The Grudge tour has been interesting to say the least, most notably the Exploder League. With the initial leader Samura missing from action, Ant-Man took the first steps in consolidating his position at the top but then came Kokei Shoda. Winning 4 straight matches with 5 pins overall including one on Ant-Man and brought him straight into contention. But the situation complicated when Samura returned on Night #5 and demanded that he had been in a massive disadvantage since he was out injured so he needs to be considered. So, with three men all looking to get an opportunity of a lifetime, we make an explosive triple threat scramble match for the finals and this being the final stop before the historic Anniversary Show, expect some fireworks.

It is a rematch for ages between Yanagimoto and Tsubouchi as they battle for the second time with Tsubouchi the chaser this time around. Can they top their historic encounter at Blastology??

Miyazaki has been clamoring for competition since he has destroyed so many legends already but nobody had stepped up to him until Night #5 when a banner flew in Miyazaki's hands with the logo of the former cult promotion Inspire and the words I am coming written on it. Who can be the man?

Also for the 3rd month running, Sugimura will put his All Asia title on the line against a member of the Kingdom, this time he being Spyder Yakuta. With defenses already registered against Ant-Man and Beetle Kimura, can he make a hattrick or will Yakuta finally be able to grab some gold?

This is the last stop before the Anniversary Show.

Exploder League Edition 1 Finals Scramble Match

Kokei Shoda vs Ant-Man vs Sumiyuki Samura

The show started with the three-way finals of the 1st edition of the Exploder League. Samura was returning after a month but he was the initiator of most of the risky maneuvers and in the process, hurt his body as much as he hurt others. With a number of near falls with nobody getting the decisive one at the 14-minute mark, Ant-Man went for the Antidote and hit it on Samura but before he could cover, Shoda delivered a springboard legdrop on the Canadian and then locked his Around the World Armbar which Ant-Man had to tap out giving the decisive win and the match to Shoda.

Kokei Shoda wins the 1st edition of the Exploder League.

Shoda Promo

A highly emotional Shoda grabbed the mic when asked upon how would cash in his win and he said that tonight marks the start of his destiny to rise to the top and he will not let down any of his fans who supported him throughout his career. Now before he go on to the big money matches, he has a score to settle and he is willing to put his career on the line for it.

So, at the Anniversary Show, it will be a career vs career match between Disco Boys and Hustle-X because he needs to let go of his past before he can venture to bigger things and until they run out Yanagawa and Okakura from the promotion, they will not rest.

Kai Hanari walks out and tries talking some sense into his partner but after his explanations, he raises Shoda’s hands and although unwilling, still shows support for his decision.

Street Sharks © vs Order of the Dragon

The second defense for the Street Sharks came against a team they were pretty familiar with as these two had been feuding for a greater part of the last 3 years. A pretty emotional one seeing Kawagishi and Exile going toe to toe again after their match at Golden Challenger Series but in the end the young lion of OOTD, Kotani fell prey to an Exile Driver.

Tobei Sugimura © vs Spyder Yakuta

Sugimura had been 2-0 in defenses of his All Asia title against Kingdom, previously defeating Ant-Man and Kimura but Yakuta was a tougher challenge than the other two. His reliance on heavy strikes and painful stretches was difficult for Sugimura to overcome but he broke out of a Spyder Lock attempt when he got to the ropes but Kimura came in trying to influence the finish but it was Yakuta who got distracted asking Kimura to bring some weapon for him. Sugmiura saw the distraction and hit his Spinning Wheel Kick out of nowhere to grab a pin and shock Yakuta.

3-0 and counting against Kingdom.

Reveal of the Debutant

This one had generated huge hype ever since the banner of Inspire fell on Miyazaki’s hands. Miyazaki was waiting in the ring and trash talking with the crowd when the old Inspire logo flashed on the screen and then transitioned into the flag of Puerto Rico before a figure in boxer shorts and hoodie made his way on the entrance. He opened his hoodie and the arena went berserk.

It was Billy Russell. Miyazaki reacted as if he has seen a ghost.

