[From The Depths] MLWA - Classic Canadian Wrestling

I'm really excited about this - for those of you who aren't familiar with MLWA, they're a fed in the AMAZING From The Depths mod by jhd1 and MJStark, which I'm absolutely loving. I'm trying a 'new' writing style, and by 'new' I mean 'heavily inspired by Self's awesome diaries and by tips he, and others, wrote in the tip thread from many years ago'.

I'm going to do a roster post with the basic sizes/styles/gimmicks since I'm assuming characters will be unfamiliar to a large proportion of readers (although, seriously, go download the mod, it's incredible!) After that, things will be pretty much solely 'as seen on TV' apart from a brief notes post after each show with a quick run down of notable stuff in the matches, along with grades.

Also my wife, who I don't think has ever seen a wrestling match (despite my efforts!) is suddenly super into TEW, mainly as a result of me reading stuff out from CGC 2019: The Show Must Go On and has decided she has creative control over this one. Any REALLY weird decisions can probably be blamed on her.

Oh, as for the fed itself - it's a Cult level Canadian fed, by far the biggest of the five companies in Canada. Nearest competitors in this country are regional-level Association de Lutte Pro de Quebec, but realistically, there's far more danger from the International Wrestling Federation, the 14-year-old American upstart. Since its founding in 1977 (database is set in 1991) it's destroyed the territorial system and with their TV shows and events already being shown in Canada rumour has it they're turning their sights to the north.

Product is Key: Mainstream, Heavy: Traditional, Medium: Comedy.

Tune in to MLWA Canadian Wrestling for the fall-out from last week's incredible Canadian Classic! We'll hear from Rip Bella, who shockingly lost to Nikolai Zhukov, and from Zhukov's no-doubt unbearably smug manager Perry Davis. We'll see the tag team titles up for grabs as The Medicine Men defend against former champions Nathan Radd and Keith Banks. And in a rare solo outing on TV for World Heavyweight champion Alex Cavallo, he'll issue a non-title open challenge - who will accept?</p><p> </p><p>

Okay, so I'm not doing full previews or predictions. But I'm going to try asking a question each time for people to answer if they want.</p><p> </p><p>

So, question 1.<strong> Of the pictured superstars in the roster round-up post, who would you most like to see a feature about on an upcoming show?</strong> (I have shows 1 and 2 done but will work someone's choice into one in the near-future.)</p>

Obviously Rip Bella. But I'd love to see Robbie McKay feature.

Are you taking odds on how long it takes for Jefferson Spitfire to make his debut?

I'm very excited for this as well. TEW has helped my wife get into wrestling too! She now occasionally makes graphics and stuff for my diaries because she's gotten into it so much (she's the one who made all of the poster templates for The Climb and all of the graphics for FCW.

Thanks for all the comments so far, everyone!

Awesome! And she does an amazing job. :)

Good start. I think on something like this you go with the biggest star (i.e. the champ) or the guy who has massive momentum and will be a focus going forward.

Zhukov or Cavallo for me.

Agreed - Cavallo is first episode. :) (Edit: Oops, actually second.)

Man this looks amazing. Loving the roster and backstory. I have tried the mod out, is there a lot of workers and future debuts? Is it mostly complete?

34 promotions, 1669 workers active at start and 1856 altogether, so a decent amount yet to debut! It's my first game playing with it but it's AMAZING so far.

Of the pictured superstars in the roster round-up post, who would you most like to see a feature about on an upcoming show?

Obviously Rip Bella. But I'd love to see Robbie McKay feature.

Are you taking odds on how long it takes for Jefferson Spitfire to make his debut?

I haven't been scouting other guys that much (there are 4 I'm bringing in over the next few months, but the aim is to work closely with the current roster) but just checked out Spitfire who looks GREAT - thanks!

Show to follow tomorrow, I think...

Sat, Week 1, June 1991

Attendance: 2000 SELL-OUT

Shown on Newbury National Network

Wyatt Mireault: Welcome, fans! I'm Wyatt Mireault, this is my broadcast partner Archie Morris; we’re here at MLWA Canadian Wrestling and we have all the fall-out from last week’s MLWA Canadian Classic for you!

