No man was ever able to hit one of their trademark finishing moves through the match as the Higashimurayama crowd - perhaps slightly disappointed by the lack of a decisive victor in this one - broke out in applause at each man's abilities at the conclusion of this 30-minute bout.</em></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>RATING: </strong></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#008080;"><strong>80</strong></span></span></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span></p><p> </div></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>____________________________________________</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46953" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Jaded: 3/5</strong><p><strong> siah463: 3/5</strong></p><p> BHK1978: 3/5</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jaded" data-cite="Jaded" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46953" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Same here; I definitely wouldn’t take my lack of success at predictions as a negative towards your booking!</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="piperrulz" data-cite="piperrulz" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46953" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Just started reading this. In a good opening match, Shiro Koshinaka, George Takano and Shinji Sasazaki defeated Kazuo Yamazaki, Mitsuo Momota and Toshiaki Kawada in 9:13 when Shiro Koshinaka defeated Mitsuo Momota by pinfall with a Hip Attack.

Each man was able to get in their fair share of offense, but ultimately the side led by Koshinaka was able to gain an advantage athletically through the middle of the match. Pretty decent match to kick off the show.

In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Ashura Hara, Tarzan Goto and Umanosuke Ueda defeated Kodo Fuyuki, Masanobu Fuchi and Motoshi Okuma in 13:20 when Umanosuke Ueda defeated Motoshi Okuma by pinfall after using a foreign object.

Fuyuki and Fuchi led their side to hold the advantage through a majority of the match, however, the introduction of a chain from the outside by Ueda quickly evened the match back up and reversed his side's fortunes. Though it disappeared through the second half of the match, the chain re-appeared towards the very end of the bout as it was blasted off Okuma's forehead as Ueda then quickly pinned the brawler for the win.

RATING: 68

**POST-MATCH**

The assault on Okuma continues with Ueda continuing to whip his chain across the downed Okuma's back. After getting some time to recover, Okuma began to make his way to his feet, but he was quickly brought back down to the ground once again by a running chain-wrapped fist to the forehead. Ueda then picked up Okuma and was prepared to choke him out with the chain until...

GSIlvuE.jpg?1

Genichiro Tenryu ran out from the back to make the save! Carrying a steel chair in hand already, Tenryu's mere presence in the ring caused Ueda to quickly exit the ring and bolt through the crowd to escape his returning rival. With Ueda chased off, Tenryu helped Okuma to his feet before helping him off to the back.

In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Akio Sato and Takashi Ishikawa defeated The Great Kabuki and Magic Dragon in 14:26 when Takashi Ishikawa defeated Magic Dragon by submission with a Scorpion Death Lock.

Kabuki and Magic Dragon made it a point to target Sato's wounded thigh as Sato was shown to be favoring it right out of the starting gate. With the disadvantage of his injury allowing the challengers to gain control of the match through its early stages, Ishikawa eventually tagged in and started to take the fight back towards the challengers. Ishikawa was able to take advantage of bad positioning by Magic Dragon as he ducked a Poison Mist shot from Kabuki - whose mist blinded Dragon instead. After kicking Kabuki off the apron, Ishikawa took advantage of the situation by locking Dragon in a Scorpion Death Lock and making him submit for the successful title defense.

In an exceptional match, Stan Hansen defeated Mitsuharu Misawa in 28:55 by pinfall with a Western Lariat.

Misawa took plenty of notes following this time limit draw with Hansen in the final tag match before the Excite Series's concluding night - pushing Hansen to his limit throughout the match. Hansen clearly wasn't taking this challenge lightly, as his usual aloof attitude towards the youngsters he faced was completely absent through the match. Each hold or strikes Hansen attempted to throw, Misawa had an effective counter for. The match appeared destined to go towards another time limit draw, but Hansen just managed to down Misawa with a surprise Western Lariat after Misawa attempted to send a message and land a second Running Elbow in a row. Misawa could have simply gone for the pin after landing the first one, but perhaps his appetite for sending a message transcended common sense at the time. He can only take notes from this and move on.

In a solid match, Jumbo Tsuruta defeated Tiger Jeet Singh in 12:22 by pinfall with a Backdrop Suplex.

Singh immediately got the match underway with some cheap tactics with a thumb to the eyes of the NWA United National Champion. In control of the match for its first half, Singh appeared to underestimate the sheer power of Tsuruta as the champion threw him to the ground and started to take over just past the halfway point of the match. Singh tried to even the odds with a low blow, but he was caught by Tsuruta and planted into the ground with a Backdrop Suplex to complete yet another successful title defense for the champ.

In a great match, Giant Baba defeated Atsushi Onita in 23:55 by pinfall with a Big Boot.

