty Minute Time Limit

World Junior Heavyweight Championship

KC Glenn versus "The Butcher" Alexander Vasquez versus Konrad Makinen ©- KC is one of my top 3 favorite workers in the cverse and he could use a good run. At this point he must be flat out incredible in-ring wise so never a bad thing to let him pass out some skill improvements before his break.

Opening Match

Tag Team Match

Twenty Minute Time Limit

Yoder & Shaw versus Bowen Services (Valentine & Rush) w/ Lisa Bowen- this was a toss up for me but Yoder could use a little momentum.

Bonus

Who will be going into the Hall of Fame? All four inductees are male. All have held the North American Tag Team Championship.

1. KC

2.Logan Diaz

3.Raymond Diaz

4.need to go look at past champs and will edit if I have time before you post the show.

Nice to be able predict finally!

2023 Year End Awards and Hall of Fame Inductions!

The votes are in and we can officially announce the winners of the 2023 Year End Awards for the Continental Wrestling League

Male Wrestler of the Year

HXLpdxw.jpg

"The Cornerstone" Riley McManus

Riley McManus had his best year as a professional wrestler in 2023. He began the year by winning the New Year's Rumble and went on to defeat Spencer Spade at the Seventh Anniversary for the North American Heavyweight Championship in what was an instant classic of a match up. It was McManus' third reign as champion and he went on to have what is a benchmark reign as champion. Matches with Spencer Spade, Ash Campbell, and Hellion all achieved critical acclaim as the best matches in the company's history. Riley was able to reach #159 in the Power 500 rankings, the highest of his career. In the eight-year history of the CWL, there has not been an individual more integral to the success of the company. Riley received 72.3% of the votes.

Female Wrestler of the Year

GGqewCG.jpg

Alicia Strong

Alicia Strong began 2023 as the World Women's Champion. She ended the year losing the North American Women's Championship to Lauren Easter. She has continued to be the standard bearer for the women's division in Continental Wrestling League. Her #221 rank in the Power 500 was a drop from her 2021 rank, but she continued to have a very successful year. She received 75% of the votes.

Tag Team of the Year

y9l6Ubu.jpg2NhBQ8m.jpg

Homegrown

For the second straight year, Homegrown has taken home the Tag Team of the Year prize. It was a close battle with The Devil's Rejects and The Heartbreak Express pulling down sigficiant shares of the vote. Homegrown had a great early part of the year and a good feud with the Diaz Cousins before transitioning back into singles wrestling. With Yoder looking like he is teaming with Gabriel Shaw and Clyde Puder having won the New Year's Rumble, this might be the last year for awhile that Homegrown takes home this award.

Match of the Year

HXLpdxw.jpg2rRLoHs.jpgWIgT1ne.jpg

Riley McManus def Hellion at Fire in the Mountain VII

This was a very close race with all of the nominated matches getting significant votes. This match won by a margin of 3%. This was Riley's first singles match against one of the Fallen and it was sensational. Hellion was at a level the CWL had never seen him at before in his battle with the North American Heavyweight Champion and the North American Champion really brought his A game in this match.

Hall of Fame Inductees

6LhAn6l.jpg

"The Return of the Monster" James Diaz

At only 22 years old, Diaz is the youngest inducted member into the CWL Hall of Fame. There were some questions over whether he should be inducted this year, but with him signing a long-term contract with PGHW, it is unlikely that he will return to CWL in the foreseeable future. In his career with CWL, Diaz became the first Triple Crown Champion, winning the North American, United States, and Tag Team Championships. He is a three-time North American Tag Team Champion, holding it twice with his cousin Logan (who is also in the Hall of Fame) and once with his father Raymond. James also won the Gold Rush Tournament in 2021, held the World Six Man titles and the World Tag Team Titles.

j3Mq0eH.jpg

Greg Keith

Greg Keith won the 2022 Gold Rush Tournament, the Oxford Invitational with his brother Matthew, and the North American Tag Team Championship with his brother. He also won the GWC and COTT World Tag Team Titles with Matthew. Greg is the only man in history to have won the Rip Chord Invitational, Sam Keith Classic, Gold Rush, and Oxford Invitational tournaments. Greg brought a consistent level of professionalism to the CWL and was instrumental in raising the quality of matches that the CWL was producing.

