Favorite memories from your TEW2016 saves.

Recommended Posts

The entirety of my Flashpoint save, where I started a small lucha/CHIKARA-style promotion in Canada as El Generico. I thought I'd dick around with it for a while and get bored after 6 months (that happens to about 90% of saves I start), but it ended up being my main TEW 16 save. That happened mainly because I was half accidentally able to sign a lot of bigger names then I was planning to and the company quite quickly evolved in to a more serious style, and eventually big enough to challenge WWE in North America.

Some highlights were Christopher Daniels getting a world title run (feuding mainly with Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho), Kota Ibushi's 14 month reign as the inaugural TV-champ and Alex Vega becoming my "homegrown" top star of the company mainly because he had excellent chemistry when tagging with Cody Rhodes, so he got a tag run with him, and it just kind of snowballed from there.

When I look at the roster in hindsight it sort of became a canadian AEW even though I played most of the save before AEW was a thing, as I had all of the Elite except Hangman Page in the company, as well as people like Jericho, Daniels, PAC and the Lucha Bros.

My favorite save was/is with ECW starting in 1997. I still play it regularly and I'm in the year 2000 now.

I was able to survive the financial problems within the first six months before reaching Cult and getting some lucrative TV/PPV deals. Also I went on to steal a few decent guys from WWF and WCW (X-Pac, Raven, Ultimo Dragon, ...) as well as devolop some newcomers like CM Punk, The Hardys and Kurt Angle.

My 4C save went on for a long, long time. I remember when my midcard started to really deliver some better matches, and the death of NOTBPW allowing me to make some signings that increased our visibility. The arrival of David Stone and Lucy Stone-McFly, Edward Cornell forming the Cornell Coalition and dominating the fed for a year, running five tournaments annually, expanding into the UK and Japan, building the best women's roster in the world... I have so many memories of that save. Can't wait to do it again.

I loved my WWF 1987 game. Dropped Hogan as the face of the company and pushed Savage into that role. Gave Andre a run with the strap. Had Dusty as my main heel with a cowboy gimmick (think mainstream Stan Hansen gimmick). Hogan ended up getting fired and Dibiase is becoming a major star

My favorite memory will be getting to go through with an idea I'd had in TEW2013, but never had a game long enough to execute. I managed to build Intrepid Ian Identity into a heel DeColt half-brother over the course of my two year long CGC save. Starting about halfway through 2017, he had built up enough Popularity to turn heel, and present himself as the product of a George DeColt love affair to the rest of the DeColts. Managed to put him over Jack in a feud, which led to Jack "leaving" CGC (I put him under a mask for three months to keep him on shows and changed the Figure Head to Ricky during this period), as well as cost Ricky the World title to Sayeed Ali.

That's kind of the state that the save is in now, but I'd had that plan for a long time and am happy I was able to pull it off in TEW2016.

  • 2 weeks later...

This was likely the funniest moment for me, I was maybe two years into my 4C game and The Inner City Express we’re dominating my tag division. They held the belts for over a year and I was preparing them for a third reign when Malik Cash won’t resign a contract for some reason, which was odd since he didn’t have any morale issues to my memory. So his contract lapses and he signs with my rivals CGC as a singles wrestler. He has ONE match that got a C, then broke his leg in the second and was out for a year. By the time he had returned 4C had grown and he was willing to sign again. I just imagined everybody in the locker room ribbing him about his awful year. “Hey Malik, how was your singles push?”

Another one that stands out, although it didn’t happen to me, was Rick Law winning the SWF World Title... and then dying of a heart attack the very next day

In one of my RTG 2001 saves loyalty became a big thing that saved me. Same with friendships. Hired Liger on a 3 month long contract (he was freelancing), he started a friendship with the owner and when he was about to leave, the owner extended his contract, allowing me to constantl get 75+ rated main events at events for my small (now regional) promotion.

Same save...I hired Tiger Mask (original) and he took my Player Character as a Protege and also became loyal to the promotion. He's now above 80 pop across Japan and won't sign written deals for any other promotion. Tiger Mask vs. Jushin Thunder Liger is not a feud that I expected to have as a Regional company, yet here I am.

My player character also lost a 96 rated Junior Heavyweight Championship match against Liger. That was an insane rating to get this early into the game and basically pushed my player character into the main event scene.