Archie Morris: That’s right! Rip Bella and Perry Davis will BOTH speak on the outcome of Bella’s match with Nikolai Zhukov. In addition, we have a rare solo appearance from Alex Cavallo, who defended his World Championship title against The Sniper, and has said he’ll issue an open challenge for a non-title match in our main event, and RIGHT NOW Nathan Radd and Keith Banks cash in the Tag title shot they won last week.

WM: Hold that thought! We’ve got that match coming very soon, but it looks like Rip Bella is ready to speak first!

wSIKOTI.jpg

[Huge pop from the crowd as Rip Bella, looking furious, storms down to the ring mic in hand.]

Pxbchhl.jpg

Bella: ZHUKOV! I been better than you every time we met, Zhukov, until last night! I done pinned you in tag matches, I done pinned you in six mans, I done pinned you in three-ways and four-ways! And then last night, in our first one on one match for years, you pinned me.

But you couldn’t do it clean, could you, Zhukov? You only pinned me because I was checking on David, after that lowdown dirty rat Perry Davis popped him between the legs! What kind of a daddy does that to his own son? Perry Davis, don’t you want grandchildren?

Zhukov, you may have won last night, but this one isn’t over. I been better than you for months, you dirty rat, and I’m gonna prove it one on one just as soon as you’re man enough to face me again!

THE MEDICINE MEN vs NATHAN RADD and KEITH BANKS

WM: The Medicine Men coming off a win last night, much to the fans’ delight.

AM: You’re a poet, and you don’t know it, Wyatt! Radd and Banks are a tough prospect though, they’ve held the belts twice already in their MLWA careers.

The champions start this one off strongly, using their many years of experience together to isolate Banks and work him over with technical wizardry, focusing their attacks on his right leg. It’s a strategy which looks sound until Nathan Radd, picking his timing perfectly, slips into the ring and blindsides Montegue with a knee to the back. Banks takes full advantage to gain the momentum, and now it’s the challengers’ turn to showcase their vast experience together. Quick tags-a-plenty follow, along with a lot of borderline legal tactics, and for a while they seem to have control. But Montegue capitalises on a mistake as they go for a double clothesline, and makes the hot tag! Joel Gethin Jr is in like a house on fire! European uppercuts-a-go-go, and he looks dominant, but eventually Radd fights back. From there, it’s an even bout, which could go either way, but eventually Radd drops Gethin with a DDT, tags out to Banks, and the challengers hit their spiked piledriver finisher. Montegue’s attempted save is cut off by Radd, and we have new champions!

Winners and NEW Tag Team Champions: NATHAN RADD AND KEITH BANKS!

Profile: Alvin Lockleah

V/O: Alvin Lockleah could be said to be one of the greatest wrestlers in the world today. Over the course of his 23-year career, Lockleah has had more 5-star matches than just about anyone else in North American wrestling currently active.

Alex Cavallo: Do I like the guy? Not now, no. Do I think that anytime he gets in the ring, it’s going to be a good match? Yeah, for sure.

But Lockleah doesn’t care about 5-star matches. Lockleah wants to win titles. And that 23-year career has seen very few of them. Only 3, and his shock World Heavyweight title win on the day he debuted in MLWA as a mystery opponent for Nikolai Zhukov was meant – in his eyes – to be his big chance to dominate a federation.

Angelo Esposito: Yeah, when we got the opportunity to pick an opponent for Zhukov, we kept trying to decided who to go for, you know. And we thought hey, we’ll surprise him. I mean, you could say that worked too well for us…

Things started well for Lockleah. Alex Cavallo and Angelo Esposito brought him in as a ‘pick your poison’ opponent for Zhukov, and he sensationally won the title rather than just weakening the Russian. He’d defend against Cavallo in arguably last year’s match of the year in MLWA, and the fans responded warmly to him, especially when The Boss raised his hand and applauded him.

Then Rip Bella happened.

Rip Bella: Lockleah! I done thought he was a cool guy, but I was wrong! He was another rat! Even worse, he was a rat in sheep’s clothing! The way he beat on me after I took his title… but he couldn’t take it back, could he? There ain’t no rat that can get the better of Rip Bella, y’all see!

