For One To Create Stars, You Must First Be.. A Star. [C-VERSE]

Recommended Posts

It was noon. I was sitting on my front porch lazily rocking back and forth in a chair, staring at the countryside. Everything was... peaceful, and there was a certain air of tranquility that was just pleasing to me. Life, life was good.

That was when I stood up, looking around once more. I grabbed the cup o' joe sitting on the railing of my porch and smashed it against the ground. I couldn't do this anymore. I headed inside and grabbed the family phone. I dialed the number. The number I never dreamed of having to dial again.

???: "Christian? Jesus, is that you?"

"Yes, Jerry, it's me. Listen, I was hoping to ask your advice for something.."

DKxoycx.jpg

Jerry: "Anything, Christian.. whaddya need?"

"How does one go about setting up their own company, Jerry?"

NEW ENGLAND WRESTLING!

"The launchpad to the big leagues..."

A/N: Just imagine a world where Christian Faith started a company like MAW . So, on the road to TEW2020 I've decided I might as well replicate that scenario to give me a lengthy save to play while I count down the minutes until 2020's release. I also decided I might as well share this idea with the wonderful viewing eyes of you guys who decide to read, so I hope you enjoy it and I don't embarrass myself :D

-Ciao,

This rando on the internet.

It took a few weeks, but I was finally able to set up New England Wrestling, with some secret help from Jerry and good old Pete Michaels - although Michaels respectfully declined my offer to work with NEW as our lead announcer.

I sat down in my brand new office, bought with my own hard cash, and looked at the files in front of me. I had compiled what I thought was a solid mix of veterans and unknown, young upstarts that I would try and launch into the stratosphere. I knew the veterans would be good, solid hands who would help the younger guys develop: Brendan Idol, Cal Sanders, Ford Gumble and Harry Allen. I also knew some of these younger guys seemed destined for glory: Austin Smooth, Jack Avatar, Raphael, and the Dynamite Express - Cameron Jones and Syd Collier.

I made the phone calls, set up the deals and within a week the debut NEW roster was set in stone.

<span style="font-size:12px;">During the month of January, #1 American company United States Pro Wrestling (USPW) looked into bolstering their roster size - and did just that, hiring many beloved independent workers including Nelson Callum, Roger Cage, Masked Cougar, Greg Black, Hell's Bouncer, Kirk Jameson and Fox Mask. We wish them all the best of luck on their future endeavors with the company (though we don't have the best of faith in them.)</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-size:12px;">SWF, during January, called up several of its developmental wrestlers, including: Masked Patriot, Ekuma, Emmy, Primus Allen, Kristen Pearce and Lassana Makutsi. <span style="font-size:12px;">Ralph Liotta, a young, good looking worker from the US who had recently been making a name for himself in MAW alongside Johnny Needham, had quit the promotion following the Rip Chord Invitational XI. <span style="font-size:12px;">New York City Wrestling (NYCW) and Coastal Zone Combat Wrestling (CZCW) owners, Larry Vessey and Cliff Anderson respectively, met up together in Week 3 of January to sign a new non-aggression pact, meaning that each company will refrain from signing workers housed by the other company and even from promoting events near each other's home region. This struck some as quite odd, considering both promotions are in the US-based Confederation of the Territories (COTT). Could there be ulterior motives?</span></p></div><p></p><p></p>

No Fox Mask and Masked Cougar! You guys need to go to BHOTWG where they'll treat you better! I'm always happy to see Fox Mask get a written deal because he really is just awesome, but am much happier when it's in Japan because working for a major company there is his Dream.

NEW ENGLAND WRESTLING PRESENTS: YOUTH GONE WILD 2016!

614 Fans in Generic Venue, New England, USA

I looked around the 'locker room' area, at the boys getting dressed up and ready to go. Fans were still filtering into the arena. This may be a small-time company, but I've been able to at least make sure we look professional - using my own funds, of course. A little generic, but at the very least, professional.

sI5JTp4.jpg

"Alright, boys!" I called out to them. Each and every one looked at me. "Tonight is the night, tonight is the night that you prove you can go, that you can do it," I paused. "And that you deserve to be here. Now go on out there and show these paying fans what New England Wrestling is all about!" I raised one first in the air triumphantly. Nobody moved. I looked back at them all again. "Yes, I know, I'm terrible at that - probably a surprise to you. Now get on out of here and put on a show!" They all started bustling about, preparing with myself and the referees - Libertine and Lavin, and each other. I sent out a pre-show bout to let the fans now we were about to start - Gumble and Ramone.

PRE-SHOW BOUT:

FORD GUMBLE VS. RICOCHET RAMONE

bg0BVWV.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgWGZqerd.jpg

The two men circled the ring. You could say they were personifications of two separate era's of wrestling - Gumble being a part of the "old breed" in modern wrestling, and Ramone one of the plucky young upstarts with a point to prove and a bone to pick. They fought in a series of brawling, and flashy aerial moves - things both are known for, before about 10 minutes in when Ford Gumble put Ramone away for the 1 2 3 after his trademark Savate Kick.

WINNER: FORD GUMBLE

RATING: 9BkRvPs.jpg

There was a notable lack of chemistry between the two, and the bout stagnated at times. The crowd was into the match, however, so that was a plus, even though both men underperformed. I waited until Ramone and Gumble made it back to the 'backstage' and sent out the crew: Dane O'Hara and Herb Stately, as well as sent out the two men who would open the official show: Cal Sanders and Philippe LaGrenier.

OPENING BOUT:

CAL SANDERS VS. PHILIPPE LAGRENIER

wG8omPG.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgigUucjf.jpg

The bout was a flop as soon as it hit the 5 minute mark. It wasn't the workers' fault, as both of them put on a decent showing, but the crowd simply wasn't invested in them since they had no idea who either man was, and it took away from the in-ring action. Sadly, this was a poor way to start the show, and LaGrenier took home the win after 8 minutes, but at what cost?

WINNER: PHILIPPE LAGRENIER

RATING: rgEOx1J.jpg

We moved right along into the next segment.

ANGLE #1:

STREETZ' MANAGERIAL CATASTROPHE!

OFmOpfs.jpgeHDrrIZ.jpgLxUmW7w.jpgJwElApK.jpgbg0BVWV.jpg

In a series of pre-recorded instances, Streetz is shown to be heading around the backstage area, trying to fast talk people into becoming his clients. After failing with the Mid Atlantic Express and Ford Gumble, he heads to Riley McManus, who doesn't give much of a reaction. Will Streetz find his lucky client by the end of the show?

RATING: IeKsCa9.jpg

That angle seemed to somewhat get us back on track, with the crowd starting to gain interest again. I sent out the next bout, one I was actually extremely excited about.

LOWER MIDCARD BOUT:

THE DYNAMITE EXPRESS VS. THE ROCK CITY STARS w/ OSIRIS FOR THE NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

cqgYZTO.jpg

eHDrrIZ.jpgLxUmW7w.jpg

Jtlo8Gv.jpg

BOkf9Tb.jpggpmtDrD.jpg & qF5DKeB.jpg

The bout was good - the best on the card thus far. The Dynamite Express told a great in-ring story against the Rock City Stars while the Stars & "Rock Princess" Osiris kept the fans entertained with their antics. In the end, the Stars came out on top after 14 minutes when Stan "The Man" Manna pinned Syd Collier following a Rockin' Roller. Our inaugural NEW World Tag Team Champions were now the Rock City Stars!

