Matt Edwards (ME): Hi, I'm Matt Edwards and I'm here with my partner Daniel Tuxford. Good night Daniel!

Daniel Tuxford (DT): Hi Matt! Good night to you and the MMA fans who follow our broadcast.

ME: Exactly Daniel. Live from Saitama Super Arena we will bring PRIDE 35: Reinaisscence. The theme of the event already says a lot about it, many point to the revival of PRIDE, after it almost ended.

Today the card features 9 fights and the Gracie family appears with three representatives on the card. Including the two main fights. Speaking of the main event, what are your expectations for Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Royce Gracie, Daniel?

DT: Matt, the classic fight between Sakuraba and Royce will have another episode here. In 2000, the historic 90-minute fight ended with Sakuraba as the winner and i believe that the Japanese will again take the lead.

ME: The card is promising tonight and MMA fans today will meet the participants of the next PRIDE GP...

DT: Matt, I met some fighters, who will compete in the GP, in the hotel hall and i can say that it will be another excellent tournament.

ME: Come on! Here everything is ready for the opening of the event. And right after that we are already going to the first fight MMA fans, who will accompany us tonight on blurcat.com. Now it's up to her, the "PRIDE voice" Lenne Hardt!

Damn, the Lightweight GP looks STACKED!! Also, how did you manage to convince Fedor to compete in the heavyweight GP when his brother is also competing? Wouldn't it lead to a conflict of interest?

Anyways, that card was pretty good! A lot of fights went the distance, but overall, some solid grappling action! And gono getting KO by hornbuckle really was a surprise!

Heyyy kinnikuniverse!!

The GP Lightweight is of better quality than the Heavyeight, in relation to fighters of the world ranking, but I believe that they will be two great tournaments.

In relation to Fedor and Aleksander, they already competed in the 2006 openweight GP and if they face each other in the final, as they are each in a bracket, they will have to compete, part of it hehehe

I expect more fights to be finished, but, I thought that besides Hornbuckle, Takimoto also surprised me, I thought Ralek would win ...

I think the next card, the GP card, will have more fights closed before the decision.

thanks for commenting!

Tomorrow PRIDE GP 2007 starts and this year we will have two grand prix with the divisions, Heavyweight and Lightweight. Blurcat.com will preview the fighters and what to expect for these two tournaments that will end in December at Final Conflict 2007.

TOP 3 Favorites

Heavyweights: Certainly many experts point out, Fedor Emelianenko (27-1-1 NC, 14-0-1 NC PRIDE) as the big favorite among Heavyweights. As a former PRIDE champion, he will already enter the quarter-finals of the tournament and this can facilitate his path to the title. Another favor pointed out by our team is Josh Barnett (23-5, 5-4 PRIDE). Barnett despite 5-4 in his PRIDE record, his losses went to top contenders Mirko Crocop (3x) and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, in a rematch as Barnett had beaten him. As the third favorite, we chose Sergei Kharitonov (15-4, 8-3 PRIDE). With victories Semmy Schilt, Murilo "Ninja", Pedro Rizzo and Fabricio Werdum, the Russian who has a great knockout power may surprise and will have the chance of a rematch against two opponents who have already defeated him: Aleksander Emelianenko and Alistair Overeem.

Lightweights: As in Heavyweights, Takanori Gomi (27-3-1 NC, 13-1-1 NC PRIDE) is the favorite fighter for the title. His impressive performances that earned him the title in 2005 and can happen again in 2007. The second choice is Shinya Aoki (13-2, 4-0 PRIDE). Aoki is one of the greatest athletes on the ground today, his submissions are varied and can take him to the title of the GP. And our third choice was Hayato Sakurai (30-7-2, 8-3 PRIDE). The experienced fighter can use his vast experience to advance in the tournament and perhaps win the title, which he almost won in 2005.

The Underdog

Heavyweights: Despite not being considered a favorite, Bob Sapp can use his strength and size to surprise opponents in the GP. The memorable fight against 'Big Nog' shows that despite lacking technique, his power can make a difference.