Bella won the title from Lockleah in a shockingly quick match last July. After the match, Lockleah grabbed the belt and looked like he was going to present it to the new champion – only to smash it into his face. The fans booed, Bella was furious, and Lockleah came up short in the rematch.

Lockleah hasn’t been back in the World title picture since. Sure, he’s had some great matches. But he’s made it clear he’d trade all the praise he gets for his wrestling ability for one more shot at that World belt, now held by Alex Cavallo. If he gets it, then he’s going to do anything it takes to win it back, and hold it for longer this time.

ULYSSES SAVATIER vs STEFAN PERNIER

WM: Pernier getting a shot at the TV title may seem surprising, as he’s more known for his tag prowess, but there’s getting to be few people outside the main event who Savatier hasn’t already beaten in this 7 month reign as champion!

AM: You have to wonder how Savatier does it! It’s his sixth reign with the TV title, and somehow they keep getting better and better.

After Pernier’s manager Perry Davis does his usual opening spiel of using his giant protractor to measure the angle between the mat and the top rope to check it falls under Canadian wrestling guidelines, Savatier opens this up with some hard right hands. Pernier struggles and resorts to cheating tactics; barely a surprise for one of Davis’s charges but it’s even more blatant than usual. At one point, Davis leaps to the ring apron and pokes Savatier in the back with that trusty protractor, stopping his momentum. Referee Martin Belfolk gives him a warning but he continues to interfere whenever possible, and at one point Savatier has to ask the ref NOT to throw this one out, saying he wants the pinfall victory. As Savatier, Belfolk and Davis argue, Pernier sneaks up behind the champion and rolls him up – only for Savatier to roll through and get the three count to defend.

Winner and STILL Television champion: ULYSSES SAVATIER!

wSIKOTI.jpg

Post-match, Pernier shows himself to be a sore loser, attacking Savatier, and tag partner Pasqual Grenier heads down to join in. Even Davis gets in a few quick kicks, until the cavalry arrive, in the form of Rip Bella and Michelle Audrey! The team formerly known as The Super Maniacs, prior to Bella’s massive push which has left Audrey somewhat by the wayside, are out together and chase off the heels.

wSIKOTI.jpg

Robbie McKay is backstage, ready to address the crowd.

lGoJZxl.jpg

McKay: Ah always say, ah’m nae a man fer bitchin’ and whinin’. But ye’re aff yer heid if ye think dunderheads like Canadian Youth, Jez Matthews and Michelle Aubrey deserved to be rasslin' on the Canadian Classic show while yer man Robbie McKay was sat down watching! Ah ken more about rasslin' than any of those wee scunners have ever kenned in their life, so ah widnae be in my right mind if I wasnae ready to kick off aboot it! So here’s what ah’m gonna do aboot it. Ah’m gonna challenge any of those three, come on down next week, and ah’ll kick yer wee backside. That’s what ah’m thinking. And if yis doesnae like it, awa’ and bile yer heid!

EVOLUTION vs DANTE GRAHAM

WM: Evolution has been conspicuous by his absence recently, while the Graham Twins came up short in tag action yesterday as they challenged for The Medicine Men’s titles.

AM: Couldn’t have happened to a nicer pair of guys, Wyatt. After the way they cheated their way into the number one contenders match, then benefitted from some very slow counts in that match, I’m glad they didn’t get the belts.

WM: I agree with you there, Archie. Speaking of slow counts, Leroy Myers, who refereed the match you referred to, is in charge here as well.

Evolution – the green faced maniac from a lost tribe – starts this one strongly, with a ton of prehistoric punches leaving Graham reeling. A blatant eyepoke from Graham is seen by virtually everyone in Ontario, the exception being referee Leroy Myers, who claims to have missed it completely as Evolution screams in his broken English at him while selling the damage. With his opponent unable to see, Graham takes over with a vicious beatdown, only for Evolution to gain control back again when he reverses a piledriver attempt with a huge backdrop. The fans cheer as Evolution takes over, but he accidentally catches Myers with a Caveman Clothesline after Graham ducks. Myers hits the ground so hard that his wooden right hand falls off, and as Evolution checks on him, Graham picks up the prosthesis and clocks his opponent with it. A groggy Myers comes around and makes the count, using his left hand, before picking his right hand up and putting it back in.