WINNERS: ROCK CITY STARS w/ OSIRIS (NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS)

RATING: Uom2i0k.jpg

I gave McManus a microphone and told him to head to the ring once the Stars & Express came backstage. He happily obliged and did just that. He had about 5 minutes on the clock.

ANGLE #2:

MCMANUS AGREES!

JwElApK.jpg

McManus headed out to the ring, mic in hand, making sure to get as much out of his entrance as he could. Upon getting to the ring, he paused, looked around at the crowd, and then said this in a low voice: "Streetz, I have come out here..." he paused. "I have come out here to this ring, because I ACCEPT your offer to become my manager!" The crowd looked shocked. "I AM the Arch Competitor of New England Wrestling. I AM and I WILL become the best of the best here in NEW, and I shall do so with your assistance!" McManus paused again, smirking. "And you'll do just that." He dropped the mic, headed out of the ring and walked backstage with his arrogance leaving fans booing. How could a man of such talent stoop so low?

RATING: ZQObLrB.jpg

I was impressed with McManus' performance out there. I decided I'd compliment him after his match later tonight. I sent out the next match: Austin Smooth versus "A-D-B" Arthur Dexter Bradley.

MIDCARD BOUT:

AUSTIN SMOOTH VS. ARTHUR DEXTER BRADLEY

WlTMHhx.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgVHW95uw.jpg

The men countered each other very well, and each performed above my expectations. Smooth was keeping ADB grounded throughout the whole fight, but at the same time ADB kept coming at him with his own arsenal of ground-related attacks and holds. It was a back-and-forth battle but it came to a conclusion at the 10 minute mark when Smooth applied his signature submission: the Smooth Hold.

WINNER: AUSTIN SMOOTH

RATING: ZQObLrB.jpg

The two boys came backstage and I applauded them from a distance, before sending out the next bout, Jack Avatar Vs. Quentin Queen.

MIDCARD BOUT:

JACK AVATAR VS. QUENTIN QUEEN FOR THE NEW AMERICAN TITLE!

KcPJtws.jpg

4aHgMXT.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpg6f5dv25.jpg

This was the longest match on the card thus far. The two men approached the match in a slow, methodical pace, building up from the beginning using a series of brawling tactics and technical wrestling that set the bout apart from the rest that took place already. Then it picked up speed at about the 12 minute mark before Avatar finally put away Queen with an All American Slam.

WINNER: JACK AVATAR (NEW AMERICAN CHAMPION)

RATING: wvRCqct.jpg

They returned backstage covered in sweat, Queen looked mighty disappointed but I assured him his time would come. Avatar held his new American title proudly in his hands as he went and got some refreshments from the backstage fridge. I sent out the next bout, one I had just thrown together on a whim.

UPPER MIDCARD BOUT:

THE GOOD OL' BOYS (LANGTON & FITZPAINE) VS. MELVIN OTTO & BEN WILLIAMS

bwDN2JI.jpgB0og2oI.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpg99hnlqA.jpg & unFgGe5.jpg

Fitzpaine and Williams started off the match, and as soon as that bell rung Fitzpaine was all over Williams. It was quite sad, really, as Williams was unable to get in any offense and Otto just sat in the corner hoping Williams would someday reach him. This never happened, and for 13 minutes the fans watched as Fitzpaine and Langton took turns pretty much killing ol' Benny before Fitzpaine finally put him away with an Iowa Harvest.

WINNERS: THE GOOD OL' BOYS

RATING: 8dRxD6s.jpg

ANGLE #3

THE FAITHFUL ANNOUNCEMENT!

sI5JTp4.jpg

The guys came back and after a few minutes of waiting I grabbed my microphone and headed out to the ring. It was time for the hype of the Main Course. I got to the ring as the fans popped HUGE for my appearance and I had to wait a full two minutes before they calmed down. I looked around. "Alright, alright, it's me." More applause and cheers. "But, I'm not what you paid to see tonight," I paused, bringing some jeering. "You paid to see what I like to call the Main Course of tonights show, because up next you will see four of New England Wrestling's best fighters battle it out in a FIERCE FOUR WAY MATCH! Stay in those seats, because we've got a real classic coming up!" I looked around and paused. "But it'll be a few minutes, so while we prepare to amaze you, be sure to purchase some good old fashioned NEW Merchandise out at the concession stands in the lot!" I winked and left the ring, heading backstage.

RATING: 3AFEJs4.jpg

It took a few minutes to queue up the music and prepare our low-budget lights for the main event. But once we were ready, I had no hesitation. I sent out the guys one by one and told them to have the best match possible.

MAIN EVENT:

BRENDAN IDOL VS. HARRY ALLEN VS. RAPHAEL w/ SWEET TABITHA VS. RILEY MCMANUS FOR THE NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

oIDI3qM.jpg

NbKrOwB.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpg28UMtHj.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgyUjtn7H.jpg & FiX7jht.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgJwElApK.jpg

The bell rung and the four men chose their targets. McManus took on Idol in the ring as Raphael and Allen took their fight to the outside. McManus and Idol went back and forth, applying various holds and submissions until they hit a stalemate, with neither able to conquer the other. That's when Allen joined them in the ring, taking both down and standing tall above them. Raphael also re-entered the ring and was instantly taken down by Allen and sent to the outside to join his manager, Sweet Tabitha. It was noticeable that Tabitha and Raph had no chemistry at all and would have to be taken apart in the future. Allen went back and forth with McManus and Idol respectively before hitting a flying fist drop on both of them. Raphael quickly entered the ring and tried to roll up Allen, who kicked out easily and once again took care of Raphael. Allen, seeing the moment, went for the pin on Riley McManus and... he walked away victorious! Harry Allen had become the inaugural NEW World Heavyweight champion and celebrated as the others walked away looking miserable and pissed. The bout was a staggering 16 minutes long. However, it was unable to top the performance of the Rock City Stars and Dynamite Express from earlier.

WINNER: HARRY ALLEN (NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION)

RATING: Z9gUr7W.jpg

OVERALL SHOW RATING: S8RoboY.jpg

I gathered everyone backstage as the fans left the arena. "Boys," I started, looking at them all. "and Girls," I paused again. "Great job tonight. You did it. You exceeded my expectations for our first show, and I doubt it'll be the last time you lot do so. Of course, there will need to be some improvements as we move forward, but for now you all performed wonderfully! Now go on home and get some rest!" Everyone cheered, clapped, and talked as they exited the building. I pulled Allen, Avatar and Manna aside as everyone left and told each one of them how valuable they are to this company. I told Manna to pass the vote of confidence onto Turner as well. All four of them were to receive a small bonus in their paychecks for their performances. I took one look at everyone as they left and I smiled.

Perhaps this will work out after all. I headed home feeling happier than I have in quite a long time.

