The Draft Master Challenge

How Draft Master Challenger Works...

The idea behind the DMC is different to every other draft. With a “Normal” Draft, once your selections are made, you get your hands on the created data from day 1. The Data is exactly how you set things. So bidding too much, signing too many top workers and much more would easily have no impact when starting a save.

The DMC is going to challenge every player who takes part, as the way you bid, set up your promotion and save your cash will determine the whole landscape of the draft.

The Data won't be released on day 1, but will be released based on 2 Years of simming the game, then turning it into a database. From there the Saved game will be simmed a further 8 years (Making it 10 Years in total). At the end of every year, a whole array of perks will be given to promotions who Achieve certain yearly awards. Those will range from the End of Year Awards, The Top 5 in Power 500 and Top 5 in Most Popular 100. They will be noted every year for 10 years and earn rewards for the promotions who achieve them.

At the end of the 5 and 10 years, There will be overall Achievement rewards. Those will be for the #1 Promotion, Most Wealthiest, Promotion who have reached Big/Large/Titanic, Highest Momentum and Prestige and then punishments for those who go bankrupt in the 10 years, those who finnish last and those who finish second to last.

Under no amount of requests will I release the data at the beginning, or unedited after the 1st year, not until all the prizes are added. The landscape that you set up at the beginning may not be the one you step into when it's all said and done.

Providing the idea and the execution is well received, i will look to host a Season Twice a year.Anyone who wins a season will win a place on the “Draft Master Challenge - Wall of Fame” and have their name attached to bragging rights forever.

The Winner of Season 1 will automatically get a “Reserved” spot in season 2, along with those who finished in 2nd and 3rd. Everyone else will have to enter again and hope a position is available. The top 2 will also receive a minor cash boost for season 2.The loser and or those who went bankrupt in Season 1 can join but will face a cash deduction heading into season 2.

8-15 Players will be allowed to join each Season and of those, only 12 slots will be open to everyone from the start as 3 slots will be reserved for the top 3 players of the previous season.

Season 2

Season 1 Winner gets automatic place Reserved, Gets extra $500,000 cash

Season 1 Runner Up gets automatic place Reserved, Gets extra $250,000 cash

Season 1 Third Place gets automatic place Reserved, Gets extra $100,000 cash

Everyone else has to join and hope for a place

Season 1 Loser and those who went Bankrupt can join but have a $250,000 cash deduction

Sign Up and Set Up

S1: Each Promotion starts with $20,000,000 in the Bank. This can be spent on everything from Workers to Promotion Pimping. First you have to set up your Promotion. This cannot be changed during the Draft.Money left over at the end of the draft is the “Starting Funds” of the promotion, so don't go bankrupt on a spending spree

S2: Before the draft starts, everyone will be asked for a list of workers they would like to see go up for drafting. These will decide who will be in the early rounds. Workers can continually be added, however they may be further down in the Drafting rounds. The workers who feature in each round will often be entirely random, however there may be a few Themed rounds such as Women’s, Tag Teams, Announcers or Referee’s.

S3: Each Promotions gets 7 PPV’s at “Normal” level, 2 at “Above Average” 2 at “Highly Regarded” and 1 at “Historic”. You can Upgrade the Levels and buy extra PPV’s

S4: The Drafting will take place using Google Doc’s and take advantage of the many options it offers. Any Announcements to do with the draft will be made on the GDS Thread and A Private Chat Room will be set up on the HoPW Discord so players can talk freely without spamming the Thread.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rules

R1: When the Bidding for a worker begins, “Rooms'' will be set up using Google Poll’s. You will set your bid, your promotion and enter. The bids can then be tracked using a spreadsheet to document the times and highest bids. This is an extremely efficient way of doing it and should be very easy for people to follow. Each worker will have their own page to bid on, therefore making the eBay style bidding of “highest wins'', more possible. All Workers Requested will be added, with no set time limit. The only way to win is when you have the highest bid and the worker hasn’t been bid on for 24 hours. You then become the winner of that workers contract.

(Read more below for a better understanding)

R2: Maximum Bids for workers will be $9,999,999. The amount you buy a worker for will determine their contract price in the Mod. Winning a load of workers at $500k may give you a great line up, but will ultimately sink your promotion. When making bids on workers, you can simply increase their bids as often as you like.

Bidding will also have a Minimum increase limit.

$0-$15,000 is a minimum of $500 increase

$15,001-$50,000 is a Minimum of $1,000 increase

$50,001-$150,000 is a Minimum of $5,000 increase

$150,001-$500,000 is a Minimum of $10,000 increase

$500,001-$1,000,000 is a Minimum of $25,000 increase

$1,000,001-$2,000,000 is a Minimum of $50,000 increase

$2,000,001-$5,000,000 is a Minimum of $100,000 increase

$5,000,001-$9,999,999 is a Minimum of $250,000 increase

R3: Everyone can make multiple bids on a worker, it’s not a one hit wonder. However getting in early with a high offer might be a smart idea in some cases.

R4: Also if you miss the end of an auction, it can be reopened at request, however throughout the whole draft you will only have 3 opportunities to do this, so act wisely.

