(Rockverse) AWO: Who says wrestling isn't high art?

Homer.jpg

George Masterson sits in thought ahead of AWO's one year anniversary show, trying to figure out what the feeling going through his body was.

Excitement? Maybe

Doubt? Hardly

Confusion? A possibility

Pride? Definitely

He had good reason to be proud, his dumb idea for a wrestling company that's more theater mixed with matches somehow, someway has not only survived their first year, but has consistently seen 300 people pack into the Wetson Gymnasuim to watch grown adults pretend to be Greek mythological characters and then play fight each other. Madness, utter madness. But at the end of the day George was proud at what he accomplished, proud at the rabid, cult like fanbase he had acquired and proud of his performers. The ones busting their asses in the hopes of that big break, the performers willing to put it all on the line for just a chance of glory. He was most proud of them.

Who says wrestling isn't high art

Masterson says to himself after downing his drink (scoth neat) as he looks at his booking sheet. This year is going to be bigger, badder and better than the year before. There is going to be bigger storylines, better matches (hopefully) and maybe they'll even turn a profit (fat chance). But most of all they'll enjoy it, they'll have fun and maybe, just maybe one of them will catch that big break.

This is AWO where wrestling is art.

AWO-Myths-Of-Creation.jpg

Live from the Wetson Gymnasuim AWO Presents Myths of Creation

Attendance: 300

Final Grade D-

Announce Team:

AthenaAthena.jpg ApolloApollo.jpg

The show opens with all 300 fans in the Wetson Gymnasuim being pointed to a large projected video on the stage which shows AWO's power couple OdysseusOdysseus.jpg and PenelopePenelope.jpg

stuck in the underworld. Loyal fans will remember that Odysseus was executed and sent to the Underworld by Cyclops at the behest of Artemis. They are shown traversing the many landscape of (the terribly CGI'd) Underworld trying their best not to get lost and to find Hades castle. Odysseus notices the camera (somehow) and speaks directly towards it.

"Ares, you have cost me and my beloved Penelope a lot, you have cost us our chance at freedom and an opportunity at vengeance. When you stuck your nose in my... our business, you made a powerful enemy. One who will not rest till your ass is made to pay the price. And once I'm done with you, and once I defeat your daddy. Cyclops, you will fall at my feet and you will suffer this wretched abyss they way we have. "

After that speech Odysseus and Penelope March onward, trying to find their way home.

AWO-Banner.jpg

We receive our first in ring segment of the night and it's the best way to start it.

The triumphant war drums are heard...

The horns of victory are blaring...

The trumpets of of conquest are blown...

And the powerful scream of SPARTANS can only mean one thing...

Kratos.jpg

KRATOS has arrived

The 300 fans in the Gymnasuim are making enough noise to be confused for 5000 and the familiar chant of "Who are you?" can be heard. The crowd don't stop the chant till KRATOS grabs the house mic

I AM KRATOOOOS!!

The crowd noise gets louder and reaches a fever pitch of fans losing their minds (one fan was allegedly frothing at the mouth in anticipation of a KRATOS promo) They silence themselves as is tradition to hear the words of wisdom which KRATOS is about to release.

THESE "GODS" THINK THAT THEY CHALLANGE KRATOS?! THEY MAKE KRATOS LAUGH! KRATOS DESTROYER OF GODS! KRATOS DESTROY THEM, KRATOS CRUSH THEM ALL! AND THEN KRATOS IS THE ONLY GOD LEFT

KRATOS leaves the ring as the rabid hoard of fans once again lose their mind and begin a KRATOS chant.

Kronos.jpgHermes.jpg

Chaos Theory (Kronos and Hermes) VS

Prometheus.jpgAtlas.jpg

Team Titans (Prometheus and Atlas)

Our first match of the evening was a true clash of the Titans (and Hermes) as Chaos Theory took on the reining AWO Epic Duo Team Titans. In a match that was basically ten minutes of Atlas and Prometheus taking turns beating down on Hermes before a tag to Kronos was made, where he was immediately pinned after a Scorched Earth giving the champs the victory.