LqKqiEK.jpg

Matthew Keith

Matthew won the Oxford Invitational, North American Tag Team, GWC World Tag Team, and COTT World Tag Team Championships alongside his brother Greg. He also ended up wrestling his brother Greg in the finals of the 2021 Gold Rush Tournament. Matthew, along with his brother Greg, helped raise the level of wrestling in the CWL and brought new eyeballs to the company. He was consistent and bankable and deserves to be in the CWL Hall of Fame.

pmgybRG.jpg

"The Bull of the Woods" Ox Mastadon

There are few men in professional wrestling who are as tough as the bull of the woods. Ox Mastadon won the North American Tag Team Championship alongside partner King Kong Kennedy. After Kennedy left the CWL, Ox went on to win the Gold Rush and have an eleven month reign as North American Heavyweight Champion -- the second longest reign in company history. The near 500 pounder was incredibly successful in his time at the top of the mountain and earned the right to not only call himself the Bull of the Woods but also a Hall of Famer.

MR: Hello and welcome to the Eighth Anniversary Special. We are coming to you live from the Connecticut Symphony Hall in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. I’m Michael Riggs and I’m joined in the broadcast booth by the legendary former World’s Champion, Ricky Dale Johnson. We want to thank each and every one of you for inviting us into your homes tonight.

RDJ: Michael, tonight is a night of celebrations. It is celebrating this same day in January of 2016, eight years ago, when the Continental Wrestling League -- then known as Rocky Mountain Wrestling, first opened its doors to the public. That show saw Jebediah become the first Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Champion. Tonight, Ross Henry and Matty Faith do battle for the vacant GWC World’s Heavyweight Title. My former running buddy Rick Law challenges the homegrown star of Clyde Puder and the reigning North American Heavyweight Champion Torment for the North American Heavyweight Champion and Riley McManus… The only man who has been employed for the entire length of the company steps into the ring tonight against the most famous wrestler in the world, the face of lucha libre, Champagne Lover. What a night. I can’t wait to get started.

<p>Hmm, it still feels strange, because Jakob Yoder initially always seemed like he was going to be a big deal in RMW, but the 5 years in RIPW made him miss his window so to speak and now he’s relegated to tag team specialist duties as the new wave of RMW/CWL graduates and signings fill in the top of the card.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Also unrelated but would you mind including the GWC Title histories in the front page as well please? I think it’s perfinent to CWL.</p>

<p>A lot of good interviews and storylines on multiple fronts. </p><p> </p><p>

Will the frustrated Matty Faith turn Heel, yes if he’s smart. There’s money and fame to join Bowen Services or maybe he is just another of......the Fallen. Could that be his future</p><p> </p><p>

Why should a guy the level of the Supreme Superstar Spencer Spade give another opportunity to Jeffery. What’s in it for him? Nothing</p><p> </p><p>

And then there is Clyde, the people don’t believe in him. He was right to leave, grab the money. If these “fans” can’t see that maybe they need a lesson in respect.</p><p> </p><p>

Like I said there is a lot going on.</p>

<p>I'm enjoying this story of Matty Faith being this "almost" guy. Makes him sympathetic and it makes the chase more interesting. I'll admit I've had enough of him and Ranger as the Mission, so if/once he wins a singles title it'll be an interesting payoff.</p><p> </p><p>

Puder's promo reminded me of TLCJR's comment about Yoder and how he missed his chance by signing elsewhere. I like how you're going with that story and it's also some solid ground if you ever want to turn him heel: embrace the greed and go for corporate Yoder. Not that I'm asking for it, I don't know what his heel performance is like, whether it suits your plans or if you even want to do that to a prized product of your dojo/company, but judging from the Riley McManus heel turn, I trust you to make it exciting should you ever choose to go down that way.</p>

Pistol Pete Hall comes to the ring and calls out Spencer Spade and Lisa Bowen. He wanted to do this in front of the fans. He wanted Spade and Bowen to know that while Spencer could turn down a singles match against Aroma -- they can’t turn down what Pete has in mind. It will be a four on four Steel Cage Warfare match. Bowen Services against Team Aroma. Bowen Services will be represented by Spencer Spade, Cameron Vessey, Casey Valentine, and Franklin Rush while Team Aroma will be Jeffery Aroma, Jakob Yoder, Gabriel Shaw, and Primus Allen.