R5: Bidding will work using one in one out, with a Max of 40 Workers being Available at a time. Each day new lots will start at the strike of 2pm EST and fill any empty slots. Bidding for a worker will only end once Bidding has been inactive for 24Hours. After 24hours of silence, that worker is then sold to the highest Bidder.

R6: There is both an upper and lower Limit when bidding on workers. You will need to draft a Minimum of 40 but a maximum of 60 Wrestlers, 1-4 Announcer, 1-4 Colour Commentator, 2-4 Road Agents and 2-4 Referees. Failing to meet the minimum will result in a $50,000 fine for each empty slot

R7: If a worker only Receives 1 bid, you will be required to pay a fixed fee of $10,000 for them. Their contract in the mod will be set to the Default Settings. Hopefully this won’t happen too often.

R8: Each Promotion is given a budget of $20,000,000 at the beginning of sign up. These funds will be used to shape your promotion and buy you workers. You will be expected to buy the Prestige, Momentum, Extra Events, Arena’s plus PPV and TV Deals not to mention buying workers.

R9: Promotions can “Overspend”, however it comes with a cost. Overspending will incur interest fees. Those fees are as follows:

-$1 to -$10,000 = 5% Interest

-$10,001 to -$50,000 = 10% Interest

-$50,001 to -$100,000 = 15% Interest

-$100,001 to -$250,000 = 20% Interest

-$250,001 to -$500,000 = 25% Interest

-$500,001 to -$1,000,000 = 40% Interest

-$1,000,001 to -$2,500,000 = 50% Interest

-$2,500,001+ = 150% Interest

Remember that this means your promotion will start in an even bigger hole and may not make it the 10 years, meaning the promotion may not make it into the “Final Data”.

R10: All workers are Available Exclusive to the winning bidder, Unless you trade with another player, that worker is yours and will not be on any other roster. You can however “Loan” a worker to a fellow promotion for a $$$ Fee $$$ which can be decided by the both parties. You can also create a “Pairing” where 2 promotions can share a worker using a Written Non-Exclusive contract. Example being the winner bids $300,000 and then splits the bill with it's “Partner”. Both Promotions then pay $150,000 for the worker but the contract price is then 20% more meaning each promotion will pay $180,000 a month for that worker.

R11: By the end of the Auctions, you must have at least 40 Active Wrestlers, 2 Referee’s, 1 Announcer, 1 Color Commentator and 2 Road Agents. If you fail to reach the lower limit, you will face both a fine and your roster filled out with workers on expensive contracts. The fine is $50,000 for every worker under the minimum threshold.

R12: TV and PPV Deals will come in bundles that contain multiple deals with networks and ppv providers with set percentage returns. These are far more lucrative than those that can be picked up after the auction ends. There won't be enough “Broadcaster Lots” to supply everyone, so losing out means picking from the bargain bin or without any deals at all, making it harder from the get go, but more in the bank to keep you afloat. You chose the better game you want to play.

R13: Existing Arena’s will be put up for auction during the draft for everyone to bid on. You can also create your own arena.

R14: In this draft you can pick workers from any area to join your promotion. Worker restrictions will be turned OFF.

R15: All the contract information is being set to the following guidelines:

- Random Expiry date

- Alignment set to be decided at random or by you at the end of the draft for $$$

- Gimmick set to database default.

- Gimmick ratings will be set Randomly (upgrade can be bought)

- Momentum set to Normal (upgrade can be bought)

- Iron Clad set to NO (upgrade can be bought)

- Creative Control Set to NO

- Hiring Veto set to NO

- Wage Matching set to NO

R16: Worker Status

Injured Workers: All workers will be Eligible and have their “Injuries Removed”

Hiatus: All Workers who are on hiatus will be eligible for Drafting.

Left The Business: Unless stated otherwise, All workers will be eligible for Drafting

Non Active but doesn’t fit my Role for them: All “non-Active” or “Retired” workers who have Pushes that don’t suit your role for them, such as Eric Bischoff being “Authority” but wanting him to be “Color”. These requests will be granted.

Retired: Someone who retired through choice and not injury (Jamie Noble, Lita, Guido) Will all be considered to be Reactivated as Full Time or Part-time workers.

Others such as Steve Austin will not be allowed as they retired due to Medical Reasons.

R17: This time around you can only get your TV and PPV Deals by bidding for them in the Auction or Creating a “Network”. Deals will range from Hugely generous to Low End Basement Deals. Each deal will be set up as follows, Network, Time Slot and Return (Cost and Revenue) Each contract will be different and the same Network/Carrier might offer upwards of 3 Deals. Some Auctions may come with Network exclusivity, meaning you can offer out shows to other Draftee’s of $$$. If a You do win one of these network deals, you will be given a limit of between 2-7 other available Slots to Trade on.

R18: Remaining Money at the end can be used to buy Basement end TV/PPV deals or other minor items such as creating new tag teams or stables.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Jury

During the Draft everyone has a free reign on bidding and such alike. However anyone playing outside the realms of reason can be flagged up and placed in front of the “Jury”. Everyone else then gets to decide if you should receive a Warning, Its Over Reaction, You should have a Fine or a Larger Punishment.