HEADLINES FROM FEBRUARY!

uu0Fqqy.jpgMxZl8G2.jpg

Total Championship Wrestling (TCW) and Extreme Modern Lucha Libre (EMLL) may both be losing business, and fast, as both of them have fallen in the perception of the public eye. TCW is reported as being seen as more of a cult-ish type company with a smaller, but loyal fanbase, and EMLL is being seen as having fallen down to the smaller end of the independent scene. Will they be able to bounce back, or does this spell the end for both of them?

nLKa0cN.jpgcplAPDC.jpg

It was discovered during a series of clashes on social media that the owners of both the Supreme Wrestling Federation (SWF) and Invincible Pro Wrestling (IPW), Jerry Eisen and Gil Thomas respectively, had come to a hostile relationship with eachother. Many are worried about IPW's side of things... maybe Thomas bit off more than he could chew with this decision?

57JX4Uh.jpg

February was a monumental month for Pro Wrestling, with many things happening all over the world, but perhaps one of the most noted things is the fact that extremely popular American Football star Ross Henry has decided to switch over to the world of pro wrestling. Although he has yet to be touched by anybody, we doubt it'll be too much longer before he makes it big in wrestling, just as he did in Football.

Vt1XiST.jpgsI5JTp4.jpg

Christian Faith's new promotion, New England Wrestling (NEW), which was founded in 2016 but went shockingly quiet during the month of both January and February, held its debut show in February, NEW: Youth Gone Wild, and it was a major success for the company. It may have been a slightly overrated show, but with Faith's name attached to the company it might as well have been an instant classic. Everyone we've talked to here at the website has said they'd be interested in NEW's next show. Let's hope they keep up the good work.

djrpKqo.jpgkrNzVoC.jpg

Like we said, February was a big month for Pro Wrestling, and we weren't kidding. Two new companies opened up their doors in February, Youth Energy Pro Wrestling (YEPW) in Australia, and Empire Championship Wrestling (ECW) in the US. Many think ECW will clash with Christian Faith's NEW promotion, but so far it doesn't seem to be that way. We wish both of these company's, and their owners, Septimus Stubbs and Eric Tyler, the best of luck in the future.

gP8Pg49.jpg

We've covered the good in February, and now we've got to cover the bad. Unfortunately for Paul Huntingdon, he sustained a serious, SERIOUS injury while working SWF Nothing To Lose 2016. He sustained a C5 Cervical Spinal Cord Rupture and will be out for more than a year. Many think it'll be a miracle if Huntingdon is even able to wrestle again after this. We've sent out our good wishes already, but here is some more for the poor guy.

WSBHWcE.jpg

Injury struck once again, it seems, however for Kuemon Hotta it isn't so bad. Having landed himself with a Femoral Hernia, Hotta will be out of action for roughly 6 months before he's cleared to compete again - but at least he's going to compete again!

NEW ENGLAND WRESTLING PRESENTS: CRUSADE IN MARCH 2016!

593 Fans at Generic Venue, New England, USA

sI5JTp4.jpg

It was time for our second show, and I was stoked. I couldn't wait this whole time leading up to the event, and here we are. I was looking forward to some of the matches I had scheduled for tonight. I looked at the boys while they got ready and sent out O'Hara, Stately, Libertine and Lavin to finish preparations. No pre-show bout this time around.

I waited about 10 minutes while fans still filtered into the venue, and waited for the 'all-clear' from Dewey, then sent out Ricochet Ramone and Melvin Otto out there for the first bout of the night.

OPENING BOUT:

RICOCHET RAMONE VS. "THE NEW AGE GURU OF MAYHEM" MELVIN OTTO

WGZqerd.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpg99hnlqA.jpg

The bell rung and Ramone unleashed a series of fast kicks, punches and other melee moves up close on Otto, driving Otto back into the corner of the ring - to which Otto smiled, shrugged off the attacks and floored Ramone. I guess it's a true statement when they call him 'Ricochet', as he pretty much ricocheted off the mat and back up to his feet after Otto's initial attack. His rubber-like nature and Otto's resilience led to them going back and forth until Ramone surprisingly took the advantage about 8 minutes into the bout and later hit the Ricochet Senton, pinning Otto for the 3 count after 11 minutes of fighting.

WINNER: RICOCHET RAMONE

RATING: hEiC8i9.jpg

They returned backstage as we played a pre-recorded segment for the audience on our new mini-trons, one on each side of the entrance way. I applauded their performances, even though Ramone was really off his game, and waited to send the next match out.

ANGLE #1:

SWEET TABITHA'S MAN PROBLEM!

FiX7jht.jpgB0og2oI.jpgbwDN2JI.jpg

The Good Ol' Boys are seen approaching Sweet Tabitha, big grins on their faces. They get up close to her and startle her. She turns around to see their toothy grins and she looks disgusted and shocked. "We heard you and dat d'ere Raphe-al dude ain't 'eally a ting no more, Ms. Tabitha. Su, we 'as wonderin' if ye-" Tabitha cut off Langton and turned the other way, and then high-tailed it out of there. The two rednecks looked awfully upset, and thus this proves that 'Redneck Intuition' really isn't everything. Wooton slapped Langton upside his head for his terrible social skills, and then they left the area.

RATING: 6bBQqrL.jpg

Thanks to Tabitha's good looks and the two meatheaded rednecks being ugly, stupid and menacing, the angle went down well with the fans. That was good. I sent out the next match, which was one I was personally looking forward to.

LOWER MIDCARD BOUT:

QUENTIN QUEEN VS. RAPHAEL VS. PHILIPPE LAGRENIER

6f5dv25.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgyUjtn7H.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgigUucjf.jpg

The three men eyed each other as the bell rung, each hesitant on who to go after first. LaGrenier decided he would, and went after Queen, which allowed Raphael to capitalize on the other two, taking them both down and giving him in-ring superiority. He turned his attention to Queen, who he thought was the bigger threat, and this gave LaGrenier a new opening. The match continued like this for around 10 minutes before Raphael gained total control of the match and took out Queen, before ending LaGrenier's chances of winning with a Cupid's Arrow.

WINNER: RAPHAEL

RATING: 3AFEJs4.jpg

The crowd cheered for Raphael as he came backstage following the win. The other two arrived already. I congratulated them on their performance, and told them it would be a tough one to beat, before sending out the next match.

MIDCARD BOUT:

THE DYNAMITE EXPRESS VS. THE GOOD OL' BOYS

NUMBER ONE CONTENDERS BOUT FOR THE NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS!

eHDrrIZ.jpgLxUmW7w.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgB0og2oI.jpgbwDN2JI.jpg

The match began, Jones and Langton starting. Langton looked mighty upset still, a result from earlier's segment, while Fitzpaine looked determined as ever. Jones used this emotion to his advantage, exploiting Langton's off-set mind and within 8 minutes of relentless assault from both Jones and Collier, Langton was defeated following a Chop And Change from Cameron Jones. Fitzpaine didn't get in on the action once, and he looked pissed because of it.

WINNERS: THE DYNAMITE EXPRESS (#1 CONTENDERS)

RATING: Uom2i0k.jpg

The Boys returned backstage while Jones and Collier celebrated their win for several minutes. When they finished celebrating I signaled for production to play another pre-recorded video for the crowd.

ANGLE #2:

SWEET TABITHA'S CONTINUED MAN TROUBLES!