Onita actually stayed on his best behavior in the beginning of the match as he tried to keep his efforts clean against Baba. Specifically targeting the legs, Onita kept attacking the side and back of Baba's knee to soon enough bring him to the ground. Baba was able to adjust his strategy at this and made sure to drop Onita with quick heavy-handed strikes at each opportunity he had when both men were standing. This style of fighting continued on until Onita became visibly frustrated and retreated to the outside and recover for a bit. Onita glanced over at a steel chair set up at ringside as those in attendance who noticed this began to boo him. Onita refrained from using the foreign object as instead he returned to the ring to try and beat Baba with his agility instead. The size disparity proved to be advantageous for Onita for awhile with him being able to out-maneuver Baba, but ultimately a Big Boot would be his downfall shortly before the 25-minute mark.

RATING: 79

**POST-MATCH**

After getting his arm raised by Kyohei Wada following his victory, Baba waited for Onita to get to his feet. Once the AJPW Dojo graduate did recover and was standing on his own power, Baba extended a hand forward to offer the young man a handshake. Onita merely stared at Baba for a little bit, but instead chose to drop down and roll under the bottom rope before heading straight to the back.

In an exceptional match, Harley Race defeated Chavo Guerrero in 26:54 by pinfall with a Piledriver.

Guerrero held his own throughout Race, something that didn't appear to take Race by surprise whatsoever. The champion entered the match fully recognizing Guerrero's capabilities and thus he didn't allow himself to stay down for long once Guerrero began to get on a roll. The challenger appeared to have to done his homework on Race as well as he was able to keep up the pace with the ring veteran. Guerrero nearly ended the match just past the 15-minute mark as he managed to get himself and Race standing on the ring apron where he attempted to hit a German Suplex on the apron, but Race just managed to escape the maneuver. Race in turn tried to hit a Piledriver on the apron, but Guerrero managed to kick himself out of the hold as instead he arm dragged Race to the outside mat. Guerrero tried his best to capitalize through the remainder of the match, but Race's resilience simply wouldn't allow him to be beat. Finally getting his Piledriver to connect just shy of the 27-minute mark, Race pinned Guerrero to cement his status as the PWF World Heavyweight Champion entering the Champion Carnival.

**Harley Race makes defence number 25 of his PWF World Heavyweight title.**

Just pop in to say: I really like your dynasty. I'm not familiar with AJPW in '83, but i like it. I'm kinda jealous about your idea with the time limits above the wrestlers and your japanese fonts :p

Thank you! I was racking my brain trying to figure out a neat little graphic touch to the writeups, and that's what I came up. Japanese fonts are rather basic though - I might mix them up a bit the further I progress into this.

In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Masanobu Fuchi [2] defeated The Great Kabuki [0] in 15:06 by submission with a Joint Torture Hold.

Fuchi was able to keep Kabuki grounded through a majority of the match, but Kabuki would continuously find ways to power his way back to the feet. Fuchi ducked a Poison Mist attempt by Kabuki andwas able to ground the painted wrestler and submit him with his trademark hold just past the halfway point of the time limit.

In a solid match with great action and great heat, Jumbo Tsuruta [2] defeated Chavo Guerrero [0] in 16:14 by pinfall with a Backdrop Suplex.

Guerrero got the match off to a quick start, but, unfortunately for him that may have been his downfall. Using up most of his energy in the early portions of the match, Tsuruta was eventually able to catch up to his pace and wear down his opponent with a variety of slams. As resilient as his opponent was through the match, the NWA United National Champion ultimately put him down with a high-angle Backdrop Suplex for the night one victory.

In an exceptional match, Stan Hansen [2] defeated Atsushi Onita [0] in 19:41 by pinfall with a Western Lariat.

Similar to his match against Giant Baba at Excite Series, Onita stuck to a cleaner style of wrestling against Hansen. This likely turned out to be a bit of a baffling strategy to Onita himself as he was quickly put on the defense by Hansen. While he was able to nearly go 20 minutes against the Texan, Onita was put down with a rough Western Lariat for the loss in his opening match.

In a great match with excellent wrestling and great heat, Terry Funk [2] defeated Harley Race [0] in 25:43 by pinfall with a Piledriver.

Funk and the PWF World Heavyweight Champion each had an effective counter for the other's attempts at offense through the match with neither man able to gain an advantage in the early portions of the match. A missing charging elbow into the corner by Funk proved to be the opening Harley Race needed however as Race then focused on keeping Funk grounded. Funk was able to escape after awhile and started to take the fight back to Race with a standing striking contest. Race cut off Funk's attack and brought him back to the ground again where he once again tried to wear one half of the NWA International Tag Team Champions down. A rope break brought the match back to even again where a shock DDT from Funk nearly brought him the victory just after the 20-minute mark. In the closing minute of the match, both Funk and Race went back and forth trying to drop the other on their head with a Piledriver, but it was Funk to prevail in that contest as he opened his Champion Carnival with a victory over the PWF World Heavyweight Champion.

In an exceptional match, Genichiro Tenryu [2] defeated Ashura Hara [0] in 13:29 by pinfall with a Powerbomb.