To call the “Jury” into service there must be at least 2 complaints.

For a Decision on what action to take, there must be a Majority vote of more than 60% of players.

Decisions are kept track of !!!Here!!!

Punishments Include

•Warning

•A Fine of $25,000 to $750,000

•A Bidding Ban Period of 12-48 Hours

•Stripping of a Worker

•Ejected (in the extreme)

Everyone who has been flagged up to face “Questionable” actions can plead their case. No action will be taken until everyone has Cast their vote.

The decisions will be made in private and delivered by myself, to save any players receiving hate from the person on “Trial”.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where to Start

Step One:

Decide on a promotion name and location

Decide how you would like to spend your $20Million on building your company. From Size to Finances, Momentum and Prestige. Just fill in the Form and post it. Remember to add all your PPV Events, Championships and so on.

Create an “Owner/Booker” based on either yourself or someone fictional. Nobody from the Wrestling world or Celebrity are allowed.

Step Two:

Draw up a list of workers you would like to draft and post that list. It doesn’t have to be 100’s, but once posted, you won't have a chance to add to it until the later rounds.

Step Three:

After the Auction begins, Draw up a list of all workers you want for your promotion who haven’t yet been auctioned. Remembering Referee’s, Wrestlers, Announcers and anyone who you will need to fill your roster. They will all then be added to the draft where everyone can bid on those workers.

Step Four:

Once all Auctions end, Trading will stay open up for the next 3-4 Days, where you can organise a trade with anyone. After 3-4 Days the Rosters will be locked and added into the games data.

---------- From Here Onwards, Its all in my hands ----------

Step Five:

The Challenge Begins and the Data will be simmed for 2 Years. A Copy of this data will be made and that will be the foundation of the Released Data.

Step Six:

Every Year for the 10 Years, the data will be evaluated and awards will be given, which will be added to the “Release Data”. Awards will be given for a multitude of milestones reached. These range from growing in size or falling in size, to the End of the Year Awards, Whether your promotion is still in business or if your promotion falls into Debt.

Step Seven:

The ”Release Data” which will be 2 years after the draft will be edited with all the Rewards for the milestones/Achievements reached over the 10 Year sim. That data will then be released to the players to tackle as they wish.

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>Just a quick few notes… Some of you may remember I used to run Drafts years ago alone and with rvdjrv2002, from around 2007 to 2013-2014.</p><p> </p><p>

The idea above is not like any other draft before and has been an idea I've worked on for the past 6-8 months, since the end of last summer. I’ve wanted to announce it a lot sooner, but it's just been a matter of finding the time.</p><p> </p><p>

I get that some people like a traditional draft and I'm sorry it doesn't cater for you. The Draft Master Challenge is a Hybrid idea that brings in both an auction style draft and a survival challenge that then crowns a Champion. The idea is to give consequences to every penny spent and every worker “drafted”. If the promotion doesn't survive the Decade, then the release data doesn't contain the player's promotion. I realise it's harsh, but it adds an element of jeopardy to the whole thing and makes players question everything.</p><p> </p><p>

The Data that will be used has yet to be decided upon… so please vote for the data you would prefer to use. </p><p> </p><p>

I love complicated; count me in Togg!

:D:D:D:p:D:D:D

I think the explanation over complicated it . Anyone who ever took part in a previous auction draft will know its actually a lot simpler and easier this time around. The complicated stuff happens afterwards :p. When its out of everyones hands.

To simplify it even more... You build your promotion and the software calculates everything for you. You bid and thats calculated for you :p. Then you sit back and hope you built a promotion that will both win the Draft Master Challenge and survive 10 years.

Thats the last time i ever go to Derek_B about an idea and listen to his advice :D:p.

I'm interested, but the data makes a big difference to me personally, can I join conditionally? Mainly because my wrestling knowledge skews quite modern, so a far enough back historic mod would have me out of my depth. If you only want guranteed yes I understand.

Absolutly fine, not a problem. If more than 15 want to sign up, there is always a reserve list, so if you didnt like the data, the option is always there to drop out and have someone else join :)

If there's a spot I'll take it!!

Promotion Name: World Class Championship Wrestling

Promotion Initials: WCCW

Location: Dallas, TX (Mid-South, USA)

Don't see the form yet

Link Here Sorry i provided a "Dud" link. here is the template... i'll get everyone their own shortly, but for now... feel free to brows :D

If you've got a spot, count me in!

Still plenty of space atm. There's always reserve lists too. So if there is anyone who wants to join and its full... still opt in... a space might open up :D

How are you going to handle users who go absent during draft(s)?

As its an auction rather than taking turns picking workers... it wont be an issue with holding up the draft... Most drafts offer a 2 hours window to draft, The DMC Auction will offer a 24 hour window after the current highest bid. So it wont require excessive time keeping like normal drafts, where picks can get backlogged.

However if that promotion has drafted workers and fails to complete the full draft... depending on how complete their promotion is... We can either replace them, or remove them and auction off any lots they already won. I guess its a case by case basis depending on how deep into the draft we are and how many, if any workers are drafted/won. :D