RATING: E

Team Titans don't get to celebrate for very long though as they are jumped by

Agamemnon.jpgMenelaus.jpg

Agaememnon and Menelaus, The Conquerers

The Conquerers beat them down for a few minutes before running off, not before giving a longing look to the Epic Duo belts though.

AWO-Banner.jpg

We cut back to the Underworld, except this time we are in the throne room of a lavish castle. The camera pans to see a group of servants carrying bowls, plates and jugs. We then pan slowly up at a man sitting on a throne, slowly starting with his feet, then up his legs, then we see his face

Hades.jpg

It's Hades, the ruler of the Underworld.

Enjoying a fine plate of grapes. He is confronted by a woman

Artemis.jpg

Artemis

She asks him where his son Ares is and he tilts his head to his war room. Artemis enters the war room and begins to have a conversation with

Ares.jpg

Ares

Artemis and he proceed to have a heated conversation about Odysseus and the message he sent earlier. Artemis is displeased with the fact that Odysseus isn't out of her hair for good, Ares is disappointed in her lack of faith in him. This trivial argument goes on for another five minutes before Hades steps in and reminds them that unless something is done, Odysseus can still earn his three wins and challenge Hades for his freedom.

AWO-Banner.jpg

Hades.jpg

HADES

VSHeracles.jpg

HERACLES

The second match of the evening is between Hades and Heracles and much like the first is a glorified squash match with Hades picking up the win in under 9 minutes with the Crossing River Styx

RATING: E-

AWO-Banner.jpg

Kratos.jpgKRATOS

VSHyperion.jpg Hyperion

The third match of the evening was nothing more than a 4 minute long decimation of Hyperion while the fans screamed and cheered for every chinlock and bodyslam KRATOS used before ending the match with the Decimation

RATING: F+

AWO-Banner.jpg

Zeus.jpg

The King of the God's and (more impressively) current AWO Epic Hero Zeus enters the ring and grabs the house mic. He taunts Artemis calling her a coward and promises that he will not only crush her monsters, but anyone who wants to make an enemy of him

AWO-Banner.jpg

Zeus.jpg

ZUES

VS

Cyclops.jpgArtemis.jpgMinotaur.jpg

Cyclops w/Artemis and Minotaur

The final match of the evening was the current Epic Hero Zeus taking on Cyclops. In what was a relatively open affair with Cyclops giving nearly as much as he got (thanks to timely interference by Minotaur and Artemis) the solid 13 minute affair saw a decent amount of action. The match ended with Zeus performing his trademark comeback and finishing the match with the Thunder Bomb for the pin.

Rating: E

Zeus' celebration is sadly cut short after the Minotaur slid in and beat him with his hoove chains while Artemis barked orders. And the show would end with The Beasts From The East and Artemis posing over a fallen Zeus.

AWO-Dark-Ages.jpg

Live from the Wetson Gymnasuim

AWO Presents Dark Ages

Attendance: 300

Final Grade: E+

The show opens with everyone being pointed to the projection screen as we get a shot of a mountain. The camera pans up from the base of this magnificent piece of stone and follows a pair of sandled feet up the amazing marble stairs as the weather seems to change from spring sun to icey snow to a magnificent tropical mix of trees and rivers. The mood changes however as we get a shot of a desolate and destroyed city and we get a good shot of the man we've been following, Zeus.

Zeus.jpg

Zeus walks up to the destroyed gates of the city with a look of rage and sadness on his face and he picks up a formally magnificent piece of golden signage with the word "Olympus" written on it..

Zeus looks up obviously enraged as his eyes become a piercing blue with sparks coming out as lighting strikes the city. He begins to repeatedly scream Artemis' name over and over and the screen goes black on one last scream of Artemis' name.

