<em>Unless the American Cobras have already lost the COTT Wolrd Tag Team Championships i dont see this change taking place, given that in your universe no single company should monopolize the alliance belts, so while CZCW has the Tag Titles I dont see the world title going their way, also Flash has been busy defending the Empire title, so he hasnt defended the World Title that much, so I thinkhe will get at least another couple defenses minimum before he loses the title, and it will be against a bigger star.</em></p><p> </p><p>

[NYCW Tag Team Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Boys are in this story with the Doctor, and they have been undefeated sicne it began, and they just won the tag titles last month, they are not losing the titles tonight doesnt matter how good Jebediah aadn Harker are, Im curious to see where this story is heading for the Boys of the Yukon and I hope Jebediah and Harker can build a little bit more tag experience before challenging for the titles again, at least shouldnt be that soon.</em></p><p> </p><p>

"That 90's Guy" Riley McManus & ??? vs <strong>Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor O'Haire</strong></p><p>

[ultimate Throwback Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Surely the DAVE star is a second hand star The doctor brought to bamboozle McManus, also Prisoner 6 still is undefeated, and given how he has been built I cant say I see him losing any time soon, but this is a good way to get around his match without having to book another sqush for the title, and it gives diversity to his storiline, what I dont know is if we will see the doctor in the ring or not, I heel his betting all on Prisoner 6.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Ring Generals</strong> vs The Maryland Alliance</p><p>

[Open Challenge Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I really like the Maryland Alliance I think they are still a great tag team to have even at their age, but I have to go with the generals, this is simply week 2 of the open challenge they cant lose so soon, they need to build a streak so when someone beat them it does mean something, also I dont think the maryland alliance fit the vision you have for NYCW, so all signs say they lose this match.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Conner Threepwood vs <strong>Art Reed</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Jason is a tag team wrestler he really doesnt have the pull individually to get that singles push, he was simply brought to team with Robbie, meanwile Reed is in a mean streak with this darker side, and even more after he feel screwed out of the empire championship, he feels he needs somethng to prove and Jason is his sacrficial lamb.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs Philipe LaGrenier</p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Next big thing against a tag team guy, smith is busy with his feud with Frank, he cannot be dropping losses that often on events, so I think LaGrenier has to do the honors becaus he still isnt as over in america and Smith is more important for the company.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Dermot O'Logical vs <strong>Man Mountain Cahill</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Another squash for Cahill, I can see this morph for the PPV into a 2 on 1 with cahill taking on the aces of mayhem after las week to rebuild credibilty, so Cahil brutalizes the face beauty enthusiast.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Aces Of Mayhem</strong> vs Old School Principals</p><p> </p><p>

<em>If this two are fighting Cahill, they need all the practice they can get, also all the mometum and steam to have people think at least wont be asquash anf they will trty to fight, this coincideds with you beggining to bring down the card the older wrestlers for the new generation, the old school principals were transitional champions and now everything returned to normal, with them acting as gatekeeper, for the new teams that will be the future of NYCW, and the old school principals serve to train them and give them moemtum. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Sorry I dont predict every show, you post to quickly and I have a work, I cannot reply in time most of the time, because computers block this page in the office and I have no time in my house in the weekdays but if I find time to predict you will see me here.</p>

Steve Flash © vs Donnie J

[COTT World Heavyweight Match]

The run of Flash continues. I think you're going to keep booking him to win until the AI takes the COTT title off of him -- and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

Animal Harker & Jebediah vs The Boys From Yukon ©

[NYCW Tag Team Title Match]. I'm calling a draw/non finish here. I think it's too early to beat Harker and Jebediah, but I also think it's too soon to switch the titles off of the Boys from Yukon, so a non finish it is!

Steve Flash © vs Donnie J

[COTT World Heavyweight Match]

A little bit torn on this one as Donnie J is generally signed early by USPW, so he is considered a top threat in my mind. Steve has had a heck of a run and I’m not sure where the tag belts are right now. After some thought I’ll say Flash retains.....for now

Animal Harker & Jebediah vs The Boys From Yukon ©

[NYCW Tag Team Title Match].

It could be a double schmazz here but I’m looking at the a Good Dr pulling some shenanigans here. Maybe 6 comes down and jumps Jeb or the Boys just get themselves DQ’d. im going with some sort of DQ so no title change

"That 90's Guy" Riley McManus & ??? vs Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor O'Haire

[ultimate Throwback Match] This is a total setup by O’Haire based on his evil grin when making this offer to Riley. Either it’s one of the Dave Icons that is so far past his prime Riley has to take most of the match......or it is one of the heels from that company that is so put off my Riley’s gushing and his silly 90’s attitude that they turn on him in the match making it a 3 on 1. Not that #6 needs the help.

The Ring Generals vs The Maryland Alliance

[Open Challenge Match]

Um no this is not a team to get the job done

Conner Threepwood vs Art Reed

Reed wants the belt and if given the match I suspect Reed will get a nice Christmas present at the December event.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Philipe LaGrenier

Bulldozer’s gonna kill you

Dermot O'Logical vs Man Mountain Cahill

Time for a serious makeover, bring in the plastic surgeon Dr Cahill

The Aces Of Mayhem vs Old School Principals

Aces haven’t had a very memorable run. They are either leaving the company or they get a win over the former champs so they can maybe get a title shot in between another match with the Harper-Jeb tandem. I’ll take a chance the latter is true

NYCW Throwback Thursday

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Thursday, Week 2, November 2016

Audience: 2,000 (SELL OUT!)

Announce Team:

Rock Downpour & Ernie Turner

Rock Downpour
and
Ernie Turner
welcome us to Throwback Thursday! They promise us a nostalgic fuelled evening, filled with the very best of old school wrestling. Rock Downpour hypes the nights Main Event and that COTT World Heavyweight Championship was returning to New York! Could Steve Flash continue the best year of his 31 year career, or will 21 year veteran and Coastal Zone Champion become the fourth man to hold the COTT World Heavyweight Championship?

  • The announcement of 3-Time DAVE Tag Team Champion Tank Bradley as the surprise partner seemed to underwhelm parts of the crowd, but Riley McManus didn't seem perturbed. He looked delighted as he made his way down to the ring alongside Tank, while wearing his vintage 90's DAVE tee shirt. Perhaps Riley had been a huge fan of The New Jersey Devils?

  • Prisoner No. 6 trails out behind Doctor O'Haire, who continues to wear the Tri-State Regional Title proudly around his waist – which continues to rile up Rock Downpour on commentary.

  • Prisoner No. 6 stomps to the ring and Doctor O'Haire heads straight to the apron, indicating that the violent inmate will be starting this one off for their team. Tank Bradley looks like he wants nothing to do with Prisoner No. 6, and encourages Riley into the ring while he steps out onto the apron.

  • Riley starts this match well, using his impressive technical wrestling skills to ground his much larger opponent and control the opening exchanges.

  • However, unlike last week Riley isn't able to completely nullify Prisoner No. 6 and is subject to a number of Slams and a big right hand.

  • Riley is clearly a little rattled, but is able duck under a second big right hand from the inmate and lands a nice looking Bulldog to take Prisoner No. 6 off his feet.