Winner: DANTE GRAHAM!

wSIKOTI.jpg

Perry Davis is out with a mic, and has something to say to the crowd.

CLvCgJW.jpg

Perry: Last week, the fraudulent heroes of the MLWA lined up to try and stop us. And they failed! My lamentable miscreant of a son couldn’t stop us… Those two blundering chiefs couldn’t stop us… and even the apparently transcendent Rip Bella, supposedly the future of MLWA, couldn’t stop us. In just a few hours we took one colossal step closer to getting the tag titles, a stupendous step closer to the World title, and if we had one more exceptional specimen of virility like the three men in our corner, you have to know that we’d be coming for the Television title too… not with a languorous attempt like Stefan Grenier’s earlier, but with the single-minded focus with which we apply ourselves to our most important goals.

[A long, long, pause.]

In fact, why wait? Next week, we will debut the fourth in our incomparable assemblage. This syndicate will be completed with the arrival of the final member of our quartet, yet another peerless competitor in a federation already far inferior to us. Because I am the most magnificent manager in professional wrestling, my men are the most exceptional talent available, and the rest of you are humble peons who should prostrate yourselves before us.

wSIKOTI.jpg

After Davis walks away from the ring, he's replaced by someone far more popular with the crowd - 'The Boss' Alex Cavallo!

NzCYnuc.jpg

Alex: Last week, I fought The Sniper, in an all-out war. Kind of appropriate, when you think about it. Sniper, I’m gonna give you credit. People told me that I had that match in the bag, that you were a dreamer fantasising about dress-up games, that you weren’t in my league. But I knew that wasn’t the case.

Sniper, underneath that make-up, I believe you’re very much in my league. But you’re not quite at the top of it. You know why? Because The Boss is at the top. And are you The Boss?

[He shakes his head.]

I don’t think so… but let’s check. WHO’S THE BOSS?

[He raises his mic to the crowd, who respond rapturously “YOU’RE THE BOSS.]

That’s what I thought.

Sniper, you gave me a great battle last night, and as far as I’m concerned, you want another shot in the future, I’d be glad to give you one. But who’s next in line? I have to be honest, I don’t know. But I do want some action. So while the top brass won’t let me put the title on the line tonight, unfortunately, they HAVE said I can issue this open challenge. Anyone want to skip to the top of the queue for a shot? If you think you have what it takes to beat The Boss, come on down!

Familiar music plays, and out walks Le Puma Canadien!

criTQ7m.jpg

Cavallo: You want a shot, my friend? For someone as decorated as you, I’d say you can probably get to the top of the queue just by asking, but if you want to go for it right here, let’s give this crowd something spectacular to see!

Puma: Mon frere, you flatter me. But I ask not for moi. No, my young friend Canadian Youth wants to get in the ring with his idol. So what do you say, Alex?

9muR7NJ.jpg

Cavallo: Let’s do this!

ALEX CAVALLO vs CANADIAN YOUTH

WM: It’s always great to see The Boss in action, and since he won the title, the guys in charge here have generally had him wrestling in tag action when he DOES fight on TV. A singles match here is a rare treat for both us AND the fans.

AM: Alex Cavallo is a legend of the sport, no doubt, and I love watching him. But I have to say, Canadian Youth has REALLY impressed me recently despite his loss last night. This kid could go a long, long way.

In marked contrast to the other matches seen tonight, this is conducted in a respectful spirit. We start off with a collar and elbow tie-up, which Cavallo wins, then the pair both get to hit some nice moves as Puma and Cavallo’s manager Angelo Esposito applaud on the outside. Youth takes control with a huge enziguri and there’s a couple of moments where the crowd seem to believe he could win this one, but Cavallo regains the upper hand when he reverses a submission hold attempt to end up on top. From there, he goes for an Irish whip, which Youth reverses…

“You don’t want to do that to Alex Cavallo!”, chimes in Archie Morris, and Cavallo shows why. He leaps to the second turnbuckle, and yells to the crowd “WHO’S THE BOSS?” As the dutiful reply “YOU’RE THE BOSS!” roars back, Cavallo hurls himself off and meets the charging Youth with a flying double axhandle. Youth staggers backwards, and falls victim to a leg sweep. From there, the story’s a familiar one to all MLWA fans. Elbow drop to the gut! Another to the head! Cavallo picks his opponent up – kick to the gut! JUMPING PILEDRIVER! One, two, THREE. The Boss wins yet again.

