PRIDE ANNOUNCES NEW FORMAT IN THE BUSHIDO EVENTS AND MAY MAKE SOME CHANGES FOR THE NEXT YEAR.

<img src=https://cdn.mmaweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Nobuyuki-Sakakibara-Press032707-750.jpg>

Held this Monday afternoon, PRIDE Fighting Championships announced the return of Bushidos events for next year and PRIDE President Nobuyuki Sakakibara announced that these events will be held in a different format.

First he clarified the reasons for the cancellations of the Bushido events that were scheduled this year.

"Well, we were discussing a new format and we were going to hold the events normally, however, we didn't have as many fighters on the roster as we have now and so we had to cancel and focus on the GP and the numbered events.

About the new format Sakakibara said it will be a model for bringing in new talent and will put academies as teams, which will compete in a tournament at Bushido events.

"It will be a competition between big academies and dojos," he added.

"The idea is a league between the academies and to reveal new talents and in the grand final place the stars of these gyms to do the main fight. ''

Asked if he could speak if he already had a confirmed team, Sakakibara said.

"Yes, of course. Takada Dojo, Yoshida Dojo, Chute Boxe, BTT ... these are already in the project and we are still going to look for more teams to finalize the formats."

Last week Blurcat.com learned that PRIDE could undergo changes for the next year and Sakakibara answered questions about speculation about changes in weight divisions, expansion of events around the world and the creation of women's divisions in the event.

Weight divisions

"Perhaps there will be the creation of one under Lightweight. Fighters from the lighter divisions are emerging around the world and we have some of them competing among the lightweights, so we could do that next year."

Expansion around the world

"As for the expansion, we reach the point of holding events in the USA every year and this will continue. Our partners from Strikeforce and EliteXC will be able to help us and we could have great fights there. With respect to other countries, we arrived close to Brazil in 2005. , when Wanderlei Silva and 'Minotauro' Nogueira, were around, but our plan now is to stabilize in the USA and then take PRIDE around the world, soon. "

Creation of women's divisions

"We will certainly go for it, we are seeing the success of our partners Strikeforce and EliteXC, and most of the best fighters are here in Japan and why not take advantage of it. We will plan for it to happen, I don't know if it will happen in 2008, but in soon the female MMA will grow and we will participate in this growth. "

Kang thinks he can hang with Uncle Chael's thrash talking ways?:D

And Gary Goodridge vs. Mark Hunt sounds like a dream heavyweight bar fight, hope we get to see it!

Kang and Sonnen after that talk will have to solve in the ring, it is already being programmed...

Can't wait to see how these Bushido tournaments work out, should be a fun ride.

I intend to do it in the IFL style, but I still haven't decided if it would be a playoff tournament or two blocks with playoffs.

thanks for coment cage!

PRIDE FC PLUGS HOLE IN 12-FIGHT PRIDE 40 LINEUP

by Sean Smith

A speculated bout between PRIDE Fighting Championships welterweight contender Paulo Filho and veteran Yuki Kondo has been made official for main event in PRIDE 40 on Dec. 8 at the Kyocera Dome Osaka in Osaka.

Filho was scheduled to fight Denis Kang in PRIDE 36, but an injury ended up taking the Brazilian out of the fight. And after a year, since his victory over Kazuo Misaki, Filho will return to the PRIDE ring, where he remains undefeated with an 8-0 record.

Kondo will face the third Brazilian in a row. Since the return of PRIDE, Kondo has not lost and overcame Renzo Gracie and Evangelista 'Cyborg' Santos, both by unanimous decision.

The show will take place at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Osaka, Japan. It will broadcast by ESPN Africa, Eurosport Russia, SkySports 2, NHK, Polsat Sport, Fox Sports Asia, CBS Sports Network, ESPN Latin America and Fox Sports Australia. The card will also cover Blurcat.com's play by play with "The Voice" Matt Edwards and Daniel Tuxford.

PRIDE: FINAL CONFLICT 2007 LINEUP FINALIZED

<img src=https://i.imgur.com/rpEDgPR.png>

by Sean Smith

This Monday afternoon, PRIDE FC announced the full card at PRIDE: Final Conflict 2007.