  • Riley scrambles for his corner as Prisoner No. 6 regains his feet, looking for the tag and a chance to recuperate and get his head straight. Tank Bradley looks over at the physically imposing Prisoner No. 6, who is back on his feet, and the oncoming Riley McManus and makes a decision.

  • Riley looks on aghast as Tank Bradley hops back off of the apron onto the mat below. Riley looks through the ropes as Tank makes his way to the back, showered by boos from the fans.

  • Riley pulls himself to his feet, clearly not believing what he's just seen and turns right into a Jail Break from Prisoner No. 6/. Referee Michael Bull makes the count and this one is over.

“That 90's Guy” Riley McManus & Tank Bradley vs Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor O'Haire

Rock Downpour: “Where's Tank Bradley going? He's just left his partner high and dry out there!”

Ernie Turner: “Poor Riley was so excited to team with him, and that washed up has been ran away scared!”

Rock Downpour: “And now Riley's in there alone with that monster!”

Riley McManus is down in the ring and isn't moving. Prisoner No. 6 stands menacingly over him, but Doctor O'Haire shakes his head. The therapist crouches down next to Riley and looks down at him almost sadly.

“Never meet your heroes kid.”

The doctor indicated to Prisoner No. 6, and they headed to the back – leaving a distraught looking Riley McManus clawing his way back to his feet in the ring. Riley slowly slid out of the ring and instinctively grabbed his DAVE tee shirt from ringside, before stopping and looking down at the tee. An angry look crossed Riley's face and he screwed up the tee shirt and threw it into the crowd before storming to the back.

Never meet your heroes

Involved: Riley McManus, Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor Michael O'Haire

Rock Downpour: “That damn Doctor O'Haire set Riley up! He knew Tank Bradley was washed up and just wanted an easy win for his patient!”

Ernie Turner: “I don't know Rocky... the doctor said he'd get a multi-time DAVE champion for Riley and he got one. Besides DAVE died a decade ago, a lot changes in that time.”

  • This one was a real squash – one sided even for a Man Mountain Cahill match.

  • Dermot O'Logical failed to raise any real offence in this one, a right hand to the face in the first minute freaking out the skin care enthusiast as he began bleeding from the mouth.

  • The Man Mountain wasted little time in hitting the Mountain Topper to pick up a simple victory.

Dermot O'Logical vs Man Mountain Cahill

Rock Downpour: “That was brutal from the Man Mountain. Poor Dermot...”

Ernie Turner: “I said last week that someone was going to pay for the Aces Of Mayhem escaping Cahill's grasp... unfortunately, I think Dermot's drawn the short straw...”

Unfortunately for Dermot O'Logical, he didn't have the same quick thinking that saved The Aces Of Mayhem last month. Dermot seemed far too concerned trying to blot his bleeding lip to think about evacuating the ring any time soon. The Man Mountain soom loomed over a terrified Dermot O'Logical and delivered another heavy right hand to the pride and joy of the skin care enthusiast. Not happy with his work, Man Mountain Cahill hauled Dermot O'Logical for another Mountain Topper, and delivered it right into the turnbuckle! The impact was sickening, and Dermot O'Logical didn't move after the impact. The crowd was silent as Man Mountain Cahill's big belly laugh filled the arena as he slowly made his way to the back.

Re-Asserting his dominance

Involved: Man Mountain Cahill & Dermot O'Logical

Rock Downpour: “I've seen Man Mountain Cahill do some despicable things but...”

Ernie Turner: “You've just got to hope Dermot O'Logical is okay. It doesn't look good, but the medics are with him now.”

  • What this match lacked in finesse it made up for in big men throwing hands. This one was a Wild Brawl from the off.

  • Howlin' Mad Mort and Jebediah started this one off, the two Big Bulky Heavyweights sizing each other up. Right hands were thrown and landed by both men, but neither man was taken off of their feet.

  • This was the theme of the match, as all four brawlers landed shots but ultimately struggled to take their opponent off of their feet. Animal Harker was the first to go down, taken down by a Big Clothesline by Howlin' Mad Mort. The lumberjack stomped away at his fallen opponent, before tagging to his partner.

  • Whitehorse Whittaker lifted Animal Harker up on to his shoulder, but the former tag team champion was able to slip out the back and make the tag to Jebediah.

  • Jebediah lumbered into the ring and shook Whitehorse Whittaker with a big right hand. Whittaker stumbled back across the ring and made the tag to Howlin' Mad Mort.

  • The Boys Of Yukon looked to double team the big Amish brawler, but Jebediah was able to fend them off with right hands before dumping Whitehorse Whittaker over the top rope to the outside.

  • Jebediah was on a roll and landed another heavy right hand on Howlin' Mad Mort, when Doctor O'Haire came running out from behind the curtain and hopped onto the apron.

  • Jebediah stopped what he was doing and stared at Doctor O'Haire, looking thoroughly confused as to why he was stood on the apron.

  • Howlin' Mad Mort surprised Jebediah as he rolled him up into a very large package, which was surprising enough to keep Jebediah's shoulders down for the three.

  • The Boys From Yukon joined Doctor O'Haire on the outside to celebrate their victory, leaving a thoroughly confused Jebediah kneeling in the ring wondering what had just happened.

NYCW Tag Team Titles

Rock Downpour: “You've got to be kidding me! Him? Again?”

Ernie Turner: “Doctor O'Haire certainly looks after his clients Rocky. Jebediah looked like he was just getting control of that one as well.”

  • This was a fairly one sided contest. While Philippe got in enough shots to show that he may be one for the future, Bulldozer Brandon Smith is very much the man for now.

  • Bulldozer attacked his young opponent with his trademark heavy-duty Suplexes and violent Slams.

  • The powerhouse proved too much for LaGrenier, and was able to hit the Tombstone Piledriver around the six minute to secure the win.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Philippe LaGrenier

Rock Downpour: “A focused and ruthless performance from Bulldozer Brandon Smith tonight. He looked like he was sending a message to Honest Frank out there!”

Ernie Turner: “If I was Honest Frank I wouldn't be in this building. I'd make sure I was as far away from Brandon Smith a geographically possible!”

Following his match, Bulldozer Brandon Smith grabbed a microphone. Smith told the crowd that he knew Frank wasn't in the building tonight, but said that he had a message for the former Empire Champion. Smith is still unhappy that Frank dodged him at 'Carnage In Queens' by getting himself intentionally disqualified. So the Bulldozer has an offer for Frank. One final match – no disqualifications, no count outs, no rules! Smith invites Frank to bring all the tricks he wants, because the Bulldozer will run over him!

Rock Downpour: “A huge challenge from Brandon Smith! He really wants to get his hands on Honest Frank!”

Ernie Turner: “But is he playing into Frank's hands? No rules... for a man like Frank that's an open invitation!”

Rock Downpour: “Maybe so, but after dodging Brandon Smith for months will Frank even accept the challenge?”

  • Haley Buck welcomes us to another Ring Generals Open Challenge. She announces this months challenges as two time former SCCW Tag Team Champions, Brady Prince and Buck Graham – The Maryland Alliance!

  • The Maryland Alliance may have been a top team back in the early 2000's, but both had been out of regular work for over a decade and they struggled to keep up with The Ring Generals in this one. Buck Graham in particular proved easy pickings for the slick tags and double team moves from Marv Statler & Dean Waldorf.