Winner: ALEX CAVALLO!

wSIKOTI.jpg

NzCYnuc.jpg9muR7NJ.jpgcriTQ7m.jpg

Post-match, Le Puma Canadien comes into the ring and both he and Canadian Youth raise Cavallo's hand in celebration, as the crowd applauds the three men.

AM: That's all from us tonight, fans! But check back next week...

WM: Indeed! Perry Davis has promised he'll have a new man joining his stable, Robbie McKay's challenge has been issued to any of three people, and we're just hearing that there'll be an announcement about the World Championship match at Cage Match Clash in a little over five weeks' time! For a sneak preview of that announcement, you can call the MLWA Wrestling Hotline! See you next week, folks!

wSIKOTI.jpg

Feedback would be very welcome! Also, two questions.

The fans LOVED the Rip Bella promo even more than usual, he had them eating out of the palm of his hands. A great way to open the show.</p><p> </p><p>

Tag match was a very good first match; in particular the faces look super-smooth together.</p><p> </p><p>

TV title match was perfectly acceptable although it’s clear that Perry Davis is the star of his stable, at least when compared to guys like Pernier, who’s never been particularly good and is now growing old as well.</p><p> </p><p>

Graham vs Evolution was something of a snoozer, going too long for Dante, and arguably coming too late in his career for Evolution, who’s lost several steps over the past years.</p><p> </p><p>

Cavallo vs Youth was a decent enough main; a rare chance for Cavallo to wrestle in singles action without giving away anything that’s going to feature on a big show for us any time soon. That’s not to say Youth won’t get to the main event eventually, though. Alex made him look nearly on his level in this one and he has a LOT of time on his side, while LPC hyping the crowd up for him is really boosting his standing.</p><p> </p><p>

OOC: Changed format up a little - partly inspired by Charismatic Enigma's AMAZING NYCW diary - what do you think, everyone?

MLWA Canadian Wrestling

Sat, Week 2, June 1991

Nanaimo Complex, British Columbia

Attendance: 2000 SELL-OUT

Shown on Newbury National Network

etQX7Wz.jpgrnusLqJ.jpg

Wyatt Mireault: Welcome, fans! I'm Wyatt Mireault, this is my broadcast partner Archie Morris; we’re here at MLWA Canadian Wrestling and we’re set for another amazing episode of the show for you!

AM: The big news that you may have heard if you called our hotline at the end of the last show – there will be an 8-man tournament starting tonight to determine who gets the shot at Alex Cavallo’s World Heavyweight title at the Cage Match Clash in five weeks’ time!

WM: That’s right, and here tonight in that tournament’s first round, Big Chief Tahoe takes on Alvin Lockleah while Tahoe’s tag partner Chief Joshua Silverbow goes against The Sniper.

Archie Morris: Last week, Ulysses Savatier defended his Television title against Stefan Pernier – he got the win, but got jumped by Pernier’s Foreign Legion partner Sylvan Grenier and their stablemate Nikolai Zhukov, with Perry Davis directing traffic!

WM: Things looked bad for the TV champion until Rip Bella and Michelle Aubrey, Bella’s former Super Maniacs partner, made the save! For one night only, the Super Maniacs reunite to team with Savatier to take on the Legion and Zhukov.

AM: But next week, Bella will FACE Aubrey. Aubrey won that big four-way match back at the Classic, giving him any match of his choice except for a World title match. He’s picked a tournament match and he’s specially requested Rip Bella as his opponent, saying he wants to measure himself up against his former partner.

WM: Will their team be as smooth as they’ll need to be to have a chance against Davis’s stable?

AM: And in addition, Perry Davis said last week he had a fourth man joining tonight. No word on that yet, but when Perry Davis says something like that, he ALWAYS delivers.

WM: Unfortunately, you’re right!