Billy Russell vs Shingen Miyazaki

The shock of seeing “The Tap Out Artist” in Exodus ring was overwhelming for Miyazaki as he let that moment weaken him and Russell took full advantage, flooring him with some sick knee strikes to leg and stomach and then broke out his Grounded Knee Flurry and Miyazaki was having a tough time getting to recover. He escaped a couple of close calls and also managed to overcome Knee Bar attempt from Billy and then unleashed his own set of sick chops and suplexes with every suplex ending with a louder thud than the previous one. As he was going for his Ankle Lock, the timer run out and the match was declared draw. Miyazaki was seething and before he could do any further damage, Billy was escorted out of the ring.

The Monks © vs Diamond Dogs

It was a fast paced action between the champion and the challengers and Diamond Dogs executed some sick looking tandem moves and even managed to keep Tsuchie down but a tag to Yoshitaka brought about some much needed change in proceedings as he started firing off suplexes and DDT’s to both Kuroda and Stratosphere. After some more back and forth, the finishing sequence came when he ducked underneath a double clothesline attempt from the Dogs and then hit a clothesline of his own to both before power bombing Kuroda out of the ring and then hitting his Shaolin Powerbomb to Stratosphere to get the win.

Tsuneyo Yanagimoto © vs Masao Tsubaochi

It was a tough ask for Yanagimoto and Tsubaochi to top their previous encounter of last month but they managed to do that, a combination of great in-ring storytelling and psychology elevating this match to an early MOTY candidate for the promotion. After some shocking kick-outs from both of them, it was Yanagimoto who managed to get the 1st defense under his belt as he hit Tsubaochi with not one, not two but three Mikado Bombs to get the pin.

Yanagimoto underlines his reign with another victory over Tsubaochi! Wow. I mean it may have been excepted that Yanagimoto won't lose the belt right away, but that's a statement tho.

Billy Russell as the debutant is a cool addition to the roster. I really like Russell's MMA style a lot, I use him in a non-diary save in an american indy fed and I love him man. He's a believable and serious threat.

Miyazaki is running out of credible opponents as I want to keep him away for a title run a bit more and Russell is one big name in Japan who didn't have connections to PGHW or Burning Hammer and had the right size for my promotion so he was a no-brainer. These two will continue in our Anniversary show but I am still contemplating the match I want this two to have - perhaps an Iron Man Submission match??</p>

After the successful Grudge tour which culminated in Grudge Wars which saw Yanagimoto battle Tsubaochi for the second time which topped their previous encounter.

We also saw an epic return to Japan of the fan-favorite Puerto Rican legend Billy Russell as he wrestled to a time limit draw with the Legend Killer Miyazaki.

It's time next for the Anniversary Show which will be the 10th edition and the promotion is leaving no stones unturned to make it a historic event. One match has already been confirmed as the winner of the 1st ever Exploder League Match, Kokei Shoda turned heads when he challenged Hustle-X for a career vs career match. One team is definitely going to have to walk away at the end of the night.

EXODUS also announced a new tournament, the 1st ever EXODUS Rising Star Cup, where 8 young lions are divided in two blocks and the winner will get a chance to be called the best in his class.

Beetle Kimura then had a special announcement as he revealed that they have their own member in the tournament who is expected to come out on top.

Love the idea of the Rising Star Cup! Pretty interesting to do a Round Robin format, to be honest I was afraid to book so many young boy matches at WCG that's why my Hanami Cup is only single elimination so far lol

Yuta Isono is a no brainer in my opinion. This guy has the potential to be one of your best men in the future. I hope you'll sign him asap, provided he did decent in the tourney.

Isono has a sweet looking name for a finisher so at least he has that going for him. Hopefully, he shows potential enough. Americana Jr. is another one who I am having high hopes for.</p>

Lion’s Den was getting their first ever shot and the trio of Sugimura, Hyotaru and X-Calibre and they had the champs on the edge for most of the match and almost had it won when out of nowhere, Yakuta emerged from underneath the ring and blasted X-Calibre with the title belt and seeing him dazed, Exile capitalized with an Exile Driver to retain.