  • However it was Brady Prince who fell victim to The Wheelbarrow Bomb after The Ring Generals worked a 2 on 1 situation, with Buck Graham hurt on the floor outside the ring.

  • Post-match Haley Buck commiserated The Maryland, telling them that they could take solace in knowing that they had been beaten by the best. She then implored any teams who thought they could give The Ring Generals a real challenge to join them at 'Ground Zero' and try to win the contracts that were on offer.

The Maryland Alliance (Brady Prince & Buck Graham) vs The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler)

The Ring Generals Open Challenge Match

Rock Downpour: “Another impressive performance from The Ring Generals tonight.”

Ernie Turner: “They're one of the best tag teams in the country Rocky, and with Haley Buck by their side they've really stepped it up another level!”

  • This was a fun little match between two teams looking to put themselves front and center for a title shot. The Aces of Mayhem were the last team to defeat the current Tag Team Champions, The Boys From Yukon, back in April. The Old School Principals meanwhile, were the team The Boys From Yukon defeated last month for the gold. A win for either team tonight would surely move them to the front of the queue to challenge for the belts.

  • This was a real clash of styles, as The Aces Of Mayhem looked to wrestle at a high tempo while the veteran pair of Sanders & Mauler looked to take shortcuts and slow the match down at every opportunity.

  • The Old School Principals were able to isolate Max Mayhem in their corner for large parts of this match, but when Mayhem was able to land a Dropkick and make the hot tag to Ace Youngblood – the momentum completely shifted.

  • Ace Youngblood hit the ring and cleared house, before dumping Rick Sanders over the top rope to the outside. With Mauler isolated, The Aces Of Mayhem hit the Chaos Effect to pick up the win.

The Aces Of Mayhem (Ace Youngblood & Max Mayhem) vs Old School Principals (Rick Sanders & The Masked Mauler)

Ernier Turner: “That's a big win for The Aces Of Mayhem. They've had their issues over the past few months, but that's got to put them back in the title hunt!”

Rock Downpour: “They were the last team to beat the champions, so they've got as good a claim as anyone!”

Ernier Turner: “But The Boys Of Yukon are a different proposition after they've began working with Dr. O'Haire. Can The Aces of Mayhem repeat their win against the new, improved Boys Of Yukon?”

  • This was an entertaining match between two technically minded wrestlers. The story once again revolved around Art Reed's feared Dread Lock.

  • Threepwood wrestled a very defensive match, keeping on top of his opponent and trying to ensure that Dread Lock didn't come into play.

  • However, the turning point of the match wasn't the Dread Lock at all. After struggling to break free of Threepwood's holds and submissions for most of the match, Reed was finally able to create some seperation and nailed Threepwood with a Super Kick.

  • Threepwood's lights were out, and Reed was able to lock in the Dread Lock and Threepwood had no choice but to tap almost straight away.

Conner Threepwood vs Art Reed

Rock Downpour: “An impressive showing from Conner Threepwood, but Reed walks away with another win. The man is yet to be pinned or submitted since joining NYCW back in June.”

Ernie Turner: “Conner had control of most of that match, but it only takes a moment for Reed to apply that Dread Lock and it's all over!”

  • On commentary, Rock Downpour and Ernie Turner hyped up the COTT World Heavyweight Championship and recapped Steve Flash's reign so far. Six successful title defences all over North America.

  • His COTT World Heavyweight Championship win had been the culmination of Steve Flash's 31 year career, and defending the title on an NYCW show gave tonights Main Event a real 'big match feel'.

  • In Donnie J, Steve Flash was facing a man who had won gold wherever he had been. A four time CZCW Coastal Zone Champion, a three time TCW Cruiserweight Champion, as well as Tag Team gold in both companies with his ex-partner Jimmy P. Flash was in for a real test tonight.

  • This was a real back and forth match, with the two 20+ year veterans showing all of their ring nouse and matching each other hold for hold.

  • The turning point in the match came in an attempted Flying Cross Body from Donnie J. Steve Flash was able to get out of the way of the Coastal Zone Champion, but referee Michael Bull was not so lucky.

  • With the referee down, both men continued to go at it and Steve Flash didn't notice when Art Reed slid into the ring behind him. Art clubbed Steve Flash in the back of the head, before naiing him with a Super Kick as Flash tried to get back to his feet.

  • Seeing referee Michael Bull was starting to come around, Art Reed slid out of the ring and disappeared to the back.

  • Donnie J looked down at his felled opponent for a moment, seemingly conflicted, before pulling Flash to his feet and nailing the 50 year old with his Death On Miami Beach to win his first World Heavyweight Title.

  • Boos filled Pennsylvania Park as Michael Bull handed Donnie J the Heavyweight Title Belt.

NYCW pre 'Ground Zero' Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

November was a mixed month for us. We managed to turn a $1,603 profit for the month, which was a good result, but we only came 2nd in the Regional Battle this month, following a good showing from PSW. With Larry having declared histilities with PSW a couple of months ago, this was not a result he was happy with.

Steve had also lost the COTT World Heavyweight Championship at 'Throwback Thursday', which was a political decision taken by the COTT booking committee. Cliff Anderson seemed to be preparing to take CZCW to war with GSW following them taking on two of his talents following hostility between the two promotions, and had requested to the COTT committee that the World Championship come to California to help in his fight against the two Hardcore upstart promotions.

For his part Steve had accepted the decision in his usual good grace. He had enjoyed a good run with the belt – six successful defences in a seven month reign that had covered a trip to California, three trips to the Mid Atlantic and even a trip over to Canada defending the belt. He had defended the title in every COTT territory apart from Mexico, with the highlight being a fantastic match with Frankie Perez in California that had got the internet raving. TotalExtremeWrestling.com had rated the contest a 'B-', and it had been a real highlight in the 32nd year of Steve Flash's career. As COTT World Heavyweight Champion, Steve had also travelled to MAW and won the prestigious Sam Keith Classic alongside MAW fan favourite Hal Havard. 2016 had really been a 'career year' for the 50 year old, and who would have thought that at the beginning of the year?

I was thankful that the COTT committee allowed us to do the swap at an NYCW show. It had allowed us to add real fuel to the budding rivalry between Steve and Art Reed. The previous meeting between these two men was the best match we had put on in 2016, so I had high hopes they could go even better this time around, with Art having more heat with the crowd after costing Steve his World Title.

The month finished with the news that TCW had returned to 'National' size. While this was great news for the promotion, it is always a worry for smaller promotions like us when these National companies increase in size due to the inevitable hiring spree that follows. We had already lost Roger Cage and Tennessee William to the SWF this year, and it had taken a long time to properly replace both of those men. I was crossing my fingers that I wouldn't have to scout any further replacements before the year was out.

Sorry I dont predict every show, you post to quickly and I have a work, I cannot reply in time most of the time, because computers block this page in the office and I have no time in my house in the weekdays but if I find time to predict you will see me here.

Not a problem at all, glad to know you're still following along! I always enjoy reading everyones reasoning behind their predictions as it helps me know who's hitting home with readers and who's not. I know this diary moves along quickly, but I like the momentum that creates. Even if you can't predict every show, I'm always interested to see your predictions and commentary whenever you can! :)

Thank you to everyone who predicted on 'Throwback Thursday'! I had a great time in Turkey, and I'm rested and ready to get back into this diary! :) Expect to see the card for 'Ground Zero' up later today.