Heracles.jpgHyperion.jpg

Power & Glory vs

Hermes.jpgKronos.jpg

Chaos Theory

Our first match of the evening sees the team of Hyperion and Heracles go up against Kronos and Hermes. A standard tag match with Kronos and Heracles working the bulk of the match before a mistaken tag to Hermes allowed Hyperion and Heracles to quickly put him away as a dissatisfied Kronos watched on.

Hades.jpg

Our next segment takes place in the underworld as Hades can be seen enjoying taking one sip of a beer (Heineken (not sponsored)) and throwing the bottle away before opening another one, rinse and repeat.

Ares.jpgBuck-Evans.jpg

He is the welcomed by Ares and a massive monster that is being led on a leash by Ares who claims that he's found someone to take care of their Odysseus problem. Hades begins to laugh as a sing of approval and sends the Giant to take care of Odysseus. As the Giant leaves he commends Ares on a well thought out plan and Ares replies: “He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces.” “He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks.” “Hence the saying: If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles."

Hades obviously taken aback tells his son to clean the bear bottles of the floor as he leaves.

Agamemnon.jpgMenelaus.jpgAtlas.jpgPrometheus.jpg

Our next segment sees The Conquerers and Team Titans continue a brawl that's somehow spilled to the ringside area. After a few minutes of brawling The Conquerers retreat like the coward they are.

AWO-Banner.jpg

It's that time again as

The triumphant war drums are heard...

The horns of victory are blaring...

The trumpets of of conquest are blown...

And the powerful scream of SPARTANS can only mean one thing...

Kratos.jpg

KRATOS is here to bless us with his words of wisdom once again.

KRATOS enters the ring to a massive amount of fanfare as the crowd chant his name and one overzealous fan throws her panties at KRATOS (yes women attend the shows). He soaks in the admiration from the crowd as the house mic drops from the ceiling and KRATOS begins to speak.

KRATOS come out and challenge puny gods. They all come out and accept. Puny gods all fall at KRATOS' feet. They all fall. KRATOS stands tall as the EPIC HERO.

The crowd lose their mind at that declaration as KRATOS has officially made his intentions on challenging Zeus known.

AWO-Banner.jpg

Odysseus.jpgPenelope.jpg

We are once again transported to the Underworld as Odysseus and his lovely wife Penelope are seen walking along a river of blood.

Buck-Evans.jpg

They are however blocked from passing as the Giant from earlier confronts them. Odysseus insticktively puts Penelope behind his back and demands to know what the Giant wants.

The Giant shoots him a sinister smirk and replies with one work: "Kill". Odysseus ready's his fist and a red jumps out of the river (why he was there no one knows) and a match begins.

Underworld Giant vs

Odysseus.jpgPenelope.jpg

Odysseus w/Penelope

The matche begins red hot at Odysseus and the Giant trade massive clubbing blows before the Giant gets the upper hand and takes control. Odysseus is eventually able to being his comeback and wins in after 8 minutes of hard hitting action.

Artemis.jpgCyclops.jpgMinotaur.jpg

Artemis rolls down to the ring along with the Beasts From The East for Minotaur's match against Poseidon. Before the match begins however Artemis takes a moment to discuss battle strategies and plans for taking down Zeus (out in the open, where everyone can her for some reason) and tells them that failure is not an option.

Poseidon

Our main event of the evening consisted of Minotaur taking on Poseidon. The match was surprisingly even for the first 6 minutes before the full blown cheating from Artemis and Cyclops occurs and the match ends after 8 minutes after Minotaur choked out Poseidon with his hoove chains and pinned him with one hoove on his chest.

Zeus quickly cleans house and runs off Artemis' monsters. Zeus grabs a mic and puts his title as Epic Hero on the line against both members of the Beasts From The East. Artemis accepts the challenge.