FiX7jht.jpgWlTMHhx.jpg

Sweet Tabitha was minding her own business, looking at her phone. "Hey there pretty lady," Austin Smooth came into the camera's view. She looked up at him and rolled her eyes. Smooth continued. "Whatchya say we head out for a couple drinks after this here show?" He paused, expecting an answer. When he didn't get one, he persisted. "C'mon, Sweetie. I'll give you a night you'll never forget, just give me a chance. They don't call me 'Smooth' for nothing, you hear?" She rolled her eyes once more and looked at him. "Tell you what, Austin, you win your match tonight? I'll give you a shot. If not, though, don't ever come near me again." Tabitha walked away. Smooth looked confident. "Tonight will simply be... Smooth." He said as the camera faded to black.

RATING: UZzQA1v.jpg

I sent out Smooth and Brendan Idol out for their match. It was another one I was looking forward too.

MIDCARD BOUT:

AUSTIN SMOOTH VS. BRENDAN IDOL

NUMBER ONE CONTENDER BOUT FOR NEW AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP!

WlTMHhx.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgNbKrOwB.jpg

It wasn't a bad bout, but it wasn't the best, either. It was noticeable early on that the two simply didn't click and the match suffered as a result of that odd chemistry. They still performed good, and kept the crowd somewhat involved, and they did counter each other pretty well in their style, which definitely helped the match from sucking entirely. Idol pinned Smooth in 8 minutes following an Idolizer. Smooth was visibly upset in the ring, undoubtedly due to the fact that he won't be getting anywhere near Ms. Tabitha tonight.

WINNER: BRENDAN IDOL (#1 CONTENDER FOR THE NEW AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP!)

RATING: wvRCqct.jpg

I sent out the next bout after Idol and Smooth returned backstage. I wasn't particularly impressed with their bout, but at least it warmed up the crowd for the next one.

UPPER MIDCARD BOUT:

ARTHUR DEXTER BRADLEY VS. JACK AVATAR VS. CAL SANDERS

VHW95uw.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpg4aHgMXT.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgwG8omPG.jpg

The bell rung and the three men went back and forth with one another: Sanders V Avatar, Avatar V ADB, ADB V Sanders, the whole sha-bang as the match progressed. Overtime it became clear that Avatar was the dominant force, and was arguably the one carrying the match as well. Avatar dominated from about 7 minutes into the match until the end when he put away A-D-B with an All American Slam. The in-ring action was roughly 13 minutes long.

WINNER: JACK AVATAR

RATING: 3AFEJs4.jpg

They came backstage individually and I applauded them on the match. So far, the entire show has been better than the previous one, and I was happy about that. The boys were really showing that they deserved to be here, and it was good. Avatar came in last, and I congratulated him on his win. As he walked away smiling, I sent out the next bout. The "Main Event" to those who saw the flyers.

"MAIN EVENT" BOUT:

FORD GUMBLE VS. RILEY MCMANUS

bg0BVWV.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgJwElApK.jpg & OFmOpfs.jpg

Gumble ferociously attacked McManus from nearly all angles for a solid few minutes, with Streetz looking like he was about to lose his mind at ringside. After a few more minutes of this McManus was able to find a weak point in Gumble's assault and launch a counterattack. Following this counterattack he was unsuccessful in trying to put Gumble away following his signature move: the Slingshot Suplex. The bout reached the 12 minute mark and both men were tiring, and at a stalemate. Neither one was able to take advantage until 16 minutes in when McManus took hold of a visibly tired Gumble, attacking him for a few more minutes before putting him away with a second Slingshot Suplex. A relieved Streetz cheered at ringside as McManus celebrated the big win.

WINNER: RILEY MCMANUS w/ STREETZ

RATING: wvRCqct.jpg

They returned backstage and nearly collapsed upon entering. I made note to never push them longer than 15 minutes again, unless it was a multi-man matchup. I applauded McManus on his win and told Gumble he looked good out there before I handed Allen a live mic and sent him out to the ring.

ANGLE #3:

ALLEN'S BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

28UMtHj.jpgoIDI3qM.jpg

Harry Allen enters the ring, World Heavyweight title draped on his shoulder. He looks around at the crowd before bringing the mic closer to his face. "Hello, New England!" Allen shouts and is met with cheers. "Welcome your World Heavyweight champion just as you would any good friend! Because I am your friend, and I have a very, very important announcement to make!" Allen smiled at the fans who cheered him. "As your Champion, I feel it's necessary to act the part - and as such, I'm setting up a challenge for myself... and not just any challenge, but an Open Challenge!" Allen pauses once more, listening to the half-a-thousand fans packed into the venue. "That's right! And right now, anyone there in the back can come out and challenge me! Right here, right now!" Allen stops, waiting. About 30 seconds goes by and Allen looks as if he's going to give up and head backstage when a voice calls out. "Mr. Allen, WE accept your challenge!" Allen looks up at the entry way as two familiar faces step out. The NEW World Tag Team Champions, Stan "The Man" Manna & Rockin' Ryan Turner! The two men step out and declare they accept the challenge, which Allen responds to them by eagerly waiting in the ring. He accepts their dangerous challenge of a 2-on-1 handicap match, and the bell is rung!

RATING: jLRkatX.jpg

SURPRISE MAIN EVENT BOUT:

THE ROCK CITY STARS VS. HARRY ALLEN

2-on-1 HANDICAP MATCH FOR THE NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!

oIDI3qM.jpg

gpmtDrD.jpgBOkf9Tb.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpg28UMtHj.jpg

The Stars threw everything they had at Allen in what could only be described as the match of the night. Allen responded with the same mentality and grit as he took them down a notch and was even able to gain the advantage over both of them in the ring at the same time! After roughly 12 minutes of this back-and-forth, all-out action, however, Allen was able to put away a groggy Ryan Turner with a Flying Fist Drop and secure the victory. Allen celebrated his first title defense as the Stars returned backstage.

WINNER: HARRY ALLEN (1st SUCCESSFUL TITLE DEFENSE!)

RATING: UL7NlAb.jpg

OVERALL SHOW RATING: mlfbsA2.jpg

The fans started clearing out following Allen V The Stars, arguably the match of the night. I was proud of those three guys, pulling out such a gritty, calculated performance on our SECOND show! Bonuses to the lot of 'em, I thought. I congratulated everyone on a good night and let 'em all go home. It was already time to start preparing for NEW's next show, which I have decided to call Spring Supershow, scheduled for April. Tonight was a successful night, no doubt, and I can't wait for the next one!

This is definitely going to work out! I cheered in my thoughts.

HEADLINES FROM MARCH!

yM1rsib.jpgxeW1uNp.jpg

A falling out between European promotions' Victory Wrestling Association (VWA) and Ultimate European Wrestling (UEW) occurred in March, as the CEOs, Albert Thorp (VWA) and Ali Bloxsome (UEW) had started taking shots at one another on social media. What this could spell for the future is unknown, but it seems unlikely that they'll ever be on good terms again.

djrpKqo.jpgMxZl8G2.jpg

Business is doing well for Youth Energy Pro Wrestling (YEPW) in Australia, and Extreme Modern Lucha Libre (EMLL) in Mexico, as both companies have been gaining more and more followers, with each seeing a growth in their public perception, with YEPW heading up to small-time indy status, and EMLL heading up to small-regional territory. Good luck to both of them and may business keep on prospering!

cplAPDC.jpgzYea7SE.jpg

tJ747RX.jpgnmrXEyT.jpghE9ZnaU.jpg9nhEMWt.jpg

Supreme Wrestling Federation (SWF) has bolstered it's developmental roster like many thought it would, but some of it's picks were quite odd in the eyes of most, considering they grabbed mostly unknown independent wrestlers: The Silencer, Seth Whitehead, Logan Wolfsbaine and Xavi Ferrara. Who knows what they could've been thinking, but these guys must be impressive if they were hired by SWF like that straight out the gate!