Prediction Contest - Round Four

No perfect scores this round, with nobody picking the World Title swap in the Main Event. I can understand why nobody picked it, but hopefully the latest 'Creative Meeting' post explains why I decided to make the switch. I like to try and weave some of the events that the game throws at me into the narrative, to keep the game fresh for me and slightly less predictable!

I believe the winners this show were jameschaos and XMultiGanes with 7 correct predictions each. This moves jameschaos tied in the lead with Theheel on two points, with four more only a point back with one show left!

Prediction Results after Round Four

2 Points = Theheel & jameschaos

1 point = James The Animator, Jaded, Shift425 & XMultiGames

'Ground Zero' will be the final show of the year, and the final show of this round of predictions! Hope to see you all back predicting for the next show!

Edit: Also, thank you to whoever added the five star vote to the thread - I really appreciate it!

2016 has been a 'Career Year' for Steve Flash. The 50 year old won his first COTT World Heavyweight Championship back in April, his fourth NYCW Empire Title in July and followed that up two weeks later by winning the Sam Keith Classic alongside Hal Harvard. However, 'Ground Zero' sees Flash face possibly his toughest challenge in the final show of the year. Art Reed is still yet to pinned or submitted in NYCW since joining the promotion in June. Reed claims he should be Empire Champion, having made Flash tap out to his feared 'Dread Lock' in October, but referee Michael Bull had disqualified “The Pure Athlete” for illegally continuing the hold. Reed maintains this was the wrong call, and raised the ante as he interfered in Steve Flash's World Heavyweight Championship match last month at 'Throwback Thursday' and cost Flash his World Title! Can Flash get his revenge and cap off his 'Career Year' as Empire Champion, or will Reed continue his run and claim the Empire Title he claims should already be his?

'Throwback Thursday' also saw Doctor Michael O'Haire interfere in the NYCW Tag Team Titles match between The Boys Of Yukon and Jebediah and Animal Harker, distracting Jebediah and costing the Simpleton a match he looked to have won. Jebediah has not taken this well, and the 6'11 brawler has challenged Doctor O'Haire's patient, the unbeaten Prisoner No. 6, for his Tri-State Regional Title. Jebediah certainly has the size and weight to physically match the imposing inmate, but can the Amish brawler be the man to end Prisoner No. 6's unbeaten run?

The Aces Of Mayhem are the last team to defeat NYCW Tag Team Champions The Boys From Yukon. However this was before the Yukon boys began working with therapist Doctor Michael O'Haire. Since working with O'Haire, The Boys From Yukon have looked like a different team. Following The Aces Of Mayhem's win last month at 'Throwback Thursday' they laid down a challenge for the Tag Team Titles. In response, The Boys From Yukon have handpicked opponents for The Aces Of Mayhem – CZCW's Notorious. If The Aces Of Mayhem defeat the street brawlers, they will earn a Tag Team Title shot at 'Rush Hour'.

The Ring Generals Open Challenge continues at 'Ground Zero', this time answered by the veteran Canadian tag team 'The Gilbert Brothers'. The brothers have found themselves out of work since Joe's release by 4C in November. Can the brothers land themselves a new job, or will The Ring Generals back up their claim to be the best tag team in North America?

Elsewhere on the card, Tag Team Champions The Boys From Yukon will be in non-title action, as well as “That 90's Guy” Riley McManus and Bulldozer Brandon Smith. Be sure not to miss the final show of a fantastic 2016 for NYCW!

<p>Well a very interesting year end spectacular with this show. Interesting that Honest Frank is not on the show as I figured that the Bulldozer would be finishing off Frank at this show. In my mind the card for predictions comes down to the Empire Title Match, and the Tri-State Title match. Could the Jeb end the Prisoner's run</p><p> </p><p>

[NYCW Empire Title Match]</p><p>

<strong>A hell of a year for Flash but it comes to an end. I think we are moving to Reed vs Bulldozer Smith. It's time for the reign of the Pure Athlete. </strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jebediah</strong> vs Prisoner No. 6 © w/ Doctor O'Haire</p><p>

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]</p><p>

<strong>Is it back to the pen for the Prisoner or has Eisen seen enough to sign him? I really think this is the toughest match on the card to predict. I don't think the Prisoner will lose a clean fall, but I could see Jeb getting a DQ or CO win. I'm going with the Prisoner in a fit of frustration shows his most violent side and the Doc loses complete control to cause the DQ</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs Hugh Ancrie</p><p>

<strong>Again I am really wondering where Frank is and why Brandon gets Hugh here instead of Frank</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Aces</strong> Of Mayhem vs Notorious</p><p>

<strong>Ok because the tag champs are heels, and the best tag team in the Ted are also heels, they have to have someone to go against so I’ll take the Aces to prevail</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>“That 90's Guy” Riley McManus</strong> vs Brutus Milano</p><p>

<strong> Riley was upset after the last show where the "legend" walked out on him. I was kind of thinking this would be Riley vs the DAVE Legend but Brutus will do as a bounce back win.</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Fighting Irish</strong> vs Old School Pricipals</p><p><strong>

I'm giving a slight lean to the OSP. I could see this match costing me the prediction contest. However I have reconsidered this pick because of the lack of face tag teams in NYCW as the OSP are arguably the 3rd rated heel tag. So I’ll take the Irish</strong></p>

<p>Steve Flash © vs <strong>“The Pure Athlete” Art Reed</strong></p><p>

[NYCW Empire Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I love Steve Flash, but his age is always going to be an issue, I feel that Iif you took the COTT title out of him has to be for a reason, maybe he is retiring or simply he isnt getting the grades anymore, but I feel Reed has been build so strong to be athreat to beat, so I feel he is the perfect foe for BBS, to establish himself as the top dog in the company.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Jebediah vs <strong>Prisoner No. 6 © w/ Doctor O'Haire</strong></p><p>

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Its going to be a tough match for Prisoner 6, but he isnt dropping the title now, his story is still fresh and is getting attention for him, and the up in tue quality of opponents has freshened up his reign instead of the jobbers, I feel he needs to dominate a little bit more before OHaire power begins to fade.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Ring Generals</strong> vs The Gilbert Brothers</p><p>

[Open Challenge Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I like the Gilbert Brothers, but they arent important enough to get a contract or to beat the ring generals in new york, they need to beat a lot of challengers before they lose the open challenge to build their credibility.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Brooklyn's Finest vs <strong>The Boys From Yukon</strong></p><p>

[Non-Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Most Jobber face team in NYCW against the giant dominant monster heel tag team champions with the manager as their guide, this is the squash match to put them back on dominating ways, after last month close match with Harker and Jebediah, they have to show they are not getting weaker, and that in turn will make Jabediah and Harker strong in comparison for almost beating them.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs Hugh Ancrie</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Ancrie is a prospect, but is young and has to pay his dues, BBS is the future of the company, he isnt losing tonight.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Aces Of Mayhem</strong> vs Notorious</p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Aces seem to be getting a push, and Notorious simply arent known here, they are a los angeles team, so this seam just be building The Aces as one of the top face teams in the company.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>“That 90's Guy” Riley McManus</strong> vs Brutus Milano</p><p> </p><p>