Before the show ends we get one final segment once again in the Underworld as Odysseus and Penelope are seen outside the gate of Hades castle. With a determined look on their faces they open the gate and when the gate is halfway open the screen fades to black with world appearing.

Odysseus.jpgPenelope.jpg

Continuing on from the cliffhanger ending of the last show Odysseus and Penelope open the gates to Hades' castle only to be confronted by another Underworld Giant.

The Giant snarls at Odysseus and looks ready to rip his head off, however Odysseus is prepared and kicks him straight in balls. Surprising the Giant no sells it and goes on the attack as an official shows up to start a match.

Underworld Giant vs Odysseus w/Penelope

Odysseus seemed to be a house of fire in this match and just threw everything he had at the giant not giving him an inch and clubbing away all match. The problem? The Giant just shook everything off and with Odysseus dodging every attack the Giant tried the match seemed to be going to a standstill after 8 minutes. However Penelope made the difference as she threw Odysseus a rusty spike and distracted the Giant long enough for Odysseus to drive it through the Giant's chest for the knock out win.

Artemis.jpg

Everyone's least favorite woman comes out as Artemis arrives next to a chorus of boos from the audience. Artemis is surprisingly not accompanied by her Beasts From The East as she stands alone in the center of the ring and grabs the housemic. Artemis does an intense promo explaining how Zeus has hurt everyone who dares come close to him or shows him any affection. How Zeus is a traitor and cares only about himself, how he does not deserve the adulation that the people give him nor does he deserve to be Epic Hero. Artemis claimes that walking into his match at The Olympiad he has made a grave mistake, it's not that he challenged both of her monsters, it's not that he gave them 2 months to prepare, it's not even that he's made an enemy out of her ally Hades. It's that he's overlooked her most dangerous weapon, herself. He has overlooked Artemis as a threat, he has overlooked her willingness to succeed and that she will stop at nothing to make sure that Zeus loses his crown as Epic Hero and that he rots in the Underworld forever.

Power & Glory

Our second contest of the evening was a simple tag match designed to get the challengers some momentum. With Hyperion playing the babyface before Heracles made the hot tag and took it to the Conquerers before mistakingly tagging into Hyperion who ran into a Raize The City to give the Conquerers the win in under 7 minutes.

The Conquerers grab the house mic and taunt Team Titans calling them washed up and has beans as well as claiming that they are the future of AWO. After seemingly drawing no reaction they decided to perform a skit mocking Team Titans who eventually ran out and chased them around the arena.

Prometheus.jpgAtlas.jpg

Team Titans grabbed the house mic and declared that their match next month will be for the Epic Duo championship.

KRATOS is here!

KRATOS grabs the house mic and soaks in the ovation from the audience. Banging his head to the tune of the fans chants of "Who are you?" . KRATOS grabs begins his promo.

GODS OF OLD AND NEW FIGHT FOR PRIDE! KRATOS FIGHTS FOR POWER! THERE ARE NO FRIENDS ONLY ENEMIES FOR KRATOS TO SLAY. THEY WILL ALL FALL TO THE TRUE GOD OF WAR! .

Poseidon.jpg

Surprisingly KRATOS is interrupted by Poseidon of all people who grabs the mic and rips into KRATOS. He brings up the fact that there is no character in Greek myth named KRATOS and that he's just some idiot dressed in body paint. He also states that Kratos is the Greek word for state, he's no God just a buffoon. KRATOS has grown noticibly angry and grabs the mic and screems: LIES! I AM KRATOS! He proceeds to punch Poseidon in the face and grab the referee by his collar and throws him into the ring and demands that a match begins.

Zeus.jpg

AWO's Epic Hero arrives on a golden chariat pulled by a group of hot leggy blondes. As Zeus gets in the ring he dismisses Artemis' earlier claims and promises that he has always been a fair and impartial judge of character and deserves his standing as Epic Hero of AWO. He then proceeds to send a message to all his opponents.