BTEj4ah.jpg

QI93rAe.jpgYAZ3bUE.jpg

United States Pro Wrestling (USPW) continues on its domination of North America, picking up a huge win over North Of The Border Pro Wrestling (NOTBPW) and a small victory over the SWF this past month, signing both Sean McFly and Des Davids to exclusive contracts. McFly has already debuted and is making impressive showings, while Davids must wait until he returns from injury in a few months time. Good luck to both of them and their future endeavors with USPW!

Last night Christian Faith held an online press-conference in which he expressed his 'faith' in NEW's future and hopes for the best future for every member of the roster, and he expressed his gratitude to the fans who have come to both of the company's recent shows - only shows. He claimed that the talent in NEW keeps on impressing him with each show (again, only two shows!) and that he couldn't wait for the next show, scheduled to be later this month, called NEW: Spring Supershow. With this, he announced the card for the show, and it has been posted online on the company's website and social media accounts.

NEW ENGLAND WRESTLING PRESENTS: SPRING SUPERSHOW 2016!

568 Fans at Generic Venue, New England, USA

It seems that less people have turned up compared to the last show. Sucks for those that didn't come, because this one will be our best one yet - I can feel it. I sent the ring crew out to prepare the cameras and aprons and such while fans poured in.

"Hey, boss?" I turned around.

6f5dv25.jpg

"What's up, Quentin?" I asked.

Quentin: "I've noticed that I'm not on this month's card... I was wondering why, is all.."

I smiled at the youngster. "Don't worry, I just couldn't fit you in anywhere. I'm not going to just cut you loose, if that's what you were thinking. Besides, you aren't the only one: McManus, Otto and Langton aren't in any official matches, so don't be scared." He slightly nodded and headed off. I think I handled that situation well... I think.

I received signal from the ring crew that everything was ready and sent out the refs and announce team. Once they were situated, I sent out our first bout.

OPENING BOUT:

RICOCHET RAMONE VS. RAPHAEL

WGZqerd.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgyUjtn7H.jpg

The bell rung and things started quick: Ramone bouncing around the ring and Raphael trying to counter his quick offense. Ramone hit a big splash at the 5 minute mark but it was unable to put Raph away. Then, at around 9 minutes in Ramone went for another big dive - and crashed and burned. Raphael took advantage of the situation and used his all-round and ground game to weaken Ramone enough for a true finisher: a Cupid's Arrow for the 3 count. Raphael celebrated as Ramone headed to the back.

WINNER: RAPHAEL

RATING: xo3fH3p.jpg

I waited for Raphael to finish his celebration before sending the next match out. That was a good opener, and it'll definitely be a tough on to beat throughout the show.

LOWER MIDCARD BOUT:

BEN WILLIAMS VS. PHILIPPE LAGRENIER VS. ARTHUR DEXTER BRADLEY

unFgGe5.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgigUucjf.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgVHW95uw.jpg

There were three different styles in this ring, but each one was a different subset of the term 'all-round'. LaGrenier was an entertainer, but he could hold his own. Williams was a flashy high flyer first and foremost, and despite being the weakest overall performer in this match, could still hold his own against the others. ADB was arguably the most well-rounded wrestler in the match - possibly even the company - and was the obvious favorite going into the match, which made it all the more surprising when after 8 minutes Philippe LaGrenier stole the victory - putting away Ben Williams with a Quebec Arrow.

WINNER: PHILIPPE LAGRENIER

RATING: wvRCqct.jpg

A decent match from decent competitors. LaGrenier carried the match, which was quite surprising in all honesty. Once the three of them returned I sent out the next match, which was one I was looking forward to.

MIDCARD BOUT:

AUSTIN SMOOTH VS. CAL SANDERS

WlTMHhx.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgwG8omPG.jpg

The bell rung and Smooth, the 'rookie', came at Sanders with a full-frontal assault like nobody had ever seen before. Sanders definitely didn't see it coming, as he was caught off guard and beaten to a pulp. Smooth dominated the first few minutes of the match before Sanders started to mount a comeback, fighting back Smooth and applying various holds to wear him down. Unfortunately, Sanders missed a splash which allowed Smooth to take control once more and finish him off with a Smooth Hold in just under 10 minutes.

WINNER: AUSTIN SMOOTH

RATING: uzT1jxu.jpg

Smooth stormed his way up the entry way and backstage, perfectly selling his 'rage' against the world. He came back and I applauded his performance - thus far he had to have had the performance of the night. Sanders eventually came back while the small trons aired a live interview with Jack Avatar.

ANGLE #1:

JACK AVATAR'S UPCOMING DEFENSE!

4aHgMXT.jpgOF25r1G.jpg

Jack was standing backstage with his NEW American Championship draped over his shoulder. Allison Addison approached him, microphone in hand, and looked at him.

Allison: "So, Jack, you won the New England Wrestling American Championship two months ago at our inaugural event. Now, you have to defend it against a veteran of the craft, how do you feel right now?"

Jack leaned in closer as Allison held out the mic to him.

Jack: "Let me tell you something, Allison, it doesn't make me feel great. I mean, c'mon, this guy Brendan Idol? He was this close," Jack makes a pinch with his fingers. "This close to breaking into the SWF someday. He's a bonafide veteran of the craft, he knows what he's doing and me? I've been doing this for what, 5 years compared to his 10+ years? So no, this doesn't feel good. Does this mean I'll buckle under the pressure? Hell no. Does this mean I won't give it my all? Hell no. I'll give it my all and prove why they call me the 'All American Boy' by successfully defending my NEW American Championship next!"

Jack takes his title and heads off, presumably to prepare for the match.

Allison: "Well uh, there you have it, I guess." Allison looks around slightly nervous and confused as the screen fades to black.

RATING: 8dRxD6s.jpg

I quickly sent out Jack to the ring, where Idol was already waiting for him.

MIDCARD BOUT:

JACK AVATAR © VS. BRENDAN IDOL

NEW AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT!

KcPJtws.jpg

4aHgMXT.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgNbKrOwB.jpg

The bell rung and the two locked up in the center, providing the crowd with a breath of some good ol' technical wrestling. They went back and forth, neither able to gain a solid advantage over the other, until Idol took the flow of the match up a notch, speeding up and using his aerial abilities to his advantage over the grounded style of Avatar. He was able to hit Avatar with an Idolizer, and he went for the pinfall... 1... 2... No! Jack kicked out, and launched a counteroffensive against Idol, running him into a corner and, following up on a running bulldog from the corner, hitting his trademark All American Slam. Avatar pinned Idol for the 3, raising his title triumphantly over Idol and celebrating with the crowd for several minutes.

WINNER: JACK AVATAR © (1st TITLE DEFENSE!)