After the match, Yakuta was joined by Ant-Man as the both of them obliterated Lion’s Den with chairs in hand and knocked them out before to the surprise of many, Kijimuta came running in and sent the Kingdom members running. He then helped Sugimura to get up and then raised a hand.

After a friendly stare between the two, he opened his shirt to reveal a t-shirt underneath,

The final match was a battle royal as all 10 wrestlers made their way to the ring. Kawagishi was stunned and angry with the last segment as Kijimuta had just backstabbed them and joined Lion’s Den. This lit a fire inside him as he eliminated Ant-Man, Chess Maniac and Kikuchi single handedly.

Russell and Miyazaki renewed their rivalry from Grudge Wars and brawled, ultimately eliminating each other which did not deter their intensity and they kept brawling to the back.

Kawagishi was supported by Hirose and the two of them eliminated the former champ Tsubouchi before Hirose fell pray to a humongous powerbomb from Tsuchie straight out of the ring.

The final stretch was an intense affair as Kawagishi and Tsuchie kept outstriking each other but Kawagishi had the last laugh when he dodged an Orange Flash and then delivered a sick turnbuckle powerbomb before dumping him outside to win the match and book his own ticket to Anniversary X.

- Musashi picks up his second pinfall victory, again with his Art of War team-mates and in the absence of the team leader Japanese Phoenix. Things are looking up for the trio.

Oh hell no. That's a bummer!

Oh yes, i have been building Miyazaki as a big star with his current Legend Killer storyline seemingly getting him over big time but his loss in the #1 Contender Battle Royal and then another one in the next show to Billy Russell in a tag match made him extremely infuriated although i don't know why because Billy Russell ha more pop than him and i also gave him bonus but still he walked out. I am definitely not taking him back even if he remains unemployed for the rest of his career. He has burnt that bridge.

The finals for each group on the Rising Star Cup is set for Night #7 as Isono takes on Americana Jr. and Dial K for Kotani will face off against Sensational Sarja to determine the winner of each group.

- Art of War continued building momentum ahead of their six-man title match against Street Sharks. They have not yet announced the line-up which is supposed to take part in the match. As Tanaka ate the pin in their only loss this month, he is expected to be omitted from the line-up.

- We are also building up to another interesting edition of the Exploder League as Samura, Kijimuta and Kikuchi all have 2 wins apiece. Another triple threat on the cards??

- After some impressive showing in the month, Yakuta has got a second chance at Sugimura's All Asia title. After a botched distraction ended his hopes at Grudge Wars, can he do it in the biggest stage of all??

- Tsubaochi has challenged Russell to a one-on-one match and he has agreed. A dream match for many, the three time champion will take on the Puerto Rican tapout artist.

So, we have the two finalists who will fight it out for the inaugural Rising Star Cup, the Order of the Dragon's Kotani against the self-proclaimed "Mega Star" Yuta Isono.

- The second edition of the Exploder League lived up to it's name:

WDt1Eml.jpg

Kikuchi, Kijimuta and Samura finished with exact same amount of points so for the second month running, we have a triple threat for the finals and Samura also gets another chance.

- The feud between Hustle-X and Disco Boys have been personal and bitter for the better part of the year and it all started in the New Year Spectacle when Hustle-X defeated Disco Boys and made them their servants. After being on the end of enough humiliation, Shoda decided to take matter on his own hands and a fantastic comeback victory in the first edition of Exploder League meant he had a choice and he shocked everyone by making a career vs career match against Hustle-X. This will be the end of either team but one thing is for sure and that is we gonna get an explosive end to this feud.

Yuta Isono vs Dial K for Kotani

The historic show started with the first ever Rising Star Cup. Kotani and Isono had a great couple of exchanges early on in the match and Kotani managed to kick out of a Isono Face Melter before a couple of Head Kicks gave him the win and the 1st ever recipient of the Rising Star Cup.