<em>After the scuffle with Doctor O'Haire and his shenaningans and his boys, Riley returns to his winning ways by beating Brutus Milano, that now Im Sure is a jobber for your NYCW, he lost to freaking Brooklyns Finest, the most jobber team in NYCW, so theres no actual way in hell Milano is going to get a win in this diary, I wouldnt be surpirsed if he is faced out of the company if even as a jobber he cannot put the grades for his matches or gets so bad momentum he isnt even useful to put over your wreslters, so McMauns continues his way to the top of the card by beating another lowercard heel.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Fighting Irish</strong> vs Old School Principals</p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Old School Principals seem to have outlived their utility, they helped you in a very difficult situation, as they were over and good enough to transition the titles to them in short notice after losing Tenessee, but I would bet they are in Time Decline since the beginning of the game, and they maybe are beginning to show more decline, their title reign was never meant to be long, just hold them until the Boys of the Yukon were on the point in the story you needed them, but right now they served their purpose as champions, and they seem to be getting surpassed in overness by other wrestlers, so I assume their new role is to put over the new face tag teams you are introducing to counter your heel heavy tag division, and sreve as gatekeepers, passing popularity and overness through tub, passing knowledge as teachers for the younger wrestlers, and serving as pawns for wrestlers to beat to build momentum, they are old and they know it and they are ready to do their duty and look to the lights to put over the new generation as the previous generation did for them, so that Means putting Robbie and Jason over, as they seem to be growing to take the mantel as the top face team in the company.</em></p>

Announce Team:

Rock Downpour & Ernie Turner

Rock Downpour
and
Ernie Turner
welcome us to 'Ground Zero' and wish everyone a happy Christmas Eve. The commentators hype up tonight's Main Event, which sees Art Reed challenge for Steve Flash's NYCW Empire Title! Last month at 'Throwback Thursday' Art Reed attacked Flash during his match with Donnie J and cost the 50 year old his COTT World Heavyweight Championship! Reed has been claiming for months that he deserves to be Empire Champion, but Flash will be out for revenge tonight! Rock Downpour also informs us that following his vicious assault on Dermot O'Logical last month, Man Mountain Cahill has been banned from the building tonight. Rock also informs us that Dermot O'Logical was badly injured in the attack and won't be back in action for a very long time.

We open the night with the man challenging for Steve Flash's NYCW Empire Title coming down to the ring. Art Reed tells the crowd that last month at 'Throwback Thursday' he did what he needed to do. Art Reed should have been crowned Empire Champion at 'Carnage At Queens', but the referee blew the call. Reed promised that tonight he would take his rightful place as NYCW Empire Champion. Steve Flash has already tapped to the Dread Lock twice, and tonight he would do it again.

I did what I had to do...

Involved: Art Reed

Rock Downpour: “Art Reed showing no remorse for costing Steve Flash the World Heavyweight Championship, and he certainly sounds confident of beating him tonight!”

Ernie Turner: “Art Reed is still yet to be pinned or submitted here in NYCW, he has every reason to be confident! He'll be facing a mighty angry Steve Flash tonight, but if he locks in that Dread Lock of his – we'll be crowning a new NYCW Champion!”

  • The Aces Of Mayhem knew that a victory here would earn them a Tag Team Title shot against The Boys From Yukon next month at 'Rush Hour'.

  • However, The Boys From Yukon had hand picked their opponents tonight, the impressive CZCW tag team – Notorious.

  • Notorious were a couple of street brawlers, and overwhelmed The Aces Of Mayhem in the early stages of this match. Max Mayhem in particular had little response to Notorious' hard hitting style, and found himself isolated in the opponents corner.

  • Mayhem absorbed a lot of punsihment, until a Step-Up Enziguiri gave him an opening. He scrambled across the ring and made the hot tag to Ace Youngblood.

  • Youngblood hit the ring and cleaned house with a series of impressive Tomahawk Chops. The Native American was fired up and dumped Carlos Barrera from the ring to set up the Chaos Effect for the victory.

The Aces Of Mayhem (Ace Youngblood & Max Mayhem) vs Notorious (Carlos Barrera & Miguel Rivera)

Rock Downpour: “An impressive victory from The Aces Of Mayhem which earns them a shot at The Boys From Yukon next month at 'Rush Hour'!”

Ernie Turner: “That's a big win for The Aces of Mayhem! Notorious are a great tag team and a big scalp. Can they step up and defeat The Boys From Yukon though?”

  • Much like his match with Ancrie's tag team partner Phillipe LaGrenier, Brandon Smith controlled this match. Ancrie was able to land a few shots here and there, but largely sold for his much larger opponent.

  • Bulldozer attacked his young opponent with his trademark heavy-duty Suplexes and violent Slams.

  • The powerhouse had far too much for Ancrie, and was able to hit the Tombstone Piledriver just after the six minute to secure the win.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Hugh Ancrie

Ernie Turner: “Another dominating display from Brandon Smith!”

Rock Downpour: “He was sending a message to Honest Frank with that performance.”

Smith's celebrations were interrupted as Honest Frank pushed through the curtain with a microphone in hand. Honest Frank told Smith that he had heard his challenge last month at 'Throwback Thursday'. He said that if the Bulldozer wanted to face him in a match with no rules, then that was okay with Honest Frank! Frank told Smith to be careful what he wishes for. Honest Frank had been one step ahead of the Bulldozer ever since their rivalry had begun, and Frank told Smith that this stipulation would only see Frank take another step ahead of the Big Heavyweight, and that was the “Honest Truth”.

Be careful what you wish for...

Involved: Honest Frank & Bulldozer Brandon Smith

Rock Downpour: “Honest Frank accepts the challenge! It's going to be Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Honest Frank in a no rules match at 'Rush Hour'!”

Ernie Turner: “That's a huge announcement, but I can't help but worry that Honest Frank is right. He's a man who always has a trick up his sleeve, and 'no rules' makes it that much easier to use all of the tricks he has at his disposal!”

  • Following the big announcement about the 'No Rules' match between BBS and Honest Frank, we asked these guys to 'Calm The Crowd'.

  • This was a straight up squash match, as the Tag Team Champions destroyed Brooklyn's Finest in non-title action.

  • The Boys From Yukon used their size advantage to force a two-on-one situation and hit the Tiiiiiiiiiiimber on Hawkeye Calhoun for the win.

Brooklyn's Finest (Hawkeye Calhoun & Freedom Eagle) vs The Boys From Yukon (Howlin' Mad Mort & Whitehorse Whittaker)

Rock Downpour: “A dominating performance from the Tag Team Champions tonight. They were sending a message to The Aces Of Mayhem ahead of their title clash next month.”

Ernie Turner: “The Boys From Yukon head into 2017 as Tag Team Champions, and based on tonights performance I'm not sure I can see anyone taking those belts away from them!”

  • This was a really open contest between two hugely experienced and decorated Tag Teams. Both teams utilised frequent tags and double team moves in a match where momentum swung one way and then another.

  • The Old School Principals looked to have things in hand when The Masked Mauler, the largest man in the contest, used his size advantage to isolate Crockett Tubbs in his teams corner.

  • Mauler hammered away on Tubbs with right hands, but made a mistake as Tubbs swung over a Suplex attempt and landed on his feet. Tubbs scrambled across the ring and made the tag to Conner Threepwood.