RATING: uzT1jxu.jpg

While Jack finished celebrating another live interview came onto the screens. Idol looked pissed, but he didn't say anything as he went for his personal bag and grabbed something to drink. Avatar came back with a wide grin on his face as the interview officially started.

ANGLE #2:

THE ROCK CITY STARS' UNFORTUNATE ANNOUNCEMENT(s?)

gpmtDrD.jpgBOkf9Tb.jpgOF25r1G.jpg

The Stars stood looking smug at the camera, and at each other, when Addison approached.

Allison: "So, Stan, Ryan, earlier tonight on social media you proclaimed you had a very important announcement. I've come to ask what that was all about?"

Ryan: "Well, yes, we did, but man if I knew they'd be sendin' us a pretty lil' girl like you, I would've said a whole lot more," Ryan grinned as Stan slapped him.

Stan: "Yes, that was correct. Ignore this fool. We do have a very, very important announcement, and it is for two men in particular..." Stan paused. "Syd Col-lier and Came-ron Jones! You two think for even a second that you are worthy of our New England Wrestling World Tag Team Titles?! Hah! You're nothing but people clapping in the nosebleeds. You are NOT worthy of challenging for our titles. You're not even worthy of being in the same ring as US, because we.. we are Superstars,"

Ryan cut him off.

Ryan: "Yeah, and you guys? You're just a coupl'a punks, that's all! We're not afraid of you, and we certainly won't let you get close to our gold, or our girls! An-"

Stan slapped him again.

Stan: "Do not cut me off, Ryan." Stan resumed. "We are Superstars, while you guys are just wannabe's. You'll never reach our level, and that is why we must announce one thing: Your invalid number one contendership. We deem it invalid due to your.. mediocrity. But," Stan paused once more. "But, we'll give you a shot.. that is, if you win in our tag team bout tonight.. and that is almost.. certainly not going to happen."

Ryan: "Yeah, like, there's only a 98% chance of that ever happenin', dudes. You don't stand a chance. You can't beat us."

And with that, the duo left smugly while Allison was just left to stand there. The screen faded away.

RATING: mrOufB2.jpg

I was happy with that promo, even though the crowd looked a little bit bored by the end of it. I sent out the next match, to prepare the crowd for the tag bout.

UPPER MIDCARD BOUT:

FORD GUMBLE VS. WOOTON FITZPAINE w/ THIMBLEBY LANGTON

bg0BVWV.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgB0og2oI.jpg w/ bwDN2JI.jpg

The bell rung and it was off to the races. Gumble used his experience and wit to out-maneuver the big lug of a redneck brawler, and was gaining fair amounts of ground until Thimbleby Langton butted in, taking out the referee, Alvin Lavin, for a few minutes and distracting Gumble. This gave Fitzpaine the advantage, who rolled up Gumble for a barely conscious 3-count from Lavin for the victory.

WINNER: WOOTON FITZPAINE w/ THIMBLEBY LANGTON

RATING: 3AFEJs4.jpg

The men returned backstage. Gumble was pissed, even though it was planned. He was pissed beforehand, like Idol was about the title match. I'll just send them extra cash this month for their troubles. I sent out the tag team bout, which I was excited for.

UPPER MIDCARD BOUT:

THE ROCK CITY STARS w/ "ROCK PRINCESS" OSIRIS VS. THE DYNAMITE EXPRESS

NON-TITLE TAG TEAM ELIMINATION BOUT

BOkf9Tb.jpggpmtDrD.jpg w/ qF5DKeB.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgLxUmW7w.jpgeHDrrIZ.jpg

Ryan Turner and Syd Collier started the bout, and they met up in the middle, Turner's fast-paced style meeting up with Collier's all-round, grounded style. Collier took the advantage, and was able to put away (with help from Cameron) Turner within 6 minutes. A fresh Stan "The Man" Manna took his place and did not back down - coming at Syd with a series of heavy blows and kicks. Manna took the advantage and did not let go of it until he pinned Syd Collier. It was 10 minutes in and two men remained: Cameron and Stan. They traded blows for a little bit before taking the action to the outside, going back and forth out there when - all of a sudden - Osiris grabbed Cameron and kissed him, allowing Manna to take control and throw Cameron into the ring, before putting him away for the 1 2 3. Stan and Osiris quickly headed backstage, leaving a dazed Cameron Jones sitting in the ring.

WINNERS: THE ROCK CITY STARS

RATING: xo3fH3p.jpg

I was extremely impressed with the performances of all 4 men, and congratulated them on it when they got backstage. After about 30 seconds, I sent out Harry Allen.

ANGLE #3:

HARRY ALLEN'S OPEN CHALLENGE CONTINUES!

28UMtHj.jpg

Harry came out doing the same routine as last month, and guess who came out to answer? None other than Streetz! Streetz came out and claimed he knew a man out could defeat Allen, and that man was none other than his client, Riley McManus! The fans were on the edge of their seats as McManus approached the ring.

RATING: xo3fH3p.jpg

MAIN EVENT BOUT:

oIDI3qM.jpg

HARRY ALLEN VS. RILEY MCMANUS

NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN CHALLENGE

28UMtHj.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgJwElApK.jpg w/ OFmOpfs.jpg

This was an epic battle. McManus and Allen were both really good wrestlers, and it was on full display here tonight. A true back-and-forth, dramatic battle, neither man could fully conquer his opponent, and this led to multiple near-falls, but somehow, near the end, Allen managed to gain enough momentum to hit his trademark move, the Flying Fist Drop, and take down McManus for the 1 2 3. Allen stood triumphantly after just under 14 minutes of pure wrestling and offered McManus a handshake after McManus rose to his feet. McManus refused and walked away, much to the displeasure of the fans. Allen continued to celebrate his title defense in the ring as McManus and Streetz left for the backstage.

WINNER: HARRY ALLEN (2nd TITLE DEFENSE!)

OVERALL SHOW RATING: Uom2i0k.jpg

I was happy with this show. Some parts weren't as good as I'd hoped but meh, the show was still a success. This was a great success for NEW, and spells for many more to come. As everyone left - fans and workers alike, I had already began preparing for the next show.. which I would announce on the first of May.

NEW ENGLAND WRESTLING PRESENTS: PROVING GROUNDS 2016

564 Fans at Generic Venue, New England

Roughly the same number as last time. Maybe a few less, hopefully this show can turn that decline around. I am very excited for this show, evident by my non-stop pacing around the backstage area. The boys were getting ready for their matches. The tournament was up first and I had to buy time. I headed out with a microphone in hand.

ANGLE #1:

THE BOSS IS HYPED UP!

sI5JTp4.jpg

I headed toward the ring, mic in hand. The crowd was popping hard - good start. I got into the ring and looked around. "Well well well," I started. "How's it going, New England?!" I yelled, and received cheers. "Thank you all for coming out tonight, as you all know, my name's Christian Faith and uh, well, you're all here to see people who aren't me," I paused and looked around. "Surprising, right? Yeah, it must be. Anyways, I've got a real banger of a show for you guys, but first up we'll be seeing 8 of New England Wrestling's best performers battle it out in a one-night tournament, and as you know, the winner will receive a one-time NEW World Heavyweight title shot that can be used ANYTIME and ANYWHERE for the next 12 months!" The people cheered and I bowed. "Now, let's get this show underway! First up, we've got Philippe LaGrenier taking on Melvin Otto!" I yelled as LaGrenier made his entrance and I headed backstage.

