Dalton
Spotlight: Erik Strong Friday Week 2, January 2020 "The Shooting Star" Erik Strong was once labeled by the legendary Rip Chord as "wrestling's next megastar." That is about as high of praise as one can get. The Charlotte, NC native signed with Chord's Mid Atlantic Wrestling in 2005 when he was just 19 years old. Within two years, Strong was the undisputed MVP of the company, winning the Mid Atlantic Championship on two occasions before leaving the company in 2009 at Chord's behest in order to gain more experience. Thanks to Chord's connections in the wrestling world, Strong signed with the Stone Family's North of the Border Pro Wrestling where he was a very reliable member of the roster for the next nine years. He was a two-time NOTBPW Television Champion and a one-time NOTBPW Tag Team Champion with Harrison Hash. When NOTBPW and Canadian Golden Combat merged into the Canadian Wrestling Alliance at the beginning of 2018, Strong was of course kept on. Strong's two years in CWA have seen him grow into the complete package. Although not yet a champion, he has been a regular on Championship Wrestling. His most recent feud ended with a win over George Wolfe at Winter War 2019. A phenomenal flyer with great technical skill, he is clearly being positioned as a future star for them, just like Rip Chord predicted all those years ago. VS. VS. Mountie Mann vs. Derek Frost vs. Sonny Wildside vs. Solomon Gold In a hot opener to crown the #1 contender to the CWA Television Championship, Sonny Wildside was able to come out on top by pinning Solomon Gold with a Fear Factor! Derek Frost showed his mean streak in the match and was kept strong throughout. Mountie Mann garnered plenty of heat from the fans in the Saskatoon Bowl by constantly putting his hat back on whenever it got knocked off! Winner: Sonny Wildside Rating: 65 <div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div> Tonight, Donte Dunn will take on Cameron Vessey. Before that, we received a promo package from Dunn talking about his upbringing, his Barbadian heritage, and how important this match is tonight. If he comes out on top and beats the Second Generation Superstar, he is on the road to the most prized championship in professional wrestling: the CWA World Championship. Rating: 68 <div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div> VS. Shooter Sean Deeley & Princeton Pryce vs. Generation Z (Alyx Winters & Flip Simkins) As part of his training, Deeley forced Pryce to team with him to show what he has learned thus far. Although Pryce did what he could with his new skills, he is nowhere near a shooter quite yet. Generation Z consistently countered the holds that Pryce attempted on each of them. One of those reversals, from a Kimura to a Winter's Bite by Winters, is what ended the contest here. Deeley was on the apron but did not attempt to break up the pinfall. After the match, Deeley helped Pryce to his feet and shouted that that is why he must continue his training. He is not ready yet! Winner: Generation Z Rating: 62 <div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div> VS. Dapper Danny Draper vs. Robby Griffin As is tradition, Draper came to the ring insulting his opponent. Draper said that HE is the future of wrestling, not Robby. He called Robby the Teddy Powell of his tag team with his brother Mark, since Mark is the one getting the TV title shot tonight against Mr. Impact! (rating: 42) Of course, Draper would immediately get his ass kicked by Robby who was just a bit offended at Draper's comments. Winner: Robby Griffin Rating: 46 <div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div> Backstage, we see The Elite hanging out in their dressing room. Christian Price, the CWA World Champion, was in front, flanked by Blockbuster, Drake Young, and the CWA World Tag Team Champions, the Dynamite Express. Price said that he is well aware of this alliance forming between the DeColts and Stones. Price: I'm flattered, actually. DeColts and Stones, together at last. And what are they together for? To stop us... The Elite. The fact that WE are the reason for Canadian royalty to fight side by side. Christian Price also noted that come Big City Brawl, he starts with Ricky DeColt! "Dashing" Ricky is getting a World title shot at the PPV! Laura Flame vs. Demelza Wade Laura Flame has been on a hot streak since late 2019 and this week that did not change! Both young stars put on a fun match, but it was Easter all the way! Winner: Laura Flame Rating: 53 <div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div> The cameras go back to the locker room area where we see Christian Price leaving his locker room and telling his Elite brothers that he would be right back. He began walking down the hallway when he ran into Sean McFly! McFly said he wasn't there to fight. He said he saw his promo and wanted to come back here and talk to him. He asked Price what he has become. The Stud that captured crowds in CGC, the hero of Canada for the first year of CWA. But then he turned his back on everyone by hitting Aaron Knight with brass knuckles to win the world title. Price defended himself by saying that he did what he needed to do to become World Champion. He surrounded himself with some of Canada's best o make sure that that never changes either. McFly responded that he has been there before and he knows what Price is doing. One day though, he will see the light and realize that having the support of the crowd, and the boys and the girls in the back, is really what makes someone "Elite." McFly walked off while Price took a second before walking back into the Elite dressing room. Mr. Impact © vs. Mark Griffin Mr. Impact's amazing reign as TV champion continues as he defeats the elder Griffin brother, Mark. It was one of Impact's toughest matches yet however, as Mark came awfully close to winning after two consecutive moonsaults. Mr. Impact was all smiles after the match, knowing that there might not be anyone in CWA capable of beating him. Donte Dunn backed up his words from earlier tonight by taking the fight to the former CWA World Champion. Despite his valiant efforts, Cameron Vessey was simply too much and after fifteen minutes, he fell victim to a Vessey Driver II and the match was over. Winner: Cameron Vessey Rating: 78 <div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div> As soon as the bell rang, Johnny Bloodstone came down to the ring and joined Vessey in a beatdown of the Barbadian Barbarian!
