Kiheiji
Anyway, it's true that Cornellverse needs a drastic change. TCW has been virtually the same forever save for Tommy's departure. They're probably not going out of business since they now have a huge company backing them, but any hopes of surpassing USPW and SWF any time soon should be pretty much lost.

I REALLY hope Australia actually pops out some female wrestlers. It's gonna be 15 years since wrestling canonically 'took off' there, and you're telling me there's only one woman interested in becoming a wrestler in the entire continent? Actually, the women's wrestling scene could improve everywhere outside of America.

Japan needs to get out of MJM's strangehold.

USPW will probably make a deal with MAW to send their green muscleheads to work there.

India will obviously provide us with new workers, as well as new opportunity for pre-existing ones (maybe Melvin Otto will take off there!). More cultural diversity in the game world should suffice. There aren't that many non-Japanese Asian workers in the date, afaik.

Again, look around, we have 25 years of data after Benoit, the median bell-curve is starting at 20, noticed at 30, peak at 36-40, decline gracefully through your early 50s in some cases. I'm not saying this is true for absolutely everybody, alcoholism, massive injuries, high-work schedules for long periods, poor bumbing ability, car crashes, etc. Plenty of ways to cash out early. This is why top worker lists almost never have WWE guys on them anymore. They also run a tour schedule that taxes older guys more than it would anywhere else.

But I'll play along. Bobby Fish, Bobby Lashley, Bobby Roode(booking has screwed him, but he's much better than he was in TNA in his 30s), Cesaro and Ziggler have been broken mentally need to leave. Jeff Hardy(I'll spot you that this is mostly drug related), Matt Hardy(Matt had his best run as a wrestler post-40), "B+ Player" Kofi Kingston(steady improvement since joining New Day) Rowan(never any good, but much better post-35 than pre for sure) and the Miz(who is still drizzling shit, but is MILES better than he was) I would also argue Cena got better after 35 before switching to a part-time schedule to do other things.

I will agree though that with their 200 dates a year meatgrinder schedule, they shorten the life span of guys by a lot. Resiliency and raw athleticism will always decline after 30. But, if you get better, you actually need these things LESS as you get older because you take less bad bumps and need less flashy shit because you're better.

Oregano Jensen
Germaine's a ref with CZCW (and has been since 2003).

In my most recent saved game, he was hired as the CEO of TCW... granted, that's a saved game, not canon. But it makes sense, honestly, if BriCo decides to cash out -- or if they stick around and replace Rhodes. Germaine has the background and connections (on the West Coast, even!) to work on a corporate level, and he obviously loves wrestling.

Then again, Cliff Anderson is getting up there... he'll be 59 by the time the new save data kicks in. Germaine has over a decade of experience with CZCW, and everyone likes him, so he's a natural candidate for Cliff's successor. That's especially true if TCW falters and there's an opening for a workrate-based promotion in the US market...
MightyDavidson
I'm still hoping for new promotions in C-Verse 2020. Like one of those feds that open as time goes on actually being available to play from the start.
SuperHappyTime
It's a little morbid, but I'd like to see 16's "secret feature" come to pass. Maybe it hits a smaller national company, which then uses it to rally into an international player.
Sudo_Nym
I think we're due an overhaul of the universe. The C-Verse was designed originally for TEW2004, and all the major players are now 15 years older, and even the guys who were originally "young and upcoming talent" are now starting to age out. Almost every company has a main event scene that is over the hill. So I'm mostly hoping that we get a lot of those older guys retired, new main event scenes all over the place, and a broad new crop of young potentials. Especially in the non-American scenes, since I've frequently run into a wall trying to find enough young independent talent in Japan or Europe to start a new company. ChairToFace
Why does it seem like everyone believes TCW will crash and burn? I think they'll be surviving and thriving in 2020. Being owned by a big toy company will certainly give them money, plus it's easy to assume they take advantage of TV deals to make money. I've managed to make $5,000,000 as TCW by getting deals with USA Sports 1 and PPV-4-U, bringing back TCW Saturday Night Showcase.

I also think they'll take some people from a few companies, and even though they might lose some people, I doubt they'll lose their most important people. Plus, they've got a good backstage environment compared with SWF, and even though USPW has a lot more money, they also hire everyone they can and I feel like they'll succumb to the same things that killed WCW, plus all those big men in one place can only mean something is going on backstage to keep them wrestling as they get older.

With the loss of Cornell, you have to think that they are the odd man out. The SWF has the investigation over their heads but I highly doubt the C-Verse's only US National promotion will be USPW. Barring something massive to freshen up their brand, I can't see it getting better for TCW. As to the bigger guys lasting a long time, have you seen their match intensity and danger? Easy to have a long career with those kinda physical requirements. And the money and their willingness to spend it should help them steal talent from other places and push on.
Sudo_Nym
TCW is also the most "cultish" promotion in C-Verse America, since DAVE died. They're the workrate indy-darling promotion that has been on a slide ever since they stopped being HGC. That's sort of been the tale of TCW through the years- their roster has improved in terms of in-ring quality, but worsened in terms of actual draws, and they've always had money troubles, and they've lost their biggest star.

I wouldn't expect TCW to be gone, but I would expect that they've gone to Cult level instead of National. Either that, or they'll be the company that's made some sort of experimental change, like some of the new broadcasting mechanics or something.
Matt_Black
I think with the predictions about the C-Verse, particularly with TCW, a lot of people are forgetting that loyalty to companies is going to be more prevalent. Someone brought up in the TCW system is, most likely, less inclined to run to a big money offer from USPW.
Sudo_Nym
I don't think that's true, though; we've seen people jump companies all the time. Japan is the about the only place in the C-Verse where people have any loyalty to the companies that raised them up.
ChairToFace
I think that the thing affecting whether or not a person will stay with the company is their personality, with the bar for loyalty/mercenary affecting it. People like Steve Frehley are mercenaries, and will go to any company, while others like Wolf Hawkins I believe are listed as loyal.

Sudo_Nym
Word of God. The new dojo system means people outside of Japan can be loyal to companies. For the specific case of people trained at a promotion-owned training school, and signed by that promotion upon graduation. Far from a general maxim, and doesn't apply to the vast majority of main event talent in TEW2016. We'll see if it get retroactively applied to people like Wolf Hawkins, but more likely the first usage will people for the 21CW graduates.