RATING: lSjevht.jpg

TOURNAMENT ROUND ONE, MATCH ONE:

PHILIPPE LAGRENIER VS. MELVIN OTTO

igUucjf.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpg99hnlqA.jpg

Referee Alvin Lavin rung the bell and they were off, Otto taking early control with some heavy striking and power moves. LaGrenier took the hits and waited for the right moment before locking Otto down in a sleeper hold and taking control. LaGrenier was able to keep Otto away long enough and get in enough damage to successfully land a Quebec Arrow and win the match in just under 8 minutes. LaGrenier advances to the Semi-Finals!

WINNER: PHILIPPE LAGRENIER

RATING: 8dRxD6s.jpg

Not a bad match, per se, but definitely not the best. Glad I had them go out first. I congratulated LaGrenier on his win and told him to rest until the Semi Finals. I sent out Smooth and Queen for the second bout.

TOURNAMENT ROUND ONE, MATCH TWO:

QUENTIN QUEEN VS. AUSTIN SMOOTH

6f5dv25.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgWlTMHhx.jpg

The bell rung and they were off. Smooth rushed Queen and took him down to the mat, surprising Queen and throwing him off his a-game. Eventually Queen fought him off and tried to gain a foothold of power in the match, but Smooth's assault was relentless, and in just under 7 minutes Smooth defeated Queen via submission with the Smooth Hold.

WINNER: AUSTIN SMOOTH

RATING: mrOufB2.jpg

A good match, and one that showed that those two are indeed improving in their craft, just as I hope everyone else is. I sent out Raph and Idol for their bout.

TOURNAMENT ROUND ONE, MATCH THREE

RAPHAEL VS. BRENDAN IDOL

yUjtn7H.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgNbKrOwB.jpg

The bell rung and the two men met in the middle, showcasing their pretty decent chain wrestling abilities, with neither able to take control of the match initially. They broke up their chain wrestling and each took a spot in their starting corners, before charging each other and meeting in the middle again, Idol taking control. Idol took Raph down to the mat in a series of holds and moves and kept him there before climbing up the top rope and going for a splash. Raph moved out of the way and quickly took advantage, lifting Idol up and hitting a Cupid's Arrow to finish the match. The longest bout thus far, at roughly 9 minutes.

WINNER: RAPHAEL

RATING: Z9gUr7W.jpg

Solid bout, I thought, before sending out Williams and McManus to finish off round one.

TOURNAMENT ROUND ONE, MATCH FOUR:

BEN WILLIAMS VS. RILEY MCMANUS

unFgGe5.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgJwElApK.jpg

The bell rung and, in a valiant effort, Ben Williams tried to put up some kind of defense against McManus' fierce assault. McManus took control and easily dominated the much smaller, much lighter Ben before putting him away with a Slingshot Suplex. The 4 minute match was the best one so far, but it could only be described as a squash match.

WINNER: RILEY MCMANUS

RATING: Uom2i0k.jpg

A fantastic showing from McManus really sold that he was on a mission to the crowd and made the match look great. I applauded him on it before sending out Raphael and LaGrenier for their bout.

TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS, MATCH ONE:

PHILIPPE LAGRENIER VS. RAPHAEL

igUucjf.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgyUjtn7H.jpg

The bell rung and the two went back and forth, showing little signs of fatigue from their first round bouts, and were able to keep one another from taking control. At about 7 minutes in LaGrenier hit a Quebec Arrow, but Raphael valiantly kicked out, much to LaGrenier's despair. LaGrenier tried setting him up for another won, but Raphael fought back fiercely and was able to finish LaGrenier off with a Cupid's Arrow.

WINNER: RAPHAEL

RATING: uzT1jxu.jpg

The matches just keep getting better and better, and I was impressed by those two's performances. It seemed the fans were too, as they were left almost speechless by the end. I sent out McManus and Smooth for their match.

TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS, MATCH TWO

RILEY MCMANUS VS. AUSTIN SMOOTH

JwElApK.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgWlTMHhx.jpg

The match started with the two technically proficient fighters meeting in the center for some old-school chain wrestling. McManus took early control of the match, keeping Smooth grounded with his weight and power before Smooth was able to wriggle himself free of McManus and take the fight to him with some solid mat work and some nice looking punches. Unfortunately, Smooth missed a punch and McManus was able to take control, easily taking Smooth out with a Slingshot Suplex for the win.

WINNER: RILEY MCMANUS

RATING: uzT1jxu.jpg

A good match to end the semi-finals, I sent out Raphael so he could meet McManus in the ring for the finale of the Tournament. If this match goes well, then it'll decide whether or not we ever do this tournament again.

TOURNAMENT FINALE:

RILEY MCMANUS VS. RAPHAEL

JwElApK.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgyUjtn7H.jpg

The bell rung as soon as Raphael got in the ring and the two worn out wrestlers met in the middle, with Raphael taking control over a worse-off McManus. McManus was able to eventually take back control, but the damage had been done. Becoming increasingly fatigued, McManus was able to keep control over Raphael, who kept trying to utilize his smaller size to his advantage, only to be met with McManus' calculated assault. McManus kept control and eventually hit his signature Slingshot Suplex to finish the match off. McManus has won the tournament!

WINNER: RILEY MCMANUS (1st EVER PROVING GROUNDS WINNER!)

RATING: Uom2i0k.jpg

Streetz entered the ring with McManus and they celebrated.

ANGLE #2:

MCMANUS & STREETZ CELEBRATE TOURNAMENT VICTORY!

OFmOpfs.jpgJwElApK.jpg

The crowd booed as McManus leaned against the ropes, sweating and happy with his victory. Streetz repeatedly yelled insults at the fans as he clapped for his client and eventually helped the tired wrestler return backstage.

RATING: KJcEH0f.jpg

Not well-received, but it did buy enough time for the next match to be ready. I sent out the first "main" bout, it was pretty much a filler bout but I wondered what would happen.

MAIN SHOW BOUT ONE:

CAL SANDERS VS. RICOCHET RAMONE

wG8omPG.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgWGZqerd.jpg

The bell rung and the two went back and forth quicker than anybody else on the card has or probably could. Several dropkicks, sentons, kicks, punches and other moves landed and missed faster than anyone could anticipate, due to the two guys being small and agile. Ramone took control about halfway through and sufficiently beat Sanders until Sanders was down and out, which Ramone solidified and won with after hitting his signature Ricochet Senton.

WINNER: RICOCHET RAMONE

RATING: awvCMuL.jpg

A solid match from a couple of naturally gifted athletes. I couldn't ever ask for less.

MAIN SHOW BOUT TWO:

JACK AVATAR VS. ARTHUR DEXTER BRADLEY

4aHgMXT.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgVHW95uw.jpg

The two put on a pretty good back and forth bout that while not the best match of the night, would definitely be remembered as being a good to get the fans involved for the remainder of the show. Avatar took the win, putting another dash onto ADB's losing streak.

WINNER: JACK AVATAR

RATING: Uom2i0k.jpg

A decidedly average bout for the middle of the show is nothing to laugh about, but something to applaud. I was happy with the match and the men's performances, and it was good enough to keep the crowd involved with the show - our longest one yet. I sent out the order for the screens to prepare for a backstage interview as ADB and Avatar returned to the backstage area.