Big Chief Tahoe: Last night, Wakan Tanka sent me a dream. In my dream, I saw the Red Nation rise. I saw men like Rip Bella and Alex Cavallo, honourable men who have been allies of the Sioux, stand beside us as we heal this sick world. And I saw men like Alvin Lockleah and The Sniper, foolish men who have been beguiled by Iktomi, fall away and be left to perish.

</p>

Lockleah, Sniper, it is not too late for you! Turn away from the trickster god. We will fight today, and my dream says that the Red Nation will win. But if you fight us with honour, then afterwards, we will embrace you, regardless of the result. If you use Iktomi’s ploys and tricks… there will be a reckoning. So Wakan Tanka says it, and so it shall be.

BIG CHIEF TAHOE vs ALVIN LOCKLEAH

AM: Here we go! This pair are kicking off the World title number 1 contender's tournament, and between Tahoe's size and Lockleah's experience, you'd have to put them as two of the favourites.

WM: Definitely! But then there's Ric Bella's explosiveness, Le Puma Canadien's all-round excellence, the advantages that Gulam Singh and Perry Davis give their men... Archie, can they ALL be favourites?

At the start, it looks like Lockleah’s taken Tahoe’s words to heart, and the first few minutes of this one are wrestled competitively but fairly. However Tahoe’s tomahawk chops are clearly giving him an advantage here, and Lockleah starts to get frustrated, eventually stopping the chief from building momentum via his war dance by grabbing a handful of hair to slow him to a halt. From there, Lockleah takes over, and his mat skills prove to much for the Native American, who falls victim to a Russian legsweep then an impact DDT before Lockleah locks in a Boston Crab to take the victory.

</p>
Winner: ALVIN LOCKLEAH!

So I was watching last week’s show, and it got me to thinking. See, our esteel... exteem... exst... ah, screw it! Our well-known commentators said that Ulysses Savatier was running outta people to defend his TV title against.

</p>

Hey, Ulysses. Try me. I beat Michelle Aubrey, I beat Jez Matthews, I beat Evolution, but somehow, all of those guys have had title shots in the last few months. What have I got? Just like usual, nada.

</p>

I heard you say a while ago that you wanted to be a fighting champion. To defend your belt every 2 weeks. I know you’re in tag team action tonight, so I guess that means you have a vacancy for next week. How about it, Ulysses? Are you gonna take me on? Or are you just a gutless coward?

You say the Red Nation will rise, Big Chief Tahoe? Well, you may think that, but this man to the side of me has experience when it comes to nations rising. For years, when the British government wanted a rebellion put down, or a troublesome leader put in his place, they called in The Sniper. Since the fall of the British Empire, he has turned his talents to taking out wrestlers. Two weeks ago, he was close to bringing home Alex Cavallo’s World title. Somehow, Cavallo escaped with the belt. Next time, he will not be so lucky. Tonight, he starts preparing for his second shot at Cavallo. Tonight, he gets ready to bring back the gold. And tonight, just like so many of the British Empire’s opponent’s found out, it’s a bad night to be on the Sniper’s bad side.

Profile: Alex Cavallo

He came in as the Italian Stallion, and he was a top star. Because of his size, he was quickly renamed the Italian Warhorse, and he became perhaps THE top star. But over the past couple of years he has been mostly known simply as the Boss — and he has become an MLWA legend.

When asked what people loved most about Alex Cavallo, his friend Le Puma Canadien had a simple answer.

LPC: Everything

He’s right. From Cavallo’s easy-going charisma, and the out of this world connection he has to Canadian fans, to his raw power and the incredible athleticism he displays for a man of his size, the Boss is a man of many talents.

Rip Bella: ALEX! I done learned more from you than I learned from my own daddy, my man! You are a legend in this sport. And I hope we meet one on one, at least once, before you retire. Because to be the very best, I need to beat the very best. And I ain’t got no doubt, Alex. You are the absolute best.

For now, anyway.

If Cavallo had one weakness, it was a tendency for his temper to flare up. As storied as his career was over his first decade or so here, on the few occasions he did lose, it was because someone had made him lose control and then taken advantage of his rage. Ever focusing on getting better, Cavallo surprised his friends by taking up meditation.

Joel Gethin Jr: The first time I saw him doing it, I just laughed. But then he persuaded us to join in. And darn, it really works.