Lightweights: The underdog in this tournament is 'Kid' Yamamoto. With only one defeat in his cartel, Yamamoto comes from a great sequence under the banner of HERO´S and arrives at PRIDE to compete in a higher division than he normally competes. He has potential, but it would be a big surprise to see him with the title.

Debutants: Among the heavyweights, the Korean giant, Hong Man Choi and Roy Nelson will make their debut for PRIDE FC. Among the lightweights, we will have six debutants: Antonio McKee, Caol Uno, Eddie Alvarez, Gesias Cavalcante, Norifumi Yamamoto and Vitor Ribeiro.

The Undefeated: Soon many would imagine that it is Fedor, Gomi or some other big star, but the only undefeated in the race that disputes the GP is Hong Man Choi who has only one fight as a professional and has a victory.

The Undefeateds in PRIDE:When the subject has already entered the PRIDE specifically, the list increases. Among heavyweights we have two unbeaten: Fedor Emelianenko with 14-0-1 NC and Jeff Monson with only 1-0. In the lightweights only Shinya Aoki with 4-0, is the one who never lost in the PRIDE ring.

BRACKETS

Today also PRIDE announced the tournament brackets.

Check out the duels yet to be announced on the card. The expectation is that the order of the fights will be revealed on the day of weigh-in.

hehehe... kinnikuniverse, Kawajiri was caught ... If I'm not mistaken, Cavalcante is one of the experts in Guillotines, so it wasn't so surprising, as well as 'Shaolin' catching Alvarez.

Really incredible! not because Overeem was knocked out, but Goodridge knocked him out in 23 seconds was shocking!

Mannnn Bob Sapp is a monster and strong, however, Yoshida is a ground specialist and also very strong. But, I confess, I was waiting for Sapp for KO or referee interrupting the fight.

I am also anxious to know what will happen.

Thanks for the comments!

PRIDE 36 FULL CARD REVEALED; FRANK SHAMROCK VS. MELVIN MANHOEF IS THE MAIN EVENT

PRIDE is returning to Osaka for what will be its seventh event in that city. It will be PRIDE 36, which will have two fights between the middleweight as the main attractions of the show.

The main event will feature former UFC and WEC champion Frank Shamrock against dangerous striker Melvin Manhoef, both of whom will make their PRIDE debuts.

Shamrock (22-8-2) had his sequence of eleven fights without losing, 10 wins and a draw, interrupted with a loss by disqualification against Renzo Gracie. Shamrock landed illegal knees on the ground and Gracie was unable to return to the fight.

Manhoef (17-3-1) recovered from the loss to Yoshihiro Akiyama, in March when he defeated Yoshiki Takahashi by TKO, in the extinct Hero´s.

The co-main event brings the return of the 'Phenon'. Vitor Belfort (15-8, 5-3 PRIDE) returns to the rings in Japan, after fighting for Cage Rage in April, where he defeated Ivan Serati. In his last fight for PRIDE, Belfort was defeated by Dan Henderson by unanimous decision.

Belfort's opponent will be Henderson's training partner Matt Lindland. Lindland (20-5) had a recent successful run through the defunct IFL, where he achieved a 2-0 record. In his most recent fight, he was defeated by Fedor Emelianenko in a fight in the Heavyweight Division, two categories above his.

Frank has fought only twice on the last 3 years, but the last one was recent and ended quickly, he must come with a lot of desire. But on the other side there is a monster that can define the fight quickly.

hehehe PRIDE loves to fight like this ... A great boxer against a great kickboxer, he can only finish in KO.

Woah, so many upsets! Kikuta winning is probably the biggest one of the night!

I don't agree with the tamura-sobral decision. I believe sobral won. A rematch down the road?

Frank shamrock shows he hasn't lost a step. Him vs minowaman will be very interesting, to say the least.

According to the odds, Ray Sefo was the big underdog of the night (+520). But, I think for me the result of surprise was Overeem against Thompson, I thought the 'Colossus' would win ...

I thought Tamura-Sobral was very close ... They have fought three times, I think we will not have another fight between them, except in a GP or title fight.

Despite Shamrock's request, Minowa already has a scheduled fight (to be announced soon) and the duel between them will have to wait for a future opportunity.