ANGLE #3:

THE DYNAMITE EXPRESS HAS SOMETHING TO EXPRESS!

LxUmW7w.jpgeHDrrIZ.jpgOF25r1G.jpg

Allison Addison stood backstage with the Dynamite Express right next to her, both of them looking angry and upset.

Allison: "So, guys, you lost last week in your number one contendership bout against the reigning tag team champions, Stan Manna and Ryan Turner. How does that make you feel and uh, what are you gonna do about it?"

Syd leaned in first.

Syd: "You know, Allison, I'll tell ya what: we were robbed of a title shot and to make things worse, those two assholes cheated! Using their girlfriend or whatever the hell she is to take advantage of my man Cameron," Cameron shook his head. "Just wrong. Plain and simple. Those two dickwads deserve whatever they got comin', and I'll tell you what they've got comin': a couple of pissed off men with a point to prove. That's us. We're coming for those tag titles and we won't stop until we receive them. We don't even know who we're facing next, and we don't care, because let's face it: we're a better tag team, and better men, than the so called 'Rock City Stars.' Thank you for your time, Allison, but we must be on our way." Syd walked away as Cameron followed.

Allison: "There you have it, folks."

Allison smiled as the camera faded away.

RATING: xo3fH3p.jpg

A good interview from a good team. I sent them out and prepped up their mystery opponents.

ANGLE #4:

ATTACKED!

6KIrqtp.jpgzPwNMyB.jpg2x9hDnU.jpgHvcGbEZ.jpg

The Dynamite Express came out and stood in the ring while waiting for their opponents. Unfamiliar music played and two men stood on the stag with microphones in hand. It was fellow MAW tag team The Heartbreak Express (Johnny Needham & Ralph Liotta)! They claimed they were the mystery opponents and that they were going to easily defeat the Dynamite Express when two more men came out from behind them and viciously beat them down to the ground. The veteran tag team The Hillbillys headed down to the ring, looking to beat down Jones & Collier just as they had Needham & Liotta.

RATING: UDVbSIQ.jpg

MAIN SHOW BOUT THREE:

THE DYNAMITE EXPRESS VS. THE HEARTBREAK EXPRESS (THE HILLBILLYS)

LxUmW7w.jpgeHDrrIZ.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgHvcGbEZ.jpg2x9hDnU.jpg

The bell rung and the Dynamite Express sure had a challenge facing them. Two giants opposed them and they needed to use their wits to defeat them. Using their size and agility to out-maneuver the big men, they targeted the knees of the giants until Syd got Al down onto the ground for a Texas Cloverleaf, ending the match in just under 8 minutes.

WINNERS: THE DYNAMITE EXPRESS

RATING: mrOufB2.jpg

A solid bout and angle from the Hillbillys, better than I had anticipated when I signed them to one-off deals. Pete just recently retired without having any kind of going-away match so I figured this could be it: putting over the young up-and-comers of the industry. I sent out the next bout, another tag team match.

MAIN SHOW BOUT FOUR:

THE ROCK CITY STARS & "ROCK PRINCESS" OSIRIS VS. THE GOOD OL' BOYS

BOkf9Tb.jpggpmtDrD.jpgqF5DKeB.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgB0og2oI.jpgbwDN2JI.jpg

Starting the match was Turner and Fitzpaine, who beat Turner senselessly, with Stan refusing to tag in until he could figure out the country bumpkin's weaknesses. Stan finally tagged in, at about 7 minutes in, leaving an almost broken Ryan Turner at ringside and used his wit and agility to out-class Fitzpaine and Langton, before defeating Langton with a Rockin' Roller in just over 11 minutes.

WINNERS: THE ROCK CITY STARS & "ROCK PRINCESS" OSIRIS

RATING: 6kIbbBJ.jpg

Definitely match of the night. The Stars never fail to impress me with their story telling and ring work. I'm quite surprised that RIPW cut these two a while back, they probably could've done wonders in SWF's tag scene. I sent out Harry Allen so he could end out the show with his Open Challenge.

ANGLE #5:

HARRY ALLEN'S OPEN CHALLENGE CONTINUES!

aR56SQM.jpg28UMtHj.jpg

Harry Allen headed down to the ring World title on his shoulder, before getting in the ring and smiling around at the cheering fans. "You guys know the drill, I know the drill," then he turned to the entry way. "Who out there in the back wants to try and take this championship away from me?" He yelled and then smiled at the entry way. Unfamiliar music played and a face stepped out that surprised many. Jack Griffith headed down to the ring, looking mighty determined and ready for a fight. Allen gave his belt to the referee and took his corner.

RATING: Uom2i0k.jpg

MAIN SHOW BOUT FIVE:

HARRY ALLEN VS. JACK GRIFFITH

NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT

oIDI3qM.jpg

28UMtHj.jpgJtlo8Gv.jpgaR56SQM.jpg

The two veterans paced back and forth for a solid minute, waiting for the other to strike first and when neither of them did, they both decided to. Meeting in the center of the ring, Griffith took early control, pushing Allen into the corner and repeatedly stomping and throwing haymakers. Some solid strikes and kicks later, he decided to pull Allen out of the corner. A nice german suplex left Allen down and out, and Griffith went for the pin. Allen kicked out at 2.5, the fans cheering him on. As Griffith argued with the ref, Allen rose to his feet and with a surge of support clotheslined Griffith and took control. A few minutes later, with Allen viciously striking, kicking and doing various other moves landing on Griffith with surprising velocity and power, Allen put away Griffith with a Flying Fist Drop to end the show. The match clocked in at just under 14 minutes. Allen retains his belt for the third time!

WINNER: HARRY ALLEN (3rd TITLE DEFENCE)

RATING: UDVbSIQ.jpg

OVERALL SHOW RATING: CsB0hzN.jpg

A great Main Event from two great in-ring workers. I was glad I chose Griffith to be the challenger. He's someone I'll have to keep in mind for future one-off deals, perhaps. Too old for an actual deal, but someone to bring in every now and then. Allen celebrated his victory as Griffith returned backstage and the fans filtered out of the venue.

I looked at the boys and was very proud of them for their performances. They could tell, almost all of them were grinning. Allen returned backstage and received a hail of cheers and clapping from the men. He thanked everyone and shook hands with Griffith as they left. Everyone began to leave.

"Drinks on me!" One of them yelled as they all were leaving, everyone laughing and genuinely being happy. I couldn't help but smile at the little, small family I had created here in NEW. I did sign Needham and Liotta to full deals, in order to keep the tag team scene fresh and interesting. I figured have them get beat up now, so that the Hillbillys looked like a viable threat for the Express to overcome, then next month or the month after start booking them in several types of matches to see how they perform and who they work well with. Tonight proved NEW are indeed a promotion to look out for, and it also proved that the boys of NEW can work with the best of them, and that the boys are also people to look out for. I hope this show turns around the attendance numbers and we start getting larger crowds - not only because I don't want to divert more of my own funds to the company - but because those boys deserve to work in front of large crowds, impressing people by the thousands.

On that thought, I smiled with a fire of determination blazing in my eyes, and left the venue. Look out, World, cause the boys of NEW are gonna be the Next Big Things.