End of the Year role of Year 2 was adding a "little brother" character to the game. I hired the little brother and he became loyal to my company. Simoultaneously NJPW and AJPW both hired him on a PPA/Touring contract. Within three months he has gotten from 0 pop, to 40 in Japan

Such a small thing, but I did a FCW save, brought in Cali Slick on a PPA and gave him a massive Heel Push, burning the Puerto Rican flag, etc. Obviously Puerto Rican Power took issue with that, and these two absolutely destroyed each other all over the island for 6 months. Cali Slick became a legend in Puerto Rico.

AAA game. Put Amber Allen in a match with Simony Sentinel. Put Ellie Mae Walton on commentary, since she was in a storyline with Simony. And, since it was to further the story, I figured "Storytelling" was the match aim to use. That was all I remember doing. After a match, I got a road agent note that said something to the effect of "the raw physicality overwhelmed some members of the audience." I don't know how that happened, and I've never seen it since, but I like to imagine that Simony & Amber pulled a Benoit/ Angle and just decided to step it up a notch.

My New Japan USA game. Currently in March 2021 and things have shaped up to be different.

In little over a yeast, I bought out MARVELOUS, Zero-1, GCW, as well as opening two development companies in USA and British Isles. Managed to get Marty Scurll to 90+ pop, with him constantly delivering 100 rated segments. This was the first time I’d really gone far with a game and built the roster up, so it’s one I’m looking to continue in TEW 2020.

I even bought out NOAH in March, adding them as a brand exclusive to Japan. Thinking of splitting away from New Japan and going through a rebranding so I can take the fight to them as well.

WCW Lives Save, or more specifically:

Having Kanyon live up to his potential, 92 pop in the US.

Stealing The Rock for ALL THE MONEY.

Stealing Brock before he even hit the main roster.

Building CM Punk, John Cena and Jamie Knoble as the future.

Starrcade 2003 in its entirety.

Beating WWF in the ratings, national battles, pop and importance.

I will never have a better save than this. I'm sure of it.

I'd love to hear more about this!

I don't even know where to start with this.

With making Kanyon The Man to take over the New New World Order, holding the belt for 6 months and elevating him to 90 pop?

With Steiner vs. Booker T, the feud that lasted nearly 6 months? Booker's 8 month reign as champ?

Maybe with how Punk, Cena, Knoble and RVD made up the future of the company, and turned the US Title into a midcard title rather than a weird Upper Mid/Main Event belt? The injury Punk caused Knoble to miss a whole year only to come back and get revenge?

The STACKED tag team division consisting of my best creation to date, Buff Bagwell Jeff Jarrett and Ric Flair - The V.I.Ps, my second best creation of Dustin and Ernest Miller being the wackiest duo ever, or perhaps my third best - Bam Bam Bigelow and BG James?

Maybe with Goldberg's return, when he finally destroyed the nWo?

Brock Lesnar and The Rock teaming up to wreck havoc?

Bret Hart taking Bryan Danielson under his wing while Arn Anderson takes AJ Styles under his resulting in the most WCW tag team match I ever had?

There's so much in this save I already forgot man. It was a damn good save

<p>WCW 2001 save. Had Mike Sanders as a top heel leading the Sanders Army and putting on some great matches against the likes of Flair & Sting.</p><p> </p><p>

In the same save having Goldberg/Booker T in a 3 year angle having planned for them to face three Starrcades in a row - only got to 2nd Starrcade.</p><p> </p><p>

A lot of happy memories on this TEW16 - although really struggled with long term saves compared to the ones I had on EWR and TEW05.</p>

<p>TCW save that went to 2020</p><p> </p><p>

Booking the team of Ford Starchild (Kirk Jameson) and Ziggy Prince (Davis Wayne Newton) along with their manager Sandy Jett (Haley Buck) to slowly build up and become the best thing in the company and co-holders of the TCW World Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

The Firm of Aaron Andrews, Cameron and Christian Luger (Cameron Jones and Syd Collier) and Romeo Slater (Ernest Youngman) along with his valet Venus and DC Milliband their financial advisor (AK Garcia). They ran the company for 2 years only slightly falling to Sammy Bach and White Angel on occasion and eventually went into a Total Mayhem match against Sammy Bach, Jay Chord, White Angel and Greg Keith, that saw The Firm lose and then having Matthew Keith debut and kicking out Ace. Which led to Greg leading a massive fued between the stables that ended in a 60 Minute Ultimate Submission match at Total Mayhem.</p><p> </p><p>