Spade and Bowen were furious at this, but Pete took it one step forward. If Team Aroma wins, at Wrestling Summit IX, Jeffery Aroma will get a one on one match with Spencer Spade -- and Bowen Services will be on the line!

We are taken to a pretaped promo. The monster formally known as Killer Shark, now known as Torment, the North American Heavyweight Champion, is standing in the center of a room. Surrounding him are broken picture frames of all of the men who have fallen to his hands. He holds a photo of Clyde Puder. The sinister Father Grim is off to the side.

FG: So many have tried. So many have failed. So many believe that they are the chosen ones. The promised few. The ones who can stand up to the monster that I freed. Look at Torment. This is a free man. A man who is unshackled. When he was Killer Shark, he did not become what he has become. Since I uplifted him, he has risen to heights that were previously unattainable. Clyde. Allow me to do the same for you. Allow me to save you. Allow me to uplift you. You've already experienced what the promised land has to offer. The lies they tell. You bought those lies. You came back here a broken man and how did they treat you? Like you had foresaken them. I know the truth. You were lied to. Let me show you the way...Let me show you the way.

Not only do I think Team Aroma wins here to set up the big match, I think Bowen Services has run its course for now and the heels will be needed as solo acts with the recent depletion of top talent from the company.

Team Aroma [Jeffery Aroma, Primus Allen, Jakob Yoder, & Gabriel Shaw] versus Bowen Services [spencer Spade, Cameron Vessey, Casey Valentine, & Franklin Rush]

Clearly, this sets up another Spade vs Aroma match for the payoff and Lisa's off-screen maternity break

North American Heavyweight Championship

"The Hillbilly Hammer" Clyde Puder versus Torment © w/ Father Grim

Interesting tease of a heel turn, but I'm not taking the bait...yet

Ross Henry & Rick Law versus The Lucha Legends (Champagne Lover & Axxis Jr.)

Not sure if and how much in decline Axxis Jr. might be, but Lover probably wins here to look like a strong title competitor

Matty Faith versus "Hollywood" Bret Starr w/ Lisa Bowen

Matty probably needs the win here to stay relevant

North American Women's Championship

Queen Amazon versus Lauren Easter ©

I noticed she's been prominently featured and judging by the WWA diary, she has a good chance of winning the title here

North American Women's Tag Team Championship

Love Flame and was surprised to see Alina beat Strong, but that was probably to set up their loss here

United States Championship

If Lisa's banned, Leon's probably winning. Ash feels strong enough already to the point where he can go without the gold, time to build up a homegrown guy now

American Muscle versus The Devil's Rejects © w/ February Malaise

I will never root for American Muscle. Especially when they're up against the Rejects

GWC World Junior Heavyweight Championship

KC is great and probably deserves the win, but he can also live without it. Vasquez would lose all steam if he lost here

LB: Hello and welcome to the ninth annual installment of No Law or Order. We are coming to you live from the Connecticut Symphony Hall in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. I’m Lee Bambino and I’m joined in the broadcast booth by the legendary former World’s Champion, Ricky Dale Johnson. We want to thank each and every one of you for inviting us into your homes tonight.

RDJ: It’s great to be here, Lee. I’m fired up for tonight. Not only do we get to see the North American Heavyweight Championship defended between Clyde Puder and Torment, but we have a war in our main event. Eight men, one ring, one steel cage, submissions and knockouts are the only way to win. It’s going to be a war, it’s going to be something that people talk about for years to come.

Definitely didn't expect Torment to win clean.

I must be missing the plot here, Summit is in 3 weeks and the NA Champion has no match or even conceivable match that isn't a random rematch with no build against a guy with minimal momentum.

Puder vs Torment isn't really doable anymore since Puder just lost to the guy twice and now lost clean in not even 15 minutes.

I feel like we're pigeonhold into a random Matty Faith match or even worse a random match with someone like Primus Allen who has been dead in the water all year.

Guess I'll have to wait and see, maybe something big behind the scenes is brewing.
