CWA Discussion Thread

What do you all think is the best Match Focus and Angle Focus for CWA? It took me a few weeks to realize that one of the reasons my shows weren't doing so well is because I had the default Ensemble focus on, think that dragged me down some because of my booking style.

Ensemble (and the equivalent for angles) certainly makes the most narrative sense. The whole concept is they took two companies and now have the massive combination of both rosters. They should be evaluated based on the full card.

If you're just looking for the best ratings, more focus on the best match/segment will pretty much always give the best overall show grade.

So after signing Tommy Cornell last week and installing him as my world champion immediately, last night I signed Edward Cornell from 21CW and I had to offer him an insane amount to prevent SWF from signing him. There goes my finances.

Wouldn't the merch revenue from them cover most of their monthly cost?

Also, i've always been partial to have them both dominate the tag division as their too old to use as main event? Whats your story for using them?

So Tommy is still able to pull in good ratings the reason why I brought him in was because once I made my last size jump I kept getting emails that said that I didn't have enough stars. Sure I could create some which is what I'm in the process of doing but it's a slower process so Tommy's contract was coming up and I decided to do it because he's the one star that I could get so I wouldn't have that problem anymore. Acquiring Tommy instantly changed my plans. Before that I was going to give the world title to Aaron Knight but once I signed Tommy I had him win the title in his very first match and he's going to have a long run with it.

When I signed Edward I did so without having any specific plans for him, I tend to play this game as a game because that's what it is but I'll figure it out I always do. With Tommy as the current champion I may not be able to form a tag team between Edward and Him because Tommy is busy but depending on what Edwards perception is once his other contracts are up I'll make my decisions after that.

1 Month Update:

Made $327k profit, started a 1 Hour B Show right away and increased the A Show to 2 hours.

Hired the McWade Brothers for 3 months to leech some overness to my Face Teams like T+L and Griffins. Will eventually have them job to Gen Z but for now going to try to not tank them too much.

Hired a makeshift Face jobber team of Too Hot and Nathaniel Casino (Hot Streak), a face jobber who can have good matches in Harry Allen and a heel female jobber in Steffi Chee. Also hired Katie Cameron as a backstage interviewer just because I like the realism of having people be interviewed instead of just randomly cutting a promo backstage to a camera.

Lost 1 point of overness as a company because I am a terrible booker. Also had Christian Price drop from Major Star to Star for the same reason.

Total Elimination 3 got a 75. Best A Show I've done got a 78 and worst got a 69. Having fun with the save, hope I don't keep tanking the company, though.

The Popularity caps are killing me. I got Erik Strong to be a megastar with 88 avg popularity(randomly bulked to a muscular lightweight and upped his star quality to 90 so I put the title on him.) but I can't seem to get my best wrestler Aaron Knight past 78 no matter if he defeats Cameron Vessey or Erik Strong.

Marc Dubois is my TV champion but he seems capped at 70 so I was thinking of putting him over a face Christian Price(who's also capped at 76) but because of the cap I'm thinking Price goes over.

I started with CWA and immediately cancelled my TV contract and turned them into a Japanese-style touring company. Having a blast so far. Midway through the Super Slam tour which I've turned into a G1 style (if anyone is familiar with NJPW) round robin tournament where the winner will get a title shot at Ultimate Showdown.

Thats a Dope Idea!

All I've done so far is cut 4 of the PPVs, placed the ones I have left 6 weeks apart, and added a Fight Night Friday (Similar to TNA OFN) halfway between each PPV. I only have the the FNF lesser events just to air SOMETHING in America even if it is small, using WrestleWorld.

So this might be my favorite save file i've had in TEW2020. I'm about a year and a quarter into my CWA file and the promotion is on a hot streak. I just had my season finale in April which is WrestleFestival Day Two. Headlined by Aaron Knight who was the champion defending against Donte Dunn. Dunn won and the match got a 99 and the overall show got a 100. I think it's either the second time I've got a 100 or the first I honestly don't remember.

My current champions are:

Donte Dunn (World Champ)

Brooke Tyler (Women's Champ)

Mr. Impact (TV Champ)

Griffin Family (Tag Champs)

The crazy thing is I have a pretty diverse roster. I've signed Canadian Animals for the tag division, Rick Law, Lenny Brown, Greg Gauge, Mikey Lau, Running Wolf, Primus Allen, Joss Thompson and just recently signed Jay Chord and Bret Starr. I think what makes me so happy about the save is that even though I've signed some big names, my current champs are all original CWA roster members. And that's a year and some change in. Christian Price, Cameron Vessey, Sonny Wildside (who's in a really good tag team with Mario da Silva) and David Stone are still high in the mix and haven't been relegated with all the new signings.

I've recently made enough money and got the TV deal finally over that I started a CWA Network that is still just Big in Canada but I have it small in US and Japan. I also started up a performance centre for CWA. It's bare bones but ACPW is struggling financially and it doesn't seem like they will be around much longer so I figure I can buy them out in a few months and then my performance center will have graduates I can sign and put them in ACPW.

Hey everybody! Just started a CWA save and got hit with the "not enough viewers to grow" after the first show. What broadcast path do you all take with CWA? Thanks.

Late to this, my apologies, but to grow in Canada, you're going to need a better broadcaster, and they only way that is happening is to build your pop in the U.S. The two feasible options at the start of the game are make your own broadcaster or make a second show and put it on OnDem.

Oh man, I wish I'd known this when I was starting out... to be fair, it's not like my booking did the product any favours 😅 but that is a good plan regardless. How feasible is making my own broadcaster/platform within the first month? Do I need to save up for a bit or can I splash the cash immediately?

It's been a while since I've loaded up the game, but if memory serves, CWA starts somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.5-3 million. That is more than enough to start a network with coverage in the U.S. as a complement to the main show's broadcaster. However, I like making a second show, as more shows improve your workers and get you closer to that extra skill point.