  • Mauler charged at Threepwood, but he ran right into a Drop Toe Hold. Threepwood transitioned this instantly into his Stretch Plum submission hold, and Mauler tapped out almost instantly, before Rick Sanders could make the save.

The Fighting Irish (Conner Threepwood & Crocket Tubbs) vs Old School Principals (Rick Sanders & The Masked Mauler)

Ernie Turner: "A strong performance and a big win for The Fighting Irish heading into 2017!"

Rock Downpour: "Absolutely! A win over the former Tag Team Champions could be the catalyst that takes their NYCW careers to the next level!"

Haley Buck introduces us to the latest iteration of The Ring Generals Open Challenge. Haley reminds us that in the unlikely event that a challenging team is able to defeat her clients, they will earn themselves a guaranteed one year contract with NYCW. She then introduces us to this months challengers, remarking that since they are both recently unemployed they should be extra motivated for this match. This team are former three time 4C Tag Team Champions in Canada and two time former CZCW Tag Team Champions. Joe and Jesse, the Gilbert Brothers!

Open Challenge Introduction

Involved: Haley Buck, Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler

Rock Downpour: “The Gilbert Brothers have been one of the most decorated Tag Teams on the independent circuit over the past decade! They've been successful wherever they've gone. Could they be the team to win The Ring Generals Open Challenge?”

Ernie Turner: “The Gilbert Brothers have had a good career as a tag team over the years, but The Ring Generals are one of the best teams in North America. I'm backing The Ring Generals to get the win tonight.”

  • The Gilbert Brothers came down to the ring with their trademark Hockey Sticks, a gimmick that perhaps didn't quite have the same impact in New York that it might have back up in Canada.

  • Despite The Gilbert Brothers extensive history as a tag team, they have had some issues and were involved in a feud just before Jesse's release from 4C back in March. They may have reconciled in order to try and win the contracts on offer, but they didn't look entirely back on the same page.

  • This gave The Ring Generals a huge advantage, as their slick teamwork and double teams kept them in control of the match up. It was Dean Waldorf who picked up the win for his team, hitting his Waldorf Salad Toss (Pop-Up Powerbomb) on Joe Gilbert.

  • Post-match Haley Buck commiserated The Gilbert Brothers, telling them that they could take solace in knowing that they had been beaten by the best team in North America. Haley then called on any team out there who thought they could give The Ring Generals a real challenge to join them next year at 'Rush Hour' and try to win the contracts that were on offer.

The Gilbert Brothers (Joe & Jesse Gilbert) vs The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler)

The Ring Generals Open Challenge Match

Rock Downpour: “The Gilbert Brothers battled hard out there, but the superior teamwork of The Ring Generals was the difference tonight.”

Ernie Turner: “That's five wins on the bounce for The Ring Generals Rocky. With Haley Buck behind them, they truly are one of the best teams in the country!”

  • Much to the disappointment of the crowd, Riley McManus came down to the ring without a novelty 90's tee shirt this week. On commentary, Rock Downpour speculated that Riley must still be upset about his DAVE hero Tank Bradley abandoning him during their tag match last week.

  • Riley did not look happy and abandoned his usual technical based approach in favour of a straight up fist fight this week.

  • Unfortunately for Riley, Brutus Milano was two full weight classes heavier than him and this extra weight gave his punches more venom than Riley's and the former 90's lover found himself very quickly on the back foot.

  • Riley continued to struggle, as Brutus pulled him into a Big Bear Hug. The hold continued for around 30 seconds, until Riley was able to deliver elbows to the side of Brutus' head to force him to break the hold.

  • Clearly in pain, Riley struggled to lean against the corner turnbuckle to regain his breath as he held his damage ribs. Seeing an opportunity, Brutus Milano charged (well plodded) at Riley, but his opponent had lots of time to see him coming and avoid the attempted Splash.

  • Milano bounced headfirst off of the turnbuckle and Riley was able to roll up the Heavyweight from behind, and just about managed to hold his shoulders down for three.

  • Despite picking up the win, Riley looked far less convincing than in previous months against an opponent he arguably should have beaten comfortably.

Riley McManus vs Brutus Milano

Ernie Turner: “Riley didn't look right out there tonight. Last months events must still be playing on his mind.”

Rock Downpour: “And I don't think his night is going to improve, look who's here...”

Doctor O'Haire makes his way down to the ring, accompanied as always by his patient Prisoner No. 6. O'Haire congratulates Riley on his victory, before telling Riley that it was time for the Doctor to “collect his calling card”. Riley laughed at the Doctor and told him no. Prisoner No. 6 cracked his knuckles, as an annoyed looking Doctor O'Haire told Riley that “he had held up his end of the bargain”. An emotional looking Riley yelled at Doctor O'Haire that he'd “Ruined The 90's!”

With that Riley bailed from the ring and retreated to the back before Prisoner No. 6 could get his hands on him. An angry looking Doctor O'Haire and Prisoner No. 6 were left standing in the ring, staring a hole into the back of Riley's head.

Calling in a favour

Involved: Riley McManus, Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor Michael O'Haire

Ernie Turner: “What on earth was that all about?”

Rock Downpour: “I don't know Ernie, but Doctor O'Haire seems to think Riley 'owes' him something for that trick he pulled on poor Riley last week!”

Doctor O'Haire & Prisoner No. 6 looked like they were considering going after Riley McManus, but then Prisoner No. 6's challenger for his Tri-State Regional Title (which incidentally was still sat around Doctor O'Haire's waist) pushed through the curtain. Prisoner No. 6 usually towers over his opponents, but as Jebediah stepped into the ring the 6'11 300lb+ Amish brawler actually stood a few inches higher than the violent inmate. Doctor O'Haire didn't look quite as confident as usual as the two giants among men shared an intense staredown.

Clash of the titans

Involved: Prisoner No. 6 & Jebediah

Ernie Turner: “Here we go Rocky! Two giants of men about to buck heads for the Tri-State Regional Title!"

Rock Downpour: "Ever since arriving, Prisoner No. 6 has always had the size and power advantage over his opponents. Tonight the 6'11 300lb+ Jebediah more than matches the inmate in both. I can't wait for this one!"

  • On commentary, Rock Downpour informs us that unfortunately Animal Harker is working in Japan tonight for Black Canvas Grappling so can't be at ringside for Jebediah tonight.

  • This was a real brawl. Not much wrestling was done, as the two big men just stood and traded hands. This would have spelled disaster for any of Prisoner No. 6's previous opponents, but Jebediah stood toe to toe with the vicious inmate and some would argue had the better of the early stages of the contest.

  • Prisoner No. 6 grew visibly more and more frustrated, as he failed to take control of the match. At one point he was nearly disqualified by referee Michael Bull after grinding Jebediah's head against the turnbuckle for longer than the five count. Luckily Jebediah was able to deliver an elbow to the mid-section that forced Prisoner No. 6 to stagger backwards.

  • Jebediah continued to throw hands, and a particular heavy right hand dropped Prisoner No. 6 to a knee and looked to have really rocked the Tri-State Regional Champion.

  • Sensing his patient was in real trouble, Doctor O'Haire began frantically looking around at ringside. A wicked grin came across the Doctor's face and he ran over to the announce table. Rock Downpour was worried by what Doctor O'Haire had planned, and the therapist grabbed the ring bell and rung it.

