TEW 2020 Small Questions Thread

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but I'm running a new company with Peter Michaels as the owner, being joined by Phil Vibert at the announce table. Running out of Mid South and wanted to do a Tag Team Invitational but wanted to attach someone's name to it (like the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic).

Who would be someone whose name could be attached to such a tournament? I was looking for some connection to Michaels, Vibert, or the Mid South. Is the Ed Henson Cup still a thing? I looked but couldn't see it as a belt I could purchase (I know it was a trophy), and didn't see it with CWA either.

Any input would be appreciated.

A really dumb question but doing some playing around

what are classed as dangerous match set ups?

Hardcore and deathmatch are pretty obvious, but dangerous seems abit more vGue

When you go through the product styles quite a few say dangerous match set ups will be penalised, so does that mean ladder and cage matches? If so a bit out of whack with some of the product styles.

Or am i reading too much into penalties?

Playing as NJPW , after every event i keep getting "would have gained popularity in 6 british regions but growth was restricted due to limited number of viewers there" is that completely down to the broadcasting for events? i currently have an on demand deal there with small coverage

Yes. There is a cap based on the number of viewers, which is affected by you broadcaster coverage.

so avoid the many default angles that are only overness?

Yes. There is a note saying certain ‘rated on’ segments can only go a short length of time, so you may not get penalised if it goes under 3 minutes, or you turn the angle to minor. Depending on your angle focus, your overall show rating would not get affected.

I downloaded and imported a big angle pack and a lot of them were useless because of this very reason.

<p>I was looking at the creative team function, which hasn't changed in ages, and wondered what others do with theirs. </p><p> </p><p>

I know what show stopper, ring general etc. entails but how do people typically book the next big things etc.-- I have some in mine and I just don't see it personally...!</p>

Hello guys, thoughts on this: I am about three months into my save, my figurehead is after every match getting "penalised due to being in extremely poor form" ... he hasnt taken a single pin in all of the matches ive had him in, he is still turning in 80-85 performances but im getting this penalty every time? any ideas ?

I believe, and I could be wrong, that it has to do with him not being in the right kind of shape

It has to do with the match risk levels more than the specific thing. I think for dangerous it is anything medium or higher.

Id been trying to nose around his profile to see if anything popped up but didnt see anything, if it is about not being in the right shape is there anything I can do about this? maybe something in the interactions screen ?

This sounds like a temporary attribute at play where they’re just on a cold streak.

Not always. It's kinda there as an honors system to prevent the player from gaming the system too much.

To me, overness angles such as those where the loser beats up the winner are supposed to be non consequential-- those angles where no one looks back and says "Now that was good." A real life example of the opposite of this would be something like when The Dark Order beat up Cody for like 10 minutes, and people considered that one of the better angles AEW has done.

Question by someone looking to return to TEW

Morning all,

I played a bit of TEW 10, a LOT of TEW 13, was put off by the UI of 16 and as I was quite happy with 13 stuck with that.

I would love to make the jump to 20. I have read and searched many of the older posts regarding the issues and complaints (and arguments) regarding TEW 20, and decided at the time to wait 6-12 months to see if these would be resolved before buying. A search of the forums shows mixed opinions.

WITHOUT wanting to start a back and forth between contrasting opinions, please may I have answers to the following from those of you who have been playing TEW 20 this past year;

1) Is there now a way to substitute numbers with letters regarding abilities and grades?

2) Have the money issues been resolved with patches, where stockpiling of money and the ease with which money is obtained, been sorted? I can't see them listed in patch notes but apologies if they have.

3) One issue I reached with my TEW 13 save was a lack of balanced or quality "new" wrestlers joining the Cornellverse after several years. I had to create them myself, which took some of the magic and spontaneity out of it. Is that an issue with 20?

4) I understand the new product system is here to stay - I understand there are many to choose from; is there a way of tweaking one to add five minutes to expected match times etc? I just don't want to find a good product for me and then be stuck doing 10 minute matches.