KEN SHAMROCK-DON FRYE 2 OFFICIAL FOR PRIDE 37 ON SEP 15

Although already listed on Blurcat.com, and confirmed over by PRIDE Fighting Championships President Nobuyuki Sakakibara, the ink has finally dried for the fight.

On Thursday morning, PRIDE announced that Ken Shamrock (26-12-2, 1-3 PRIDE) and Don Frye (18-6-1-1 NC, 3-4 PRIDE) have signed their bout agreements to face one another again at PRIDE 37. The two will square off on Sep. 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center on Paradise in Nevada, USA. They will meet for the second time, and over five years removed from their first pairing at PRIDE 19 in 2002, where Frye won by split decision.

Since the first fight in PRIDE 19, Shamrock has 1-5, his only victory was over Kimo Leopoldo at UFC 48. In this period he fought against Tito Ortiz three times. The first fight was worth the UFC Light Heavyweight title and Ortiz won. And the result was repeated twice more. The other defeats went to former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin and PRIDE legend Kazushi Sakuraba. In his last four fights, Shamrock was defeated by TKO in the first round.

Frye, who after beating Shamrock, took the record 14-1. He competed eleven more times since that first duel. Among these eleven fights are the memorable battle with Yoshihiro Takayama in PRIDE 21, a losing streak for Yoshida, Goodridge and Coleman, who ended up taking Frye to rival HERO´S. After some time away from PRIDE, Frye returned in his most recent fight and ended up losing to James Thompson by TKO at PRIDE 34.

In the co-main event, Ricardo Arona seeks redemption from his loss to Sokoudjou, and returns to the PRIDE ring to face former KOTC champion James Lee.

Arona is not in a good phase in his career with 1-3 in his last four fights. Lee, who made his PRIDE debut in February, beat Travis Wiuff with a guillotine in just 39 seconds and most recently won the KOTC Light Heavyweight title.

The show will take place at Thomas & Mack Center in Paradise, Nevada, USA. It will broadcast by ESPN Africa, Eurosport Russia, SkySports 2, NHK, Polsat Sport, Fox Sports Asia, CBS Sports Network, ESPN Latin America and Fox Sports Australia. The card will also cover Blurcat.com's play by play with "The Voice" Matt Edwards and Daniel Tuxford.

PULVER RETURN TO PRIDE

The PRIDE FC announced the return of Jens Pulver (21-8-1, 2-2 PRIDE). After a disappointing brief return to the UFC with two defeats, Joe Lauzon by KO at UFC 63 and Kenny Florian by TKO at UFC Fight Night: Serra vs. Hughes, Pulver decided to return to PRIDE where he obtained his last victory against Kenji Arai by KO in PRIDE Bushido 10.

Pulver signed for 5 fights with PRIDE and his re-debut has not yet been announced.

i figured something was wrong when i didn't see any japanese or japan-based foreigners on the card...and then i read that it takes place in vegas. pretty ambitious to have an event take place in UFC Territory, though.

are guys like sonnen, denis kang and glover teixera on one night only deals? cause i know that nick diaz and his brother are PRIDE Fanboys and Carlos Condit did make his name in japan before going to UFC, but i just can't imagine chael sonnen and texeira fighting in japan. Kang and GSP, Maybe, but not those two.

Well, Kang has done a lot of fights around here so he's already a good name. And as for Glover and Sonnen, Glover is starting his career and arrived with the moral to knock out Sokoudjou in the WEC, and Sokoudjou despite a quick spell in PRIDE knocked out two stars here, Nogueira and Arona. So I believe that Glover can be successful and as he always fought in the USA, his debut on this card is ideal.

As for Sonnen, the situation is even easier to explain. Henderson left PRIDE for the UFC, and Team Quest needed to leave someone to replace him, in this situation we signed with Sonnen and Lindland.

Thanks for the comments kinnikuniverse!

Great card! I'm excited AF to see the PRIDE debut of Uncle Chael and seeing how the American gangster of West Linn Oregon does

I'm also looking forward to seeing where Chael gets on this journey, let's see how he does in his first steps at PRIDE.

Thanks for the comments vladjarca!