  • A thoroughly confused Jebediah stopped beating down on a struggling Prisoner No. 6, and looked at referee Michael Bull before strolling over to ringside to see what had happened.

  • Unfortunately for Jebediah, this gave Prisoner No. 6 enough time to recover and the inmate clubbed the big Amish brawler across the back of the head and took Jebediah down for the first time in the match.

  • Prisoner No. 6 mounted Jebediah and finally took out his frustrations, reigning down with right hands. Having been jumped from behind, Jebediah struggled to cover up and couldn't get back into the match from this point.

  • With the beatdown complete, a desperate Doctor O'Haire screamed at Prisoner No. 6 to hit the Jail Break and “end it”! Prisoner No. 6 reluctantly hauled the 300lber to his feet and delivered an impressive Jail Break to pick up an arguably undeserved victory.

  • Post-match, Prisoner No. 6 looked keen to dish out more punishment to the vulnerable Jebediah, but a flustered Doctor O'Haire had other ideas. He was already fastening the belt back around his waist and waving his patient out of the ring to hurry him to the back.

NYCW Tri-State Regional Title

Rock Downpour: “That was despicable from Doctor O'Haire. Jebediah was in control of that match, and it was only O'Haire's actions that stopped Jebediah from winning the title tonight!”

Ernie Turner: “This is becoming a bit of a theme – The Tag Titles last month and the Tri-State Regional Title tonight. Jebediah will be gunning for Doctor O'Haire as we head into 2017!”

Rock Downpour: “Speaking of costing people titles. Art Reed cost Steve Flash his COTT World Heavyweight Championship last month and the Empire Champion will be looking for his revenge tonight as he puts his title on the line in tonights Main Event!”

  • This was a fantastic match, the best in NYCW in 2016 and a great way to end the year.

  • We had an angry Steve Flash looking to gain revenge for Art Reed costing him his World Title last month, and an angry Art Reed who believes he should have won the NYCW Empire Title back in September when he made Steve Flash tap to the Dread Lock, but was ultimately disqualified by referee Michael Bull.

  • Steve Flash started this match very aggressively, a stark contrast to these two mens previous encounter, and almost paid for it as Art Reed very nearly locked in the Dread Lock in the first minute of this match – Flash just able to reach the ropes before it was fully locked in.

  • Having been given a warning, Flash went back to the more conservative approach he had used in the previous encounter. However, Art Reed had arguably had the better of that encounter as well and “The Pure Athlete” quickly settled into his work.

  • With Steve Flash creating space between the two men to nullify the threat of the Dread Lock, the champion opened himself up to a nasty looking Super Kick that looked to rattle the Empire Champion.

  • Flash managed to fight off the Dread Lock attempt that followed the Super Kick, but was now on the back foot. Art Reed delivered a Snap Suplex, followed up by a Running Dropkick to the rising Flash.

  • Sensing he was in trouble, Flash managed to slow the match down and began working on the shoulder of his opponent. Flash managed to keep his opponent to the mat for a few minutes as he regained his composure following a rough patch for the champion.

  • Flash looked to capatalise on his new found momentum, bouncing Reed of the ropes. Unfortunately Flash telegraphed the Back Body Drop, and received a boot to the face for his troubles. This stunned the champion, and Reed wasted no time in taking advantage of his vulnerable opponent and locking in his feared Dread Lock submission!

  • Flash struggled and desperately reached out for the ropes, but he was stranded in the middle of the ring! Flash tried to haul himself closer to the ropes, but Reed cinched in the hold even tighter. Flash grimaced and had no choice but to tap out.

NYCW Empire Title

Rock Downpour: “Steve Flash taps! We have a new Empire Champion. No doubt about it this time.”

Ernie Turner: “That Dread Lock is deadly Rocky! Once it's locked in, ain't nobody getting out of it!”

Rock Downpour: “It seems a shame that after such as successful 2016 this is how Steve Flash's year ends – losing his Empire Title.”

Ernie Turner: “2016 may have belonged to Steve Flash, but 2017 looks like it's going to be the year of Art Reed! I can't see anybody getting out of that Dread Lock!”

Rock Downpour: “Well we'll find out! Be sure to join us at 'Rush Hour' to kick off another year of exciting NYCW action!”

Great job building Art Reed since his signing. As you have him portrayed he is a perfect fit into NYCW. What a great year for Steve Flash. Yes it ended by dropping both the COTT World and Empire titles, but for a guy age 50 to be preforming so well (A’s evidenced by the B- match grade) he is obviously not just NYCW wrestler of the year but should be COTT wrestler of the year and in game should be Vet of the year. Although that last accolade with go to a younger (than 50) wrestler in a larger company.

Very good year end show and I’m ready to see what Honest Frank has up his sleeve for Bulldozer Brandon Smith. The rules set it up for a very rough night for the Bulldozer.

Well a very interesting year end spectacular with this show. Interesting that Honest Frank is not on the show as I figured that the Bulldozer would be finishing off Frank at this show. In my mind the card for predictions comes down to the Empire Title Match, and the Tri-State Title match. Could the Jeb end the Prisoner's run[/b]

I don't think I'm giving too much away by saying the original plan was to have Frank vs BBS as the co-main for the end of year show, but events in the game conspired to mean I had to push it back a month. Rest assured the match will happen in January though! You were right about the title matches deciding it, they seemed to split predictions right down the middle!

Okay, the Flash loss is the saddest I've been about any result in a dynasty for years, probably ever. Curse you Art Reed! (But great writing to make me care about it this much. :) )

Thanks Jaded! I'm so glad you've connected with the characters so much! Flash's year happened so organically and just kind of fell into place so I ran with it. He may have ended the year losing the title, but Flash will remain one of my top guys in 2017. :)

[NYCW Empire Title Match]

I love Steve Flash, but his age is always going to be an issue, I feel that Iif you took the COTT title out of him has to be for a reason, maybe he is retiring or simply he isnt getting the grades anymore, but I feel Reed has been build so strong to be athreat to beat, so I feel he is the perfect foe for BBS, to establish himself as the top dog in the company.

Amazingly, Flash isn't yet in time decline! Honest Frank, Rick Sanders and The Masked Mauler are all deep in time decline, but the 50 year old Flash is still going strong! I'm sure it won't be too long until he appears on the list, but I've got my fingers crossed I can squeeze another year or so out of him before then!

Thank you so much Theheel! Yeah Flash can really still go, as I said above he's yet to enter time decline (touch wood) so he's still very much one of my top guys. Speaking of the end of year awards, I'll post an overview tonight so that people can see what's happening in the game world!

Prediction Contest - Final Round

So with the final show of the year in the bag, we come to the end of this round of predictions. The winner of this round with a perfect score of 8 was XMultiGames, who joins Theheel & jameschaos on two wins. So we have a three-way tie for the lead at the end of the competition, so all three on you can expect a message from me to land in your inbox in the near future. :)

Prediction Results after the Final Round

2 Points = Theheel, jameschaos & XMultiGames

1 point = James The Animator, Jaded & Shifty425

A new year means the start of a new prediction contest! This one will run through until 'Gang Wars', our biggest show of the year. Thank you to everyone who has read and predicted so far, and I hope to see everyone back predicting at 'Rush Hour'!

I'll be posting some end of year round up stuff tonight, so expect the card for 'Rush Hour' to be up tomorrow night!