In his return to in-ring action, Tenryu was in control through the duration of the match, but Hara's pure resilience kept him in the contest past the 10-minute mark. That resilience would only take him so far though as he was on the receiving end of a Powerbomb after the 13-minute mark.

In an exceptional match, Umanosuke Ueda [2] defeated Mitsuharu Misawa [0] in 15:16 by submission after a roll-up following a low blow.

Misawa tried to right his momentum from his loss to Hansen at Excite Series by staying on offense through his opening Champion Carnival match - a feat he managed to accomplish. Misawa continued to stay on the attack through the match but just couldn't find enough to put Ueda down. Ueda was able to get in some offense of his own at times but was never able to make enough to fully grab control of the match. With Kyohei Wada distracted late, Ueda was able to nail Misawa with a quick shot below the belt and then rolled him up for the unpopular victory.

In a match with outstanding heat and great wrestling, Giant Baba [2] defeated Tiger Jeet Singh [0] in 10:42 by pinfall with a Big Boot.

Singh took the attack to Baba's legs from the ringing of the bell, however, he was quickly brought to the ground with a series of overhead chops from the giant. It didn't take long for Baba to start building up his momentum as he eventually whipped Singh into the ropes and dropped him with a Big Boot for the quick win.

In a solid match, Dory Funk Jr. [2] defeated Kodo Fuyuki [0] in 23:54 by submission with a Texas Cloverleaf.

Funk tried to make the match a technical one from the get go with various standing holds to slow the younger Fuyuki down. Fuyuki's powerhouse of a frame allowed him to escape though and in turn impress his elder with some submission-based holds of his own. Fuyuki soon realized his strength was going to be in turning the match into a brawl as he started to hammer into Funk with a barrage of overhead forearms and various standing clotheslines. Funk would keep finding ways to escape once on the ground though as he'd just manage to be nimble enough to escape his opponent. Nearly getting a three-count with a running powerslam, Fuyuki tried to finish the match with a Fuyuki Special II, but was never able to get it locked in on the tag team champion. Funk was soon able to counter though as he swept the legs of Fuyuki and locked in a Texas Cloverleaf of his own. Fuyuki was close to escaping on multiple occasions, but he finally had to verbally submit to the submission.

Tsuruta began to brutalize Onita with his sheer strength and finally summoned enough strength to drop Onita with a Backdrop Suplex for the victory.</em></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>RATING: </strong></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#00FF00;"><strong>87</strong></span></span></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span></p><p> </div></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#C0C0C0;"><strong><em>Main Event</em></strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <div style="background-color:#ffffff;color:red;border-style:solid;border-width:5px";"></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>'Champion Carnival </strong></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong><em>'A Block'</em></strong></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong> Match'</strong></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Stan Hansen [2] vs. Terry Funk [2]</strong></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><em>30-minute time limit</em></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><img alt="5YyYtkd.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/5YyYtkd.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><img alt="eiPb7Zl.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/eiPb7Zl.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="A3LkYJG.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/A3LkYJG.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ZZHzfkU.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZZHzfkU.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span></p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46953" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#000000;"><em>In a great match, </em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><em><strong>Stan Hansen [4]</strong></em></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em> defeated</em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><em><strong> Terry Funk [2]</strong></em></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em> in 26:39 by pinfall with a Western Lariat.</em></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"><em> Funk tried to keep the match at a slower pace to try and wear down the larger Hansen, but Hansen ensured to keep the match standing to keep laying into his fellow American with strikes and bodyslams. Funk managed to draw Hansen into the corner early in the match as a quick thumb to the eye opened Hansen up to receive some strikes to the abdomen. From there, Funk tried to wear down Hansen with an abdominal stretch. Hansen was able to eventually power out of the hold and took Funk down with a running knee to the chin that nearly put down Funk for the three count. The tag team champion retreated to the outside and successfully was able to draw Hansen out - throwing him into the ringside barrier once he got Hansen within his grasp. </em></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"><em> Funk attempted to capitalize on Hansen's battered ribs with another abdominal stretch late into the match, but Hansen once again was able to power away. A swinging attempt at a Western Lariat was ducked by Funk who locked Hansen into the abdominal stretch yet again. Hansen nearly submitted to the hold but managed to power out of it yet again as he then downed Funk with a standing forearm. Waiting to pounce, Hansen charged out of the corner for another Lariat attempt, but Funk trapped him in a DDT and nearly got a three count for his effort. Funk then attempted to follow up with a Piledriver, but Hansen kicked himself out of the position as he then dropped Funk with a DDT of his own. Once Funk got to his feet, Hansen followed up and connected with the Western Lariat for the win to stay perfect in the tournament.</em></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>RATING: </strong></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="color:#008000;"><strong>76</strong></span></span></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p><span style="color:#000000;"> </span></p><p> </div></p>