Beasts From The East be wary, The Epic Hero, The King Of God's is not afraid of mere monsters and he's coming for you.And when you fall, you will have to enjoy the rest of your life knowing that you could never defeat Zeus. Enjoy the Underworld.

We're once again taken to the Underworld as Odysseus and Penelope are finally able to enter the castle. As they open the door they are confronted by Hades and Ares.

Hades.jpgAres.jpg

Hades, who is nonchalantly sipping in a martini (stirred not shaken, obviously), congratulates Odysseus in making it this far, however he is still one win short of challenging him for his freedom. His final opponent is Ares!

Almost on que Ares strikes Odysseus across the skull with a dinner platter and begins to rain fists down on Odysseus. The official begins the match.

With Odysseus still reeling from his earlier match and the attack by Ares he was worked over and barely able to mount any offense. Ares seemed to have the match won so decided to gloat a bit, by gyrating in front of Penelope.

Penelope, a married woman, decided that the best retort would be a swift kick in Ares' little warriors allowing Odysseus to roll him up for the win in 7 minutes.

After the show...

Homer.jpg

George Masterson was sitting backstage after the show enjoying the quiet in his office with a bottle of scotch and the favorable reviews the show received from a wrestling publications and websites who reviewed them, well except for Racket Talk but that guys an ass hat and no one wants his approval anyway. George thought nothing could spoil his mood until he heard the commotion being made in the locker room.

Kratos.jpgPoseidon.jpg

As he made his way into the dressing rooms he was shocked to find Kratos in full gear beating down on Poseidon (who was out of costume and in street clothes).

G: Kratos what the hell is wrong with you.

K: Poseidon make fun of Kratos, he call him an idiot he deserves beat down.

G: He was just following the script, you know that right he didn't really call you an idiot. And he's names not really Poseidon, you aren't Kratos either.

Kratos seeming took offense to this and grabbed Masterson by his shirt and held him up against the wall. The locker room looked like they were about to pull him back, but the looks in their eyes showed that they were too afraid to get in Kratos' way. Kratos snarled in Mastersons face and screamed at the top of his lungs

LIES! I AM KRATOS! .

He swiftly left the Gymnasuim seemingly one the way home, wherever that is. Nikos, who plays Heracles, helped Masterson up on the floor and stated that Kratos was obviously a lunatic and he has no idea why he's employed. Masterson, clearly stressed and scared, told Nikos that if he wants to, he can tell Kratos that he's fired. Nikos slowly backed away as Masterson returned to his office, that scotch looking more appealing now than it ever had before.

AWO-The-Olympiad.jpg

Live from the Wetson Gymnasuim

AWO Presents: The Olympiad II

FINAL GRADE: E

Odysseus.jpgPenelope.jpgAres.jpg

The show opens with the audience once again pointing to the black screen with Odysseus atop a prone and seemingly knocked out Ares. He lands one swift blow to the back of his head and has a look of victory on his face. He obviously got the better of Ares after the show ended last time.

Hades.jpg

Hades slowly gets off his thrown with a smirk on his face, simply radiating confidence. Hades feigns shock that Odysseus was able to defeat his son. He claps his hand twice and a ring appears between them out of thin air. He climbs in and motions Odysseus to do the same. Odysseus wearily climbs in and tells Penelope to stay back. Hades says that leaving the "wench" out of this was for the better and snaps his fingers as a cage drops onto the ring, with a Key atop one corner.

THE ESCAPE FROM THE UNDERWORLD MATCH HAS BEGUN.

Escape From The Underworld Match

Hades.jpgOdysseus.jpg

Hades vs. Odysseus

It is finally time, after months of chasing and challenges Odysseus finally gets his rematch at Hades and a chance to return home. The match quickly devolved into a wild brawl with both Odysseus and Hades using the cage to their advantage and it wasn't long before Odysseus was oozing blood from his skull. Odysseus put in a sterling effort, but Hades had him matched and a well placed fireball to the face allowed him to climb up the cage and grab the key. Hades arrogance however was his downfall as he took his sweet time to exit the cage, which allowed Penelope to ram the cage door into his face multiple times. Odysseus was then able to hit him witha a massive Powerbomb into the cage and grab the key and win the match to massive applause from the audience.