#126 Art Reed

#346 Bulldozer Brandon Smith

#456 Steve Flash

#480 Animal Harker

I was pleasantly surprised that four of our guys had made the cut this year. However, it was noticeable that three of the men who made the selection were our roster members who split their time between us and Japan. Animal Harker in particular had definitely made the list based on his work in the Far East rather than here in New York. I was glad to see Steve Flash had made the list though. He had had a fabulous year – 8 months as World Champion, 6 months as Empire Champion and he'd won the Sam Keith Classic... all at the age of 50! SOTBPW obviously dominated the awards this year, but I'd thought I'd see how things were going at some of the other top companies around the world.

NYCW New Years Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

I entered 2017 full of hope. We had finished 2016 with our best show of the year, with the Main Event between Art Reed and Steve Flash being our best match of the year. It was a fantastic show for a promotion of our size, and wass a great springboard heading into the new year!

I only wish everyone shared my optimism. We had come 2nd to PSW in the Regional Battle again in December, and Larry was not happy about it. We were making great progress as a company, but all Larry would focus on was his rivalry with Mitch Naess. Larry told me things had to change, and I happened to agree that the new year was a great time to make some changes. The first change was that Dermot O'Logical's contract had come to an end and we wouldn't be renewing. I liked Dermot, but I had run out of ideas for his character and he was growing annoyed at being used exclusively as a jobber. We wished him all the best in his future endeavors.

With Dermot moving on, it opened up space on the face side of my roster so I made a few new hirings. With Larry's mandate for “change”, I decided to take a risk on a guy I'd been considering bringing in for a while. Larry would be furious, and it wasn't without risk, but I knew if it paid off it could take us right past PSW's excellent standard as of late. If it backfired I knew I'd be in for it next month from Larry, but where was the change there? I was almost excited to see the grumpy old gits reaction on Sunday!

The big news this month was the shock news in the first week of January that USPW, the 2nd largest promotion in the world, had slipped to a Cult ranking! Despite boasting one of the most stacked rosters on the planet - A Main Event scene featuring stars such as Enygma, James Justice, Rich Money, Rick Law, Sammy Bach, Steve Frehley & Tyson Baine, as well as young stars Aaron Andrews, Jay Chord, Joshua Taylor, Randy Bumfhole & Trent Shaffer. USPW had made a number of major star acquisitions in 2016, and the rumour is that the company overstretched themselves financially by offering lucrative deals. It will be interesting to see if the company can bounce back from this.

[NYCW Empire Title Match]</p><p>

<strong>Now I understand why you were worried Larry might not like one of the guys you bring in. Remmy is a good talent but not necessarily a typical NYCW worker. It will be interesting to see if the crowd accepts him and hopefully he doesn’t pick this night to have a “Jeff Hardy moment” </strong></p><p> </p><p>

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs <strong>Honest Frank</strong></p><p>

[No Rules Match]</p><p>

<strong>This match just screams screw job. Who does a Frank have come in to do his dirty work? I say Frank gets it done and slowly moves into a managers role guiding whoever helps him in their future NYCW career </strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Still waiting for the right team to challenge them, this doesn’t feel like it</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Animal Harker & Jebediah</strong> vs Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor O'Haire</p><p>

<strong>I think Harker gets the win while a Jeb and the Prisoner are occupied elsewhere</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Steve Flash</strong> vs Philippe LaGrenier</p><p>

<strong>Bounce back win for the ageless wonder</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Riley McManus</strong> vs Man Mountain Cahill</p><p>

<strong>Tough matchup as Riley seems to be having “issues” and the Doc is upset about something. I can really see this going a different way but I’m a Riley mark </strong></p>

[NYCW Empire Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Remmy is a great guy for a one off but not for a complete run as champion, not even as a complete run as a regular wrestler, he is a good south west main eventer and his popularity is good all around the country, what happens is his gimmick doesnt adapt to the north east, he is a claifornina wrestler with a californian gimmick, he doesnt really fit here but the biggest thing is he isnt reliable, he has a lot of problems with drugs and alcohol if im not wrong, is a 50/50 shot on how is he going to be on the night, so he can pull a one off, and luckily he will be clean for his match, but for a real run his problems are too big to warrant the risk of keeping him.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs Honest Frank</p><p>

[No Rules Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>For me this is full circle, this feud not only has been building up nicely, its a prestigious match, for a prestigious event like this, but I don't think you should make it longer, if again Frank gets out of there via cheating is just getting stale, you need to pull the trigger now, so BBS beats him, which positions him on top of the main event by beating the last heel champion, and sets him in the collision course of Reed, and the empire title, is finally time for them to feud for the title, it also makes perfect sense in a cosmic sense, like it was this time one year ago, Frank got a push it wasnt supposed to be his, but circumstances had him in the right place at the right time, and that gave him the role of the top heel in the company undoubletly, a run with the championship, a champion vs champion spectacular and feuding with the top two faces in the company, but he has been getting slower and he is getting more tired, age is catching up to him, so is time for him to put over the next generation like was the plan before USPW came knocking, and leave way for the new generation while he gets in a new role like a veteran gatekeeper or a tag team, just beggining to slide down the card.</em></p><p> </p><p>

The Aces Of Mayhem vs <strong>The Boys From Yukon ©</strong></p><p>

[NYCW Tag Team Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>This could be an upset more with the positioning of the match so close to the doctors match, but I dont think we have seen this story develop fully, also I feel the tag team titles are the titles that have changed hands more times in this save, or at least the more closer to each other, so I feel the title needs a little stability and they are strong enough and menacing enough to make them keeping the titles for a long time be credible, I think The Aces are going to be one of the top tag teams in NYCW, and they could very well be the ones to end the reign of the champs, but that isnt tonight, they arent ready, they need to grow a little bit as a team in credibility and overness and then they can win the titles and it would be fine.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Ring Generals</strong> vs The Wasteland Warriors (Mutant & Bull Wrecker)</p><p>

[Open Challenge Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Mutant is a good prospect but he usually needs a lot of work and Bull Wrecker is somewhat past his prime and over the hill, I dont think this is the team that beats the generals, as their unbeaten streak continures.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Animal Harker & Jebediah</strong> vs Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor O'Haire</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Harker and Jebediah right now are your top face team, they need to get some big wins, so what bigger than to beat an undefeated champion, but the one getting the pinfall will be O'Haire, that way Prisoner is technically undefeated but I think seeing him lose is going to be a nice sight for the fans, as Harker and Jebediah continue to build up steam to carry the tag division.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Steve Flash</strong> vs Philippe LaGrenier</p><p> </p><p>

<em>This is just a bounce back match after losing both of his titles Flash needs to estabilize himself, and return to top form, even more now i know he inst on delcine yet, so theres no loss in keeping booking him strong, because even if he enters decline it will take years before it gets serious, so it seems we have steve flash for a long time.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Riley McManus</strong> vs Man Mountain Cahill</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Now this is an upset I want to see happen, last week we saw a new side from McManus, and I think he is going to get a shock flash win over cahill, that will give him some instant credibility, and it doesnt hurt Cahill if booked strongly, but this is what he serves better for to put over the real future main eventers on any prospect but the ones who surely are paving their way to the top and with defeats rare for Cahill if he losses its worth a lot.</em></p>