Street Sharks © vs Art of War

Street Sharks had been the inaugural champions and they had been holding the title for well over 2 months now and their latest challenger was Art of War. Revengers and Kuemon Hotta managed to hold off the champions for quite some time and a brutal exchange between the tag teams Kimiyama & Kogo and Revengers who re-kindled their old feud made for some delightful viewing. In the end, the leader of the Street Sharks hit his Exile Driver on Phoenix to retain the title yet again.

It has now been the third separate occasion that Phoenix had been pinned in a title match this year and Musashi angrily pointed this out to his tag partner. With tensions at an all-time high, Japanese Phoenix couldn’t bear it anymore and he shoved down Musashi to the ground and then decked Hotta with a right hand.

The most successful tag team in EXODUS history has just exploded at the grand stage!!!!!!

Disco Boys vs Hustle-X

This feud had been going on for the last 5 months and all the humiliation that Shoda and Hanarii had suffered lit a fire in them as they took off with a never before seen aggression as they just beat HUSTLE-X from pillar to post but soon the experience of Okakura and Yanagawa came to the fore as they slowed down the pace with painful stretches and holds and cheap tactics like eye gouging and hair pulling and then when they felt comfortable, Okakura hits a pretty intense Yakuza Kick to Hanari.

He goes down for the cover:

1…….

2…….

No……. Shoda arrives just in time to pull Okakura out. Another period of wild brawl ensues before Yanagawa gets in the mix but Hanari who had recovered till then, delivers a tope con hilo to both the members who had rolled outside to catch a breath. Yanagawa was dragged in the ring and Shoda locks in his Around the World Armbar right in the middle of the ring. With nowhere to go and with Hanari doing a good job blocking Okakura from entering the ring, Yanagawa had no choice but to tap out.

The underdogs had done it. They had defeated the mighty Hustle-X. Okakura was shocked, Yanagawa was screaming in pain and Disco Boys were embracing each other. Tears rolled down their eyes. They had just done the unthinkable.

Isamu Kijimuta vs Danjuro Kikuchi vs Sumiyuki Samura

A match that was filled with wow moments as all three of the competitors looked to get an early pinfall. Kikuchi almost managed when he delivered a sunset flip with a bridge to Samura but Kijimuta arrived to pull him out. The first pinfall came at the 15-minute mark when Kijimuta irish whipped Samura and he crashed with incoming Kikuchi sending both men down. There on, he delivers his sit down powerbomb to Samura to get the first win and despite the other two trying their best, there was no other pinfalls and Kijimuta won the match. Samura had now lost two successive Exploder League finals.

Kijimuta won the scramble match by 1 fall to nil over others when he dispatched Samura with a sit-down powerbomb.

The Monks © vs Kingdom (Kimura/Cougar)

The Kingdom came into the tag title match as heavy underdogs and they did nothing to change that perception as the Monks showed why they were the champions. Ever since winning the titles, they had been on a roll becoming more and more cohesive as a unit and it was on full display tonight as they executed some painful double kicks and combo moves that we had rarely seen before from them. Masked Cougar tried going for his IMCHMR manoeuvre (I’m Cougar, hear me Roar) but it was countered into a decapitating short arm clothesline from Yoshitaka that turned Cougar inside out. While Kimura was rolled in by Tsuchie, he fell prey to the Shaolin Powerbomb and they had retained in yet another solid showing.

Tobei Sugimura © vs Spyder Yakuta

Both the competitors had a lot to prove in this encounter. The last time these two met, Yakuta lost due to a botched interference from his stablemate Midnight Tiger and this time he instructed his Kingdom team-mates to stay clear of the ring. He wanted to win on his own merit. This was a wild brawl with both wrestlers working very stiff. Every chop, kick and suplex was felt in the audience and they responded likewise.

After dodging clear of a running knee attempt, Sugimura hits a chain of kicks before hitting his lethal Spinning Wheel Kick. He goes for the cover..

1…..

2….

…...