Odysseus collapse outside of the cage due to exhaustion as the crowd cheer. The cage is raised and beaten down Hades rolls to the outside. Penelope falls to the crowd with tears streaming down her eyes and clutches Odysseus' head and lifts it upto her lap. They say nothing and just stare at each other with looks of pure joy in their eyes. Odysseus mouths "We're going home", to which Penelope nods and they embrace in a long, affectionate kiss as the screen goes to black.

Zeus.jpg

Zeus arrives and appears on the ramp he raises on hand and lighting strikes the ramp. The arena goes dark and a mic descends from the heaven with a flashing light pointed at.

Artemis you and your cohorts, no not cohorts, beasts, no not beast, monsters. You and your monsters

tried to hurt me, not just hurt me, damage me, not just that destroy me, physically and mentally. But tonight I get vengeance. Tonight I end this nonsense. Tonight Idestroy you. Penelope you thought you had this planned out, but you never planned forthe true power of the Epic Hero, The King Of The Gods, The Almighty Zues!

Lighting strikes the ramp again and Zeus is gone, as the light has returned to the arena.

Team Titans vs. The Conquerers

The long running fued between these teams came to ahead tonight as they fought for the right to be called the Epic Duo of AWO. The match was fairly even but it was obvious that in a 2 on 2 situation The Conquerers had no way of winning. They decided to isolated Prometheus which worked until Atlas got back in the thick of things and the Titans had control. The Conquerers seemed to know they had no chance of winning as they grabbed the belts and layed out the champions for a DQ loss.

As his tradition after a championship match the losers stand in the middle of the ring to receive judgement from Hades as the whether or not they go to the underworld. He raises his hand and holds his thumb sideways and gauges the audiences reaction. It's an overwhelming yes to send them to the depths of damnation, but Team Titans try to get the crowd to change their minds, they want to beat them fair and square. The crowd do change their opinions and Hades drops his thumb down, to signal that The Conquerers will stay alive to fight another day.

Once again the crowd loses their minds as the wild man circles the ring. He enters and uses his chain blades to perform a sword dancing routine, because why not I guess. He grabs the mic and does a generic KRATOS promo. The crowd loves it though

Before our main event begins Artemis grabs a microphone as her colossal cohorts stand behind her.

Tonight is the night that Zeus pays for his sins. Tonight he will be held accountable for his actions and tonight your hero will fall. A man you worship, a man you praise, a man you see as a hero and a man who deserves none of it. He is a vile, vindictive, murderous, misogynistic monster who killed his way to the top and named himself king. A title he does not deserve. And tonight this false king will fall and lose his crown. And tonight I will have the power of the Epic Hero and will be a ruler the people deserve. Because Zeus tonight after you pay for your sins, you will know what it feels like to have to bow down to someone you hate. The AWO will finally be free of your tyranny and have a ruler they can be proud of, Artemis The Huntress.

The main event of the evening was the Handicap match with Zeus putting his title as Epic Hero on the line against both of Artemis' mammoths of massacre. The match was open as Zeus tried his best to keep himself from being dismantled and he held his own against both men. Luckily Zeus was able to outwit and outpace them which is what led to victory as he sidestepped a chain shot from Minotaur that ended up hitting Cyclops and allowed Zeus to hit the Thunder Bomb on Minotaur for the victory.

The lights came back on and Zeus was laying prone and unconscious in the middle of the ring as four men stood around his body. Eris picked up a mic and stood in front of them and announced them all as Loki, Baldur, Jotuun and Troll. They are the Einherjar and they are here to take over.