The push of Tyson Wolf (Logan Wolfsbaine) and Andreas Garza (Xavi Ferrera) into 4 time tag champions as well as having a 100 match with The Dynamite Express. And the eventual break up.</p><p> </p><p>

The House of Chord running for only 3 months before egos got the better of everyone.</p><p> </p><p>

Jay Chord jobbing out RDJ in 5 minutes to retire him. RDJ then becoming the Sheriff of TCW and being attacked by The Firm only for Jay to make the save and turn ultra face.</p><p> </p><p>

So much happened in that save.</p>

<p>In my created company, I spent over a year in-game building up WALTER as this unstoppable force, taking him from Enhancement Talent to Main Event in the process (aided by having Paul Heyman as his manager). He was completely undefeated and kept hold of my lower-level singles title for 60+ defences, then when building up to him challenging for my world title. He ruptures his spinal cord, has more than a year out and retires.</p><p> </p><p>

I then did the same thing with Dave Mastiff, fortunately Dave has thus far avoided serious injury. But this is a great memory, as I'd wasted valuable hours building WALTER only to see it shattered into a million pieces.</p><p> </p><p>

I've also had a lot of spinal ruptures on this save, I've lost KENTA, Roderick Strong, WALTER and Zack Sabre Jr in a little over three years in-game time.</p>

<p>Oh man, yeah I get kinda sad with the new game only a few days away. I've been playing Adam's games since the old EWD days, but I think I had the most fun with TEW 2016. There is one extraordinary save that i am still playing every now and then. </p><p> </p><p>

I used the Dawn of the Attitude Mod and took WWF but the save really became truly fun when WCW poached succesfully every main eventer I had leaving from the original crop of 1996 main eventers nobody but Brian Pillman (who was arguably not a main eventer at that point). I think the game is always the most fun when competition takes your talent away and you have to build stars. Otherwise the main event scene gets extremely crowded after a couple of years in-game time, especially if you play a promotion above cult. </p><p> </p><p>

But I was lucky enough to keep Austin, Rock, Bret and Brian Pillman as my four cornerstones over the next few years slowly graduating new stars into the main event picture. Then Bret and Austin got poached as well but guys like Jericho, Edge, my own character or Randy Orton were already stars. </p><p> </p><p>

Good times! Really excited for the new game though <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

In my cv97 save Victoria Stone dumped Sean McFly. A few months later McFly had some prostitute scandal. In my created company Scout caused a huge locker room rift with John Greed. I wanted to try a screwjob finish just so I could say with a black eye that Scout screwed Scout...but Greed's a better man then me. I never did push through to National. HGC has all the stars I think they had a 4,400 score.

My favorite moments for TEW 2016 saves come from when I created custom companies and had them rise from regional to eventually national.

First one was the Order of the Phoenix, drawing inspiration from one of the logos in the CV picture folder, and I eventually turned them to just be called ORDER. With an equal focus on both in ring and angles it was fun to be able to do both well. Have to thank The Lloyd for making awesome graphics for it! Really made the save come to life.

Q1RMf4I.jpgAped5lj.jpg

One of my favorite things from ORDER is that I managed to turn one of the workers in SWF that I found the most boring into a lot more interesting. Turned Squeeky McClean into the intense and brutal John Ambush, who had his own stable that dominated the product.

sBkrOCZ.jpg

The second company I made used the Piledriver School of Wrestling logo from the dojo of the same name, and I just took that and named the company the save. Now with a bigger focus on in ring than in ORDER I could really get stuck into lining up the best matches.

3QunGuv.jpg

My favorite thing from that save is the feud I had going between the brothers Matthew Keith and Greg Gauge, with the famous line of Matt telling Greg "YOU DESTROYED OUR FATHER!" refering to the fact that Greg had reverted back to their real family name, destroying kayfabe in his eyes, and also all their dad had worked for. Matt was the face in this feud, and part of that was that Greg was being groomed and managed by the great Emma Chase. Their final showdown produced a 99 rating, tied for the best match we did.