5) Are there issues with wrestlers making unrealistic gains stat wise?

6) Would you recommend it after a year of playing it? Are the niggles gamebreaking and you wish you hadn't bothered? Or is it like anything where because it's new some are initially put off by the change but once you get the hang of it it is better?

7) Are there any issues I am not aware of that you have solutions for? Simple things to you but something a relative noob (so far as 20 is concerned) like me wouldn't know? Are these hints listed in one place somewhere?

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer these. I have had a search through the forums but have only found bits and pieces at best, and getting the opinion of those of you who have sunk hours (days... weeks...) into TEW 20 would be very much appreciated.

This is visible effect of the "In A Funk" attribute, which gives a penalty to every match the worker is in. It's the opposite of the "Midas Touch" attribute which gives a bonus, which itself is a weaker version of the "Groundswell Of Support" attribute which also gives bonuses to angles as well as matches. :) "In A Funk" lasts up to two years so you're going to have to endure that for a while and I assume it was preset by your mod maker as a challenge for using whoever it is to reflect a rough stage in their life as a wrestler. I am assuming it's Roman Reigns or John Cena for some reason. :p

Let me preface this by saying I’ve never played the series before 20. So hopefully you get a different point of view than somebody with perhaps a nostalgic sensibility.

1) There are no letter grades in the game as yet. Everything is numbers 0-100.

2) Making copious amounts of money is still easy to do. Once you have a broadcaster and dojo’s bought and paid for, you will be raking it in. USPW will be rolling in it. I am coming up to the end of year 5 starting a new company from scratch and I’m making 4mil per month profit. I like to spend it rather than see it taxed though.

3) I am seeing some good wrestlers come through but it’s a good mix. I’m playing a CVerse save, with a couple of Dojos. Depending on the quality of the dojo, you get a variety of quality rookies through. I’ve had one great prospect each intake so far out of my female dojo. You do get to see some raw talents randomly generated, but the problem is getting them trained up. There are no out-of-the-box rookies you can slide into your main event as I believe there was on previous iterations. You have to build workers up through years of experience.

4) You cannot tweak any product, nor can you add new ones. There are quite a few to choose from and you are not limited to match length unless your product stipulates long matches will turn the crowd off, but these tend to be entertainment or crash tv based ones. Hopefully you can find one that suits your style.

5) My workers make very big gains in basics and safety, but everything else is quite slow. Fundamentals grow quite quickly up to 40, but then slow down to a crawl. So finding workers with 60/70 in technical/puro is quite good. I haven’t had a problem with it in my save.

6) Having not played 2016, I can’t compare it. However theres nothing game breaking about the game. You can get annoyed by the ease at which money is made and perhaps it needs to be addressed and the economy/industry having a much bigger impact on income and audience numbers. I can still make money as a new company with a rock bottom economy and industry and did so in my save when I first started out (economy hit 0!)

7) There could probably be a guide made, but I don’t think anybody has created a definitive one. Most issues can be found on here or just ask.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I think I'll buy as I can forgive the grade system and there's so much I want to try that's new and improved.

I can forgive the money situation as it doesn't stop me booking, which is my favourite part. Hopefully there'll be a patch for that.

I just wanted to check there wasn't a "game breaking" scenario as was being reported in several instances at the game's launch. (accurately or otherwise)

I guess game-breaking is subjective. My only annoyance is that you can exploit the game quite easily and be “games” to your advantage quite readily. I certainly think some more balancing needs to happen to strike a balance between a fantasy booking game and allowing longevity in saves.

I was a person who preferred grades but I got used to numbers. With the new color system on ratings it basically equals grades anyway. 70 and above is green so that tells you that they are good to great, there's white which is kind of middle of the road, there's yellow which is below average and there's red that is awful.

There's still issues at times but those are few and far between. Adam and his people have fixed most of the major issues.