KICK OUT!!!! Yakuta barely manages to get his shoulders up leaving everybody shocked. Nobody has been able to kick out of the move until tonight. Sugimura has looks of frustration on his face. He picks up Yakuta and peppers him with even more kicks and again hits him with the Spinning Wheel Kick but again Yakuta dodges the bullet by getting a hand on the bottom rope at the nick of time.

The champ is screaming. He is slapping himself. He has never been so animated before. He then ups the risk and drags Yakuta’s body up the top rope positioning him for a belly-to-belly suplex and delivers it successfully but Yakuta rolls through upon impact and then locks in his Spyder Lock (cattle mutilation) with whatever strength he had left and Sugimura is fading.

He is fading and he can’t get out of it. His hands drop…..

Once…..

Twice…..

Thrice!!! It’s over. Yakuta is the new champion.

Spyder Yakuta wins the EXODUS All-Asia Junior Heavyweight title.

Cx6hCo4t.jpgCx6hCo4t.jpgCx6hCo4t.jpg

xm4vTL9s.jpg

After he gets the belt, Yakuta raises it high up in the air and the rest of Kingdom makes their way into the ring. He grabs hold of a mic:

That’s how you make a statement. That’s how make a group powerful. Facing towards his team-mates, I told you I can make it happen, I can deliver the title to this group. Now if you had listened to me earlier, I wouldn’t have to wait another goddamn month to become a champion. This is now the start of a glorious era of the Kingdom and I wouldn’t want to be left behind with weaklings.

With a swift eye contact, suddenly Ant-Man and Cougar beats up Midnight Tiger and Kimura. Yakuta himself brings in a couple of tables that were lying underneath the ring. He stacks them up together and lays down both Tiger and Kimura. Masked Cougar hits a diving leg drop across both members sending them crashing through the tables.

This is what happens when you are not performing upto the mark. Kimura, Tiger you are off the team now. Just pack your bags and get the hell out of here.

Singles Match

3auzaxKs.jpgE8aTGdas.pngku41Cgys.jpg

Billy Russell vs Masao Tsubouchi

This started with a show of respect as both shook hands before the match and we were treated to a dazzling array of moves from both the competitors.

Tsubouchi tried to go for his finisher multiple times but each time, he was foiled by Russell. After a couple of near falls, Russell took the initiative and hit his Ground and Pound Flurry before his Twisting Arm Lock got Tsubouchi in a big trouble. With crowd egging him on, he broke the hold and delivered a big boot to Russell.

After he was perched on the ropes with Tsubouchi pleading him to turn around, suddenly a masked figure appears to distract the referee and while referee was engaging him, yet another figure rushes in and smacks Tsubouchi with a knuckleduster, dropping him like a pin. Russell picked him up and slaps on his Twisting Arm Lock and referee saw Tsubouchi fading out and ended the match.

Billy Russell defeated Masao Tsubouchi by submission with a Twisting Arm Lock.

Cx6hCo4t.jpgCx6hCo4t.jpgCx6hCo4t.jpg

After the match, another masked man enters the ring and the three proceeded to beat Tsubouchi within an inch of his life. After they have finished him, Russell then announces that they are witnessing the birth of the greatest wrestling stable of all time.

Under Russell’s leadership, nobody will be able to hold a candle to them because:

Tsuneyo Yanagimoto © vs Commander Kawagishi

After that epic match and a shocking segment, we needed a big main event and we got one as Kawagishi and Yanagimoto gave everything that they have to create an epic encounter. Kawagishi’s charisma and Yanagimoto’s take no prisoners demeanour made for a fantastic contrast of styles. While Kawagishi played to the crowd more often than not, Yanagimoto was much more focussed on the task in the hand. Both kicked out of each other’s finishers and it was down to who would have more stamina at that point.

It was finally Yanagimoto who managed to get the last laugh when he threw Kawagishi on the turnbuckles twice before hitting the Mikado Bomb to retain.

EX2010.jpg

The Anniversary show has always been considered as a midseason finale and the company is generally expected to undergo major changes, in the terms of roster or storylines.