Cavallo can still be roused to anger. Mostly by injustice, cowardice, or disrespect from MLWA’s great fans. But somehow, he seems to get himself back under control before anyone can take advantage of it as they used to. With all of his trademark power and athleticism, more experience than all but a couple of men in the company, and the calm he’s displayed over the last few years, it’s tough to see just who’s going to take that belt away from him.

LE PUMA CANADIEN and CANADIAN YOUTH vs THE DYNA-MIGHTS

WM: Le Puma Canadien is wrestling next week in the World title tournament, but his pairing with Canadian Youth has been massively successful over recent months – could they be looking at tag team title shots soon?

AM: That’s definitely been talked about as a possibility! LPC has two tag team title reigns already; could his young protégé get his first taste of gold?

Puma starts here and is fighting hard, with the Dyna-Mights complaining about blows to the face that they say are closed fists. The referee warns him, and Kevin Kyle takes advantage of this to grab him from behind and allow his partner Hank, the legal man, to gain momentum. It doesn’t last long, though, with the Puma proving too tough for the rulebreakers, and he eventually makes the hot tag.

Canadian Youth is in like a house on fire, and scores the Maple Leaf Meltdown (cutter) on Kyle for the victory.

Winners: LE PUMA CANADIEN and CANADIAN YOUTH!

[Alex Cavallo is out to talk to the fans for the second time in two weeks.]

Alex: Last week, I said I didn’t know who I’d be facing at Cage Match Clash. Now, I have more of an idea. It’s down to six men. The Sniper and Alvin Lockleah, who fought and won their matches earlier today. Can’t say I liked either of their tactics, but they’re a pair of great competitors and they’ve been World champions previously; I’d be a fool to underestimate either.

Likewise, Nikolai Zhukov is in action next week. Again, I don’t like how he wins, but he’s a man with a huge amount of strength, he knows how to use it, and he has a manager in his corner who’s one of the most dangerous people in the MLWA.

Moving onto people I don’t just respect, but I also like. Le Puma Canadien – mon frere – last week, I fought your protégé, and the kid gave me a heck of a match. I know from our past encounters that if I face you next month, you’ll run me even closer. Michelle Aubrey, someone who hasn’t had much luck recently, but picked up a big win to get a match of his choice. Michelle, when you choose that match to be against Rip Bella – that takes guts, man. I’ve teamed with you once or twice in the past, I know that you’re better than the last year or so has shown. Rest assured that if you win this thing, I won’t take you lightly.

And then Rip Bella himself. MY protégé. The guy I brought into the MLWA, the guy I’ve teamed with on numerous occasions, and one of the few guys here I’ve never faced one on one. I hope Puma and Michelle, especially, don’t take offense to this, but Rip, I kinda hope it’s you. Because in my mind, there’s no doubt. You ARE the next generation of the MLWA. You’re a former champion, but you’re also a future legend. But are you the Boss?

[He turns to the crowd.]

Alex: WHO’S THE BOSS?

Crowd: YOU’RE THE BOSS!

Alex: Just checking. Not yet, you’re not. At least… I hope not.

RIP BELLA, MICHELLE AUBREY AND ULYSSES SAVATIER vs PASQUAL GRENIER, STEFAN PERNIER AND NIKOLAI ZHUKOV

AM: Rip Bella, who along with Aubrey saved Savatier from a beatdown at the hands of Perry Davis’s men last week, looks like he’s ready to take on everyone else at once here! Bella screams at Zhukov to get in there with him, but Perry Davis is telling Stefan to start things off instead.

WM: Davis is perhaps the master at NOT giving his opponent what they want.

AM: Speaking of Perry Davis, this is our main event, and still no sign of his fourth man. Do you think something fell through, Wyatt?

WM: Maybe. But in general, if Perry Davis says something is going to happen, he delivers…

Bella and Pernier start off, and Bella dominates with hard right hands and other big strikes. He hurls the French-Canadian to his corner, yelling at Zhukov to come in and fight, but it’s Grenier who makes the tag. As Bella bounces off the ropes to attempt his trademark spear, he gets kicked in the back by Zhukov, and the momentum shifts to the heels.