Some fights had already been confirmed after the results in PRIDE: Critical Countdown, where the semi-finalists were decided, and now, the order of the fights has been revealed. The main event will be the GP Heavyweight final and the co-main event will be the GP Lightweight final.

The Heavyweight semi-finals put Fedor Emelianenko in a rematch against Kevin Randleman and Mark Hunt will face Aleksander Emelianenko. Some curious things may happen at this GP. Fedor may have to face his brother Aleksander, in case both of them win. Randleman and Hunt, will be able to beat both brothers in the same night, both will be able to take revenge on Fedor, because in this case, they have already been overcome by the legend of PRIDE.

In the GP Lightweight dispute, a lot of expectations for the fights and who will reach the final. The long-awaited duel between Gomi and Aoki is highly anticipated by fans, but, 'Kid' Yamomoto and Gesias Cavalcante run out, like underdogs wanting to postpone the favorites' plans.

That final 4 in the HW GP is awesome, I think we'll have Hunt vs. Fedor in the final with Fedor getting revenge for his brother! And then there's young Chael who's about to move to 2-0 in PRIDE

Can't help but notice you lost Frank Shamrock to the UFC tho :(

GP Heavyweight is fine, but, I think Lightweight will be very difficult to predict the champion, let's see what will happen.

Well was planning Shamrock vs. Belfort for the Shockwave card, but, the way out changed plans ... But we will pay back in the UFC... news very soon

I also think Fedor will likely win the HW GP, which is great. But since the LW GP is practically unpredictable, I will attempt to predict it. I'm calling it, and will stick to it when I make my actual predictions for the card, Gomi vs. Cavalcante with Gomi winning.

Man after Hunt defeated Barnett, I see him as the only one who can beat Fedor, but I think Fedor is very favorite.

Among the lightweights everything is very similar, I would bet on a Gomi vs. Aoki, but if I were to bet on an underdog I would also put Cavalante

PRIDE 40 WEIGH-IN RESULTS: ALL FIGHTERS MAKE WEIGHT

by Sean Smith

The so far undefeated in his career Paulo Filho will make his return to PRIDE by doing the main event of the night in front of Japanese MMA legend Yuki Kondo.

Filho (14-0, 8-0 PRIDE), who was scheduled to return to April, had his plans postponed due to an injury. In his last fight, the Brazilian submitted Kazuo Misaki in PRIDE Bushido 13 with an armbar, near the end of the first round.

Matt Edwards (ME): Hi, I'm Matt Edwards! Live from Kyocera Dome Osaka. Today Paulo Filho puts his invincibility at stake against Yuki Kondo in the main event of the night. Filho returns after just over a year without a fight and faces an opponent who has always been active and today returns to a main PRIDE Fighting Championships fight...

With me tonight my broadcast partner Daniel Tuxford.

Good night Daniel! Excited for another big card tonight?

Daniel Tuxford (DT): Good night Matt and MMA fans! I'm very excited about the return of Filho, this guy is a monster, he overcame great opponents in PRIDE and is undefeated and will certainly have another great fight against Yuki Kondo, a veteran of the sport, with more than 80 professional fights. Kondo was already a challenger to the PRIDE middleweight belt, he already fought against Wanderlei Silva, he had a close fight with Dan Henderson, where he was defeated in Split Decision, so he is not just any opponent.

ME: Come on! Here everything is ready for the opening of the event. And right after that we are already going to the first fight MMA fans, who will accompany us tonight on blurcat.com. Now it's up to her, the "PRIDE voice" Lenne Hardt!

FINALLY TIME HAS COME FOR THIS CARD !</p><p>

Any idea why all the HWs in the GP came in at 205lbs, tho?</p><p>

Also, my gut tells me Fedor might get upset, but my brain tells me "just bet on Fedor man" <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Yeah man... DREAM has just emerged to be PRIDE's great local rival, but, I think without big names they won't last long.

Thanks for watching this vladjarca ... it was just a typo that left all HW with 205 lbs, but it has already been fixed in the post.

I'll try to post the results now tonight to kill the curiosity of the friends who follow.

And for everyone here who reads, I have a lot of accumulated work, so I had to take a brief break, but after a while I already release the results.