Well we got just that as Exodus released a press release detailing the roster cuts.

Hustle-X, Tsubouchi, Beetle Kimura, Midnight Tiger have all been released. While Tsubouchi and Okakura (one half of Hustle-X) had signed with PGHW, Yanagawa, Kimura and Midnight Tiger were let go due to lack of any direction and connect with the fans.

There were also additions to the roster with Frankie Perez, Rob Reynolds, Quick Kick Nakao debuting in the Anniversary X show beating Tsubouchi as part of the newly formed Carnage Crew, headed by Billy Russell.

Also, Americana Jr. and Yuta Isono have impressed the management and they have been signed to a full-time contract.

Also, Kijimuta has announced his reward for winning the Exploder League and it will be him reprising his old team with Sugimura, The Legion for a tag title shot against Monks.

A new series has been announced by Exodus termed Battle Lines which will showcase the EXODUS brand of wrestling outside their home region of Kanto and the first of this event will be taking place in Nagoya.

The event will be packed with some interesting matches. The title shot of Legion will be coming in this event as will be the grudge match between the members of the most decorated tag team in EXODUS history, the Revengers as we saw Musashi and Japanese Phoenix coming to blow during their loss in the Six Man title match at Anniversary X.

EXODUS also announced another brand new tournament, Xploding Xciting Tag League or the X-2 Tag League which will feature 10 teams battling it out in 2 blocks in a round robin format.

Musashi vs Japanese Phoenix

These two have been together for the last 10 years and are the most decorated tag team and they knew each other very well so what followed was a series of counters that left everyone spellbound. While Musashi was in position for his Crucifix Powerbomb, Japanese Phoenix rolled out and complained to ref about something in the eye. While the ref was attending, from out of nowhere a figure comes out from behind and superkicks Musashi.

It was EDO PHOENIX IV..............

The 1st Battle Lines event, held at Nagoya was a small ye successful event as we got the debut of Edo Phoenix IV who along with Japanese Phoenix were revealed as the two newest members of Kingdom.

Now it's time to turn our attention to the 1st ever X-2 Tag League. The league got a setback as Yoshitaka injured his back during their tag title defense against Legion and will miss the entire month.

This means that the 1st ever Exodus X-2 Tag League will not feature the tag champions. As much disheartening as that might be, we have lined up a replacement. So, without further do, lets delve into the line-up for this year:

EXODUS continues to get the short end of the stick as reports have come out of another huge disaster, the current All-Asia champion Spyder Yakuta has now left the company after signing an exclusive deal with EILL, the biggest promotion in Mexico. With the belt being vacated and also the position of the leader of Kingdom now being up for grabs, no official announcement has been given on how the promotion plans to tackle this situation as currently all focus is on the X-2 Tag League but we will be getting news in days to come.

Stay tuned......

- The Tag League concluded with interesting results as in both blocks, we have two teams tied together at the top.

- In Group A, it is the Disco Boys who came to this league after having wrestled the biggest match of their career in Anniversary X when they sent their tormentors, Hustle-X packing out of EXODUS finished right on top with the newly reformed Legion who started teaming again just before the league when Kijimuta left Order of the Dragon and aligned himself with Sugimura's Lion's Den stable.

- In Group B, the new members of the Kingdom, Dos Phoenix which was formed on Battle Lines: Nagoya when Edo Phoenix IV debuted and helped Japanese Phoenix assault his former tag team partner, Musashi, have had a dream run, beating Kimiyama & Kogo, Diamond Dogs and Bailey & McKane and then taking the leaders Massive Thunder to a time limit draw. On the other hand, Massive Thunder who were also tagging after a long time as Kawagishi had focused on his singles career bit more of late had a similar run and lived up to their billing as favorites.

- In a major decision taken, all four teams will square off in two semi-finals in the finals day before the winners taking on each other for the trophy. With the prospect of wrestling two grueling matches on the night which team will have the physical and mental edge to prosper?
