Who are your softspot guys?

Who are guys that, for whatever reason, you just love? You hire them in save after save, but they never really deliver the way you'd like them to. For me, it's Regular Joe. He's a decent hand and can carry a match, but he is never going to be a main eventer. At best, he plays as the gatekeeper to the upper card. He kinda reminds me of a young Bob Casey (whoI also love).

Good in-ring stats for an unemployed female wrestler who's never had a steady job, BUT her Stamina and the likelihood of being in Time Decline are two big issues. Still, I'll higher her and keep her around for a little bit.</p>

<p>Obviously Jushin Liger, who I tend to cheat the game in order to have on the roster, and also Terry Funk, who's a recurring user character aswell.</p><p> </p><p>

In the CVerse, I've got a liking to Black Flash and Motoyuki Miyake, though so far I've failed to make either a really big star. SATO also comes to mind, but he's kind of a big name already.</p>

<p>I always have a soft spot for any of the GCG guys with loyalty to the company, so basically all the MEs except for Cox, with Toshiharu Hyobanshi always my top guy and my favourite CVerse wrestler.</p><p> </p><p>

Cameron Vessey, Seiji Jimbo, KitoGuchi, and Yoshinaka Taku are names I always try to pick up because those guys were always money for me in all of my saves.</p>

I tend to sign Hitomaro Suzuki and Morimoso Kato most of the time too when I can (although I missed out on Kato on my last game - so started again ).

 

Hitomaro Suzuki and Morimaso Kato should have had much better careers given how good they both are. If I ever play around with vanilla databases (and I do), I usually have to make them the top two names in a smaller promotion (and loyalists too).

<p>I only play Real World scenarios, and there are 2 guys I keep trying to push and they consistently loiter at mid-card.</p><p> </p><p>

First, is Brad Armstrong. I keep trying to recapture the vision Cornette had of his as a World Champion, but he never seems to get into a spot where it makes sense.</p><p> </p><p>

On the heel side, I have a soft spot for the Papa Shango gimmick and I always look to put Charles Wright in that role if I can. Ultimately, he always winds up playing second fiddle to Undertaker, Dustin Rhodes' "Se7en" character, etc...</p>

<p>The Gambler usually has the right cards. Very fond of him. I'm a bit of a poker mark and still do those poker games I mentioned in the what is going on in your game. </p><p> </p><p>

And we're all still wondering. What happened with Misty Blue that night in Milwaukee? Nah, not really. </p><p> </p><p>

But he has been in some good angles. One time he owed JR Ewing a lot of money. JR set him up. He brought in Phil Hellmuth for a heads up game with the Gambler. One of those 'just because I can' angles. This version of JR does have a soft side. Kind of like a Sonny Corleone code. He ended up rewarding The Gambler just because he ain't Cliff Barnes. And no, I'm not that far gone to include Cliff Barnes in my games. </p><p> </p><p>

Curt Hennig and Christopher Daniels. Hennig because, well, he's Mr Perfect. Daniels because I worked a few ROH shows he was at back in the early zeroes and you couldn't meet a nicer, humble and funny guy.

Atlas and Titan are definite soft spot guys. As is "Outlaw" Wes Revell. In my current diary, I'm hoping to get a lot of mileage out of the first two -- and some decent mileage from Wes.

<p>California Love Machine. Always sign him, depending on his role he be average, no better than a LMC/MC or he can end up being a Low end Main eventer, a plucky underdog guy that can be dropped into top a Main Event program and hold the title. </p><p> </p><p>

3/4 of the time he ends up being Midcard at best but on the odd occasion he's done very well... once even being the Jerry Lawler of California with 90 pop in the region. </p><p> </p><p>

Despite the fact he'll more than likely be Lowercard fodder I'll always have a place on any roster for him.</p>

<p>In the C-Verse, it's Cal Sanders, Chess Maniac, Davis Wayne Newton, El Hijo del Neutron, El Orgulloso, Brendan Idol, Regular Joe, Remmy Skye, Jack Griffith, Eve Grunge, Calvin Dark, Roy Edison and Bob Casey. Yes. It's a lot, and they usually make up my starter roster's in local-to-global saves. I can usually get Griffith or Skye over, but hardly ever any of the other ones, which sucks considering they're all very talented performers (aside from Calvin Dark, of course). I usually set up a womens division too for Eve, and hire Elsa Calvo, Helen Earth, and a few others from the independent scene. I really wish that the CornellVerse had more women on the independent scene. </p><p> </p><p>

In Real World mods? Uh.... </p><p>

Jimmy Havoc, Johnny Emminger, John Skyler, Elliot Sexton, Carly Colon, The Whisper, Buddy Murphy, Adam Page, Aiden English, Aaron Epic, Silvie Silver, Skylar, Taeler Hendrix and Scarlett Bordeaux. </p><p> </p><p>

I usually hire most of the same people in mods anyways so there's bound to be a lot <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Tom/Thomas Morgan in the CVerse. He turned into an A* machine for me way, way back in my first ever game with MAW on TEW07 and I like to pick him up where I can.</p><p> </p><p>

In that same game I hired the Gauge twins when they debuted, gave them a tag run, booked their split and randomly picked Matt to be the one to turn. He blew up and outgrew the company before going to Japan. In his absence, Greg matured and developed, MAW hit Cult with Greg as one of our stars and when Matt came back it was now Greg who was the better worker, more over and had the main event spot. Ever since then, Greg's been my favourite of the two. I couldn't justify giving him the main event push over Matt in my SWF game in '10, but on '13 he was my mainstay in my RTG game.</p>

Real World? Jordan Devlin. Not sure why, just always hire him.

Giant Brody. Never as a top guy but give him a manager to talk or a weasel-like/charismatic partner and I have so much fun creating a dynamic with him. I had a ton of fun when Honest Frank was declining but still obviously a hell of a promo and pairing those two together. Frank's a big guy too but man I had fun with that duo. They had the boon of good chemistry, rounded out Brody's performance and entertainment skills even a little and make a good foil for the Ring Generals.
