Paul Heyman's TNA 2010 | The Young, Hungry, Aggressive Alternative!

Recommended Posts

> Tomko Losing

I'm not a body or size guy (total lie, heavyweights forever), but Tomko losing has been a thing since the start of the game. He's about as intimidating as 2000 Tank Abott.

> Respect

I think you might need to catch yourself using this word. TNA famously overused it in promos between guys talking about how much they respected their opponent and it got very repetitive and very old.

> Okada

He only wrestled 18 matches for TNA, so you can't do any worse. Personally, might I suggest the Goldberg Push?

> Mick Foley

Man, this really was the Mick Foley episode, wasn't it? I can almost hear Bryan and Vinny ranting about this on the B&V Show.

> Title Change!

Huh. Still digesting that close out to the show. Not sure how I feel about MCMG getting their run cut short. Maybe I'm being worked? (nah...)

Everything else was fun, especially AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. Joe's path back to the World Title has been long in the waiting. (That tattoo though...)

Loved this show, really enjoyed the video integrations in this episode in particular really felt like it worked well and it is clear you take time to pick the right moments for the story.

I've always enjoyed Tomko (way back to the EWR days when I pushed him to the moon as Travis Bane) but I struggle to see his value with his current momentum. He feels like a guy that needs a 6-month off screen, repackage as a mercenary or something.

My feeling on Lockdown is that while pure cage matches is a bit crazy, you can likely build enough around variations of cage matches or cage style matches (Shoot Fight, Cage Submission Only etc that it could work).

Loved the PPV. I think you've said it doesn't actually take you that long, and it has been said previously, but the little cuts you do to the moves really does help me picture it all happening. First thing that stood out was Rob Terry's insane physique in that picture! I think you're definitely right that him and Anderson sort of in a role similar to MJF and Wardlow in AEW at the moment will really work for Anderson.

I liked the AJ promo, it's the sort of thing which as soon as you point out why that match was different, and why Joe is a special opponent it's all obvious and I knew it, but it was still done well and did hype up the match. Curious where Joe goes on from here, and it's definitely solidified AJ as his reign has already been super impressive.

Strange to see you get another 71 (although part of me likes the fact that all 3 PPVs have score the same as it's speaks to the consistency but also means when you finally get closer to the 75ish mark it will stand out). But yeah with the main event much higher and even the 2nd best match still scoring a 71 I think you were unlucky. Speaking of ratings I definitely think it will have been the 'keep strong' note on the Kurt match that will have hurt it, not to say that you shouldn't have done it as it's probably more important that Kurt keeps popularity than a middle of the card match pulls a higher rating, but from my experience keep strong really does limit a match.

You weren't lying that the WM card was weird!

Them deciding suddenly to love triple threats is odd. Evan Bourne in the title match made me think of Michgcs diary that started with Evan Bourne winning the world title. I think that would have been around 2010 actually so perhaps it's not such a crazy thought for him to have exploded in popularity around that time.

I love that it started with a 2 on 2 brawl having to be pulled apart, and then that lead into the exact same segment but with a different 4 people.

Like you say Diesel tagging with Ezekial and Swagger is weird.. them being collectively known as 'The Goblins' is hilarious. I'm assuming what happened in my mind... is Swagger started a feud with Jerry Lawler for some reason, Lawler was then backed up by Primo and Epico so Swagger said ok I'll get two people to back me up, so he went out and found the two biggest people he could find which just so happened to be Diesel and Jackson. How they then became known as The Goblins though completely escapes me. I also love the idea that all three members of The Goblins were interviewed on the show.. but separately! and two of which after the match.

I genuinely would pay to see that card. It's in that perfect zone of so odd that it's must see, but not too odd that it's unbelievable that it could have actually all happened. What can I say no matter what you do with TNA it looks like WWE is always going to win the war!

This actually came up on my recommended viewing on youtube before. Which shouldn't be too surprising given that I've obviously watched the others... but still thought it was pretty neat.

Another strong episode, as someone said on youtube I wouldn't worry about the ratings too much. In a way it just means the eventual improvements will mean more and seem realistic.

I always remember liking Lethal Lockdown so will look forward to seeing what you got planned for it.

Lizzy Valentine actually appeared for TNA in their early years as a heel with Trinity, in a feud with the cage dancers. That era of 'women's wrestling' failed miserably and everyone involved kind of got sent out of the company fairly quickly. She's also a Homicide trainee.

Edit: Oh damn, you really wrecked things for yourself.

<p>I figured I should give you a heads up that I'm making my way through the videos now. I was a young fan of TNA in 2010, mainly due to AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Sting, Kurt Angle, etc etc etc. </p><p> </p><p>

When Hogan came in, he absolutely destroyed the company so I am happy to see an alternate timeline here <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