Miles loses control of this one at fairly frequent intervals, generally to the benefit of Davis’s team, and it’s during one of those intervals, with Bella and Zhukov brawling on the outside, that Perry’s fourth man makes his presence known…

nzOtU74.jpg

WM: That’s Titan Zeus!!

AM: Titan Zeus, one of the hottest and most dangerous free agents in wrestling, is charging down to ringside!

And, indeed, into the ring. Grabbing Savatier’s Television title on the way in, Zeus smashes it into the champion’s face, before grabbing him and unleashing a massive Titan Bomb on top of the belt. The ref frantically calls for the DQ – although Davis, on the outside, looks supremely unbothered by the loss – and Aubrey tries to make the save, only to be caught. As Zhukov slides a chair into the ring, Aubrey takes a Titan Bomb of his own, crashing down onto that unforgiving steel.

Winners by disqualification: RIP BELLA, MICHELLE AUBREY and ULYSSES SAVATIER!

Pxbchhl.jpgnzOtU74.jpg

Finally, though, Bella has broken through the rest of Davis’s stable, taking advantage of Zhukov sliding that chair into the ring to grab the big Russian from behind and slam him head first into the ringpost. Howling with rage, Bella leaps into the ring, staggering Zeus with a flying clothesline, and the pair start to blast away at each other with huge right hands. Security comes out, as do Alex Cavallo, Le Puma Canadien, Canadian Youth, and the Medicine Men, and eventually the two are separated, but as a smirking Perry Davis and his quartet leave, it’s clear to see that the new signing has had a massive impact.

</div>

wSIKOTI.jpg

AM: I can’t believe it! Titan Zeus is in MLWA! What does this mean for the future of Perry Davis’s stable?

WM: Davis said last week that he was bringing someone in to go after the Television title, and that massive powerbomb by Zeus just left Ulysses Savatier, the champion, looking seriously hurt. Surely he can’t be rewarded with a shot?

AM: I don’t know, Wyatt! But what I DO know is we have two huge World title number 1 contender qualifiers, as Rip Bella takes on Michelle Audrey…

WM: Who ALSO just took a massive blow from the monstrous Titan Zeus! Does that give Bella an advantage?

AM: Not one he’d want, I’m sure, but it has to, doesn’t it?

WM: And in the other quarter-final, Le Puma Canadien, who we saw get the win in tag team action tonight, goes against Zeus’s stablemate Nikolai Zhukov! Who’ll be joining The Sniper and Alvin Lockleah in the semis? Tune in next week to find out! And breaking news! Savatier apparently DID accept Rick Roach's challenge to a TV title match next week - but will he recover enough to compete? Phone our hotline throughout the week for regular updates!

Question: Other than the world title match, is there any other match you’re expecting/hoping to see at the big show in 4 weeks’ time yet?

Question 2: Thoughts on new formatting?

<strong>Notes:</strong></p><p> </p><p>

While there’s no question that Lockleah vs Tahoe would have been better a decade or so ago with both men in or near their prime, the pair put on a match far superior to anything than we could ever have expected – they seem to have a really great understanding of each other’s way of wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

Tahoe’s tag partner, Joshua Silverbow, on the other hand, had an off night and the Sniper couldn’t cover for it. Still not a terrible match, but disappointing.</p><p> </p><p>

The two faces in the tag match really looked outstanding together, with a ton of natural chemistry between Canadian Youth and his mentor. The Dyna-Mights may not have that level of natural understanding, but they’ve been teaming together for so long that they have a great routine of well-worked double-teams and everyone in this one looked good.</p><p> </p><p>

Rip Bella had an off night in the six-man tag, while it’s easy to forget – given his massive push – just how much our fans dislike Nikolai Zhukov. Sure, part of that is the gimmick getting him heel heat, but a worryingly large amount is just that they don’t want to see him wrestle. Add in Aubrey being thrown back into the main event for storyline purposes, having lost a ton of matches over the last nine months, and this was a disappointing end to the show. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Question: Callers to the MLWA Hotline have been told that Ulysses Savatier HAS been medically cleared to defend his TV title against Rick Roach, but the co-owners have stated that it would be unfair to expect him to do so after the brutal assault. Will Savatier defend the belt? And if so, will he retain? </strong></p>
